Game Day Dolphins @ Eagles

header

It’s Game Day.   Our record says it all.  3-5, 0-4 in the division.

I’ve thought about it and I’ve come up with a plan.  They need to go with what works for them.  Based on results, they played well the 2 weeks after Campbell was named head coach.  All they need to do is fire the head coach every two weeks and we’ll be fine.

Let’s Go Dolphins

We’ll see what happens today. I’m hoping for a Dolphins win, but in reality it’s not going to matter come Week 17 anyway. I am curious as to what Chip Kelly has in mind for this porous defense though…

LOL @ Herd….Yes fire the coach every 2 weeks and we have a workable system finally!

I presume to be in the minority here, but I am kinda glad Rousey get her ass kicked last night. I don’t watch mma, and have even less desire to watch women fight, but we have her forced down our collective throats constantly, so a little disappointment for her and Dana White makes me a little bit happy.

It probably also makes me a shallow individual, but… 😏

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I kind of agree, I too was getting tired of all the Pub. she was getting against a weak class of opponent.

I streamed the prelim fights last night and was thinking, a reason why I like the UFC so much is, because you don’t know who wins until the end. What I mean by this is it’s mano y mano, there’s no officiating to cheat things along the way, sure that happens afterwards in a decision, but it doesn’t take away from the fight while it’s happening. I don’t know how many team sporting events in the last 10 yrs that I’ve stopped watching, because of the officiating, but it’s been close to 100.

Must have been pretty cool to “The Chairman of the Board”….or Burt Reynolds for that matter.
    —————————————-
While out to dinner one night at the popular LA eatery Nicky Blair’s, Burt Reynolds caught the eye of Frank Sinatra, who was dining with his entourage.

Summoning Reynolds, Sinatra invited him to a poker game he and his friends would be holding in the restaurant’s kitchen after their meal.

When he joined them, he found them “seated at a big round table in the middle of the kitchen, with all the waiters and busboys rushing back and forth.”

As Sinatra called five-card stud, there was a “big crash,” as “an unlucky busboy had dropped a tray of glassware.”

As Reynolds recalls it, the owner, Nicky Blair, came in “yelling at the poor busboy,” and Sinatra did not approve.

“How much do those glasses cost?” Sinatra asked his host.

“I don’t know, Frank, a few bucks apiece.”

Sinatra nodded to his two bodyguards, and one at a time, each counted out $3,000 in cash and handed it to Blair. “Now bring me three grand worth of glasses,” he said.

The confused restaurateur started sending in busboys with trays full of empty glasses. Sinatra asked one for his name — it was Hector — and said, “Hector, break ’em!” The busboy did as he was told “until the floor was covered with broken glass.”

“Frank told Nicky, ‘If I ever come in and don’t see Hector, I’ll never come back.”

At that point, before a card had been dealt, Reynolds got up to leave.

“ ‘Where the hell are you going?’ Frank said.

“ ‘Home,’ I said. ‘I got my Sinatra story.’ ”

HOPING for the best in today’s Fins @ Eagles game. But I’m afraid Murray runs for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. Can Ajayi and Miller top that?? –IF they do, Miami wins!!
    —————————-
REALLY ENJOYED what I saw of yesterday’s college football offerings. Big 12 may not be the best conference. But THEY SURE ARE ENTERTAINING!! Does anyone think Art Briles’ offense would work in the NFL?
    —————————
Here’s how I view the Top 6 in the CFP.
    1) CLEMSON; after dispensing with patsies Wake Forest & South Carolina, Clemson will have a REAL CHALLENGE IN THE ACC TITLE GAME Vs. North Carolina. I give the Tar Heels a 50-50 shot to spring the huge upset. IF Carolina wins, CLEMSON IS OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS!!
    2) ALABAMA; PLAYS CHARLESTON SOUTHERN & AUBURN, then FLORIDA in the SEC title game. NO CONTEST!! – – Tide is the ONLY team of the Top 4 to have a clear and easy path to the Playoffs.
    3) OHIO STATE; HAS GAMES REMAINING Vs. Michigan State, @ Michigan and Vs. Iowa in Big 10 title game. Odds say Buckeyes lose one of those games. IF so, there’s a chance NO Bif 10 team makes the Final Four unless Iowa runs the table.
4)NOTRE DAME; Will beat Boston College next week. But final game @ Stanford will be Stanford’s GAME OF THE YEAR after losing to Oregon last night. I say STANFORD hands ND their second loss of the season and knocks Irish out of playoffs!!
5)IOWA; Nov. 27 game @ Nebraska will not be easy. But if UNDEFEATED IOWA team plays UNDEFEATED OHIO STATE in Big 10 title game, the winner advances to the playoffs and the loser does not. And if Buckeyes lose at Michigan but beat Iowa, NO Big 10 team will go to the Final Four.
6)OKLAHOMA STATE; Undefeated Cowboys play both Baylor and Oklahoma at home in T. Boone Pickens’ Stadium. Beating BOTH of them is not likely. But if Cowboys win both, they’ll definitely be among the 4 Playoff Teams. A loss by Clemson, Ohio State or Notre Dame MIGHT mean the Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game is for a PLAYOFF SPOT, since Oklahoma will move up in the rankings after beating Baylor at Baylor last night.
    7) OKLAHOMA; See above. 1-loss SOONERS still have a long shot at a playoff spot.
    ———————-
Yes, some team outside this “Top 7” could make it to the playoffs. But I think that’s highly unlikely.
It’s going to be interesting, that’s for SURE!!

is this punishment for getting shredded vs watkins last week?

  20. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I don’t understand why people blow up and shoot down innocent victims at a concert, soccer match, or sidewalk cafe. I mean I understand the geo politics of the Middle East and that the revenge cycle there goes back to ancient times, but what strategic or publicity advantage does Islamic State hope to achieve by shaming Islam? Paris is such a cheerful and open-minded city. I hope France and the US exterminate every IS sympathizer in the world in the next two weeks.

  21. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Grimes has had nagging injuries to several body parts. I think his failures last week were indications that he can’t run. Watkins just walked off and left him time after time. Sammy is fast, but that was pitiful coverage. A case could be made that Grimes lost the game for us last week.

France and the US as well as other countries have been conducting air strikes in Syria for months to attack ISIS

I expect the reaction to be more of the same

People are calling for a reaction but really the extermination of ISIS has been underway a long time now

I think the clock is already ticking and has been for ISIS

the way we have been fighting terrorism has actually been working and we have prevented a lot of civilian deaths at the hands of terrorists for over a decade now

I don;t think what happened in France this weekend changes that
maybe people in Paris and major cities have to deal with a little heightened scrutiny

but I do think ISIS is getting weaker and has been

  25. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I really thought by now that Parker would’ve become a factor. At least catch one or two nice medium long passes each game. Maybe this week? But his foot is listed as still throbbing on him. That is yet another first round pick since the 2007 debacle from which we are now getting little or nothing.
    Jake Long
    Vontae Davis
    Jared Odrick
    Dion Jordan
    Devante Parker
Jawaun James is injured but at least he played a lot till recently.
Tannehill can’t seem to make the last step to elite.
Pouncey causes two safeties in back to back weeks.
I might be exaggerating a little on Pouncey and Tannehill, but maybe not too.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

James, Tannehill and Pouncey are probably our best 1st rounders in recent memory

Long, Davis and Odrick were not bad – in fact good at times
but there time was short lived here

Jordan is the real disaster on this list

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Parker gets a pass for now due to our WR corps being deep.

I pray you are correct about IS weakening, and I do think that is the case, and I do support Obama’s limited war campaign, but I want them all dead this week. I also want every nation to use its intelligence forces to comb through all Islamists to find those inclined to perpetrate acts of senseless violence and assassinate them first.
My goal for this month is for all the mean people on earth to die.

  29. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think the allies will amp it up against ISIS now. There will be more airstrikes and special operations now.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Is it bad that I really don’t care if we win or not this week? I think it is, but my heart ain’t in it anymore this season. Sucks!

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I hear ya but yes I do want to see the team win and try to finish the season better than it started. It’s a long shot but a winning streak would get this team back in the playoff hunt because so many AFC teams are around .500.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yeah, I totally understand that. I know it’s wrong, I just don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel with this team. Nothing, and I mean nothing to be optimistic about.

Albeit you make a good point
in 2014 The Obama administration was participating in air strikes in Syria i.e leading it
but recently they did criticize Russia for the same sort of air strikes

around the same time France lead some air strikes which were not criticized

I think the difference between the white house reaction to France and Russia is that the Russians did it unilaterraly without coalition approval

I don;t think at the end of the day this administration is hesitant to support air strikes on Syria to attack Isis
I think they don;t want Russia going rogue….lol

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Russia was the only one actually making real progress.
The US strikes were mostly just a dog & pony show for the media. No real significant effort to really take them out since they’re using the ISIS mercenaries to try and oust Assad.
The same strategy was used in most all the Arab sprig BS to oust Mubarak, Gaddafi, etc, and Iran is next on the hit list.
Destabilize the ME by any means is the MIC narrative.

Russia is pro Assad, so that’s why the US is pissed, cause they’re the ones actually really trying to take ISIS out.

I do think Syria is extremely complicated, because Assad is a very bad man and needs to be replaced, and it was certainly true that for a while, the US armed any group fighting to oust him. Now I don’t think we are aiding IS on purpose at all any longer, although I am sure that some arms and stuff intended for the resistance filter through to IS. Some they take and some they get through the original recipients being fake fronts for them. But I don’t think that is US policy.
