Game Day – Colts @ Dolphins

Capture

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and had lots of good times with friends and family.  Or at least had some good liquor to get through it.  If the latter is the case I hope you’ve still got some at hand.  It’s game day and usually that calls for some heavy drinking to numb the senses to watch as the Dolphins play their brand of football.

Let’s Go Dolphins.

Tannys throws in the red zone and his reads in the red zone didn’t help much either, same has been all year. OL sucked. Lbs continued to have very inconsistent play to play. We got lots of work ahead of us

  2. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Randy I agree. Tanny sucked right along with the whole team.
They say winning is contagious. Well soo is sucking and poor play, effort, scheme, play calling, managment.

  3. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

ok now den wins the next two weeks and the pats lose next week and dont get home field adv. who do the pats play next week…….oh nevermind

  4. New Age's avatar New Age says:

You know your OL isn’t going to be very good when D. Thomas has the most starts of anyone on your OL.

  5. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

We need a fantastic LB coach. oh, and some capable LB’s.

  7. rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

Yep, looks like NE will have to play their starters for home field throughout. …or at least till they get a comfortable lead. Maybe just a half then.

  8. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    randy,

as bad as the oline played, and they did, it still looked like the fins could run the ball some. so of course the coaching staff just let them get eaten up in pass protection

  9. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

and all the idiots on fox picked the panthers as their lock pick.

  10. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

I dont have an issue with Hickey He had a decent draft , but if we need to throw the baby out with the bathwater to get some leadership in So be it

  11. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Ha! I didn’t follow this blog all day, but if you think it’s all about Tannehill being the problem thank god or whatever you’re not the personnel people. This team is broken in so many ways.

    1. Our OL isn’t just not that good, it’s putrid.
    2. Our defense stinks!
    3. Tannehill is shell shocked but at least he keeps trying to compete. Keep blaming him. It’s easy.

How many more times do we have to hear from the announcers that they have to do something to protect Tannehill; chip, keep in extra TEs etc.? It’s absurd! Our coaching sucks and so does this team. From top to bottom we stink!

Landry played to the last snap and Miller would have too if we remembered we have him.

Get ready for a new approach. I welcome it. We need to cleanse from the past. Sorry Campbell you allowed this nonsense to continue. You’re gone too.

  12. New Age's avatar New Age says:

We got beat by a 3rd string QB on a very bad team. Brady doesn’t have to play and neither does most of their starters for us to lose.

    Tim

It’s not easy to blame Tanny for anything
In fact nothing meets more resistance

Tanny is just not very good irrespective of how bad other parts of this team are

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

How can you expect better QB play on a very bad & broken team? He’s a result, sum of a bad & badly broken team.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

        He’s not a result
He’s a part of the problem
There are many flaws with this team and Tannehill is not me of them
Not a result of the other flaws

HOW ABOUT THAT MIAMI O-LINE NOW?? Yes sir, that TANNENBAUM WAS A GENIUS not to take an O-Lineman early in the draft. That 4th round guy was GREAT, wasn’t he???—
    ———————————————————————————————————————-
Well, we can rip T-Baum until the cows come home and it will do us little good. But as I’ve said so many times before, IT’S ALL ON ROSS for hiring or keeping on board THE DOOFUS BRIGADE!!!
    ——————
Meanwhile, Todd Bowles, the ONLY head coach hired by Ross with a winning record at Miami (2-1) has just coached his JETS to an overtime win over the Pats and a likely spot in the PLAYOFFS (“PLAYOFFS,” did someone say “PLAYOFFS?”) –I’ll bet Bowles is thrilled to death NOT to be working for STEVE ROSS (who told Bowles he flunked his interview with the Fins for the HC job).
    —————
NOW, New England will need to BEAT MIAMI to lock-up home field advantage throughout the AFC Playoffs next Sunday. Isn’t that special?? –OH, did I hear the word “PLAYOFFS” again??
    ————–
Meanwhile, Tannenbaum is already planning on how he can F*CK-UP the #4 or #5 pick in the upcoming NFL draft, which Miami likely will have after they get massacred by NEW ENGLAND next Sunday!! – – I’m SURE the Ross ass-kissers will have plenty of compliments for Little Stevie Blunder after Brady and his boys hang a 30-point beating on the Dolphins in (thankfully) the LAST game of the 2015 season for the Fins!

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Did you go to the game? Somehow I am doubting you wrote that one the cell phone you never check on the way to your car. And if it helps….i couldn’t do that either.

      • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

SEE BELOW, my friend, Stanger. I’m kinda fed up with this team (as you know). So I gave away my tix to a co-worker & his fiancee. He’s the one who will be getting about $500 for my New England game tix. PLUS Mrs. OD said if I stayed home she’d take me out to dinner today. I’m SURE you get the general idea.

  19. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

Tanny is just not very good irrespective of how bad other parts of this team are

piggy that is very true. but some on here still expect him to make other areas better. i just think that is impossible, it takes every part of the team to make every part look better.

  20. rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

Looks like we’ll move up one spot in the draft to #6 with the Ravens winning. If we lose next week, we could move up as far as #3 depending on Dallas, SF, and SD. …our SOS is one of the weakest in the league.

  21. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

How can you expect better QB play on a very bad & broken team? He’s a result, sum of a bad & badly broken team.

  22. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Cheer up Jamil Douglas….you get to do it again next Sunday.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

MUCH TRUTH IS SAID IN JEST, MY FRIEND! –Sadly, Miami has NO ONE BETTER than Douglas to take his place. If Douglas goes down, I say PUT IN PIGGY!!!!!! –I KNOW he’ll take good care of Tanny b/c he has such a high opinion of him!

  23. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t think people expect Tannehill to be anything other than a good qb ffrob
    And he is not

  24. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Rock,
I didn’t blame Tannehill for that last play. That was obviously a screw up by Douglas. Point was….every damn player on this team shared in this shitfest. Tannehill along with them. Nobody should feel good about the effort given for the whole game today.

  25. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    ffr
I do want a QB to make the players around him better, but if I can’t have that, I at least want a QB who doesn’t make the players around him worse…or make their jobs harder.

  26. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    piggy,

that isnt true. other on here have said they expect the qb to lift up the rest of the team. and tanny isnt good enough to lift his own game much less other areas of the team.

That’s like expecting a neurosurgeon to remove a brain tumor and the OR nurses keep handing him butter knives.

  29. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    randy,

lmao so what you want is tanny not only to lead behind a putrid o line, but you want him to make them better and then when they suck, you think it is his job to make them look better. but it doesnt work the other way around. if he sucks the oline shouldnt step it up and make him look better

yep. i can totally get saying tanny isnt good. and one of the reasons he isnt good is cause of the oline he plays behind, but then to say he should make them look better just makes no sense

  31. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

We’ve had issues with our O line since I’ve been following this team. Will they EVER do anything to fix it?

    ———————
DID any of you notice that ex_dolphin Mike Gillislee had 93 yards and a touchdown today in just 9 carries for the Buffalo Bills? Yep, our front office sure was smart to get rid of him. Said Gillislee, “It sure was fun running behind an excellent offensive line!”

    • herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Thank You!!! I had a few down weeks with some injuries, but it did work out pretty well. And I have to admit, its a good thing I won. The prize was a Dolphins throw, made from sweatshirt material, very soft and warm. It’s at my office, and there were a few cold mornings, the heat was out in our building and it was freezing. So just saying, it was slightly used. lol

  56. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

In my other FF league, I’m just playing for draft position, because I got eliminated from the playoffs, only 4 teams make it, and I got edged out with a tie record, and 10 points total less points over the season. In the last 2 weeks, now that I’m just playing for draft position, I have 173 points with Demaryius Thomas going tomorrow night, and last week I put up 180 points. Peaked too late. lol

  64. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

  65. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I’m really hating the fact I have to work tomorrow.

  66. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    mike,

i think they can move all the way to 3 or 4, not sure what happens if the have the same schedule as the 49’s. but that depends on them finishing 5-11 and teams like dallas and SD winning next week.

  67. rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

We are currently #6 in the draft. If we lose next week, we can finish anywhere between #3 and #6 depending on Dallas, SF, and SD. The only other team that comes close to us on SOS with the same number of wins (5) is Jacksonville. …Miami SOS is .455 and Jacksonville is .467.

    • rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

Dallas, SF, and SD all have SOS above .500, so Miami would win the tiebreaker with any of those teams if they end up with the same record. Miami has one of the weakest SOS in the league, so it becomes a positive come draft time with positioning.

  68. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Mike E, should’ve won the whole thing, he got to pick 1st each round….smh.

It was still fun. Might do it again next year….that is if I don’t hate all things NFL by then.

  71. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

rgs – Thanks for the draft info. I can’t imagine we could beat NE next week. Even if it screws up their season, I’d still prefer to lose. I want as many options as we can get, and the higher pick affords those options. Picking 3rd would be sweet, we need an infusion of some top talent, of course along with a proper staff to give this team much needed direction. A good combo of both can hopefully get us back into contention.

  72. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

    ———————————
TODAY’s story of the Dolphins’ game in the TAMPA BAY TIMES (p. 6C) ends with “Miami was eliminated two weeks ago, and the half-empty stadium reflected the franchise’s sad state.” Meanwhile the Dolphins’ front office might respond by saying something like “We sold 65,482 tickets to the game which shows REAL support for the franchise!” Isn’t THAT what you’d expect from the DOOFUS BRIGADE?
    ——————————-
TIME PERMITTING, I’M going to come up with a comprehensive solution titled “How to Save the Dolphins’ Franchise.” It will cover the Stadium Structure & Upgrades, the Season Ticket Base, the Front Office & Advisers to Ross, How to Get the BEST HEAD COACH AVAILABLE WHO IS WILLING TO WORK FOR ROSS. Now, remember, some coaches that Ross has pursued (Harbaugh and Fisher and who knows who else) FLAT-OUT WOULD NOT WORK FOR HIM, especially if they had to take orders from a member of ROSS’s DOOFUS BRIGADE (read IRELAND or TANNENBAUM). –I’ve got some thoughts on THAT unsavory issue, as well. –OTHER ISSUES/OBSTACLES will be addressed when I finally have enough time to address them. BUT, be assured, THAT ARTICLE WILL BE WRITTEN, and debated by y’all after it is published. HAVE a great day, folks.

      • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

ROCKPHIN: SO you’re going with 3 O-Linemen, 3 Defensive Backs and a Linebacker, eh?? Well those ARE our 3 biggest needs, in my view, too. –DON’T know if these 7 guys are the RIGHT GUYS. Of course the DOOFUS BRIGADE, which, cumulatively, draws millions in salary from Ross, DOESN’T KNOW IF THESE 7 GUYS ARE THE RIGHT GUYS EITHER. And there in lies the problem.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Beckith and Ramsey might be able to make an immediate impact

  83. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I really thought we’re gonna win yesterday. Oh well. At least now we’ll get a better draft spot.

Since we’re stuck with tanny next year this is what I think we need to compete in the division. I mean don’t finish last again.

2 starting CBs, 1safety, 1 mlb (or inside lb if we switch to 3-4), a pass rushing DE, a guard, and a tackle.

    That’s all.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Boulder, see my Mock draft above. I only missed on your DE

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

Yup that’s a good draft. The DE might not be a necessity if we keep vernon and wake comes back.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It doesn’t necessarily have to be all new players at those positions but some young players we already have taking the next step. Until we know the new coaching staff and possibly front office, we won’t know who fits and who doesn’t.

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

you’re right. It really depends on the new coaching staff and scheme. Some of our current players might be better fit in a different scheme.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think we need an OLB as well

  84. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

OD, I don’t know if those 7 guys are worth a damn either. I don’t follow college ball so I just picked the top rated prospects at positions of need this go around. As the offseason progresses and the guys “in the know” on here start touting their guys I will zero in a little more. LOL

  85. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

It’s kinda depressing to see the todd bowles coaching the jets and winning 10 games this year. That should have been us.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

HOW RIGHT YOU ARE, BOULDER!! NO ONE has butchered the head coaching hires the last few years as badly as Ross has!! Either Bowles or Harbaugh would have been a HUGE improvement over Philbin.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He’s only hired one HC in Philbin. Harbaugh chose SF over us. There’s been plenty of other poor head coaching hires in this league. Remember too, Bowles became a first time HC this year not 4 years ago when we interviewed him from within the org. No team gave him a HC job until this year.

  86. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

TIM: AS FAR AS “young players taking the next step,” I’m concerned that SOME of them (like Miller) will step right out the door and go to a BETTER RUN FRANCHISE for the rest of their Pro careers! Ross’s Miami franchise has become the Siberia of the NFL – – NOT weather wise but performance wise. NOBODY wants to play for a franchise as poorly run as this one. And some quality head coaches WON’T CONSIDER COMING HERE, EITHER unless Ross cleans house and gets rid of the DOOFUS BRIGADE.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

And, yes, I know Miller has said he’d like to stay here. But if the Seahawks, Cardinals, Panthers or (God forbid) the Patriots come knocking at Miller’s door, he’s as good as GONE!

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Not talking about Miller or Vernon as UFAs. I’m talking about our young corners, safeties and OL for instance. Some of them may be better players next year than they were this year.

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Mathis at OG is a good example of that. We cut him from our squad to promote a PS player and two years later he is in the probowl. Two years after that people on this board are yelling that we need to acquire him…..

      • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

TRUST ME, they’ll be WORSE if the DOOFUS BRIGADE RETURNS!! – – It saddens me to see young players actually take a step or two BACKWARDS under the current leadership.

  87. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

OD, we’re going to have a new coaching staff so I’m not sure who the DOOFUS BRIGADE even is.

  88. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING 3 TEAMS (Chargers, 49ers,Cowboys) WIN their final game, Miami will move up from 6th to 5th on the Draft Board in the 1st round. IF ALL 3 WIN (highly unlikely) Miami could move up all the way to the 3rd pick UNLESS the Fins BEAT the Pats (also highly unlikely). SO-O-O, most probably, Miami will have either the 5th pick or the 6th pick if they lose to New England.

  89. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I tried again. If Jalen Ramsey is still there when Miami picks. I AM TAKING HIM!

Plus his play is not worth the 8+ Million we will have to pay him next year.

  90. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

TIM: THE 2 MOST IMPORTANT members of the DOOFUS BRIGADE WHO MUST BE GONE ARE Tannenbaum and King Carl Peterson. I’m a bit indifferent on Hickey. And, obviously, the remnants of a former HC’s (Philbin) coaching staff must be shown the door, too. There are other aspects of the DOOFUS BRIGADE that must be changed. But T-Baum and King Carl must be TERMINATED WITH “EXTREME PREJUDICE!” OTHERWISE, NO IMPROVEMENT IS LIKELY.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

      out FOR A FEW HOURS.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I highly doubt tannenbaum is going anywhere. I think hickey and campbell will be gone. Mr T will become the new GM or he’ll get a GM to work with the coach he’s gonna hire.

Then in 3 years we’ll be blowing it up again 😦

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Why do people keep mentioning Carl Peterson? He’s not part of the front office. You also can’t fire a personnel friend of Ross’ so that’s a bit unrealistic.

Tannenbaum’s been here one year and is not responsible for this team’s performance, he’s an executive, not a coach. You can’t really evaluate guys like that for a few years.

I don’t really care if Ross starts completely over at the top or Tannenbaum and Hickey remain, I’m more concerned who the new HC and staff will be, then personnel decisions.

      • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

I agree. I know you were saying in the off-season last year, that we need to find out the untapped talent on this team and hopefully develop whatever is there. The most disappointing thing to me from these coaches has been the in-ability to do that. I attribute that to making players fit into a system instead of playing to their strengths. I have no clue what some of the younger players can do given the right opportunities…but I hope they hire a coach who can make a real assessment of it.

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

someone in the personnel department has to take the fall for this year and I bet it’ll be hickey.

  91. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

    OD,
I’ll be ok with miller leaving depending on how our running scheme is gonna be. I hope we move to a power rushing attack. That’s not a good fit for miller. I think ajaye is a better fit for that. We can bring in a bigger back in FA to supplement.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Miller is a better RB than Ajayi in any system. His physical running is also underrated. A power rushing attack would require a complete turnover in OL. Our biggest issue running the ball is actually doing it and sticking with it, not the system. The Seahawks run a ZBS too even though most people think they’re a smash mouth team. They just happen to have physical RBs.

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I just don’t see miller as anything special like peterson that you break the bank to keep. He’s good but I bet we can find someone that can do the job if we fix the line..

Our main issue with offense is the oline. Get that fixed first then worry about who runs behind it.

  92. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Bookman, yeah and I was a bit disappointed in a lot of the young players this season. Not sure if it was coaching or they’re just not that good or both.

  93. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Boulder, I think Miller with a team committed to the run would prove to be one of the top backs in the league. I never said break the bank to keep him, but would love to keep him. I think he’s our best offensive player. So losing him doesn’t help us get better.

  94. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Boulder, I think it’s unfair to blame Hickey for the team’s performance because most of the people who cover the NFL thought this team had good talent. I questioned our depth and whether many of our young players were ready and I think that was answered. But if coaching was the main issue, they already took the fall. Hickey had to correct things when he first came here, so it wasn’t a clean slate to build the team in any way he wanted. There was also pressure to win now. I really don’t think he’s the problem. Also Tannenbaum’s been here one year, so blaming him is premature as well whether you dislike him or not.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

We’re going to go 0-6 against our division. The number one job of any GM is to put a team out that can compete in the division. We didn’t do that. Someone has to take the fall for that. I bet it’ll be hickey. Its not all his fault but I bet he gets the a lot of the blame.
