Game Day – Colts @ Dolphins

Capture

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and had lots of good times with friends and family.  Or at least had some good liquor to get through it.  If the latter is the case I hope you’ve still got some at hand.  It’s game day and usually that calls for some heavy drinking to numb the senses to watch as the Dolphins play their brand of football.

Let’s Go Dolphins.

I know the way scouting works guys
We don’t always draft or are even interested in guys we scout

But don’t tell me it’s u likely we go in a different direction at qb next year

That is flat out silly to beleive
But some of you really think the Dolphins feel the same way about Tanny that you do

The fact that there is an out of his contract in 2017 speaks volumes

  2. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t know if Tannys arm was hit by that video
But the pressure certainly affected the throw at a minimum

More importantly, it’s an easy TD if there is just one slant pattern
7 or 8 guys are coming at the qb
And there is no one underneath in the middle of the field to counter than

  3. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Okay guys

Enjoy slathering yourself with Tanny butter
    I will catch up later

  4. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Piggy

Did I not say the contract was somewhat unwarranted? Did I not say it was a gamble? Do I have to say they gave a shitty QB a big contract but gave themselves a loophole if he still sucked to make it right for you?

  5. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I am on record saying I am disappointed in Tannehill this year. I have also said that he is part of the problem and have said that after 4 years if you have a ? at QB you don’t have a QB. ALL THAT being repeated, I still seriously doubt the Dolphins draft a first round QB this off-season.

$18,540,000 in dead money next year if we cut him. $11,640,000 in wasted salary if we sit him.

If we wait until ’17 to cut or trade him we take a $6.9 M cap hit.

Tannehill will be hear next year and the year after barring any injuries. Sorry Piggy.

  6. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Mmm mmm. Tanny butter slathered pig

  7. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I’m taking my pigskin and going home. (Literally) LOL

  8. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Mike E, Yes, the org came out and said it wanted to lock Tanny up early & they believed in him.
Otherwise they would have don’t the 5th year option thingy with him in his rookie contract, or at least waited till this season was over then sign him on an extension, but they didn’t cause you could lose him in FA to another team.
Yeah, they have no confidence in Tanny & don’t want him here, but like seeing people get loads of upfront guaranteed money. Lauren needs a new AK & pear necklace. 😉

  9. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

    Rock, don’t say barring injury,
ya might see Miko release a wild boar from the sidelines that runs on the field and gores Tanny’s legs at this point.

  10. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

If you are slathering yourself with Tannybutter, please raise your hand…….I don’t get the accusation of people defending Tanny today. I don’t see it on what people have written on this board. Pink Piggy Panties Pinch

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Yes, Tanny needs to play better, but so does his team mates & coaches.
Seems Aaron Rodgers is having a hard time with a bad OL & receivers, same with Rivers, etc.
Oh, but they went to the playoffs before, so they are allowed the excuse nowadays of it’s a ‘Team Sport’….Tannehill is still in the “Individual Sport League…..just him and noone else blocking or tackling….lol smh

  11. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I don’t follow college football as much as some of you guys but are there any QBs out there that are worth a first round pick?

Here’s my thoughts on T’hill….I don’t think he’s awful, I don’t think he’s great. I think he was a reach at #8. He was woefully inexperienced at QB when he was drafted. It is what it is.

This is just speculation……so lets say there is this great QB that emerges in training camp next year. Can we move T’hill back to receiver to get something out of him?

    • Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

RANK PLAYER POS. POS. RANK SCHOOL CLASS HT. WT. PROJ. ROUND
      5 Paxton Lynch QB 1 Memphis rJr 6-6 230 1
      6 Jared Goff QB 2 California Jr 6-4 210 1
      19 Connor Cook QB 3 Michigan State rSr 6-4 220 1

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Not all that excited about any of those 3. Lynch has great physical attributes but is very raw and from a smaller school. Goff has polish but lacks great arm strength and Cook is not all that mobile and there are questions regarding his leadership skills. The guy was a senior starter at QB but wasn’t named team captain.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Throw Hackenberg into the mix and I am still underwhelmed.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

He is not going back to WR at this point. It would be far more likely that we can trade him in that scenario. I still think the most likely scenario is that he is our QB next season and if he doesn’t put it together at that point then with the contract provisions for 2017 he would likely be replaced at that point.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

NO. In fact, I haven’t seen a college QB who is coming out this season who is worth a Top 15 pick in round one. My wild-ass-guess is that the 1st QB taken will be either late in round 1 or some time in round 2. And the kid from Penn State may be the 1st QB selected. He is definitely NOT ready for the NFL at this point.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

QBs will go higher than that. They always do even if they are not really worth the pick there is a premium at the position that causes them to get overdrafted. Tannehill included in that.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Tannehill will never be a receiver in this league. Another team would take him as their QB should Miami not figure it’s franchise out and part ways with him.

Pats may need a solid QB soon when Brady retires. That’ll be right about when we cut ways with Tannehill with our stupid cursed luck…lol

  12. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

All of our interior OL are overmatched too often and Fox isn’t good enough to start week after week.

Our young DBs are overmatched at this time too. How many times were receivers wide open with nobody around for 10 yards? Too many!

LOL Jahn. Is that a case of great minds think a like or……..

  14. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

So if we’re all lathering ourselves in Tanny butter, is Piggy bathing in Suh sauce? LOL

BUT WHEN THEY DO, they ABSOLUTELY DESTROY A COUPLE OF RACKS OF PORK RIBS!! – – – Exactly how much abuse can a little Piggy tolerate??? –The Tannehills, simply put, are “Pork Eaters Gone Wild!!!” Speaking of which, the new TV reality show of the SAME NAME (“Pork Eaters Gone Wild”) features Lauren blasting away with her AK-47 shooting into a small barn loaded with little piggies!!! PIggy, take your pick. We can have ANY of these guys plus 2 or 3 unproven rookies to solve our problem at QB. Who is it to be?

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

We are not fixing QB through FA. It’s either continue to develop Tannehill or draft somebody and I am guessing we give Tannehill at least 1 more year.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Any of those guys could put this dysfunctional poorly schemed team on their shoulders and single handily ride off into the sunset with this franchise.

  16. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I was wondering yesterday during the game, how many times this season have we been in 2nd down and 13+ yards? We have to have set a record (at least it seems to me) (oh, and that is when we try to run up the middle from shotgun btw)

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

I love the empty backfield shotgun 4 wide out formations on 3rd and 2.

“Hey Defense, We just wanted to let ya know that we won’t be running, so see if you can pass rush us”

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Glad you pointed that out. We hit Parker on a nice gain the play before for a 1st down. So why do we run a route deep in the flat there? So right away we lose 3 yards that defenders had forever to react too. That’s been an issue all year, run too many plays that aren’t good plays to begin with.

  17. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I am out for now. Peace.

  18. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I am guessing we give Tannehill at least 1 more year.

Ken, with $18.5M in dead money next year I think that is a pretty safe bet….

That isn’t accurate. Only 1 person who covers this team believes in Tannehill. Everyone else has come to dark side.

Frank Gore, who scored two TD’s vs. the Dolphins, is now just 36 yards shy of 12,000 career yards rushing!! 12,000 career yards has kinda become one of the standard numbers for likely entry into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.

  23. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

On Monday, Campbell tried to tamp out the fire Miko Grimes lit.

When asked if he has spoken with Brent Grimes since the dust-up, Campbell responded:

“Any conversation that I have with Brent will be just between us,” Campbell said. “I’m going to keep anything that deals with that in-house.”

But Campbell added: “To be honest with you, I’m not concerned with those things. I’m concerned with the way our guys in our locker room handle their own business with each other. I’m not worried about outside noise.”

Brent Grimes, who is far more introverted than his wife, will not again speak to reporters until Wednesday. So it’s unclear if he will address the issue, or even agrees with her; he’s downplayed past controversies involving his wife.

But certainly, this isn’t the kind of attention he needs. His skills are unquestionably diminished this year, and it’s hard to envision the Dolphins keeping Grimes under his projected $9 million cap figure. By cutting him, the Dolphins would both save money and rid themselves of a distraction.

Hey kid, ya think that’s bad? Try living till you’re 80. Much more tough times ahead. So learn to deal with it and be happy for the little things like not living in Syria or N. Korea, for food on the table and breath in your lungs!

Brent has one more week with this team too.” …..”Do you think I give a minutes thought to what that crazy ho has to say?” “Listen guys, all of us here, all of us, our jobs are up for grabs in two weeks….How much do you think you can divide this locker room at this point? If you could how much do you think it really matters?”

  29. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

    son,
we had Douglas playing center. I’m surprised tanny didn’t die yesterday. Our center couldn’t remember the freaking snap count on the most important play of the game after a timeout.
That says is all about this oline and this coaching staff.

For those keeping score no matter the outcome Sunday, and I’m sure it will be a loss, Carolina has more wins this season than our last 2 combined.

  31. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Son, I’m just having some fun during a shit season. This team has been broken all year and for me that wasn’t going to change with the last few games. It’s the same game every week it seems. I wasn’t going to even watch yesterday but we stayed down the shore until about 5 so I said why not. I had the Jets/Pats game on the TV and the Phins game on the computer. Like I said earlier I just chuckled and SMH especially that we took a sack safety to get things started. I think I’ve seen this before. LOL

  32. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

According to Miko grimes the whole team hates tanny. IF that’s true then we have a real issue in the locker room next couple of years. I’ve never seen a team play well when the whole team hates the QB.

  33. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Son

I know man, and it hurts. I’m tired of the this team being irrelevant. Hopefully, whatever changes we make this off season help us get back to respectability and competitiveness.

  35. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

She’s very vile. She talks about Tannehill getting more people fired. Well, she likely just got her hubby fired and no other team will be willing to pay him much knowing he’s towing that clownbag around to infect their locker room.

  36. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Can we ever get through a season w/o some kind of personnel drama?

I’d imagine the locker room think highly of Tanny and the beating he takes without complaining.

  38. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

You can’t deny how tough Tannehill is that’s for sure. I’ve been critical of him because of decision making and playmaking or lack of but no one can question the dude’s toughness. They really should consider sitting him Sunday. Blood in his urine is not a good thing and that leg whip caused a lot of pain, there’s nothing to gain by playing him any more this year. One tough ombre, I hope if he does play he doesn’t get hurt anymore.

  39. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

This may be nothing, but then again, it may be a sign of something. I have noticed this for a while and it bothers me. Watch the Dolphins break the offensive huddle…..Most of the time the players are walking away from the huddle already when Tannehill “breaks” the huddle. If a WR or OL started to walk away from the huddle on Marino before he broke the huddle he would grab the guy by the face mask and get in his face.

Perhaps they do not respect Tannehill…Or perhaps it is all bull cocky.

  40. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Tim, yes and Miko managed to get herself fired from that radio show….yet she thinks Tanny is getting everyone fired. Bet she blames him for that and for the soon to be waived “Bae’….smh

Unfortunately Brent Grimes will be here next year again and probably starting again due to his $12M cap hit / dead money in 2016.
Below is the “Dead money” we paid out THIS year….
    —————————————————
Rock, i think ya looked at it wrong buddy. Grimes would only be 3mil dead money, he would be 6.5mil in cap savings. He would definately be worth cutting. Im not sure i would cut him however, but im sure with a new coach coming in, its going to be highly considered. To make the new coaches job easier, and to entice more coaches, there are several things you want.

  51. D's avatar D says:

Wake = 8.4 mil cap savings.
Grimes = 6.5 mil cap savings.
    Jennings – 4mil cap savings.
Dion Jordan = 3.2 mil savings
Koa Misi = 3.7 mil in savings.

There enough there (even if we keep Jordan or Misi) to go out and get a good pair of OG’s in FA, and possibly a LB as well.

    • D's avatar D says:

  55. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reports Brock Osweiler will start the rest of the season “barring some sort of collapse.”
Glazer said the Broncos are now “Brock Osweiler’s team” and any talk of Peyton Manning taking back the starting job has been “put on hold.” There are plenty of qualifications here, but the report makes sense after Manning suffered a setback last week. Osweiler has regressed in the last several weeks, but Manning has already shown he cannot be effective at less than 100 percent. No matter who is starting, the Broncos will have to rely on thier defense to find any postseason success.

  58. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

So we’re clear, the Green Bay Packers’ problems are not all on Rodgers. Far from it. But after a rough 38-8 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which exposed a lot of Packers deficiencies that were obvious to anyone watching this team critically the past few weeks, it’s also fair to wonder how much blame Rodgers deserves. He’s not playing well.

Rodgers’ interception with about a minute left in the first half, with the Packers trailing just 10-0 and driving, was a mistake a veteran quarterback can’t make. He also had two fumbles returned by Arizona for touchdowns. It was an ugly day, but there haven’t been too many pretty days lately for the reigning MVP.

The offense led by a two-time MVP had 37 passing yards at halftime against a Cardinals defense that is good, but was also without defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, its best player. The Cardinals defense isn’t the 2000 Baltimore Ravens; it gave up 318 passing yards to Blaine Gabbert less than a month ago. Yet it completely shut down Rodgers. And Rodgers couldn’t create the big plays he has made in years past.

The Packers are 26th in the NFL in passing yards, at 215.3 per game. That’s 24 fewer yards per game than the Houston Texans, who have used four quarterbacks this season and started Brandon Weeden on Sunday. If that stat isn’t your cup of tea, the Packers are 12th in passer rating and tied for 27th in average yards per pass. Nobody wants to totally cross the Packers off the list of championship contenders because of the possibility Rodgers gets hot and carries them in the playoffs, but it has been a long time since he played at that level. Rodgers hasn’t thrown for 300 yards in a win since Sept. 28. If he hadn’t completed a miraculous Hail Mary against Detroit, his season would look even worse at this point.

Rodgers has missed passes he hasn’t missed in years past. His accuracy has been off. His line hasn’t been great, but he seems more aware of the rush than ever before. His offensive line didn’t help much Sunday, but his hesitancy in getting rid of the ball didn’t help as he took eight sacks. Part of that is clearly a lack of trust in his receivers getting open. Nobody who has seen Adams drop passes or Cobb disappear from games would say Rodgers has a great supporting cast. But while that’s a factor, Rodgers just hasn’t played at a level he has set for himself through his great career.

The Packers go into a Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings with the NFC North on the line. The Packers are 4-5 since a 6-0 start, and one of the wins was the Lions miracle. Green Bay has looked like a mediocre team, at best, and seems like a good candidate for a one-and-done playoff trip. That’s a massive disappointment for a team that missed the Super Bowl last year because of an all-time choke job in the final minutes at Seattle.

I think we should go and get Hue Jackson. He should be our target.

  75. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Areas the team needs to upgrade.
    Offense:
OG – an experienced quality starter
OT – improved depth and potential
OL – overall better depth and development
    TE – more competition
    WR – another big WR
RB – a possible replacement for Miller
    QB – competition at #2

    Defense:
DE – an edge rusher and depth (there could be a lot of turnover here)
OLB – more impact and speed
    ILB – physical with instincts
CB – upgrades in overall talent level and competition
S – upgrades in overall talent level and competition

    STs:
KR – an upgrade that can limit Landry’s duties (I still like him on PRs)

This doesn’t mean we need 6-8 top players, just a few and some upgrades overall. It doesn’t take much to turn a decently talented team around with a few additions and adjustments.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I think we need 2 CBs,1 safety, I MLB, I DE rusher, 1 guard, 1Tackle minimum. That 7 new players minimum.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I don’t look at it as all new like that. I look at it as better with a few new additions and some young guys already here taking the next step. There will always be a dozen new additions at minimum for any team due to FA and injury etc. Young players do get better with some experience. We have a lot of them.

Yeah our backup qb spot is a fucking mess.

It’ll be interesting to see who the new coach or regime is.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I didn’t say a mess, it will likely be Thomas and someone else. I don’t think Moore will be back. Thomas was cut by a good Cards team as a 4th rd pick two years ago. He isn’t exactly a lock. Come on, Son.

  76. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Boulder, Hue Jackson’s Raiders team was 7-4 and finished 8-8. Sound familiar? 😉 He was then fired by Reggie McKenzie as the new GM. Understandable.

Now that doesn’t mean he’s not a good coach and potential HC again, but let’s keep things even keel about this stuff. Some people here are using selective reasoning for everyone else sans Miami.

so missing wide open wrs deep and just with max protection and dropping the ball off and relying on your defense is all a qb needs. ok cool, so maybe with him as coach tanny has a chance to be decent

By the way, the Bengals are one of the deepest talented teams in the league if you weren’t aware. You don’t go 9-7, 10-6, 11-5, 10-5-1 and 11-3 without talent. They have one of the best O-lines in the NFL as well.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Okay, you’re obviously in a bad mood and are looking to push buttons. I’m trying to look at the team overall and not one fuckin guy everyday. Our OL is not even NFL caliber but okay, blame the skill guys and specifically one guy.

Take the names out of it. It starts up front and we suck in pass pro. Also our offense never develops a rhythm even if RT hits on 8-10 at some point. There are probably 3-4 runs mixed in there. That’s not how you do it. We kill our own running game and passing game with dumb play calling. I find it absurd. I’ve never seen anything like it and it’s the same thing every week. I predict the play calls pretty well now by selecting the wrong play. It’s great fun!

Why do both announcers every week say Miami has to do something to protect Tannehill better – chips, doubles or max protects etc.? Because they all see what everyone sees if you’re not on an anti-Tannehill march. Our pass pro isn’t just bad, it’s not NFL level now. Look at the penalties too. False starts always on a good play. WTF do you want one guy to do about that every friggin week?!!!

i never said that. but tanny has one or two nice throws a game too. i am all for a discussion. but if the discussion is just tanny sucks then it is just boring and not factual. if you cant see how the bengals are calling a game to help out the qb, then i dont know what else to say.

and i am even saying this i dont know if tanny ever had a game called to help him out if he would be successful, i have never seen it happen. but i at least blame all areas of the team, just not point out one area that need improvement

Also this idea that guys who want to be head coaches will scoff at Miami because of the power structure. Yeah okay, millions of dollars, a young QB who has actually played well and put up good numbers, a dominant DT and other quality players and youth as well, will be such a downer for them. Stop!
