Guess what time of year it is!
Its time for the NFL Combine!
Time to get obsessed with 40 times and bench presses.
Vertical Jumps and Broad Jumps!
Cone Drills and Shuttle Runs!
Here’s the complete schedule!
Wednesday, Feb. 24
» Media interviews for running backs, offensive linemen and special teamers
Thursday, Feb. 25
» Media interviews for quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends
Friday, Feb. 26
» Media interviews for defensive linemen and linebackers
» On-field workouts for running backs, offensive linemen and special teamers
Saturday, Feb. 27
» Media interviews for defensive backs
» On-field workouts for quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends
Sunday, Feb. 28
» On-field workouts for defensive linemen and linebackers
Monday, Feb. 29
» On-field workouts for defensive backs
Some players I think are worth watching:
Two Ohio State Athletes:
The very fast Braxton Miller

And the Best Running Back in this Year’s Class, Ezekiel Elliot

Physical Freak of Nature Shawn Oakman

Track Athlete Jalen Ramsey, who may not wow in the 40 yard dash, but is expected to wow in everything else.

And Robert Nkemdiche, who better use the combine as a place to erase some of his red flags in the mind of many NFL scouts.

Its going to be a lot of fun!
Enjoy!!!

Kieth Marshall 4.29 40
page turn first
Drake 4.35
Yeah, I noted that on the last page. Shocked he did that after all his injuries.
D,
Did you see my post on the previous page of Nkemdiche outing Tunsil for the synthetic marijuana?
No i didnt. I knew Tunsil somehow was mixed up in it, they had a partial report of it previously. Still dont think it hurts his draft stock, might put he and stanley on somewhat equal footing though, before i would have said Tunsil is a guaranteed no 1 overall, maybe now it could be Stanley.
Alex Collins was 4.55 which imo isnt too shabby, Henry’s 4.51 is fucking fast for a guy that big.
Wendell Smallwood is a back i have been targeting in 7th round on the first pick mocks i have done. If i dont already take a RB ahead of time, i take him late, he put up a 4.43 40
Im really wanting to see Jonathan Williams 40, mostly just to see where he is in his recovery.
He’s not doing that until his pro day I believe.
Lol that picture of Ramsey above is one of the most awkward caught in the middle of a jump picture i have seen in a while.
The final leap of the triple jump😂
SB was sitting next to Cespedes in his Lambo Aventador
SB=Sugar Balls
D
If Tunsil fell to us, would you take him? I would, in a millisecond!
Yeah i would. It would be outside almost any draft plan i have done so far, but i couldnt pass on him.
Background is key just like Spence.
Little difference in a guy who was habitual with getting suspended for drug charges and a guy who has an otherwise unblemished record getting fingered by another guy who may be trying to repair his image by throwing someone else under the bus. Sad thing is Tunsil was constructive in how he mentioned Nkemdiche and his troubles in that interview i posted above.
No doubt, but as you said you still have to dig deep.
In regards to Nkemdiche…..who knows, maybe he was just tired of the label being wrongly attached to him.
Interview with Tunsil.
http://www.panthers.com/media-vault/videos/NFL-Combine-Ole-Miss-OT-Laremy-Tunsil/72f374bd-8c82-4bf0-8fed-02bbf4dcf7f4
Deandre Washington, another late round guy, who really caught my attention at Senior Bowl 4.45 40.
Damn did Aaron Green get snubbed from the combine invite?
Yes
Thats sad i think he would have put up some strong numbers.
Really happy for Marshall:
@uSTADIUM: Georgia RB Keith Marshall’s (1st ran a 4.29) second 40: unofficially 4.31.
DBolt if you told me to look at two guys side by side with the history they have and how they have handled themselves as a whole while in college, Noah Spence is a red flag, and Tunsil might be a yellow one, Nkemdiche an orange one. That said id take Nkemdiche in the second, and probably Spence too but id still be nervous by the selection in the second with Spence.
D,
It’s why I’m saying teams will know better than you and I. Tunsil could be more red flag than you and I know. You had the academic fraud issue at Ole Miss, etc. not saying Tunsil is a red flag, but he could be.
I love that Nkeidmiche actually has to acknowledge he was drunk when he fell out of a hotel window
bc that is the kind of thing that happens to sober people all the time…
He didnt fall out. He climed out on the ledge and then feel as i think he was trying to lower himself down.
fell
Not that that would make it look any better lol
Matt Miller @nfldraftscout 46s47 seconds ago
Keith Marshall clocks 4.29 and 4.31 unofficial in the 40
Blew away his estimated time and high end expected score
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=124180&draftyear=2016&genpos=RB
He has Miller like athletic traits and size. About an inch shorter and 5ish lbs lighter.
D,
Given former coach Mark Richt’s ability to scout NFL like backs, that’s a major plus I guess for NFL GMs

No doubt because the get to be one on one in interviews with him, but thats why i was saying the initial interviews Spence has done, at Senior Bowl, with the teams, and scouts was from what i saw reported, not good. Im not really going off my own opinion, as much as those reports. I am sure, however, that what you are saying is right and each team will know best whether or not he is worth the risk to them.

I heard the rumor like a month ago
It doesn’t affect my opinion of Turnsil
I’ve seen plenty of my drunk friends do dumb things….lol
Matt Miller said during SR. Bowl week that there would be some concerning news about Tunsil that’d get out in a couple of weeks.
I can’t believe Nkeimeche felt up a ledge?

I have said it plenty of times before, certain teams curn out NFL quality product from certain positions. UGA has always has turned out RB’s who are successful in the NFL.
RBs & OL….hits and misses at LB although I’d take Floyd and Jenkins on this squad anyday
Jenkins was someone i was interested in last year before he decided to go back to school, Floyd is going to be a beast i think,
So being drunk and falling from a window is Nkeimeche’s red flag?
Pretty much, his brother is a mess but the only really thing against Nkemdiche is the falling from a window thing.
Against Robert Nkemdiche i mean. Denzel is the brother that is a mess. Sad because he is a decently talented LB/SS guy too.
He’s a talented player. I wouldn’t mind seeing him on our team. Do you think he could play DE?
https://twitter.com/not_romo/status/703302521104834564
this is my triple axle Nkeideche dive
LOL
Devontae Booker also opted out of the 40. Seems thats an event he woulda wanted to do.
D,
Yep, It’s my opinion that NFL teams can save themselves alot of time in scouting resources etc if they ride the knowledge of the college coach (use the coach as a proxy in scouting) who has the better eye for talent picking at a certain position. Sometimes NFL front offices, as what happens in other professions as well, think they are smarter than the person who ultimately is the source to the success of others.
I think a lot of that happens during the scouting process. Teams already have grades on prospects. The combine and pro days is the last chance to meet face to face.
Im becoming pretty set on Kenyan Drake as a RB prospect for us.
Piggy,
I think Matt Miller is the one who mentioned it when I first heard it – which was like last month
Eric Galko mentioned it first
Flying Pig,

Obviously that person has not seen this haircut
If you are drinking
and your drunk friend does something stupid
and you don’t do the same thing
it shows good drunk judgment
and drunk judgment is invaluable
Tim,
Nkemdiche has the talent to play any spot in a 4-3 front and the DE spots on a 3-4.
That’s what I think based on what I’ve seen from him. Where do you think he goes in the and why would one drunken college incident be such a red flag against him?
Speaking of a guy like Mark Barron, is Sua Cravens from USC. He’s a hybrid S/OLB. Some experts have him as a Top 50 pick.

————————————–
He and Bullard both are really plug and play at any position on the DL, same with Chris Jones out of Miss State. He also plays fullback and has a beauty of a catch and sideline tightrope run for a TD during last years sason. Think JJ Watt, put him where you want him and he can do it.
Really is. Pure talent he might be top 3, but his effort is inconsistent and he admitted to that.

——
I really like Paul Perkins from UCLA…what’s funny is that on nfldraftscout they both are right next each other on the RB ranks (8 & 9 w/ a 3-4 RD expected draft range).
What I noticed about both these players is their great vision of seeing the LB & DB before they even get passed the LOS and how they set up their moves to make those guys miss or have them take bad angles and be out of position.
Nothing has affected my opinion on Tunsil, in fact I like him more & more each week.
I doubt he’s still on board @ #8 the way he’s getting talked up.
If he is, I’d either trade down if the offers were good enough, or just say screw it, & take him. If he excels in OTA’s & TC, then we could actually waive bye to Albert, or have this be Albert’s last year with us.
oops, my bad. I actually meant to say Stanley….coffee has worn off.
I saw Adam Schefter retweet this but talk about brothers from another mother …
If only Henry had been like Myles Jack and played 2 ways (RB/DE) …maybe it’s not too late to be Myles Jack 🙂

Some people are thinking about Duke S Jeremy Cash also possibly being a very good OLB candidate if he could somehow gain 20 lbs due to how well he plays around the LOS and behind it (or did while at Duke during run blitzes etc)
Yep, good call.

I’d shit all over that saddle….lol
This stick in my right hand will halt a hungry charging tiger😂
It’s to tickle his ears.
@FinsInsider: Ravens OLB Courtney Upshaw is expected to hit the market. He is best suited for a 3-4 scheme. Not great at rushing the passer.
He’s a load. Too big for a 4-3, unless at DE. He’s not real quick or fast though.
LMAO @ OV.

Also, remember the Doo that Jeff Samuda had to wear?
OV looks like a caramel macchiato. lol
Lol awesome.
@nfldraftscout: 4.48 seconds for CJ Procise at 220 lbs is very, very good. He can catch the ball well too. Should show up in position drills
When i was revieiwng RB’s i thought Daniel Lasco looked pretty good but i read a lot of people who were pretty down on him so i just bailed out, since i already had several candidates i liked as several different draft tiers. He is showing up really good at combine. Prosise too, but i really dont see Prosise as anything but a tandem back.

Watching the interview with Spence now. Im apretty impressed. Seems actually humbled and very straight forward. I am not sure how the interview went at Senior Bowl but this one was pretty good one.

Toward the end of the interview you could tell he was getting tired of the questions, but that was somewhat understandable, he got like 2 questions total regarding his playing ability and the rest was pure question after question about the drug use.
Wonders why the judge won’t grant him bail.
Don’t know if this guy is alive anymore😂
Black Lives Matter group got him. 😉
Him and your parole buddy drink toilet wine together 😂
LOL, yeah. That’s the best stuff.

Feel pretty equally good about his apologetic nature towards his past.
Al, besides Keith Marshall’s 4.31 40 time, he led all RB’s with 25 reps, he also had a nice burst of 1.53 in the 10 yd split.

He follows it wherever it Goesa.
NFL Media draft analyst Mike Mayock projects Arizona LB Scooby Wright as a third-round pick.
The analyst also pegged Wright as a future NFL starter. Wright is a divisive prospect in the Zach Thomas, a Tasmanian devil tackling machine who doesn’t run in straight lines very fast. Pro Football Focus adores Wright, ranking him as the No. 23 prospect in the draft. “The question for Wright is his athleticism in space, but we’ve seen other linebackers stay productive with similar concerns,” concluded PFF.

Bosa has a Roman nose. It’s roamin’ all over his face! Ba-dum-bum!
Fashionable: You know, you could de-emphasize your nose if you wore something larger. Like … Wyoming.

Tim how can you say that, he seems a quite considerate fellow, obviously he loves his women (or possibly men) very much, he made a heart for them to see no matter what direction they were facing him.
Cant see where his hand is but looks like he might be having one right now….
That was then, this is now….

Kinda fucked up what rookie hazing can do to a person.
Big Weirdo
Halapoulivaati Vaitai, had the best broad jump score. 113.0
Pretty damn good for a 310lb man. He was another guy who shut Ogbah down pretty well.
Interesting…. this does reflect great potential on run plays (burst off the line from a set stance) but I’ve never been able to figure out how the broad jump / vertical might be useful in analyzing potential of a guy walking backwards and defending a rusher on a pass play. The stat itself does tell you the leg and drive power for sure.
@nfldraftscout: Mighty Mouse Corey Coleman did 20 reps of 225
Shit, Spriggs has been in the top of almost every exercise.
Conner McGovern showing really good lateral quickness with a 7.50 3 cone drill.
The Broncos opened discussions with LT Ryan Clady on Friday.
The Broncos are hoping to lower his salary for next year. They’re hoping to do the same with DeMarcus Ware. Clady sat out last season after tearing his ACL during OTAs. With Von Miller, Malik Jackson, Danny Trevathan and Brock Osweiler all headed for free agency, the Broncos will need as much cap space as possible.
___________________________
No Clady, yet they still won the SB….lol. I wish we could get Trevathan, but Denver seems intent on resigning him.
If that old hag/hack Manniing will retire they will have tons of cap room. They are already significantly under the cap.
Trevathan is a 3-4 ILB im not sure he would be good as MLB in a 4-3. We have already seen those kinda of transitions go bad.
Right, but I think he could play just about anywhere. Maybe OLB for Miami and good in the 2 LB sets.
Kenyan Drake 123.0 broad jump, good burst power.
Henry had a 130
Dixon, Henry, Lasco, Ervin, and Drake all showing really good, powerful lower body strength and explosive power.

INDIANAPOLIS – Former Georgia linebacker Jordan Jenkins interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons at the NFL scouting combine.

OG’s dont always give ground off the snap on a pass play since their pass pro target is lined up a few inches away. You try to knock them back and then set into a defensive stance and wall off. If you are going backwards as an OG you have lost.
For an OG broad jump is a pretty important show of potential.
For OT not as much.
It’s funny yesterday we were discussing how 40 times are not that important yet today everyone is posting them.

Myles Jack said it would be awesome if he got drafted by the Vikings and re-united with Barr and Kendricks. I bet he wouldnt like the paycheck diference from being draft potentially by the Cowboys at 4 vs the Vikings at 23.
Maybe if Jack is still on the board when Miami is on the clock, the Vikings can come calling with a large booty matey.
Jason Spriggs combine so far. (53 OL participating)
1st in 40
4th in BP
1st in Broad Jump
tied for 16th in 3 cone.
2nd in 20 yard shuttle.
Dont know if the OL do the 40 yard shuttle or Vert jump but there are no scores for those for any of the OL so far.
D,
I heard an interview with Brothers on NFL Radio on my way home today. He sounded like a really nice guy.
He is awesome man, i spent time talking with him at the meet and greet and after the game. He remembered me from the meet and greet and shook my hand before getting on the bus to leave. Really solid guy.
I’m thinking I like Brothers better than Ragland. Maybe it’s the fact that Bama has so many other good defenders around Reggie.
They say Ragland showed up to the Combine down 12lbs. I wonder if that’s a weight he intends to maintain? I doubt it. He’s likely trying to show some quickness in the drills.
NIPPY HERE RIGHT NOW!! Think I’ll split a huge steak with Mrs. OD before walking the dogs. Our greyhound looking longingly at the grill!!!!!!
Enjoy OD. Nothing like a nice cut of steak grilled to juicy perfection.
Damn Harlan Miller’s stock is soaring right now. He might be a 2nd-3rd rounder before the draft gets here.

———————————
I have no doubt Ragland is the drafts best pure ILB, he has the combination of size, instincts and skills, but Brothers to me isnt far off and given there is about a full round difference in round evaluation i like the value of Brothers in the second over Ragland in the first, but thats also because i value drafting a CB over ILB in the first.
Ragland is very nice as a person too. He spent a lot of time meeting with fans after the game and he was a freindly guy at the meet and greet, but when he has the uniform on, he is all business. You can tell even when he isnt on the field he’s watching and analyzing. I think he will be pretty good, maybe not quite as dominant right out the gate as CJ Mosley was, but i see Ray Lewis kinda ability in Ragland.
Minus the murder part.
He had a total of 3 missed tackles for the entire season last year including playoffs. Thats pretty ridiculous.
That is real good. Something us Phins fans haven’t had since the days of ZT!
Brian, good to see ya on. Haven’t seen ya much. Hope things are slowly getting better for you & yours.
What’s your take on resigning OV and/or Miller? Seems to be mixed camps around here.
That would be a heck of a set of LBs for the Vikings
But they might want to focus on DL
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports Norte Dame LB Jaylon Smith is expected to miss the entire 2016 season.
It rules him out as a first-round pick. Smith is dealing with nerve damage in his knee/ankle. He’s expected to redshirt as a rookie, but may never make a full recovery. A top-ten talent, Smith led Notre Dame in tackles the last two seasons.
_______________________________
If true, he’ll fall way further than just out of the 1st round. He could go the UDFA route.
Doubt he goes UDFA, too much talent to just let it fall. There are teams out there with few enough needs who will pick him up and likely even be willing to part with a 2nd rounder for him. Some teams play with high level picks like most do with low level picks, we just dont know that feeling because we are never in the position to have such comfort in the draft.
Well, the words, ‘may never fully recover’ would be a No No if I’m GM. Hope we don’t have the same doctors we had when Coldpooper was being examined. 😉
Wow i just noticed Antonio Morrison got snubbed for the Combine too.
That’s surprising…is Blake Martinez there?
Yeah
Wow
Some people think he may even be a day 2 pick
D, Denver is $12 mil under the cap we’re at $8 mil under, and they have way too many guys to sign.
What a shame if that is true about Smith
Not fair at all
😥
I saw the play it happend on in the endzone & I was thinking maybe just a badly hyperextension, maybe with some meniscus damage at worst.
That does suck.
NFL.com had this to say about Demarcus Robinson and I pretty much agree with all of it, maybe even the comparison.
STRENGTHS Talent jumps off the tape early in the session. Electric vertical talent that can make cornerbacks rethink their coverage plans. Has shake at the line of scrimmage to free himself against press coverage and has adequate ball tracking skills. Graceful, flexible athlete with instant turbo acceleration. Has ability to hit the home run after the catch. Races off the line and forced cornerbacks into retreat opening easy comeback catches. Has talent and ability to make a living outside or from the slot.
WEAKNESSES Routes can be lazy at times. Will need to improve with selling fakes at break point of his routes as a pro. Too reliant on athleticism and speed over improvement of skill level. Hands are a concern with 11 drops to 106 catches at Florida. Plays smaller than his listed size. Suspended four times while at Florida. Scouts call him immature and selfish.
SOURCES TELL US “I think he’s really, really talented but the guy has been suspended four times. You don’t get drafted very high when you are ‘Mr. Suspension’. I’ll probably be in that room fighting for him late though.” — NFL executive

Fucking last game of the year too, and not a game that realy meant much of anything but to showcase him for the NFL and instead it may have really limited his chances to make it.
