A Look at the 2016 NFL Draft

2016 NFL Draft

So many possibilities exist, because despite all the prognostications, no one really knows how things are going to shake out on draft day, which incidentally, is only 1 week away!  7 days folks, and ALL the First-Pick and Fanspeak mock drafts will disappear, at least for a few months until we start them all over again.  We’re hardcore fans, we can’t help it!

What I’m going to do is give you all a look at how our draft appears to be shaping up and who seems to be popping up the most for us at #13 .  I could go further, as 7 RD mock drafts are more commonplace, especially this late in the game, but I think it gets silly to try and determine all 7 RD’s, so we’ll just look at the 1st RD.

With the 13th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select . . .

I’ll start with NFL.com  . . .

_________________

According to all the mock drafts I have listed above, this is how it all stacks up.

It’s pretty obvious that most of the people who put in some time think we’re drafting a CB.  Although the vote is somewhat split among 3 players, Eli Apple, William Jackson III and Vernon Hargreaves III or Mackensie Alexander, the majority of selections were us taking a CB.  The winner, by just 1, and of course, there are literally thousands of mocks, which kind of made this exercise futile, but, I did it so, the winner is . . .

Ohio State CB  – Eli Apple 6’1″ 199

Wait!!!!  What’s this????  It’s a TIE????  Yes, it’s a tie!!!!   After tabulating all the selections, it seems as if we have a tie between Ohio St. CB Eli Apple and Ohio St. RB Ezekiel Elliott!

Ohio State RB  – Ezekiel Elliott 6’0″ 225

NCAA FOOTBALL: OCT 10 Maryland at Ohio State

Ohio State CB – Eli Apple

NCAA Football: National Championship-Ohio State vs Oregon

Ohio State RB – Ezekiel Elliott

LB Darron Lee, CB William Jackson III and DE Shaq Lawson get honorable mention falling just one shy with 4 selections.

I can’t believe the draft is just a week away people.  The draft is something I always look forward to, and yet somehow,  get disappointed how it turns out.  Let’s hope we get what we need, and give our new Head Coach Adam Gase the right tools to work with.  No question we’re short on CB’s, so there is little doubt we will be selecting one early, if not necessarily 1st.  I think we might take two CB’s, but we’ll see how it turns out.

Are we done tinkering with the O-line? Do we have our starting OG’s in house?  I don’t think so, so I expect at least one early pick on an OL, maybe an OG, or an OT who will be moving to OG.  We need a youth infusion at DE as well, so I won’t be shocked if we go DE early either.  I feel like we need a solid LB, but we did trade for Alonso, and Jenkins should round back into form, which leaves Misi.  We know what Misi can give us, but I want better.  We also have to hope Alonso can regain his rookie form, when he was a dominant player.  I’m leery counting on him, but it seems like the team isn’t.

We have 8 total picks at the moment . . .

#13, #42, #73, 107, #147, #186, #227 and #231.  Do we finish the draft with 8 picks, or less, or maybe more?  Tune in next Thursday, and find out.

    Nice article Mike.

  2. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

If Miami does go BPA based on their board, none of our opinions matter, and it’s a player outside of corner then I’d expect CB to be taken much later in the draft & Miami will push to lock up Hall after the draft.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

And if Miami doesn’t go BPA, they our opinions do matter? I wasn’t notified by the team of this, how do I get my pick in 😛

  3. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

DraftSite has Apple too. There’s your tie breaker.
Boo what a shit pick he’d be.

    • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

Wouldn’t be my favorite. With that said he is unquestionably the best press guy out of the top corners and is very physical. My issues with him is he’s late coming out of his breaks, play awareness, & even though he’s physical as hell taking on blockers including OL he sucks at tackling.

  4. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

I’d take mystery apple before eli apple.

  5. jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

i wonder what alonso stats were when he had his rookie season.Did he play his rookie season when the Bills NT Williams had over 100 tackles. I think he led all DL in tackles that yr and he was top 10 of all defensive players that yr also. That info would probably give us a good indication of the type of player we are getting.

  6. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Anyone here think we have a legit shot, or are even pursuing Josh Norman?

    • jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

to me my personal opion is leave him alone and draft a CB early if not the 1st round. Salary cap issues can arise if he is just a system player.

  7. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Son

I listed Draftsite’s pick of Eli Apple and that selection was tabulated. I don’t get to use the word tabulated very often, so I’m going to milk it for what it’s worth.

  8. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I would be pretty up set if Eli Apple was our pick

  9. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Good stuff mike e
    Piggy Kiper approves

  10. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

    Mike,
They could also sign The Populator of Worlds….Antonio Cromartie on a low risk contract if need be.

  11. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Good stuff, Mike. I’m getting the feeling that fans dislike more prospects than they like. So it’s setting up nicely for a bitch fest with whoever we pick. LOL

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That does seem pretty likely. In the small sampling I posted above, there were 10 different players mocked to us. While CB is a definite need, we can go just about any direction at #13, including moving up or back.

  12. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The good thing is we know for sure 2 QB’s will taken before us, which moves a position player to us.

  13. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We should come up with a top 11 list to get a feel for who we could end up with.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I don’t think anyone would question Tunsil and Ramsey at the top

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. The concerns about Jack’s knee clouds things a bit but I’m pretty sure he along with Bosa and Stanley would be somewhere in the next 3-4 picks along with Buckner who is always listed pretty high.

  14. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I think this guy is a major ass but we should do whatever we can do to sign Josh Norman

  15. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    SB

I think signing Norman would give us a pretty solid CB tandem, and of course, would give us the flexibility to get better somewhere else. You know I’m not a fan of big spending, but with the shortage of talent we’ve left ourselves with at CB, I’m willing to do that.

    • sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

I’m not, but that’s not what my post was about anyway.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Oh? What was it then? I missed the hidden message . . .

I could be wrong, but Norman is one of the better CB’s in the league right now, and he just turned 28, so I’d expect he’d have at least 3 good seasons left. In today’s NFL, you need 3 good starters, and then at least 2 quality depth guys at CB. We have 1 starter, and then a bunch of ??? in Taylor, McCain, Lippett, Ekpre-Olomu. If we don’t sign Norman, which is probably the way it will go, we need to draft at least 2 CB’s, and 1 very early, and another not too late. Or, sign a free agent later on. Do you disagree?

  16. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Tim

Tunsil, Ramsey, Buckner, Bosa, Jack, Elliott, Hargreaves, Stanley. After that, it gets a little cloudy.

  17. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

NIce write Mike E — Amazing we could get almost as many players mocked to us as there are picks ahead of us when we pick that early.

I’ll bet you Ross is hoping for Ezekiel…..that would sell tickets even if CB might make more sense, but then we could double down on that.

  18. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Josh Norman is a shut down corner. Hard to over pay one of those

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

If people argue we overpaid Suh
people will argue we overpaid Norman

Suh is a better football player than Norman

I’m not saying we should not sign him
I’m just saying fans can’t have it both ways

  19. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

So this weird, really good song is playing now on my iPod. Any of you guys ever hear of the song “When I’m Dreaming”? There is no artist listed . . .

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      You serious, Clark? 😉

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yeah man, I’ve had it on my iPod since I got it. I like it.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Two guys delivered some furniture to us yesterday. The younger one’s name was Clark. At one point I said “You serious Clark”…..and he had no idea what I meant and that’s his name. We are getting old.

  20. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I finally checked out that show “Vinyl” on HBO. I totally dig it, and my wife likes it too. Another show to entertain us. GOT is coming this weekend, which will replace Black Sails, because that just finished up a week or so ago.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

The only shows I watch are GOT and The Walking Dead

Its sort of a relief when there is a break between the 2 shows and its not football season
All the sudden I can use Sunday to get things done

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I like it too because of the historical story line even though it’s not all factual. But I will say it sort of flat lined for me even though I still enjoy it. Bobby Cannavale is very good in it.

  21. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Mike, do you know the artist who wrote and performs “When I’m Dreaming”?

  22. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Stanger, if you wanted to upgrade to Vacation 2016 you could have told Clark he’s a piece of ass. LOL

  23. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Josh Norman would be a nice signing
I really don’t want to cut guys (like Wake) to sign him
Norman had a great year last year

but its not like his entire career has been pro bowl level

The best thing Norman could have done for himself is to stay with the Panthers
but I applaud the guy and his agent for trying to capitalize on his great year

He really should go to a team with a ton of cap room bc its going to be a big cap hit
But if you have the room of a tea like the 49ers or Jaguars it doesn’t really set you back, you can still be players

We have enough cap room to sign him
but its just enough, and it will lead to wiggling other contracts around

    it can work for us
and he would fill a big hole

but its a little tight and I’m not going to blame the team for not getting into that sweepstakes and relying on the draft to add players

  24. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    If we signed Norman
    You can bet
the first time he gives up a long pass, and he will
the guy gets crucified by the fans

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Just like Suh did for the poor run defense.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

People really have to pick a direction and stick with it

Isnt; this year the year we don’t have any big signings
        Norman is a good CB
but every year there is a good __________

1 player doesn’t solve all of our problems
its a combo of players, coaching, a system, etc that’s gets us where we want

but I do think have blue chip players (like Suh) are foundational pieces

I think calling Norman a blue chip player is a bit of a stretch even though he is a top CB int he league right now

    Tim

Tunsil, Ramsey, Buckner, Bosa, Jack, Elliott, Hargreaves, Stanley. After that, it gets a little cloudy.
    ***************

I pretty much think this is accurate
If you add the 2 Qbs that go 1 and 2
    that is 10 players
Which means some of the players we can really use might go off the board right before we pick
If you add Shaq Lawson who is probably the #1 guy in the cloudy category you are 11 picks in

and then 3 guys jump out at me as the BPA
    Conklin, Lee and Ragland

You can make an argument for Treadwell, Rankins, Robinson, Floyd being the next guys up
I don’t think any of them are really good picks for us
    but arguably Floyd might be
but Treadwell, Rankins and Robinson seem like really bad picks for us

and then there are 3 CBs I think different people have different opinions of
    Jackson, Apple and Alexander
and any of the three can go top 10 or can go after we pick

I kinda think the draft is going to be painful to watch
We might watch players who we can really use go off the board immediately before we pick
And that is tough when you traded down

  26. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

I don’t see Norman in a hurry to sign with the 49’ers, Bucs, or Jaguars. None of those teams have been contenders for years.
He really should’ve been more patient with Carolina.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

      He wasn’t impatient
the Carolina rescinded their offer to him

      He had big demands
they decided not to do it

the only thing he could have done differently I sign his franchise tender
locking the panthers into the frnachise tag when they placed it on him

but really the lost patience was on the side of the panthers – who just decided his demands were too high for them to keep negotiating

he will probably get the money he wants on the open market
it won’t be from a contender though

      • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Right, I meant he should have not came at them with a $15M demand, and been patient in the process, sign the tender, and let them iron out the new deal later.

  27. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Tim

I thought I went to the Jets game with that artist

  28. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Piggy

Agree with the one player doesn’t solve everything. That much is very true. The thing is, I didn’t think we were especially deficient at DT when we signed Suh. Hard to argue that we’re not extremely deficient at CB though. I thought Suh was a luxury signing, whereas Norman fits a real need.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

      I thought Suh was a
“we build around this guy” signing for a team who didn’t have players that were at that level

I think Norman would be a signing to fit a need
but I don’t think its the same category of player

      He definitely fits a need
I’m not a big spending money hater
I just really prefer you spend that money on special players you didn’t have a shot to draft rather than filling needs

I am fine using free agency to fill needs
but those should be modest signings unless the player is special
But I’m hesitant to spend the big money out of desperation to fill a need

Its not that I think Josh Norman is bad
I think he is one of the top CB in the game right now
but I do question the longevity of his play at that level
and his ability to play at that level in a different system

  29. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    Maybe something like this.

    1. LA – Wentz
    2. PHI – Goff
    3. SD – Tunsil
    4. DAL – Ramsey
    5. JAC – Bosa
    6. BAL – Stanley
    7. SF – Lynch
    8. CLE – Elliot
    9. TB – Hargreaves
    10. NYG – Jack
    11. CHI – Rankins
    12. NO – Lawson
    13 MIA – ?

  30. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Piggy:
I would rather overpay for a CB than a DT and it won’t be anywhere as the same ballpark as to what we payed Suh

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Obviously — he would improve the team and man would it free us up in the draft. Are we really ready for another big name big contract though? We have two heavy long-term contracts already. And not like we are doing the push for a ring.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

That is overempshasis on the position IMO

Its one thing to decrease the value of RB or increase the value of QB based on positional value

and maybe LT and pass rusher are premier positions as well

but when you get into CB vs DT the difference is pretty slim

we can argue OG v C and one is probably more valauable than the other
      but its marginal

I’m not sure that I agree that CB is more valuable than DT
An elite DT can change everything about the way defense is played up front

but I would probably pay a lot for a player like Joe Haden
its not the position – its the player, who I think is special

He doesn’t get the attention of a Norman
but he’s been doing it longer and more consistently than Norman
and will probably (Piggy prediction only) do it longer than Norman

That’s a foundational kind of player like Suh is
he just happens to play for a team that poops on its foundation – just like Suh currently does
      😦

  31. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“We have enough cap room to sign him
but its just enough, and it will lead to wiggling other contracts around
    it can work for us
and he would fill a big hole”

Pig — we absolutely could sign him. A big plus is that he is 28. So he has window. And he absolutely fits need.

My give minus on him is that the Panthers let him go. Maybe they couldn’t get the long-term redo done, but they still could have had him for another year and they are obvious contenders. Yeah he might have been disgruntled, but he also would have been playing in a year where it was all about his next contract too. If anything have learned that shows up on the field more than anything.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I read the team realized a long-term deal wasn’t going to get done so they decided to move on.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

His 30 is probably worse than the average pro bowlers 30
      Just one pig’s opinion
He is in his prime right now
      That is true
I’m not sure his prime has a whole lot of time left on it

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Ross wants to win now and has told management to be bold, think outside the box and make big moves if you have to.

  32. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

Fans too often wear flip flops. Find that hidden message Mike E. Lol

  33. D's avatar D says:

Would expect NO to take a CB vs a DE. Their secondary was shredded every game last year.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

No pass rush. That comes first and Lawson is BPA IMO.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

the entire defense was pretty bad
I suggested a QB the other day to bring up behind Brees

but they could easily be a bad team next year unless their defense got better fast

so I do think DB and DL is big time int he cards for them

  34. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Yeah I agree GDP
Why not sign a tender when you are on a contender
and maybe you work out the deal later

But I think its a legit gamble
He will be a year older in 2017

and that iron is particularly hot right now

2016 is his window and I think both his agent and him realize that
which kinda brings me full circle to the longevity of his play at the level he played in
I’m wondering if even his agent and Norman realize its kind of a right now sort of thing

  35. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Tim

Ross the team hasn’t approached this offseason in win mode now
I don’t know why you believe that
You don’t let Miller and OV go and take such delight in the comp picks we will recoup if you are in win mode now

    that’s not criticism by me

I don’t want WIN NOW mode
but I don’t think we are in

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

OV is not worth anywhere near what he got and Williams is on a 2 year deal. Miller chose Houston because he believed he has a better chance there to get the touches he’s looking for, it wasn’t about money even though you guys think it was.

We’ll see what mode we’re in, I think we are in win now mode (2 years). That doesn’t mean you have to stock up on a bunch of aging guys. But some of the contracts suggest that and that includes Tannehill.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t disagree on your arguments of why we didn’t sign OV and Miller

But entertaining those arguments is proof that we are not in win mode now
teams in win mode now do not think like that

we might win bc we just have better coaching
but I do not think this offseason has the win mode ring to it

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We tried to sign C. J. Anderson. Every move we’ve made has been for starters.

  36. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    SB

You would have to consider me a flip-flopper in this case, and I get that. I know I made it clear that I want to build through the draft. If I could do a do-over, I wouldn’t have signed Suh, and I would have signed Norman this season as he became available. I still stand by my assertion that Suh was a luxury signing, and Norman would be a need signing. We have nothing at CB but serious question marks after Maxwell.

On the other hand, we can make do drafting a CB early, and then adding another one somewhere in the draft, and then signing a cheaper vet during the 2nd wave of free agency. It’s just that Norman is a quality player at a position of definite need, so I’d make an exception in this case.

  37. Ken's avatar Ken says:

CB is a position of increasing importance. Last 3 SB teams had an elite CB in Seattle with Sherman, Pats with Revis and Brancos with Talib. All were major reasons why their respective teams won the SB

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

      All true

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Think about how much Seattle invested up front. The year they won the super bowl they spend a ton of free agent money on pass rushers. Think about how good that entire secondary is – not just the CB

How about Denver with Von Miller and Ware – they are a lot more valuable to that D than Talib

Revis I think was a difference maker with the Patriots.

I actually think Norman was a difference maker with the Panthers. But I think their front 7 was a much bigger difference maker…those Carolina LBs…all 1sxt round picks….all very very good

but really that defense became able to stop the run when they drafted Star Lotulelei and Kawann Short in the 1st 2 rounds of the draft following the Keuchly draft
Think about the investment in the front 7 Carolina made and the small investment they made in Norman as a 5th round pick

CB and the one we are talking about – Norman was not a difference maker for them
That front 7 is something else
and will probably be great in 2017 again

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think I just argued That Norman was and was not a difference maker….better just stop now

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      Pass rush too.

  38. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Just one thing . . . For everyone saying Suh was a great signing, did he make our defense better? Whether you think he played well as an individual or not, did he transform our defense into a better one?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

No but he can’t do that unless he was the last piece to the puzzle and that wasn’t the case. There was a lot of poor play at other positions.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

and now Norman is going to make us a better defense?

That is the standard for signings ?
Norman bc a good or bad signing depending on how we play in 2016 after we sign him?

      Got a time machine?
It doesn’t have to go too many years into the future – I only need 1 year to examine whether Norman was a good signing or not

we might want to start bulding a team on a philosophy instead of how they played after we signed them, instaead of judging after time travel

I’m not arguing nthat Suh is a good signing
I’m arguing that craziness of arguing he is not and that we should now sign Norman

  39. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

All this talk about Norman, really shows how bad it hurts when you miss on early draft picks.
    Jamar Taylor was a 2013 2nd rd. (54) & Josh Norman was a 2012 5th Rd. (143).

Look who’s getting the huge payday, from Coastal Carolina noless.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I disagree. I think Norman would have been better than Grimes, especially more consistent. Grimes seemed run down by the middle of the season.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

That is just a little “what have you done lately” for me
in 2014 Grimes was probably playing at a better level than Norman

Sure in 2015 Norman was better – with the Panthers who had everything working like a machine

I wonder, put Grimes on the Panthers in 2015 – how does Grimes perform

to me the writing is on the wall with Norman
All he has to do is get beat a couple of times
and he is a horrible signing
But if he signs this week – “we did it!”

Morning folks….interesting thoughts on Josh Norman. For mine let someone else overpay the arrogant prick. Lippett will be better than him very soon. By all means draft a CB but not @13. That belongs to Conklin or Elliot if they are gone the best DE left.

  52. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Tim is right above. We’ve all read that Norman played in a off man & zone coverage primarily, but that’s not to say he can’t press & be physical.
You all saw the physical pressure he put on OBJ both on the line as well as off it.
He does show a unique skill set for disrupting the flow of a receivers route.
It’s a fine line there to be aggressive, yet without drawing flags all the time.
Got to irritate that receiver, get into his head some, distract his concentration of him nailing his routes.

There were a lot of areas on the team that were shit last year. I so want to put that season behind us and move on. So many things went wrong. Ugh!

There is talent on the DL, at LB and in the secondary. We need to get those players going and add some talent to the mix. Then let’s hope the coaching is on another level.

  55. uwantwat's avatar uwantwat says:

Nailed it in one Tim. My thoughts exactly.

  56. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Norman is a good player. I doubt we have a realistic shot at him because I do think lots of teams will be bidding for his services, and the price tag will be ridiculous. But regardless, we need to draft a CB in this draft. Our cupboard is pretty bare. We need better talent at the position. I think DL is more important, but you need competent guys at CB. Do we have two competent, solid CBs on our roster? And, I wouldn’t expect any CB we have a shot at drafting to come in and lock down the position. That just doesn’t happen often at CB unless it’s a Patrick Peterson-type guy….especially if you want them to be press guys.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I still have a guy feeling we could DE in the 1st rd and then address corner in the 2nd or 3rd and maybe then again in the 5th.

I could see a draft like this.
      1. DE
      2. CB/OG.
      3. CB/OG
      4. RB
      5. CB

  57. uwantwat's avatar uwantwat says:

GD… would you pay Norman the money he wants, that is the question?

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

No, I wouldn’t pay him ‘what he wants’, which is said to be north of $14M. But I’d pay him more than Maxwell @ $10.5 making him a top 6 CB pay wise in the NFL.
That is a lot to tie up in 2 CB’s alone…..it will be a tough decision that I’m sure our FO is mulling.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I would pay him more than Maxwell in the blink of an eye

Would be different if we were in get the ring mode, but we ain’t. At least have to make the playoffs to think that right. You push the envelope just to make them and that is bad planning.

Didn’t check…….but how many Superbowl winners didn’t make the playoffs the year before since they expanded the playoffs? My guess is not many. For me that is the first step to even going there.

Iron Man was my favorite comic book character, and I feel the need to point out that was NOT how Tony Stark became Iron Man. lol

He was hit with a piece of shrapnel, and it was right near his heart. and he created a power source that kept his heart going should the shrapnel move into his heart. He then created the Iron suit to protect himself.

  95. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Tim

That was the real origin of the character Iron Man, yes. It was in the war, he stepped on a mine, and a piece of shrapnel went into his chest dangerously close to his heart.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yes, it’s also true that he was my favorite character, I used to draw him all the time. I actually had the #1 issue, but like a stupid kid that I was, I didn’t take good care of it. It would have been worth a lot right now.

    • D's avatar D says:

They held pretty close to that witht he film version, just a higher level of technology in how he got the shrapnel. Its modernized but still pretty close to the original story.

    • D's avatar D says:

I had X-Men from about 1-10, but i have 0 clue where they are anymore. They didnt come with me when i left from home and i dont know what my parents may have done with them. Had a butt ton of those Superman Doomsday, death of superman issues too. Gi-Joe, Transformers, lots of different marvel comics. Maybe i should take a shot at finding them to pass on to my kids or something.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I loved Iron Man, Spider Man, the Hulk, and the Fantastic Four. Those were my faves. I also had a Marvel Origin Book, which also went missing. I love that book. Not only could I not find it in my house, I can’t find it anywhere on the web either to buy it.

  96. D's avatar D says:

I think Norman is a press-zone CB, and thats better for us than a straight cover 2/tampa 2 guy. I do think he has good recovery skills and coverage, he and hargreaves are a lot alike, Hargreaves will just be about 20mil less. My issue with Norman isnt if he is suited for our defense, its that i think the 20mil a year kinda deal i have heard he is looking for is rediculous. Id pay 12-13, but then you have to realize even at 13 we would then have around 30mil invested in our secondary and another 45-50 on our DL. Thats a ton of money. We cant have high priced vets at every single spot we do need to draft to have some of those spots covered with a smaller dollar-sign. I think Norman is just out of our range of what we can afford to put into it.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

If he’s looking for $20M per, he won’t find that here, no shot.

      • D's avatar D says:

I think 20 may have been an early rumor im seeing a few of them now saying he is looking for 16, which i also think is too high. We have 19 in cap space and still have a rookie class to consider.

  97. D's avatar D says:

Damn it looks like the Detah of Superman issue i have several of are going for 75-95$ these days.

  98. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Mike, that’s why I said above that missing on 2nd rd picks like Jamar Taylor really sets you back as a franchise. We also missed on Will Davis a 4th rd.
Let’s hope these late round CB’s we drafted under a GM not named Jeffro will begin to show some worth.
Plus we need to hit on a CB somewhere in the top 3 round this year.
