So many possibilities exist, because despite all the prognostications, no one really knows how things are going to shake out on draft day, which incidentally, is only 1 week away! 7 days folks, and ALL the First-Pick and Fanspeak mock drafts will disappear, at least for a few months until we start them all over again. We’re hardcore fans, we can’t help it!
What I’m going to do is give you all a look at how our draft appears to be shaping up and who seems to be popping up the most for us at #13 . I could go further, as 7 RD mock drafts are more commonplace, especially this late in the game, but I think it gets silly to try and determine all 7 RD’s, so we’ll just look at the 1st RD.
With the 13th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select . . .

According to all the mock drafts I have listed above, this is how it all stacks up.
It’s pretty obvious that most of the people who put in some time think we’re drafting a CB. Although the vote is somewhat split among 3 players, Eli Apple, William Jackson III and Vernon Hargreaves III or Mackensie Alexander, the majority of selections were us taking a CB. The winner, by just 1, and of course, there are literally thousands of mocks, which kind of made this exercise futile, but, I did it so, the winner is . . .
Ohio State CB – Eli Apple 6’1″ 199
Wait!!!! What’s this???? It’s a TIE???? Yes, it’s a tie!!!! After tabulating all the selections, it seems as if we have a tie between Ohio St. CB Eli Apple and Ohio St. RB Ezekiel Elliott!
Ohio State RB – Ezekiel Elliott 6’0″ 225

Ohio State CB – Eli Apple

Ohio State RB – Ezekiel Elliott
LB Darron Lee, CB William Jackson III and DE Shaq Lawson get honorable mention falling just one shy with 4 selections.
I can’t believe the draft is just a week away people. The draft is something I always look forward to, and yet somehow, get disappointed how it turns out. Let’s hope we get what we need, and give our new Head Coach Adam Gase the right tools to work with. No question we’re short on CB’s, so there is little doubt we will be selecting one early, if not necessarily 1st. I think we might take two CB’s, but we’ll see how it turns out.
Are we done tinkering with the O-line? Do we have our starting OG’s in house? I don’t think so, so I expect at least one early pick on an OL, maybe an OG, or an OT who will be moving to OG. We need a youth infusion at DE as well, so I won’t be shocked if we go DE early either. I feel like we need a solid LB, but we did trade for Alonso, and Jenkins should round back into form, which leaves Misi. We know what Misi can give us, but I want better. We also have to hope Alonso can regain his rookie form, when he was a dominant player. I’m leery counting on him, but it seems like the team isn’t.
We have 8 total picks at the moment . . .
#13, #42, #73, 107, #147, #186, #227 and #231. Do we finish the draft with 8 picks, or less, or maybe more? Tune in next Thursday, and find out.

Happy Passover to those who celebrate!
The same to you. I’ll be heading down the shore with my daughter tomorrow for the holiday. My wife left last night to go see her Dad who’s in the hospital. Sadly he won’t be able to join us for the holiday, but we’ll all go to see him.
That’s nice that you guys will at least see him. Sad that he can’t do it out of the hospital.
maybe you can get him a phone that allows you to see him while talking. It’s so cool that you make it a point to see him.
We must visit our elderly & the sick in hospitals. A year or so ago, i began helping our pastor as assistant chaplain, to go visit those in hospitals, hospice, & nursing homes.
It means soooo much to them to know someone out there cares. To see a face they may know besides doctors & nurses all day. Someone that will talk to them, listen to them, pray for or with them, as well as just sit there and keep them company by watching a tv show together or listening to some soft soothing music.
It does both their heart & mine just as much good.
that’s very nice of you.
That’s great GDP
That’s awesome and there is power in kindness like that.

Probably for the best, since this offseason has been about building sensibly and not making the huge splash deals like we did with Suh.
I guess so. It doesn’t make sense to have another huge contract
I never really got on that bandwagon, didn’t think it would happen.
I visit this site daily. Does that count GDP?
LOL – Yes, you’re a good little boy
jetssuck, my father-in-law isn’t one for many visitors except for close family. So he wouldn’t want everyone looking at him in a hospital bed via video. Though we do have that technology via FaceTime.
Guys, please don’t heap praise on me. I don’t go near as often as I should, or as often as the sick people really need. I need to be better at it. We all have to do our part for our fellow man & do it with a humble heart not expecting any reward. It has to come from the heart.
Many times, I just think of how one day that will probably me laying there, alone, afraid, hurting. It’s nice to have some human contact that makes that time more comforting.
It’s actually a form of tithing too. It’s not always about throwing money in a plate. You can tithe by giving your time, or old clothes, or food for people in your communities. They don’t have to be sick in a hospital bed.
This summer, go mow a elderly, sick person, or single mother’s lawn without charging them. Fix their fence, wash their car, trim their tree or hedges, drop off water or ice for them, etc.
There are many cool ways to help someone that can mean the world of difference to them.
All good stuff.

I call this draft “Pass Defense first”
I like Alexander a lot and I took him over Apple and Jackson and they both went off the board right after we picked. So there were 3 CBs in a row
I think we might take a CB at 13
Do we need a safety? We should at least acquire one to groom
Cash can be a great safety in this league IMO
Then I looked up in the 3rd round and the 2nd best pass defending LB was on the board
After that I still managed to nab the RB I wanted and I have a couple of bodies on OL who can compete for jobs

If the Dolphins truly are comfortable with the CBs on the roster after Byron Maxwell as they look for two more starters, they’re delusional.
Armando the scout chimes in. That’s what I hate about these fucking reporters. Report the happenings of the team, stop acting like you’re a coach or a scout.
If you put Armando, Omar and Perkins in a room and asked them to break down the game of football you’d probably set the place on fire before killing yourself. LOL

yikes, i’m cringing just seeing that last name (I bet Pro Lou is breaking plates reading this).
Gase has said the same as Tbomb is now saying. We’re not 1 player away off of a 6-10 season. So passing on Norman’s search for huge money is keeping with this offseason strategy & not deviating from a solid plan that you laid out. That is what got us in trouble in the past.
Some years, yes you go big with contracts, then the next year, you should be sound & reel it in.

From PFF’s grades of last years draft
14. DeVante Parker, WR, Miami Dolphins
Draft Grade: B-
A late-season surge showed Parker’s potential as he became a downfield weapon for the Dolphins. He brings a little wiggle to his route running for a big receiver while showing the ability to make plays in contested situations. If Parker continues to progress, he’ll be a home-run pick for the Dolphins.
Jalen Ramsey said Sammy Watkins and Devante Parker were the 2 toughest receivers he matched up with.
Parker killed FSU
Assuredly the only reason it wasnt higher was the fact he didnt contribute more due to being out of the lineup most of the year. He looked really promising those last few games.

It’s as if the reporters never learn. Every GM says the same thing. Except the Eagles GM uses ice cream and pizza comparisons. LOL
Yeah his comments are the epitome of answering a question without saying anything.
A perfect example:
Grier asked about Ezekiel Elliott: “He’s a good player… There’s a lot of good players and he’s one of them” LOL
Pre-draft press conferences are silly. We all know what the team needs and we all know the team can’t say what it is going to do.
LOL at the typical GM speak. What does the media expect?
Grier on if he is nervous about the upcoming draft:
Yeah, actually I am nervous as shit. I’m not really sure what i’m doing and am just trying to fake it through this draft.
Grier on what he thinks for our current roster:
Man they all suck. We need upgrades at every position. It puts me in a real bad spot, because you can’t really tell who is going to be a good NFL player and who is not. It’s always a crap shoot. All I do know is what we have at every position isn’t good enough we were a 6-10 team last year and with this year’s schedule I don’t think we can even get to that.
Grier continued:
The good thing about the NFL is when I get fired in 2 years I know I will have a job somewhere else. We all just recycle through the league year after year.
LOL, I’m only doing this for a living because my Daddy does it and he told me to do this. If I had my choice, I’d rather play with salamanders and frogs for a living.
As someone said on NFL radio this morning – you can’t believe any GM this time of year.
Grier did say he plans on taking a K very early in the draft though, maybe even RD 1. lol
no he didn’t…but the guy has visited the fins twice for private workouts and the fins attended his pro day at fsu. It’s all about putting fannies in the seats and fans have been going early in the gates to watch him pre game.More sales inside… Dan Marino and Jason Taylor attended a pre-game to watch him in HS.
Just kidding around bud
“Tannenbaum: We’re coming off a 6-10 season. We’re not one player away”
I know how you can’t see the truth through all the smoke these days, but man did I like reading that.
The bigger question is are we 1 draft away? I think every one knows where I stand on that
we are close. We have been a 500 club the last 3-4 yrs if not for a few plays. Seahawks and panthers were like us hovering around 500 for several yrs.
1 draft can really change a team
But it worst best when the draft is geared to address one issue
Here’s an example
In 2012 the Panthers had a horrible run defense
They used the 2012 1st rounder on Keuchly, who eventually blossom and help the run defense but in 2013, they selected Star Lotulelei int he 1st and Kawann Short in the 2nd round. Now those are their two starting DTs.
Carolina went from 14 rush defense in 2012 to #2 in 2013
In their super bowl run last year they finished the season #4 in rush defense
Its been an unheralded part of their postseason success
Goats must have a big grudge with humans. They’re like “what’s with the all slitting of our throats for all kinds of reasons you sick fucks!?”
It would be funny if Grier said at his press conference
“Holy shit this team has some fucking holes!, the offensive line, the cornerbacks….how did it get like this…oh, I’m fucked!”

Unfortunately, the Dolphins don’t play in those divisions (easier).
Now the AFC West is tough (at least with defense) but they weren’t always; Seattle made the playoffs in Pete Carroll’s first year with a fucking 7-9 team.
by easier i meant Seattle & Panthers would be challenged more in the AFC East.
The NFC West did become the best division for a couple of years.
i thought seattle played in nfc western division
LOL, yes. Of course NFC West. I had a moment where i remembered them in the AFC West
Grier should just say quotes from Varsity Blues.
“Ezekiel Elliott, he’s a 10! 10! A fucking 10!”

interesting to see Calhoune so high
Sort of more of a speed guy than anything else
Where is Dodd?
If I didn’t find it so difficult to spell his name I would have mentioned Ngakoue a lot more than I have over the last few months
MF13 is high on Calhoun and has mocked him multiple times in RD 2 as a Fins option.
I haven’t really looked at him in detail but MSU’s D has been very good in recent times.
Dodd had late production in the season; maybe it wasn’t enough to overcome a slow start?
Calhoun reminds me of Wake and I love his helmet….lol
I have a feeling Nassib is going to be wearing a PATS uni 😦
Nice to see Ian Seau’s name up there. I noticed his ability watching his highlights (eye ball test) and the data backing it up is nice.
Also interesting to see Striker up there; that’s a guy GDP noticed a bit ago as a Fins option on the outside. This guy can fly.
Just remember it’s PFF’s rankings so pfffffff…
William Jackson III, Houston
Around the NFL, Jackson is a love/hate prospect. Teams expect him to go in the late first or early second round, but there are teams that don’t like him at all. One general manager of a playoff team that has been very good at scouting and developing cornerbacks said they had a fifth-round grade on Jackson prior to the combine. Another team picking high that is in the market for cornerback help said they have Jackson as a late second-rounder. Still, after his ball-skills production and great combine workout, Jackson has a great shot of going in the first round.
As a player, I see some flaws that could lead to Jackson being a bust. For starters, he is an undisciplined corner. He is a gambler who goes for interceptions, so double moves and a lack of eye discipline could lead to him getting burnt in the NFL. Jackson also is a little stiff, which makes his off-man coverage shaky as well. I think of the corners who could go in the first round, Jackson has the most bust potential.

Thanks Al. I also notice my crush Ogbah up there with a hundred more snaps than Bosa.
I wouldn’t get mad if Ogbah was our pick @ #13. He could have a 10yr career easily. He’s 22yo & still learning the position. Has no quit in him it seems. Them nigerian boys usually are tenacious on defense.
They grow up fighting lions. LOL
Isn’t striker the guy that weighs 98 lbs.?
And he fits in a shoe.
Here’s a recent photo of Striker from the combine
There are rumors that Striker has a drinking problem
“The Miami Dolphins allowed exactly 4,000 net yards passing last year, the highest total in their 50 seasons and a big reason they lost 10 games.
Against the run they ranked even worse, 28th in the NFL compared with 21st against the pass. So it’s reasonable to assume the Dolphins will devote their first-round draft pick to defense.”

That’s the start of an AP story on the draft. Gotta be realistic.
Hoping for one of my favorite players to be high up our draft board.
His name is Trad E. Down

I would take Dixon, Collins or Booker over Prossie or Drake in the 3rd
We have to see if they last to the third but I do think at least 1 of them will
I like Dixon, but see him as a 2nd, I like Collins if he didn’t fumble so much, but I’m starting to think he’s too much of an Ajayi type (not that its a bad thing).
Booker I definitely don’t want, he’s still rehabbing a torn meniscus…so I’ll pass.

I like your first 3 picks but my overall grade is MEH.
I like the first 3 picks too then it fell off a cliff
so I agree
Why all the love for Yannick Ngakoue? Especially after drafting Dodd & the ,any DL guys we brought in via FA? That’s a wasted 4th round pick…IMHO.
because he’s a Linebacker and not a DL maybe????
Rock, he’s a hand in the dirt edge rusher, not what we need as an OLB in today’s passing game.
I don’t want the Dolphins to pick Hargreaves III because his name wont fit on his jersey…….
GDP, I don’t watch ANY college ball so I only learn about these guys before the draft and I’ve only seen him listed as an OLB, so I guess the NFL project him as a stand up guy? IDK
Grier looks just like a guy I see at Starbucks every day. It could be his twin they look so much alike. I know it can’t be him because that man is at work hours before i get going in the morning.
Does anyone at the SS or MH WRITE anything anymore? Every time I click a link to a “story” it is some video I can’t watch at work!
GDP you are right about Yannick
I was just looking for a LB when I drafted him
the pickings were slim
I actually don’t like my draft after round 3
but rounds 1-3 were excellent
Thanks, he’ll probably be best suited for a 3-4 OLB, but Maryland used him mostly with his hand in the dirt coming off the edge.
The guy I really like from Maryland is Sean Davis the S/CB. Kid has speed & pop!
This is from PFF’s Miami Dolphins Draft board. Can anyone tell me wtf it means?
“While Elliott is very unlikely to unavailable at this point,”
he is unlikely to unavailable? WTF? He is unlikely to be available? He likely will not be available?
with the double negative they wrote he IS likely to be available?
Means about 3, maybe even 4 teams ahead of us also like him a lot.
Chris Jones, DI, Mississippi State
The Dolphins were highly vulnerable in run defense last season and much of that can be attributed to the poor play of Earl Mitchell. Jones would provide the team with a highly-successful, run-stuffing option to pair alongside Ndamukong Suh. Areas of his game are unrefined, but he instantly improves this defense.
What position is a DI?
Capital D & lower case l. He’s still a DL/DT. 😉
William Jackson III, CB, Houston
Cornerback is another area Miami will most definitely need to address. Should Vernon Hargreaves III be available, he would also be in play. While Jackson will need time to adjust to the Dolphins’ zone coverage scheme, he could be the most complete cornerback in the draft.
Will Miami be playing a zone coverage scheme this year? I thought they were going with more of a press man scheme this year? Or is that just wind being blown by guys on here?
Think Artie Burns and we shouldn’t have to worry about it. 🙂
after reading the article I don’t like PFF’s “Bid board” for us AT ALL!
https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/04/22/draft-pff-draft-board-miami-dolphins/
GDP, if you are unlikely to be unavailable it means you are likely to be available.
Sounds like a Norm Crosby or Yogi Berra quip.
Btw, I guess when they put DI, it’s supposed to stand for Defensive Interior instead of Defensive End….very stupid, when everyone says DT or DE for centuries….lol

Chris Jones is someone i have brought up fromt ime to time through this draft process. He is a great player, very dominant, Suh like to be honest, and he can play most techniques on the DL and line up as DE, but he has some off field issues. He’s there for day 1 of the draft, so again, someone thinks they might be taking him day 1.

Ha, like right on cue. I was talking up my desire to draft Burns in the 2nd.
Miami CB Artie Burns visited the Bucs in one of the team’s 30 official pre-draft slots.
Tampa Bay finds itself in an interesting spot. It needs big help at both cornerback and safety but probably won’t find a value fit at either position in the No. 9 slot unless the organization is high on Florida’s Vernon Hargreaves. If they bypass a defensive back at 9 (to take an OT, for instance), a prospect like Burns may hold interest in Round 2 (39).
Ahhhh Defensive Interior I was wracking my tiny little brain on what the I could have stood for! LOL. I thought it was just another typo in an article riddled with them.
Thanks!
That’s not a good change purse, wouldn’t everything fall out all over the place?
And i never used a change purse nearly as much as i would that…. i mean who wants to have to buy a new change purse weekly.

Timmy Two Times is Tim’s Mob name, Tim’s Mob name.

Makes me think of that kid on “The Middle” that whispers the last thing he says in sentence to himself, *whispering* himself.

D, I highly recommend that you just rent your change purses. Buying them is really expensive when it’s time to turn them in. Cost me a house, a car and 30 grand last year.

GDP, I don’t watch ANY college ball so I only learn about these guys before the draft and I’ve only seen him listed as an OLB, so I guess the NFL project him as a stand up guy? IDK
——–
Most of the time he’s rushing in but he looks way more mobile as a OLB than some of the tweeners I’ve seen or even a guy like Leonard Floyd.
I think many have him as a 3-4 jack LB but others might see him as a rotational DE that may develop some size to be a full time DE. He’s the same height as OV and about 8 lbs lighter (draft day variables comparison).
I think for what Miami wants to run (Wide 9) he’d be a nice addition.
So this is what the website told me:
Yo, your old name was Al in MIA. Well, fugeddaboutit, ’cause now we’re callin’ ya:
Anemic Guiseppe Milano
So I tried my real first name and this is what I got LOL:
