What a draft, what an off season! The Dolphins finally flipped the script and used the Free Agency period to fill glaring holes rather than try to make a splash. They drafted players to fit a system being installed rather than drafting good talent but not necessarily a scheme fit as we saw so many times in the past. Actually this is the third straight very good draft which is unusual for the Dolphins. Coach Gase is a modern day offensive minded coach which means he is going to pass the ball, likely, more than he’ll run it. In comes the best offensive lineman in the draft followed by a bunch of potential play makers who will fit in nicely with the play makers already on the team. The aggressive Defense to be installed needs a strong and aggressive defensive line to get to opposing quarterbacks quickly so that cover corners aren’t left to cover one on one for five seconds. In comes an aggressive sacker in Mario Williams and veteran Andre Branch. Then of course the addition of bigger corners such as Maxwell who came via trade and the young Xavien Howard from the draft. However an argument can be made for almost every player picked up as to where they will play.
Let’s start with the Defense. The significant players added were :
Mario Williams
– DE – Williams has flexibility across the D-line particularly at both DE positions. So will he play RDE or LDE, will he start on the left and move to the right to bring Wake in to rush the passer, perhaps he plays mainly on the right and doesn’t switch around much at all.
Andre Branch – DE – Same situation with Branch as with Mario, is Branch an early down run-stopper who gives way to Wake and Williams on passing downs?
Byron Maxell – CB – Expected to be the number one Corner but Byron is a player with flexibility as well, should one of the other CB’s stand out maybe Maxwell gets moved around situationally.
Kiko Alonso – LB – Middle Linebacker right? Probably and most likely but there is the chance he plays outside although less likely now than before the draft when EVERYONE thought we’d draft a Linebacker maybe even a MLB.
Isa Abdul-Quddus – S – OK he’s a Safety, but is he a starter or a role player and ST ace?
Xavien Howard – CB – Will the rookie show enough to ea
rn the spot opposite Maxwell? If not what sort of role will he play? Back-up, Nickel, let’s hope the rookie takes care of business.
Chris Jones – DT – A productive run stopper who comes to a crowded position. Suh will play the majority of snaps so Jones will battle for time with the veteran Earl Mitchell and last year’s second round pick, Jordan Phillips among a host of others. Can Jones take some snaps at DE potentially?
Jordan Lucas – DB – Listed as simply DB on the teams official roster they don’t even know if he’s a Safety or a CB. Best of luck to this rookie we can only hope that he is a player that will make his presence known.
The significant players added to the offense:
Brandon Doughty – QB – LOL, jbb
Laremy Tunsil – T – The best Olineman in the draft (we can say that because we drafted him) but will he start his career as a Guard or move a vet off of one of the Tackle spots?
Kenyan Drake – RB – Is this guy an every down back? Likely not going to be asked to be but does he become a third down back or does he split carries with Ajayi? Will he be a kick returner and supplant Jarvis Landry from that role?
Leonte Carroo -WR – What the heck is this guy going to do? Does he go in the slot and allow Jarvis to work more on the outside? Does he push for time as a starter and play on the edge. This is a good looking rookie and with Jarvis here it will be hard for him to have the similar impact Jarvis had but there should be ample opportunity for this rookie to turn some heads.
Jakeem Grant – WR – Good things come in small packages, possibly the most exciting new player to the team. Already naming rights wars have begun. Speed, elusiveness, quickness, incredible po
wer and a spirited drive that may prove to be a huge force in this team clearing the hurdle of nobody to contender. We see 5’6 and 170 pounds, Jakeem sees himself as one of the biggest strongest guys on the field. You gonna tell him he isn’t? I didn’t think so. But what will he do? Slot, Hback, returner, deep threat. Who cares just get in the endzone grANTman ©.
Griff Whalen – WR – Up until the draft this FA pick up looked like a 4th or 5th receiver who came to the team with experience and knowledge of OC Christenson’s offense but he may have been out talented as the draft results came in. It will be a tough battle for a spot as a 6th now.
Jermon Bushrod – T – FA acquisition who has only played as a Tackle but this vet may be able to win a starting position as a Guard. Or is he here as insurance only for the T position?
Sam Young – T – Same as Bushrod, but Young would appear to be the one who is in fact a mere T backup. He does however add needed depth and keeps Fox and Columbo out of football.
Thomas Duarte – TE – Now I think everyone has to temper expectations with this kid due to size and the uphill battle any 7th rounder faces as he enters the league but did you see his highlight clips? Dude can run and catch the ball and he makes people miss. He shows a lot of promise thus far.
The Defensive additions are made up of mostly veterans with Williams as the biggest name acquisition but even he came from a team that had just cut him so we didn’t splurge hugely for even him even though he pocketed a handsome sum. The thinking for the defense was to add vet’s who could come in and lock down positions and make the D functional and hopefully better than last season.
The Offense got an infusion of spices from a variety of angles but mostly with drafted playmakers. The offensive line might not be so offensive anymore with the additions made with Tunsil, Bushrod and Young to go along with Turner and Douglas who show promise. Drake and Ajayi make for a very young but talented 1-2 punch in the back
field while Carroo and Grant add to the arsenal that already includes Jarvis Landry and the emerging Devante Parker.
The scouting is done, the picks are in now everything gets handed to a shiny new rookie Head Coach. Coach and his staff will have to make the tough decisions about who plays where and stays or goes. All we can say as long suffering Dolphin fans is that we hope the plan works, fits the players and that the players play their ass off in it. Due to results of the last many seasons production of koolaid has been halted until there is a bonafide reason to do so. Not that you can’t have your own private still but sanctioned koolaid production has been halted for the benefit of all involved.
Congratulations to Jarvis Landry for being recognized by his peers as one of the top 100 players in the league. Welcome to the top kid and it seems like you’ll continue to climb every year.
Enjoy!
Let’s have a large turnout for the annual Fest, vote up above – see you there!

maybe we can pick up some disguarded veterans who’s 5th year option wasn’t picked up. I would look hard at some CB’s and OL and a RB who can run between the tackles who will be able to take a pounding. These guys are not going to cost as much as 1st FA period.
We also have final player cut downs before regular season begins which can bring a savy veteran
5th yr option guys are for next year, they’ve only played 3 seasons.
We can’t make these things up. Donald Trump picked up a crucial endorsement of Willie Robertson. For those who don’t know he is CEO of “Duck Dynasty”.
Nice job Son. Two thoughts before I run out to work: I really think that we’d be a better OL if Albert lines up at G and Tunsil lines up at LT, And I think Howard is best sutied to line up on the outside. We have Thomas and probably Lucas to man the slot.
Nice article Son!
Leonte Carroo -WR – What the heck is this guy going to do?
I’ll tell you! He’s gonna ball, and he’s going to play mean, and fight for the ball when it’s in the air, and make other currently employed WR’s on our team take notice, and watch in awe. Not all that different from our own Jarvis Landry. Some guys really want the ball, others are willing to share with the defense. We know who the latter are.
OK Mr.Simpson let’s see if he first get out of training camp and see if he can move up the depth chart. He’s a rookie even the best wr 1st rounders take a yr or 2 to dominate.
What a situation to come into for both him and Grant. Landry and Parker will be the focus of the D allowing these to “Alpha’s” to creep in and make plays. I love the dynamic they add and I expect good things even if they are rookies.
They have set it up that the offense has plenty of options. That’s a great plan as far as I’m concerned. Put out a whole bunch of guys who can damage, you can’t focus on just one, like they were able to focus on Landry, knowing nearly every pass was coming his way. Until Parker finally got healthy, and that opened up a new option.
Actually, Rishard was a big target early on as well. Stills was targeted as well, he just wasn’t interested.

Does he mean OJ? What does OJ have to do with this? I’m really not sure what jetssucks means
My avatar can help….. 🙂
I got no clue
On WFAN this morning, they were talking about how the NY Giants cockblocked the Jets by not trading the #10 pick to them so the Jets could take Laremy Tunsil. Yet another reason why I like the Giants!
Way to go Giants, but can you actually cockblock the stej wouldn’t it be vagblocking?
Good point. Supposedly the Jets were pretty angry about it. I love it!
I thought that was a term for the Patriots.
jetssucks
Care to explain the Mr. Simpson reference?

Yes he did!
Still not sold on our Draft when this Defense need more help at the LB & CB spots
I’m fine knowing they picked up Burggess at LB. I also think Jordan Lucas is being sold a little short also. Time will tell though.
Excellent write up SOS……I have a long way to go as a writer.
Note to self: Step up my game!!!!
Thanks Markey, and now I must run
Do 4 lines of Coke and a few hits of speed and see where that takes you. I’d say you probably end up in a jungle trying to stab a jaguar with a soft shelled turtle….but maybe, just maybe you might type something👍
I’m a pepsi guy myself.
Markey
It’s kind of funny, because it seems to happen here in MIA no matter who’s in charge. This was a very talented defensive draft, especially deep at DE, and so we go almost all offense.
That is what puzzled me…the 4thand 5th round picks could have addressed a LB, DE
Markey
I assure you, you’re not alone. We’ll all put on a happy face because we have to fall in line, but most of us were surprised we went so heavily on offense, and besides CB, ignored the defense.
Mr. Simpson, I actually wasn’t that surprised our draft ended up with more offense because of how we addressed defense in FA and through the trade. However I did think we would draft a DE or LB at some point but we did not.
You’re one of the very few, if not the only one on this board.
I said that leading up to the draft that DE may not be a priority anymore and since we added Alonso that maybe LB wasn’t either because they like the young guys but nobody listened. 🙂
“Do 4 lines of Coke and a few hits of speed and see where that takes you. I’d say you probably end up in a jungle trying to stab a jaguar with a soft shelled turtle….but maybe, just maybe you might type something👍”
LMAO!!!! Reminds me of the time when I was in my early 20s when I had way too much to drink and I was trying to unlock my car door with a pack a matches.
You were that drunk and remembered it ?
I get completely blasted all the time and remember what I did…if I’m drinking beer. If I go heavy w/ liquor that’s when my blackout moments occur.
Yep, because it kind of woke me up like WTF? LOL
I never did that, but one time in college I had been playing pong at a friends from 4p-2a I walked back to my apartment in a rainstorm and we had a double bulbed pendant light in the kitchen that had a turn dial to flip it on….well unknown to me at the time my future wife pulled out a burned out light bulb from it and never replaced it. When I went to turn it on, in my drunken state, I had managed to put my rain soaked thumb in the socket and I got knocked on my ass and had what appeared to be night vision for a while. No lights were on, but I could see everything in like that green night vision😂
That’s scary. You became this guy.

LOL @ Dbolt on I never did that. So you never tried to unlock a car door with a pack of matches? LOL
Great write Son. And I had forgotten about Branch, but man are our DE’s old, Wake, Williams and Branch……hate to say it but setting the future up aside, that’s like injuries waiting to happen.
Wake at 34 is getting up there. Williams is 31 which isn’t that old and Branch is 26. The rest of our DEs are all under 25.
Didn’t realize Branch was that young….good news on that one. Maybe the downturn on Williams came for other reasons, but doesn’t seem like he has at least much starter shelf life in him. And he and Wake are our starters.
Nice job son. I forgot chris jones was on the roster. Our d line is gonna be decent specially if Dion FF comes back and contributes.
Dion says he wants to play LB though……wonder what Misi thought about that.
Dion doesn’t have any say in it after what he’s done.
Oh and nice write Son!
Yes Son very good write up. I jumped into the comments and forgot to give you props.
I remember a mesc trip my friends and I walked outside, it was about 15 degrees, and we walked all the way from the border of Coney Island to Sheepshead Bay, and back. We got to my friends apartment, and it felt like it was a sauna. I go to the bathroom, and they have one of the stack shelve units so the light switch is right in the middle of the thing, and I flick the switch, and a Gillette deodorant spray tumbles off the shelf, in what looked like to me a Greg Louganis triple twist, and I catch that mofo (Like Carroooooo), and run back to the living room to tell everyone what happened, and there, on the 18th floor, right in his big picture window, is a “people on mesc seeking sparrow”, just hovering at the 18th floor. I remember that sh*t like it was yesterday! lol
BTW – If you’re wondering, we ALL saw it, so it was real!
LOL @ the people on mesc seeking sparrow
Was it night time?
Yeah, it was late evening/early morning
“we walked all the way from the border of Coney Island to Sheepshead Bay, and back.”
LOL — when you saw the Wonder Wheel did you figure you were home? Was there a guy clinking three bottles when you got there asking you to come out and play? 🙂
LOL – The “other” border of CI, the one closer to Brighton Beach. Probably a mile and a half from the wonder wheel though. That’s where I lived, that close.
Mile and a half is close enough…..somehow you seem a little tougher to me right now.
Stanger, Rex Ryan’s genius defensive scheme took a Bills defense that lead the league in sacks two years in a row with 50+ to 21 by having Mario and Hughes dropping in coverage half the time as OLBs. Yeah let’s take a 6-6 290 DE who had 14.5 sacks in 2014 and play him at OLB in a 3-4 and have him drop in coverage a lot. LOL
Didn’t know those details, but certainly gives us hope that the old Mario is still there. If we ask him to cover a zone it will only be a surprise change-up thing.
Yeah instead of dropping in coverage 10+ times per game he might do that 10 times all season. LOL
When we signed Mario, Lavar Arrington broke it down and said now that Mario is back in that wide 9 DE stance expect to see the Mario Williams we all know.
How bout that?!?!
https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/05/06/pro-these-8-teams-improved-the-most-in-their-division-this-offseason/
Except Maxwell and Alonso weren’t FA moves, it was a trade involving draft compensation. Pffffffffffttttt…. strikes again.
Maxwell’s contract says a little different on that. Could have been used for a FA.
It doesn’t count as a FA signing and doesn’t factor in the comp pick formula.
And the comp part is an advantage to it……could have signed a FA for the same money though. Not saying a bad move, but when some say we got Maxwell in the draft $8.5 mil to him should come in.
Mike E, if the sparrow was buzzing around at night it would have made it really strange, but early morning makes sense.
Anyone think the shift in baseball is getting ridiculous?
Bunch of freaks here I tell ya!
Son, nice write up….& for those saying we should’ve taken a DE or LB in the 4th or 5th rounds….well we know what happened with the trade ups, but also I felt that a quality DE or LB wouldn’t be there at that point, not anyone that would’ve came in here and supplant the young guys here already developing.
Again, I too, wanted a stud DE & OLB early on, but if we committed to one side of the ball so to speak, then that’s ok.
Why, because if our offense, which is our new HC Gase’s strength, can start scoring enough points, controlling enough clock, and keeping us on the opponent’s side of the field more often….Then that goes a log way to helping a defense too. It’s a defense’s BEST friend!
Yep, I agree. Gase doesn’t want to start his tenure as a first time HC struggling on offense which is his specialty. Scoring more points, controlling the clock and keeping the defense fresh and opportunistic seems to be the game plan. When you score often you put pressure on the opponent and that’s when you can get more turnover opportunities.
Yeppers, seems they had an offseason plan and so far they’ve stuck to it pretty well.
Stay tuned, more to come.
Rookies!
Who needs any Rookies!!!!!!!
Hey, I was drunk at that game….lol

Yea, progress is here. Thanks Gase/Grier/Tbomb:
While the Patriots are still the elite team in the AFC East, the Dolphins gained more ground on the Patriots than the Jets or Bills did during free agency and the draft.
I woke up on the neighbors lawn after on night of pounding Rainier pounders in the rain with my cowboy hat over my face!
I was dreaming that wolves were trying to eat me and I woke up with my best friend jerking on my leg!
Did you know he was gay?
The long leg not the short one! 😉
You certain that’s all he was jerking on? How much had he consumed too?
He had been entertaining a girl so not near as much as me!
LOL, you want to rephrase that before too many comments roll in?
Too late! LOL
I’ve been called way worse than gay!
Thick skin helps on a construction site!
Speakin of which…can someone ask Piggy what the hell is going on @ the U in Coral Gables???
WTF? LOL
Tim
The PFF article says added through trade and FA. It’s the first line actually. Imagine that, I’m defending Pffffffft. lol
Free agency grade: C-
Key additions: CB Byron Maxwell, DE Mario Williams, LB Kiko Alonso, OT Jermon Bushrod, S Isa Abdul-Quddus, DE Andre Branch
Key losses: DE Olivier Vernon, CB Brent Grimes, RB Lamar Miller, DE Derrick Shelby, CB Brice McCain, WR Rishard Matthews, DE Quinton Coples
Yeah the C- garde threw me off when at the end of the article it said the Phins did more to gain on NE surpassing that of both the Jests & Jills.
Wyo, not that anyone called you gay, just the way you wrote that it was a hanging slider. LOL
Tim likes things that are hanging…..cue his dancing boys….LOL
You want to see them don’t you? LOL
Mike, sorry about the comments from yesterday, I was out of line.
Good stuff steve…kudos, whether you were right or wrong.
Steve
Thanks man, sorry as well if I’ve gone over the line myself
Tim
I think they just lumped all the additions together as a C-, but it could look like they didn’t. The fact that they mentioned the trade leads me to believe they had them separated, but just lumped them together as off season key additions.
Right, the C- was FA & our draft got an A-….Now time to go out and Stomp the Pasties!
Cool stuff with Steve and Mike.
Dolphins signed first-round OT Laremy Tunsil to a four-year contract.
It comes with an embedded fifth-year team option. Tunsil’s contract will likely be fully guaranteed and should include roughly a $7 million signing bonus. Tunsil’s draft-day slide costed him about $7 million due to his social media accounts being hacked minutes before Round One started.
Time to get to work young man.
Yeah, he’s still got plenty of money now.
Eli Apple is on the radio right now. Sounds like a good kid, polite, smart and articulate.
Since we are all admitting to things.
Ill tell you one story for now from my past, but as i have never blacked out…i get to have memories of all the shit i did either completely trashed drunk, tripping, etc.
For this particular story, we all were at an after party, mostly people drinking some were doing shrooms, some X, acid, etc. I had decided to do acid that night. For the most part all i got to start with was a really nice body buzz, but i decided to walk outside and find my friend. When i found him he was outside near the trashcans which were just a little ways away from the porch. We were talking and i was leaning back against the trash cans listening to him when i started hearing and seeing the trash can next to the one i was leaned on start talking. It wasnt really words per say, more like just inane babble, lid bobbing up and down as it just went on and one. I must have kept glancing at the trashcan because my friend was noticing i was cutting glances at it and asked me what i was looking at lol.
Wasnt my first rodeo with acid so i kinda just blew it off, but in order to stop it from blabbing on and on, i put my hand on the lid and push down on it. Funniest part is my mind turned that babble into a muffled mumble that continued to irritate me so much i just cut my friends conversation off in the middle and told him i had to go inside. I guess subconsciously i really was not entertained by his conversation to invent something so damn vivid just to make me walk back inside.
Thats easily the most comical thing that has ever happened to me in an altered state, that didnt also come with at least a good helping of embarrassment.
Team bonding!
…helmet to helmet or low blows?
LOL @ D on tripping. I have so many of those.
Steve & Mike 💋 & made up will Wyoming’s buddy was jerking on their legs!

Good one…no wonder why Brady always has that sly grin.
Kudos to Mike E & Steve. I hate to see 2 good people arguing. Glad to see you guys move past that
Seems they traded up for a truce, but not sure after sacrificing that trade how Mike & Steve will fare in 2017, they won’t have as much to pick on each other then.
You forget they will be getting compensatory items to pick on each other about, so probably still plenty of ammunition.

Guards take #67. I actually don’t like that he took #67 either.
Griff Whalen has to change numbers too, he also previously was 17.
You are assuming Tannehill won’t be cut in training camp….
😀
For some reason the QB’s number reminds me of ordering a half a dozen doughnuts
Caroo’s number was 4 in college right? Pretty sure he can talk Matt Darr out of it if he really wants to. Sometimes numbers change after the cut downs too.
WRs have to have double digit numbers.
I don’t think a WR can wear #4, I think it has to be double digits.
21 was Davis’ number?
Taylor too.
Oh wait Taylor was #22.
Jakeem Grant is going to look like Brandon Marshall hit with a shrink ray.
I would have stuck with 78, that was Richmond Webb’s number and he is one of if not my favorite Dolphins LT of all time.

Sorry so late saying this but nice article Son, i usually come in after the comments are flying around and get too quick to jump into the opinion war before thanking the people that write the articles. Again, thank you.
In college you can have an offensive and defensive player with same number, i thought was same for the NFL, they just cant be on the field at the same time.
Looked it up and i guess not. Bummer.
No not in the NFL and I didn’t know that about college but I guess they have to because there are so many on the roster.
DT Chris Jones #52???? That’s wrong . . . .
#s have been changing recently. We’re probably too traditionalist.
I think the number rules are kinda BS, i like college’s system better
I’ve not been around much lately either. Just going by what I’ve read when I have clicked on this site from time to time you guys fight and make up more than a bunch of teenage girls.

Not to just stoke a mad flame of vile feelings, but while i was checking twitter the other day Miko was just going off, fucking vile stupid shit sayign she dont care about fans wearing her man’s jersey, she dotn care if there aint one in the stands, fans dont write checks so she doesnt care what they think, and if fans want to start writing checks to them she might care then, etc etc. Im just blown away, she kept saying none of that money comes to him or her so she dont give a shit about those sales, that only goes to the owner so she doest care about any of that or the ticket sales. I was thinking to myself how fucking stupid do you have to be, earth to Miko, owners write the checks…. so i think money in there pockets does equate to money in yours, and if more fans are wearing Grimes jersey’s then its likely to reflect on him as a player and possibly earn him more. She is such a vile piece of trash.
Thats not even the best part of it though, she then gets off on a rant about the phins and the bucs and which is the better franchise. You of course know she is going to runt he dolphins down, no surprise there, but then Omar jumps in to lick her ass some and say he agreed that the Bucs are a better franchise, pointing out better recent success. Miami reporters are all a bunch of hacks, not one once of decency or loyalty to this team, but he has a special place at the bottom of that list IMO.
She’s got some kinda of mental illness, best I can come up with. Omar sure does like her though….maybe they share the same one.
You’re probably right.
She’s trashy and stupid.
Wyoming,
I think they’re gonna wait and see how these rookies do before going after any FA. Out of that group I would target hall and slausen
Really like Gase’s pressers, he has a realy direct manner, very no shit and you can tell he is a im giving as little to these fucking reporters as possible mentality. I really like it because our reporters as i mentioned above, are douche nozzles.
I liked all the rookies pressers. I like their attitudes. Like the “you ain’t better than me attitude”.
I think her illness is entitlement.
Lots of people have it these days. Her opinions are the only ones that count and fuck everyone that denies her it or doesn’t stroke her ego by agreeing with it. Omar DEFINITELY has the same one in that regards. Respect is earned, respect is lost when by being disrespectful, case closed. Want to be treated like a professional, act like one.
meant to say respect is earned by acting respectful, respect is lost by being disrespectful.
The one that got me was when she got kicked out of a game in Buffalo for fighting she said something like “no big deal….been kicked out of games four times before….so not my first rodeo.”
You ever heard about any player’s wife other than her ever kicked out of a stadium?
Hall would be a nice insurance policy same with Slausen, we COULD get by without either but it would be much more comforting knowing we had some established vets ready to go if others are not. I agree Boulder, we probably wait a little while longer and i agree with us doing that. No need to rush things until we know whats going to be available, unless of course we are really sold on either of those guys. Obviously our coaching staff comes from both those teams so they know those players.
D
maybe one day when this country stops paying attention to the people that only say and do shit to get attention people like her will go away. why anyone would read anything her or omar or people like the kartrashians post is beyond me. just stop repeating what those people say and they go away
I happened upon it really, mostly just saw her saying things about fans and was kinda shocked she was already ranting already about the bucs fans. I dont really give her any extra air time, if i say anything its here and its few and far between.
Drakes presser was really good as well.
Lol, GrANTman….. “You cant hit what you cant catch”
Doughty….excellent presser.
They Kentucky accent attached itself to him though lol… Us southerners can distinguish between the different dialects and he slips into some pretty deep Kentucky from time to time.
Carrooooooo is built like a RB.
Pretty articulate guy too. Polished. He, Doughty and drake seemed most comfortable in their pressers. Definitely air of confidence in all of the rookies, Grant seemed like he was about to come out of his skin lol, HIGH energy levels in him. Talked faster and faster as he got more and more excited. I get like that sometimes, when im talking about something im passionate about.
Grant has always been the underdog, so he’s had to overachieve his whole life, I’d imagine it’s what keeps him going (people telling him he can’t).
Grant is an upbeat dude for sure. I really look forward to watching him.
I love Grant looking up to Zach both being from Texas Tech and undersized at their positions.
Grant’s new nickname, the Virgin, since no one can catch him, no one has touched him 😉
He talked about going up against a 6’3″ CB in the NFL…I’m sure the CB is more afraid of him than he is of the CB. I absolutely hated covering those guys in basketball, imagine what it would be like to try to cover him on a 100 yrd field. FYI, I’m 6’3″.
I’m 5-9 and that’s what I did to bigger guys when I played both organized and street ball. I didn’t have Grant’s ability or speed, but I had it at my level. I used quickness, speed, illusion and the smaller guy syndrome to prove I could beat them somehow some way. That was a long time ago. LOL
I really don’t know how teams are going to cover Landry, Parker, Stills, Carroo, Grant, Cameron, and Drake. Mismatch galore. Pressure is the only way.
Doughty is a regular Florida Redneck, Yeehaaaaaaaaw! His career seems to be starting like Brady’s did, forgotten man in the draft, but they both have the confidence. I think he’s more fit for our O than RT is. Someone better play their ass off this yr or the chants will start coming.
If nothing else we should be pretty good in preseason with Doughty throwing to Caroo, Grant, Duarte, and Drake.
How do you know he’s a better scheme fit than RT when we don’t really know what it is yet? 😉
Ryan is an elite athlete at the QB position and has all the tools so it’s not like he has to overcome anything. His improvement needs to come from being more aggressive and sharp on a consistent basis.
What he did in college seems to be what he’ll be doing with us.
Very different level now. Guys who get drafted always did something good in college. He looks a little slight at this time.
You were talking about scheme fit, what does the level have to do with fitting the scheme?
We’ve been given tidbits of what the offense is going to be, fast, quick tempo passes, with the occasional deep ball, that likes to use the TE, so lots of over the middle/seam stuff.
These pressers are really good, after Howard’s. Leonte and Duarte with the hands and Grant with the legs. Certain things that are said in them can’t be denied, Caroo why he prides himself on catching the ball, Grant on what drives him, these guys are in the mold of Landry.
Something is wrong with these guys we took, why does it seem like there’s no way that any of them, other than Howard, Luca and Drake should’ve lasted as long as they did. Are we getting the homerism, because they seem to be too good to be true.
Grant, that no one can catch, Caroo, a bigger, faster Landry, Duarte a 7th rd TE with speed and great hands, Doughty, what seems to be a perfect fit for this offense with great college numbers.
There’s more than just them like them out there and teams took other positions as well with similar players. No doubt you’re seeing the alpha male attribute that Grier talked about. Confident to always have something to prove because they always want to be looked at as good/great players for their own pride and help the team reach the highest goal.
