What a game last night! Bookman, sorry about the loss. Wisconsin is a classy team year after year.
It’s amazing to me how much my football teams (Penn St. is my college team) have mirrored each other over the past 10 years or so. Both last won their division in 2008, have endured scandal around the same time (college obviously being infinitely worse), have had talented QB’s with porous OL’s helping drag them down, and are now winning the same exact way. Penn St. and the Dolphins are both second half teams this year, coming out flat in the first half and completely turning it around in the second; that is a mark of good coaching. Let’s hope this continues today against the Ravens- if we wan to take the next step in our development as a team then this is a game we have to have. This will be a tough, physical game. If we don’t turn the ball over, force some turnovers of our own and get the running game going then we have a good chance to walk out of Baltimore with a victory.
So excited! Woke up, and put on my aqua shirt, READY FOR VICTORY!!!

Just an odd note I feel compelled to mention. In my FF league, I have the Dolphins Defense, who are projected to get 9 points, and my opponent has the Ravens Defense, who are projected to get 6 points. Hmmm
I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep. Too excited!

I don’t care who’s out. Penn State is definitely one of the top four teams in college football and deserves to be in there. Ohio State probably would be the logical choice since, like you said, Penn State defeated them and Penn State is also the Big Ten Champ and Ohio State didn’t even play in the game.
No argument here, but they aren’t getting in IMO. Just too many variables for that to happen.

YOUNG STANGER: LOVED that reference to “a one cent piece!” BTW, according to a Dolphins’ employee, the 2-year late apology from the Dolphins to my beloved Penny for the major security issue in the parking lot may finally be in the mail. IF YOU THINK I HATE ROSS, believe me, Miss Penny hates him much worse than I do, as does JOAN, the most knowledgeable Dolfan among “My Boyz”, who is NOT renewing her tickets next season after 35 straight years as a season ticket holder. Of the 10 members of “MY BOYZ,” I will be the only one who has renewed for next season. Having said that, I STILL believe season tix sales will be up a bit next season. However, unlike Robbie & Huizenga, Ross does NOT release exact numbers of season tix renewals.
Think an argument could be made for that one season where we had to win one of our last two games to get in and lost both, but it’s been a long while.
And whatever the reason, just sorry your whole crew won’t be there setting up on game day. Was pretty special to sit down with them……still hoping some of them change their minds when those renewal letters come though.
YS: It’s too late for any of “My Boyz” to change their minds. Those seats have already been taken from them for non-renewal. That’s Ross’s way of saying “Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!”
We need to come out strong from the beginning. None of this BS of the 2nd half or the last 5 minutes to get going.

I KNOW MANY OF YOU are, from time to time, not happy with ESPN. HERE’S more fodder for that point of view. In this morning’s “FANTASY FOOTBALL NFL FORECAST,” Miami’s Ryan Tannehill was NOT ranked in the top 20 starting QB’s for fantasy points this week (they only ranked the top 20, so I don’t know how low Tanny was ranked). BTW, number 20 on this fantasy “hit list” was none other than Blake Bortles of the Jags, yes the SAME BLAKE BORTLES who has the lowest QBR season rating in the entire NFL!! Now I DON’T play fantasy football (prefer REAL football) but anybody who thinks Bortles is a better QB than Tanny (even for 1 game) needs their fuckin’ head examined, CLOSELY!! An article about 2 months ago in the WSJ said that ESPN has lost millions of subscribers over the last 3 years. DUHHHH!!

But the NFL network is not very good either
Tanny is not a fantasy darling, but he isn’t in the top 20 this week cause the Raven’s D is that good and their O isn;t good enough that we might have to play catch up (when FF QB numbers can explode).

Ravens safety Eric Weddle caught something after doing his tape study that none of our beat reporters did.

OD, fwiw, I think the Dolphins are making a huge mistake with you and your BOYZ. You could be a marketing dream right there for selling tickets if you ask me. All you long time season ticket holders should be treated better for sure.
HERD, it has been a nightmare of epic proportions. One of MY BOYZ, (John, the chef) was told he’d have to purchase THREE season’s tix if he wanted to sit upstairs between the 40 and 50. This was after over 30 seasons with TWO season tix DOWNSTAIRS. His downstairs season tix were TAKEN FROM HIM in Ross’s “LAZYBOY SEATS” transformation. John reluctantly paid for a 3rd (unwanted) season ticket which HE COULD NOT RE-SELL because demand for single tix upstairs was extremely low during the 1-4 start. When they told him how much more his 3 tix for next season would be he told them “NO–you are NOT holding me hostage any more” and told us he would NEVER ATTEND ANOTHER FINS GAME AS LONG AS ROSS OWNED THE TEAM!–True to his word, he has not attended any games since the Tennessee home game.
I could tell you other stories about the other members of MY BOYZ but, I’m sure, no one wants to hear them. My Brother-in-Law, Jim,–his decision NOT to renew hit me the hardest b/c he is the older brother I never had, and the husband of my 81 year old sister. He only missed THREE HOME GAMES in Miami’s 51 years of existence. But he’s had enough of Ross and his policies. One of the killers for Jim was when the ticket office sold two season tix 2 seats over from him (which Jim was totally willing to pay for) to a FIRST YEAR SEASON TICKET HOLDER! Jim wanted those seats on the aisle so he could more easily get up and egress the area. His bad knees made the need for aisle seats an issue. Instead, those seats went to a “rookie” who a) only purchased 2 season tix and b) was totally healthy and really had no need to be on the aisle.

Some of MY BOYZ reasons for non-renewal are worse than Jim’s. But enough! If Ross wants to piss-off people who’ve supported the franchise for 3-4 or 5 decades, there’s really nothing we can do about it. But one thing’s for sure. Those of us still alive the day Ross sells the team are going to have a serious PARTY.

thanks for the kind words about my Clemson Tigers. It is difficult for a smallish school in a smallish state to go up against the perennial powerhouses from big states, with huge enrollments, huge budgets, and huge national name recognition.
But we have a lot of pride and a long tradition of trying hard to be great. William the Fridge Perry came from there way back in the day. Byron Maxwell who was born only a few miles from me and Andre Branch of course play for Miami now after going to Clemson.
Anyway, I have been enduring TWO nailbiters per weekend all year as Clemson has been snatching victory in heart-stopping ways just like Miami.

I am thinking Kenyan Drake has a big play for us on an outlet pass while we are trying to slow down the pass rush and also the very physical Caroo might turn in another 15 yd TD where he fights off tackles like a baby TE.
ya’ know… this makes sense. After last week’s game I made a comment about the fresh legs of our rookies like Drake and Caroo. It will be interesting to see how soon they get on the field.

Whatever show I watched it was split between Phins and Ravens, but actually Jim Rome broke the tie on CBS. The fans though overwhelmingly chose MIA, 78%. Doesn’t matter what ANYONE says, just win baby!

I see too many people acting like the Ravens are undefeated. We are the better team. If we lose it’s bc we have shot ourselves in the foot with stupidity. Joe Flacco can throw the deep ball but that’s about it. Hes not a quick hitting, good decision, precision QB. Both Wallace and Smith are headcases, our dbs and lbs need to get inside their heads and get them off their games. Stop the run, get in Flaccos face and he’ll start giving up turnovers. This is more than winnable. This game will be won in the second half, it’s always does for us against the Ravens, but we do dumb things and give the game away most of the time. The last 6 games look like we’re done with that and so we need to stay the course.
