It’s time for a Fitzgerald int. Talk about a guy who loves throwing the interception

What a great win. Shaky start, but we really took that game by the scruff of the neck and dominated it. Seeing Petty and the rest of the Heartbreakers caught between a rock and a hard place (also known as Earth QWake meets Suhnami) was joyous.
    Go Pats.
Still can’t believe Fins only have 6 more games left to play this season though 😉

  46. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The beginning of the game was major agita, but they came through, and scored in bunches. Before the game I felt if we really asserted ourselves, imposed our will, the Jets would fold, and they finally did, but it was hard to tell from the start which team was fighting for the playoffs.

I’m just thrilled we won this game, and Moore made some great throws. I have to admit though, I’m very concerned with our inability to run the ball. I’m really surprised that w/o Pouncey in there, we can’t create a seam for Ajayi. I think Drake also needs to start getting more touches.

  47. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

    WTF

  48. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

  56. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

We definitely need a true MLB. Kiko is a great complementary player, but he’s not the guy.

  57. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

MIKE E: OUR O-Line problems are the number one reason we are NOT among the favorites to win the AFC. THAT SAID, I AM VERY PROUD OF COACH GASE AND HIS PLAYERS. This opportunistic team is NOT doing it on smoke and mirrors. THEY HAVE TALENT AND GRIT!! – – But, right now, I don’t see how Gase can get our undertalented O-Line up to championship caliber.

I return you now to your collective hangovers!!

  58. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

On what OD said, I loved this quote from Matt Moore after the game. And not like the guy hasn’t seen many Dolphins and other squads. Thinking the FAs will be lining up to come to us.

““I haven’t been around a team like this. Guys understand that they are truly on a team.”

  59. Rockphin's avatar rockphin69 says:

The Dolphins have a +58 point differential in the 2nd half and OT but are like -20 overall. They absolutely have to start picking it up in the first quarter and half of games

  62. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Toba

We ran for over 100 yards the first time we played the Jets. We’ve been in a funk now trying to run. It’s great that other units are making things happen, it’s amazing actually, but I’ve felt what makes us a dangerous playoff type team is our ability to run the ball. If you can’t do it come playoff time, it’s hard to win.

  63. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Mike E:
I am not concerned about the run game when we could move the ball through the air like we have. They want to stack 8 in the box no problem.

  64. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Ok, update after yesterdays game…The Dolphins have a +58 point differential in the 2nd half and OT but are like +1 overall. They absolutely have to start picking it up in the first quarter and half of games. Being outscored by 57 points in the first half is turrible. Just turrible.

    From the demolition derby episode..

That show got really bad even before they jumped the shark.

  68. Ken's avatar Ken says:

The yardage in the run game is not as important as the number of carries. It’s the threat of the run game that opens up the passing game and we have a very credible threat in the run game now

  69. Phindog's avatar Phindog says:

Stanger.. I thought for sure Petty had broken ribs and shit his spleen on that play. I really did feel bad for him for a second .. just a second.

    WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    WE SWEPT THE JETS!!!!!!!

    WE SWEPT THE JETS!!!!!!!

Now let’s go and sweep the Bills!!

I watched the game with a buddy of mine last night and he was all tense and sighing and antsy and whiny all game waiting for the let down. I was just kicked back enjoying the game. I kept ribbing him that this team has really abused him this past 15 years. He was sitting there EXPECTING the turn. Waiting for the let down. Every time we scored I would look over and say “feeling any better now?”

“No, there are still 22 mins left in the game.” “No there are still 9 minutes left” “No, we’ve had 21 points scored on us in 6 minutes before”

This week was a huge turning point for me. I have said on here that ever game I get that “queasy” feeling that we will find some way to lose. Last night even when we looked like shit in the first quarter I had that calm feeling, like watching a game on DVR afterward when you already knew we won. I feel like THIS TEAM will find a way to win.

    THANK YOU MIAMI DOLPHINS!

    THANK YOU ADAM GASE!

    LOL

Maybe the refs saw that yellow flag hanging out of the back of your belt and may have took umbrage to it? They must have looked the other way all game huh?

Nice drop and that third and long by the way.

  73. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Just spent about 90 minutes typing out remaining schedules of all teams 6-7 or better in AFC.
We know the OBVIOUS things to cheer for: Pats over Denver… and Buffalo is a Playoff game next week for Miami!!

    AFC West
What I wanted to find out is: How can Miami get WC game at AFC SOUTH winner.
The answer… Miami needs to win out, Oakland has to lose out. (if AFC North champ is #3 seed)
We lose to Oakland in all tied scenarios because of W/L% in common games (Oak 4-1, Mia 4-2) if I did it right.

    AFC South
Otherwise, as WC #2 we’d need Houston (maybe Tenn) to finish with better record than Pitt or Balt.
Miami at 10-6, then Houston and Tenn (play each other week 17): Houston win eliminates Tenn… Tenn. win eliminates Houston. So, essentially, if we beat Buffalo we do NOT HAVE to worry about 2nd place team from AFC South in WC race.

    AFC North
Cincinatti needs to wake the fuck up… and have North champ at 9-7 (if Oak wins just 1 more game). Pittsburgh and Baltimore play each other on Christmas day. If they both win their other two games then its either Pitts 11-5 / Balt 9-7 … or Balt 10-6 / Pitts 10-6 (Pitt tied with Mia for WC 2)

What I haven’t figured out is if NORTH and SOUTH champs are both 10-6 (Pitt, Balt vs Houston, Tenn)… which team is the #3 seed on tiebreaks…

I know, I know, I know…. just get in and don’t worry. Well, we need ONE more win… and I need to know who to cheer for today. 🙂

    SUMMARY:
Miami at Buffalo IS a playoff game. If we win, win vs N.E. gives us a great chance to play WC round in decent weather against better match ups (imo).
Cheering for Houston the rest of the way, cheering against Pitt, Balt, or Oak in all remaining games.

Plus, a game at Houston means I could go watch it 🙂

    • Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

oops. I left out that Pats over Denver is obviously HUGE. If Denver wins they still have KC and Oakland but division games are toss ups… A Denver win and we are locked at WC#2 at best (because we’d need Oakland to beat Denver later).

I will cheer for a Pats BIG lead and at the end of the 3rd quarter Tom Brady breaks his vagina. 🙂

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“Plus, a game at Houston means I could go watch it”

lol — know I understand why you are so concerned about where we would play and can’t blame you…that would be a dream.

  74. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Apparently not hung over. Still drunk.

  75. Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

    Toba,

That is the gutsy-est round two ff playoff ww play ever! Bravo!

    Mike,
I’m not “not worried” about the run game as it has been pedestrian lately, but the defenses we’ve been against have been actually amongst the best in the league and most of them intentionally stacking the box to let the QB beat them. Luckily our QBs can beat them!

  76. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Win was good, but am going with what Ken said as the greatest joy for the future.

Turns out that Howard was taken high-2nd for an actual reason. Man has some skills. Not so worried about DB….no matter what happens with Maxwell (even if chances are he will be on the team in 2017).

    • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Don’t remember how Maxwell played last night , but he had picked up his game a lot the last few weeks

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

He injured his ankle in the first quarter, which got us to see a whole lot of Howard. And I have no problem with Maxwell. Like you said, he has gotten back on track. Plus figure he will be on the team next year. Maxwell, Lippett, Howard and McCain……not so bad.

  77. 81Howie's avatar 81Howie says:

I think our only hope is DEN losing a couple and I’m not feeling very good about the Patsies helping us out today…

  78. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Doggy

Yeah bro, that’s it, the demolition derby episode, which was pretty much towards the end of the show’s run. Loved that and Welcome Back Kotter every Thursday night.

  79. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Boulder, Ken, Jahn (Oh F it, EVERYONE! LOL)

They have definitely been stacking the box, but we were beating that in that win streak with Pouncey. In fact, they showed a graphic that we were averaging 8.5 YPC before this game when opponents stacked the box, (8 defenders) and we came out with a single back set, 2 TE’s. I’m glad we still ran the ball though, even if unsuccessfully. The previous numskull couldn’t seem to grasp that concept.

  80. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I was really calm in the 1st QTR, I told my wife I’m THIS close to throwing my remote right through the fucking TV! Like I said, calm.

  81. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Go Cincy!!! get some mojo and wreak havoc in the North. lol

  82. Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

You are right about that Mike, but 12 personnel is a run specialized formation and it closes down a lot of the playbook in the passing game.

The idea with being able to run it is to be able to do when you HAVE to because you can’t pass. Otherwise, the idea is to run so that you’re not a one dimensional passing team and keep defenses guessing. I think Gase and staff have done a very good job of the latter as of late, and I think if you start seeing that 12 personnel more often you’ll see our run game produce the way you want it to.

I guess that’s why I’m not sending up warning flares on the run game. I think it’s still there, they’ve just decided to use the defensive schemes against their opponents the last few weeks by taking what’s there in the passing game while defenses stack the box.

If it’s an ice bowl in buffalo next week, we could see 12 formation come back, or the same in playoffs. But if it’s nice. I’d rather have a team that is more balanced (and I do think the run/pass mix has been balanced the last few weeks in spite of the fact the production mostly came in the passing game), so it can take what the defense gives, or, in a pinchs, roll out that 2nd tight end and take what it needs to take on the ground if the weather dictates.
