Hurricane Irma has cancelled the Dolphins vs Bucs game originally scheduled for this Sunday. Obviously the game could not be played in the state of Florida with a lethal hurricane on the way with FLA in it’s path. Much to my dismay, the NFL couldn’t relocate the game to a neutral stadium this week.
What does this mean for the Dolphins? Both the Dolphins and the Buccaneers will now have Week 1 as their BYE week, and will then play 16 straight games without a week off, and for Miami, that includes a trip to London October 1st to play the New Orleans Saints at a sold out Wembley Stadium. To be more clear, what that means for our Dolphins is 3 straight road trips, to Los Angeles to play the Chargers next week, to New Jersey the following week to play the Jets, and then to London to “host” the Saints. That’s not great, especially knowing you don’t get a break the rest of the way.
So is it all bad for Miami? Obviously, with most things, there are positives and negatives. MLB Rey Maualuga gets another week to get into shape and get the defense down. It’s one less game that injured LG Ted Larsen will miss. It will give time to any injured Dolphins players to heal up now, and start the season as healthy as possible.
Back to the negatives . . . Safety T.J.McDonald is facing an 8 game suspension, and this just adds another week to his suspension. McDonald would have been eligible to play week 9, but now will have to wait for week 10. No matter what any player or coach says now regarding the situation, I can guarantee that they would have preferred to play this week, and keep their BYE week intact. The season is a long haul, and yes, up until 1989, teams played without a BYE week, BUT, the Dolphins and Bucs will be the ONLY teams NOT getting a BYE week, while every team with get to rest for a week at some point during the season. Fuck you very much Irma!
Back to the positives . . . We have Adam Gase coaching this team, and I believe if anyone can turn this into a minor annoyance, rather than a season changing dilemma, it would be Gase.
Go Dolphins! Zero in! Zero BYES!
To all our Florida friends in harms way, please be smart and get out of harms way. Board up your houses and make them as safe as you can, but keep yourselves safe. Your house can be replaced, but you and your family cannot. Love and best wishes to all of you!
Most likely in second but a game ahead in the loss column on two of them.
Man the Dolphins sure are clinging to the Zero-In mantra
Andy Dalton blows
He’s a blower
Steve, I knew I would get the “you’re an eternal optimist” response from someone. LOL
I’m just looking at it from how it could benefit us with all that happened in the offseason. Nothing the team can do about it other than take advantage of their situation.
Hello America… Here comes DemFinz!!! Everyone looks beatable… Pitt and Oak… the only two I see that might give us some trouble 🙂
Wasted no time getting Watson in even though Houston is getting killed. Watsons first pass is a TD.
He’s been sacked 7 times
Great play by the defender.
Lol
I e decided that Marcus Mariotta isn’t very good
Kizer might be good
He through a horrible INT earlier
Kizer might be good at getting sacked.
There, I fixed it.
😉
Watson hasn’t done anything special today but he is better than Savage
Wentz is for real. I sure hope he continues to develop. He may end up pretty good someday.
Yeah he does look like the real deal.
WOWWW!!!!
Yikes! Stay safe folks.
Woo Hoo, Fins go up a half game on NE & WC Contenders Titans, Texans, Bengals who all got whipped at home, Yeee Haaa, GOFINS!!!

That looks like a broken leg or ankle for Foster off replay.
4:51 PM here and winds north of Tampa are picking up. Lake in front of us has already added nearly a foot in extra depth today. A faster forward speed by Irma would prevent the lake from entering the back door of our house!–Most of west coast of Florida south of Tampa-Sarasota area is without power. We’re hoping ours lasts at least 2-3 more hours
—————–
Spent several hours this morning with Mrs. OD at an emergency vet clinic in Tampa. Our greyhound was bitten by a pit bull while I walked her last night near nightfall. It happened so fast I had no chance to protect the 2 dogs I was walking. Think my little mixed-breed dog (who was attacked a couple of months ago) may have taken a bite out of the offending dog. Bill for us was over $600. Dog got loose from a house when the wife of a police officer opened the door, unaware her dog was standing behind her. I imagine her husband won’t be real happy with this vet bill and the follow-up bill next week. But we sure could have used the extra hours to do a couple more things (such as pre-cook more meals for the expected 3-7 days without power in our house, beginning tonight.)

Our house in West Palm should be OK. NOT SURE about this one (a rental) which has never been involved with a hurricane during its 30+ years of existence. I believe the damage could be among the worst in the history of Florida, especially from flooding around Naples/Ft. Myers and Tampa Bay. Talk to you folks tomorrow.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours, Mr. Campbell. STAY SAFE!
Sorry that happened to your dogs. Stay safe!
BACK with unexpected GOOD NEWS: Recent advisory says Irma’s top winds now down to 110 MPH. If the eye stays over land, the top winds should continue to decline, perhaps below 100 by the time she gets to Tampa Bay!!

Mrs. OD’s bottle of wine will be opened and consumed!!!!!!
You guys are still in for a big storm, but won’t be anything like it could have been

The fear in Chicago is that WR Kevin White broke his collarbone and will require season-ending surgery, per… http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0698648489403355168-4 …

WOW
He missed his entire rookie season in ’15 due to injury, played only 4 games last year due to injury, and now may be done after 1 game this year. R1P7 in 2015.
That guy can’t stay healthy. We thought Parker was frustrating.

The #Bears have now lost their two top WRs — Cam Meredith and Kevin White — to Injured Reserve. One game into the season.
I wonder what former Bear Jay Cutler thinks about that right now…
Jay Cutler: “Glad I’m no longer there. NO… Jarvis Landry is NOT going to be traded to you.”
Hard to imagine how some weather Geek saying “the eye has broken” down could make so many of millions of people happy. We did even better than expected we would….but power could still go out. Hope Naples is OK.
Way to go Stanger. Glad you’re good brother.
It’s getting more and more for me. I’m outside. Lean into the wind it’s like ski jumping
Put on a bathing suit to pick up a broken floor tile from my balcony so it wouldn’t go projectile earlier. Got both a shower and a gust push in the back on the return trip from the wind that made feel like was water skiiing. East side it was pretty much a Cat 1, but one everywhere with a whole lot of tropical storm stuff before and after.
