At last! We’ve waited through the long off season. We’ve hung in there with the uncertainty of Week 1 only to see the game cancelled/postponed to a later date in the season. We’re going to have to wait til the late game this afternoon. WTF NFL? How much more can you expect one fan base to tolerate?
It’s going to be an interesting season to watch. No way around it, barring injury, Jay Cutler is going to make it interesting. I can’t say I was ever a Cutler fan, I have very high standards for QBs as everyone is well aware. But Cutler is the Dolphin’s QB now, so for me, right now, he is my QB! I’ve read more about him in the last few weeks and it seems he has gotten a bad rap over the years. It’s a new team and a new start for him. Take my advice Jay, don’t look back, you’re not going that way.
It’s Game Day baby! We ready!

Random: #Dolphins Jarvis Landry is now tied for #3 lowest receiving yardage in a game w/ 13 or > receptions. http://pfref.com/tiny/Oi30V @pfref
But his team won 😎👍👍
And that’s all that matters!
However, I feel as though he was showcased today on purpose… especially in the 1st half what with his attempted pass and his attempted run.
Showcasing for ??? A trade , he asks as he snidely stirs the pot 😎
That one handed catch for a loss hurt his average
Lucky win, but in a couple of weeks we’ll look at our record and no one will give a crap about how we won. That may have been a season saving win. I know it sounds stupid to say in week one, but we have too many things going against us this year to let this one slip away and expect to make the playoffs.
Whatever
That all you got 😛
Hey, I kind of like this whole lightning delay thing. I get to watch football between the afternoon game and the evening game instead of sitting through the usual dead zone.
Always nice to watch Cowboys get beat up.
lol, yep, always a blast.
One thing that has to change is getting at least SOME pressure with our front four. We couldn’t get any today, which forced us to blitz. When we blitzed, Rivers lit us up. When we rushed four, Rivers sat back until a receiver uncovered. I can’t remember the last time our pass rush was so effectively neutralized.
The Chargers did leave extra protection in on a lot of snaps too.

I’m not sure, Manitoba. Something seems to be afoot, IMO. And I’m a part of the crowd that says NO TRADING JARVIS, PERIOD (and he won’t clear us enough space to afford a stud this year anyway).
All I know is that we saw Jarvis the QB, Jarvis the RB, and Jarvis the WR (targeted HELLA plenty) today. Perhaps we’re trying to show him and his agent that we’re SERIOUS about bringing him back and involving him in our Cutler-led Offense this year… or perhaps we’re showcasing him for someone else. I haven’t the answer, but it certain stood out to ME.
Time shall reveal…
I think teams know who and what Landry is at this point of his career, and there’s absolutely no need to showcase him. I think it was a conservative game plan, and why not throw the ball to your most sure handed receiver who always gets separation in short areas? I think it was just that, and nothing more.
Interesting thoughts on Agent. … good way to send message.

Dolphins players seem unsure what happened with Lawrence Timmons. Mostly they expressed concern, not anger.
wooo hooo! I’ll take any win we can get. I can’t wait until I have the feeling that we are going to win in the 4th quarter instead of the dread that we are going to lose.
FIRST PLACE IN THE AFCE
THIRD PLACE IN THE AFC
after we thrash the Jets next week our record will be the same or better.

But he is all alone with the record of the most receptions by a receiver in the first 4 years of his career.

And LAC had two Tackles go down during the game. (or was it one twice?)
I only saw their RT go down (I could have missed a 2nd lineman), and the guy that went down was supposed to be abused by Wake, so Wake should have eaten up the replacement. Of course, most of the time they ran extra protection, it seemed it was usually to that right side.
so are the colts sucking for the next savior now?

Adam Gase not ready to discuss Lawrence Timmons’ absence from today’s game
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000845983/article/lawrence-timmons-not-part-of-dolphins-week-2-win?campaign=Twitter_atn
It’s beginning to seem more and more likely that something personal happened here with Timmons. Family problem? Friend in danger? Seems that Gase is respecting Timmons’ privacy on the matter. Hoping for the best.
Yeah, clearly a personal issue. Hopefully it doesn’t impact his availability any more than today.
When was the last time the Fins were alone at the top of the AFC east? 2007?
So, the defense sucks ass, but who was not entertained by that game? RT laughing on the sideline at Smokin’ Jay’s Read Option attempt was classic.
That was funny.
LOL, hopefully that is the last we see of Cutler’s version of the read-option.
Oh and the reffing also sucked ass. The uncatchable pass interference and the Parker incomplete pass were bad, but did no one see #37 throwing punches at Ajahi in the pile?
I saw that. Wound up, and punched down at Ajayi, while he was in the arms of maybe 2 or 3 tacklers.
And no mention of it.
Technically he was punching the ball….
I missed the punching of Ajayi, but I thought the ‘confirmed’ incomplete pass was ridiculous.
We only gave up 44 yards rushing.
I thought that was AWESOME. And that was against a quality RB.
Plus they had a 26 yd run and that RB went 2 for 5 otherwise.
Gordon had an 11 yd run and went 8 for 2 yds otherwise.
THIS is a HUGE improvement.
PLUs we had the first RB go over 100 yds against the chargers in like 17 games or something.
That is great OL play. And only 1 sack against those two wicked DEs.
Hull didn’t play great today, but I like seeing our MLB leading the team in tackles. Much better than having our S lead the team.
Hull was our leading tackler though.
oh, you just said that, shit. LOL
Did Davis start at LG?
Steen
Key stat of the day. LAC was 2/8 on third downs today.
Key stat is Parkey was 4 for 4. Parkey for MVP
Naples
I promise I’m not trying to rain on your great rushing defense parade, because I know if they had success, they would have stuck to it, but they shredded us through the air, so they didn’t really have to run all that much. That’s why like Steve always says, stats don’t tell the whole story. Rivers was 31-39 331 yards, no INT’s. He threw all over us. If they had a little more time, I would think we would have lost today.
I am pleased overall with Cutler’s performance, Although the WRs & TEs really helped him out with some pretty poorly placed passes. Behind them, above them, below their knees. The receivers were mostly responsible for his 101.83 passer rating and 72% completion percentage.
Son, I saw Davis in there quite a bit and he was doing some good run blocking.
Cutler did good managing the game. There was some rust. His arm did not look as strong as people say. His pocket presence though, he not only has eyes on the back of his head but on the sides of it as well.
I agree his pocket presence is impressive
He looked pretty athletic as well. (except for the read option play. LOL)
HERE IS NEWS NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR OR READ ABOUT. BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS.
————–
Recent reports and forecasts by the NHC (National Hurricane Center) in Miami indicate that either or both Hurricane Jose and Trop Storm soon to be Hurricane Maria could impact the Miami at the Jets game this coming weekend. Maria is expected to blast Barbuda, St. Maarten/St. Martin/St. Bart’s and Anguilla in a few days. Neither Florida nor the New Jersey/New England area are free from Maria’s wrath. Jose is expected to make a big loop out to sea and curve back to, possibly, the New Jersey/New York coastline late this upcoming week.
————-
OBVIOUSLY, the Dolphins WANT TO PLAY THE JETS. But if EITHER storm is threatening the area of the meadowlands, there’ll be NO WAY the game can be played this season. And this could REALLY screw-up Miami’s playoff hopes.
————-
HAD the Bucs @ Fins game been played mid week (as I lobbied for), we’d STILL have our bye week in play and, perhaps, a way COULD have been found to play the Mia @ Jets game in November. But that’s all out the window, now. HOPEFULLY BOTH STORMS will spare both the Jets and Fins franchises. I’m sure no one’s praying more for that than Steve Ross and Woody Johnson (and the 1,000 Fins fans who have tickets to the “MEADOWLANDS INVASION)!!
they can choose an alternate site for the game.
A LOGICAL atep might be to SWITCH the home sights for the two Jets-Phins games, playing in Miami this week and the meadowlands in Nov.
Just flip the games, play next week in Miami.
There’s always an alternative.

The Miami Dade police and fire departments did not have the staff to spare mid week. they were in emergency preperation mode. The only option was to relocate the game.
YOU are welcome to your opinion on that one. But I sure ad hell don’t agree with you.
I agree with OD. Why not bring security in from out of state? Again there’s always an alternative.

…Who is the best available LB out there we could bring in??
Buehler? Buehler? Rigel Spikes???
———
Nobody out there in FA is worth touching at this point is what I would say, Mr. Campbell. I wouldn’t get too freaked out about Lawrence Timmons, being it seems it’s more a personal issue than a team issue.
BUT… if there’s something there that’s really bad, I’m going to state it once again: trade for the 9ers’ backup MLB Brock Coyle. He’ll cost us roughly $1M, and we still have the cap space. He can play ALL THREE 4-3 LB positions now.
THANK YOU Mr. Spikes. I KNEW you’d have a plausible answer. TIME to walk the doggies then climb in the sack with Mrs. OD.–G’night, all.
Be well, my man… you AND the Mrs.!
I believe the Timmons issue was friend/family related, and he’ll be back soon. More specifically, I’m going to say female related.
EXACTLY my thinking.
The first Los Angeles Chargers game at the StubHub Center seemed like a neutral-site game.
And the Chargers players noticed.
“It was crazy, there were a lot of Chargers fans and there were also a lot of Miami fans,” Chargers running back Melvin Gordon said. “I think it was around 50-50, but it was nice to see a full house.”
It looked 50/50.. PHINS fans showed up big time. Was a great time. PHINS fans were definitely louder. Got the W !!!
Good job representing Doggie
thanks for standing up and making some noise Doggy!

It’s not my opinion, it is fact as stated by the Miami Dade officials. Bring in police for security from out of state when a hurricane is barrelling down on the state Steve?
I was just giving an alternative, but why not 3 days ahead of a hurricane?
One concern of note is 4 trips in the red zone and 0 TDs to show for it. We need to get Julius Thomas more involved. He was pretty invisible today especially in the red zone
Agreed
yeah, more than 3 for 26 would have been nice.
Peyton Manning wasn’t throwing to him. 😉
If I am not mistaken, Timmons is not married.
Nor was Andre Rison when “Left Eye” burned his house down.
Was not aware of that.. Holy Crap
I just said women involved.
The Matthews cousins are playing against each other in the Atl GB game. That would be weird.

YUP, and it’s well documented. And if ya didn’t already know who “Left-Eye” was, she was Lisa Lopez… one of the three who comprised the female R&B group “TLC”.
PS: I’m still in LOVE with Chilli (Rozanda)!!! 😀

I get you are spit balling ideas, but where would you get 250 police / security people from in a day’s notice? (yeah, three days ahead of time, but they need to work the deal, pay for and secure travel and housing for all those people) what you gonna call “cops-R-Us” and just have them deliver them? You also need to get those, lets say only 100 rental cops (assuming Miami Dade would provide 1/2 the staff needed) out of town before the storm hits in 2-3 days. the logistics was just impossible.
What do you not get about the point being there’s always a way?
I loved that “excuse me, I’ll take that” reception by Parker so much I’m gonna use it as my avi for a while.
It was deja vu with his catch in Philadelphia during the preseason. Someone said it was a bad pass, but Cutler is just throwing it up, against single coverage, because he has confidence Parker will catch it.
C’mon MikeE
Thay had just as much time as us. Their passing was effectivive to a point but 339 and only 17 points is on them or our D keeping them out of the endzone. And as I recall, they had the ball for a last few seconds FG but their New kicker sucks and our KICKED ASS!
“God Bless Us, Everyone!” …. it was a September miracle (missed kick) !!!

Timmons was leaving the team and flying home?
Rosenhaus, Timmons agent said it was a personal matter, but wouldn’t elaborate.
For SD its great to have 300+ yards passing, but when you’re 2 for 8 on 3rd down, rush for 44 or so yards and cant get the ball in the endzone enough, it kind of negates the passing yards. For us thoss passing yarfs are a problem.
Passing yarfs are always a problem, throughout the league
