  2. Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

I like Moore a lot. As a backup. I think he can win a few games for you, but I don’t think he can carry the team 10-11 games, win enough to get you to the playoffs, and beyond. Cutler isn’t currently getting it done, but if something suddenly clicks he can easily, and HAS been that QB.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed, it just doesn’t feel like that’s going to happen because this is 3 weeks in a row scoring 6, 0 and 9 on offense. I never expected this.

  3. Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

Oh snap, hardly ever post and got the page turn! Off to buy the Lotto tix!

  4. drg's avatar drg says:

    Randy,

I’m with you on this. Seen enough of Cutler and it’s not like he doesn’t have a track record of alienating players and fans in Chicago with this same play and behavior. It isn’t all his fault, but what’s the upside here?

Moore had numbers similar to Tannehill last year. He can win games. We aren’t a contender with him, but at least we are competitive. There’s nothing worse than watching your team play a game as if they don’t care. That’s what I’ve seen from the offense so far. Moore is the only easy switch we can make so pull the trigger already.

    Jahn,

I get the concern about having to go back to Cutler if Moore sucks or gets hurt. I can’t watch Cutler though…. I don’t see him turning it around either. He didn’t want to play in the first place until Gase talked him into it. I think he is just cashing the check and can’t get back to the TV gig soon enough.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Hard to compare a QB’s numbers with 12+ games compared to 4+ games if you count the playoffs. And Moore didn’t play well the last game against the Pats and was bad in the PIT playoff game even though we didn’t lose just because of him.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

But there is still an outside chance that we could get a playoff spot with Cutler. I’d at least stay with him until that chance is gone. If we can’t make the playoffs, then the record could care less about other than draft order.

  5. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I’m more on the Jahn rather than the DRG or Randy side of this, least as to possible timing. And heck….if Gase wanted to make the switch the perfect time would be if we are getting crushed by the Falcons at half and Cutler is looking piss poor. And Gase is a friend who talked Cutler out of retirement. He won’t make the move until he look Jay in the eye and say “you know why I had to do it.”

  6. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I think Cutler is getting ripped more than he deserves, but I think it’s because he seems completely uninterested. He’s getting very little help from anybody, and he can’t do it himself. It’s more his attitude that has me thinking a change needs to be made. Is a guy who came out of retirement for $10M and hasn’t gone through the grind and developed a connection with the other players gonna put his health or body on the line to make a play? It sure doesn’t look like it.
    ***
Also, can we find a TE? Ours suck. Thomas is awful. His blocking is very bad. Fasano is absolutely nothing special. He’s old and slow and not doing much of anything. If he’s just gonna block…put an extra OL in instead. This FO has made some very poor personnel decisions.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Regardless of how you feel about Tannehill, and I know how you feel about him lol, it’s never easy when you lose your starting QB.

Let’s be happy the FO has made some real good decisions on defense. 🙂

  7. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

    Right on, Herd!

  8. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

John may have it right. Gase has the perfect excuse to make some changes (Foerster), so make them and give Cutler two more games.

  10. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Yeah, TE seems to be the Front Office’s Achilles Heel. Although, after yesterday I go back to questioning them letting Richard Matthews go.

  11. drg's avatar drg says:

    Stanger,

I think Moore gives us a better chance to win. That’s why I want him in there. Cutler is done and I don’t believe he has a higher ceiling at this stage of his career for multiple reasons.

  12. Randy's avatar Randy says:

If our OL doesn’t improve, it won’t matter who’s playing QB. It’s just that it’s easier to replace one guy than 5. I don’t really care if we make a change now or wait and see what is going on in another couple games. I just don’t think things are going to improve unless the OL shows dramatic improvement. Cutler just looks like he’s going thru the motions and thinking of himself…and not getting hurt.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

No doubt that OL is a weak point, but then we all knew that before FA even started. Yeah I was hyped on improving that, but even if got my wishes we right now might be talking about line looks good but the D is killing us. Was always more than a one-year project.

  13. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
I’m not talking about Tannehill! I thought we were an 8 win team with him.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

8-5 and the team was playing better. I was talking about losing your starting QB. It’s never easy to replace them even if they’re not great players. All the offseason work and being in the 2nd season under Gase and his system, what works well and what doesn’t being looked at and worked on, then all that changes. Not easy.

  14. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

DRG– Have seen what Moore can do, but still have dreams of what Cutler’s strong arm could do if other stuff comes into place. Am sure Bears fans would agree that “for almost every real good looking women out there is a guy who is sick of her.” But then know Moore ain’t the whole package either.

  16. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

I am right with DRG, KEN and Randy. Our OL had a bunch of injuries the back half of last year but we put up points with MM and won some games. To me the OL is playing like it did the end of last year but you couple that with Cutler playing scared with a watered down playbook and we get the product we are seeing right now.
The fact that he was not here during training camp is just an excuse to me now that we are 5 weeks into the season and have seen ABSOLUTELY no improvement. Even with a watered down playbook, Cutler is taking forever to process the play called and look over the D.
Right now Atlanta is watching our game film and saying, “This is easy, we only have to prepare for this, this, and that. Lets just attack Cutler so he tucks his tail all game and force him into bad throws”. “Oh, and be ready for a WR screen by play #4 or 5”.
At least MM knows the whole playbook and we were making plays instead of calling one of a hand full of plays and HOPE it works.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Moore started 4 games including the playoff game against PIT, we won the first two and got beaten pretty badly the last 2. So some games = 2 out of 4. Not trying to knock Moore, just being realistic about what happened. People seem to have this idea that we rallied under Moore as if we were struggling before he came in. We were on a 7-1 run with Tannehill before he got hurt.

  17. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I was originally for starting Moore when RT went down, but was okay when they signed Cutler. I thought he would be a better player. I can deal with his resting bitch face, but damn it’s easier to do so if he’s playing lights out.

  18. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

You can see our skill players (mainly Landry) really getting frustrated with this watered down playbook.

  19. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

What’s going to happen to cutler in the next 2 games

Is he going to give us 200 passing yards rather than 92

Cutler is not just a guy out of sync with this offense
    He’s pitiful

I tend to think 3 weeks from now we will be 3-3
But what if making a change helped us get to 4-2
What if not making a change caused us to be 2-4

We are in the thick of an AFC east race

It’s just not worth it to stick with him

Cutler at his best is really not much better than Matt Moore
    Move on from cutler

Honestly I would cut him and eat the 10mil we signed him for

There’s no point to delaying that

  20. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I get the starting QB vs backup QB mentality thing, I said it myself here when they signed Cutler and all things pointed to him being the starter. There’s a reason why Matt Moore is a backup QB, and has stayed here to be the backup QB, rather than leaving to find a place where he could compete for a starting job. That opportunity most likely never existed anyway, because Matt Moore wouldn’t be any teams answer as a starter. He has shown he won’t make it through a full season healthy, and can’t sustain a high level of play for a string of NFL games. He’s up and down, and that’s why he’s a backup. He’s also good at coming into a game cold, whereas Cutler probably wouldn’t do as well if say Moore started, and Cutler had to come in during the middle of the game.

Gase is sticking with Cutler, because he’s his starter. That’s it. We have to hope we can get better blocking up front, and Cutler has a clean pocket, or it’s going to be more of the same with his offense.

  21. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Honestly just doing dump passes to Landry in 1st or 2nd down to get 2-4 yards and out us in better position to covert 3rd down shouldn’t be that hard

Cutler has me thinking dink and dunk is brain surgery

I bet we can sign a few guys off the streets to perform better than cutler

  22. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Piggy

We’re in thick of a an AFC race? That’s an overstatement. Without Devante Parker, this offense isn’t nearly as explosive, and whether it’s Moore or Cutler, if Ajayi isn’t running for 100 + yards, this offense is done. Look at last year, it was the same deal. Did you forget? If Ajayi isn’t getting his yards, Moore won’t be flourishing anymoore than Cutler

  23. Do We remember HOW we got it going last year?
Refresher, the OL started BLOCKING, we destroyed stealers and got the wins coming, with Great Offensive line play, allowing Ajayi and Tannehill room and time to do what they do.

Where is that offensive line from the stealers win onward?

  24. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Here’s another thing, Moore is not always good coming off the bench cold. In the ARZ game when Tannehill went down, we were up 21-9. Moore failed to convert a 1st down on his first 3 possessions as ARZ mounted their comeback. Not blaming just Moore, our defense wasn’t holding up either. We won 26-23 on a late FG where yes Moore did make some key throws to set up that FG. But we were in control of the game when Tannehill was playing.

The moral of the story is starters are starters for a reason, and backups are backups for a reason.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Rather than come off the bench – I think the idea is to start him

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I was commenting on some comments that he’s good cold off the bench. Not really true. In the BUF game a few years back when Tannehill got hurt he threw a pick on his first pass. He’s actually been better when he’s had a chance to prepare all week. I was also pointing out that his play last year when he came in was just as up and down as everyone is pointing out.

  25. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Piggy

It’s not the records man. Heck, I think the Jets look like a more rounded team than we do right now.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

The jests are a perfect example of why we should play Moore
Moore will probably beat the jests
Another sub 100 yard game from cutler will lose games like that

      Look around
The NFL isn’t very good right now

My point wasn’t our odds of winning
It’s doing what is necessary to win the next game

We can, beleive it or not, be the worst offense in the NFL and still be a playoff game. It’s painful to watch but like it or not we are .500 right now and I pretty much expect .500 after 6 games as well – but probably not with cutler

  26. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We all know that if the offense doesn’t play much better we have no chance at the playoffs. The defense won’t hold up with no support on offense. That’s a shame too because they are balling.

  27. How good are the chiefs? 5-0 is a helluva start, and they could be 6-0 next week.
they host the interception machine Big Ben and his troops next Sunday

  28. Watson had 5 TDs last night, so Chiefs found other ways to win, even returned a punt for TD

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The Chiefs look like the best team, have all year. Watson is on fire though and he has no fear taking shots down the field allowing his talented WRs to make plays.

  29. Is it possible the Dolphins save the undefeated season of 72 again? , we travel to KC on 12/24

  30. This is the kind of run blocking We need to give Ajayi
Check out the untouched Fournette going for a 90 yard TD

“It caused some problems for the defenses, because they had to prepare for two different styles of offense. David and I understood what Shula was going to do, and the combination was successful. It’s hard to beef about it.”

    — Don Strock

  32. In the 82 season SB, Woodley tanked the second half badly, and Strock never got an at bat,
So I’m not sure if We could have won if Strock played the second half or not.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“In the 82 season SB”….I settle for a loss in the superbowl with Cutmoore.

      • We also had the best defense in 82, lol
We Don’t have that now, but this defense does have potential to be great

      • We had the best pass defense in the NFL, by far, but we were number 2 overall because our rush d wasn’t that great.
Riggins exposed the Bees weakness, lmao and grrrr
But Woodley didn’t complete a pass the entire fourth quarter, and maybe only one in the third quarter, he completely caved in like the weak QB he was

  33. TOP SECRET's avatar TOP SECRET says:

well…..since I gave up supporting the NFL for their blatant disrespect for the American anthem and it’s colors….can anyone tell me what leg OBJ broke?…..was it the plant leg, or the raised dog pee leg?….well, at least he has a reason to sit the anthem out…poor baby.

  34. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The Killer B’s defense is what also hurt Marino in the mid and late 80’s. We kept riding too many of those guys and they weren’t the same players and the defense got worse every year. Strangely enough we kept adding more defensive players with names beginning with B – Bowser, Brophy, M. Brown and B. Brown. Kind of crazy. LOL

    • Lol it did seem weird so many B,s. They weren’t as good in 84

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Charles Bowser was on his way to being a real good pass rushing OLB until he suffered an Achilles injury which was career ending back then.

        82 – rookie season 9 games 2.0 sacks
        83 – 16 games 6.5 sacks
        84 – 16 games 9.0 sacks
        85 – 2 games 2.5 sacks (end of career)

Mark Brown became a pretty good LB for a few years. Brophy and Bud Brown were not very good.

  35. Whats bad for Beckham isn’t the pain in the ankle,
it’s the pain of this injury complicating his upcoming mega contract he was expecting.
This could toss an very expensive monkey wrench into the proceedings

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

No doubt. His antics don’t help his cause either. He’s an extremely gifted and explosive WR who simply won’t just go play, have fun and not try to be a distraction. The way I would look at it if I was GM at this particular time, I guess we can go 0-4 without you (he missed week one). As good as he is, not sure I’m ready to give him a big, long-term deal off this injury next year, but I’d probably be willing to franchise him and say, play for pay this season.

    • TOP SECRET's avatar TOP SECRET says:

      poor turd…lol

    • Top, cmon buddy, surely You did notice BRandon Marshall ALSO got an injured ankle same game? Lol sux to be 0-5 Giants

  36. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

We’re probably not going to find out whether Moore would have been better or not, so keep that in mind. Unless Cutler has another dreadful day, he’s staying as the QB

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We’ll never find that out because that time has passed. If Cutler has another bad game along with the offense, I think Moore deserves a shot as does the team deserve a change. Let’s say Moore is ho-hum and we go 1-2 with him and Gase then feels it’s time to go back to Cutler, okay fine. But 4 bad games in a row is a little much with a guy that is not our future. It’s not like he’s a young potential QB of the future that we’re going to go through growing pains with.

  37. TOP SECRET's avatar TOP SECRET says:

david…..no, I didn’t notice…..i’m just picking up little bits of information from friends that let me know what NFL info will amuse me…..like ROSS just changed his stance on disrespecting the flag…..bout fucking time,

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The anthem/flag protest stance got out of hand and owners were put in a bad place between honor for America and respecting their players’ rights to express their views. It was also about their franchises and yes their bottom line. But that’s real life.

It’s easy to say fuck them and cut their sorry asses when that ain’t gonna happen. Even Jerry Jones found a way around his initial comments.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

So you gave up on supporting the NFL, but are still wanting to follow what happens by piecing together what you get from your friends? But heck — guess we have our own choices to make in life. You done with the NFL and the Phins forever?

  38. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s funny how a season goes. After the week one win over the Chargers on the road with Cutler playing a solid game, the Tannehill not being in the picture comments started up. 3 games later and not only is that not a topic anymore, but drafting a QB early is in the mix incase Tannehill isn’t the same, which I don’t think will be an issue. His initial knee injury wasn’t that bad nor was the re-injure. It’s just that his first non-surgery approach wasn’t good enough. He didn’t shred everything. He had the surgery and is already walking around.

  39. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

According to Barry Jackson: “An MRI on receiver DeVante Parker’s injured ankle revealed nothing more than a sprain, and he’s questionable for Sunday’s game at Atlanta….The injury is not considered serious.”

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I posted that already but no beer necessary. 🙂

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

You posted some tweets on the same general info without some of what was in the article (MRI and questoinable included)…..no beer for you my friend.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s why I said no beer, but the intel was already there. He twisted his ankle. It happens when you’re flying around out there. He draws a lot of attention and gets hit a lot over the middle. Maybe he misses the next game at most. it happens. Lots of top level WRs aren’t durable. Some peeps seem to want to paint Parker that way. Look around the league. A lot of players and really good ones are done for the year or hurting. It’s not just our guys.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Just happy “high-ankle” was not in there. And even more not the foot thing again.

  40. A lot of things to consider, one, next year is loaded at QB prospects.

too early to say for certain, but could be 4-5 QB go in the first round.

I don’t feel that we have the luxury of passing on QB in the 2018 draft, because I’m currently unhappy with our QB situation.

    • Hopefully FO brings in the guy that can BEST help us, whoever that may be

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I also feel it may be fool’s gold. But the NFL has to go for it. Everyone is looking for the next franchise QB.

If Tannehill is good to go, I ride with him over a guy who has never taken an NFL snap. Not even close.

      http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?position=QB&type=position
It’s not easy to find the guy at QB.

      • I believe What’s fools gold is hoping cutler and Tannehill can win a super bowl or a playoff game

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I don’t expect a QB to win a super bowl. I expect a team to do it. What we were building on from last year’s 9-2 run with Ajayi and a revamped but hampered defense down the stretch into this year was promising. The defense is looking good. The OL still has some issues as usual. Who’s not here? Tannehill!

We went on a 7-1 run with him after a 1-4 start. Moore finished at 2-1. The team was playing its ass off as they lost starter after starter down the stretch. We had nothing left against PIT in the playoffs. Okay, it happens. But let’s not act like something good wasn’t happening with Ajayi emerging and Tannehill feeding off of it, along with our WRs.

It blew up in August of TC before we played a PS game.

I feel so bad for all the people that have lost their homes and there is no containment. It’s going to get really ugly before it gets better. 😔

  42. TOP SECRET's avatar TOP SECRET says:

STANGER…..as I said before, I was ok with the NFL when it was just a few American anthem and flag disrespecting players doing what they do……but then, the NFL was faced with a CHOICE to either side with the players and keep the disrespect on going OR outlaw the disrespect……to me, they chose wrong……funny, the NFL can fine players for not wearing the same socks and cleats, and end zone antics….but say fuck the feelings of millions of patriotic Americans.

    • TOP SECRET's avatar TOP SECRET says:

oh…..if the NFL wises up and changes their stance on regulating disrespect of my country, i may end my boycott.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Top — the NFL had no power to do anything….such would have to be done through the CBA negotiated with the union, like the fines you talk about. Now the 32 owners each had options and each one chose decided what to do about it. So not sure what “CHOICE” the NFL collectively had. At the Dolphins game all stood, but according to reports 3 players decided not to come out on the field till after the anthem was over. You boycotting the Phins over that….no one in the stands noticed.

      • TOP SECRET's avatar TOP SECRET says:

the individual owners will be shitting their collective pants next year…..see, their bills (advertising) are already paid for this season…..if they don’t change things quick, their sponsorship will fade…wait and see what the CAP will be next year…lol.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Would love to pick up my Phins tickets on the cheap. Maybe that would get some people to sell there seasons and let me get them. Not like the team is gonna stop playing. Even if doubt you are right given the response to the whole thing….hoping you are.

    *
    Tim,
Unfortunately, heroin is rampant almost everywhere nowadays. There are a large percentage of people who become addicted to opiates, and then switch to heroin because it is cheaper and easier to obtain. It’s an awful fucking drug.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s really bad. My daughter’s friend overdosed a few weeks ago and died. Fortunately she’s not into crap like that and is doing well in her life. But she had to say goodbye to a friend and a girl way too young.

Thank God for that Tim. I’m praying to God that this epidemic subsides before my kids get to the age where I have to worry about that shit. It scares me to death.

  44. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Question: does anybody think we did well against the Titans’ vaunted, 2-headed monster running game, holding them to 3.5 YPC?

  45. Tim, how good do You think Tanny can be next year? No guarantees in life, he was supposed to play this year and missed 16 games.
What will RT be like next season, and what if he can’t play like we need? Call cutler back?
I don’t see the harm in bringing in a QB in the draft, we might need him, and who knows, he could be the next great QB to help us win a SB someday

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Nobody has the answer to that but I know RT will work his tail off and be ready if his knee allows him to. I think we forget we were getting better when he was our QB, not worse. 1-4 start and 7-1 run should not be overlooked. It downplays how hard that was to accomplish.

2008 with Pennington, started off 2-4, went 9-1 down the stretch. Nothing left in the playoffs against BAL.

      • I agree no one knows the answer to how good Tannehill will be, or if he can play like we need him too.
The uncertainty is why I would be happy if we drafted QB, gives us more tools in the bag to work with 🙂

  46. Phindog's avatar Phindog says:

My sister is ok and going to my Moms house.. She was at work and wouldn’t let her in her neighborhood to grab her important docs from her house. She’s taking it well .

  47. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Cutler or Moore….I guess I just need to see a change. I was willing to give Cutler and everyone a few games to get stuff together, but it hasn’t worked at all. Now, it just looks like Cutler couldn’t care less whether we win or lose. Is that true or just my perception. I think it’s in his play. Gase really can’t afford to cut two guys like last year….who would it be? So, how does he send a message and possibly jar this team awake? Maybe you bench your QB. Who knows. Cutler has the skills. Are his head and heart in it?

  48. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Question: does anybody think we did well against the Titans’ vaunted, 2-headed monster running game, holding them to 3.5 YPC?
    ————
I say HELL YEAH!!! 3.5 YPC is pretty good against ANY running opponent. Here’s the point: Cutler averaged 3.4 YPCompletion yesterday. Not only is that sub-par, it’s unacceptable in any way, shape, or form.

Remember back in ’09 when Mr. Pennington played a mere 3 games for us with his ‘dink-and-dunk- arm? He averaged 5.6 YPCompletion. Guess what Cutler is averaging this year through 4 games? 5.4 YPCompletion.

Folks, Cutler’s arm is injured. I don’t care what the coaching staff says… but that they won’t call a pass for more than 10-15 yards MAX is TELLING.

Yes, the O-Line is HORRIBLE this year (perhaps Chris Foerster has something to do with it, who knows)… but that’s no excuse to not call the occasional deep pass to get 8 out of the box. And as we all know, we faced 8 in-the-box very often last year. Tannehill was able to take the tops off Defenses via DeVante and especially Stills, freeing up Ajayi to do HIS thing.

Until we get a deep ball generated, Ajayi is going to be averaging his now 3.4 YPC (matching Cutler’s inept 3.4 YPCompletion) this year.

Guys, it’s time for Matt Moore… like it or not. He’ll at least get the deep ball going, which will in turn get the J-Train chugging once again. Cutler’s arm is INJURED.

Miami Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso put up an elite performance Week 5 versus the Tennessee Titans. Playing all 59 of the team’s defensive snaps, Alonso earned an overall grade of 91.7 while making plays in coverage, against the run and even rushing the passer. With just Monday night football remaining, Alonso has the highest game grade of the week among linebackers.
Defending the pass, Alonso was fantastic in coverage in this game, earning a coverage grade of 88.3 on 34 coverage snaps. He allowed just 18 yards on three receptions while also making three tackles resulting in an offensive failure in the passing game. Alonso also picked up a sack off of a blitz.
On 20 snaps defending the run, Alonso racked up three more stops giving him the third highest run-stop percentage for the week among 4-3 outside linebackers at 15.0 percent.

SUNDAY’S TITANS @ DOLPHINS GAME at DON SHULA STADIUM (AKA Hard Head Stadium/Hard Rock Stadium) provided a mixed bag of results for those in attendance. The following consists of THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY of what I experienced.
    ————-
    THE GOOD:
    1) YOUNG STANGER. Jon, I love ya’ like a brother! Going to a Fins game with you is a special experience. Now that all members of my former “posse” have cancelled their seasons tickets, YOU are all that’s left of the 10 or so members of “My Boyz.” I treasure these times and these games!
    2) THE DEFENSE REFUSED TO WEAR DOWN! The defense’s “Phantom Touchdown,” scored by Reshad Jones, was not seen by ANYONE in our area. We were all focused on Matt Cassell, who’d been CRUSHED by Miami’s pass rush! Jones’s alert play was the difference between victory and defeat! In truth, the whole defense played their guts out in the sweltering heat! They were sensational!!!
3)TITANS FANS WERE RESPECTFUL and nice. What a difference from Jets’ fans!
4)EARLY OPENING OF THE PARKING LOT. The gates swung open about 9:00 AM, an hour earlier than posted. This wise choice allowed for easy entry between 10 and 11 AM, unlike the usual bottlenecks typical of prior home openers. Once inside, I had many nice chats with several U.S. Army guys who were guests of the Dolphins on Sunday. They, too, were respectful and nice to this old Army man.
    5) SEND OUT THE DEFENSE! The Dolphins were set to receive the second half kick-off. As the return unit ran onto the field, I yelled out “SEND OUT THE DEEEEFENSE! They’re more likely to score than the offense!” A few fans chuckled and laughed!
    6) FAU’S FOOTBALL TEAM crushed Old Dominion 58-28 Saturday Night. This had NOTHING to do with the Fins game (except put me in an even better mood). But my alma mater’s nearly FULL PAGE COVERAGE on p.2 of the Sun-Sentinel’s Sunday Sports section was the most publicity they’ve received since winning their last bowl game. The Owls ran for 453 yards, passed for about 100 more, and scored 8 rushing touchdowns! Bring on the Crimson Tide!!!

    THE BAD:

1)NO GASOLINE or BEER at the Miccousukee convenience store at mile marker 49 on Alligator Alley between Naples and Ft. Lauderdale. Instead of the advertised “50 miles to next gas station,” it was actually 95 miles both going and coming without gasoline. Some of the intellectually challenged fans ran out of gas! This was REALLY BAD because – – –
    2) THE FENCE ON BOTH SIDES OF ALLIGATOR ALLEY WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED BY IRMA!! Gators, giant snakes, Florida Panthers, etc., had nothing to stop them from strolling across the “ALLEY” for several stretches of the road!! Do NOT drive this road AT NIGHT until the fences on both sides are repaired!! This may take several MONTHS!!
    3) THE O-LINE STUNK for several parts of the game. Were they snorting something?
4)LUXURY SEATS ON MIAMI’s side between the 30’s were over 50% vacant midway through the 1st quarter. That’s ACTUALLY BETTER THAN AVERAGE since Ross redesigned the stadium and kicked season ticket holders like me and “My Boyz” to distant places in the Stadium. Folks continue NOT TO PAY $1,000-$2,000 per ticket per game! SO THE SEATS STAY EMPTY!!!
5)BATTLE WITH MANAGEMENT; In the recent past, season ticket holders have gotten 10% off on food, beverage and official Dolphins’ paraphenalia sold at the stadium. All you had to do was flash your membership card to get the discount. NOW, however, you’re required to have a special “app” on a Dolphins’ approved I-Pad to get the discount! My little cell phone will NOT accept this “APP” so I am “shit out of luck” as I just found out. I have lodged my complaint with management over this issue. Just another way Ross screws some of his dwindling season ticket holders!!!
    6) SMOKERS: YS and ME spent most of the second half under cover, away from the searing heat (which was taking a toll on YS)!! Yes, we wisely stayed in the shade. UNFORTUNATELY, the only 2 remaining seats we could find in this concession area were right beside a guy who, after a few minutes, ILLEGALLY LIT UP A CIGARETTE!! When I told him smoking was only legal out in the breezeways on the ramps, he replied “No one’s stopped me so far!” About 4 years ago I had a near fatal asthma attack after I got home from a game where i accidently was hit by heavy smoke from 4 teenage girls smoking where it was not legal to do so. I was NOT going to let that happen again, so, I got up and left the game about 5-10 minutes before I wanted to. Second hand smoke KILLS!! I hope this guy was dealt with.

    THE UGLY:

    1) I observed significant hurricane damage in the Naples area on this trip. Blue tarp roofs are very depressing. And HUGE trees totally uprooted and moved several hundred yards are scary. Many (most?) large road signs on I-75 near Naples were totally destroyed!!
    2) JAY CUTLER–Worst starting QB in Dolphins’ history since George Wilson, Jr., in 1966! Chad Henne would be an upgrade!! Bull headed Adam Gase unwilling to admit he made an UGLY, expensive, mistake by paying Cutler $10M. Time to drug test the entire coaching staff!!
    3) BLOWN CALL on offensive pass interference against Titans MAY have cost Tennessee a win. But, I’ll take it! But the call was UGLY WRONG!!
    4) THE SNORTING O-LINE COACH! Ken’s right! This is actually GREAT NEWS for Miami! A drug-free coach should do a lot better than this guy!! BUT IT WAS UGLY!!
5)ATLANTA IS NEXT!! Falcons had a bye week to prepare for the Fins. You DO remember what a “BYE WEEK” is, right, folks? Miami’s now a 9 point ‘dog in this game. IT WILL BE UGLY!! Should put those attending the FEST in an UGLY MOOD NEXT SUNDAY after the Atlanta game!!–Bring on the Jets!! We want BLOOD!!

    • Wow, amazing , You didn’t miss a thing, lol. Hope it was all worth it, but hell yea all the hurricane clean up isn’t finished yet 😎

S Reshad Jones, Miami Dolphins, 90.3 overall grade
Dolphins safety Reshad Jones was another player on the Miami defense who really stood out against the run on Sunday, registering four tackles on the 12 snaps against run when he lined up within eight yards of the line of scrimmage. Two of those tackles resulted in a defensive stop, giving him a run stop percentage of 16.7 percent.

S Reshad Jones, 90.3 overall grade

LB Lawrence Timmons, 85.7 overall grade

G Anthony Steen, 83.9 overall grade

DI Ndamukong Suh, 83.8 overall grade

    PERFORMANCES OF NOTE:
QB JAY CUTLER, 73.8 OVERALL GRADE
Jay Cutler was not needed to do much against the Titans to get the win. While Cutler failed to throw for 100 yards and had one interception, he was more than willing to throw the ball away and not force anything other than the one interception, letting his defense and run game win the game. When Cutler was pressured, he only completed one on seven attempts for 14 yards.

C MIKE POUNCEY 82.0 OVERALL GRADE
With the struggles the Dolphins offense had against the Titans, it would seem easy to blame the offensive line. However, this would be unfair, as the offensive line managed to get movement in the run game. In the passing game, the unit only allowed five pressures on 28 dropbacks.

LB KIKO ALONSO, 91.9 OVERALL GRADE
KIKO ALONSO STOOD OUT IN A GAME THAT WILL NOT EXACTLY BE REPLAYED OFTEN. ALONSO WAS A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH, AS HE ALLOWED ONLY 18 YARDS IN COVERAGE ON FOUR TARGETS AND RECORDED 6 DEFENSIVE STOPS INCLUDING A SACK.
S RESHAD JONES, 90.3 OVERALL GRADE
Reshad Jones’ smart play of running the fumble for the touchdown in the first quarter ended up being the difference maker. He was also a force in the run game, recording three run stops on 20 running plays.

The ball caromed off Alonso’s shoulder. (It seemed; i had a bad angle to see what body part, could’ve been the forearm.)

The hit made the ball go forward. it’s not that complex. Cassel’s arm was stationery and starting but never forward and Alonso’s hit made the ball jar out. He never threw it. The same with “The Tuck Rule”, that call was wrong and everyone knows it. But the Pats have a charmed existence.

  78. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

As for the penalty on the TD pass, yeah that was a bad break for them as the foul did not enable the TD, but it was a definite callable foul. The league is trying to crack down on pick plays and other shenanigans by offensive guys who for years have been immune to offensive PI.

I don’t know if Cutler is injured or not right now I think he just sucks and or doesn’t care right now. In all honesty I think a lot of his problems are mechanical right especially with not setting his feet right. He is particularly bad when rolling out

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

a QB prancing while throwing or throwing off his back foot is a low percentage, desperation move. Those should not be his two most prevalent throwing motions.

90% of a QB’s throws should be textbook form with the feet set and the over the top arm and optimal release point.

They can drop down and sling it side-arm and all that other crap once or twice a game and if it works great, but every throw cannot be a mechanical adventure.
