Week 8 – Game 7 – Dolphins @ Ravens

Baltimore-Ravens-vs-Miami-Dolphins-NFL-Matchup-jpg_734882_ver1.0_1280_720

The Dolphins will have a short time to celebrate this week after an exciting come from behind victory at Hard Rock stadium in Miami.  QB Matt Moore led the comeback against the Jets down 28-14 after Jay Cutler was sacked and was later to be found to have multiple cracked ribs.  The Dolphins prevailed with Moore at the helm, winning the game 31-28 in the final minute of the game.  Fest games don’t get much better than that, although I have to admit, last year’s Buffalo comeback win 28-24 was pretty damn close!

NFL: New York Jets at Miami Dolphins

So Cutler is out, and now all of you who can’t stand Cutler get your wish.  I caution you though, be careful what you wish for!  No slight to Moore, but Jay Cutler was actually playing well in this game.  Yeah, detractors will point out the pass to Stills (Which was a completion BTW), or the tipped pass for an INT (It happens to every QB), or that we were down 28-14.  I don’t know any more than any of you who want Moore over Cutler, but I got a guy on my side who counts a lot more than you knuckleheads, and that’s HC Adam Gase.

I’ll say this, Moore looked very confident, very comfortable, and moved the team well.  There was a definite difference in the tempo, Moore ran things smoothly, as if he’s been here for years, well, because he has.  I liked what I saw, but I also remember the Matt Moore that makes a great throw one play, and the next tries to force one in there and it’s going the other way.  Matt Moore is a capable NFL QB, but is he sustainable?  I’m not sure if we’ll find that out, because I think he may only get a few games (3-4) before Cutler is healthy enough to play again, and at that point, I do hope it’s a difficult decision for Adam Gase to make, because that would mean Moore has been playing great.  If Moore struggles, there will be no question at all that Cutler will be the QB when healthy.

DolphinsJets_57

How about that D-E-F-E-N-S-E ?  Yeah, they struggled a bit against the Jets, but came up big at the end of the game, shutting down the Jets on their last 3 possessions, coming up with the HUGE Bobby McCain INT on the last of the 3 to enable the Dolphins to kick the game winning field goal.  Cam Wake now has 6 sacks in 6 games, which puts him on pace for 16 for the season, which would be a career high for Wake at age 35.  Isn’t that somethin’?  The defense has been getting contributions from a lot of players, the D-line, and I mean more than just Suh, including Phillips, Godchaux, Hayes, Taylor, Harris, Fede, and of course, the LB’s, Alonso, Timmons and even Maualuga.  Reshad Jones is back, and is exactly what we need back there in the secondary.  I can’t wait to see the tandem of Jones and McDonald in Week 9.  Nate Allen hasn’t been awful, but he’s a complete non-factor.  The two young CB’s have had their ups and downs, tank had a rough outing last week, but he’s going to have those.  I’m very pleased with the tandem of Tankersley and Howard.  Next year, hopefully Lippett is back too, and Bobby McCain made a huge play and has been playing better, so things are looking up.

The Ravens have been decimated by injuries, hit even harder than our own Dolphins team, which has seen it’s share for sure.  Joe Flacco has struggled this season, with only 5 TD’s and 8 INT’s.  Son’s boy Breshad Perriman and Mike Wallace are the wideouts, Ben Watson is the TE, and the ravens feature a RB by committee approach, with a combo of Javorius Allen, Alex Collins and Terrance West.  Allen is their leading receiver with 31 receptions, and also has the most carries with 82 for 301 yards and 1 TD.  Terrell Suggs still leads the defense, in his hybrid role of LB and pass rushing DE.  The Ravens are allowing 21.1 PPG while our Dolphins defense 18,7 PPG.  On offense, the Ravens are averaging 18.6 while the Dolphins a paltry 15.3.

It was another fantastic FEST, and I hope that more of you guys and girls can attend the next one.  It’s a great time to be had, and I actually miss all of you who partied with us last week.  If you can find a way to make it, I can assure you won’t regret it!  Dilly Dilly!

The Ravens are coming off a tough loss to the Vikings, 26-14, but those pesky Ravens seem to always give us a tough time.  Last season, the Ravens spanked us 38-6. In 2015, we eeked out a 15-13 win.  In 2010, 2013 and 2014, The Ravens beat us and almost all of those games severely hurt our playoff chances.  No other way to put it, but I freaking HATE the Ravens!  Besides our division rivals, there is no other NFL team I hate more, so I hope Matt Moore brings his “A” game, and the defense does as well!

MIAMI 23 – BALTIMORE 16

  1. You take last night’s loss and you put it in the river and let it flow to the ocean and forget about it. The team hit a wall and that’s all there is to it. Should have known it was going to happen sooner or later. What was the “stat” someone showed? They’ve traveled more in the first 7 weeks than 22 other teams will travel the entire season?
Embarrassing loss, yes, but this is the closest thing they’ll have to a bye week and let’s see what happens after they get some extra time off to get some rest and get back on track.
This loss wasn’t about Gase, it wasn’t about Pouncey or Steen or Tunsil, Cutler, Moore or the defense being overrated. It’s about a team that has been through a lot the first 6 weeks of the season hitting a wall and just not having enough to get it done in another game.
The Jets game was the important one to win and they pulled together and shot their load in the second half and got the win. Keep up in the division. Ravens game wasn’t as important.
The defense is for real. This isn’t about someone figuring out our D and now it’s going to be shot to shit the remainder of the season; it’s about nothing other than just not having the energy to go any longer.

LOL Kong – I read that before and thought WTF is this guy saying. Cracked me up too, because one of the first thing he says is you can’t believe anything Suh says. How bout we can’t believe anything you write, ASSHAT!

  3. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That loss really took the wind out of my sails. Hopefully it was just them hitting a wall and they’ll get a few extra days to regroup and fix some of their issues. The offense is so frustrating to watch. You can’t keep putting the defense out there with no support. It’s going to catch up with them both physically and mentally.

Just like in the first Jets game, I saw a Ravens team with more intensity and life than we had and I was like oh shit I’m seeing it again already.

Gase has got to find a way to get the offense going and scoring some points.

  4. Gase actually said that if the team wins a game without doing the things he emphasizes then “I’m an asshole” and he says “yeah, three shutouts but you don’t have to listen to me”.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Still the third youngest coach in the league…think he is figuring out that being relatable is a good thing, but only to a degree.

      • what he’s also finding out is that a bunch of entitled man children can make his life miserable if they don’t want to listen to him and make it look like he’s the one who isn’t doing his job.
that’s why talent is so important especially relating to depth. you have some players who think they’re too good to be benched and maybe they are because there’s nobody to replace them. A coach is slitting his own throat if he does. But, if there is some adequate depth you cut out the cancer and those other players don’t have the leverage anymore.
this has been a problem with this team for quite awhile.

  5. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

we’re still 4-3, funny thing about the nfl, when a team comes off a win they get lackadaisical, on the other hand a team that is coming off losses is more focused, add that to the fact that we lost our starting QB and we’re playing that team in their stadium.
I expect a more competitive game against Oakland due to the fact that we are coming off an embarrassing loss we get our QB back and we’re playing at home.

  6. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

If I’m Gase and these players aren’t doing what i emphasize i get players in there that will do what i emphasize, players are responsible for execution, coaches are responsible for performance, as a coach how do you expect to keep your job if your players are not executing?

    • unfortunately, they don’t have the depth on the offensive side they’d like to be able to do that. Unlike cb where they were able to let Maxwell go they don’t have the level of talent to pull one guy in favor of another. however, Gase did say he’d do it and “the fans may not like it but ……..”

  7. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

would be real nice to get Parker back as well, it would seem Landry cannot get separation on deep patterns and stills is a flat out PUSSY!

  8. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Currently under construction in Davie (Bear Bryant not included).

  9. D's avatar D says:

Gase interview was sad but pretty uplifting at the same time. Gase is seriously pissed. He says players, and he specifically called out the RB’s and Ajayi in general as people who dont seem to know their jobs on plays. He said OL to him didi seem as bad in that way, though he didnt really say they did a great job of performing either. He called out their best players multiple times, so im not sure if Landry is also being included or maybe even Stills and Thomas as well. He did key on RB’s though.

He basically said he is has been nursing this problem for 2 years and he is tried of accommodating these players game after game, and having the worst offense in football. He indicated he would start playing the players that were prepared and if they were not prepared they wouldn’t play regardless of them being the best players, and regardless of it pissing off the fans if he benched them.

He called out his coaches for not preparing the players better. He also said he would hate to be anybody but him this week because he is pissed and the players better get their heads straight or he would be dealing with them.

Very strong and direct presser. He also did indicated he had been accomodating the players by simplifying the play book so they could “get it”, but that it hasnt been working and he was done doing that.

Strong presser, and it changes my opinon of the game plan and play calls, since it sounds more like he has been doing it out of necessity instead of really just wanting it to be like that. He pretty much said what i had said earlier though, its time to stop babying them and make them be men, and if they cant rise to the occasion, get some guys that can.

He also said he felt the defense has been pretty good and despite that 40 points, didn’t feel like they played bad. Sounds like Steen will be out a while, and Allen. He expects Larsen to practice right off, but doesnt know if he will be ready to play right away, and he said that TJ he felt like might have to get into football conditin but should be ready to play immediately. He called out Michael Thomas for being a really good student, and always know what his job was, and praised him for both being a good professional as well as a good player. Seems to really like him.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah and everything he said is what we’re seeing. More message type moves are coming. Not necessarily cuts, but benchings or less workload for some guys. Something has to change. It’s not fun as a fan knowing what we’re going to run and also know the result will be bad. You can see it a mile away. If we can see it the opposing defense can.

Why do you say that about Stills? He’s a pretty feisty guy who also looks to block.
    ______________________________________________________
if you can find the tape on the TD throw from Matt Moore last night he led Stills perfectly, Stills saw the Safety coming over and pulled up on his route watching the ball sail by, he was afraid of getting hit vs laying it out for the team, if we score there it’s a different game. that’s why i refer to him as a pussy, he’s getting paid he needs to go get the ball

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

He’s a deer in headlights, he’s scared and will always react that way, as far as im concerned he’s useless. you cant play scared football.

does ajayi play scared? does Landry play scared? he needs to play like them or go find another trade

Okay didn’t notice but he has played well in recent weeks and lead the team in receiving last night. I’m more worried about the offense as a whole compared to any one specific player.

Bri – DT’s like Brandon Williams always give Pouncey trouble. He’s a finesse blocker, but you put a 340LB guy in front of him, he’s useless. He can’t move guys like that, and he also can’t get downfield to block either.
    *
I know, but the OL really hasn’t looked good the entire season.

  18. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Wyo – I can’t figure it out either. We always look like a bunch of pansies against the Ravens, and they look like a bunch of bullies. It doesn’t seem to matter who the players are or who the HC is, same shit year after year.

  19. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    UK

Not good enough for me man. Maybe a guy like Asiata has to play, a guy with a lil nasty, and maybe he runs over some of those LB’s and they remember that. It’s not like he could give up any more pressure or sacks, right? I want US to be the physical team, but time and time again we come up way short there.

  20. I think Gase is stuck between a rock and a hard place with these guys and also the reason I don’t think Philbin was as bad a coach as some make him out to be.
If you listen to his presser, he’s got problems with not just one player like he did with Maxwell, he’s got issues with several. They know they can make his life miserable and these guys look to be starters on the team. If he sits these guys in favor of someone else because they refuse to do their jobs then he’s going to have to answer for when the team is losing and there’s starters sitting.
This isn’t anything new in Miami. This has been going on for quite some time and Pouncey is one of the leaders in this area.

    • And, despite comments to the contrary, this is one of the biggest reasons it’s dangerous for this team to PAY Jarvis Landry. Better to cut the cord now and get something for him than pay him big money in Miami. Once the big money is handed out it’s all over.

  21. Jarvis knows he’s “Juice” and if the team is dumb enough to pay him he becomes one of the problem children. Only reason he’s playing hard right now is because he’s all about the money. Once Miami gives it to him you won’t see the same player because Jarvis is ALL about Jarvis.

  30. If the Phins can trade Pouncey before the deadline for a pick I’d do it ASAP. He’s going to be cut anyway but at least try and get something from a team needing o-line help that is stupid enough to want him.

Yeah, that’s a shame. Randy said right away he’s a big time “leaner”, meaning he gets his head out over his body and then is easily knocked off balance. Gotta bend those knees and keep your weight balanced, not out front of you. He was a 5th RD pick, so I think we all got caught up in our interest in him, rather than his quality of play.

Alonso was already in launch motion to hold off. He could have hit Flacco much worse.

  64. #Dolphins are expected to move on from Ndamukong Suh after this season, CBS Sports reports.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Don’t believe everything you read, no way they move on unless they trade him and get huge draft compensation, even though i think he’s a great player they may have a hard time trading him due to his salary.

    • LaCanfora reporting Miami brass has had it with him after choking Mallet, I guess. But, I agree. They’re not able to cut him due to his $22M dead cap in ’18 or even his $13 dead cap in ’19. However, I didn’t like the signing to begin with because we spent way too much money on him and limited our ability to get things done in other areas. Was a bad, bad contract. Turrible.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i disagree, there is a cap floor, suh is probably the best dl in the game. they may restructure his contract. everyone’s trying to fix this team when they lose, every team loses at one point, only one prevails and they have lost also sometime during the season. if you want to fix this team you may want to focus on the other side of the ball.

      • Disagree all you want. The contract put us in cap hell & one player isn’t worth that kind of money. Suh has been a good player for us but not so good that he alone makes that much of a difference.
Signing him to that contract was mistake #1. Pushing it further down the road was mistake #2. Everyone is all pissed about the play of the offensive line but you can’t sign help if you ain’t got the money to do it.

  65. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Hopefully PSU doesn’t drop that far. ND has:
Sat., Nov. 4 vs. Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Ind.
Sat., Nov. 11 at Miami (Fla.), Miami Gardens, Fla
Sat., Nov. 18 vs. Navy, Notre Dame, Ind.
Sat., Nov. 25 at Stanford, Stanford, Calif.
2 tough road games but if they can run the table, no doubt they should be in the top 4 at end of the season.

  66. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

the play where he got flagged, the OL was continuing to harass Suh after the whistle, grabbing his jersey, Suh simply knocked his hand off his jersey and got flagged for that, BS.
    Ryan Mullett advanced on him

  67. I don’t really care one way or another about the penalty or choking Mallet. What I hated from day one was the contract that handcuffed the team and the restructuring of the contract which made it even more difficult to dispose of his contract until much later.
Unless they can find someone foolish enough to trade for him and eat his salary, he’s not going anywhere for at least 2 more years.

  68. If the Dolphins designate Suh as a post June 1st cut it takes his dead cap from $22M to $9.1M. So, if they’re okay with dead money of $17.6M between he and Max then they can do it.

  69. And now you also have to start wondering if Ross is going to be pleased with what Tannenbaum has done in Miami. He traded for Maxwell and he’s gong. Eating $8.5M in dead cap on that one. He went hard after Suh and signed him to that huge contract and now he may be gone. IF that happens, where does Tannenbaum stand in all of this?

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

not sure if you’re paying attention but the dolphins have went 14-9 in the regular season since the start of 2016 till current, I doubt that calls for any heads.

your reaction may be over the loss we just had, if we go on to have a good season that loss will be forgotten.

coming off a win, qb hurt, short week, on the road, ravens coming off losses with a home game and a host of other variables early in the year may have contributed to the loss.

if we lose by 40 or 1 it’s still a loss.

      just like a barber shop……NEXT!

      • The loss has nothing to do with it. I chalked the loss up to just not being able to go anymore with everything that’s happened, all of the travel and then the short week. I was being optimistic about it.
Then Gase came out and trashed players on the offensive side of the ball basically saying they were a bunch of underachievers. So, the coach came out and said the same thing about them I said over the past few weeks.
I’m not saying the season is over & I’m not saying Suh is a dirty player or a bad player. I’m just tired of this team making moves and signing the big name FA’s to huge contracts and it doesn’t help the team. Has Suh played well? Sure he has. But, if we drafted well we could be just as good on defense without him.
As far as the record is concerned the offense is averaging 13.1 pts per game. Yeah, we’re winning but it’s not sustainable with that kind of average. Everyone keeps throwing out that record like it proves the team is good and everything is fine but I look at it as though people are living in denial.

  70. There’s other teams in the league who have had a better defense than Miami since Suh was signed and they don’t have him on their team. Too many people put way too much emphasis on one player.

You make some valid points. I’ve said a number of times that I felt our 10 wins last year were because we played a lot of bad teams…and still barely beat a lot of them. Others feel 10 wins is 10 wins, and it doesn’t matter. An average team can win 10 games, but it doesn’t, necessarily, make them a good team. I’m a little confused because I thought you were all in on Gase and sang his praises last year. He has coaches snorting coke in their office…players disregarding what their position coach tells them to do….a RB room that, evidently, doesn’t care to work at their profession….an offense, his wheel house, that sucks ass on many levels. And yet….a head coach who comes out and points the finger at players. Players who already seem to question his leadership and rules. We’ll see how this plays out.
    ***
As to Suh, I am not smart enough to talk about contract shit, I know next to nothing and like it that way. What I do know is the value of a top tier DT in a defense….many have one. It can open up your whole defense if you have a guy constantly getting doubled…and tripled at times. No player is worth these outrageous contracts, but plenty of teams run their business that way. I’d take Suh over at least 2 or 3 other guys, so “worth it” is relative. He’s the best at what he does…or at the least top 2 or 3…those guys always get overpaid in this system. Still, the question of if you do it or not, is always a valid one. Some teams don’t, but most do. You can build a good team in several different ways. When Kiko was getting a cheap shot from the OL, Suh was on the guy like a bulldog. I’ll overpay THAT guy because he has extra value and is a true leader.

    • Maybe I wasn’t clear in my explanation but what I was saying is when you get a bunch of guys who are getting paid and are fan favorites they can make a coaches life miserable because, if there’s not depth, those players know they’ve got the coaches by the balls and the attitude could very well be “he ain’t gonna sit me because if we lose it’s his head”.
So, I think players can make or break a coach and they know it and they’ll use that power. Like Gase said, they win one game and they didn’t do the things he’s preaching in practice then “I’m an asshole”. But they get shutout two games and they don’t want to hear about it.
We get it all the time, “you aren’t the coach, you’re not a GM, you’re not a player. I think they know more about the game than you do”. How about players looking at a guy who’s never played a down of football at the college or pro level and thinking “this guy has never played the game and he’s going to tell me how to do my job?”
I can definitely see that happening because there’s a lot of egos involved.

  72. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Get rid of these “players” then. Philbin before him had seemingly the same problem.
Who’s speaking out against Gase? Gase is right. They win a game and blow smoke up each other’s asses and he’s now calling them out. He’s in charge and like he said…..Get on board or they’ll get rid of them. That’s the way it should be. Getting paid more money than any of us could dream of…..do your damn job.

  73. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    lou
Point is: that’s still on the head coach. We’re 2 years into this thing, he should have set the tone for not allowing that sort of crap long before this. That’s on him, regardless of why he’s allowing it to happen. Philbin was held accountable for what his players did or didn’t do. Gase does too. Players need to be accountable…so do head coaches. It doesn’t always work to call guys out.

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

True. Like you said, let’s see how it plays out.

There is the pressure of allowing these millionaires to have this behavior because you have to play them. Gase was a rookie last year and can’t imagine the pressures and egos he faced. He’s fed up. 2 years in same system and these guys don’t know what to do. It’s everyone’s fault and it has to get fixed and that has to start immediately

      • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

They don’t have the practice time anymore. Gase may have been 100% on saying these guys need to take it upon themselves to put in the extra work. Or is it only the PHINS can find the dumbest guys in the league. Lol

    • well, he did with Ajayi and then with Maxwell. But, yeah, maybe he let it go too far. Only thing we will have to see if he follows thru with his threat to bench guys who don’t want to “study” like they should in favor of the guys who do want to do the work.

  74. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    ElephantRider,
I kind of just wish he’d kept it in house. I always believe it’s 90% on the players. I’m just never a big fan of airing shit in the media. If you gotta go there as a head coach, it means you’ve failed already because the last thing you want to do to people you’re asking to follow you is embarrass them in public.

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

      Agreed.

Maybe he was at the end of his rope. I would have to think he’s said these things many times over last season and half. Maybe this is final straw since they apparently haven’t been listening. Just frustration boiled over after watching the tape. Tired of same mistakes.

We’ll see what happens Should hopefully be entertaining at least.

  75. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    ElephantRider,
Players tend to stick together against coaches. Plus, coaches are always spouting off about keeping things within the team. When they don’t do it….it comes off as hypocritical. I’m not saying he wasn’t right….just hope it works. Fans love it though. Lol

  84. There’s no doubt Suh is playing some of his best football this season but, again, his contract is a big part of the problem with the cap space on this team and there’s other teams that have defenses that are as good as or better than Suh and they’re not paying one player that kind of money.

So, Suh may be a popular player and it may make you feel good to have a “name” like him on the defensive side of the ball but when you’re team is handcuffed by a contract that’s making it difficult for them to sign help where it is needed elsewhere than you have to question whether or not the decision to sign him for that kind of money makes any sense.

And, this is not something I’ve waffled on because I didn’t want it to happen from day one. I don’t care that he’s playing as well as he is. If we did our job drafting and developing talent like we should we would be just fine without him. Again, how many teams don’t have him and have a defense as good as or better than ours.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I think you’re over playing the cap significance, at the beginning of training camp i believe we had 14 mil left over from the cap, cutler took 10 mil of that, if tabby doesn’t get hurt we are well under the cap, and the fact that he did and we were able to bring a vet in for 10 mil, i doubt this front office is worried about Suhs cap #

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

tanny, that B is too close to N

      • Take a look at other teams who are getting it done and still have cap space. Take a look at what they spend on players. They don’t need to spend a boatload of money on one guy to win games and we’ve got Suh and we still suck so where does having that one guy who’s getting paid all that money make that much of a difference.

Sure, if RT doesn’t get hurt we don’t spend the money on Cutler but we still didn’t have the cap space to sign help on the offensive line. We brought in Larsen and re-signed Bushrod and that’s it and Bushrod is a band aid.

The contract sucks now, sucked then and it was an idiotic move by an organization that doesn’t have it’s shit together. You can argue differently but what has this team done that says otherwise and don’t throw out that record because it means nothing.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

if we dont have to pay cutler we would be 7th in cap space out of 32 teams, we manage our cap better than most, we are always not only in the running but getting the top free agent every year it seems, thanks to dawn aponte.

  86. Personally, I think the owners should just fold the league and let these guys put their basket weaving degrees to use in the private sector.

The owners don’t need these crybabies to be successful. They had the money before they bought their franchises and they’ll be successful without the NFL

The players, on the other hand, will find it much more difficult to survive without being in the spotlight

  87. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

you are what your record says you are, i remember someone saying those words??

    • We could be 0-7 and you’d still hear, “yeah, but we’ve got the best D tackle in the league”.

13 ppg on offense isn’t sustainable. The defense has been playing well enough to get us the wins to this point but if we keep on this pace on offense the record will definitely say what we are

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

if your offense cant stay on the field, run the ball, eat clock and pick up 1st downs that puts a tremendous strain on your defense, considering our offensive woes i think our defense has held up pretty damn good.

I can tell you that our special teams has a lot of blame for our losses, this new punter is killing us with his 30 yard punts, he is costing us field position and that puts pressure on the D as well.
I may be able to bitch about a lot of things with this team but Suh and the defense is way down on that list

  88. Point is, we could have had money to sign help on the o-line in the offseason and we didn’t need to break the bank there either.

With the line being as ineffective as it is you can’t argue with that and plenty have said as much. Lots of people complaining about the play of the o-line but you can’t sign people if you don’t have the cap space.

So, which is it? Do you want cap space to sign some help in areas of need or do you want to spend a significant amount of that space on one player who isn’t going to win games all by himself because you can’t have both.

  89. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

our defense is not the problem, this team will be hungry against Oakland. we went 10-6 last year we’re 4-3, don’t try to fix it, it may not be broke

  90. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Why are we even talking about Suh today? Because the league’s leading jack@$$ reporter (Jason LaConfora) is still crappin’ on our Phins. His routine is old, pathetic, and dishonest.

JLC only serves to stir-up a muck sandwich in our Phin’s FO year after year after year; his credibility is SHOT. I honestly can’t believe he’s still employed by ANY network with his BS antics.

    • read Barry Jackson’s piece. It may not be that far-fetched. Jackson said he heard the same months ago from people within the organization. Whether it happens or not is yet to be seen because it won’t happen until February.

      • I can really care less about JLC to be honest with you. I hated the signing from day one. When Matthew Cannata of Phinsiders Radio had leaked it out on Twitter before the beginning of FA we were signing him I was livid because I knew it was going to be a huge contract.

Suh is dominant at his position but, as we saw on Thursday, even Suh can’t get it done by himself so there is no one player worth that kind of money. We sacrificed too much resources for one guy and handcuffed the team from being able to make moves elsewhere that would have helped this season.

Again, it’s kind of interesting how people will complain about how poorly the offense is playing but at the same time will defend the Suh contract. Can’t have it both ways. When you put that much cap into one player your team is going to suffer somewhere else.

  91. 31st in rushing yards and 30th in passing yds, last in league in scoring offense but the offensive line is set.
