Week 8 – Game 7 – Dolphins @ Ravens

Baltimore-Ravens-vs-Miami-Dolphins-NFL-Matchup-jpg_734882_ver1.0_1280_720

The Dolphins will have a short time to celebrate this week after an exciting come from behind victory at Hard Rock stadium in Miami.  QB Matt Moore led the comeback against the Jets down 28-14 after Jay Cutler was sacked and was later to be found to have multiple cracked ribs.  The Dolphins prevailed with Moore at the helm, winning the game 31-28 in the final minute of the game.  Fest games don’t get much better than that, although I have to admit, last year’s Buffalo comeback win 28-24 was pretty damn close!

NFL: New York Jets at Miami Dolphins

So Cutler is out, and now all of you who can’t stand Cutler get your wish.  I caution you though, be careful what you wish for!  No slight to Moore, but Jay Cutler was actually playing well in this game.  Yeah, detractors will point out the pass to Stills (Which was a completion BTW), or the tipped pass for an INT (It happens to every QB), or that we were down 28-14.  I don’t know any more than any of you who want Moore over Cutler, but I got a guy on my side who counts a lot more than you knuckleheads, and that’s HC Adam Gase.

I’ll say this, Moore looked very confident, very comfortable, and moved the team well.  There was a definite difference in the tempo, Moore ran things smoothly, as if he’s been here for years, well, because he has.  I liked what I saw, but I also remember the Matt Moore that makes a great throw one play, and the next tries to force one in there and it’s going the other way.  Matt Moore is a capable NFL QB, but is he sustainable?  I’m not sure if we’ll find that out, because I think he may only get a few games (3-4) before Cutler is healthy enough to play again, and at that point, I do hope it’s a difficult decision for Adam Gase to make, because that would mean Moore has been playing great.  If Moore struggles, there will be no question at all that Cutler will be the QB when healthy.

DolphinsJets_57

How about that D-E-F-E-N-S-E ?  Yeah, they struggled a bit against the Jets, but came up big at the end of the game, shutting down the Jets on their last 3 possessions, coming up with the HUGE Bobby McCain INT on the last of the 3 to enable the Dolphins to kick the game winning field goal.  Cam Wake now has 6 sacks in 6 games, which puts him on pace for 16 for the season, which would be a career high for Wake at age 35.  Isn’t that somethin’?  The defense has been getting contributions from a lot of players, the D-line, and I mean more than just Suh, including Phillips, Godchaux, Hayes, Taylor, Harris, Fede, and of course, the LB’s, Alonso, Timmons and even Maualuga.  Reshad Jones is back, and is exactly what we need back there in the secondary.  I can’t wait to see the tandem of Jones and McDonald in Week 9.  Nate Allen hasn’t been awful, but he’s a complete non-factor.  The two young CB’s have had their ups and downs, tank had a rough outing last week, but he’s going to have those.  I’m very pleased with the tandem of Tankersley and Howard.  Next year, hopefully Lippett is back too, and Bobby McCain made a huge play and has been playing better, so things are looking up.

The Ravens have been decimated by injuries, hit even harder than our own Dolphins team, which has seen it’s share for sure.  Joe Flacco has struggled this season, with only 5 TD’s and 8 INT’s.  Son’s boy Breshad Perriman and Mike Wallace are the wideouts, Ben Watson is the TE, and the ravens feature a RB by committee approach, with a combo of Javorius Allen, Alex Collins and Terrance West.  Allen is their leading receiver with 31 receptions, and also has the most carries with 82 for 301 yards and 1 TD.  Terrell Suggs still leads the defense, in his hybrid role of LB and pass rushing DE.  The Ravens are allowing 21.1 PPG while our Dolphins defense 18,7 PPG.  On offense, the Ravens are averaging 18.6 while the Dolphins a paltry 15.3.

It was another fantastic FEST, and I hope that more of you guys and girls can attend the next one.  It’s a great time to be had, and I actually miss all of you who partied with us last week.  If you can find a way to make it, I can assure you won’t regret it!  Dilly Dilly!

The Ravens are coming off a tough loss to the Vikings, 26-14, but those pesky Ravens seem to always give us a tough time.  Last season, the Ravens spanked us 38-6. In 2015, we eeked out a 15-13 win.  In 2010, 2013 and 2014, The Ravens beat us and almost all of those games severely hurt our playoff chances.  No other way to put it, but I freaking HATE the Ravens!  Besides our division rivals, there is no other NFL team I hate more, so I hope Matt Moore brings his “A” game, and the defense does as well!

With the moves today, the @MiamiDolphins have 51 players on the active roster. Remember, S T.J. McDonald will come off suspension next week.

  3. According to the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero, “Jarvis Landry is available for the right compensation. Not giving him away though,” while the Sun-Sentinel’s Omar Kelly warns people not to assume “the Dolphins and Jarvis Landry are happily married.” Kelly also notes that two teams calling for Landry “are in Miami’s division.”

True, the Cheats are needing another slot WR from Miami, Welkers wheels fell off.

So next draft Rnd 1 Pick 5, we use our new 4th

Okay so WTF did we do? We traded Ajayi for a 4th rd pick to the Eagles? Anything else?

I guess Ajayi was one of the guys Gase was talking about. Need some time to let this one set in.

  18. We did Ajayi a favor by sending him to a team that has a chance to win a Super Bowl this year. Boy, we really taught him a lesson.

  19. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Me hates seeing JA go to Philly but with our OL it doesnt matter who is back there carrying the rock. We have a terrible OL and 2 QB’s opposing teams do not fear especially with a hobbled Parker. The running game will continue to suffer the rest of this year with or without the J-train. I think he will start to fall off in 3 years max anyway with those knees. He has the bone on bone issue in both knees and was listed as questionable once or twice this year due to a knee issue. Good RB’s can be found anywhere in the draft so I am not concerned. We just need to draft the left side of ND’s OL and we will be good.

Yep — would be completely different if we thought we had a run in us other than being a surprise WC. Much as we all want the team to max out year…..sometimes have to think towards the future. And sometimes just trust in the coach trying to make that happen.

Same ‘ol same ‘ol Dolphins. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 15 out of the last 17 years, shame to be a Fins fan.

If things hold true to form, then predictions for the Oakland game are:
Pouncey goes down with his annual injury, and Parker reaggrevates his ankle.

  21. Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

If Shefter said there was “zero chance” of the fins trading Landry, only a fool bets the other side of that wager. Shefter is the most reliable reporter in the NFL when it comes to accuracy.

  22. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    FYI Jahn
I think Shefter didn’t say that until late today and the Dolphins did field offers
Actually Landry posted something on his Instagram account about where the road takes him today that had some Dolfans nervous

  23. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think a 1st round pick is what you demand for Landry. If you don’t get it – keep the player. What’s the point otherwise

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

the likelihood of getting a player better than Landry with a 2nd is pretty slim IMO

If you keep Landry for the rest of the year and he leaves in FA
you will probably get a 3rd round comp pick in ’19
and you get the rest of the year
and a shot to retain him

    • and now they will let him walk for a 3rd rd compensatory pick when they may have had someone offer them a 2nd. don’t bite off your nose to spite your face.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

You don’t know if they let him walk or re-sign him

not to mention the rest of the ’17 year, the ability to tag him and the ability to re-sign him before free agency begins

Letting him walk is a huge assumption
even if it happens – you still get the value of the rest of the season and the comp pick to come

settling on a 2nd rounder for a productive player is stupid IMO. Let good player splay out their contracts, re-sign them if they are worth the value and get the comp picks if you don’t.

If you want to replace the player – you don’t have to wait until you trade him….lol

      • again, he’s only productive in the Phins offense because of the number of short passes we throw. he’d never be as productive elsewhere, at least not on a good offense that throws a lot less short passes to it’s receivers because he won’t get the opportunities.

2nd, can you imagine them paying him northward of $15M on a franchise tag? that’s plain dumb.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

He productive with the Dolphins because he fights after he touches the ball on every play

  24. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Of course Landry is/was available for the right price. There is no player that isn’t, let’s be real.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

and the fact that he is a free agent at the end of this year probably caused rumors to swirl, especially once we traded Ajayi

but putting a 1st round number on his trade value shows how valuable he is perceived to be to the team

  25. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Well the way things have been going for this team this year it’s doubtful we were going far anyway. I guess the culture change is still a changin’. We shall see.

  26. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Only thing I can figure is they had words.
Maybe after Gase called him out.
Maybe before then. Or both. Ongoing.

Maybe Gase came into practice on Tuesday and said, “ok now, we suck running the ball, so this is how it’s gonna be” and Ajayi said, “BS; it’s not on me” right out in front of everybody, and so Gase said, “Walk, then.”

    Had to.

  27. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

There are no name RBs every year that make a splash. No big deal. Next…..

  28. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

No use in trading Landry for anything less than a 1st, unless he is a locker room cancer.
You ask for a first or maybe a second from SF or Cleveland.
And you rule out Bills and Pats.

Otherwise, it makes more business sense to use him this year and then let him walk in FA if you can’t match the offer. Especially with Parker always gimpy.

  29. Randy's avatar Randy says:

This should have been taken care of long ago. That’s my issue. Why was it allowed to go on so long….and does that mean it might still be going on with other players too? I don’t get it. It just looks bad. I am still willing to wait and see with Gase, as he learns to be a head coach, but all this stuff raises questions. We’ll see if this lights a fire under guys. I hope it does.

  30. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I think maybe Gase in 5 years has learned a way to handle Ajayi-types without letting it get to this point … if he lasts that long as a HC. Bellicheck learned that skill the hard way in Cleveland, so when the Bledsoe Brady thing went down he was ready.

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Gase did say the fan base wouldn’t like it. I can see the pressures of having to deal with all that stuff.

I hear what Randy is saying also. Gase is indeed learning on the job and only a sophomore himself.

I don’t think Larsen will be a big difference maker when he returns. He’s a pretty run of the mill guard. He’s probably better than his backups, but that’s not really saying much. Besides, Bushrod and Tunsil have both plagued poorly, and Pouncey has been inconsistent. A new LG probably won’t be the difference. We got issues, man. Lol

Gase is obviously very bright and a hard worker. I think that’s probably part of why he says he can’t tolerate others who aren’t. I think he has the potential…but none of that, necessarily, makes him a good head coach. I hope he succeeds. I’m pulling for him. It’s not an easy job.

Me and Mrs. OD spent several days at a convention in South Carolina. It was a successful trip for the company, for which we’re very thankful. Now, a few comments.
    1) Turned-off the 40-0 blowout loss at halftime. IN NO WAY did Gase have this team ready to play football. IN FACT, the Dolphins continue to open up most games this season by falling behind. This is an outstanding way to get fired, as Gase surely will if this trend continues.
    2) Miami’s O-Line is far worse than last season’s O-Line. Of all the words of woe, the worst of these – – – “I told you so!” The FO vastly under estimated Miami’s O-Line needs this past off season. Now they are paying the brutal price. I would not be surprised if Cutler and/or Moore go on the DL later this season b/c of taking a pounding!!
3)whomever takes Ajayi’s spot as starter will find ultra tough going. The price for NOT SUCCESSFULLY ADRESSING OUR O-Line woes will get higher.
    4) VERY DISAPPOINTED Miami had to jettison one of the best backs in Dolphin history!!–Better coaching MIGHT, I say MIGHT, have found a way to make better use of his amazing talents. But we don’t have “better coaching” at this point. NOT dumping on Gase exclusively. T-Baum and Ross must share much of the blame. I’m very disenchanted with the “Ross/T-Baum/Gase Approach” so far. Sure hope things get better!!
    ———————
Thanks to all of you who said kind things about me earlier today. You should all know that Brian paid for my ticket in the cheap seats, which I protested to no avail. WHAT a get together the Fest was!!! I’m afraid it will be the high point of the current season.

LUV all you guyz and galz out there!

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

OD — right with you on the line, but what can you do? Least can’t blame Ross for the player moves unlike when we grabbed the big ticket FA guys……but yeah seems on Gase at this point for now. And not sorry it is overall.

  38. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I remember quite clearly the turnaround that happened last season. I think it will be interesting to see if the “the turnaround” occurs again after the trade. I have a feeling we see much better play, and not just better than the 40-0 debacle against the Ravens, but better play from the word GO. Can’t say it will be exactly like last year, but I think the team will perform well Sunday against Da Raiders.

  39. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

For a HC, handling people issues is as important as handling x’s and o’s.
Here’s hoping Gase’s intense attention to developing his football knowledge and his rapid rise have not conspired to make him less of a people person than he needs to be. He’s still very young.

But he absolutely cannot let the players tell him what plays to call and balk at doing any part of teamwork they don’t want to do. I thought it was a bit scary when he said he was doing that last year, but it was hard not to enjoy the success we were having after suffering for so many years.

I mean you can let veterans at QB like Peyton or say Aaron Rodgers suggest things based on what they see on the field and their vast experience, but still they need to run the game plan.

RBs should be more blue collar factory workers filling a repetitious role and hardly thinking at all, other than running with vision and faking people out.

Just go fast. Hit the hole. Block your man in blitz and pass pro. That’s it for a RB.

  40. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,
It’s gotta last a lot longer than 1 game though. You can’t cut or trade players every time you need to motivate them! Lol

  41. D's avatar D says:

Piggy i cant remeber exactly what it was, but Schefter reported something and thenhad to retract it later, an a bunch of other reporters that had piled on, re-tweeting him had to also recant and then they made a big deal about him doing it, even though not only did they do the same thing, they didnt even scoop the story. I know another of his more unethical things was violating JPP’s medical privacy by scooping the story first regarding him losing the fingers.

Again, these were just two things, but the guy is usually one of the best at getting the scoop on stories first and being accurate with regards to what he is reporting, ie he seems to fact check first, most of the time.

  42. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Piggy,
If we somehow find a way to get into the playoffs with this offense, i’ll be shocked, but i’d like to see more of an improvement than just a one and done playoff team.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Without our starting QB and with all our other injuries this year I will take one and done in the playoffs and consider that as grounds for Gase to be coach of the year

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I just want to see it play out

I’m not going to give Gase a cape for making the postseason last year and I’m not going to say the team is in disarray either

If we finish with somewhere between 8-10 wins I think it was a successful season, playoffs or not

and we are 4-3 now…and ugly 4-3 but 4-3 nonetheless

  43. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,
That would be awesome! I’ll take 6-2. I’m not greedy. Lol

  44. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Ken,
Good point, but i’d still like to see some improvement there. Our offense has been just putrid. If we keep playing like this and still somehow get into the playoffs, how is that a positive?

  45. D's avatar D says:

I think we will do better with a straight north south runner that grinds out 3+ yards a carry than we were with Ajayi doing what he was doing. I don’t know that i feel out team jumps forward after losing Ajayi, just because we get a guy who will do that, i definitely don’t think it will hurt us as bad as a lot here do. I think Drake is capable of homeruns, i think though he wont be as physical as Ajayi (most RBs arent) but i think Smith is a guy who can. After i really put effort into watching some of his tape when we made him part of our UDFA pickups, i saw a player who can give us the commitment to running a straight dive through the correct spot, and can give us some better blocking on our passing downs. I dont think he ever averages more than 3-4 yards per carry but i think he might give us quality downs every time. I think Drake is the guy that will help us make screens work, a guy who will make outside runs work, and even get loose on some inside plays. Id tandem these two, and ride the rest of the season with them splitting carry’s pretty evenly, and id probably use Williams to a lesser extent than he has been but mix him in for more pure receiving roles.

  46. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

This seems like a last straw type thing. Not that it wasn’t ever addressed but maybe didn’t resonate with Ajayi. It just sucks that it didn’t work out. I didn’t see this move coming though.

    • D's avatar D says:

I didnt think he would be traded, but i knew he was in the dog house pretty badly. It definitely seems like a “im done”, which is literally word for word what Gase said at the presser. I think maybe they met after, and i think they might have talked about it and then it was decided afterwards, fixing it wasnt in the cards. It does suck that it didnt work out but thats not the life we live, shit doesnt always work out and you just have to move on sometimes.

  47. D's avatar D says:

I know its not our team but to me the Benjamin trade seemed more out there than our trade of Ajayi.

  48. D's avatar D says:

Thats craziness there with the Browns thing. I read at least one report that said they were celebrating the trade and forgot to contact the league, and then by the time they realized they hadnt completed the obligations they were a little past the cut-off and the league wouldnt budge on it. LOL. Thats pretty crazy if true.

    • D's avatar D says:

They were going to give up a 2nd and third rounder in 2018 for it. If i was Cleveland fans id be glad a fuck it didnt go through. Thats ridiculous value for a never tested 5th round guy, who has serious arrogance issue. I dont care how much trade capitol you have or how ad your QB situation is, you arent getting out of “suck” no matter who you put back there. Ride this shit show out again, and trade up (if you even have to) and get a fucking QB instead of passing on them.

He had three stops in run defense and forced the ball carrier away from the intended point of attack on other occasions, but his teammates weren’t always able to make the stops to result in successful defensive plays. The three starting linebackers missed a combined seven tackles on the night.

S MICHAEL THOMAS, 90.6 OVERALL GRADE
Thomas saw the most action of his season by playing 49 of 65 defensive snaps. He entered the game having played just 26 defensive snaps on the entire season. He was targeted just twice all game, with one coming on the Ravens’ two-point conversion attempt. Thomas broke up both passes, and also made a stop in run defense.

So I guess Drake is the starter or do we go committee?

    • D's avatar D says:

the only true blockign back/grinder we have is Smith, who is on out PS. I wouldnt be surprised if we didnt bring him up and tandem he with Drake. I dont really know what Perry is like as a blocker though so it might be that he would be good enough in this role too, if so Smith would stay on the PS. I dont think Damien Williams will move up as far as running snaps though and i believe he was kind of in the dog house along with Ajayi for not knowing which blockers to pick up on passing downs.

  58. D's avatar D says:

I dont think Davis was good or bad. I dont want to disagree and say the score should have been lower, but it should be. He looked as you would expect a guy who hasnt been getting the majority of snaps to look like when finally being asked to take center stage. I definitely think there is something there to consider when we get to the off season and decide what we do with Bushrod or even if Bushrod might decide to really call it quits this time.

I bet some on Dolphins Twitter have gone from blaming Cutler to blaming the OL to blaming Ajayi in a span of 5 days

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I saw Matt Moore at least twice reposition Ajayi with 4-5 seconds left on the play clock as he was lined up wrong or shifted wrong. I also remember at least one blown running play where the back obviously went to the wrong side of the QB. i also saw both Damien and Ajayi miss blocks in pass pro that left free runners at the QB, not to mention Damien falling down untouched on a perfectly set up screen pass (for once) which would have scored a TD (probably).

I have said on several occasions that part of our inability to run screens is on the RB for either his route not being behind his blockers or not being in a lane conducive to making a clean catch. Haven’t we all seen our QBs forced to throw the ball into the dirt on screens?

I think Gase has said several times that the QBs are to blame sometimes … that they can’t make the passes they want to make.

BIG GAME for FAU alums Friday Night at Schnellenberger Field in Boca Raton. The top 2 teams in C-USA’s Eastern Division meet in a nationally televised game. Fins fans should carefully watch stud running back Devin “Motor” Singletary, whio has already broken most of Alfred Morris’s rushing records at FAU. Thde “Motor” ran for 244 yards and 4 touchdowns last weekend as FAU came from behind to beat Western Kentucky 42-28, scoring 22 points in the decisive 4th quarter. This “Motor” would look GREAT in a Dolphins’ uniform! The game is Friday Night on CBS Sports Network!!

At first I read it as an oblique remark about liberals or something along those lines. But it couldn’t have been because he’s always saying not to talk politics. Must be a nuance from a previous conversation. It’s a mystery.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I thought it was a shot at the PC crowd at first, but I believe it goes deeper than that, and I don’t remember what he’s referring to.

  72. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Let’s just say this. If things turn around in a positive way I’ll be shocked because what we’ve seen from this offense is hard to imagine that happening.

  73. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I still feel terrible that we do not have Ajayi on our team any more. Makes me kinda nauseous.

  75. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I think Senorise Perry ran hard in preseason with little to no dancing … just charging straight ahead.

  76. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Williams is pretty poor at pass protection, we haven’t seen enough of Drake to know what he can do. Ajayi must have really been a poor character behind the scenes for this to happen.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I forgot who wrote the article, but it mentioned Ajayi complained in the locker room after a victory that he didn’t get enough carries, complained on the sidelines he wasn’t be used enough, and I’m sure, he was told by coaches to knock it off, yet he kept bitching. I can see how that could get to be too much, especially when he didn’t follow a play right, blew an assignment and didn’t follow the script. You can wear out your welcome like that.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Dropping passes and running poor flat routes as well. He never got his body facing the ball inside, always turned away from the defender to try and catch it. It doesn’t work that way.

He has talent, but maybe just can’t conform to a way of doing things.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah he must be more of a pain in the ass than how he comes off publicly.

Drake has talent but we haven’t seen a big body of work. Now’s the time to take a look. Williams is not an every down back and I doubt Perry is either. We’ll see how they play it.

  77. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I am actually excited to see Drake get more touches. He has a great burst

  78. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Let’s face it , we failed to run well against 3 teams that were playing very poor run D before we got to them … the first jest game, in London, and in Baltimore.

I think we got out-coached in London and against the Ravens as they seemed to have seen tape on Ajayi’s favorite 4 plays that he was making Gase call and stuffed those.

From other sites i have read, it seems Ajayi would try to run those 4 plays anyway, even if they were not the play that was called. He would improvise but the OL was blocking the play that was called. That is why so many of our running plays looked like a bunch of big guys standing in a disorganized bunch with Ajayi dancing behind the cluster and then colliding with about 10-12 guys from both teams.

  79. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s funny, I really liked Ajayi too, but whether it’s my internal defense mechanisms kicking in, or something else, I’m like alright, NEXT!!!!

  80. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

As sick as I feel about this, imagine how sick Gase must feel right about now.

  81. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I just have to wonder if Ajayi was all these things, why Gase didn’t have him sitting on the bench for any significant time this season. Something doesn’t add up for me. All water under the bridge though. The fact is, our offense couldn’t be worse than it has been to this point with him, lol.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The article mentioned that he constantly complained to the assistant coaches, but NEVER went to Gase himself. I would imagine Gase had words with him after that, and maybe that’s how we got to where we’re at

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yeah, it just doesn’t add up. The coaches never mentioned it to Gase? Suddenly they did, and he’s traded. Or they did mention it to Gase, but he never addressed it?

No matter how you slice it, if Ajayi was running stuff wrong all this time, complaining, and being a poor professional, why did he never get taken off the field or how did this not get communicated the the HC?

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

As I said though, it’s all a done deal. I don’t have to know everything. I’m more curious than anything else.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think it was simply hoping it would change. Gase believes in his system because he’s seen it work. When guys go off script it changes down and distance and how he calls plays. Like he said, 2-3 yards on 1st down is better than -3 because he tried to stretch a play that wasn’t there because it wasn’t blocked that way.

  82. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I notice that our close relationship with Philly allowed us to move Ajayi that fast. Without Rosey being on speed dial with Tannenbaum, i doubt that deal gets done before the deadline.

  83. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    I mean c’mon. Shit happens.
Bellicheck let Blount go TWICE. Even after he scored 18 TDs one year or something like that.
    Can’t have a big-mouth smart-ass back-talking the coaches.

  84. Now all of a sudden Jay Ajayi is a piece of shit back. Okay

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Why do you make stuff up? Show me one comment where someone said that?

We’re all discussing the why and you come in with comments that nobody said. Ajayi is talented and I loved the guy, but he had flaws in his game and we’re all looking for reasons why we sent him packing. They didn’t do it because everything was peachy keen.

Lou, what is your quest here?

  85. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Now that Ajayi is no longer on the Dolphins, he’s a piece of shit back. There . . . I fixed it!

    • And now that he’s on a contender he’s got a better chance of winning it all than any player on the Phins.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Good for him Lou, I really don’t give a fuck what he does now, he’s gone. Keep crying about it if it makes you feel better, although again, as per usghe, you’re just stirring shit up. Whateva – Not like I expect any better from you

      • People talk out of both sides of their mouths. Gase is to blame for how bad the offense is because of his poor play calling. Gase needs to accept responsibility for how bad the offense is too because he’s the one calling the plays.

Gase needs to accept responsibility for it getting this bad with players because it’s been going on this long and he’s done nothing to address it.

Now, Ajayi is gone and it’s because he had a tiff with the coaches over how much he was getting the ball. Give me a frickin break. We’re 7 games into the season and a guy who’s out there running hard when he gets the ball and has a chance to do something with it is getting upset because the offensive line isn’t getting the job done I don’t have a problem with it. ALL running backs want the ball. ALL wide receivers want the ball. We’ve heard it a lot in the past that the best players want the ball when the game is on the line and Ajayi was no different

This team is just one fuggin dumpster fire after another. We get rid of one guy and THIS is going to make a huge difference. Gase ripped the offense for not getting it done. It’s a huge GROUP of underachievers; not just one guy. So, we trade one guy who disagreed with the coaches over how much he got the ball and now Gase has fixed everything. Bullshit.

    • I know it’s easy for a Phins fan to be butthurt over this situation but you gotta let it go. Ajayi was a good running back for us and nobody can deny he was still running hard for us this season.

Another example of a wasted talent because we had a shit offensive line that couldn’t block for him. And, if the offensive line wasn’t happy with criticism from the back they were supposed to be blocking for and didn’t block on purpose it only shows they are unprofessional and should be shown the door as well.

  86. Said it when Wentz was drafted. He’ll win a Super Bowl with Philly before Tannehill ever sniffs one.

  87. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    LMAO!!!!

  88. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I am okay with this move. Ajayi is a talent and he will be missed. However I totally respect Gase holding guys accountable even if they are a star or not. I think this is the kind of stuff you need to do to change the culture. So far Gase is 14-9, I will continue to trust in him even if he starts Jay Cutler

  96. Offensive line isn’t running blocking, offensive line isn’t pass blocking, Gase’s play calling has been shit, wide receivers are dropping passes all over the field but the coach blames it on the starting running back.

But I’m the one who lacks credibility.
