Week 11 – Game 10 – Bucs @ Dolphins

92bucs-dolphins-story

Forget the matchups, forget who’s playing where, forget how many PPG we have or they have, forget about all of that.  I’m not wasting my time researching that crap when this team does one thing consistently, underdeliver. NO ONE on this team is living up to the back of his football card (You can all debate that if you like)  What this team needs to do, and I don’t care how Gase has to get them to do it, is come out, and smack some team in the mouth.  As soon as they get on the field, impose their will, and show that team this is not going to be their day.  Not once this season has this team beat up on anyone.  We haven’t enjoyed one victory where it was a clear cut win where we were firing on all cylinders.  Instead we’ve had to endure at least 2-3 quarters of WTF! football almost every game.

Sunday we host a team playing as poorly as us.  I know the ANY GIVEN SUNDAY deal, but it’s time for this team to show a sign of life, and kick someone’s teeth in!  We have been beaten down and shut out and embarrassed and undressed and tied to motorboats and have the fishes eat at us, but ENOUGH!  Time for this team to give us a game where they kick ass from start to finish, a good old fashioned ass kicking BLOWOUT!

I’m not going to post the usual slogans on the bottom, GO DOLPHINS!  Zero in!  I think they  take that too literally, and they’re trying so hard to get zero.

The touchdown to Fasano called back becomes a FG and safety we got screeed on is 6 real points. Then they took away the long catch to Landry in the first half that would have led to points.

    Fitting end

  64. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Why are we committing so many pre snap penalties?

  65. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Not sure why we stopped bringing pressure on their final drive. They couldn’t handle it before…why not keep doing it instead of letting them off the hook? Fucking sucks.

  66. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I didn’t get to watch most of this game, and I guess I’m glad I missed it. 17 penalties? We really need to get that shit fixed. The 4 TO’s were bad as well, it;s just not winning football. I guess I can see us losing out, or something close to that.

  67. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Oh by the way Wake was held probably 3-4 times once again and no calls. If you ever wanted to see a rigged game, it was this one. The NFL is losing me.

  68. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

We are wasting so much talent and at the same time, we do so many stupid things, maybe we just don’t have any talent. Landry does great and also fumbles. Parker looks great and also has a terrible drop that gives them an INT. Stills has a great TD and a hold that negates a first down.

  69. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Tim:
We didn’t lose because of the refs. They didn’t help but that’s not why we lost

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Totally disagree. They nullified 9 points and called many phantom calls. I see this shit in other games where I have no rooting interest and I saw it today. I’m really close to being done with this league. It’s out of control.

  70. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That was a safety and we win. We got screwed all day.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

No we would still lose by a point

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Agree should have been a safety….but then they missed an easy FG too.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s a performance mistake, not a BS call by the refs. The holding call on Bushrod on McCoy on a 49 yard gain to Landry was also a BS call. Why because he stopped McCoy in his tracks? I’m fucking sick of this shit.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Call was wrong….can’t agree more on that. But we will never know what would have happened if it was called right. They were driving pretty strong at the end after all.

  71. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

We still have a chance if we can win 5 out of the next 6 games.

    Pppppffffftttttttt, LOL, LOL, LOL

  72. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Least they made it interesting in the 2nd half……good football game to watch. But yeah you guys worried about draft position can worry about that more now.

    • rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

It’s not like this team gives us anything else to hope for.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

They did make the playoffs last year…..even if thought that was real lucky. But had to come off with a better game experience versus the Panthers. Least I did.

    • rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

We are talking about this season aren’t we? …since you were referring to the 2018 draft, not 2017.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I was talking about today’s game. Weren’t yo interested in the 2nd half?

      • rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

To tell you the truth, no. I said it at halftime, win or lose today this is not a very good football team.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

That’s up to you my friend. And I did not think a good football team before the game started. Did think the 2nd half more interesting to watch though. But we are all fans in our ways. I was at least curious as to whether or not it would go to OT….but that just me.

    • rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

Yes we are in our own way. Maybe I’m just tired of the NFL. I’ve been a Dolphins fan since 1984, haven’t missed a game on TV since 1994, including seeing 6 games live. …3 games in Miami and 3 games at the meadowlands. I just enjoy college football more now, including the draft.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

And that goes to we all choose what to watch on our own. Clearly you have been following the team strong though and props to you for that. Been a fan for a while as well, but you just might find that coming to a Fest is about more than just football. Just a great group of folks…..and not like they don’t play in South Florida. Heck — being a Phin Phan is part of why I live here now…..and that has nothing to do with the team, just that coming here each year showed me a great place to live.

  73. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

We committed enough legit penalties to lose on our own but agree with Tim add in all the BS calls and there was no way we could overcome , even if we had they obviously would have screwed us over , as they did

  74. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

If we don’t run the ball 23 times we lose.

I know that if the running game isn’t working you have to resort to the pass.
why isn’t the running game working that is the question??
If gase can fix the running game we can win again if not we lose.

    very simple

  75. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

A medical situation prevented me and my wife from going to this game. Perhaps it was for the best because my poor suffering wife says “watching this game made me even sicker!!!!”
    ————————
DID we hear right? –18 penalties for well over 100 yards?????
—-I guess Tim is right when he tells us the FO is getting it right and getting us the “right kind of players.” Seems to me on several plays this appropriately named “OFFENSIVE LINE” is only capable of holding, illegal procedure, jumping offsides or forgetting the snap count. And that’s NOT counting nearly getting Cutler killed or not blocking on that key 4th and 1 play. WHAT A PUTRID PERFORMANCE by the worst O-Line in the NFL!!! After the end of summer camp, Gase assured us that “the O-Line is just fine the way it is, including back-up players.” Well, Adam, what do you have to say now??
    ———————-
A co-worker of mine who actually went to the game said that at NO TIME was a majority of the seats in Hard Head actually occupied. By the time the Dolphins rallied in the 4th quarter, almost two-thirds of the seats were empty.

But, yeah, the owner is fine, the FO is fine, the team is fine and we’ve got the right players.

    SURE WE DO.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

And we just lost at home by 10 points to the franchise that has the worst over all record in the history of the National Football League.

      Where’s my Colorado Kool-Aid??

      • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

BUCS franchise cumulative record is 256-405-1, the worst in NFL history for any franchise still playing in the league per Wikipedia.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Sorry about you not being able to make the game. Least the game was whole lot better in the 2nd half than the first…..enjoyed watching it. Even if not the ending.

  76. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Yes, the 4 TO’s in the first half cost us a bunch, but I agree with Tim. You take away those BS calls against our O and D, we score at least 10 points more and them maybe 3 less.

    • BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

12 more if you throw in the non safety call

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Thanks for noticing and making me feel I’m not crazy. That officiating crew should be fired. It was one of the worst bias officiated games I’ve ever seen.

Go back to my early posts when I saw it happening when there was plenty of game left. It never stopped. This game was pure BS by the officials.

  77. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

As I posted earlier, I hope our draft goes something like this:

Round 1 Pick 16: Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame (B-)
    Round 2 Pick 16: Will Clapp, C/OG, LSU (A-)
Round 3 Pick 16: Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina (A)
Round 4 Pick 16: Uchenna Nwosu, OLB, Southern California (A)
Round 4 Pick 32: Riley Ferguson, QB, Memphis (B-)
Round 6 Pick 16: Jerry Tillery, DT, Notre Dame (A)
Round 7 Pick 10: Levi Wallace, CB, Alabama (A-)
Round 7 Pick 16: Akrum Wadley, RB, Iowa (A-)

Maybe add another OL in the 7th instead of a RB.

  78. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Man on man we beat the Bucs physically today. Yes mistakes and turnovers hurt us but we overcame them and were the better team. Fuck you officials! Now I know why Bat and FFR are no longer here. The stripes rule the day. That’s not a sport.

  79. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

What pissed me off today the most was all the false start penalties. Some things you can’t control….that the coaches can.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yes, and I do realize we had to shuffle a bunch of different guys in, but I heard Tunsil called for one, and at this point of the season, it shouldn’t be him. I’m more than willing to let Pouncey go next season, and I realize that creates another hole, but I think we can fill it. We may have 4 different guys starting on our o-line, and from what I’ve seen this season, I’m fine with that.

      • D's avatar D says:

Pouncey was solid today. The really big play by Williams early was because he opened a truck sized hole sealing off that side of their front 7

      • D's avatar D says:

Tunsil had a false start, even though he got called for two, that hurt us. That last one was him being called for something the who OL did. When that happens it’s usually crowd noise that causes it, especially in the endzpne areas of the field like we were. I kind of wish there were no end zone sections because if you have ever played in stadiums where there isn’t one you know it’s a lot easier to hear the snap count.

      • rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

        Agreed.

      • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

Mike; You, me, Jahndoh, MF-13 and several others expressed deep concerns regarding the offensive line during summer camp. This is NOT an “I told you so” moment. Rather, it’s a “Many, many NFL observers saw this coming. Why didn’t the FO see this coming??” moment. Blunders and mis-judgments of this magnitude call for some sweeping changes in our FO and scouting departments.

My guess? –Ross does NOTHING, or, he puts even worse replacements in for next season.

  80. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

D – Problem with Pouncey is is his time seems to be limited. I worry about him with his hips, and when he decides he can’t go anymore, and I can see it happening during a season too. I’d rather trade him if we could before that happens.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Did I stutter? Yeah, I did. lol

    • D's avatar D says:

I’m worried too, I’d definitely draft an OC this year but I’d hold on to him at least one more year to give that guy a chance to acclimate and Tanny a year with the new guy too to get chemistry. Pouncey us probably going to want to retire soon anyways so no need to rush it

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I get that, but he counts $9M+ against the cap next season. You make a good argument, and it might be the right move to keep him, but I’m willing to take the chance that we can adequately replace him.

    • D's avatar D says:

No way we trade him though.

  81. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Did I say fuck you officials yet? Just incase I didn’t… fuck you officials!!!!! Can you be more obvious in rigging an outcome? No you can’t. Sorry I’m getting really close to being done with the NFL. I said to my wife in the 1st half, I’m not one to call out officiating as the reason other than a BS call here and there. But today I might blow the shed up. LOL

  82. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

And screw the Pouncey talk or whether James comes back…..that will be what it will be. What we need are two starting guards.

  83. D's avatar D says:

BBMike I’d like to either draft Clapp, who could start at LG until he takes over at OC or Bozeman at Alabama. There might be some better rated guys but I’d put my money on interior OL players developed by saban specifically his OCs. Every Alabama does at least running relies on really good OC play. Clapp is the better player but my fallback for him is Bozeman.

I’d also shoot for Nelson for an OG, if I just wanted a pure start right off LG, someone I saw as a long term LG for us. My draft strategy though hinges large on the Landry situation, where we are drafting and if we can get a trade back partner in the first.

  84. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

This game could have been Bucs/Lions and though I’d have no emotional attachment, I would still be saying WTF is going on? It’s enough to deal with your football team struggling, but to then have shit taken away like… uhhhh… yeah… we’re just gonna call it this way. I no longer know what I’m watching. The game itself across the league with the exception of a few teams playing really well, is at an all time low. Why do I watch this crap?!!!!!

  85. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The OL was not a big problem today. We made big plays all day except for the 2-3 called back just because.

Is it in the rule book that Wake is allowed to be held? I don’t know, I haven’t read it lately.

  86. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    D

Do you think there wouldn’t be takers for Pouncey, or do you think we just wouldn’t trade him?

    • D's avatar D says:

I don’t think we would trade him.

    • rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

I know this wasn’t directed at me, but I’m figuring if we know he’s on his last leg so does the rest of the league. I’m guessing if we were to find a trade partner , it would be right before the trade deadline for a short term fix due to an injury. Even then, we are probably talking a day 3 pick.

  87. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We didn’t lose because of Pouncey. LOL

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

We have to remake the team Tim, that’s not the point. It’s how we go about that going forward that will determine where we are next year. I just don’t want him in the picture. I think his hips are going to screw us at some point, and I’d rather not be on the hook for it.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I hear ya, he looks about 75% of his former self. His game is athleticism and football IQ. You lose the athlete and you have a shell of his former self. But we didn’t lose because of him or the OL today.

  88. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

You know what else? The Patriots just keep on winning too . . .

  89. D's avatar D says:

Mike we only save 7 if we cut Pouncey. We would not get an OC capable of replacing him next year for 7. We will be ok cap wise after some restructures which I promise you are on the way, because they are better for the team and the players to do them. Tanny is a prime candidate. Restructure should be seen as pay cut, most the time.e they aren’t. It’s just moving the contract terms arund to get the cap hits moved around and usually to get them to do it the team sweetens the pot by giving them more guarantees than they had left. There isn’t a need to get cut happy because you will wind up weakening the team more doing that if it’s not the right time. He may retire and if so that’s your best bet for what you want because it would mean we get all 9 back and he would be gone, but I’m telling you, that’s not going to be best for the team. We need him at least for one more season

  90. D's avatar D says:

Mike you draft a guy for sure, but ya need Pouncey for a transition year. If his hips don’t hold, that guy we picked who at least has a little exposure to the NFK, our team, and some time with Tanny takes over. It might be sooner than expected but it’s better than throwing the guy to the wolves and also before he and Tanny get a chance to get at least closer to on the same page. QB OC chemistry is big

  91. D's avatar D says:

Thomas needs to go. I saw him standing around watching plays on at least two occasions. Play wasn’t over and he had his hands on his hips watching it before it was over. He’s apathetic to go on top of ineffective. He just isn’t the same player and not the guy we were hoping he would be reunited with Gase

    • D's avatar D says:

Dunno what happened with him but he has lost more than just his athleticism and you can see it every play almost. Routes are sloppy, he rubs really clunky. He is still a nice target to throw to but he us a liability to throw to

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah despite a few key 1st downs, he does look like a guy on the decline. His body may be letting him down. The skinny on him has always been injuries, nothing serious but various ones every season. It happens. Yet he’s been healthy all year for us. Maybe it’s taken its toll. I doubt he’s back in 2018 at his salary.

      • rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

        Totally agree on your assessment.

I agree. I’ve been calling for him to go since early Oct. We need to get one of those young TEs in the draft. …Hurst, Andrews, Gesicki, or Fumagalli.

      • D's avatar D says:

I like Hurst best. He is the best balanced TE skill set of all, though I like the other guys you just mentioned too. Breneman too. Lots of balanced TEs this coming year. No really great move TEs but we aren’t really looking for those I don’t think

  92. D's avatar D says:

Pouncey is absolutely not 100%, personally or put him at about 90%, because he is still playing well and his 90% is better than a lots 110%. I wouldn’t be surprised if by neaxt year this time he was close to 80% it’s not going to get better from here on out, so yeah we got to get ready but for continuity reasons and having a chance to at least evaluate who we draft before being in a very bad situation if they aren’t hitting the ground running, we gotta be smart and keeping Pouncey one more season is the smartest move

  93. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Couple of things from this game: Cutler sucks and our D cannot generate. a turnover to save its life

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The impact plays from the D are just not there. Agreed. We’re like room temp milk on defense. It’s not horrible, but you wouldn’t order it. LOL

    • D's avatar D says:

That one interception for sure was a horrible throw, one he should have known better not to throw. When he let go of it I knew it was going to turn out bad. The first one, that wasn’t on him, wasn’t a treat throw but it shouldn’t have been an interesting and would have been if not for the interference. The last one was on Parker.

I think it was similar jeckyl Hyde game for him, but the receivers dropped a few that should have been caught. He should have run on a couple plays instead of throwing dangerous passes. He’s aggravating to watch because you get so many ups and downs in excitement.

We also aren’t getting much pressure from the egdes these days, second game in a row Wake has been pretty ineffective. Harris had some success bet we really need Wake to wake up

  94. Ken's avatar Ken says:

As bad as the refs were I cannot blame them for this loss. 17 penalties and 4 turnovers. That’s on us and no one but us

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Half of the penalties were on the refs.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

No the vast majority were pre snap penalties that we brought on our selves. The 2 calls that bothered me were the roughing call on Alonzo and the safety. Other than they were just calls I disagree with. Happens in every game to every team

      • D's avatar D says:

This is true, but I want you to go back and look at the PI no call. That shit was egregious. Trip part might have been seen as incidental but the shove after surely shouldn’t have been missed

      • rgs322's avatar rgs322 says:

That safety non call was really bad.

  95. Ken's avatar Ken says:

If we won this game I would have felt dirty. I am a lawyer so I just would have taken a shower and been okay but we had no business being in this based on how sloppy we played

    • D's avatar D says:

That shows you we physically beat them, but we lost big time in the discipline department

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

We did but that is only one aspect of the game. We don’t play complimentary football. We don’t play a complete game.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Far as I am concerned we were the better team on field. We were -4 in turnovers in the first half. But then also accepted how bad they were. Won the 2nd half big though.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

But we lost. It doesn’t who is the better team. It matters who wins. I don’t take solace in our playing them. I get what you are saying but it doesn’t make me feel any less like the Hulk

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I just don’t get as much caught up in the wins or loss. Many a time told a guy he had a good match even if he lost. And I have walked into matches knowing would lose from the start. Dude that rocked my world senior year in high school cause he transferred in ended up 4th in the country. Least after it was over he said, “you do some real great stuff on the mat”…..but then he could take me down when we were on our feet at will, and he knew he would win from the start.

D, I have done a mock with Bozeman who I think might be there in the later rounds but still be a good NFL center. He is solid. We definitely need 2 good OL in this draft and a good TE. That is why I like my latest firstpick draft.

Landry is my biggest ? going into next year. Will he be with us? If not, I really want Anthony Miller. He is going to make someone a really good slot receiver in the NFL.

  97. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I can almost live with aggressive, physical penalties, but we constantly make ugly, unforced, undisciplined penalties. That starts from the top. We have been an undisciplined team the past two seasons. It’s unacceptable because it is completely unnecessary. That’s why you practice. Yeah, we got screwed on some calls today, but that’s football. It doesn’t change the fact that we played very undisciplined today…just unacceptable. You can’t do anything about bad calls. You CAN do something about undisciplined play. What a bad loss. Jesus.

  98. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I get it, we’re 4-6 and not very good. I just don’t want to see the stripes control the game anymore. It’s been going on way too long. The game is hard to play, to take away big plays because of a nudge is tiresome and ruins the sport of competition. It’s not fun. How many good games do you see, maybe 25%?

  99. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Know FF stories are not interesting — but even as am worried about going 0-5 against the Tobas with a team am proud of — am about to lock a bye week in another cause of three picks that wasn’t even really thinking about at the time. FF is a screwy beast (these are rounds 13-15 in a twelve team league).
