It doesn’t really matter who we are playing, when in reality, we’re just playing against ourselves. Mistakes, penalties, miscommunications, all of the above, is what we’ve been seeing the entire season. We can blame a lot of extenuating circumstances on these problems, Tannehill going down before the season, Lippett going down before the season, Raekwon going down just as the season began, the hurricane postponing our first home game, and rendering us “BYE-less”, Cutler not having enough time to get in sync after “retiring”, but despite all those negative things, it’s on the Head Coach, Adam Gase, to have his team prepared, right from the start of the season, right out of the gate. Well, that’s something young Mr. Gase has a helluva lot of work to do on my fellow Dolphins fans and friends. Last year, through 5 games, we were 1-4 scoring 14.2 points per game. This year we were worse, scoring 12.2 points per game, but miraculously, managed a 3-2 record. Yes, I’m only looking at a small sliver of each season, but every “quarter” of the season counts, and Gase hasn’t managed to get our team off to a good start yet.
Just for comparison, the Indianapolis Colts desperate for a QB after starter Andrew Luck wasn’t responding to treatment and was therefore unable to play, traded for Patriots backup QB Jacoby Brissett on September 2nd, and Brissett came in relief for QB Scott Tolzien in Game 1, and never looked back, keeping the starting job for the rest of the season, and managed to score 97 points in the first 5 games for a 19.4 point average. How is it the Colts can muster a full TD per game better than our team, when Jay Cutler already was familiar with the offense, and had better talent around him on offense? I understand no comparison is perfect, but Adam Gase hasn’t gotten the preparation job done well enough to start the season. He’s learning, this is only his 2nd year as a Head Coach, but I hope he looks long and hard at that, as well as the team in general being extremely undisciplined and sloppy the entire season. We’re averaging 8.5 penalties for 72.7 yards per game, 128 penalties in 15 games for 1090 yards. Not to get OD any more riled up than he already is, but Don Shula had the Dolphins for decades as one of the least penalized teams. To be fair, Shula was also head of the officiating committee for the NFL, which undoubtedly paid dividends in that regard.
More disturbing things. Getting blown out in games. Losing 20-6 to the Jets (Last second TD made it 6 for us), and then 20-0 against the Saints, which in essence has us losing 40-0 save for a last second garbage time TD to Devante Parker A.K.A. The Invisible Man. 40-0 to the Ravens, 45-21 to the Panthers. No question Gase has work to do, and I hope he studies these games where our team looked like it didn’t belong on the same field with our opponent. It wasn’t always necessarily from start to finish in a game, but there were breakdowns that snowballed to eventually take us completely out of contention. Gase is the Head Coach, and he must get a handle on these things. Every team has a bad game, but we have had multiple bad games this season. The Cleveland Browns for instance, have had 1 game this season of a 20 point or more loss, a 31-7 loss to the Bengals. For all intents and purposes, we had 4.
I didn’t write this to tear up Adam Gase, but the truth is, he deserves criticism, and I have hope he will be able to correct these shortcomings. Getting the O-line corrected has to be a high priority, and adding a dangerous pass catching TE should be as well. We’ll also need to add another RB to our stable to go along with Kenyan Drake and possibly Damien Williams. Beyond that, there a few places where an upgrade of depth would be welcome, such as the D-line, specifically DE, where we’re a little long in the tooth, and maybe an upgrade at LB as well. I would like it if we draft a young QB to groom, and compete for a job, but it doesn’t have to be in RD 1or RD2, especially at the expense of a top OL and TE.
If the FO can do their job well, then the pressure to succeed will surely be on Head Coach Adam Gase’s shoulders, because the excuses are evaporating quickly. Assuming Ryan Tannehill is healthy, and is able to get back close to the way he was playing before his injury, and the O-line is fixed, and we added some better depth at other positions, there’s no good reason for us to get off to a poor start like we have the past 2 seasons. Gase will likely have some tough work to do to choose his staff, unless he decides he wants to stand pat with the staff, which I honestly hope isn’t the case.
I know this article just looks like a negative piece on our head Coach, but it’s essentially just a notice that I’m holding the man accountable. Besides our record, there are some disturbing things like player development. Leonte Carroo III for example. Why make such an effort to acquire a player, and not find even the smallest opportunity to see what he can do. I’d play Carroo instead of Parker, and I’d give Grant a lot more touches instead of Stills. We know what Stills can do, I’d like to see more of Grant. I know some will say Carroo doesn’t practice well or whatever, well find the right freaking buttons to press and GET HIM TO PRACTICE WELL! We made a big investment, find a way to motivate the kid. Grant is a little playmaker, get him more touches. He has 13 to date, 3 rushes, 10 receptions, LET HIM PLAY! Carroo? 7 receptions for 69 yards. Last year, Carroo had 3 receptions for 29 yards and 1 TD. So in 2 seasons, Carroo has 10 receptions for 98 yards and 1 TD. It sure seemed like they really wanted this kid, squandering multiple picks to get him, and this is what we get to show for it? FIX THAT!
The 2018 offseason will be a huge one for both the front office of GM Chris Grier, Executive VP of Football Operations Mike Tannenbaum, and Head Coach Adam Gase. 10-6 in ’16 was nice, but 6-10 or 7-9 in ’17 not so much. Gase will get a pass this season from owner Steve Ross due to losing starting QB Ryan Tannehill just before the season. He gets some leeway from me as well, but I still find the discipline, or lack thereof, excessive penalties, blowout losses and lack of player development problematic, so if Adam Gase has a list of areas in need of improvement, I hope those are on the list, and somewhere near the top.

Frigid temps again in NJ, about 17 degrees, and the snow is falling now, and of course, immediately sticking to the ground. We didn’t have a white Christmas, but it looks like we’re going to have a white New Year
Of course Randy and Toba are saying that’s summer weather, everything is relative.
Page turn! Woo hoo! I’m so excited! Eh, I think it’s overrated.
“D”–GREAT to see U on the Board! You & Mike E definitely are right. This franchise needs at least ONE (or more) of those “ectomy” surgeries, and SOON!!
It would be nice if, one day, this team could just let guys walk because they are so good at what they do, kind of like Pittsburgh, and not skip a beat.
Unfortunately, they aren’t there yet and maybe they will never get to that point. It would be nice to have a coaching staff and organization that’s so good at what they do that they could just plug in any number of guys into the offense or defense and not have to worry about losing talent because they don’t want to pay the money.
story being reported by one of the Phins beat writers that the team has contacted USF with questions about Flowers.
we need to get really good at drafting and developing talent and we need to have a strong organizational structure, including the coaching staff from top to bottom. develop our coaches too so we have guys who can move up into positions when needed rather than trying to fill in the holes with guys from somewhere else.
but, like OD, I’m not so sure that’s something that can happen with Ross and Tannenbaum holding the reigns and I really don’t have a tremendous amount of faith in Grier. To me he seems more like a “yes man” than a guy who is a strong GM.

we need to get really good at drafting and developing talent
——————-
That is kind of like saying if you want to be a brain surgeon you need to be good in science
I am not trying to start a fight Lou just poking a little fun at you stating the obvious
I realize I’m stating the obvious but the thing that’s so frustrating is that it is that obvious but, for some reason, it doesn’t seem like the team has a clue as how to approach the situation.
How long has Grier been with the team and you look at all the failed draft picks of the past and now HE’s the GM? Boggles the mind how bad some organizations can be.
No, it’s like saying we need to have the guys within the organization who are good at evaluating the talent coming out of college and then have the coaching staff who can get the job done when it comes to developing that talent.
We need to get to the level a team like Pittsburgh is at and I know it’s easy to say that but if we’re going to be competitive on a consistent basis that’s the blueprint right there. You can say NE is even a better blueprint but I’ll take Pittsburgh because they’ve been doing it a lot longer.
If it was easy to have that every team would have that and the Cleveland Browns wouldn’t exist. Fwiw I am no fan of Tannenbaum and agree with you in regards to Grier and him
shit. they could hire a couple of guys from this blog and this team would get it’s shit together a lot faster. these guys are supposed to have “football minds” but it’s hard to believe these are the best that is out there and there’s nobody else who can do it better.
we take guys like Burke and promote him to DC after serving as LB coach for one year under Joseph. We have a guy coaching the d-line who’s not been getting it done but we’ll probably keep him for another year. We keep bringing in Coyle’s guys when we got rid of him because he couldn’t get the job done.
They never learn.
I saw the tweet from Michael Thomas saying thank you to the fans, the Dolphins organization, and his teammates. I know he was put on IR. Did they waive/injured him? Is he saying goodbye?
Oh, never mind, he’s an UFA next season. I wonder if he thinks the Dolphins won’t re-sign him
Lou
Grier wasn’t making the picks though before last season. You can’t blame him for others failures. We had a manager at my place that let things get out of hand in the last few years, and wasn’t staying on top of things, and now he’s gone. That would be like blaming the new manager because he was here when that happened. Maybe Grier wanted all these great players, but he didn’t have the say in the matter. There’s really no way to know any of this, but just because Grier was here doesn’t make him incompetent.
he was the assistant director of college scouting and when you think about it that probably doesn’t even qualify him to be GM. what’s the old saying? a person will be promoted to their highest level of incompetency.
why is Grier the GM? Probably shouldn’t be.
Where do you think GM’s come from? He’s been in this organization for a long time, and has moved up the ladder. Do you think there’s a GM tree growing somewhere? lol
well, the Browns hired a guy who WAS a GM. so did the Giants. can you imagine that?
Nicely done, Mike. Also, I got your message and thanks for getting me back on.
Since most of us are in agreement with needing to upgrade the OL and TE, we need to start thinking about what the Dolphins will do. I think if Quenton Nelson is there, he would be hard to pass up even though he is a pure OG. If he’s gone, I think they may look for versatile linemen. …Players like Billy Price-OG/C, Frank Ragnow-OG/C, or Isaiah Wynn-OG/C/OT. This would give them a player who can play OG and then possibly move to center in a year or two.
As for TE, we are lucky that there’s good depth in this draft. There are several prospects with good size that can both catch and block. As long as we don’t wait till day 3, we should be able to get a good player. I’m with M13, Dallas Goedert is a player to watch. Also, I’m liking Dalton Schultz from Stanford.
Thanks rgs – Glad you’re back on!
Lou
Grier also spent time in the Patriots organization, so maybe some magic dust rubbed off on him.
like Forrester’s magic dust?
LOL – Supposedly he’s doing better, maybe we’ll hire him back
lol. wouldn’t surprise me. and Turner as his assistant
Lou
Where did the first NFL GM’s come from? Hiring a GM that was actually a GM before, hmmm. Doesn’t that mean they got fired from their last job? Team hire Head Coaches that were Head Coach before, and so many times, that doesn’t work out either. There’s no perfect science to it, you just have to find competent people. That being said, I’m not sure we’ve done that, but guys that move up the ladder sometimes ascend to GM, I’m pretty sure the Dolphins are not unique in that regard.
Now if Grier can somehow tie up T-Bomb during the 3 days of the draft and stash him in a closet somewhere, he’d be an even better GM.
we probably aren’t unique. that’s for sure
We had a fucked up season. I don’t think we’re in such a void of talent. As for Grier being GM, all GM’s have to start somewhere at some point. I also don’t think he’s done a bad job. To me 2018 will have to be a good season or things will start to look like same old same old.
2 new offensive guards, a new center and possibly a right tackle. one defensive end and two linebackers. a wide receiver, a new offensive line coach and a new defensive line coach. and a new defensive coordinator.
I don’t think we need two LBs, McMillan will be back. At least one stud guard. RT depth possibly. WR not a priority unless Landry walks. DE depth yes because of Wake’s age, and Fede and Hayes are UFAs. We do need young talent at TE.
As for the coaches, maybe OL because we had to hire a guy midseason because of Foerster. So DeGuglielmo may or may not be the guy they want moving forward. I’m not down on Burke and Williams helped get three rookies ready to play significant snaps on the DL.
wr should be a priority because even if Landry is signed Parker hasn’t proven he can handle full time duties and we can’t rely on anything else we’ve got in the pipeline.
two new guards are a must and even a center because there’s no guarantee that Pouncey is going to continue to play and not miss time. we can’t take a chance he’s going to stay healthy and we also can’t just pencil in a guy at one guard spot despite Davis playing well in the last few games.
we take too much for granted when it comes to players and it’s probably one of the reasons why this team went backwards this season.
as far as Williams is concerned he’s not gotten it done during the time he’s been here and it’s time to move on and try and get someone who can take that group to the next level. there’s way too much talent on that line for it to underachieve like it’s been doing.
and a partridge in a pear tree……………………..
Gettleman is clearing house in NY. Meanwhile, in Miami
Not sure why you keep using the Giants as an example. Different situation.
because we need to clean house as well.
Your opinion and it’s not happening. I also don’t agree with it. But we all have opinions. I don’t think this team is in the same state that you do. We had an off year. It happens. Whenever that happens fans always want to fire everyone and start over. Not a good remedy. This team is going through a transition phase, not a rebuild.
yes, my opinion doesn’t count. well, we’ll see. I give it two more seasons and we’ll be lighting the dynamite again.
“we had an off year”. lol. love it. we have a lot of those “off” years.
Having an off year would mean we’ve been having some success leading up to this year. We haven’t had that success so I wouldn’t say this is an off year as much as I would say this is the norm.
I’m so glad to learn we just had an off year. Whew! I thought we were having another year just like every other year we’ve had going back the last 15 or so years. Thank God.
Right we didn’t go 10-6 and make the playoffs last year and this season everything just went as smooth as you could ask for. Do you just go by what’s in your mind and not based on reality? LOL
reality? what reality do you see? how is going 10-6 one year, being surrounded by a bunch of mediocre seasons even close to being consistent and then you’re going to say THIS was the off year? Last year was the off year. lol

well, the Browns hired a guy who WAS a GM. so did the Giants. can you imagine that?
On another day you would argue that both teams hired failed retreads from other teams
how exactly are they failed retreads?
the funny thing is they were fired despite the teams they were with being fairly successful during their tenure with their respective teams. why? because those teams have higher standards. we keep people around because we rationalize things and have much lower standards; instead of getting the people who know how to do their jobs.
Lou, geez man what’s with the “my opinion” doesn’t count stuff over and over? Do you have any say in the Dolphins org? No!!! None of us do. But making changes every friggin time a season doesn’t go right is not the answer. We been down the fire everyone scenario many times before and how how has that worked out? You have to give a regime a few seasons to prove themselves.
Tannenbaum has been around for long enough time to prove himself. So has Grier. He wasn’t only the GM for the past 2 seasons but he was also assistant director of college scouting which puts him right at the forefront of finding the talent the team needs and he failed miserably at his job.
EPIC FAIL
During Dorsey’s time with KC the team went 11-5, 9-7, 11-5 and 12-4 and they let him go. When Gettleman was with Carolina they went 12-4, 7-8-1, 15-1 losing in the SB and 6-10 and he was fired.
But, we suck and we’re supposed to give the guys who get us to suck time to figure it out. Hilarious!! lol
Never mind Lou, I see you’re on your the sky has fallen mantra and nothing anyone else says matters so enjoy the offseason. LOL
tim,
there’s issues. the team is going either 7-9 or 6-10 and not admitting there’s issues doesn’t mean they are magically going to disappear. Yeah, you or I don’t have a say in anything but just sitting there saying stuff like “it’s an off year” doesn’t excuse the fact that this team is STILL a dumpster fire.
Who said we don’t have some issues and things to fix?
Lou you just argued up the page that teams should promote from within and develop their coaches Etc that’s what Gase has done. He’s only been a head coach for two years. it’s hard to promote from within and develop in only two years but he is following the blueprint that you laid out. They have also done the same with Greer. People complain about him not really having control but then turn around and complain that he doesn’t have the experience. He is gaining the knowledge and experience now and I am sure that if we see some success and he gets to keep his job he will get more power that’s how these things work
right, I did. when you’ve got that kind of organizational structure but this team doesn’t have it. big deal Grier came from the Pats where his dad was said to have been a guru. during his time there while his dad was doing his job Grier could have been playing his PSP instead of paying attention.
look at the failed drafts we’ve had from poor evaluations from poor scouting and who was a major part of that? Right. Grier.
I think Grier’s drafts have been good. So now it’s not Ireland or Hickey (who I think was solid), it was all on a scout who was part of the dept. Does it ever end? LOL
So let’s say we cleaned house, how many seasons does that regime get, two? Sounds like it to me.
whatever it takes. got to send a message that you do your job or you’re gone. you got that type of standards with other teams. why is it good enough for them and not for this team. I think guys come into Miami and get complacent because this team will keep them around forever before letting them go.
Lou, that’s simply not true. You could argue Ireland was here too long but you have to look at circumstances. There was an ownership change while he was here and Ross didn’t want to change everything from the get go. Since his time as owner we’re on our 3rd HC and 3rd GM. Ross has been the majority owner since 2009 and he didn’t really get involved until after the 2010 season after Parcells left and that whole Harbaugh fiasco. So within 7 years we changed HCs twice and GM’s twice. How is that sticking around forever?
this will be Tannenbaum’s 3rd year and the team has done shit during his tenure. Time for him to go. This is Grier’s 2nd year.
Other teams wouldn’t tolerate the kind of results these two guys have produced but this team just let’s them go and continue to take this team down the path of mediocrity. Get rid of them!!
Another QB I would look at in the later rounds is Ryan Finley (from the current QB university).
Are you rgs?
Yes, had to change account.
Thank goodness for Woody Woodpecker. LOL
Yea, I have used the same avatar ever since we all picked cartoon characters based on the state of the FO. It’s been a while.
Just never got around to changing it. I have around 6 others I could use.
Other QBs I would look at for mid round draft picks would be Riley Ferguson, Benkert and Logan Woodside. I am not high on Luke Falk, I don’t think he has an NFL caliber arm. I had wished Thorson was coming out but he is not. If healthy he will go very high next year
Okay, so who do you think won’t be back in 2018? Not marginal players but some of the guys who were either starters, significant role players, IR and UFA players. I’m gonna go with a hunch leaving the door open for some.
Not back.
Offense:
OG Bushrod
OG/C Steen
OT James
TE Thomas
TE Fasano
QB Cutler
QB Moore
Not back.
Defense:
LB Misi
LB Timmons
LB Hull
S N. Allen
DB Thomas
CB Verner
Not back.
Special Teams:
P Haack
I think Hull will stay for ST’s, and unfortunately, I think Julius Thomas hangs around 1 more season, but I will scream if he’s our #1 TE.
Thomas was the biggest waste of money this year. If he comes back, perhaps the people running this team aren’t as smart as we all hope they are.
You might be on to something with that . . . I’d be happy to hear him on the cut list. He’s so far from special, I’d rather see Gray as the #2TE than have Thomas, who can’t block, and isn’t really a threat after the catch at all.
i like Gray and agree on keeping him.
I think Chase Allen has surpassed Hull in both roles as MLB and he also plays STs. We probably look to add another LB with more upside than Hull in both roles.
At one point I thought J. Thomas could be back too but not now at his salary. Up and down season and finished on IR. The TE position needs to be revamped lead by youth. We could add another stopgap vet for a year during that transition at a cheap rate, but I could see us doubling down at TE in the draft – one early and one late. Gray has a pretty defined role as a FB/H-back/TE and he’s pretty good at it.
I remember in the very few instances Gray was used last season as a receiver, he looked pretty good.
Yeah he was on the end of a beautiful RT escape from pressure and throw across his body down the field for 50+ yards in 2016. 🙂
http://www.miamidolphins.com/multimedia/videos/Tannehill-Hits-Gray-For-53-Yard-Reception/6b4c0997-4be5-44db-85d0-afb6b173570a
I’m hoping we draft 2 TEs. Either rounds 2 & 4 or 2 & 6.
The way I see it, you could have brought in almost any TE and gotten the same production as Thomas this year. …2.5 catches/24 yards a game.
Draft Fumagali at TE in round 2. That’s my man crush
Getting ready for the 2 big games later today. Both games should be good. Also, watching the Memphis game now, which is pretty good.
Pouncey starts his 16th game this year but does anyone think he’ll play the entire game? 😉
Not back.
Offense:
OG/C Steen ————Would keep for depth?
OT James ————-I think he will be signed
Not back.
Defense:
Agree with the whole list!
Not back.
Special Teams:
P Haack ————why ? He seems to be OK
It’s going to be hard to RE_DO the whole Oline!
Steen and James have durability issues. Steen looks to be a serviceable player with not much upside and James would be on the hook for $9.3+M. It may scare some people but it may pan out – Davis and Smith compete for the RT spot. Maybe someone else in the mix or Young as a fallback backup. Larsen would be a better backup G/C than Steen. Maybe Brendel hangs around. We need to target upgrades at guard. Asiata stepping up would be as M13 says… grand! 🙂
Haack has had some real clunker punts and I could see us bringing in competition and him losing the battle. I know Rizzi likes him so we’ll see. I had to pick someone on STs. LOL
But like I said just a hunch.
I would keep James and draft his replacement!
But that means we have to draft 3 OL? That’s a lot of BEEF!
Tim:
I think they bring back James at OT. He was having a really good year up to the point where he got injured
He was up and down. I’d like to see him back, but he’s got a $9M salary next season. I don’t think he was as bad as some people here think he was though.
He’s not bad, but durability and up and down doesn’t scream $9M.
Ferguson hasn’t had a great game, but I can see why people are intrigued by him.
I’m beginning to like the trade down option!
Go for it T-Bomb
Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 18 (DET): Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame (A-)
Round 2 Pick 12: Roquan Smith, ILB, Georgia (A-)
Round 2 Pick 18 (DET): Mark Andrews, TE, Oklahoma (A-)
Round 3 Pick 12: Frank Ragnow, C/OG, Arkansas (A)
Round 3 Pick 18 (DET): Luke Falk, QB, Washington State (A)
Round 4 Pick 12: Quin Blanding, FS, Virginia (A+)
Round 4 Pick 31: Marcus Davenport, DE, Texas-San Antonio (A-)
Round 6 Pick 12: Dimitri Flowers, FB, Oklahoma (A+)
Round 7 Pick 5: Arrion Springs, CB, Oregon (A-)
Round 7 Pick 12: Andrew Nelson, OT, Penn State (B+)
If Quenton Nelson is gone, I like trying to trade down too.
And here is were I grew up!
Awesome!!!
If we drafted talents like a G Quenton Nelson 1st and TE Troy Fumagalli 2nd I would say cool let’s keep it going. 🙂
Mike E
It warmed up today…. it’s 3°
Frikkin locked in at -18 (yes F) for a week already and expected for 1 more week.. Wife questioning why we live here.. i tell her “that way we appreciate our Fl, and Caribbean holidays more”
Here’s the thing about re-signing Landry for me. Talented pass catcher and run after the catch guy, tough as nails, a spark plug for the pulse of the team, and super durable during his 4 year career at his 2nd round contract. That and he also set historic records for a WR with catches in his first 4 yeas despite knowing how we use him within 10 yards much of the time. To me he’s a part of the ball control offense with the ability to make a big play here and there. I don’t think you can let guys like him walk. There will be money available that was used on other players with minimal impact. Landry is more valuable than his YPCA. I don’t really care what we offer him, just bring him back.
DILLY DILLY !!!!
This could be our OL in 2018.
LT Tunsil
LG Nelson
C Pouncey
RG Asiata
RT Davis
Though some of the stuff I’ve read about Nelson as a prospect is he may go top 10.
A first round QB screws the whole draft flow!
Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 14 (WASH): Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming (B+)
Round 2 Pick 12: Martez Ivey, OT/OG, Florida (A-)
Round 2 Pick 14 (WASH): Roquan Smith, ILB, Georgia (A-)
Round 3 Pick 12: Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State (A)
Round 4 Pick 12: Uchenna Nwosu, OLB, Southern California (A-)
Round 4 Pick 31: Sean Welsh, C, Iowa (A-)
Round 6 Pick 12: Dimitri Flowers, FB, Oklahoma (A+)
Round 7 Pick 5: Damon Webb, SS, Ohio State (A-)
Round 7 Pick 12: Andrew Nelson, OT, Penn State (B+)
You know what, if a QB falls to us that we had at that spot on our board, take him. It’s okay, you can find good football players in other rounds at other positions. LOL
The easy reason to draft a QB in the 1st rd is, if Tannehill succeeds, the team is probably good and the young QB learns from it. If RT struggles with performance or injury, the young guy gets a chance to start a new era. This is a viable option at this time in 2018.
Go BPA!!! 😉
Tim that’s the problem
If you go strictly BPA none of these QB’s go in the first round?
Okay then don’t take one.
I really like this Hamilton kid from Penn St. I know WR isn’t high on our list right now, but he’s exactly the kind of high character guy that I like.
I also like Anthony Miller, but he’ll go too high for us. Two late round guys that are intriguing are Steve Ishmael-Syracuse and Cedric Wilson-Boise St.

Yea, very disappointed with Stanford falling to TCU 39-37.

Not a small group and some good athleticism here. I know I’m jumping the gun with Nelson and promoting Asiata. But that’s what we’re looking at. Add a top guy and hope another young guy can handle his role.
Davis to me earned his keep. He played every position on the OL except center this year and became a staple/starter wherever you needed him. The coaches feel he looks the part of a tackle. I see him replacing James at a much lower cost and not a big drop off in play if at all.
Asiata – there’s a reason he stayed on the 53 man all season even though he didn’t play. He needed better fundamentals and conditioning. But we didn’t want to expose him to the practice squad.
James will be back at OT
Maybe, 50/50, expensive non-impact player.
I disagree with that assessment. He was our best OL this year until he got hurt
Really need to take another look at the seniors on the Washington D. Speed
Veta?
Toba
My God man!! Lol. Jeez
TIM; IF ASIATA is deemed one of our best 5 O-Linemen and starts in 2018 WE ARE IN DEEP SHIT!!! – – The only line where Asiata has earned TOP 5 recognition is the cafeteria line!!
———————
ALSO, Pouncey is on the downside of his career. Yes he’s been durable THIS YEAR. But his performances and skill levels both are declining. His ALL-PRO days are over. And, as best as I recall, JAMES never was an All-Pro so you are right not to include him as a starter NEXT season. If James DOES START, that’s another bad indicator. Tannehill needs reliable protection in the pocket. And Drake and the rest of our RB’s need holes to run through. THAT’s why, IMHO, we need AT LEAST THREE new O-Linemen we can count on for 2018.
———————
FRANKLY, I don’t trust T-BOMB & GRIER to get the job done in our well below average O-Line. And I’d love nothing better than for them to PROVE ME WRONG! Last year’s selection of Asiata in round 5 WAS A TOTAL WASTE SO FAR!! No wonder Cutler, Moore and Tanny spent so much time on the injury list!!! Is “THE DOOFUS BRIGADE” going to let our QB’s get destroyed again in 2018??
PS: A cursory look at the bowl games reveals a significant number of O-Linemen will be available in the coming draft. LOTS OF THEM!! MF-13, and others, have listed over a dozen quality O-Line candidates for the Dolphins to select from. NO EXCUSES THIS YEAR!! Hopefully, we won’t trade away 3 draft picks to move-up and select a player who barely, if at all, plays for us.
Or is that asking too much?
For Manitoba:
That is funny as it will be in the 80’s here in SoCal for New Years 😎
Nice …. well played
wow guys we’re having a rare cold snap here with a high of 75 today.
As the say, “an arctic blast” is coming down on us, and the low is predicted to be 39 on Friday after midnight.
Naples i can send you an extra parka and touque
WTH are those ?
Woofy New Year to the Doggies from the Tobas
sheesh I don’t even know what a touque is (googling it now)
Lmao.
btw the NFL has us “officially” picking 12th right now.
By my rough estimate, we could go as low as 7th, high as 15th.

Professor’s Mock 2.0
1-Josh Rosen
2-Josh Allen
3-Baker Mayfield
4-Sam Darnold
4-Riley Ferguson
6-Lamar Jackson
7-Ryan Finley
7-Nick Fitzgerald
(after cutting Moore, not re-signing Cutler, and trading Tannehill to Pittsburgh for Pouncey to play Center and Landry for Julio Jones)

close except Woodside isn’t on the list and I don’t like Finley because he’s a Tannehill clone.
LOL
I stand corrected. I thought Woodside’s Cutleresque meltdown in the bowl game might dissuade you.
not at all. the offense was just overwhelmed by the defense and couldn’t do anything. I’ve seen enough of him for one game to not change my mind.

Veta?
_____________
Is he the only senior on the D? I haven’t really paid much attention to them but their speed at LB and DB getting to Barkley last night on those wide runs was unbelievable. He couldn’t do anything running wide last night.
Fales expected to play some today.
Question: Do the Phins go all out at Fangio for their new DC after tomorrow?
I doubt we change the DC. If so, I hope it is Fangio not Pagano or Fox.
So we stay with a DC who can’t get the job done. Would be just like Miami to do that.

If we drafted talents like a G Quenton Nelson 1st and TE Troy Fumagalli 2nd I would say cool let’s keep it going. 🙂
_________________
can’t argue with that
Speaking of Fumagalli, he only has 9 fingers. He had to have his index finger removed on his left hand when he was very very young.
yeah, before he was even one yr old. that sucks. however, it’s amazing that he catches EVERYTHING and doesn’t drop the ball. strong hands. seam threat. I’ll take him.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you! I hope you all have a healthy, happy, enjoyable new year
Thank you Mike. Back at ya and say Hi to Missus
Same here. I know I’m a pain in the ass but I’m not a total douchebag. Close but not the total. lol.
Be safe on the roads tonight if you’re traveling anywhere. Hope 2018 is great for all of you.
Sterup is said to be the starter today instead of Tunsil.
11 degrees here this coming Friday and it’s supposed to be 3 degrees around 6 a.m. Next Friday it’s supposed to be 41.
Cutlers last game today, he said he doesn’t want to back up RT in 2018.
Matt Moore is Matt Moore, lol nuff said.
Fales is likely not a long term answer.
I still see it as imperative We draft a QB in 2018, and early.
I like Josh Allen, his size and skill set would fit perfectly for Miami imo
he looks like another major project.
He wouldn’t be expected to start, sit behind RT for a year or two unless RT knee blows again.
But he’s big and tough, we need a tough QB because our OL sucks.
And he can deliver the ball fast as hell, get it to the receiver before the defender can close.
cannon arm, and accurate downfield even when rolling out.
A good coach could bring the best out of him imo
accurate?
You don’t think he’s accurate? How did he throw 3 first quarter TDs in his potato bowl game, lol
He’s had a successful career in Wyoming, had a shoulder injury this year and played for a crummy team. He is expected to be a first round pick, even Elway was at the bowl game and said to be considering him with their first pick
Completion rate below 60% and maybe it wouldn’t mean much but he makes a lot of bad throws
Happy New Years everyone, may 2018 be the year We always dreamed of, lol
💰
you too David
Lou, here is Allens TDs in his bowl game. Enjoy!
Lou, it’s funny my brother-in-law has a saying, I may be an asshole, but I’m not a douchebag. LOL
OD, the idea is you want to develop players and hopefully Asiata can be one of those guys.

————
Fumagalli’s got a 5% drop rate. That’s not terrible, but it’s not very good compared to the top-end TEs of this draft class. He’s not a seam-splitter, his lack of YAC is most underwhelming, and he only has 7 career TDs in 4 years (Gesicki has 9 TDs alone in his senior season). His tape is underwhelming, as are his highlights but 1 or 2 plays.
I like his catch radius, I like his blocking ability, but he’s more of a poor man’s Anthony Fasano than he is a stud TE. I view him as a 4th Round or later selection… we can do so much better than that if we’re looking for a TE1. I’d be eyeing either of Dallas Goedert, Mike Gesicki, or Adam Breneman: THAT’S where it’s at, at the TE position.
Lou
Veta is the nose tackle that is fast enough to play on ST.
I don’t know about their LB’s haven’t looked?
David Allan has everything you need to be a NFL QB!
But he has his Mat Moore moments!!!!!!!!!
Ty for Your opinion 😎 Hopefully he gets more consistant
Did our game get moved to 4 pm?
Yes
and Webb’s answer (I’ll take Webb’s opinion over anyone’s!)
Richmond Webb @RichmondWebb
Replying to @nashmax73 @jstew9
He’s going to be alright!!! He’s a good player.
I have to agree with M13 on Fumagalli. I think he is = to or slightly better than Fasano as a receiver but not as good of a blocker after watching last nights game. I saw him whiff on a couple blocks. I am going with Andrews in the 2nd round or Hurst in the 2nd or 3rd round, Gesicki in the 3rd round, and Goedert of fumagalli in the 4th round.
Could also maybe go with Adam Breneman in the 4th.
My efforts as a fan this morning match our offense’s efforts this season:
I didn’t even bother to check schedule and now I have to reorganize my entire day around the time change of game. Maybe I’ll get traded to the Eagles and share tv guide duties with four other fans. 😉
LOL
I also like TE 6’5 258 Marcus Baugh from Ohio State who caught 4/40 against Southern Cal incl one for 20 yds.
if he’s still there in the 6th, as he might be.

Isaac Asiata time!
May the kava be with him!
I really need to see some Combine 40 times and some real ht/wt ratios on many of these guys. Every year I get a crush on certain guys who turn out to be slow or not nearly as tall as they need to be.
I don’t want any 4.88 TEs or any 6’3 TEs or any kind of tweeners at all.

——–
That would rule out Goedert (6’3″) and Fumagalli (4.84) for you.
And Smyth (4.87), who is probably the premier blocking TE of this Draft.
Fumagali is a beast. 2nd best TE in draft behind the guy from Penn State
Gronk ran 4.68 coming out. I doubt he’s able to now . So I’ll just take a fast enough bull dozer…..
He is also 6’6” 250 LBs and will likely bulk up even more
What about Mark Andrews from OK, anyone like him? He sure is productive, great size and speed for TE
http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2018mandrews.php
Andrews is the consensus #1 TE in this draft. While I really like him, I don’t want him unless he falls to us in the 2nd Round (doubtful). We’ve got bigger fish to fry with our 1st Round pick.
Happy New Year, David!!!
My top-5 TEs would be…
1) Mark Andrews
2) Dallas Goedert
3) Mike Gesicki
4) Adam Breneman
5) Ian Thomas
Want a stud blocking TE in the 4th-5th Round to replace Fasano, should he retire?
6) Durham Smythe
I subscribe to this list.

Was told Vance Joseph is out in Denver after 1 year
Lol. Shocker…..
I never understood why they hired him….. their D regressed too
MF
I have Goedert listed as 6’4 on numerous sources and as heavy as 260. But this is why I say I want to see the true tape at the combine so you don’t get those “friendly” measurements.
😦
Gronk running a 4.68 is FAST … I would take a TE all day at that speed.
IF he is tall enough.
M13, can’t believe you left Hayden Hurst off your list. He will run in the 4.7’s. He plays like a 6’4″ 250 lb Jarvis Landry. He looks to punish DB’s after the catch. A beast on the field and has really good hands.
I like Hurst a lot too
Ian Thomas is supposed to be the fastest of this TE group but can’t fin much tape on him.
Fin eh? 🙂
Actually, Hurst might be faster.
Just curious, is anyone here excited or intrigued with Vance Joseph being available now? Personally, I’m not interested, I’d keep looking
Lol. See my reply to M’s post.
I’m kinda with Lou as well. Let Burke go and get someone that has D experience and get that thing right.
Yeah man, I agree. Burke doesn’t really bring anything to the table. I want someone with more experience, and someone with a bigger resume.

Oh YEAH! He’s another good one, for sure! Put him at #5 for me instead of the inexperienced Ian Thomas, who is the fastest TE of this Draft at 4.67.
Anyone know how the field is? Miami/Wisconsin was last night.
Likely pretty shitty, as it has been almost all year
M is 100% right, we shouldn’t share with the Hurricanes, unless they change it to that artificial rubber crap.
+100000000000000, Mike E! Hurricanes need their own stadium and they can afford it.

I saw from one of the beat writers that it looks really good today. I guess we’ll know for sure before much longer!
I don’t care as far as results of the game, I just don’t want any major injuries in a meaningless game.
In that chart above, I count 35 penalties on our OL,
and that is without any of the guys who played LG.
That by itself is enough to change your offense a whole level of achievement down.
And in that list also it shows that our WRs had 11 penalties so it’s even worse for our offense.
OMG what pair of WRS gets 11 penalties?
Let’s see if the Browns can pull off some magic on the last play of the game!
NOPE!!! 0-16 it is!!!
