Miami Dolphins Offense 2018

While significant changes were made to the defense, the same could be said for the offense as well.  Gone is the sometime misfiring spark plug #14 WR Jarvis Landry.  Also gone via retirement is TE Anthony Fasano.  Oh, also gone, thankfully, is #6 Jay Cutler, who was kind enough to play for Adam Gase one more time to the tune of $10M.  In addition to Cutler evacuating the QB spot, long time Dolphins backup Matt Moore finally made his exit after 7 seasons.  Former pro bowl center  Mike Pouncey was released after 7 seasons and 3 pro bowls.  So those are the departees, let’s now take a look at all the players who have joined the Miami Dolphins offense.

Maybe the largest acquisition, both in size and importance was signing LG Josh Sitton in FA.  The 4 time pro bowler should really solidify the left side of the line, and his presence alone should make our young LT Laremy Tunsil a better player.  Tunsil will learn from Sitton, as well as benefit from better play aside him.  Sitton is an excellent pass blocker, and will open holes for the run game as well.  After the release of C Mike Pouncey, the Dolphins wasted no time in trading for SF 49ers starting C Daniel Kilgore.  Whether Kilgore is an upgrade over Pouncey remains to be seen, but we do know he will be practicing with his linemates from OTA’s all the way to the preseason, which is a good thing.  Kilgore may actually be a better run blocker than Pouncey, so that should help our run game.   We picked up the 5th YR option on RT Ja’Wuan James, so that just leaves the RG spot up for grabs between veteran Ted Larsen, up and comer Jesse Davis and last year’s 5th RD pick Isaac Asiata.

The Dolphins decided to fill the WR corps with a couple of veterans, one a long time veteran in WR Danny Amendola,  the other a younger and ascending player in WR Albert Wilson.  Amendola, a 9 year veteran who played his last 5 seasons with the Patriots is well known to Dolphins fans.  One of those irritating smaller, quicker WR’s who we can never seem to cover well,  Amendola is also a very clutch big game performer.  Amendola really shined in the playoff spotlight, so we can only hope he can help us if we should reach that high.  Albert Wilson is on the rise, albeit a low grade rise, but Wilson had his best season last year for the Chiefs.  Another smaller, speedy WR who like Amendola, will play more in the slot, his YPR are at 12.5, which is 2.5YPR higher than Jarvis Landry.  Wilson has 4.4 speed, so he will add some speed to the middle of the field, and give safeties and LBs fits.

At the RB position, we signed long time veteran RB Frank Gore, who spent his last 3 season with the Indianapolis Colts, after spending 10 years, no typo, with the 49ers.  Gore has a lot of wear on his treads, but those reconstructed knees just keep going, and his wish was to finish his career in Miami, where it all started for him at the U of M.  Gore joins last year’s standout RB Kenyan Drake, and in the draft in RD 4, we added even more firepower, drafting big back Kalen Ballage out of Arizona St.  This big back moves very well, running a 4.46 and has very reliable hands and catches the ball extremely well.  That basically gives us a stable of backs that can catch the ball out of the backfield, which is precisely what HC Adam Gase wants.

Saving the best for last, the Miami Dolphins finally addressed the TE position!  I’ll say it again, it felt so good, the Dolphins finally addressed the TE position, doubling down in the draft.  In RD 2, the Dolphins selected the most athletic TE in the draft, Penn State TE Mike Gesicki (JERSEY STRONG!).  In RD 4, the Dolphins selected Notre Dame standout Durham Smythe.  This gives the Dolphins just what they have missed for far too long.  Gesicki, a super fast athletic receiving TE who can sky for the ball, a vertical leap over 41″ to be that seam busting TE and a nightmare to cover in the red zone.  Durham Smythe is a fine receiving TE as well, but he’s also a dependable in line blocking TE, who will replace Anthony Fasano.  I can’t wait to see this duo out on the field, terrorizing opposing defenses like our defense always has been.

OK, maybe I didn’t really save the best for last, but I’m very pleased that #17, Ryan Tannehill will be back this season.  He’s worked very hard to get back in the game, rehabbing for nearly 2 years.  As HC Adam Gase stated, Tannehill has remained right on top of things,  learning every nuance of the offense, understanding better the offense, and he will get his hands back on the reins of this offense this season.  I know he has detractors, but I’m a fan, and I really hope he can begin this season playing at the level he left off at in 2016.  I think he was playing his best football, and the TD numbers were down due to the extremely slow start the team had in the first 5 games.  Tannehill was balling, and if he could pick up where he left off, I like our chances for the playoffs with this newly constructed roster.

There’s an awful lot to be optimistic about this season, despite what the Vegas oddsmakers say.    Robert Quinn, Cam Wake, Charles Harris and Andre Branch getting after the QB.  Finally, a trio of competent LB’s with Raekwon McMillan manning the middle, surrounded by Kiko Alonso and Stephone Anthony, and mix in Jerome Baker on passing downs.  A legit deep safety, Minkah Fitzpatrick, who can cover anywhere and everywhere on the field, which allows thumper and robber Reshad Jones to make plays closer to the LOS.  A big safety who can come up and cover on passing downs, T.J. McDonald, and tackle like a LB, even if they don’t call him one.  A defensive line rotation with 8 competent guys who will be rotating much more frequently to keep everyone fresher.  Some good young corners, Cornell Armstrong and Jalen Davis to enter the mix, with our own CB/WR returning from injury, Tony Lippett, along with starters Xavien Howard and Cordrea Tankersley.

Just imagine if Devante Parker ever decides to be the WR we all hoped like hell he would be for the Dolphins.  Add in Amendola, Wilson, Gesicki, Smythe and the trio of RB’s, and this offense could take off.  I really believe there is something to look forward to this season, something way beyond 4 wins.  It’s time for Tannehill to step up to that elusive next level, but I think we have the pieces in place to help him get there.  A better O-line, a much less predictable offense that won’t be reliant on one player, and so many different personnel formations to run with confidence, 2 TE’s, 3 WR’s, a RB in the slot, 4 WR’s, whatever, we can do it all.  Be optimistic, but cautiously optimistic.  I don’t want anyone to go off the deep end.  GO DOLPHINS!!!

Good writeup, Mike. I’m optimistic, but cautiously optimistic. But I do see potential for this team to be a good team.

Nice write-up Mike. You could have probably left out the paragraph on the RBs, that may have been discussed on the blog already..

“sometime misfiring spark plug #14 WR” now that was one great description MIke E….and yeah he is a great player, but still….no nitro injector in him.

Think this O is going to be most interesting. And btwn the two new TEs, the most different Wilson and Amendola, plus the pass catching backs…….LBs and safeties have a lot of new worries. Have a feeling we will do a whole lot less three WR this year, unless you count Gesicki split out.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

You mean as Rock affectionately calls him “The big WR”

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

        Big slow WR. LOL

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Gesicki was just a bit too short for the NBA given that some guards are 6’5″ now. Probably could have won Gold in the Olympics at volleyball, but that doesn’t pay as well. A faux dunk or spike might be a good endzone celebration for him after a redzone catch though.

Bookman – We lost in the playoffs a lot in the 90’s. The Bills were a damn good team. It’s hard as hell to make 4 superbowls. They will forever be underappreciated because they lost all 4, but that’s still an amazing feat.

  10. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Q: It’s the summer of 2022. Which pick from the 2018 draft will we judge as the best?

A: (from ESPN writer and former NFL player) Matt Bowen — Minkah Fitzpatrick, S, Miami Dolphins. Fitzpatrick has the versatile traits to impact the game like Tyrann Mathieu. He’s that “monsterback” in the secondary who can cover, blitz, tackle and make plays on the ball. Miami found a defensive leader here.

I am in the same boat, he was a guy i absolutely hated, but it was because i hated playing against him. Had he been on our team, he would have been one of my favorite players all time. Too bad by the time we did get him he was old and busted.

Nice Write up Mike E (well the fist two paragraphs, then I skipped to the comments) I really hope Asiata wins the battle at RG this year!

Another great write up Mike E

Only thing I can add is that Stills should benefit from the speedy threat of Wilson and the sneaky of Amendola. Stills will be popping some big ones this year having the field opening up as the D cant just sit back and wait for that old spark plug to grab the 5 yard pass.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

my apology is sincere so please accept it. The poll hasn’t mattered for weeks now.

  23. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Tim, I am feeling positive about the roster and upcoming season too. (You don’t say!? Rockphin drinking the Kool-aid? Unheard of!) I really feel like they have a vision of how to win and like what they have done in that direction. Speed, interchangability, finding the pieces that have been missing on this team for years. TE, guys how can cover TE’s, etc.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah man. To me if the OL and DT positions are solid, we should be better. If Tannehill plays well we’re a playoff team.

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

if how we feel about our depth comes to fruition. If our LB’s wind up sucking.

I find it humorous that some fans are concerned about a QB coming back from an ACL but less concerned about a LB coming back from one.

I feel the potential is there with this squad. They just have to PROVE IT to OD. LOL

  24. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I found this interesting (and encouraging) from the Phinsider

our roster is currently made up as follows
    Drafted Players (30)
    Undrafted Free Agents (25)
    Free Agents (23)
    Trades / Waivers (11)

The Dolphins have been trying to do it right the last 3-4 years.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

They’re also staying away from the big FA signings. I debated Lou all offseason about some of this.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s about time. It’s something I’ve been saying for a long time. Stop spending big money on free agents and build the team right.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

You have to sign free agents, but you don’t have to go in desperate to the point that you severely overpay for a player. We’ve been avoiding that, and it works.

  25. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

What I forgot to add earlier, our young guys have been here for 2-3 years now in the same system and have APPEARED to be developing so I am excited to see that trend continue.

You have to sign free agents….

It will be nice when we can get to a point where players “play for us at a discount for a chance at a ring”

  27. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’m very excited about the addition of Minkah Fitzpatrick. Before the draft I felt he would be one of those guys who helps turn a defense around. We got him. I think we landed special. I really like our first 5 picks in the top 4 rounds. After that we’ll see. CB Cornell Armstrong should compete for a spot or at least PS. LB Quentin Poling should compete for a spot or at least PS. Rizzi seems high on K Jason Sanders.

A note about Sanders and his pct. as a K in college, Rizzi pointed out that’s not that important. He cited like 7-8 top NFL kickers who weren’t high pct. kickers in college. He said he looks for the leg strength and talent, and also the makeup of the individual. He feels better execution can be coached.

  28. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

If you want to see the Jets that bad, come to the Met Life Takeover!

I already put it out there that I am interested in doing this this year. I need to look at my work schedule around that date.

  29. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Tim, I saw on Sanders Rizzi saying he kicked the laces a lot in his career in college and that he won’t be kicking the laces in the nfl.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yep! Holder’s fault, not his. He also talked about P Matt Haack who he thinks his best football is ahead of him and that’s why there’s no competition there. He said he punted for like 19 straight months with his college season, prep for the NFL draft, then a 16 game NFL season and hit a bit of a wall. He now has had an offseason. These are things fans and media don’t often think about.

  30. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Middle of Sept is tough for me to get time off, but it’s not like I would need to take a whole week. Friday & Monday. Of course 4 days in a hotel in NY cost a lot more that 4 days in a hotel in Hollywood. 😉

  31. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

We may have discussed this already but I actually like that all of our games are 1:00 games this year except for the Thursday night game.

  32. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    —————–
“But Miami seems determined to really, really try. Gase and Tannehill do not want to be last in the NFL in offensive plays again in 2018. And because it seems obvious the Dolphins will attempt to play faster and pass more often, it seems unlikely.”

Now wait a minute… we were told that most of our Offensive staff changes this offseason were made because we wanted to RUN THE BALL more often.

Maybe Schad is talking out of turn above — and I’m not trying to sound like a downer — but I’m already not liking what I’m hearing. It seems as if this team has no firm plan, vision, or identity heading into the summer.

Either the beat writers aren’t hearing correctly… or they are, and there’s already conflict on the staff as to how this Offense is designed to work in ’18. $#!t, maybe the staff is just throwing a bunch of disinformation out there, but there’s really no need to do that.

    Just an observation.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

You don’t have to always run up-tempo, but it sure would be nice to be able to do it well if the game dictates it.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Play fast and be balanced mixing it up. We have more in the toolbox now.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Hopefully it all works out in the end. At least we have the summer to work on our identity if there are any internal disagreements right now.

I’m sure we’ll be fine, but I found the conflict in interest (run more often vs pass more often) to be noteworthy.

  33. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We have a much deeper TE room than we’ve had in years. Gavin Escobar was brought into compete but I also think it was to add more experience to the group. He’s gone through 4 offseasons in the NFL. At the least he can help the young guys prepare.

Watch after drafting the young stud TEs this is the year Escobar becomes the main man. LOL

Could actually happen, not likely but could…

  34. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

You can play fast uptempo and still run. Its basically how the Cheats run the ball. Wait for the right defense and trap them out on the field.
Smythe is going to big a bigger pick than appears for this reason. He can run block and is a pretty darn good receiver.

Has Da’Mob figured out the OSK if the potential KO rule changes take place??

    What about on sides kicks,
(Receiving team has to stay 15 yards from LOS before contact)

    Or until ball touches ground

OSK Ball only has to go 10 yards
(Receiving team previously allowed within 10 yards)

No running start for kicking team
No stacked sides, (5 per side of ball)

    How’s that gonna work???

On side kick every play, if the receiving team can’t come within 15 yards of the LOS??

Seems like, if the receiving team has to run full blast 5 yards forward
While the kicking team is running full blast 11 yards forward
That OSK collisions will be more intense

than when the receiving team STOOD 10 yards away

What am I missing, has Da’Mob figured out how that’s gonna go??

I don’t want us to have an identity, especially on offense, if that means we are predictable and thus easier to prep for and sub against. I want teams to not know what they will be up against on certain down and distance situations or certain clock time and/or lead vs. behind scenarios.

In the kickoff change proposals article they say to make it more like a punt…if they want to make it more like a punt, let them punt it, and only allow 2 guys deep, everyone else has to be between 10-15 yards from where the ball is kicked, reducing the full speed contact.

  42. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I heard that they want to make the fair catch available inside the 10 and give the receiving team the option of making a fair catch and bringing it out to the 25, eliminating the corner and pooch punts.

Datt would suck as well as receiving team not having to touch the ball once it enters EZ which equates to automatic touch back!!!

  48. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Smythe on Fasano:

“Obviously I would watch some of his stuff in the pros but at Notre Dame, he was a guy who wasn’t just a big receiver,” Smythe said of Fasano. “He was a guy who would grind it out, in-line, but then he could split out. He could run on a deep corner or something like that. So (he was) a guy who could do a little bit of everything. Then another one (like that) was Kyle Rudolph, because he’s kind of the same way — a big guy who can play in-line but at the same time can run deep overs and things like that. He doesn’t really have to be a guy who can be taken off the field.”

Ultimately, that’s the goal for Smythe, becoming a complete tight end and staying on the field in all situations.

  49. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Mike E, why are you so insecure about Smythe? You gotta throw Gheysucking into the coversation.

  50. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

He doesn’t really have to be a guy who can be taken off the field.

READ: Doesn’t have a passive approach as blocker puts run plays in immediate peril like some other big WR we drafted…..

(I just can’t help myself. I really like Gesicki, just don’t tell MikeE)

  51. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

“I’ll say it again, it felt so good, the Dolphins finally addressed the TE position, doubling down in the draft. I can’t wait to see this duo out on the field, terrorizing opposing defenses like our defense always has been.”

  52. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We got two talented TEs in this draft. We all wanted that position addressed and we did it in full force and now we have all this fickle ghey shit going on. LOL

  53. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

it is GOD-ert Mike not gogurt. Get it right. The comparisons will go on for years. (and Smythe migth wind up being the best of them! lol)

  54. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

the Dolphins selected the SECOND most athletic TE in the draft, Penn State TE Mike Gheysucki (JERSEY STENCH!).

There I fixed it for you. LOL

  55. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Tim, it will stop when Mike admits I am right! LOL

  56. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Mike I have two side bets for you. (gentlemen’s bets, unless you want to do a money bet)

    1. Smythe will “start” before Gesicki.
    2. Smythe will score a regular season TD before Gesicki.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Starting doesn’t mean much to me. Gesicki may not get as much playing time in the beginning because Smythe is an in line TE, Gesicki is a receiver. I’ll bet you that Gesicki has more receptions and TD’s by season’s end though.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Both possible but not important. I’m real happy we landed both.

  57. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

This is funny from “Football Outsiders Four Downs”

    Buffalo Bills
    Biggest need: Wide receiver

Let’s go into this with the idea that Josh Allen is a stab at solving the quarterback problem. Hey, stop laughing! We know it’s an absurd premise. But let’s give them the benefit of the doubt on that pick. Buffalo’s highest-regarded receiver, Kelvin Benjamin….

  58. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

So much of this could benefit a Dolphins team that needs every inch of field position for the offense that it can get. Last season, the Dolphins were seventh in the NFL with an average of 54.4 kickoff return yards a game. For perspective, the Chiefs led at 65.7. But Miami was 20th in return average at 20.9 after finishing tied for fourth in 2016 at 25.1 yards. Miami’s longest return in 2017, 37 yards, ranked 25th in the league.

we were 7th in the league because we returned too many kicks (after giving up too many scores!)

  59. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Would love if the biggest worry is the kicker….

  60. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Interesting rules changes proposal for the kickoff.

So the changes would open up the return game again, but effectively eliminate the onside kick. With no running start the kicking team has basically no chance to recover an onside.

    • 13kvFINS's avatar 13kvFINS says:

Receiving team is 15, NOT 10 yards from tee’d up ball !!!

      OSK ???

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Ah, I didn’t catch that, so that should even it out then.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

It may even give the kicking team a bit more advantage as the receivers now have to run up to the ball every time for an onside.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Actually, looking at it again, the ‘set up zone’ is from the receiving team’s 40 to the kicking teams 45. So the receiving team CAN line up 10 yards away from the kick.

So I’m back to thinking these changes will significantly reduce the percentage of successful onside kicks.

  61. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Regardless of all the opinions on Tannehill, it’s a really good thing that the entire org is behind him and everyone is in on him being our starting QB this year. Big year for Ryan to prove he’s good to go and worth that investment.

The thing I like about Ryan is he has always said competition doesn’t bother him. He’s been competing his entire life. That’s how he got here. You don’t get to the NFL not competing.

  62. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Kong – They were actually considering eliminating the OSK completely anyway, too many injuries. It still might happen.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

They’re trying to reduce the distance players run to minimize momentum and collision speeds. They were ON NFL radio more injuries occur on OSK’s than regular KO’s

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Makes sense. The way the changes set it up hurt the kicking team’s chances, but if they really want to eliminate it, I wonder if they’ll just say the ball has to travel at least 25 yards or something to that effect.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

^ they were saying on NFL radio

      • 13kvFINS's avatar 13kvFINS says:

Thought I heard Rizzi say “”believe it or not a lot of injuries are taking place upon the EZ downing of the ball”””. Which seems very odd, but he did say “”believe it or not”””

The way I’m seeing that chart/setup zone is that the
Receiving team HAS TO LINEUP 15 yards away, and
CANNOT BLOCK inside of that 15 yards,
Or until THE BALL TOUCHES THE GROUND

Being permitted to block and/or step inside of said 15 yards via the BALL TOUCHING THE GROUND suggest OSK

So, I’m thinking the receiving team guys that ((( have to lineup 15 yards from the ball ))), will upon kick have to deduct if it’s an OSK and charge 5 yards forward for 10 yard OSK recovery

Or if it a regular KO and begin back peddle so they don’t get run past via roadrunners ( beep beep )…

If this is how it gonna be POTENTIALLY,

I envision advantages to the kicking team on OSK,

And the receiving team on regular KO…

Maybe the NFL wants most possessions beginning between the 40’s??

Sorry, Sorry to “”fart in anyone general direction””

Just miffed with what the OSK may become!!!
Can’t wait for most of it to be voted in,
And a clear definition of the end results!!!

Eliminating it (which I don’t see) would suck for those in need of a late comeback, or as a surprise OSK when least expected!!!

        GOFINS!!!

LIGHTNING WINS!! – – LIGHTNING WINS!! Tampa Bay regains the so-far worthless home ice advantage in this series with a stunning 4-2 win in Washington. I say “worthless” because the home teams are 0-4 so far in this series. Overall, home teams are 34-40 in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs!!

#1 star has to be Bolts’ goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, who stood on his head this game. At one time, Tampa Bay had 7 shots on goal while the Caps had 28!! Tampa Bay can’t continue to get out shot 4-1 or 3-1 and win this series. But, tonight, “VASY” stole one game for the Lightning. Game 5 is Saturday Night at Amalie Arena in Tampa. Can the Bolts be the FIRST TEAM to win a home game in this series???

I’ve posted the link again for easy reference.

If you click on it to enlarge it, you can see the set up zone begins at the kicking team 45 and ends at the receiving team 40. You would have to have 8 men within that zone which starts 10 yds away from the kick. It overlaps the no block zone by 5 yds, so the ball would have to touch the ground first before you can block in that overlapping 5 yds, but in the case of an OSK, it would likely hit the ground right away or be touched. The biggest change would be the kicking team doesn’t get a running start.

Of course this may be a moot point, it hasn’t even been voted in yet, lol.

        Moot point Yea maybe??

I heard it said many times that those 8 receiving team players have to lineup 15 yards away!!!

I believe that the other colored in 5 yards/10 yards from ball is for in the case of an OSK which is when that 5yards/10 yards from KO can be approached/only upon an OSK…

That’s how I interperate it via looking at chart and as far as the 15 yard lineup must which is what I’ve heard on TV numerous times…

I don’t think it’ll be a moot point, some of the proposals are very likely to be passes…

Guess we’ll have to wait for an exact explanation!!!

Personally what I’m seeing and hearing doesn’t make sense, cuz if what I’m hearing/seeing comes to be, I see bigger collisions on OSK, cuz if it takes place the receiving team will be running forward 5 yards while the kicking team is running forward full speed 11 yards toward the ball..

Before it was just the kicking team running 5 yards to gather speed and ten yards toward simply standing receiving team players..

Now (if what I see actually is)
There will be one train at full speed moving five yards in the direction of another train moving 11 yards on the same track…

        GOFINS!!!

  76. D's avatar D says:

They say that Ameer Abdullah might get cut by Detroit. Id take a flyer on him, he has some serious speed and would be a good third down or change of pace back for us. We have for sure three loks for the team right now at RB in Drake, Ballage and Gore, but we have been known to carry 4, and that would be a really good compliment to our team if he were to beat out whomever else was there to compete with. He could be an upgraded version of Williams for us, an upgrade over both Perry and likely Howell, though i know nothing about that kid. He would be a better kick returner than Perry as well.

There might be even better options for us to ring in for competition in preseason, but especially if Abdullah is an early cut or if they plan on trading him for a really late round pick, my opiion is he would give us even better options for certain packages on offense and give better depth at the same time, with his former starters experience and homerun speed.

Go back and try it and you will see what i mean.

As for UDFA’s im kinda pulling for the Quincy Redmond kid who is the DE from Fairmont. He has a really heart warming story of overcoming adversity and id like to see him overcome the odds and make the team even if its just for PS to start.

Im also pulling for Drew Morgan to make the 53 this year. With the WR’s they have that are already locks to make the roster, its going to leave him a really hard road to do so but i think he could be a Edelman/Amendola clone for us. If he doesnt make it he can still be stashed on the PS but id like to see him have a chance to make the roster and be active for a game(s).
