Oh yeah!!! This is the unit that has me excited, because we haven’t had good play at MLB in a while, and this year, Raekwon McMillan is back and ready to be the tackling machine we have missed. I’m not going to count T.J. McDonald, or Minkah Fitzpatrick, or Reshad Jones in this article, but we know they all will be rotating in on passing downs and basically playing nickel LB, whether they officially call it that or not. These 2 things, Raekwon being there to stop run plays, and the combination of the safeties and LB Jerome Baker in coverage make me feel much more confident about our defense going forward. The need for Kiko Alonso to be the guy in coverage is now over, and the Dolphins will be in better hands for it. We’ve seen enough of him unsuccessfully chasing players catching footballs and being a good 5 yards behind them.
We currently have 10 LB’s on the roster, but once we get down to the serious cuts, we’ll probably have only six remaining. Let’s look at what we have, and who I think sticks, and who I think doesn’t.
Kiko Alonso – LB 6’3 239 28YO
Alonso has been a steady performer the Dolphins. He played and started in 15 games in 2016, and all 16 games in 2017. Although he struggles in coverage, he’s been a good player for us. Last year Alonso finished with 115 total tackles (79 solo), along with 2 sacks and 2 FF’s. Kiko will be playing mostly on the weak side which I think is exactly where he belongs. In 2016, he had the huge INT and TD return for 60 yards. I think he’s a little under appreciated here, but he’s been a solid, dependable player.
____________________________________________________
Raekwon McMillan – LB 6’2 248 22YO
Raekwon was injured in the season opener covering the first punt of the year as he collided with teammate Deon Lacey. He tore his ACL, but he is now fully recovered and ready to take the reins of this defense as the defensive signal caller, the MLB. The big 250 LB ran a 4.6 40 at the combine, and he had a very nice career at Ohio St. I think McMillan will be the difference maker in this LB corps. Last year Chase Allen and Mike Hull filled in some, and while Allen flashed some, I don’t think he made the impact that McMillan will for us this season. He’s already shown he’s ready as even early in practices in OTA’s, McMillan was adjusting the defense and putting players in the appropriate position.
____________________________________________________
Stephone Anthony – LB 6’3 245 26YO
The SLB is less set in stone than the WLB and MLB spots are. At the moment, Stephone Anthony is manning the SLB spot, but he may face some competition from rookie Jerome Baker, and possibly even Chase Allen. The former 1st RD pick (#31) of the New Orleans Saints started out as a MLB, but the Saints coaches felt the strain of the mental aspects of the game lessened his play, so they tried to work him at OLB, but after a promising rookie season, his play fell off and then so did his playing time, which made him expendable for a 5th RD pick last season. He will be given every chance to win the job, but he’s going to have to show a little something, because the 5th we spent on acquiring pales when compared to the 3rd we spent on Jerome Baker. This may be the last chance for Anthony to be a starter.
____________________________________________________
Terrence Garvin – LB 6’3 242 27YO
Garvin is basically a ST’s standout. He can also provide depth, but Garvin’s meal ticket is his special teams prowess. Garvin has played for the 3 NFL teams, and at each stop, he’s been the ST’s ace. Garvin was signed in 2013 by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an UDFA. He played 3 seasons for the Steelers, and then was picked up by the Redskins in 2016. Last season he played for the Seattle Seahawks. Garvin has started only 4 games in his 5 year career.
___________________________________________________
Mike Hull – LB 6’0 235 27YO
Hull was signed as an UDFA here in MIA in 2015. Hull appeared in only 3 games as a rookie in 2015, but played in all 16 games in both ’16 and ’17, with 4 starts. Hull plays special teams, so he that’s where his value is, plus he can play MLB in a pinch, but just don’t expect a lot. He will continue to be a special teams player and a backup if he makes the cut.
__________________________________________________
Jerome Baker – LB 6’1 229 21YO
Baker was our 3rd RD pick (#73) in the 2018 NFL Draft. Baker now gives us 2 LB’s drafted from Ohio State (Raekwon McMillan). His strengths are Kiko Alonso’s weakness, but Kiko’s strength is Jerome Baker’s weakness. Kiko is tough playing the run, while Baker struggles to beat and shed blocks in the run game, and gets wiped out too often. Baker’s strength is pass coverage, where he is a bit above average in that regard, and that’s Kiko’s weak point, he doesn’t cover well. A combo of these 2 players would be ideal, but Baker could eventually replace Kiko on the weak side, or he can also displace Stephone Anthony on the strong side. In order to do either of the two, Baker is going to have show more toughness beating blocks and making tough tackles, and continue to show development as a coverage LB. It’s likely Baker is more of a depth player and ST’s player his rookie year, but a strong showing in TC and preseason games could change that quickly. He also will likely get to play some nickel or dime LB if he proves competent in the preseason
_________________________________________________
Chase Allen – LB 6’3 250 25YO
Allen was signed in 2017 as an UDFA. Allen appeared in all 16 games, and was forced to start 4 games due to injuries (McMillan) and cuts (Maualuga). Allen definitely flashed some ability finishing with 33 total tackles (24 solo) along with a FF. He will continue to be a ST’s player, and can provide adequate depth at any of the LB positions.
_________________________________________________
Quentin Poling – LB 6’1 235 24YO
Poling was Miami’s 7th RD pick in the 2018 NFL draft (#227). He is another athletic player, somewhat in the mold of Jerome Baker, but Poling played at Ohio, not Ohio State. He’s a decent cover LB, and likes to chase and tackle. At Ohio, Poling made 43.5 tackles behind the LOS, in addition to 18 sacks, and 7 INT’s. He will have to continue to make those type of plays in the preseason to make the cut. The best chance for Poling to make it would be if the Dolphins don’t see enough from Stephone Anthony, which is a possibility. Right now I’d give him an outside shot, but if Hull or Anthony or Allen are cut, that could give Poling the in.
________________________________________________
Frank Ginda – LB 6’0 245 21YO
Frank Ginda was signed a week ago as an UDFA. he was signed right after LB Mike McCray unexpectedly decided to retire from the NFL. Ginda was a fine player at San Jose St. Last season, Ginda finished with 173 total tackles (94 solo) which led the NCAA in tackles. He shows good instincts, and always flows to the ball. He needs to work on shedding tackles, but Ginda is a player. He’s somewhat of a longshot, but if he can show the same type of play he had at San Jose St, he might be a surprise roster invitee.
________________________________________________
So that’s the LB’s, and again, I’m pretty enthusiastic about this group. I can’t wait to see Raekwon manning the middle, and I’m encouraged that if Stephone Anthony doesn’t step up his game, the Dolphins have at least 2-3 guys that can replace him and give us something.

GOFINS!!! WOO-HOO 1St time 1St…
LB sure is a lot different than last year, but then we drafted Raek for a reason, lost him, and now he is back. And now have Baker….. and we also have Minkah (or maybe by transition TJ). We’ll be going 3 safety a bunch, maybe even in base. Means we are 4 strong at LB for what a lot of time will be just two LBs on the field. Gonna be a lot of mix and match to the opponent and competition for minutes.
Yep, before having TJ & Fitz
We didn’t really have the right DB guys to fill for that
3rd LB whom in today’s game plays just 25% of the time
While DB’s are positioned in that area 75% of the time in today’s NFL!!!

We are 28 solid for the Fest by my count. and the deadline to give the word on actual tickets is coming up in a few weeks. Any update on the possibles? Still a chance to throw in your best friend as a plus too. Doggy — you know if +2 or +3 yet?
+ 2 is the plan.
I’m the opposite of you on this unit Mike. It’s the part of the defense with the most question marks to me. We’ve got inconsistent Kiko, a bunch of guys we haven’t seen much from, and some okay role players. I hope Raekwon is as advertised and someone can step up and be solid along side him. I know we’ll be in nickel a lot, but I just feel like this is the most unsettled part of the D. Here’s to a ton of pick 6’s this year.
SB – Compare it to last year, when we had Hull at MLB, Chase Allen at SLB and Kiko at WLB. I guess Maulauga may have played 3 or 4 games at MLB for us, but it was a bad situation. This year we have Raekwon, Anthony, Alonso, and then Baker, Garvin and whoever makes the roster, in addition to having the one or 2 the 3 safeties helping out in coverage when necessary. I’m much more comfortable with that
Mike.. How can I get a hold of you in private??
Gotta question for you…
IMPORTANT QUESTION!!!
Too Funny, yet sad !!!
“”””For me,” Rizzi said, “he was my mentor.”
And a favorite Tony Sparano story?
“Many people aren’t aware of this, but Tony was a real detail guy,” Rizzi said. “Everything mattered to him. One day Tony actually blamed a Dolphins loss on Richie Incognito because he didn’t brush his hair.
“I can’t remember the game. But Tony and Jeanette get into the car afterward and Tony looks at her and says, ‘That Richie, he came into the locker room today and his shirt was out and his hair was all messy.’
“Jeanette looked at him and said, ‘Tony, did we lose the game because Richie didn’t brush his hair?’ Tony looked back at her and said, ‘Yes, that’s exactly why we lost the game.’
“Everybody laughed at that story after the funeral,” Rizzi added. “We’ll all miss Tony. He was taken away far too soon.””””
RIP Tony, you did good!!!
Best news of my day — Brian NY is coming to the Fest. Coming with his son again, and pulling him out of school early to make Tunes with the Dog.
Nice, that is GREAT news! Happy to hear that!
Mike,
you can look at it that way, but last year was last year. It’s not hard to upgrade on last year’s unit. lol.
Well, that’s what I’m basing my enthusiasm on, how much better we should be compared to last year, and I think Alonso will be better with Raekwon next to him and running the defense. We’ll see
KV – email me @ NJ1dolfan@yahoo.com
Thanks, about to do so…
I will be disappointed if Baker doesn’t win a starting spot
Why do you want him playing early in the year on first downs, when coming in that’s his weakness. We’re going to see so many different packages it won’t matter who starts, and even different packages without making player changes. We have lots of versatility, let’s use it.
Because I just don’t we have much talent at the position and I expect a 3rd round pick to make an impact
If he absolutely blows everyone away and is balling, I’m cool with that, but I don’t expect that to be the case.
Last night was a rant about someone trying to hack me and some friends of mine. Asshole!!!
Who? people we also know or some real life asshole?
Not sure yet.
Hey! I’m both!
So that was you posting? If so you gotta give us a bit more context on stuff….. especially if we are waking up in the middle of the night to read it. 🙂
I’d be more disappointed in Minkah not making a big impact for this D.
If Baker can fill spots and contribute he doesnt have to start.
The big question is Anthony……
I think we see a big step from Allen this year..
Oh….Nice write up Mike E.
Thanks
Thanks ER – Anthony is definitely a big question mark. I can either see him playing well, but I can also see him not playing well and getting cut.
My bad for not giving props to Mike E before. Real solid. THink Allen might have a hard time getting playing time other than on ST though.
That may not be a bad thing Stanger.
Although, if Allen is better in run defense, give him some 1st down snaps, but not too often that we’re predictable.
How many times have we seen our D get run over after the initial crack? After that initial first down on any drive they seem to get soft. I’m really looking forward to seeing guys rotating in.
One of the camp reports had a quote from Burke saying, he needs to find each guys strengths and play to them.
We’ve all heard shit like this in the past, but haven’t had the depth to pull it off. I think we do now.
Great job Mike on the LBs. I haven’t paid much attention to what some of these guys bring, so it was informative.
Thanks Steve!
Nice write up, Mike. We should be better at LB this year. If they stay healthy I think the chemistry alone should be improved.
Thanks man, me too
Tim, what does 13kvfins have to do with the rant last night? Seems hes involved somehow.
No it has nothing to do with 13kv.
Shoot, I have trouble logging my own self in, wouldn’t know how to hack myself let alone someone else, even if I were the type, I’m PC ignorant!!! Took me 4 years to figure out how to separate my sentences/paragraphs in order to become legible!!!

Ah, no worries KV, they can go check it out, they’ll be back here at some point.
Dude knows how to wordsmith for sure. Seems like we have a brother site.
Based on that article some here have been branded with an L on their forehead.
NA Steve, just those that have been banned from both and/or most places!!!
This unit was the biggest weakness on our D last year IMO. We know what we have with Kiko. He is up and down, but he is a playmaker. If McMillan can be the MLB we need him to be, that’ll be a huge step towards improving LB play overall.
I hope David got out in time. Avalon Holdings down nearly 38% right now.
I don’t know, but I suggested he get out this morning, or at least liquidate some shares.
the stock was stagnant around $2.20 per share for a year and then shot up to $20.00 in the last 5 days and is now back at $6 something. That looks like it was manipulated.
Nothing wrong with manipulated as an investor so long as you get out before folks catch on to that. No law against it…. let’s hope David just pocketed those huge profits like with his Bitcoin stuff..
““In Miami no one appreciated s–t, Here it’s blue-collar, it’s hard-working. People that actually appreciate what you bring to the table.”
Wouldn’t be a good day without another Landry comment.
Little bitch needs to let it go.
Did he say something again? His comments have been on my pay no mind list for a while now.
Seriously Jarvis? STFU!!!!
I got the down payment for my first home buying a penny stock that was being played. I bought at $0.22 per share, it went up to $1.22 in two days and I sold off 1/2. a week later it was at $14 per share and I sold off the rest for my down payment on my house.
That was my original thought Rock, that bit was a pump and dump scheme.
I believe David knew that and why he picked that stock.
Interesting and another of example of Armando making more of it than it has to be. LOL
https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article215757215.html
I think he’ll play some both inside and outside, but he’s going to play. It’s definitely much ado about nothing. Hyperbole in training camp
Jarvis out here trying to pretend he’s happy in Cleveland. Lol.
And still months from the lake effect snow. Think he wanted both the top money and South Florida.
NA, he still got South Beach in the winter,
The South side of the semi-frozen Ohio River..
Can’t take credit for that, it belongs to Patrick!!!
But it’s funny shit, so I couldn’t resist…
If I was a teammate of Jarvis on the Browns, I think I’d have to ask him if he really wants to be in CLE, and if he’s focused on helping this team win, or focused on complaining about Miami
Teammates don’t like getting in the business of other players.
Thats more of what i think the coaches should be asking him. Curb it and show them on the field. Thats what the coaches should be telling him.
As a coach you might want to use that dissatisfaction to your advantage, convince him to show them what they are missing, and all that. Still its a distraction to have a player bitching and whining every day about what they had, instead of just being thankful for the opportunity they now have.
Im not completely sure who i feel will be the last two we keep if we keep 6. Any of the remaining 6 could those last 2 spots, I think it will come down to position versatility, and money. I think Hull and Anthony actually are being hurt by the fact they are up for contract next year too, even though they are players with game experience for us.
I guess Landry is turning out to be one of those guys that when he is on your team you defend him some…when he is not, he is a jerk…LOL…and boy is he a jerk.
Not much has changed about how i feel about him. He’s a hot head that lets shit get out of control sometimes. He is pissed things couldnt have been liked he wanted them to be and stayed in Miami and got his way, but Gase rightfully took control of the team after letting a handful of player try to run shit, and there was no place for him anymore. He isnt one of our players anymore so what he says about the team doesnt really carry any weight, and it doesnt to other from the outside looking in, unless they already wanted to believe bad things about us. Anyone who is viewing his actions logically can see he’s the spurned ex.
I like the spurned ex comparison.
Also i dont see him as a jerk so much as he is just really immature.
How about immature jerk? LOL
I think it was SB& that was comparing it to a dumped bf/gf and to be honest it does really play out like that to me too. He must have been pretty damn hurt and wanted to stay in Miami to be putting this much effort into badmouthing us.
Well I said he sounded liked a bitter ex in divorce court. I didnt assign a gender lol
Now that is funny!
I didnt either….i left it as bf/gf just in case the hypothetical person we were talking about might not want to identify as one or the other.
Jarvis is definitely immature, and he’s also a jerk. If he were to look back at the things he’s saying now say about 10 years from now, he’d be embarrassed by it, and realize he looks like an immature kid who didn’t get his way.
Probably just bored to death

Man that situation with Darnold is just great lol. Apparently the player were slow-clapping when he finally arrived at practice. He apparently not only is delayed in his start to practicing but he also was late to his first practice. When the reporter asked Bowles what was his reaction to Darnold’s teammates razzing him by giving him a slow rythmatic clap when he came on the field, Bowles first said, “well first of all he was late but other than that…..” that’s not very good coming from the HC lol.
Have takens digs at Hyde before, but real nice piece on Amendola and McCain. WE might have something going on both sides of the inside box in the middle of the field.
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-dolphins/fl-sp-hyde-amendola-mccain-20180730-story.html
What’s really puzzling, or telling as the case may be, about the Jarvis thing is that he did not get cut by Miami. He got a huge pay increase to sign with another team. Seems like he’d be happy about that and just, like, whatevs about his former job. Him raising so much bad karma must mean he had some very real feelings for Gase and the guys and really wanted to be a part of this team.
He needs ti get over himself before he F’s up his fit in Cleveland. It’s possible to lose one’s mojo.
It’s like the divorced ex who whines on twitter even though getting to keep the Malibu beach house and the beamer too.
Man, so we dont get coverage of our first preseason game until Saturday Morning at 6:30am on NFL network. Anyone have a site to watch those games? Does the CBS app allow you to tune into broadcasts in different areas?
Shit they did it to us in week 2 as well…6:30 am WTF.
Friggin 10am on Monday for the third game….jesus they hate us lol.

Just a wild dart – Jersey Mike Gesicki? 😉
If you don’t show up to the Fest with that Jersey Jersey…. you got some splaining to do. 🙂
I don’t want to jinx the kid, my last few jerseys (except for Wake) have been losers.
Still, I might just go for it anyway
Havent learned that lesson? i think its safe for you to buy a Sanders jersey because who the hell likes kickers anyways… 🙂
Mike — think you are good to go except for injury, but that comes with any player.
D — Fields Forever, but do wish had bought that Denney had my eye on. But they kept putting him on one year contracts. Not just any ST guy for me though. Is time for a new jersey though. Maybe Grant.
D – Just be happy you get to see it period. Years ago you couldn’t even see those games (preseason games)
Oh stop old man-ing me….”when i was young i had to walk up hills barefoot across rocky frozen ground to get 10 year old sports results….” I needs to watch it live!

I should have known
I see our D-Line dominated our O-Line today, now that the full-shells have come on… and some are concerned (doesn’t matter that Larsen wasn’t starting today).
Consider this your annual reminder: the Defense is ALWAYS ahead of the Offense at this point in camp. It will probably be like this for a few weeks or so, until the O-Line begins to gel. Rumors of our O-Line’s demise is greatly exaggerated!

It’s fantastic that we’re avoiding the BUG. I would love to see our projected starters all starting the season, and no big losses early on.
As for Omar, that clown is the only Dolphins reporter I’ve seen say anything negative about Tanny so far. Every single other guy has mentioned they see a difference in him this year. Omar’s big take after one day is he thinks Tanny will get Amendola killed. I’m so tired of his slanted BS.
I just hope Omar reaps what he sos when this year is all said and done!
+100000000000000000000000
For the record, I’ve got no personal beef with Omar. It’s just that he steadily became more and more hard-headed over the years. Seems to me that when we were the “MOB”, he was gleaning data/wisdom from US, more so than the other way around… yet we learned TOGETHER from one another. But now that Omar thinks he knows it all, he’s become a SHOCK JOCK, SMH.
I miss the old days… and the old Omar.
I liked Omar the first few years I was at the SS. Unfortunately, those days are long gone. He’s been a jerk for years upon years now.

DO NOT BUY A GISICKI JERSEY
I see Mando is clueless on how we plan on using Wilson. Hello McFly, Gase said they’re playing him all over the place. To the average idiot that means hes going to be the 4th WR on the field, playing all 3 positions. Since Stills can also play the slot, if Amendola is the one out, you may see him going there with Wilson outside. Versatility to get on the field and to confuse the D.
I just read that article. WTF is wrong with these reporters? lol
It’s not just Armando, Bro. EVERY beat writer has been scratching their heads at Gase’s statement, regarding Albert Wilson.
They have to read between the lines, Gase is playing them, probably for all the BS they’ve been putting out there.
LOL, AGREED!
I’m hoping to be moved to Virginia by the time of the MetLife takeover. I’ll only be 4 hrs. Away.
Is Wilson gonna be a returner for us?
I don’t remember seeing him doing return duties
All the WRs will be interchangeable.
That’s what they want, but I don’t see Parker in the slot.

Hope you got a chance to see the red planet tonight. Gorgeous.

why is everyone always laughing out loud at me? It is hurtful you know?

besides I was being serious in this matter. HE SHOULD NOT BUY A GISICKI JERSEY!
there is no better way to cause the young guy to bust than for Mike or Piggy to buy their Jersey.
LIKE HERD, Mrs. OD & Me just returned from vacation. We went to Asheville to see our 6’7″ grandson (Soph. @ UNC Asheville) and his 6 foot girlfriend who is a chemistry major. I’m hoping the “chemistry” produces a marriage and more 6 footers on that side of the family. We had a great time!

GREAT to see the PIGSTER back on the board!! I’ll check back in later. Gotta go pick up our two dogs from “the doggy condo!”
GO FINS!
Fox sports radio this morning was doing a section on surprise teams. One of the guys took us as his 2nd pick, saying things like the adversity from last year, Gase saw who the me guys were and got rid of them, basically all the stuff we’ve been saying, and we’ll be better than 2016.
His partner, that usually disagrees with his picks agreed. I think the betting public is starting to make these national guys see the light.
Mando seems to be concerned with our backup QB. I hear the same thing all the time, if Ryan is out for any significant time we’re done anyways.
Our FO and coaching staff know this, but what about, if he’s out for 3-5 games, can Fales/Osweiler win half or 1 less than half? What do you guys think?
it depends on how many and which games we win with T-hill and which games we win with the backups. I don’t think having T-hill guarantees us a playoff appearance and I don’t think that missing him for 3-5 games necessarily guarantees we fall off pace that much.
It will all come down to which games are wins or losses both with and without him.
I was listening to NFL radio on my way to work, and then a little after 8:30AM, Bob Papa and Ed McCaffrey were supposed to have Mando on from the Herald. Somehow, they screwed up the timing, and he didn’t get on. I freaking never hear them talk about the Dolphins, it’s so frustrating!!!
Rock – You can relax, I’m probably not getting a Gesicki jersey
What did Omar say this time?
When?
As I was scrolling I kept seeing posts about him being negative.
Wyo posted one yesterday where he actually praised Tannehill
I THINK the reaction on here was to Omar saying that Tannehill will get Amendola killed by a safety this year because he throws them into traffic that will get them killed. He aid that Amendola will not make it 16 weeks because of it.
I think also because he mis-wrote the phrase: “reap what you sow” as “reap what you so”
Most teams are going to struggle to win games with a backup QB because there just aren’t enough good QBs to go around. Most backup QBs have deficiencies. That’s why having a complete and balanced team is so important so you can still compete should that happen.
Bookman – That post by Omar was a positive one, even if he ruined the expression.
^ about Tannehill
Okay I went back up and saw Wyo’s post. Why did he say “This had to hurt!”
Did he mean posting Wake’s positive comments about Tannehill?
Omar makes typos like that all the time. LOL
I think Wyo meant it had to hurt Omar to acknowledge good stuff about Tanny
That’s what I was asking.
with NE Amendola was more of a vertical slant threat or RZ threat…he wasn’t a wr screen..Jarvis Landry or edelman type guy with the short pass YACs, i think Wilson will fit more into that mold.
so not sure how he gets killed by tannehill,
I’m not concerned how the coaches line up the WRs, that’s their call. All I care about is that they’re productive. The same goes for every other unit on the team.
Think Omar’s key point was Tanny was throwing bad passes with a “he’s gonna get that wideout killed” for emphasis.
He probably saw a couple of passes that made him think that and turned it into a thing. I’ve also seen clips of RT hitting Amendola on long TDs which is not something Amendola is known for. It’s also TC which is practice. Not everything is pretty.
Pouncey could give Landry some lessons on thee right attitude to have with your new team…. and he got released.
“I never thought I’d play for anybody but the Dolphins, but once they released me, it made me want to be an even better football player. It made me want to prove everybody wrong. I’m excited to be here, I can’t wait to help this run game out and help this football team do something special.”
He took some parting shots at the Dolphins too when he first signed with the LAC.
Yes he did, and it was also something along the lines of it’s nice to play with a great QB if I recall correctly
Yeah the way Rivers gets fired up coming out of the tunnel, Pouncey remembering that when they played the Chargers. But I guess he forgot we’re 3-1 against the Chargers the last 4 times they played. LOL
Well seems he is at least over it at this point. And yeah he praised Rivers in his last stuff, but see no reason to hit for that meaning Tanny was not a great QB…or least can’t blame him much.
Thanks for the reminder, 3-1 against the Chargers. I went to the 1 game.
Lol, Ravens QB Jackson wants to show off growth.
Somewhere Peewee from Porky’s is smiling😉
LOL @ Steve on the 1 game.
I’ve been to 4 games in SD. 1984 the first game we lost after being like 10-0. 1986 game 1, we got crushed like 50 -7, the one mentioned above, and the 4th was a preseason game we won, JJ was the coach.
In Miami the long OT playoff gaame we lost in 1981. 1972 of course we won that game, but I think everyone knows who got hurt.
Lol at Tim thinking the last game I went to in SD was funny.
Steve – You’re not going to the Fest are you? We might be 4-0 against the Chargers if not for you!
Fuckoff Mike.
Note to Schleprock dont attend any more Charger games.
Note to Mike dont buy any more jerseys
😉
I don’t think I’m going to buy a jersey, I really am superstitious
Note to those that write Lol: there’s 2 meanings laughing with you and laughing at someone and in which case you might as well be saying look at this dumbass 😉
Steve, 1986 was the season we were really bad on defense and we couldn’t stop a thing the Chargers were doing. The final score was 50-28 and that was the game when Gary Anderson launched himself what seemed like 20 feet over I think Bud Brown.
I remember the following week the Chargers played the Giants and lost 20-7 with Dan Fouts being asked what happened after scoring 50 the week before and he said something to the effect “well the Dolphins defense is nothing close to this Giants defense.”
I went to this game with friends of mine from high school. They flew out from Miami. We went to a beach boardwalk after the game wearing our Fins shirts and I never took more shit in my life.
Mike you could buy an old Landry Jersey from 2017.
I’d bet Piggy would sell his for a fair price. I’d pee on it and set it on fire.
Steve, LOL @ means laughing at your comment, nothing more. 🙂
Ok
You should see the lol emails from our DBA at work.

I find if you reverse the order of thing it works better. Set it on fire first, then pee on it. Lighting a shirt that is soaking wet with pee is difficult, not to mention gross.
You’ve done this before? lol
used to own a dion fuck face jersey.
Oh I have one of those, but it’s still alive and well
Schleprock?
Why bring him into this?
Sorry didn’t mean any disrespect to family members.
he is so far up the family tree I don’t even think we can be traced that far. Besides, back in the day EVERYONE had Rock of some sort in their names so it’s hard to tell if we are related or not. (Although the storm cloud that follows him around like Ziggy is a good indicator that we are related because it follows me around too)
FlintStone, Rubble, Bolder, Slate, Rockhead,
Ex-Dolphin Mike Pouncey: ‘I’m excited to be on a football team that has a chance’
Yeah, he wasn’t bashing, only saying the right things for his NEW fans, but……
Someone should let him know that his new team has been 9-7, 5-11, 4-12, 9-7 the last 4 years and do not have a chance of winning the west division anytime soon.
Actually – I think the Chargers have a pretty good shot to win the division this year, they have a talented team. TE right now is a big issue, they don’t have one, unless they convince gates to come out of retirement
Yeah, if the 3 season ending injuries dont affect them, and their shiny new center can play up to past success, and the rest of the division lays an egg.
Do you see any one of these things happening?
The Chargers were one of the hot teams the 2nd half last year winning 6 of their last 7 and that’s what everyone is going by. But as we know, last year was last year.
The Chargers always seem to start the season slow.
of course Pouncey didn’t say a chance at what.
We have a chance….at picking in the top 10 next year.
We have a chance….to come in 2-4th in our division again.
We have a chance ….to miss the fist 2 home games due to a terrible earthquake
I see them falling flat on their face this year, for all the reasons mentioned above, and when you end the season with that type of run and dont make the playoffs, the next year seems to revert back to mediocre play. SF is in this same boat and why I dont think they make the playoffs.
Other bad teams the previous year to get hyped and do nothing Jax 2 years ago, Chicago this year😉 we went through it in Saban year 2.
Steve – I’d be willing to bet the Chargers are at least 9-7 this season
That AFC West could be even tougher this year with the Broncos getting back on track if Keenum plays well, and the same with the Raiders bouncing back. A lot of ifs but it could happen. Who knows KC could take a step back with Mahomes going through a learning curve as a first time starter.
The Chargers have a lot of talent on defense, and they drafted Derwin James who should make it even better. Rivers, Gordon, Allen is a nice trio. Also their O-line is very good too.
Mike, yes the Chargers could be good. I was just looking at the AFC West as possibly being a very tough division to make it to the playoffs.
9-7 would be a failure compared to the hype.
Whenever I hear this much unwarranted hype like SD and Chicago are getting I tend to think they won’t be as advertised. The Chargers are having injury issues that usually hurt non-great teams. I also doubt Pouncey does anything, but screws up their OL
As for Chicago, all I’m hearing is Tribisky is going to have a breakout year…based on what, he didn’t look very good last year. Since they lost a lot of close games, this year should be different. How long did it take us a decade ago before we reversed the close loss trend? It doesn’t just reverse based on law of averages, like fumble recoveries.
Bill Barnwell of all people didn’t have us on his list to take a step back this year. In general it was playoff teams and AZ. The obvious Buffalo was on it, but we’re usually his punching bag.
Holy Yit — looks like my Bucs are going for it….. and just 4 games out of the wildcard. That’s two serious talents they gave up.

“The Pittsburgh Pirates pulled off a surprising trade just before Tuesday’s deadline, acquiring pitcher Chris Archer from the Tampa Bay Rays for top prospects Austin Meadows and Tyler Glasnow.”
I frequented those GA seats in the outfield at 3 Rivers, 2 weeks per year, in high school. They were pretty good back then.
What’s GA seats? Thought you were FLA to start. Been to 3 Rivers but just for one real cool weekend. Seems you have been everywhere….. were you an army brat?
Dion Jirdan is on the PUP in Seattle, a stress related issue.
Steve,
9-7 doesn’t match the hype, but you said they’re going to fall on their face. I think they’ll be at least 10-6 and a playoff team

I think Omar is talking abotu Tanny’s throws being behind the receiver. If he throws him behind on a crossing route, then the defender, specifically a Safety or Linebacker can tee off on them crossing their zone.
Only other way i could see a QB getting a receiver killed across the middle is with high throws.
Stanger – Good luck with the Buccos. The Mets, much to my dismay did not sell off any of their pitching assets. I suppose they could still do it in the offseason, but if they keep deGrom for the 2 years and then don’t sign him when his contract is up, I’m going headhunting, because that’s a great formula for being a shitty organization.
BTW – GA seats are General Admission
I don’t know much about Archer, but man did I like Austin Meadows. But on my cheap Pirates skeptical take, part of the trade might be that Archer is under team control for 3 years. Same time we got a 3rd legit playoff starter to throw out if we make it that far.
And thanks on the general admission part. Other than the team that played there 3 Rivers never thrilled me. And see if you can tell the difference in pics btwn the Red’s Riverfront and the Phil’s Vet Stadium. Lots of seat in all though. 🙂
I dunno is SD will be a great team this year but im sure they are going to put an effort towards it, because they are pretty close to having to do the dreaded QB reboot themselves. The Rams look to be all in before that defense goes the way of Seattles, which likely is at the end of 2018, i think SD is in a similar spot but on offense. As good as it is on paper, its has been mediocre on the field and even that status is going to fall off tremendously without Rivers. If they make the playoffs Rivers might hang around but im feeling if the team just cant put it together, he might really consider hanging it up or seeking a trade to a team he might get a SB shot with. He wasnt a fan of the move to LA either.
The season ending injuries to Verrett and Henry weren’t good starts.
Stanger – I really like the Pirates stadium. I think it looks great with the bridges in the background. Very nicely done
Agreed
YOUNG STANGER: Chris Archer has been the best pitcher on the Rays for the last few years. But this year he’s been fighting injuries and inconsistency – – and, clearly, has not been a dominant force in the AL East. Since the Rays have no chance to catch either the Red Sox or the Yankees, cheapskate owner Stu Sternberg is in an “unloading salaries” mood. Meanwhile, he’s asking local politcos to pick up the vast majority of the $900,000,000+ cost of a new 28,000 seat baseball stadium in Ybor city, near the Lightning’s hockey arena. The city is sharply divided on this issue of “Welfare for Billionaires.” Right now, I’d say the chances of this stadium being built are far less than 50-50. But any money the Pirates can kick into the deal would be a plus. But, I gather, it’s just prospects and not money.
Think you are really gonna like Austin Meadows. One of our top young players and really showed it this year when he had time on the team. Only reason he got send down was cause of control the contract issues plus us having a deep outfield.
I met ER tonight at his restaurant, great food, great place, great guy! He took care of us well.
Thanks again ER!
Awesome!
ER really does seem to be a very high quality individual. Happy that ya got to meet him, Bookman!
I still can’t believe that nobody has signed DT Johnathan Hankins. IMO, he’s probably asking for elite money (which he WON’T get, at this point). If he doesn’t become an emergency signing for a team that loses a DT in camp/PS, he could eventually get signed for the veteran minimum.
CRAZY!
Maybe he’s not the same guy he was in the past. You lose a step and you’re not that same guy.
I hear ya, but Hankins is only 26 years old. He looked VERY good last year for the Colts, to boot. Makes me wonder if there’s something going on with him that has not been reported… or perhaps something that I’ve totally missed.
Obviously, he’s not been signed for some kind of reason… and it’s not because he’s lost a step.
He wants 8+ per year, but has battled injuries his entire career. The colts didn’t do him any favors by cutting him after the start of FA.

Well let me tell ya ALL about one Dri… 😉 😀 🙂
I still can’t believe that Dri Archer just fell off the face of the Earth… no rhyme, no reason. $#!t, one would think that he’d at least be running track in an effort for Olympic gold. I hope that cat is doing okay and didn’t resort to drugs/alcohol/otherwise after his NFL experience.
————
OUCH!!!
Thanks Bookman!
Great to meet ya finally. Glad I didn’t have to wait and fly down to the fest for it. LOL
Glad to know your friends are regulars. You keep good company. 🙂
Thanks for the kind words M.
Hey, man… the words you type here are pretty transparent and indicative of your personality, IMO. It’s no surprise to me that you are a good dude in person, my man.
I hope to meet ya one day, Brother! 🙂
Same
You need to get to a fest. I’m about 80% gonna make it this year.
ONE of these years, I WILL make it to a FEST! No can do this year, as my vacations are already set for my sweet fam away from home all over the country.
Perhaps next year… I’d VERY much like to meet most of y’all who I’ve been blogging with for so very long!!! 🙂
