Oh yeah!!! This is the unit that has me excited, because we haven’t had good play at MLB in a while, and this year, Raekwon McMillan is back and ready to be the tackling machine we have missed. I’m not going to count T.J. McDonald, or Minkah Fitzpatrick, or Reshad Jones in this article, but we know they all will be rotating in on passing downs and basically playing nickel LB, whether they officially call it that or not. These 2 things, Raekwon being there to stop run plays, and the combination of the safeties and LB Jerome Baker in coverage make me feel much more confident about our defense going forward. The need for Kiko Alonso to be the guy in coverage is now over, and the Dolphins will be in better hands for it. We’ve seen enough of him unsuccessfully chasing players catching footballs and being a good 5 yards behind them.
We currently have 10 LB’s on the roster, but once we get down to the serious cuts, we’ll probably have only six remaining. Let’s look at what we have, and who I think sticks, and who I think doesn’t.
Kiko Alonso – LB 6’3 239 28YO
Alonso has been a steady performer the Dolphins. He played and started in 15 games in 2016, and all 16 games in 2017. Although he struggles in coverage, he’s been a good player for us. Last year Alonso finished with 115 total tackles (79 solo), along with 2 sacks and 2 FF’s. Kiko will be playing mostly on the weak side which I think is exactly where he belongs. In 2016, he had the huge INT and TD return for 60 yards. I think he’s a little under appreciated here, but he’s been a solid, dependable player.
____________________________________________________
Raekwon McMillan – LB 6’2 248 22YO
Raekwon was injured in the season opener covering the first punt of the year as he collided with teammate Deon Lacey. He tore his ACL, but he is now fully recovered and ready to take the reins of this defense as the defensive signal caller, the MLB. The big 250 LB ran a 4.6 40 at the combine, and he had a very nice career at Ohio St. I think McMillan will be the difference maker in this LB corps. Last year Chase Allen and Mike Hull filled in some, and while Allen flashed some, I don’t think he made the impact that McMillan will for us this season. He’s already shown he’s ready as even early in practices in OTA’s, McMillan was adjusting the defense and putting players in the appropriate position.
____________________________________________________
Stephone Anthony – LB 6’3 245 26YO
The SLB is less set in stone than the WLB and MLB spots are. At the moment, Stephone Anthony is manning the SLB spot, but he may face some competition from rookie Jerome Baker, and possibly even Chase Allen. The former 1st RD pick (#31) of the New Orleans Saints started out as a MLB, but the Saints coaches felt the strain of the mental aspects of the game lessened his play, so they tried to work him at OLB, but after a promising rookie season, his play fell off and then so did his playing time, which made him expendable for a 5th RD pick last season. He will be given every chance to win the job, but he’s going to have to show a little something, because the 5th we spent on acquiring pales when compared to the 3rd we spent on Jerome Baker. This may be the last chance for Anthony to be a starter.
____________________________________________________
Terrence Garvin – LB 6’3 242 27YO
Garvin is basically a ST’s standout. He can also provide depth, but Garvin’s meal ticket is his special teams prowess. Garvin has played for the 3 NFL teams, and at each stop, he’s been the ST’s ace. Garvin was signed in 2013 by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an UDFA. He played 3 seasons for the Steelers, and then was picked up by the Redskins in 2016. Last season he played for the Seattle Seahawks. Garvin has started only 4 games in his 5 year career.
___________________________________________________
Mike Hull – LB 6’0 235 27YO
Hull was signed as an UDFA here in MIA in 2015. Hull appeared in only 3 games as a rookie in 2015, but played in all 16 games in both ’16 and ’17, with 4 starts. Hull plays special teams, so he that’s where his value is, plus he can play MLB in a pinch, but just don’t expect a lot. He will continue to be a special teams player and a backup if he makes the cut.
__________________________________________________
Jerome Baker – LB 6’1 229 21YO
Baker was our 3rd RD pick (#73) in the 2018 NFL Draft. Baker now gives us 2 LB’s drafted from Ohio State (Raekwon McMillan). His strengths are Kiko Alonso’s weakness, but Kiko’s strength is Jerome Baker’s weakness. Kiko is tough playing the run, while Baker struggles to beat and shed blocks in the run game, and gets wiped out too often. Baker’s strength is pass coverage, where he is a bit above average in that regard, and that’s Kiko’s weak point, he doesn’t cover well. A combo of these 2 players would be ideal, but Baker could eventually replace Kiko on the weak side, or he can also displace Stephone Anthony on the strong side. In order to do either of the two, Baker is going to have show more toughness beating blocks and making tough tackles, and continue to show development as a coverage LB. It’s likely Baker is more of a depth player and ST’s player his rookie year, but a strong showing in TC and preseason games could change that quickly. He also will likely get to play some nickel or dime LB if he proves competent in the preseason
_________________________________________________
Chase Allen – LB 6’3 250 25YO
Allen was signed in 2017 as an UDFA. Allen appeared in all 16 games, and was forced to start 4 games due to injuries (McMillan) and cuts (Maualuga). Allen definitely flashed some ability finishing with 33 total tackles (24 solo) along with a FF. He will continue to be a ST’s player, and can provide adequate depth at any of the LB positions.
_________________________________________________
Quentin Poling – LB 6’1 235 24YO
Poling was Miami’s 7th RD pick in the 2018 NFL draft (#227). He is another athletic player, somewhat in the mold of Jerome Baker, but Poling played at Ohio, not Ohio State. He’s a decent cover LB, and likes to chase and tackle. At Ohio, Poling made 43.5 tackles behind the LOS, in addition to 18 sacks, and 7 INT’s. He will have to continue to make those type of plays in the preseason to make the cut. The best chance for Poling to make it would be if the Dolphins don’t see enough from Stephone Anthony, which is a possibility. Right now I’d give him an outside shot, but if Hull or Anthony or Allen are cut, that could give Poling the in.
________________________________________________
Frank Ginda – LB 6’0 245 21YO
Frank Ginda was signed a week ago as an UDFA. he was signed right after LB Mike McCray unexpectedly decided to retire from the NFL. Ginda was a fine player at San Jose St. Last season, Ginda finished with 173 total tackles (94 solo) which led the NCAA in tackles. He shows good instincts, and always flows to the ball. He needs to work on shedding tackles, but Ginda is a player. He’s somewhat of a longshot, but if he can show the same type of play he had at San Jose St, he might be a surprise roster invitee.
________________________________________________
So that’s the LB’s, and again, I’m pretty enthusiastic about this group. I can’t wait to see Raekwon manning the middle, and I’m encouraged that if Stephone Anthony doesn’t step up his game, the Dolphins have at least 2-3 guys that can replace him and give us something.

Stanger, I’m sure Baker will see some nickel maybe even some base. A lot will depend on opponents and matchups.
Yeah, I think we’ll see Baker in both nickel and dime, at some point, depending on how quickly he gets it.
What’s nice about how they have the D set-up. And if a team is going run heavy they could throw Anthony in there, which would spread the LB snaps even more.
Allen too. He’s definitely in the mix.
Does this comment on Omar’s stock up list mean he is scared or trying to take credit for making Phillips play better?
“DT Jordan Phillips, who began practice working with the second-team defense for the first time all camp, dominated backup centers Mike Matthews and Connor Hilland all practice, producing at least three tackles for loss. It was clearly Phillips’ most active day of training camp.”

I think we found one of those UDFA OL from 2015 who bounced around between SEA and NYJ a bit and he’s now hitting his stride with us. There’s a lot of them out there. He’s got the size and ability but he needed to polish his game. Sometimes if rookies are that raw they go undrafted. Back in the day he might of have been an 8th or 9th rd pick etc.
———————————————-
I wouldnt have thought there would be a lot of UDFA OL from 2015 who bounced around between SEA and NYJ a bit that are now hitting their stride with us. Thats a awful lot of filtering for there to still be a lot of them left out there.
No I mean UDFA OL who have become good players, not just 2015. The highest paid guard in FA this year was Andrew Norwell who was a UDFA in 2014. Just saying UDFAs and late rd picks have become quality starting guards over the years. It’s cool that we might have found one being we haven’t had much success drafting them.

I’ve always wanted to have a food truck with sushi made with non-Japanese ingredients.
—————————————
Pretty sure sushi isnt Japanese ingredients….. Fish, rice…. not exclusively Japanese.
The process of preparing it is totally Japanese, the vinegared rice, the rolling process.
perhaps he should have said “traditional” ingredients to prevent semantic arguments…..
Semantics? No semantics. Can an animal, fish, vegetable or grain be classified as a particular cuisine? You can identify certain things as common in a particular cuisine, but can’t say it’s Mexican, or Japanese, or Italian etc . . .

I think we found one of those UDFA OL from 2015 who bounced around…….
I remember when a guard by the name of Even Mathis came up as a free agent 3-4 years ago and he was one of the most sought after / highest paid FA guards on the market.
I also remember when he was on the dolphins in 2008 and we cut him…..
He was a 3rd rd pick though, drafted by the Panthers in 2005. He didn’t really emerge as a top guard until later in his career.
we signed him when Donald Thomas got hurt and then cut him 7 games later.
Yes but he probably wasn’t the player he became at that time. He really took off with PHI.
Yup, Mathis wasn’t great out of the box, he got better over time until he became a pro-bowl guard. I’m hoping some of our young guys do it again, but this time we have the foresight to keep them.
or even better, the coaching to transform them!!!
Jesse Davis maybe? Hopefully . . .

Semantics? No semantics
My response was to D who was using semantics. Sb7 said sushi made with non-Japanese ingredient that got the reply from D saying there are no “japanese” ingredients. I was just saying if he had said “non-traditional” ingredients instead of “non-japanese” ingredients then D would not have had a semantic argument.
Ah, now that makes sense.
RT17 threw some INTs in practice? Well screw it, season is over before it started. Oh well….talk to you all in about a year I guess.
but to answer your direct question “Can an animal, fish, vegetable or grain be classified as a particular cuisine?” in some cases yes. does ANY other culture ferment cabbage to create kimchi? or is it strictly a Korean dish? Cabbage isn’t a paticular cuisine, but kimchi certainly is. (just the easiest example I could come up with on the fly, who else eats sea urchin eggs, other than the Japanese?)
The Chinese seem to eat anything.
Yeaaaaaaaaah, but fermenting is a “process”, so we’re back to that again. The cabbage in and of itself isn’t any more Korean than it is Irish.
Look at the spit fly! He is an excitable fellow isn’t he?
he looks as if he’s been hang’n with foerster???
Wait, what? Is that Omar defending Tannehill? Someone send out a search party. Omar has been kidnapped and replaced on twitter with an impostor!
You misread it, he’s fallin’ so in love with Howard that he’s more in love with Howard than he hates Ryan.
It’s been an all-too-common issue throughout the Lou Anarumo years, to be honest.
The entire back end seemed to have a lot of communication issues last year. There were so many plays where it seemed like guys left areas of the field wide open. That’s gotta stop.
A poblano or guajillo pepper can be Mexican, or it can be grown in New Jersey, and therefore is no longer Mexican, right?
and if you cut off a pigs nuts in NJ would they still be considered mountain oysters?
It depends on what language they speak.
does italian sausage go “oinka…..oinka…?
yes, and rice wine can be made anywhere. Is Sake not Japanese? is Bratwurst not German? is champagne not French?
Like I said, identified with certain cuisines, but not belonging to or called Mexican or Japanese or German or Irish.
The rice isn’t Japanese though, but the end product they make with it is, which is what I said from the start! 🙂
Howard has it according to Omar.
Pennywise the Clown has IT according to me
BEEP, BEEP, Mike E!!! 😀
Omar IS pennywise according to Phillips
#Clown!
LMAO! YES!!
LOL, you’ve not seen or read ‘IT’, have you? Omar isn’t even in the same star-system as Pennywise! 😀
M – Did I tell you I finally watched the new IT? Watched it with my son. I liked it, it was pretty good. My son was telling me something I don’t recall from the first IT, that there was basically a gangbang in the pipe of Beverly because she told the boys the only way they can beat Pennywise is if each of them made love to her. Do you recall it like that? I think I remember them all kissing her maybe, but I don’t remember it like he described it. Do you?
That ‘gang-banging’ scene was from the BOOK… not from the original movie.
I’m glad you liked the new “IT”!
Oh, OK. Yeah, I mean Stephen King has some disturbing things in his books, “The Library Policeman” tops it for me. That was F’ed UP!!!
Omar was referencing “the glow” for the horribly bad 1985 movie “The Last Dragon”. God that was a bad movie, I am not surprised Omar references it though.
You guys… LOL
I’ll defer to ER when it comes to the culinary arts, but there IS a YUGE difference between Japanese food vs others in the far-East. And yes (NOT kidding, not one bit)… my Aunt was born in Japan and is a 5-star chef.
MF13, I saw the original “it” I haven’t seen the remake. I was just playing along with MikeE, it referenced “IT” but I was referring to Jordan’s tweet this morning where he called out Omar for being a pussy and not saying anything to his face after dissing him on twitter yesterday. He ended his tweet with #clown. (I can’t make the clown emoji appear on my laptop)
ALL GOOD, Brother! Just sayin’… ‘IT’ (Pennywise) was a cerebral KILLER. I think Omar would be more favorably compared to ‘Bozo the Clown’ or ‘Ronald McDonald’! 😀 😉
Went out to the store and heard Crowder talking Omar and Phillips…. with some actual sense.
He said Omar dogged him for years about not being able TE’s, and Crowder was like “didn’t even try to explain to him not my job in the scheme…. cause only had them for 10 yards before the safety came into play.”
Channing also said “bad move by Phillips though…. the coaches decide whether you play or not and don’t care what Omar thinks…. might care about you going after him though.”
Clanning Chowder has been BFFs with Omar for YEARS. Take what Chowder says with a grain of salt. OF COURSE Chowder is going to side with Omar! This is all sideshow (like clowns do), of course.
I hear Crowder all the time on QAM. Didn’t take it as him siding with Omar…. thought it more like “he don’t know football like us guys that do it do.”
YES!!! 😆
He’s not penny-wise, nor worth a $.

Everything is a style of food. Not a particular ingredient. Even that the lines are blurred from what would have been traditional 40-50 years ago. The world has opened up and enough of us different ethnicities have gotten together and fused it all together. It’s a win win.

I didn’t like the new IT. Thought it was over the top visually like many horror films and not creepy like the original.
I liked the new IT, but i think the original was better, i think it was scarier and i thinkit was more true to the books. That said, i never try to compare new vs old, etc because there are too many factors that are in play that change how you feel about a new one. I think it was creepy, but not overly scary.
The original was better, but to be fair, it was like a 5 part miniseries, so it’s hard to compare

See im a little different, since IT was something that manifests itself as things someone else is scared of, the graphical representation of what they saw being good to me is clearer as to why they were so terrified by it. I dont think ya watch movies for improing those details, you read the book and let your imagination create how terrifying it was. I deinately thing think the acting job by Tim Curry as PennyWise was better, but Bill Skarsgard did a good job making him really creepy. I feel like the new Penny Wise had a real child molester creepiness to him, which changed the creepiness, but it was still really creepy.

I agree, in general! Seems that Hollywood has absolutely lost the ‘creepy’ aspect, in exchange for glamorous CGI effects.
I felt as though the storytelling was WEAK, compared to the original. In the original, one could really feel each and every character (character development). This new one seemed rushed, over-the-top (as you stated), and didn’t have the human element reinforced.
Still… the projector film part gives me the CREEPS!!! That part was WELL DONE (IMO)!!!
Character development was much weaker, but they also had to cram it into 2hrs 15 minutes. The miniseries went on much longer than that
That’s basically what I mean. I like creepy but over the top super natural CGIs have taken over and it’s played to me. Like all the horror films that use those shutter effects. Okay seen it already, overkill.
Now this character freaked me the fuck out. I just got chills when I looked for it to post. LOL

All these new fusion restaurants have blurred the lines.
What really separates food is geographical , and usually due to what spices were abundant in the area and what proteins. You have nuanced difference Inside each spice grouping like preparation styles and regional differences, like being heavy on the heat or how the meat it marinated and prepared. Still you aren’t going to find these so separated out these days unless your eating at some sort of purist restaurant.
Americans especially want diversity in the menus so they can go to one place to get everything they like, i dont like it much because i think you are losing some of the cultural aspects from your dining experience.
So the biggest debate today is over what I mean by Japanese ingredients. lol. What’s funny is I originally typed Asian, then changed it to Japanese to avoid the debates that tend to happen on here. Goes to show ya’ll will argue anything.
As far as It, my 8 year old has never seen either movie, but her friends have and they’re always trying to scare her with Pennywise talk. When we were in Virginia looking for apartments, we were about to head into the hotel for the evening and there was a red balloon on the ground near a storm drain. No lie. Well, the 8 year old thought it would be funny to tell my 3 year old that Pennywise the killer clown was there and was going to get her. No sooner had the words come out of her mouth, that a gust of wind picked up the balloon and sent it towards the 8yo. LOL. I’ve never seen her move to fast in my life. I couldn’t stop laughing.

It freaked me out in the movie so I guess it stuck with me. LOL
I liked that film, it had that feel of evil in it and you never knew what was going to happen. The little girl who gets possessed in it was very good. Both films are based on real events.
Thanks, man! I LOVE those types of films. I WILL be watching ‘The Conjuring’, I and II.
Zelda and her bony back scared me visually more than most things in film. Just freaked me out.

I believe M13 knows the guy who played that character.
He sure does. I don’t know if I could continue being friends with that guy if it were me. LOL
To KNOW Andy as a person, you’d NEVER believe that he’d played the part of Zelda! INCREDIBLE actor!
Tim – I don’t want to ruin it if M is going to read it. Just very disturbing.
Gotcha!
Both the conjuring movies are pretty solid. Conjuring 2 is Enfield Haunting in the UK, which is their version of Amityville, apparently a poltergeist possessed a girl living there and haunted the dwelling. The Warrens (Ed and Lorraine) werent supposedly as involved as the movie indicates, but the did investigate the house and the family and determined they felt the claims were real. The Conjuring was from a haunting in Harrisville RI they investigated. Amityville reboot, and the two Anabelle movies are based on their stories too.
Valac is also supposed to be a winged demonic child that rides on a two headed dragon. The reason they came up with that image of him was that Lorraine Warren said that when she was either investigating hauntings or even after, that Valac would appear in her dreams as a hooded figure shrouded in mist and they came up with that image of the demonic nun as something closely relating to her vision.
Conjuring 3 is set to come out soon as well i think.
It’s all hogwash!
D, films always take on artistic license for entertainment purposes. But I agree both films were good and entertaining. Creepy as well. LOL

Thank you for that let me know .. i dont see them going UP anymore, but with Hotels and drive i also dont want to depend on Parking Lot Tix .. noamsayn ?

I will keep my eyes and ears open. Still trying to wrangle some myself possibly. I know someone who has 2 that may sell them.
There’s football on TV woohooo
The new kickoff with no run up looks retarded
There is so much money involved now they are watering down the game for safety. I get it, but it doesn’t make for a better game.
You Gyz watching HOF game???
Been suggesting all off-season that the new receiving team KO alignment sounds like it’ll make an on sides kick easier, and/or better odds for the kicking team to recover..
That how it looks to anybody else???
Kicking team has 11 guys within 10 yard on side kick mark, receiving team only 6 and not allowed to lineup at 10 yard mark unlike before when they could along with their other 4- 5 teamates…
I see more on sides surprise KO’s coming in o18…
The need for speed on STs will change rosters.
Yep, and the good hands guys are gonna have to be that front receiving team 6 to 8 on every KO..
Minimal big boys on KO, pure speed, hands, and tacklers/DB’s more so than even the next big boys/LB’s..
There’s something that looks a bit like football on TV.
🤷♀️
RG3 looked good this evening. Can’t wait to see Lamar Jackson in the 2nd half.
Thanks Bookman and ER… 👍👍
Ravens LB Correa stood out. Playing like a man among boys
👍👍
I saw the game and he made some plays, but I wasn’t impressed. I thought Dion Sims looked horrible, but he’s a vet, so…he barely tried to knock the ball down on the Correa int, in a fashion that would’ve gotten him chewed out in a regular season game.
The worst thing I saw last night was Tyler Brea on 3rd and long, late in the 4th, fall on a bad snap with no one around him. Come on man, you gotta pick it up and try to be a play maker.
Not big into Horror movies , but the Ring was a great Creepy movie.. only saw the original It within the last year, i enjoyed it .. may catch the new one on demand after second part comes out
YES!!! I really like “The Ring”! Creeped me the hell out!
I believe that was one of the first shutter effect films.

The 1990 miniseries was just over 3 hours long for the full story. The new movie only told half the story at 2hrs 15min. The 2nd half will probably be the same, so the new version has over 4 hrs of run time. (I only know this because I watched both versions in the last week.)
I much prefer the 1990 version. Tim Curry’s ‘Robert Gray’ was much scarier than Skarsgard’s IMO. Skarsgards version just kinda seemed too standard for me (purely personal taste). I thought the kids were fantastic in the new version. The acting was way better overall in the new version. I guess I just prefer the way the story is told in the 1990 version.
In some ways the new version was much truer to the book, but both versions took artistic liberties. I’m really glad they left out the sewer orgy scene in both. I understand the purpose of it in a story telling sense, but King just gets too graphic with the kid sex for me. I have no desire to read what 11 Y/Os are thinking and feeling in that moment (in King’s mind). It’s just too weird for my sensibilities. I always skip that scene when I read the book.
What I don’t get is why the new version is taking two years to produce between part 1 and part 2. The 2nd part doesn’t release until September next year. The kid actors are going to age quite a bit in that time, and the kid part of the story takes place over one summer, so how the heck is that going to work?
I would guess that part is already filmed, but what do i know 🤔. Heard if it being done in others that were geared for sequels .. even How i Met Yer Mother …the kids on the couch never aged over the years , i think that was all filmed in season 1
I don’t know why that never occurred to me. That makes perfect sense. lol
😎🤔
Bro, the second part of ‘IT’ will feature the characters as 40-year olds. The kid actors won’t be a part of the second part.
The director said the kids element in chapter 2 won’t just be throwbacks, but will actually be integral to the 2nd story and a big part of the action.
MF , i saw the Ring in theatre with an old GF, watched it with my kids later and also Current Wife after that even, i hid my cell phone with their #’s predialed until the appropriate moment and hit dial.. worked great both times 🤡
LMAO!
NICE!
A week after theatre the GF dyed her hair black.. she walked past a mirror that was always in the same place and caught a passing reflection of herself and damn near had a heart attack
LOL Toba
You guys ever see this one?
I saw that a year or so after the Ring , i thought they looked similar, didnt do much for me though ..
Correa again .. was he mocked to us a lot last year ? Name looks very familiar
Looks like Carroo
Lol , makes a lot plays though unlike ….. 😮

OH! Didn’t realize that! Thanks, man!
NOW I understand the conundrum that you spoke of, up the board!
And now I understand Manitoba… that it was likely filmed already, to be added to the second part of the movie.
Its sometimes annoying being so Logical 🤪
No prob, bro. Maybe they show the kids a year or so later and how events have affected them (although that wasn’t part of the original story). Or like Toba said, maybe they already have it filmed.
I’m sure they have it figured. lol, I think I’m mostly just annoyed I have to wait two years to complete the story.
RIGHT?!! LOL
Right there with ya, CavKong! I don’t want to have to wait that long, either!
I probably wouldn’t survivie if I had to wait two years for Infinity War 2.
Yeah kinda like Lord of The Rings taking 8 years (or whatever) to complete the story… then pulling out two part Prequel over another 3 years .. 😡
Dr. Doom! Loved the character, and congrats to Robert Brazile!
He seems to be the type of coach that is a line guy and says enough with going through the motions, get after it!
YUP!!! And I like that about Kocurek!
Mannn face to face tackling, or penalty for helmet contact incidents…
Jimminny FrickenCrickets income of these helmet to helmet tackles!!!
on some = income
Don’t even have to be head to head, lower helmet for initial contact to any part of body = penalty
Getting tougher and tougher to be aggressive
Guess that THill being suggested to throw receivers into career ending situations might extend drives with these helmet contact rules, if nothing else does…
Well i guess thats one way to get everyone involved 🤔
LOL 😝
They better get these flags out of their system in the preseason.
They might as well go to flag football…..
Tyler Bray… man, ya didn’t see your wide open RB to the right side on the 2-point conversion? Sheesh! SMH
I think footballs funner to watch when Ya don’t give a crap about who F’s up on every given play!!!
GOFINS!!!
Or when watching a replay of a recent Dolphin VICTORY!!!
Can’t disagree with ya, KV!
The new kickoff rules should decrease the number of onside kicks, not increase them. The defenders still get to line up at the 10 yd mark, but the kicking team doesn’t get a running start anymore. Losing the running start means it takes longer for them to get under the ball, decreasing their chances at recovery.
No Bro Kong, receiving team can’t lineup at 10 yard mark,
Have yet to see receiving team front 6-8 lineup within 10 yards of tee!!!
and only 6 have been lining up at 15 yards from Tee…
Even if 8 line up 15 from tee with three deep…
There will be holes to pooch ball into…
KO game is gonna offer up a lot of different nuances…
Vs 11 on kicking team who Yea doesn’t get a running start,
But with only 6 receiving team guys having to run forward 5 yards to that 10 yard OSK area, there’s gonna be holes to putt the ball into….
No big guys either so it’s gonna be a game of finesse, ((((according to what I’ve been watching)))), IMHO!!!
Collingsworth even said as I’ve been suggesting all off-season..
That the collisions on KO might even be moreso than in the past, cuz rather than the kicking team running full speed for 15 yards (with old head start rule) toward stationary KO receiving team (10 yard from tee) they now will run full speed for just 10 yards (on OSK), while the receiving team will be running forward 5 yards
Hence a train going head in ten yards vs a train coming head on 5 yards…
Rather than a train goin 15 yards into a stationary object!!!
LOL. Not sure what you were watching, bro. They’ve been lining up about 11 yards off. There is even a yellow line designating the 10 yd mark.
You and I went around and around on this a couple of months ago. The charts and rules explain it. Nothing stops the receiving team from lining up outside the 10 yards mark. They just can’t block until the 15 yard mark unless the ball hits the ground first (like if the kicker pops the ball up off the ground on an onside kick.).
I know we went around and around, LOL!!!
However it ends up being…
The receiving team can’t line up 10 guys anywhere near the 10 yard OSK mark, at most they can only put 8 vs 11 within however many yards of the tee……
Bro, I just watched the replay of every KO, and on every one the receiving team closest to the tee players had their rear foot 15 yards from the tee, only their front foot came within 14 yards of tee on every KO, (ACCEPT THE LAST WITHIN THE 3 MINUTE MARK)..
I don’t know why every receiving team player had their rear foot planted at 15 yard mark on every KO but the last when they actually were within “”12 yards””” of tee..
Maybe they feel that 15/14 yards away is better unless an OSK is more likely?? Maybe it’s a time of game thing where their allowed to play closer to the tee because of higher OSK possibilities??
Or maybe they can do it as you suggest on every KO??
I found it odd that the front however many receiving team guys all had their rear foot PLANTED on the 15 yard from tee mark on every kick other than the final kick which was the one and only time they pulled up within 12 of the tee while becoming obvious even to me that at some point of the games if not its entirety,””the KO receiving team CAN be closer than 15 from tee”””!!!
I got home late, watched recording of game was about a hour and a half behind, didn’t see the final KO till in the midst of this reply… So, I guess you win, LOL 😁!!!
Either way, I think the new KO alignment rules are gonna alter many a KO, Pooch, or OSK Putt options/strategies…
Can’t wait for the next 6.5 days to pass,
GOFINS!!!
Lmao
Well it was really nice to have some Football to watch and discuss tonight.. cant wait until Its Our Turn.. although we have to wait 2-3 days after the game is played to see it
I’m still ticked off they took away the preseason package on NFL.com.
On line was available live ?
Yep, up till last year, you could pay $20 for the 4 preseason weeks live on NFL.com. Now you have to buy the season pass for $100 (I think) and you get preseason included. No option for just preseason.
Should be a free service for anyone who buys Sunday ticket.. although i must say i am VERY happy to have ST back via my cable company,, watching through the Net last year Sucked Balls … i will be some pissed if they lose the rights again after redoing the basement, and hanging 3 – 65 inch tvs on the wall for Sunday enjoyment 🏈🏈🏈.
Now if the contractor could get it finished before kick off would also be a bonus ..
We really should get it with the ticket. Even so, I was moderately ok with ponying up the $20, but now $100 for preseason? Forget it!
I know i missed the 1st 10 mins tonight , but to be honest i don’t remember a kick off.. maybe next game i will pay a but more attention 😴
LOL at paying a Butt. 😆
🤡🤔😱
Sup Dog
Yeah 100.00 for preseason is a bit nutty.
To be fair, you get the entire season pass which has things like coaches video and other stuff, but I don’t care about that. I just don’t want to watch the preseason game 4 days later, lol.
Im totally with ya,, i try to avoid this place after PS games until i can see it but i Miss Y’all too much, then i have three days of Ajayi vs Drake and Tannehill sux to catch up on 😎
LOL, Yeah once the season starts maybe we’ll be able to collectively expand the topics, but I’m not holding my breath. As long as we’re winning it’ll be fun though. 🙂
13kv, maybe we should be talking alcohol intake tonight instead of the kickoffs. 🙂
Did you not see the yellow line marking the 10 yds distance, and the receiving team lining up behind that line on kickoffs?
I didn’t see all the kickoffs, only the last 2, but they both had the yellow line (like a first down line), and the receiving team lined up the same, about 11-12 yards off, right behind the 10 yard marker.
I’m sure someone recorded the game tonight. Can we get a sober 3rd party decision on this, lol.
Kong, I replied (probably better than here), where we were before…
Yea, saw yellow line, line that always been there to mark point of where OSK can be recovered…
Otherwise, I didn’t see what you saw except for on final kick within 3 minute to go mark, as I suggested above at where we were before…
But I guess that if they can pull up within 12 at that point I’d imagine that they could do it all game long…
Even though, (other than on the final kick),
I saw every receiving team member closer to the tee
with their rear foot PLANTED at the 15 yard from tee mark…
But Yea, according to the final KO, they can indeed pull up within the yellow line area!!!
So, it’s become obvious to even me that I’m wrong,
according to that one final KO, you’re right Bro!!!
As I said above I watched the recording of the game wad an hour and a half behind, didn’t see that one final (deciding factor for me) KO till I was posting reply where we were TALKIN before!!!
You can put my case to rest!!!
Though I still believe that the new alignment rules will play a big part in KO options/strategies!!! Receiving team at most can field just 8 vs 11 near 10 yard OSK area. There’s gonna be holes to be had whether it be on dribblers. Or pooch KO’s!!!
GOFINS!!!
Its actually on NFLN right now lol
lol. Just started watching. I can find out if I am far more drunk than I realized. And they’re going to kick off in a minute.
Td Balt .. KO coming up
Balt on los, bears 15 and23 yards off los
Everyone ran same direction
Balt is kicking from the 35, the Bears are lined up exactly at the 49. 14 yds.
*clarification* Bears are lined up at the Balt 49.
Correa AGAIN … lmao
Another KO coming up
So that time they lined up 14 yds away, definitely inside the 15 yd marker. That shows they don’t have to line up 15 yds or more. And like I said, the last two I saw they lined up much closer to the marker about 11-12 yds off.
So exactly how far they line up off the 10 yd mark will be situational, just like it’s always been.
I rewound , you were correct on 14 yds
And 14 yds in 2bd kick
Whew. Thank you. I thought I was on crazy pills, lmao.
Again. Bears line up at Balt 49.
14 yds away.
Rereading above I believe you are both correct though.. semantics
We’ve debated this a couple of times. He thinks the receiving team has to line up 15 yds back. I’ve consistently maintained they can line up right behind the 10 yd mark.
After seeing these kickoffs, I do think the 15 yd blocking rule may make them line up a yd or two back further than they might otherwise. But teams can adjust and line up closer to the 10 yd line if they need to so if necessary they will.
Receiving team Could line up 15 yds off and run 5 yds toward the 10 yd OSK line, and the kicking team would be running 10 towards it
Anywho… im off ta bed.. have good night people
Night, Toba!
13kv,
Responding to your last post above, bro.
I think you have a valid point. The changes will still impact the kicking game some, and teams may need to adjust. As you mention above, they lined up consistently right on the 14/15 mark until the last one (i thought it was the last two, but I’ll take you’re word it was just the last one).
Since the receiving team can’t block until the 15 yd mark, the players may be lining up a couple yards back from where they previously would have, because they don’t want to be moving backwards too much to get to the 15 yd mark and start blocking. Instead of lining up 12 back, maybe they line up 14 back. And in possible onside kick situations maybe they line 11-12 like they do at the end of this game.
I’m pretty sure that’s what Toba meant by we were both right. We both had elements of it. So nobody wins or we both do, lol!
I’m off to bed. As always, everything said is in fun. Enjoyed bantering.
Cheers!
LOL, I AGREE, Cheers Bro 😁!!!
AGREE WITH THIS
GOFINS!!!
smell that?……
FOOTBALL’S IN THE AIR!!!
pick it off or knock it down!
KNOCK IT DOWN!
(I played CB as a kid)
Does anyone know who the “practice referees” are and where they come from? Are they members of the coaching staff? Offensive or defensive assistants? Do the team all hire guys to do only referee stuff during practice? What is the deal?
In Peewee football, if you were a kid who could run fast and tackle but couldn’t catch worth a damn….you were a corner back. LOL
“smaller kid”
Smaller kid, Yea me too Rock, was the fastest kid in the league, played RB in pee wee years from 5-10 at 5-6 years old (64-65)..
64 played for I don’t even remember the team name, but 64 was the year that Miami was granted an NFL franchise, in 65 the Dolphins were officially named the Dolphins and my team took that name, I played for them until I was 10..
Then a mandatory move up to Pop Warner 145 pounders while I was still small even for peewee,
So coach asked me do you want to be handed the ball and run for TD’s or you wanna take the ball away and run for TD’s, I said I wanna do both, he said though your fast & quick but your too small to play RB vs 145 plus plunders, so I played WR & CB and on my first ever defensive play I coaxed the QB into a screen pass, made him think I wasn’t looking, he threw it I broke on it and took it 67 the other way, got penalized for spiking the ball, coach was right it was funner to take the ball away, or catch and score than it was being handed to for score!!!
AHHH, those were the days, can remember as though it were yestetday, played in all league’s from Pee Wee through sophomore in HS when I dropped out cuz I became ineligible for football cuz I never went to class, only went to school cuz I loved sports (played Baseball, soccer, football) & girls…
Moved to Ca, went back to school, walked on to HS team, played but had finally grown and lost some overall speed due to size and partying, but still jitterbug quick… But this time I was in HS to graduate and meet girls from where I had just moved to…
I fell in love with, and became a hardcore Dolphin fan a year if not two years before the professional team ever took the field…
I remember in 64 watching the 6 o’clock sports with my dad, and they announced that Miami was granted an NFL team, and my dad and I went Nutts, he played for the Canes for two years until my birth ruined his dreams and he had to get a real job times two…

Shut up Mondo.
I think I will just leave this here:
Said Gesicki: “If you label yourself an athletic tight end, which I do, all you want is for the ball to be thrown in your direction. After that, it’s up to me, and I don’t care if it’s one hand, two hands, whatever, I’m going to do everything I can to go get it.”
That’s what I said yesterday – I don’t know much about this blocking thing, just throw me the damn ball!
to which coach said “Get Smythe in here!! YOU, go sit down”
Andy Cohen is good at his job.
Dishing the Kool Aide
Gesicki gazes out toward that empty practice field. “I was brought in to make an impact here,” he says. “And I’m excited for that opportunity.”
After seeing how he has grown in just one week, and after watching some of those catches, it sure seems like he’s well on his way to making the most of it.
