Oh yeah!!! This is the unit that has me excited, because we haven’t had good play at MLB in a while, and this year, Raekwon McMillan is back and ready to be the tackling machine we have missed. I’m not going to count T.J. McDonald, or Minkah Fitzpatrick, or Reshad Jones in this article, but we know they all will be rotating in on passing downs and basically playing nickel LB, whether they officially call it that or not. These 2 things, Raekwon being there to stop run plays, and the combination of the safeties and LB Jerome Baker in coverage make me feel much more confident about our defense going forward. The need for Kiko Alonso to be the guy in coverage is now over, and the Dolphins will be in better hands for it. We’ve seen enough of him unsuccessfully chasing players catching footballs and being a good 5 yards behind them.
We currently have 10 LB’s on the roster, but once we get down to the serious cuts, we’ll probably have only six remaining. Let’s look at what we have, and who I think sticks, and who I think doesn’t.
Kiko Alonso – LB 6’3 239 28YO
Alonso has been a steady performer the Dolphins. He played and started in 15 games in 2016, and all 16 games in 2017. Although he struggles in coverage, he’s been a good player for us. Last year Alonso finished with 115 total tackles (79 solo), along with 2 sacks and 2 FF’s. Kiko will be playing mostly on the weak side which I think is exactly where he belongs. In 2016, he had the huge INT and TD return for 60 yards. I think he’s a little under appreciated here, but he’s been a solid, dependable player.
____________________________________________________
Raekwon McMillan – LB 6’2 248 22YO
Raekwon was injured in the season opener covering the first punt of the year as he collided with teammate Deon Lacey. He tore his ACL, but he is now fully recovered and ready to take the reins of this defense as the defensive signal caller, the MLB. The big 250 LB ran a 4.6 40 at the combine, and he had a very nice career at Ohio St. I think McMillan will be the difference maker in this LB corps. Last year Chase Allen and Mike Hull filled in some, and while Allen flashed some, I don’t think he made the impact that McMillan will for us this season. He’s already shown he’s ready as even early in practices in OTA’s, McMillan was adjusting the defense and putting players in the appropriate position.
____________________________________________________
Stephone Anthony – LB 6’3 245 26YO
The SLB is less set in stone than the WLB and MLB spots are. At the moment, Stephone Anthony is manning the SLB spot, but he may face some competition from rookie Jerome Baker, and possibly even Chase Allen. The former 1st RD pick (#31) of the New Orleans Saints started out as a MLB, but the Saints coaches felt the strain of the mental aspects of the game lessened his play, so they tried to work him at OLB, but after a promising rookie season, his play fell off and then so did his playing time, which made him expendable for a 5th RD pick last season. He will be given every chance to win the job, but he’s going to have to show a little something, because the 5th we spent on acquiring pales when compared to the 3rd we spent on Jerome Baker. This may be the last chance for Anthony to be a starter.
____________________________________________________
Terrence Garvin – LB 6’3 242 27YO
Garvin is basically a ST’s standout. He can also provide depth, but Garvin’s meal ticket is his special teams prowess. Garvin has played for the 3 NFL teams, and at each stop, he’s been the ST’s ace. Garvin was signed in 2013 by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an UDFA. He played 3 seasons for the Steelers, and then was picked up by the Redskins in 2016. Last season he played for the Seattle Seahawks. Garvin has started only 4 games in his 5 year career.
___________________________________________________
Mike Hull – LB 6’0 235 27YO
Hull was signed as an UDFA here in MIA in 2015. Hull appeared in only 3 games as a rookie in 2015, but played in all 16 games in both ’16 and ’17, with 4 starts. Hull plays special teams, so he that’s where his value is, plus he can play MLB in a pinch, but just don’t expect a lot. He will continue to be a special teams player and a backup if he makes the cut.
__________________________________________________
Jerome Baker – LB 6’1 229 21YO
Baker was our 3rd RD pick (#73) in the 2018 NFL Draft. Baker now gives us 2 LB’s drafted from Ohio State (Raekwon McMillan). His strengths are Kiko Alonso’s weakness, but Kiko’s strength is Jerome Baker’s weakness. Kiko is tough playing the run, while Baker struggles to beat and shed blocks in the run game, and gets wiped out too often. Baker’s strength is pass coverage, where he is a bit above average in that regard, and that’s Kiko’s weak point, he doesn’t cover well. A combo of these 2 players would be ideal, but Baker could eventually replace Kiko on the weak side, or he can also displace Stephone Anthony on the strong side. In order to do either of the two, Baker is going to have show more toughness beating blocks and making tough tackles, and continue to show development as a coverage LB. It’s likely Baker is more of a depth player and ST’s player his rookie year, but a strong showing in TC and preseason games could change that quickly. He also will likely get to play some nickel or dime LB if he proves competent in the preseason
_________________________________________________
Chase Allen – LB 6’3 250 25YO
Allen was signed in 2017 as an UDFA. Allen appeared in all 16 games, and was forced to start 4 games due to injuries (McMillan) and cuts (Maualuga). Allen definitely flashed some ability finishing with 33 total tackles (24 solo) along with a FF. He will continue to be a ST’s player, and can provide adequate depth at any of the LB positions.
_________________________________________________
Quentin Poling – LB 6’1 235 24YO
Poling was Miami’s 7th RD pick in the 2018 NFL draft (#227). He is another athletic player, somewhat in the mold of Jerome Baker, but Poling played at Ohio, not Ohio State. He’s a decent cover LB, and likes to chase and tackle. At Ohio, Poling made 43.5 tackles behind the LOS, in addition to 18 sacks, and 7 INT’s. He will have to continue to make those type of plays in the preseason to make the cut. The best chance for Poling to make it would be if the Dolphins don’t see enough from Stephone Anthony, which is a possibility. Right now I’d give him an outside shot, but if Hull or Anthony or Allen are cut, that could give Poling the in.
________________________________________________
Frank Ginda – LB 6’0 245 21YO
Frank Ginda was signed a week ago as an UDFA. he was signed right after LB Mike McCray unexpectedly decided to retire from the NFL. Ginda was a fine player at San Jose St. Last season, Ginda finished with 173 total tackles (94 solo) which led the NCAA in tackles. He shows good instincts, and always flows to the ball. He needs to work on shedding tackles, but Ginda is a player. He’s somewhat of a longshot, but if he can show the same type of play he had at San Jose St, he might be a surprise roster invitee.
________________________________________________
So that’s the LB’s, and again, I’m pretty enthusiastic about this group. I can’t wait to see Raekwon manning the middle, and I’m encouraged that if Stephone Anthony doesn’t step up his game, the Dolphins have at least 2-3 guys that can replace him and give us something.

Man – You guys are hardcore. Watching Bears vs Ravens in preseason, that’s fucking desperate for football! LOL
I could only stomach 10 minutes before I started flipping channels.
Anyone know how Jackson played last night?
and only because we play the bears this year so I had a modicum of interest.
Jackson has a certain ut oh to him every time he drops back, if you’re the defense, so you have to consciously keep track of him, but his play was up and down at best. He’s not close by any stretch to start over Flacco.
He’s your typical running QB with a big arm, more elusive than fast. His passes seemed a little wobbly and off target some, but I always had that feeling that a big play was about to happen.
OK, practice was supposed to start 12 mins ago. Where are the tweets you twits?

Didn’t his father play in the league as well?
I have no idea, Naples.
That’s a whole lot more than dangling him out to put fire in Tank and Lippett. Sounds like three true horses in the race.
Thank you all for reposting these. I am starving for news on the Dolphins. I am reading so many good things above. Fingers crossed that this is the turning point for Miami not being the joke team any more.

According to Lieser at least, sounds like the starting OL is already set. The other 4 spots are given, but wonder what Larsen thinks about that.
——————————
The Dolphins’ approach with the o-line this preseason is to set the lineup in concrete and give it as much of an opportunity as possible to gel.
That means the starting five of left tackle Laremy Tunsil, Sitton, Kilgore, right guard Jesse Davis and right tackle Ja’Wuan James will always be on the field together. Regardless of how well anyone plays behind them, the Dolphins are staying with those five.

Damn page turned as I was replying to Rock..
Smaller kid, Yea me too Rock, was the fastest kid in the league, played RB in pee wee years from 5-10 at 5-6 years old (64-65)..
64 played for I don’t even remember the team name, but 64 was the year that Miami was granted an NFL franchise, in 65 the Dolphins were officially named the Dolphins and my team took that name, I played for them until I was 10..
Then a mandatory move up to Pop Warner 145 pounders while I was still small even for peewee,
So coach asked me do you want to be handed the ball and run for TD’s or you wanna take the ball away and run for TD’s, I said I wanna do both, he said though your fast & quick but your too small to play RB vs 145 plus plunders, so I played WR & CB and on my first ever defensive play I coaxed the QB into a screen pass, made him think I wasn’t looking, he threw it I broke on it and took it 67 the other way, got penalized for spiking the ball, coach was right it was funner to take the ball away, or catch and score than it was being handed to for score!!!
AHHH, those were the days, can remember as though it were yestetday, played in all league’s from Pee Wee through sophomore in HS when I dropped out cuz I became ineligible for football cuz I never went to class, only went to school cuz I loved sports (played Baseball, soccer, football) & girls…
Moved to Ca, went back to school, walked on to HS team, played but had finally grown and lost some overall speed due to size and partying, but still jitterbug quick… But this time I was in HS to graduate and meet girls from where I had just moved to…
I fell in love with, and became a hardcore Dolphin fan a year if not two years before the professional team ever took the field…
I remember in 64 watching the 6 o’clock sports with my dad, and they announced that Miami was granted an NFL team, and my dad and I went Nutts, he played for the Canes for two years until my birth ruined his dreams and he had to get a real job times two… Pops was 250 of pure muscle with Earl Campbell thighs, he was a member of the Canes at 19-20 as an OL & FB, he broke my leg when I was four trying to teach me how to tackle…
GOFINS!!!

as soon as James was ok again they put him right back out there with the 1s.
I was never a fan of all that cross-training and trying multiple combinations stuff, but I guess when you have several guys who suck at several OL spots it’s better than only having a few guys who suck at one spot each.
I mean they still all sucked, but at least you had several guys who sucked ready to step in for the other guys who sucked.
Nice story KV!
Thanks Mike, figured you guys would enjoy…
So I gotta mow my lawn for the next four hours…
Don’t feel like scrolling for the rundown..
Can anyone gimme a hint as to how the scrimmage went today??
Ohh wait, that’s tomorrow, was thinking today was Saturday.. NEVER MIND!!!
Does that mean you get to put off mowing the lawn until tomorrow ?
PDog — Up to him on the timing. Only problem would be if he tries to mow part of ORob’s lawn. 🙂
LOL Phelo, unfortunately no gotta do it today, my mower broke and had to barrow brother-in-law, been raining for three weeks and it’s way outta hand for this 59 year old, can’t afford to wait for even more rain/growth.
Can’t afford injury/nails in feet, so I won’t be goin anywhere near Robs lawn, but my neighbor and I often help each other out with those section of lawn
KV — where do you live? Still time to join us for the Fest.
My first game playing Tackle of Miramar Optimists I picked off a pass in the fist series and was running it back for a TD when the QB blind sided me and knocked my ass out. I peed myself and everything. They had me playing again the 2nd half. Concussion? Probably!
(I was 85lbs playing on the 125’s because I was a runt / late bloomer)
there was another kid on the team that was shorter than me but about 10lbs heavier and that kid could lay the wood. He was the best tackler on the team. He forced more fumbles!
Larsen should be a backup. But, he also probably knows that Davis is gonna struggle at some point, so Larsen may end up playing anyway.
Rock,
We used to actually have a yearly “hardest hitter” award at our end of the year award ceremony in HS. In the NFL it would be called the “Best hand tackler” award with how its going. It’s getting ridiculous. They may as well just start playing flag football.
this kid, Grant, I remember now, was just a super jock in a midget’s body. Played RB and LB for us. No one wanted to go H2H with him in drills. Even our linemen would hesitate before lining up. The kid did everything INTENSE.
I am old enough that we used to go both ways (not like that) but young enough that not everybody just flipped over onto defense. The QB went out and some other adjustments were made. So except on 3rd and long, I played Strong Safety on D.
In 10th grade I had outside contain against sweeps and screens to my side, as the TE side determined which was the strong side for our scheme.
Anyway I perfectly read an old type of screen that was a flare out into the flat, and my DE and OLB picked off the blockers TE and FB. Unfortunately, that left me one on one in space with one of those greased lightning 5’9 RBs.
So I went low in what would be an illegal tackle about 3 different ways this season. But for me the coach said I had textbook form and he was proud of me. He said this after I woke up, cuz the f’n RB went low and led with his helmet also and we hit full speed crown to crown. Knocked me out and him too, but he had to leave the game with a neck and I only missed 2 plays.
I would’ve only missed one, but they couldn’t find the smelling salts in time.
LOL, now a days either that hit or the one I took from the QB would have been a “season ender” for kid. OH! Concussion! they can’t play anymore.
I remember being so elated that I had picked off that pass in my first game! I was “streaking down the sideline” I had already scored a TD in my mind and then….lights out.
LOL Rock!!!
Concussion, what’s that???
Yea me too , had a least a handful of not 10 (according to what we read today…
One time in 9th grade on JV team the OL & TE’s were practicing pulling blocks, I was a CB but hated being idle so I jumped into the fray all of us lined up side by side without helmets, coach says pull right, I always went full bore no matter what I was doing, so I blasted off to the right while the big Brother next to me went left for a forehead to forehead collision, I instantly grew a unicorn between my two black eyes, jogged over to coach, he freaked and told me go talk to Varsity coach, coach told me I was a tough SOB and that I was gonna be his slot receiver when I make it to varsity, now go to the locker room for treatment..
Never went to doctor, mom & step dad weren’t paying attention, I always forged the OK’s to play football, so I kept my injuries from them..
Got kicked off team at beginning of Junior year first Varsity year because of eligibility/not goin to class… DUMBASS KV!!!
Wake up, get up, throw up.
Go get some water and walk it off!
Kaep blackballed from Madden too. LOL
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ea-sports-unfortunate-mistake-led-to-kaepernick-being-edited-out-of-madden-19-soundtrack/
They claim honest mistake, but someone caught the reference too.
I’m guilty as anyone, but have have of you guys had a playing card?

LOL They wouldn’t have wasted the penny strip of bubble gum on me.
My two favorite cards I ever had were a Paul Hornung and a Raymond Berry.
Rock,
There is nothing as fun as laying someone out with a great hit…..especially if it was a QB. Lol
Yeah…..must have been really fun for him seeing as he probably never hit anyone before that. I woke up looking through the ear hole. LOL
I don’t believe for a minute that it was an “honest mistake” by EA. They keep that soundtrack for Madden as clean and as uncontroversial as possible, knowing that kids play the game, too.
My man Young Dre (I’ve got connect) — who is an infamous curser — has had to either re-record altogether, or create brand new songs for EA… and he’s probably the artist who’s had more EA songs featured than anyone else to date.
Same thing with Tech n9ne… had to clean up “The Beast” for the game.
I’m ALL GOOD with omitting Kaepernick references from the game. It’s a bloody video game, not a platform for political BS to indoctrinate children.
PS… it’s EA’s game. Thus, they reserve the rights and responsibilities as to what is seen and heard on their game.
All true, but EA benefits by using the NFL name and players, so they have to cowtow to what the NFL will allow them to do as well. Would it shock you if you found out the NFL didn’t want to have Kaepernick’s name on a soundtrack of their game? I know I wouldn’t be shocked in the least
IMO, EA wants NOTHING to do with controversy… and wisely so. AGAIN, JMO.
I THINK this was Young Dre’s debut for an EA soundtrack…
Try this link instead… VERY GOOD song by my man!!!
No company of any kind wants controversy…unless they think it will help their bottom line….but it’s usual never a good idea to alienate potential customers.
EXACTLY… especially from a commercial enterprise such as EA games.
But THIS is the Young Dre I know. I first heard of him in ’94, and he dropped this one in ’96. VERY talented!
WARNING: curse words are in this. Don’t be bumpin’ this at work!
I just cant figure out WHY his name would be in ANY song. WHY?
I always turned the music off in the settings because IT SUCKED. But then I find no redeeming value in rap or hop hop. It’s all garbage IMO. If you use autotunes, you can’t sing and shouldn’t be a singer.
.
PERIOD
if you don’t have a drummer and use a computer to generate the beat you suck and shouldn’t be an artist. again, IMO.
I can’t stand auto-tune either! 100% with ya, Rockphin.
But I will walk that back a little. There are SOME hip hop and rap songs I have liked over the years. But I am a Classic Rock guy.
Different strokes for different folks, Brother! It’s ALL GOOD! 🙂
Hey, don’t dog on Al Bundy. Four TD’s in one game for a full back is pretty impressive!
Christina Applegate was once the 🍎 of my eye, back in the days of “Married…”.
It’s funny, Al LOOKED 40 something in high-school too……

Obviously if you were playing Tackle and picked off a pass and the QB blindsided you….it must have been your QB………what did you do pull a Jim Marshall????
I mean he did capitalize Tackle….
Defensive Tackle…makes sense to me
They better not mess Minkah up.
I think Arizona messed up Patrick Peterson by having him play 13 different positions.
He did that at Alabama, and Saban said he handled it beautifully
“Ryan Tannehill hit Mike Gesicki for four touchdowns today”
https://phinphanatic.com/2018/08/03/ryan-tannehill-hits-mike-gesicki-four-scores-practice/
NICE!!!
This ain’t college.
I say give him one position and let him get in the HoF at that spot. What is so bad about that? There is no position in the Hall that is called Swiss Army Knife. There ARE however guys who got injured by playing out of position or jaded and frustrated by being over-used or confused by having to learn multiple playbooks.
Its not the same as it use to be, and yet it is at the same time. Safety can be seen as anything from a LB to a CB just dependent on scheme and their responsibilities no matter what they are doing are pretty similar. Its more about their physical ability to flip between the responsibilities now than it is learning how to play multiple positions since the position have the same responsibilities, especially in a scheme like ours.
It would be different if the guy was a SS, pure box safety and he really wasn’t good in coverage and yet we were trying to use him in the FS position or in the slot where coverage skills are really important. Or if the reverse was true and he was smallish and couldn’t play in run support but we were bringing him inside the box a lot.
Since he is capable and has the physical attributes to play either in coverage or in the box i dont see the harm in it, otherwise id be right there with you. Jones is a safety you can do the same things with and we have been for years.
TJ is not one of those guys, he is a box saftey with decent coverage skills. He really needs to have a more static role, especially now that we do have someone that can float between positions.
Well, you’ve GOT to find a way to get him on the field. That’s what happens you follow a strict ‘BPA’ approach.
And that’s NOT to diss the selection of Minkah, but you’ve GOT to find a way to get him on the field.
Thats a good way to learn not to jump offsides.
THAT’S MY DAWG!!! 😀
I DO want to get Minkah on the field
and I DO think he is smart and capable of many great things,
but he is a rookie and has not flashed with an INT yet or
any Big Noise.
I’d rather him just be a FS this year and maybe give us a couple sacks as a safety blitz
and a couple TFL as a run-game disrupter before trying to make him an exotic hybrid
with so many responsibilities and so many reads to make
that he never gets to just play football.
I know they want to play the Big Nickel with 3 Safeties and all,
but let’s make sure we don’t ask a little guy to tackle the big guys 8 times a game.
That’s a separated shoulder waiting to happen.
He’s 6’1 202. He’s not 6’2, 225 like TJ.
They have been talking endlessly on how good he has played this pre-season. Ints arent a good marker of a DB’s success, but he has had some previously. I think you are worried about nothing right now man, he seems to be doing just fine.

We dodged a bullet it seems. This was a player we had really been interested in in his draft year.
Dang, I had Jets TE Jordan Leggett’s dad out on bond. Now he is back in jail on violation of probation with a no bond. I will have to go off of his bond until he can see his probation judge in a couple weeks and get a bond. Don’t take it wrong, he is not a real criminal or criminal at all in my book. He is actually a victim of some unfortunate circumstances followed an unfair (biased, IMO) police/court case. He is actually a very nice person and a pleasure to talk to.
And I find it a pleasure to talk to you on here, as well, BBM. You would seem to be a VERY decent man! #Respect to you, sir!
I gotcha fooled, LOL. Nah, thanks M! I try to be decent and treat others the way I want to be treated. Mostly, I am quiet, laid back and enjoy natures beauty. We have never conversed via email but over the last decade feel I know a lot about you and we share the same views on MANY topics my friend. BTW, I have had your email for a very long time, LOL
Then email me, DUDE!!! LOL 😀
Speaking of enjoying natures beauty, the wife and I are heading out Monday to camp at St Joseph Peninsula State Park. It is just beautiful. The state park has 10 miles of crystal white sandy beach on the Gulf of Mexico with the largest sand dunes in the state of FL. The peninsula runs north/south so every night is an amazing sunset on the beach. On the other side of the peninsula is St Joseph Bay which is great for kayaking and also snorkeling (yes, there are scallops). For you northerners who would like a very relaxing get away that is not touristy, this is a place for you. I don’t mean camping, before you get to the state park there are many homes for rent and reasonable (like $235 a night reasonable for 3 bedrooms). I don’t think there is even one hotel on the entire peninsula.
It is south of Panama City and Mexico Beach.
That sounds like something I would like
It was my first game playing tackle football as a kid after playing flag football the year before. The T was capitalized because Iphone thought it should be. I was playing CB because I was small and fast but couldn’t catch well….The QB I had picked off ran up behind me while I was running for the pick6 and punched/clothes lined me out of boinds and knocked me out. He was like 45 lbs heavier than me. wide guys.

Popsicle 😛
The more I hear/read about Minkah the more I love the guy even tho he hasn’t played a down.
Could be my first jersey since RT17……
Before the draft we had a who would you like us to draft and who do you think we should draft on this board. I said I wanted Minkah, but didn’t think we’d get him. I dont remember anyone else saying they wanted him as top choice.
During the first round of the draft I was at the Vegas Golden Knights playoff game. My brother texted me that we drafted Minkah. From my seat I yelled out Minkaaaah during the game, I’m sure I got some strange looks.
During the next intermission I saw a guy with a Fins hat. I asked him, if he knew who we just drafted, he said he did and was very pleased, as were his friends that informed him.
With all of that said, you dont have to sell me on Minkah. I’ve been all in since before the draft. I believe i expected Roquan, glad we dont have Landry 2.0.
Freaks such as Zach Thomas once set similar regimens, studying opponents, honing his craft well into the late night hours. But Thomas was a fifth-round draft pick who was undersized and felt the need to overcome his pedigree and physical shortcomings with amazing work ethic.
Fitzpatrick is a first-round pick with no obvious physical shortcomings. His motivation for working so hard is he understands his assignment. And he understands normal preparation is not going to serve him well enough to carry out the job.
Let Minkah play all over the field, Ed Reed 2.0.
2016 playoff game Pitt made our make shift secondary, and D look really bad. I don’t see that happening with Minkah on the field.
I dont like Saban secondary guys…..so he was never on my radar before draft.
It is going to hurt a bit having 2 studs from Alabama. I’ll just get over it.
GO FINS
You can’t judge a current player based on what former players from the same school did. Didn’t we learn this lesson with Aaron Rodgers? The same thing happens in BB with Duke players, but lately…
I dont get the reasoning behind the HOF game. Why do 2 teams play 5 preseason games, when no one wants to play 4? Why dont they play it on Monday or Tuesday, the same week others teams start on Thursday, and only play 4 games?
The game has gotten so watered down, with very few, if any, starters playing.
And yet how many Dolphins fans on this blog watched it? It’s a meaningless game used to bring awareness to the HOF, and get football fans an early primer. As to why teams play 5 games, I have no idea, that’s not well thought out. It’s kind of like the teams that go to London.

Did anyone else post this? Nice article by Armondo
Not sure if anyone posted it, but I read it too. Ya gotta love this kid, he’s all business. I’ll also gladly take the work ethic comparisons to Zach Thomas, one of my favorite players ever.
I dont remember seeing it, but I also read it and why I think the bust potential for Minkah is as low as it gets. I mean someone so dedicated to his craft is a godsend. I hope others on the team follow.
Phillip’s to Gase, coach I hate being labeled a slacker. How can I shed that label. Gase: go eat, sleep and study as Minkah does, then we’ll take it from there.
Been thinking about who I want to start opposite Howard, and this came to mind, if Lippett starts a lotttttt of passes will go his way, and many of them may be caught, but Lippett is going to get his share of ints too. Maybe even 9 or 10.
Is it better to start the playmaker, that gives up more catches, but gets lots of ints or the guy that has better coverage skills and above average int potential, or the speedster that may be the best coverage guy, but uncertain int potential?
Another option is to play all 3 based on who matches up the best, for the game at hand.
Stephen Anthony when asked about Gesicki, the kid has great ball skills, once catches on he’s going to be great.
Seems to be a buzz around camp about both Gesicki and Minkah, that these 2 guys are going to be as good as they want to be.
I hope both earn lots of playing time
This rookie class has a good chance to be pretty good. We should have higher end play from Minkah and Gesicki, and more contributary play from the others, which is all that’s needed.
We dont need Ballage to ball, or Baker to play much on running downs, or Smythe to catch 50 passes, we just need this guy to contribute
The audible with Kim Bokamper seems to showing a live feed on YouTube into the scrimmage.
Oh well, they cut the feed just as the scrimmage started. As they were cutting it, it sounded like Gesicki already caught a TD, not sure what drill it was though.
Mike,
“You’ve got mail”
Amendola with 3 targets already, one drop on a deep ball, the other 2 were caught.
Not much information on today’s scrimmage. NFL network with just a bleep. Seems Rob Ryan is on the sideline in full Dolphin attire. 🤔
Minkah is a godsend, it appears. Can’t wait to see him vs hear about him. Same for Gesicki. ……actually all of it as it’s changed/morphed into something very exciting this year.
Injury gods, please, be kind to us this year!
“””morphed into something very exciting”””
LOVE-IT, 😁!!!
GOFINS!!!
HMMM??
During the pre-scrimmage roundup
John Congemi said that Kiko basically played with one arm in o17!!!
Says his wrist & thumb issues aren’t hindering him in o18 and it shows!!!
GOFINS!!!
It was the walking wounded last year.
Yea, and with no bye, time to heal or replenish over a 16 consecutive game stretch, we were done with 6 games remaining, and fell of the earth for that final 6 games!!!
Never before have this and that off field BS played such a intricate part toward dismantling what the Dolphins intended to accomplish on a WEEKLY BASIS over a seasons entirety!!!
2018 (off-field distractions) WILL NOT RESEMBLE ANYTHING WHATSOEVER TO THAT WHICH TOOK PLACE IN o17,
and it’ll become more than apparent on the field!!!
GOFINS!!!
Anything that could go wrong, did, except for watching the Jets get beat at the Fest last year!
Krishna..
For future reference..
Is that your name, or relegion??
I keep thinking that you may be of the feminine species
but then I look at your avatar…
So just wondering for future reference,
cuz in our one of our few communications
you said “”Go KV””, and I replied (because of your name here), You Go Girl…
PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME!!!
Seeing that you’ve been to the FEST…
MAYBE someone else can??
No Matter really, other than not wanting to potentially insult a fellow HUMAN BEING!!!
I’m an old fart with a colorful background who grew up attending Dolphin games when they had flipper in the endzone. No offense taken.
Me too!!!
So I’m gathering that Krishna isn’t your actual name??
NEVER heard a woman refer to herself as “”an old fart””, so you must be of the tea-bags species and HaraKRISHNA beliefs??
ALL GOOD either way, just got me scratching my head!!!
I was born & grew up 59-75 in 305/NMB/Grenolds Park…
Where were you???
Where you at these days???
May have sat side by side as kids watching Flipper do his TD tricks??
GOFINS!!!
Mom had a friend back in those days who was one of the trainers of Flipper, Gentle Ben, and Clarence The Cross-Eyed Lion, and I got to mingle with them…
GOOD TIMES!!!
GOFINS!!!
It may never again happen that a Herd player is inducted in the HOF so I’m being a homer today. Those were such fun games to watch, I was at most of them, Home and Away.
💚 🏈
That’s awesome! Homer away!🏈
Randall and Randy.
CONGRATS HERD, on the accomplishments of your fellow Alum !!!
Randy Moss was Da’Chit, GO MARSHALL THUNDERING HERD!!
GOFINS!!!
KV….live in Austin, TX. Amazing city, very hip and progressive.
Of the many gods in eastern philosophy, this one intrigued me the most. Grew up a Catholic, so that accounts for the battle against guilt. It’s a twisted mind and not religious at all. I have sort of an irreverent reverence of life/love.
And, will be a homer Dolphin fan for life.
We sat in the endzone in the upper deck.
AWESOME, me too, all about spirituality/live and let live!!!
GOOD TO KNOW YOU!!!
GO BUDDAH
GOFINS!!!
Right on.
Meant to include this quote…
“”” It’s a twisted mind and not religious at all. I have sort of an irreverent reverence of life/love.”””
LOVED IT, exactly the same here !!!
I can hear it now
“””Damn Hippies”””
LOL 😜
Those times were memorable and formative.
Every year (at least when I was there) players would come to our HS and talk about their beliefs and how they reconciled it with such a violent sport.
Krishna — Austin is one cool place to live. My first great love went to Southwest Texas State before it went the LBJ way. Hit 5th street a couple times and did the tube down the San Marcos. Not such a fan of Houston and Dallas, but Austin is a place could live in a second.
Probably, couldn’t live anywhere else on TX. Damn hippies!!!!
In
LOL !!!
Legal Herbs in Austin ???
Not yet, but hoping soon. A lot of east Texans need to be educated on the economics of it and that’s in the works.
The 2019 session will be key.
😍
The only knock I have living in ATX is the Dolphins and beach aren’t here. Lol…
Always good reasons to go to the Fest for me.
Never a bad reason to catch a Fest at least. And hope your wife is a lovely and gracious as ever. What’s ATX mean? Slang for Austin?
Yessir…Austin, TX.
Thank you, stangerx. I don’t know how she puts up with me!?
“”””Defensive end Charles Harris has drawn rave reviews for his work since the start of camp, and he produced another strong effort Saturday.
Harris was the individual standout in the scrimmage portion of practice Saturday when he got to quarterback Ryan Tannehill for two sacks. He came free from the blind side on his second sack, suggesting the strong possibility of a sack/strip in a game situation.
“It’s cool,” Harris said. “It’s really great to get into the stadium, get a feel for the stadium, get a feel for the grass. It’s way different than last year, a lot better from last year. It’s great to get back under these lights, under this heat and in front of the fans.””””
Sounds like at the very least, that the turf is good to go/fixed !!!
With week one Irma, and tropical wave upon tropical wave over the seasons majority,
our field was an absolute quagmire, by far the league’s worst!!!
Ridiculous playing conditions for those of sudden, explosive movement,
for all 8 home games!!!
Reminded me of a game we played on the road not too many years ago,
when a punted ball actually planted itself nose down in the turf!!!

GOFINS!!!
Nice, kv.
NICE, “”me like”” too !!!
Read from the bottom to the top!
@LuisDSung
Headed down for the Adam Gase presser. Spoiler, he’s gonna be furious.
@LuisDSung
Osweiler hits Drew Morgan in the flat for a touchdown. Only touchdown of the day and it’s the most inaccurate QB on the team, as well as against the 3rd team D.
@LuisDSung
Osweiler in the flat to Ballage, ball is on the 6 now. Almost there.
@LuisDSung
Osweiler over the middle to Malcolm Lewis. We’re in the redzone folks.
@LuisDSung
Osweiler throws to Radcliff in the right flat this time. Radcliff keeps catching my eye, he can play.
@LuisDSung
Radcliff tries to turn the corner left but he’s tripped up by Quentin Poling. Noticing him again.
@LuisDSung
Osweiler play action, short pass to Radcliff in the flat, early on in camp, Radcliff was my dark horse.
@LuisDSung
Perry goes up the middle gets just enough for the first with forward momentum, that didn’t stop Poling and Aikens from putting a hit on him.
@LuisDSung
Osweiler looks…and looks…and looks…finally scrambles once he reaches the line of scrimmage.
@LuisDSung
Scott crossed over the middle from the right side of the field and caught the pass from Osweiler for a first down, was all alone.
@LuisDSung
Screen pass to Morgan, good block to give him some running room, caught from behind by Jonathan Woodard the DE
@LuisDSung
Ball at the 30 as Osweiler comes out. Sterup is with the 3rd team. Ballage with the run, and DT Anthony Moten squashes him in the backfield.
@LuisDSung
Morgan caught the punt and was able to run past the gunners Tankersley and McTyer. Can’t let the returner split you.
@LuisDSung
Another punt, ball bounces into the endzone this time, gunners were Aikens and Fitzpatrick…I would love to see more air so the special teams can pin them back.
@LuisDSung
Let’s try that again. Morgan fair catches it, gunners were Jordan Lucas and Maurice Smith.
@LuisDSung
5h5 hours ago
Drew Morgan returning a punt here, not everything is in sequential order. Even punts have false starts now…
@LuisDSung
Greg Joseph from 52. No good.
@LuisDSung
Fales throws right to Escobar for a short gain, then another draw play for Senorise Perry and again the defense is caught off guard as Perry makes a big gain, but even then it’s not enough for the first. Field Goal.
@LuisDSung
ANOTHER false start, this is getting ridiculous.
@LuisDSung
Run right, Sam Young acting as left tackle, Kiko and Raekwon in on it. No gain.
@LuisDSung
Sam Young called for a false start…drive killers…
@LuisDSung
Ballage up the middle, Sterup and Asiata made a hole for him and he gets a nice chunk of yards.
@LuisDSung
Osweiler wanted Wilson crossing over the middle but it was behind him.
@LuisDSung
Flag on the play, Wilson got another handoff from Osweiler, flag was offsides so now it’s 1st and 5
@LuisDSung
Draw play for Senorise Perry, hole opened up the middle for a first down. Yay, something good lol. McDonald was in on the hit.
@LuisDSung
Fales hands off to Ballage who is immediately wrapped up in the backfield by Kiko Alonso. Touch tackles, so no real hitting.
@LuisDSung
Fales in the flat to Thomas Duarte for 5 yards.
@LuisDSung
Flag again, delay of game. They doing this on purpose? Then Fales throws incomplete…as another flag flies in. That’s 3 straight. Holding.
@LuisDSung
Penalty on the offense prior to the next play. So much for those yards.
@LuisDSung
Fales in now, he rolls right and hits Escobar for a gain of 7 yards.
@LuisDSung
Haack’s punt is good this time and Grant with the fair catch.
@LuisDSung
More Luis D. Sung Retweeted Luis D. Sung
Tunsil I mean, sorry.Luis D. Sung added,
@LuisDSung
Another blown play, Charles Harris got past Ja’Wuan James and then Branch stopped Tannehill’s arm. Punt.
@LuisDSung
Another blown play, Charles Harris got past Ja’Wuan James and then Branch stopped Tannehill’s arm. Punt.
@LuisDSung
Drake goes right and runs into Chase Allen and company. Really not liking that the 2nd team defense is beating the starting offense.
@LuisDSung
Throw that pass away Tannehill. Oof.
@LuisDSung
5h5 hours ago
Sanders with the 47 yard field goal, and he made it.
@LuisDSung
5h5 hours ago
Tannehill short to Ballage, Chase Allen and Jerome Baker with the would be tackle. Maybe 5 yards, but not enough for the first. Field goal time.
@LuisDSung
5h5 hours ago
Drake goes right for barely any gain, maybe 1. Gotta get something going here.
@LuisDSung
Tannehill throws too high for Amendola in the seam, incomplete. Saw Mike Gesicki maneuvering a defender away from T’Hill…just wish that had been completed.
@LuisDSung
Tannehill left to Amendola for a first down, gain of 12. First down.
@LuisDSung
Delay of game…eh…
@LuisDSung
Tannehill to Amendola near the right sideline, McTyer and Jalen Davis with the coverage. Another short gain.
@LuisDSung
Drake takes the handoff right and gets pushed out of bounds by Xavien Howard, about 3 yard gain.
@LuisDSung
Tannehill with a playaction rollout, takes off running and he gets a first down out of it. Let’s do more of that shall we?
@LuisDSung
5h5 hours ago
Punt time. Haack’s punt is…bleh. Grant picks it up as it rolls to him. Ugh…Matt Darr where are you?
@LuisDSung
5h5 hours ago
Tannehill sacked from behind by Branch. Maybe if it were an actual game he would have taken off running/
@LuisDSung
Drake goes by the left tackle for a short gain, nice spin. Then a screen pass intended for Parker is broken up by Bobby McCain…screens are still bad.
@LuisDSung
11 on 11 time. Greg Joseph for the kickoff. Jakeem Grant made the return in the endzone and surged ahead all the way to past midfield before pushed out by Joseph himself. Excellent.
Sounds like it was another FLAG FEST!
Not one of my forgivable tendencies in the team!!!!!!!!
Krishna,
I lived in Georgetown TX for about a year when I was in 8th grade, right outside of Austin. It was an interesting experience. That year I learned just how important football is to Texans. Our 8th grade team had more practice time, preparation, game planning, and just flat out big kids than my freshman high school team did (in CA). Half the town would show up for the high school games, and a good many would show up early to watch our games too (it was all the same school and a shared field).
The varsity team I played on was a pretty good team for a couple of years. We even had a future NFLer in Mike Flanagan (played for the Packers and Texans). I’m not exaggerating when I say the 8th grade team I played on in Georgetown could have given my varsity team a good game.
KV i remember the Punt sticking in the mudgame.. was Pittsburgh, and game Ricky had is arm broken being stepped on
Yea Toba, was thinkin Pittsburgh
