2018 Season – Game 9 – Jets @ Dolphins

Halfway there.  It ain’t pretty folks.  We started out 3-1, and we all had some hope for a successful season.  After all, seasons are broken up into 4 game quarters, and we were somehow a winning team after those first 4, although the crushing loss to the New England Patriots was a wake up call that not all was sunshine in Miami.  We started out the first 4 scoring 82 points, and surrendering 90 points, with nearly half of those 90 points coming against New England (38-7).  In the next 4 games, the Dolphins have gone 1-3, to even it up at 4-4.  In these next 4 games, we scored a little more, 92 points, but surrendered far more, 129 points, with the points given up each consecutive game getting worse, 27, 28, 32, and then 42 this past week to the Texans.  Not a good trend!

Although a 4-4 record may indicate a team that can do as much right as they can do wrong, unfortunately for our team, I feel it’s not like that at all.  I see us spiraling downward, which incidentally may end up in our favor if we want to draft one of the top QB’s next season, and IMO this has now become a necessity.  The QB that can lead us to great things, hope for playoffs and more, is NOT currently on the roster.  Unless Ryan Tannehill gets healthy and shows us another gear that he hasn’t yet brought to the table, he’s not the guy.  Unless Brock Osweiler shows he can consistently make good accurate throws, he’s not our guy.  Both are flawed, and neither is a championship caliber QB.

The next item is our current HC.  When he was hired, Adam Gase was considered one of the great, young, offensive minded coaches available.  Make no mistake, he truly was highly regarded and sought after, and I thought he may be the guy to bring our offense to new heights.  It seems as if he elevated Ryan Tannehill’s play, but unfortunately, the way he accomplished that is with a balanced attack offense, and a “make no mistakes” short passing attack.  Bill Belichick said “OK, I’ll just counter your smaller, faster WR’s with nickel, dime and quarter packages, let’s see you beat that!”  Well, we couldn’t.  Did he find a way to make TE Mike Gesicki make all those smaller DB’s pay?  No.  Did Frank Gore and Kenyan Drake run all over the smaller DB’s?  No.  Gase had no answer for that strategy, and now it’s not even the offense that is the current issue, it’s the defense.

In the first 4 games, our defense took the ball away 10 times, while our offense turned it over 6 times, a +4 TO differential.  Each game, however, our yardage allowed total began to swell, 336 yards in the win against the Titans, only 257 against the Jets, but 434 yards against the Raiders, and then 449 against the Patriots.  The next 4 is where it really starts to get ugly, and the turnovers that kept us in the win column dried up, but the opposing team’s yardage continues to increase.

In Game of 1 of the 2nd quarter of games, we lost to the Bengals, losing the turnover battle 3-1, while allowing a modest 332 total yards.  We turned it over 3 times, and forced 3 turnovers by the Bears, and won the game in OT, though allowing a hefty 467 yards, granted, this was with an extra 9:57 in OT.  Against the Lions, neither team turned the ball over, but we did manage to give up once again over 400 yards on defense, 457 to be exact.  We then got shellacked by the Texans, turning it over once while not managing to get a single turnover (or defensive stop!) against the Texans.  427 yards, and 42 points.

After 8 games, we’re scoring 21.8 PPG (174), and we’ve allowed 27.4 PPG (219).  We have forced 14 turnovers while giving it up 13 times.  After the first 3 games, we were 8-4.  Everything is getting worse, forcing HC Adam Gase to really sit down and look at everything, in an attempt to “fix” these problems.  I’m writing “angry”, so take all of this for what it’s worth, but shouldn’t he be trying to “fix” the problems every week?  This defense has been pathetic, surrendering tons of yards to our opponents, and now we’re also allowing tons of points too.  Our offense simply can’t keep up with that, we play too careful and calculated, and now with playmaker Albert Wilson on IR, the guy who turns a lateral or 2-5 yard forward passes into 50-60-70 + yard TD plays gone, how will we score TD’s?

This is part and parcel why I can’t bear to think the Miami Dolphins are going to force Ryan Tannehill down our throats for yet another failure of a season.  The NFL has changed, it’s getting closer to Arena football, except that you can’t really hit the offensive players.  It’s a WIDE OPEN game,  shootouts,  and we play small ball.  Teams are hitting HR’s everywhere, and  we’re bunting guys over looking to scratch out a run.  If it’s Tannehill, or Osweiler, or Fales that are holding this offense back, CUT them!  If it’s Adam Gase that just doesn’t have the right field general at QB, then FIND him!  Don’t insult us by going with the status quo, and telling us you’re going to “fix” the problem.  I watch a lot of football, I have the NFL Sunday ticket, and it’s blindingly clear that we cannot compete in this NFL as currently constituted.  We need a gunslinger, and we need DE’s that can pressure opposing QB’s.

11 sacks folks.  E-L-E-V-E-N.  8 games, 11 sacks.  That’s beyond anemic.  It’s the DT’s and the DE’s, but I’d prefer to blame the DE’s mostly.  (( Paging Charles Harris!)) (( Paging Charles Harris?))  Doesn’t matter who does the drafting for us, can ANYONE please identify a pass rusher? Robert Quinn?  HELLLOOOOOOO!  Did Quinn shoot his load in the preseason?  He was unstoppable!  Peaked too soon?  Don’t blame Cam Wake, he’s just about 37 years old, and probably should be a role player now, not a starting DE.  What happened to Cordrea Tankersley?  He seemed to progress last season, and can we please end the Bobby McCain on the boundary please?  If you put McCain back in the slot, at least that’s 2 spots (Howard/MCain) that are competent.

The Jets come to town being outscored in the last 2 games 61-27.  I’ve got the remedy for that!  The Dolphins have been outscored 74-44.  That should even the playing field some.  I’m seeing far too many similarities between Joe Philbin and Adam Gase.  Hey, when you win the AFC East every year for a freaking century like Bill Belichick has, you can cut whoever the heck you want with minimal blowback.  Adam Gase, he doesn’t have that cachet, nor does he deserve to at this point.  He seems to have identified the players he likes, and has jettisoned the ones he doesn’t, but having success while doing so helps your cause.  We’re spiraling downward, and while it’s possible the Jets offer us a brief respite, the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau will not, and either will the Colts, who are scoring 29 PPG.

Game 9, and it’s hard to find one thing that we do really well.  ST’s have been one of our best units, Matt Haack averaging 45.7 yards, and rookie Jason Sanders 9 of 10 in FG’s, of course along with Jakeem Grant with a punt return and kick return for TD’s.  Gase has a lot of work to do, and I hope he has his scouts looking far and wide for our next QB, that is if he’s still here to see it through.  Most likely he will be given some latitude.

So, on to the Jets.  Sam Darnold has been “eh”.  Jeremy Bates and Todd Bowles do not an offensive juggernaut make.  Bowles is a defensive minded coach, and Bates hasn’t been an OC since back in 2010 for SEA, he’s been an assistant coach all these years (QB coach).  Darnold has thrown for 1705 yards, 11 TD’s and 10 INT’s.  The Jets had to put RB Bilal Powell on IR with a neck injury, which leaves Isaiah Crowell as the feature back, with Trenton Cannon and De’Angelo Henderson as depth.  Losing Powell really hurts the Jets, he usually saved a lil something for us in our clashes.  Robbie Anderson occasionally supplies some fireworks, but it’s a pretty boring offense most times with Quincy Enunwa (Jarvis Landry) and Terrelle Pryor and Jermaine Kearse.  The Jets recently signed Rishard Matthews, so maybe Rishard will get an opportunity to take out his frustrations on our defense.Jets defense has been just about mid-pack, nothing to get excited about.

My prediction?  After all the thinking and analyzing in an attempt to remedy what has been ailing us, Gase finds a way to win against another struggling team this week.  I think we win this one by about 4 or 5 points, no score prediction, I have no idea what team we’ll see on either side of the ball.

The picture I have in my mind of this game is Gase sitting there on the bench, the offense is horrible and it seemed he absolutely no idea what to do.

I’ve decided, if we draft a QB next year, I can’t bear to see Gase ruin that poor fucker. The only way I’d allow Gase to stay is if I had him with a lie detector machine, and I asked him if the only reason he refuses to EVER throw the ball past the stick is because he doesn’t trust his QB’s. If he answered YES (truthfully), he can’t get one season with our new QB, but if it’s more of the same of this garbage, he’s terminated.

  10. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I feel no cause for celebration, that’s bad man. I just can’t imagine how Gase was ever considered an offensive mastermind. I wonder how he would do with the Chiefs. Would they be scoring 20 PPG? I wouldn’t be shocked.

  11. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Mike E,

I feel ya. I want to look at positives moving forward and the W is it. We have to Bills games to try and hit 7-9 and maybe the Jags for 8-8 but I don’t have confidence with any of them after watching today.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I guess I’m just so disgusted, I don’t want 7-9, or 8-8. None of that means squat to me. I just don’t see anything with Gase that wants me to give him another year. Nothing at all. That’s terrible too, because tearing it up just starts the reset button again, and we’ll have a new HC who wants his guys, and we’re back at square one, unable to get any kind of momentum going. Still, I can’t see going forward with Gase, unless he puts his balls on the table, and allows his QB’s to throw beyond the first down marker.

  13. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Mike, the OL has been decimated, we’ve had injuries to our WRs and we’re playing with a back-up QB. we lost both Tubsil and James today so I can see why we are limited on offense.

Rob – We have Gore, that’s ALL we need. 😀

  15. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Jets vs Bills next week. Will anyone stay awake for that whole game? Will the fans just stay in the parking lot and actually enjoy themselves? Will Nate Peterman show Darnold what an irredeemable QB looks like?

  16. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I’m not sure about cutting him any slack. He’s supposed to be some offensive genius, the QB whisperer and all that. Teams have injuries all the time, next man up and they manage to play. He seems lost there. And long before the injuries, the team comes out flat, doesn’t really even do much at all in the first half of games, seems unprepared to play. That is coaching IMO.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I said I will cut him some slack but I didn’t say how much

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Agreed – Every week there are teams putting up record amounts of points and yardage, and every week we set records for offensive ineptitude. Good thing we have an offensive minded HC.

    newsflash…..we WON!

  18. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

We are only 1.5 games out of first place, LOL. Amazing as shitty as we are. However, Pats still have 2 games vs the Jets and 1 vs Bills.

  19. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

at least we’re not the jests…here’s the gang green bold predictions for today’s game.
Here are the writer’s five bold predictions for the dolphins game:

    Sam Darnold throws 4 touchdowns.
The Jets defense holds the Dolphins to under 100 yards in the first half.
Two different Jets receivers break 75 yards receiving and score a TD.
The Jets win the turnover battle by at least 3.
The Jets have a special teams touchdown.

  20. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I cut Gase no slack. I think we should just cut Gase

  21. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Mike E,

Next year is the perfect time to start over. Our DEs are either old or terrible. Our QBs are terrible. We have a solid RB group, and decent WR group. We need someone who can recognize QB talent and find some DEs, a CB, and maybe a DT. There is no way Gase has the talent to continue this charade and why waste another year with Tannehill. Just move forward and hope you get the right coach. I believe you have to see solid progress or you need to move completely on. Gase isn’t that coach.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s not because I want Tannehill at all, I’ve made it clear he needs to go. It’s just turning over the roster again, it can take so much time, but it definitely might be necessary. I’ve seen nothing that makes me think Gase is the guy. Nada.

      • herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Part of the issue for me is he has been soooo insistent that Tannehill is the guy. Clearly in this amount of time in the league he’d be the guy if he was ever going to be. I don’t hate Tannehill, but he is not the guy. He is just a guy. Big difference.

    • Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

I hope we sprinkle in a OL or 10

  22. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

BBM – We don’t belong in the same sentence as the Pats.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Or the Steelers, Vikes, Panthers, Chiefs, Seahawks, Falcons, Saints, Texans, etc. TB would smash us and they aren’t very good.

  23. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Spread was 3– we won by 7. And the D had one heck of a game.

  24. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

AND, with knowing how we always play in the first half….we win the toss and elect to RECEIVE! Is that his idea of an adjustment?

  25. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

I still don’t understand why the team with a better record gets to play tougher opponents at home and the lesser team has to play tougher opponents on the road:
We are at Packers and Vikings
Pats are homer vs Packers and Vikings

  26. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Herd – I LMAO when they showed the Jets other OC on the sidelines talking to another player, probably saying “What the fuck do I have to do to get back on the field”, all the while while smirking that half smile. Did you see that?

  27. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I’m sure this FO feels they have their QBs, and with other needs, there’s no way we will draft a QB next year.

  28. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Oh, why did we wear our aqua jerseys today? Did they mention anything?

  29. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

we need to be Saints fans this afternoon, Men and Packers fans tonight.
    Big Time on both.

  30. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Mike E,

I wouldn’t mind Tannehill at a reduced price IF we draft a QB in the 1st. I’d need Gase gone though because he’s a shit coach. We have some similar talent on offense to KC outside of the playcaller and the QB. We have fast all over our offense but you need a good gameplan and we haven’t had one. We haven’t had very good QB plan in over a decade either.

  31. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Gase believes in Tannehill, Osweiler is serviceable, it’s Gases 4th year, there’s pressure on him to win, any QB taken in the draft will not start, do you think he’s going to waste an early pick on a QB to carry a clip board?

    No way!

  32. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Gase will be here next year, i’m sure he gets a pass this year due to all the injuries

  34. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Please do not throw me into the cobra tank guys, but I give Gase a pass because he went to the playoffs with a great record after the guys learned his offense, then has had giant QB turmoil ever since.

  35. Ken's avatar Ken says:

We are not going to be in position to take one of the elite QBs in the upcoming draft unless we give up a king’s ransom in future picks we don’t have. I want us to draft OL and look to take a QB in rounds 2 or 3 we can develop

    • herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I’ve pretty much decided the whole drafting an elite QB is a toss up at best. I don’t think Luck has turned out to be all that. Brady was something like a 5th rounder, or 6th? Leaf, Manziel, I can go on and on. I’m thinking it takes good coaching….and maybe some cheating! lol

Some good defense on both sides but the offenses were horrible. Glad to see our defense looked like they were engaged and not completely lost.

Hey Son, Minkah played boundary corner, nickel and safety today. 🙂

What was up with Jones out of the game today, anyone know?

  42. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

    The W felt like a L.

I would feel the same if they lost. Blah……just blah.
Osweiler has a good command of the offense, but is terrible at throwing.
OL now has about every started on IR or hurt.
    The pro-bowl S is quitting……

    Whoopeee!

    • Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

That’s because you watched that putrid game!
I looked at my wife and said “This is what terrible football looks like”

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Osweiler is not a good passer once he throws beyond 10 yards. His passes have little zip and he’s not very accurate. He also lacks timing. He’s a solid game manager but I don’t want to hear anymore how he and Tannehill are the same because they are not. Tannehill is much more talented. Not even close. Now that doesn’t mean Tannehill is top notch, but let’s be real here.

Once again we have a depleted team in a few areas and I have no idea how you remedy that. Guys are constantly going down. I hope Tunsil is okay.

Still want to know more about the Jones mystery. WTF is going on there?

  43. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Son, I wonder if Book will stay at ND. He had a really good game yesterday. Only drawback is his size. Drew Lock would be a decent QB to get in the 2nd round also.

And then you watch a game like the Saints/Rams and see how offenses are supposed to work.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

This is true. They are also more talented.

That said, we also saw a horrible play call to Gurley that we’ve seen with Drake that doesn’t look right from the get go. I see weird play calls in every game I watch. I think coaches should keep things more simple and just execute. James Lofton even talked about Walsh’s WCO that rarely used shotgun. You can run all of the same plays under center but shotgun is the new fangled way.

I wish we would a see a trend back to traditional football.

  52. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I think I heard Reshad tell Gase he was gonna sit until he figured out how to score a frickin’ touchdown.

  53. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Tim

I wish I could just agree with you that it’s Osweiler’s arm that can’t make the throws past 10 yards, but it’s exactly the same offense with Tannehill in there. I don’t know what to say if you don’t see that. It goes so against what the NFL has become, and yet we are the most careful, inept offense to watch, whether it’s Osweiler OR Tannehill. Maybe once every 50 attempts Tannehill throws one past 10 yards, but he’s not an accurate thrower when it gets past 10 yards either, and maybe that’s because they never freaking do it! I swear I may not renew my fucking Sunday ticket if Gase is back, and Tannehill is our starting QB. I don’t think I can stomach that.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Totally disagree. It’s night and day to me. Tannehill’s arm is far superior. He also knows how to use his body throwing on the run where Osweiler is very awkward. Tannehill is more athletic. You want to say they are even mentally, fine. That’s where it ends.

I think we don’t light it up with Tannehill today, but we win maybe 23-6. We are a lesser team with Osweiler in there. That’s how I feel.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I think we’re a lesser team than most teams in the NFL with EITHER, and that’s what kills me. I just don’t think Gase is what he’s cracked up to be. I’ve seen nothing at all that suggests otherwise.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Unfortunately our OL has been compromised once again. We can’t knock people off the ball in the run game consistently enough to set up strike passing plays. That’s how I see it anyway. We get overwhelmed way too often.

  54. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
With how the rules are now, teams just aren’t gonna turn back. It’s too easy to throw the ball now, so coaches are gonna take advantage of it. If QB/WR could still be hit….and hit hard….we wouldn’t be seeing this sort of offense. Now, they can pretty much do anything they like.
    ***
They tell us this is what fans want, but I don’t ever remember being asked. Lol

  55. Randy's avatar Randy says:

When we came out and threw the ball with the lead and under 4 minutes left, I wanted to say bad words to somebody. Somebody’s gotta explain the thought process there.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Gore was getting stuffed over an over. We had no push from the OL. I didn’t like it either but I got it. Tunsil was out and James was hurting but back in the game. I don’t think Gase trusted the run. He was hoping for a receiver to break something after the catch.

One of the issues we have right now is our TEs aren’t where they need to be yet. That’s an element we need.

That is why I am so adamant about it. I wanted him to be the one too. He is not. Quack quack quack He is a duck.

  57. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tim – Even with Tannehill at his best, the last 9 games of ’16, still under 25 points PPG. That can’t work in today’s NFL. Unless you have a top 5 defense, can’t be competitive.

  58. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Osweiler has plenty of arm strength his accuracy just sucks

  59. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

    TEST,TEST–Blocked, again!

  60. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I’m not a fan of Osweiler or Tanny. Osweiler is much better at managing the pocket and the ball….meaning he avoids sacks by moving and getting rid it. Tanny struggles in those areas. Osweiler actually has a decent arm….not great but plenty strong enough. You can see it when he does put zip on it, but Tanny’s arm is better. Tannehill is far more athletic and has more escapability. But, he also loses the ball more and just gets sacked far too often. I think Osweiler has a better brain for the game. Tannehill has the athleticism. They both have their positives and negatives…but neither stands out. The bottom line for me is that the offense scores about the same with either guy, so their impact on the team is pretty similar. Neither one of them…hopefully…is the future for this team.

  61. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Just give us Tannehill back. He has much much more upside IMO. BO is difficult to watch.

When I think of the term “upside”, that means untapped potential. Is that what you mean, or you just think Tannehill is better than Osweiler? I don’t think there’s anything untapped left with Tannehill, I think it’s pretty darn clear that he is what he’s always been.

  62. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Osweiler stood still as a statue several times and took sacks and also walked right into at least one.

  63. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

So you old school guys want what ? a defensive struggle? Is that not what you got today?

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

We don’t have a defense that can play against a better offense, but we would struggle defensively, if that’s what you mean. lol

  64. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
I don’t care if you were getting stuffed in the running game….but dare I suggest our passing game wasn’t exactly burning up the field either….you still keep the ball on the ground, secure the ball and burn time with a TD lead against an offense that hadn’t done a thing all day. Eating up clock or making them us TOs and punting it away isn’t a bad thing. Putting the ball in the air, stopping the clock and risking turning it over…all bad. Why take the risk?

Hey YOUNG STANGER, ignore my plea for help.
My computer’s been screwed up since all the tornadoes hit our area on Friday.
    ————–
I almost NEVER criticize the Fins when we win a game over the hated Jets!! But this one was hard to watch. Our O-Line is now officially in shambles with good ole #74 in the starting lineup. He’s THE WORST O-Lineman I’ve seen since Colon-blow, er, Columbo, or whatever his name was! GOOD THING we’re not playing the Cheatriots next game because they would have kicked our butts by at least 3 touchdowns today!!! NEVER has 5-4 LOOKED SO UGLY!! If anyone out there thinks this team is very close to a playoff winning team, well, YOU NEED YOUR EYES CHECKED!!
Anyway, I’m gonna have an extra Colorado Kool-Aid tonight and enjoy the victory. But this franchise is in BIGGG TROUBLE!!!

  66. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

So nobody on the coaching staff went over and asked Reshad what the problem was?

  67. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

    Mike,
I think RT is better than BO. This offense stinks with BO as QB. What more do we need as proof?

That being said, I am happy today!!! We beat the stinkin Jets!!!!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Unfortunately, I think just marginally better. Today we were especially putrid, but overall, I don’t see a big drop off from Tannehill to Osweiler. Istill always feel that whenever Tannehill is in there, he’s so careful, doesn’t take chances, and yet is sloppy with the football anyway, by not being aware of his surroundings well enough. You will get your guy back after the BYE, just don’t be surprised if your disappointed, I don’t expect much.

  68. Randy's avatar Randy says:

One of the things you want from your QB isn’t just whether they are good or talented but can they make the guys around them better and get the most out of your offense. Os and Tanny get about the same out of the offense, so it doesn’t really even matter who may be individually better. The difference between their individual impact on the offense is negligible. Neither is worth hitching your playoff hopes to.

  69. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I’d rather be an ugly 5-4 at the edge of the playoffs than the 3rd place Packers at 3-3-1 staring at the pasties.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

i’D RATHER BE THE 3-3-1 Packers because they have a lock Hall of Fame QB and a REAL SHOT AT SUCCESS IN THE PLAYOFFS.
      ——
      WE HAVE NEITHER.

  70. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Oz missed several open receivers and threw behind at least 3 guys who caught it but lost all momentum while spinning around. I also do not see him as smart as he gets balls tipped at 6’7.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Tannehill might only be a B maybe B+ at best overall, Osweiler is a C. He is limited in so many areas. His ball dies in the air, his feet are slow, he can’t pick up 1st downs with his legs, and he’s not very accurate with NFL throws. He’s competitive and understands the offense, but that’s pretty much it. He’s a backup QB.

Not saying Tannehill is elite, but he’s far superior in skill than Osweiler is. Gase wouldn’t even blink to start Tannehill if and when he’s ready to go.

  71. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

That’s what I was saying too. They both have things they’re good/bad at. That’s usually the case with mediocre players. I’m not really sure why we’re all even discussing who’s better between two guys who are average. Who cares? They’re both average. Lol

I agree with this 100% BO offers nothing to this offense, I think today is proof of that

  81. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Really Michael Thomas, you hid a cell phone in the goal post for a prop celebration and get a penalty for it in a big game. WTF is going on with these players?

  82. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
That’s why I said Gase…and every coach…better know how to coach selfish, diva players because the league is full of them. You can’t just get rid of them all.

  83. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I don’t see anything smart about Osweiler. He missed several coverages and blitzes today.
What smart thing has he done?
Tannehill is definitely smart in scientific IQ sense, and he knows the entire playbook including every other offensive player’s plays.
He takes some sacks he shouldn’t, but that is mainly because he wants so badly to make a play right up till the last microsecond and also because he had very conservative coaching and receivers who couldn’t get open his first 3 years.
He has a very strong arm and is far more accurate that Oz.

    • herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I explained my thought on that replying to Tim. I also said he is better skill wise. It’s football so they aren’t doing quadratic equations out there. And wanting to make a play to the last micro second and taking a sack that hurts your chances overall isn’t smart play. Just my opinion.

  91. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I don’t think Tanny hangs tough in the pocket to make a play. I think he struggles with feeling pressure, making quick reads and getting the ball out on time. It he is doing it on purpose, then he’s a moron. Lol

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

no i think he views it as trying his best, giving 110%, but i agree sometimes the results are tragic.

I do not believe it is possible to give 110%, because there is no such thing as 110%, so ppl who strive for that often commit errors of over-confidence or “pressing,” as my coaches used to call it.

  92. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I really don’t see how any other team does win or lose is of any consequence to us. We barely beat the Jets who are not having a good year either.
