2018 Season – Game 14 – Dolphins @ Vikings

WOW!  What an amazing finish to the Dolphins vs Patriots game.  That one easily slots historically among some of the best games I have seen this team play.  Even if we lost this game, we went punch for punch with the Patriots all day long, but we came up with a Rocky II ending.  Not sure if you all noticed, but we scored more than 30 points for the first time in regulation, and we did against the Patriots!  Crazy!

Ryan Tannehill.  Forget about the future, this young man deserves a lot of credit for his toughness and grit he’s displayed this season.  You could see he was hurting, and I admire his resolve to stick it out, and help his team to victory.  He’s been getting beat up all season, but like a Timex, he takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

OK, down to business.  This game, aside from the excitement meant a lot to me as a fan.  These are the games in the last decade that we would crumble and succumb to the pressure of needing to win and stay alive, and this team pulled out a stunner against the TD + favorites New England Patriots.  They were clutch.  They made plays, and they got contributions from the QB.  We were missing arguably our best defensive player (Xavien Howard), and it showed, but we did just enough to win.  I think Gase earned some respect yesterday.  Smoke and mirrors, we’re -55 in points and we’re 7-6.  Crazy!  What we as Dolphins fans have to hope is that this game was a springboard to a playoff run.  If we can beat NE when it counts, then no other game on the schedule is impossible

Despite the fact that it will be about 30 degrees at kickoff next Sunday against the Vikings, the game will be in a domed stadium, US Bank Stadium, so the weather won’t be a factor.  It will definitely be loud, but we can overcome that.  The Vikes have had an up and down season, and they face the Seattle Seahawks this evening in Seattle.  At the moment, the Vikings are 6-5-1, and although they have showed the potential to score, their last 3 games they have scored 20, 24 and 10, and have lost 2 of 3.  Kirk Cousins has done well for the Vikes, but RB Dalvin Cook has been battling injuries, and that leaves the much less explosive Latavius Murray as the lead back.  WR Adam Thielen is totally in sync with Cousins, and they have been one of the best if not the best QB/WR duos in the NFL this season.  Thielen has 98 receptions, 1166 yards and 9 TD’s.  We will desperately need CB Xavien Howard back for this game.

As I said in my blog article this past week, the New England game was a statement game, and the statement was “We’re still in this Dolphins fans, stay with us, keep rooting hard, and something special may happen”

I watched the game at my nephew’s house, and although the video is a little rough, it captured that crazy ending, and your faithful “Crazy Dolphins Fan” again.  It’s just funny. Some moments are just humorous when captured on video.  None of us had any idea we were being videotaped by his little Nest camera.

I’ll say this about Kenyan Drake. Not only is he a big time playmaker and versatile offensive weapon, he’s a good character guy and cool dude. Don’t let him walk in 2020 as a UFA, keep him in Miami.

  4. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

GOT TO READ part of an article which said that if MIAMI wins all of their remaining 3 games they have an 83% probability of winning a playoff spot. Same person said if Fins lose to Vikings but beat Jax and Buffalo they have a 42% chance to nab final playoff spot.

I have yet to read how Miami wins the final 3 and still misses playoffs. Does anybody out there have the full details??

Right now, Vikes are 7 point favorites in this game. IF MIAMI gets Xavien Howard back for this game, I’d take the 7 and bet the Fins. However, all bets are off if Tannehill can’t play.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The team is looking at winning each game at a time. All teams do that who don’t have anything wrapped up yet. It’s really simple for Gase, his staff and players – win the rest of our games and our chances are really good. Lose a game you’re relying on a back in option meaning needing lots of help. A big win in MIN would be a huge add on to what just happened on Sunday. You win on the road in MIN, you have a very confident and motivated team with two to go – JAX and BUF.

SAW THAT ROCKPHIN took a swipe at my all-time favorite sportscaster, the one and only Howard Cosell. One notorious Monday Night game during the Perfect Season featured the St. Louis Football Cardinals at the Dolphins in the historic Orange Bowl. Seems as though Dandy Don Meredith had been hitting the wacky weed pretty hard during the 15 minute half time. Just as the two teams came back on the field, two drunk guys ran out onto the 50 yard line and dropped their drawers, mooning the Monday Night TV crew. Dandy Don asked, “Howard, is THAT what they mean by ‘MOON OVER MIAMI?”

An incredulous Cosell looked seriously at Meredith and replied, “NO, Danderoo, that’s definitely NOT what they meant!!” As those in the press box roared, ABC broke to an unscheduled commercial break.

ONE LAST QUESTION. Has anyone seen a report concerning Tanny’s status for the Viking’s game? —OUT for tonight.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

No official report but from what I saw with Tannehill finishing the game (he did execute the pass that started it all) and walking off on his own power at the end of the game means, it’s the old fashioned sprained ankle. 2-3 days of ice and get back on it. Had many of them in my young sports days. We always played through them but we weren’t paid millions to do so. LOL

    ______________________________

I started noticing it when Oswieler took over, he would get pressured and right before contact he would give up on the play secure the ball and take the hit, I seen Tanny do the same in the Pats game

  18. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

If we can somehow pull out a win in Minny, that would be crucial as we have a favorable last two games, Balt has an easy schedule as well but Pittsburgh has a tough road to hoe! NE…N.O …& Cincy. Indy has Dallas..Giants…@ Tenn

  19. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

If NE loses at Pitt they will be 9-5, if we win at Minny we will be 8-6, 1 game behind with 2 left, that will be very interesting!

SAW THAT ROCKPHIN took a swipe at my all-time favorite sportscaster

OD, I didn’t take a swipe at anyone. It was well publicized that your favorite sportscaster was criticized for saying something like “That little monkey can get lose” or “look at that little monkey run”

I’m too young to remember the exact phrase he used. But he caught a lot of flack for it and tried to BS his way out saying he calls all young people “little monkeys” because he calls his grand children little monkeys. The following season he retired from announcing football citing “lack of interest in the game”

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He wasn’t being racist. Did everyone forget the relationship he had with Ali?

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

No question about his relationship with Ali, yet somehow the same people that think he’s guilty of racism would say Ali made Cosell as much Cosell made Ali, therefore it was simply a business arrangement, which is not the case.

The Ravens have officially named Lamar Jackson their starting QB and Flacco is now the backup. Not sure Jackson will hold up long-term the way he plays/runs, but he’s the guy now.

  25. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Rob

Back to what you said earlier, I wouldn’t doubt you’re right on that. We had that Bengals game in our hands, and lack of ball security cost us that game. I would think Gase laced into them for those errors, and preached how important it is to be mindful of where you are and everyone else is on the field, and to protect the ball.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yep but even Tannehill said he’s not sure he could have done much about the strip sack. The guy who forced it is like 6-7 with really long arms and got him from behind. The one he threw that banged off the helmet for the INT return is the one he said in hindsight taking the sack would have been the better choice. But he was trying not to take a big loss. A lot came apart in that 4th quarter and it wasn’t just on Tannehill but at the end of the day ball security is paramount for all players.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I didn’t think the strip was really his fault, that guy came around the right side way too fast, but the pass he threw should have been out of play. Russell Wilson made a similar play the other night, which is pretty atypical for him.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah his decision wasn’t good on that play. He was trying to throw it at the TE’s foot but it never made it.

  26. Randy's avatar Randy says:

QBs are taught to keep both hands on the ball until they are cocking to throw….especially when they are scrambling.

  27. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

The Miracle play was the 14th touchdown pass of 20 yards or longer by the Dolphins this season, a figure that tops the NFL.

  28. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

In eight games this season, Tannehill has posted a passer rating of at least 100 five times.

He has the 6th highest rating in NFL this year.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Those kind of stats might not be real popular with some…. but then haven’t heard much about Brock to start in 2019 recently either. 🙂

  29. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Something like a dozen QBs have a QB rating over 100. What’s your point again?

  30. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Stanger – Brock didn’t get it done, but there was nothing wrong about taking a look at him to see what he could do. He had his chance, and he was pretty poor. That answered that question.

  31. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I just counted. 23 QBs who have thrown at least 100 passes….had to get Tanny in there because he’s only thrown 132….have a QB rating of 90 or higher. 19 are higher than 95. 14 are 98 or higher. It’s a different league.

  32. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,
I’ve never cared much about QB ratings. Does he score points? Does he win big games? Does he make players around him better? Does he lead? That’s what I think matters most. Tanny has been okay when he’s been out there this year. People throw out his stats to try to suggest he’s something special, and he just isn’t. Hell, he even gets credit for a 70 yard TD….which helps his stats tremendously….and all he did was throw about a 15 yard pass to a wide open receiver against a prevent defense and watch while a few pitches later we score….he was about 3% responsible for that play. Lol Stats are meaningless unless you look at them contextually. Perspective.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Of course stats have to be taken into context, and honestly, I don’t think anyone here is trying to make it seem Tannehill is great. He’s playing well enough lately to keep us in games, and that’s what’s important. He played well last week even w/o that TD play at the end. Considering the fact that we’re doing all this with a lot of people missing on the O-line and WR’s makes it a little more impressive. I can level out some criticism about Tannehill as good as anyone, but right now he’s helping us win. I hope he can keep it up.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Of course. That’s why I amazed when he does play well some fans are still looking for things to drag him down about. Just enjoy it. We’re Dolphins fans right? That’s like having a pitcher who’s been pitching really well during a stretch and instead of enjoying it you say well he’s never been that great. Okay! But right now he’s pitching well. LOL

  33. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Injury update: Cornerback Xavien Howard, who sat out the New England game because of a knee injury, did not practice Wednesday but there is good news in that he has begun running. Howard was injured during his second interception during the victory against Buffalo two Sundays ago. “We’ll just kind of see how the week goes,” Gase said. “You’re always hopeful, at the same time we’ve just got to make sure … the lateral movement is really the key to everything.” Gase said the key for Howard is making sure he won’t be in danger of aggravating his injury and being able to play “the way he needs to play.”

  34. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

IT’S OFFICIAL. FAU’S Devin Singletary, who’s led Division I college football in touchdowns each of the last two seasons (total of 54 TD’s) is turning pro. I don’t know where the Kipers and McShays have him rated, but I’d certainly consider him in the 3rd round if he’s available. NOT SURE if Gore is coming back next season (he’ll be 36). But I AM SURE that Singletary will play on Sundays. I hope he plays for the Dolphins!!
    ——————
TOO EARLY to do much talking about the April draft. But, subject to changes,my current preference would be; ROUND 1: QB, if Grier is still available. ROUND 2: Best available offensive Guard or Center; ROUND 3: Best interior Defensive lineman available; ROUND 4: Best available pass rusher or running back available. Free agency acquisitions, trades, injuries, etc. could change our top 4 needs dramatically between now and April. But that’s how I see it NOW.

    MikeE,
I’ve never cared much about QB ratings.
    ____________________________________

Normally the top QBs in passer rating usually have one thing in common, a good record and playoff bound.

  39. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Ryan Tannehill has truly perplexed me over the years. For weeks at a stretch, he’ll perform like a bottom-20 QB. Then he’ll have a game or two where it looks as though his light is finally coming on. Then he’ll revert to the pre-mentioned bottom-20 QB… followed by a game or two again looking like a stud.

Forward to 2016, where it finally looked as though he was putting it together down the stretch, and then he gets injured… followed by once again injuring the same knee during camp in 2017. Forward to this year, where he more or less looked like a mediocre QB before his shoulder injury. Yet after coming back from his shoulder injury earlier this season, he’s been an ABSOLUTE STUD for us… bereft of a true starting O-Line, down two starting WRs (Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant), while fighting through injury.

WOULD THE REAL RYAN TANNEHILL PLEASE STAND UP? I mean, we can’t anoint the guy any more than we can crucify the guy.

SMO (Strictly My Opinion): if Tanny can show positive consistency over the last 3 games we have this year, we just might make the playoffs. What’s more, he’ll not only be back next season… he’s going to be our starter.

The only thing Tannehill lacks is CONSISTENCY! Now SHOW ME (in my best Old Dolfan impersonation)!!! 🙂

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

PS: If Tannehill continues to impress over our last 3 games, he’s EARNED everything he’s fought for and through. I, for one, would LOVE to see it happen!

      GO TANNY!!!
      GO PHINS!!!

      • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Hes definitely the starter next year. Still doesnt change they need to bring in a another or 2 QBs. Regardless of his play, hes taken a pounding and we’ve seen what happens when they start getting hurt, they start mounting.
And from what I’ve seen no QB coming out is a day 1 starter anyway.

Ryan Tannehill became the only QB to defeat Tom Brady four times in the regular season.

  42. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Naples, why can’t you not grasp it? Tannehill did not win the game against Tom Brady. all he did was throw an easy Pass and watch someone else make a play to win the game. stats don’t matter if they are good they only matter if they are bad and can prove that he is a bad quarterback. a passer rating in the top 10? Meaningless wants Tannehill achieves it. Before that it’s a benchmark. He is not accurate downfield until he is and then that doesn’t matter. he holds the ball too long until he is one of the quickest quarterbacks to get rid of the ball and then that doesn’t matter. it’s all about the eyeball test and when you are a blind heater you will never see it

  43. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Give credit where credit is due, Tanny is 5-3 as a starter this year, won 12 of his last 16 games and he’s in the top 5 in passer rating.

  44. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

you won’t find a rookie to replace him, he’ll be here and starting next year and i would assume they will extend his contract in march to save on the cap hit.

  45. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

there are 4 potential 1st rnd QBs this year so one of them may fall to us, but i’m not sold that they will draft a QB with their #1 pick. I know Tannenbaum has been scouting them but Gase may think we have a higher priority of needs at other positions.

I think Osweiler is a serviceable back-up if he stays. does Gase take his most valuable pick in the draft and select a player that will not play?

not sure if we draft a QB, but if we do i like Haskims or Grier.

  46. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I’ve always wondered if they are miss pronouncing positions, first of all you have a “Quarteback” which makes sense be cause under center he’s usually a quarter of the way back, but here’s where the confusion comes in, next behind the QB you have a “fullback” and behind him you have a “halfback”

    shouldn’t the FB-HB be reversed??

  47. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

with that said, i’ll go with the screwed up version, Gase needs to learn to get into a power set, have a big “Fullback” who is half the way back, and give it to him in short yardage plowing up the middle. that or run a QB sneak.

3rd and 1 has cost us games!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s not Gase’s thing Rob. You want Jim Harbaugh, he’ll give you that all day long.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Also, I think the QB sneak thing is not a great option because we don’t get any reliable push in the interior, either LG, C or RG. You have to have at least one solid option to go behind, I think we have zero

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I don’t care how Gase calls the game, but in 3rd and 1 you have to go with a high percentage play, not line up in the wildcat with Ballage, Ballage is standing to far behind the LOS to have a good percentage to make that play.

make the first and live for another set of downs, he does not call high percentage plays on 3rd and 1, I remember a lame pass to stills on 3rd and 1 that cost us the game!

  48. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I don’t think you can stop a QB sneak on third and one, the QB is too close to the LOS, the defense can not react quick enough, he’ll get the yard without a doubt, see Tom Brady.

  49. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

that’s why handing it to the FB is a good option also, the FB is close to the LOS with a head of steam, the D can not react quick enough. it’s a high percentage play in regards to the situation.

  50. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

if i had to choose between the two it would be the QB sneak.

  51. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rob – I agree with the wildcat, that was a poor choice. I think with Tannehill being gimpy, he can’t use him for the QB sneak, especially with no one reliable to go behind.

Two last play wins in a row. One dropped ball by the opposition, one perfectly executed lateral play by us. This week has to be either a missed FG by the Vikes or a converted FG by us to win the game.

We’ve had 3 final play wins this year. Might as well finish out the season with 3 more. I always wanted to have a heart attack before 45 anyway.

    Go Dolphins!!!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

He’s really getting killed for the Seattle game. He has earned the tag “Can’t win a big game”. A lot of people in NFL circles are getting on Cousins for that.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Still has a QB rating of 98 and 24 TDs to 9 INTs. Talking about bust with that is pretty harsh.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

If you look at it from the POV that they paid Cousins the big bucks to put them over the top from what Keenum did last season, he hasn’t done it, he’s pretty much even with Keenum with QB rating, but of course, they had 11 wins last season

  58. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Cousins is getting ripped a lot up here. It’s interesting because their OL has been a mess all year, but the QB is still getting all the blame….or most of it.

    Phish,
I was just kinda passing along what the conversation is up here. Cousins is getting ripped way more than Tanny ever has. It’s not close. Lots of these fans are vicious up here. Lol. I think it has to do with his huge guaranteed contract too. They talk about the OL but like any NFL town, it’s mostly about the QB. Most people think he’s played badly. Media and fans.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I can understand why. They’re not scoring, and they have a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball. Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, Dalvin Cook, Latavius Murray, Kyle Rudolph. They were scoring OK in the beginning to middle of the season, but the last 5 games have been 7, 10, 24, 20 and 24. That’s why fans are upset. It’s like now it’s crunch time, and they’re folding.

  62. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Randy – I don’t doubt they are vicious up there. Especially with a contract that big. Here in DC they ripped him because of the franchise tag money. And no, RT doesn’t get it that bad.

I only have the KC kicker Butker going. He has Mahomes, Hill and Allen from the Chargers going. I have plenty of firepower too going on Sunday and Monday with Gurley, Kamara, J. Jones and Bears DEF. My main decision is who else I start at WR/TE and do I go Trubisky or Rodgers?

  71. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

NOBODY will ever compare to Dan the Man. But IMO, this game features the vet who probably most closely resembles Marino than anyone since (Phil Rivers), and the young buck who is out to break some of Marino’s early records (Pat Mahomes).

        Go Rodgers!

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

ER, the Bears DEF dominated the Rams last week who are better on offense than the Pack and the game is in CHI. I know Rodgers can have a big time game any week and he beats the Bears all the time. But this is not the same Bears team and I think they want revenge after dominating early in their last matchup and Rodgers beating them with a comeback. The Bears clinch the division with this win. I think they will be fired up. It’s going to be a game time go my gut type of decision.

Right now, my opponent has 18 pts to my 3 with Mahomes, Hill and Allen (possibly out). I might not have to worry as much on Sunday.

Hey look Damien Williams just scored. Another Xpt for me. LOL

I like Rivers. He’s a gamer… a gunslinger. That SD team was ballsy tonight. KC still leads in division and conference records but SD put themselves in a position to pounce if they win out and KC slips up. Really ballsy move by SD, I like it. 🙂

  86. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

These playoff scenarios can get messy at times. If you want us to get in, you should be rooting for the Pats to beat the Steelers. And Pitt plays the Saints game after. Just don’t have in me to wish for that.

  87. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I think we want the Steelers to lose, they have a half game lead on us, they play the Pats..Saints and Bengals.
    Balt plays…the bucs….chargers …browns
Chargers are playing good so that may be a loss, the other two seem like cake.

Steelers have a much harder remainng schedule, it would seem they are who we are fighting against for the last playoff spot, along with the other 7-6 teams, The Ravens look as if they may win the North. They’ve been playing great.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Best thing for us is that both Ravens and Steelers are playing for the conference….. and one of them will lose. Which means the other will be losing some games.

  88. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Find it amazing that no one wants to talk Phins with a big game and a playoff run in the picture. Maybe have been missing that this place is not always about football and the haters are deflated. Maybe if Tanny has 5 INTs and butt fumble 2.0 on Sunday things will pick up. 🙂

  89. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    stanger,
Never fear. If Tanny does throw 5 INTs and has 2 fumbles, the Tanneholics will still blame the OL for everything, claim he had a great game and try to convince themselves he’s getting better…..again. Lol

I did not realize that the Bills are #1 in defense in yards allowed.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I kinda dread the possibility of going into Buffalo week 17 with a playoff spot on the line. Over the years, Buffalo has ended our season probably more than any other team in the league.

Although, regardless of outcome, it would be nice to be fighting for a spot in the dance in week 17.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah man that’s what sports is about. Of course you want your team to make the playoffs but being in the hunt all season is fun as opposed to being done with a bunch of games to go.

I know Gase gets some flack around here for this and that but I have to say he’s kept this team alive with a lot of adversity. Now a loss and definitely two could end all that, but hey, it’s fun being in the mix with 3 to go. At one point we weren’t sure that would be the case. You look back at the Bengals and Colts games and say damn. But then again we pulled some games out of our ass too. LOL

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

That win against the Pets revitalized my energy for this team, I needed it. I’m just enjoying the ride for another week now, hoping we can get one in Minny. It was a crazy win just like the week before, but we’ve been on the other end so often it was nice to be on the happy side, lol.

  92. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I would be shocked if Pittsburgh were able to beat NE, first of all NE is coming off a devastating loss, since Tomlin took over Brady has completed 71 % of his passes with 23 tds and 1 pick. Brady is 7-1 against Tomlin and the Steelers.

  93. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I figure there is no way the Patriots lose at home to either the Bills or the Jest with the division on the line, so as much as it galls me, I’ll be rooting for the Steelers to lose.

We would jump over the Steelers if they lose to the Pets. If that happens, we only need Indy to lose one of their last 3 games, and us to win out for the last spot to be ours.

The Colts and Tenn play in the last game of the season, if both win their next two games we have to have Tenn beat the Colts or the Colts win a tiebreaker with us. We win a tiebreaker with Tenn.

There won’t be a 3 way tie unless everybody loses at least one game (assuming the Steelers lose).

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

If we’re going to lose a game, and hope the other teams do too, this week is the week to lose. We have a better conference record than the Colts and Tenn. If this played out, we’d still need to Colts to lose to Tenn though, otherwise they win a 3 way tiebreaker due to sweeping Tenn and us.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

If we win out we make it over the Colts because conference record is the first tiebreaker, not head to head. We’re 6-4 and they’re already 6-5. We’d finish 8-4 and they can’t do any better than 7-5.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I think it’s because for head to head to apply between 3 teams, the ‘winning’ team has to have swept all the other teams. The Colts beat Tenn once, but still have to play them again. If they split with Tenn, then head to head is thrown out for all of us (if we end up in a 3 way tie).

  95. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
I know, right? How the OL haters on this blog treat those poor fat boys is silly. Even after a game where we rush for almost 200 yards, score 33 points and beat a divisional powerhouse they STILL get called horrible and treated as if we accomplished all that inspite of the OL. It most definitely is silly. Thank you for pointing that out. 🙂

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

      “Larsen! Larsen! Larsen!”

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

When did I bash the OL in the Pats game? I was calling out the defense to make a stop and they did a few times to keep the game alive. I called the OL out in the BUF game for a stretch where we couldn’t block anything.

  96. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Considering all the injuries we’ve had on the O-line, I’d say we’ve done pretty well.

  97. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’m hesitant about my approach for this game. I’d be lying if I said my expectations haven’t gone up since beating NE. My toe is in the water and it feels OK, do I go all the way in?

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’m just rolling with it. I basically look at this game the same as the Pets game. I just want to look like an NFL team. If we compete and lose a good game, I’m ok with it. If we lose 40-8, I’m going to be pissed.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That’s kind of what I mean. Do I go in thinking we’re legit, or 1 week pretenders? I want to go in expecting a good game, and if like you said, we get blown out 40-8, it will be very aggravating. I’m pretty sure I’m not expecting us to get killed in this game, so if we do, it will be a big disappointment

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yeah, I think we’re in the same place. This team has pulled the rug out from beneath out feet so many times, it’s hard not to be skeptical, but love of the team, and a desire to believe keeps making fools of us. I think this describes it best:

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

      No, lol. No

  98. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Tim,
I actually think technically Indy should be listed ahead of us (if you apply the tie-breakers as listed). Indy and Tenn are in the same division, one of them would be knocked out of a tie before moving to the next factor. At this point that would be Tenn who is knocked out. Then Indy wins head to head against us. I think the fact they still have to play again just moves them both down the list.

  99. Randy's avatar Randy says:

If our offense can look competent and score 4 times or so against them, I’ll be very impressed. 3rd downs are gonna be huge. We need to stay out of 3rd and long. I’ll be interested to see how Gase calls the first 2 downs.

  100. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:
