No rumors, lips are zipped in Davie FLA

The NFL draft is just 15 days away, and our beat writers here, you know them well, Omar Kelly, Armando Salguero, Adam Beasley etc. have been silent. Usually at this time there are names floating around that we are especially interested in, but not this year. I like it. Keeps us all guessing, as it should be. Perhaps Grier and Co. are also running a tight ship, which should also be commended.

I’m still completely unsure where we’re going at #13, or if we even stay at #13, or move up, or move back. I do think all of the above are possible depending on what happens in front of us, if we have enough interest in a certain player to make a move up, or if we’re just staying true to our board ready to select whomever we think is the best fit for our team. Will the Cards really take Kyler Murray at #1? If they don’t, does he fall? Is Dwayne Haskins really set for a fall as some prognosticators are saying? If he does, do we gladly stop his fall, or do we continue his slide and take a DE, DT or OL?

Is there a QB in this draft that we have a strong interest in? It could be Will Grier, who’s a projected 2nd or 3rd pick. It could be Tyree Jackson, who could go anywhere from the 3rd RD or later. Heck, maybe it’s Gardner Minshew or Easton Stick. No one in MIA really seems to have an idea, which is pretty surprising.

We know we need DL help, especially at DE. Sack production from our current crop of defensive ends in the NFL is abysmal. Yes, Jayrone Elliott led the AAF with 7 sacks, but in the NFL in 3 seasons with the Green Bay Packers he had only 4 sacks total. In other words, temper your enthusiasm. There could be a few very nice prospects who may make it to #13, such as DE’s Montez Sweat, Clelin Ferrell and Rashan Gary. We might have a choice of DT’s such as Ed Oliver and Christian Wilkins. On the OL side we may have a chance at Jawaan Taylor of Jonah Williams. Any one of these players would help our team going forward.

So let’s all hope for the best for our draft this year, but also understand that no draft will sate the majority of Dolphins fans, because we all have different ideas of how it should be done. Looking forward to April 25 to see who our 1st pick is!

    O-Rob,

Man, I knew the conclusion of the Masters without wanting to know, having checked into Twitter several times today. What was nice, though? I was able to see the tape delay by the time I got home.

I mean, I turned on the TV, and they were just starting the 18th hole. To see the winning stroke, to see the fist-pump, and hear the ROARING of the crowd was enough to give me chills! Then the crowd started chanting, “Tiger! Tiger! Tiger!”… ya just knew we were all seeing something most special.

Yessir, CONGRATS to TIGER WOODS! That was something to see, man!

Don’t think so, they are a giant octopus, check out their streaming conference from last Thursday, they are gonna have streaming for 7 bucks a month, content will blow away netflix, and will include live sports, news, shows, movies, etc Look out Netflix.

Netflix was down almost 5 Friday, they Got pancaked by the Disney Tank.
Disney had their best day in ten years!

Investors are selling Netflix to buy Disney, and Netflix is a $350 stock, HMmmmmmm, Yea
    ————–
Can’t disagree with ya on any of this. Yes, Disney seems poised to take over the short-term market in a great many ways.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m trying to recall… who was that power-couple who went all-in with Netflix? They even began to dictate some of the programming that would be coming forward…

      • I honestly don’t know, to be honest, I never really wanted to buy Netflix, I figured they were near max in the market, and stock was overbought.

All I know of them is they are in deep do do with their limited content and expensive prices.

I would guess, that Netflix will fire something back, surely they won’t just sit back and watch Disney steal their company’s value away.

I’m guessing Netflix will up the ante, offer more content, and match Disney price. If they don’t, It’s over for them imo

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

The answer is Barack and Michelle Obama.

      • Netflix, WAS a great stock to own years ago, it had phenomenal growth,

it’s just not a good buy now , imo, its overbought, and has the stiffest competition it ever had before.

Expect more correction on Netflix, it’s not looking good, hopefully the Obamas bailed on Netflix, and buy more Disney Monday to drive up the price more, lol

I’m holding Disney long term, and leaving them for My son when I’m gone

Just a friendly reminder from last year… last time we put our heads together like this, we collectively determined that our 1st round draft pick would be Tremaine Edmunds.

Well, we were most fortunate that Minkah fell to us! Had he not fallen to us? It was revealed that our pick would have been… Tremaine Edmunds. This board got it RIGHT… though none of us thought Minkah would fall to us.

Pretty good minds here!!! I wonder what we might come up with THIS year?!!

“From the coaching staff, the compensatory pick emphasis, the multiple defense ideology, passive free agent approach and more, Miami morphs more and more into “South New England” seemingly by the day.”

Interesting comment by Kyle Crabbs from Dolphin’s Wire (USA Today), but was just a set up for how our salaries will not be allocated the same. And main reason is will not have a high cost QB. Guess flip side of finding what every team is looking for is once you get him you have to pay him.

One thing Miami won’t copy from New England? Salary cap allocation

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

You have to pay pass rushers big money too as we’ve seen recently. That’s why you have to draft well if you want to let a guy walk and not pay him top dollar you already have his replacement.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Yep — and that is part of the reason that the big money positions go so high in the draft every year. Talking QB, edge, OT, CB mainly. Obviously they are critical on the field, but you are also getting a huge discount with a rookie salary over what a star FA at the position would cost.

Why the heck is Tiger Woods getting the Medal of Freedom for winning the Masters? WTF?

So, he screwed up his life and career, went through hell, and just completed an amazing comeback to be on top in his profession again. Kudos to Tiger for getting his life and career on track. I’ll be rooting for him to win a few more majors and pass Nicholas. But he didn’t do anything to merit that medal IMO.

Might as well give it to Chloe Kardashian too. She’s been such a trooper through this whole cheating scandal. The whole nation is rooting for her. SMFH

Kong that I will not be doing. Get that everyone associated with Golf does for ratings, but think the most deserved award he got in his life was a 3-iron to his windshield. If the Golden Bear is a jerk…. he hides it real well.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

LOL @ his “most deserved award”. I can appreciate your point of view.

I feel he’s done his time, paid a heavy toll, and hopefully come out the other side a better man. He’s the greatest golfer I’ve ever watched, and I’d like to see him show us more.

Of course, considering my expertise on the subject of golf, my saying he is the greatest I have ever watched is somewhat akin to my saying someone is the greatest theoretical mathematician I’ve ever watch attempting to solve Pillai’s conjecture. (Which is to say I don’t necessarily know all the subtleties of what I am watching, lol.)

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Not a doubt in the world he could have been and still might be the greatest golfer ever. You read what came out though. Would have been different if he was married to that incredibly good looking and sweet woman and met a love match…. wasn’t that at all. No conscience.

Maybe he has found one since then….. but still hoping he is in the hunt often and sets a career record for 2nds and 3rds.

  32. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I think one of the reasons we have not been active on the FA front with our OL is…there’s a time limit for compensatory picks, if we were to replace Juwaun James in FA we would not get that comp pick depending on who we replace him with. after a certain point in the off season we can then sign players without losing that pick…or so i read…
The NFL is hush hush on comp pick rules

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Players who are released and signed don’t count in the compensatory pick formula. It’s about UFAs. So when there are June 1st cuts you can sign them with no worries about that.

I hear ya, Stang. Much respect to your position, and I’m not trying to change your mind, I just don’t want to judge my sports heroes personal lives. I don’t feel qualified. I keep a separation between what they do that entertains me, and what they do at home. If I stopped liking an athlete or actor because they cheated on their spouse, then I wouldn’t have any left, lol.

I draw my own personal line at criminal behaviour. If he’d been convicted of domestic abuse, I wouldn’t root for him. But hell, even Marino cheated on his spouse, and I’ll still root for him to win a Super Bowl even though I think his chances are starting to dwindle.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

No doubt you have to separate to an extent, but I’ve always been a fan of the good guys. When the stuff about Marino came out took some luster off (but heck yeah hop he wins a SB for us).

And part of why I still wear #2 to this day was that Fields ran to the stands after a preseason practice was at to say hi to the kids that were there while most of the other players just headed off to the locker room.

That said, being that it happen accidentally, there isnt much to say other than, law of averages. Eventually all of our monuments will fall, if for no other reason that the slow decay of time. • D's avatar D says:

Main Spire collapsed a while ago. The cathedral that ya see there in the foreground is also gutted, the roof has fallen in though the structure itself is still intact. The problem is the intensity of the flame is going to make the stone brittle, so structurally, its not going to be sound after this. Most likely ther will be very little left that will be safe and wont require it to be brought down. Sad days are still ahead, can you imagine what it will be like to have to knock down some of the rest of it due to safety concerns. I would not want to be involved in that project.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Didn’t know the heat might impact the integrity of the stone. Will they have to demolish the whole thing. Was assuming would rebuilt from the existing stone blocks. Yes a huge amount of work that will take many years, but was thinking could do it from the long ago set frame.

And why on Earth would renovations be going on DURING the Holy Week? That just doesn’t make sense, Stanger… and you know it.

As you greatly stated, “Notre Dame burning is like say the Statue of Liberty in flames”… AGREED! Yet, you are seemingly passing it off as some kind of random and weird construction accident, by merit of your posts above. That’s where I’m disagreeing with you, SIR. So I suppose it’s all settled, even before an investigation begins: it was a mere construction gaffe, huh? I mean, these things just happen to international landmarks by accident, always… especially Christian ones.

    Do I have that right?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s what people were suggesting it could have been. Nobody is saying it’s settled. You almost seem like you’re taking this personal.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m not Catholic, thus I don’t take this too personally. However, my Catholic brothers represent Christ, too. Should it be determined that it was a strike against the Church (regardless of sect), I WILL take it, personally… and as should EVERY man, woman, and child who doesn’t want to become part of the Islamic empire.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s not what I meant. You seem to take it personally that people are suggesting that it simply could have been a construction error. It’s natural to think that being that it is under construction. You scoffing at it being a possible construction error and leaning towards it being terrorism is doing the same thing, speculating. Nobody wants to hear it was terrorism. That’s going to create more friction and hatred in the world.

For me it’s not even about religion as much as the cathedral is part of human history. We’re going to find out eventually what the cause was.

    —————
You said it… SUGGESTING. I don’t like (and SO MANY!) suggestions/excuses — especially suggesting it being a mere accident — until a full investigation is done, that’s all.

Had this happened to a synagogue or a mosque, the white people would be blamed for it, INSTANTLY… no accident, no investigation, BOOM… the white man did it, an open-and-shut case.

I’m SAYING(!!!), let’s see how this plays out, instead of people trying to already explain it away over something that has yet to be understood, analyzed, or even looked into as the fire still burns.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I agree let it play out. But you were calling out Wyo and Stanger for their comments as if they thought nothing of it and it’s no big deal.

The reason I lean towards it not being an act of terrorism is because there were no reports of an explosion or suspicious activity in a very crowded area. And that construction was going on. But we’ll see.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

As of right now it’s not political or religious. It’s a structure that had a horrible fire. That happens too.

As I said earlier I had my suspicions because of the week it happened. But I cannot say for sure it was that. No reason for people to get into debates without knowing any details other than it has suffered horrible damage. The saddest thing about it at the end of the day is it will never be the same.

Piggy, radical environmentalists make things worse with their bleeding heart beliefs. That’s real! Deforestation efforts get curtailed by their emotions over don’t kill the trees and wildlife. But it’s part of nature and because of human activity. Native people learned this many moons ago and did their own burns. We now have to be the micro-management stewards of nature because we humans created many of these problems. We’re not just a part of nature, we’ve become a force of nature. Sometimes the decisions we humans make don’t coincide with the natural order and we make things worse.

One thing I do believe in firmly though, is every person’s inalienable right to freedom in the chaotic and indiscriminate use of commas. I believe commas are one of the last bastions of individual expression. Comma use should be like the wild west of grammar, might makes right, and everyone makes their own rules. Use commas as you will, because the actual rules regarding proper comma use are far too vast in number to be truly understood unless you are some sort of idiot savant of comma understanding and application.
