Potential Miami Dolphins 2019 Depth Chart

We have an awful lot of time between now and the start of the season, and considering we haven’t seen anything in the way of actual football activities, why not come up with a possible depth chart with nothing to go on? We spend hours upon hours on potential draft picks, so now that we have some players on the roster, might as well throw them on a depth chart for fun! This is how I believe we may start the season, it’s understood more players will be added and subtracted by then . . .

Here’s a dirty secret I’ve mentioned before that many Landry fans never replied to because it wasn’t complimentary for him. Gase said many times when we were in 11 personnel meaning 3 WR, 1 TE and 1 RB, teams played us in base defense. Our opponents covered Landry with LBs and Safeties and he still only averaged around 10 YPC. Parker and Stills got the CBs. That was a major reason I soured on paying Landry a big contract.

With CLE last year Landry had 81-976 12.0 4TD. So on 31 less catches from 2017 he upped his YPCA by 3.2. He is who he is. Accept it!!! It’s getting really fuckin old making him something he’s not. It’s like trying to say Golden Tate is Steve Smith. No he’s not, he’s good but not that good.

Seriously? I actually had to debate with myself whether Xavien or Reshad was our best player. I’m definitely not trying to nitpick at all on opinions, but this has me confounded, Brother! It’s all good, regardless. 🙂

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I give the nod to X at a more premium position and even better. Besides the picks are the games he held top WRs to very little production. X gained a reputation for throwing his way bad things might happen. Even Tom Brady on that bomb he threw and X picked it off he told him; where did you come from? LOL

Dolphins CB Xavien Howard picks off Tom Brady for the second time

    • Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

I saw him out of position MANY times last year!

      • good luck with his replacement , high priced FA Danny Amendola SMH

    CAN’T WAIT!!!

  11. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Welp, that really sucked

  12. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Of course every team wants a #1 WR that’s 6’3″ and 220, that catches 100 balls for 1800 yards and 16 TDs, but there’s not many like megaton.

A #1 WR is just a great WR, he comes in all sizes, he’s the guy that is tough to cover in the redzone and in clutch situations, and there’s not many of them in the league.

Anyone that says they dont want a #1 WR on there team doesn’t have one and is making excuses why they don’t need one.

    • we do need at the very minimium a top 50 WR, we dont have one.
our WR’s are among the worst in the NFL

maybe we dont need megatron, but we sure could use an Edelman,

we dont need chump change either, our receivers arent even top 50 material.

this is a position we need upgrades, and will need to address it next season since we werent able to this year

  13. anyone catch the buzzer beater shot last night by Leonard? that was some game, and an exciting finish

  14. i think yall are just fucking with me, lol im onto it. alright i laughed too ,,,

there cant be a single person that thinks we upgraded Landry with Amendola

if that were the case, expect AMendola to have a great year this year! GO Amendola!

hopefully Amendola can break NFL records for Miami this year, maybe win the MVP in the super bowl like Edelman did,
and then we can all forget that good for nothing Landry guy that wanted to be paid for his performance

  15. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Saw the talk again about Landry. I liked him when he was here. He was solid. Historically he is a guy that will give you 3-4 first downs per game and 4-5 TD’s per YEAR. His production did not warrant being paid the same as the highest paid WR’s in the league.

  16. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Hey Landry’s Mom!

I never said I was happy he was gone. I said he wasn’t (and still isn’t) worth the compensation he was trying to get. Landry had ONE year with 9 TD’s. Historically he has had 4-5 TD’s 26 in 5 years INCLUDING his 9 two years ago. That is 5.2 per year. Amendola was a Vet filler piece he wasn’t brought in as a savior.

The salary discussion was not about the fair contract that Landry got on his rookie deal, it was about the bloated over payment he wanted and got from the Browns.

If you think it was worth it for the Browns to pay $16,777.00 per catch, $335,555.00 per first down and $3,775,000.00 per TD then we will always disagree.

    • not Landrys Mom. just cleaning up Your inncorrect stats

Your math is wrong, because You think Landry only scored 3-4 TD; when he scored 9 for us

why do we care what the browns spend for him? thats irrelevant to Miami

you forgot what he did here

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I didn’t forget what he did here. I just not bitter about the team making SOUND financial decisions by letting him walk in free agency.

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

and you are misquoting me as ushe

I said 4-5 TD’s not 3-4 TD’s he gave us 3-4 first downs per game.

Have both a hard time putting anyone as overrated, our teams doesn’t really have them anymore. Only Jones and Howard really qualify since they are the only ones with big contracts, but they pretty tyically live up to those so hard to call them overrated. Almost put alonzo there too, but again, he pretty much earns his keep.

Underrated also has a few others that could be there. Vincent Taylor, Davon Godchaux, Matt Haack, etc. I guess its just a sign of the type of team we are right now, filled with a bunch of guys who are not big names but are fairly capable of putting up good numbers for us.

I also think Shaq Calhoun could really surprise us, being undrafted and i think there is a good chance he could start at OG for us by the time the season starts.

So the NFLN is all about a first time NFL HC and a #1 pick rookie QB that have never coached or played in an NFL game. It’s getting to the point where I hope they both fail. How many more times do I need to see Kingsbury showing his rookie QB in shorts and wearing a helmet how to set your feet and throw a pass with no pass rush over and over and over and over. I mean seriously! Is there anyone else on the Arizona Cardinals football team? Are there any other teams in the NFL other than the fuckin Arizona Cardinals? Hey NFLN, don’t become ESPN, it doesn’t end well.

  31. D's avatar D says:

Man i am hearing nothing but moaning from all the GOT fans around here. I am kinda glad i haven’t watched much this season it seems like i fell behind at the right time.

  32. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tim – The GOT books were awesome, but George RR never finished book 6 which is what some of last season and all of this season would have been based on. He let the producers run with it with very little consultation from him. Their decision to condense this last season into 6 episodes was also a mistake because it’s obvious that they’re rushed to get to the culmination without much care how they get there. I thought a couple of episodes were good this season weren’t bad, the Winterfell episode in particular was a good one, but then they just totally deviated from the “new” character traits the characters developed. Some changed entirely and some they kept the same, but it’s very contradictory IMO. It’s like in almost 2 seasons a character has a change of heart, then because it seems like they don’t know to end it, that character reverts back to how they were years ago. Not that it’s not possible, but from one episode to the next, you observe that change, it just comes off as lazy work by the writers. Know what I mean?

I had two theories of how would end and both of mine seem to be still in play.

Walton currently faces a felony charge for carrying a concealed weapon along with three misdemeanor charges, which are resisting an officer without violence, marijuana possession and reckless driving from the March 12 incident, a charge of misdemeanor battery in the Feb. 16 case, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana from the Jan. 16 arrest.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Jones winds up traded before the seaon begins, but we would have a lot more leverage on the trade if it happened after some of the OTA and TC stuff gets underway and some players get hurt, or even before trade deadline during the season.

  49. D's avatar D says:

Jones working out on is how right now doesn’t mean anything as long as the coaching staff are ok with it or have even cleared him to do so. They might not be doing anything that Jones, who is a multi-year vet would need to learn. They do have a team full of noob’s so might be more important for them to be able to work with them right now than vets like Jones anyways. If the coaches come out and say Jones is missed during this time then we know its not a good sign, rigth now its just is what it is.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

They are putting in new schemes at least. And the working out on my own move isn’t so cool for a guy you want to be a team leader…. but maybe he learned about it from Suh. Or maybe a sign that yes he would like to be traded.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

If it was the same coaching staff from last year it wouldn’t be a big deal. But it’s a new staff and system. It’s not a good sign to me.

This is what was said about him from his NFL Draft Profile.
“Everything about how he plays is just so sloppy. He was a big deal when he came in and he just never developed at all. His feet never caught up with his body.” – AFC southeastern scout

    • D's avatar D says:

He is really inconsistent but i dont see why he wouldn’t be signed by someone just because of those inconsistencies. There must be more to it but i haven’t heard anything. He is by far good enough to be a UDFA signing.

  52. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Why is Suh still an FA? No one wants to pay his lazy ass $15M to watch him freelance his way to a mediocre first half, to decide, if he wants to give full effort in the 2nd half.

  55. D's avatar D says:

Wow. I mean i guess i can see his perspective but kinda dickish attitude to carry.

“Speaking Monday, Joe Flacco said he had no interest in mentoring second-round QB Drew Lock.

“I got so many things to worry about,” Flacco said, embarking on his second-straight season of poor leadership ahead of a rookie quarterback. “I’m not worried about developing guys or any of that. That is what it is. I hope he does develop. I don’t look at that as my job. My job is to go win football games for this football team.” As was the case with Lamar Jackson, Flacco figures to be replaced by Lock at some point in 2019.”

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Favre said basically the same thing. 2 years in a row they draft a kid to take his job.

      • D's avatar D says:

I dont think they should spend all their time mentoring and neglect getting ready to lead the team but its just a shitty attitude to state it like that. As a leader one part of your job and what is owed to your team is to help that transition. Whether he likes it or not, that guy is going to be their future and a good teammate would do what they cant to help that.

      • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

He didnt say he wouldn’t answer questions, share knowledge etc….just that it’s not his job to develop him. I agree with him.
Favre said much worse for 3 years up here about ARod. LOL

      • D's avatar D says:

Tarriffs affect the exporting country, as they have to pay more to have their good sold in this country. Now business’ dont normally eat costs like they they roll it over to the cost of their products, so it will cause the cost of Chinese products to go up, but that in turn will get the consumers to switch to buying other products. It will affect them, it wouldn’t be used as a negotiation pawn if it wasn’t effective. I get what you are saying Rock, but Trump isnt wrong on this one, it will hit the Chinese producers hard, its just not quite as straight forward in how it will affect them.

    Regulate!

One of my kid employees was asking why I dont like rap. I laughed and told him it pretty much died for me after the 90s.
    —————-
Man, like you (I presume), Warren G and Nate Dogg’s music were a HUGE part of my high school years! Who else… Digital Underground, 2Pac, Spice 1, Too $hort, Domino, NWA (and all of their solo careers), A Tribe Called Quest, Das EFX, EPMD, Beastie Boys, and I could list about 5 dozen others.

I 100% agree with ya that rap died after the 90s. I’m not ‘eating’ like I used to as an artist/musician/producer, and I can’t and won’t adapt to this new BS they call “music” today (it’s not MUSIC!)… that’s why I’ve kept my day job (wise!), but still put in work on the side to augment my income.

Yes… I’ve always made MUSIC. I’m about keys, strings, melodies, chords, rhythm, a sweet chorus line, and relatively phat drum tracks as a producer. I suppose that makes me an ‘old-schooler’, according to these non-music loving kids of today… WOW!!!

Today’s kids are… out of touch. Most will NEVER appreciate REAL music, nor have most been introduced/exposed to REAL music.

One of my very favorites of all time…

Jones is a veteran and probably knows where he stands in his career and with the Dolphins. It’s on him to come in and show he’s still worth a big salary. It’s in everyone’s interest if he comes in healthy and ready to ball…..however he needs to do that. I doubt anybody on the team cares all that much. We make way too much of OTAs.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Why do they have them then? I get it’s voluntary, but it’s a new staff. Pretty sure he doesn’t know his coaches well or the defensive system.

    • hes got a track scholarship to the u of Georgia,

how much You wanna bet the UGA football coaches talk to this guy, lol

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Can he catch a ball? Can he tackle another human being? Can he run as fast while running routes? Can he digest a playbook? How high can he jump?

IMPRESSIVE, but there’s more to football than just straight-line speed.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Oh yeah… and how much CORE STRENGTH does this guy possess?

  64. im aware of that MF

Usain Bolt isnt in the NFL

but some track stars can make the jump, its been done

for a university the salary cap is low, lol kidding
but it wouldnt cost them anything to try

amazing feat though, he broke a 29 year old record

  67. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Wilson and Grant could real fun in this offense when you think about what the Pats run. The same with a guy like Gaskin. Drake and Ballage rushing and receiving. High percentage bread and butter stuff as you try to set up vertical plays.

One thing I’ve noticed about Rosen watching video of him is he can really fire the ball on a rope quickly. In ARZ he attacked the middle of the field a lot and he throws an impressive deep ball. That’s why you hear he has impressive arm talent. His feet also look good in drops and he’s athletic enough to run bootlegs and such. The physical talent is there. Can he master the decision making part of the game which is what separates the greats from the average.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Then you have this guy who has the talent, he’s got good hands, he’s not a trouble maker but he’s always nagged by some sort of injury. I would love to see him finally have a big season. He’s that guy that can high point vertical routes and get big chunk yards. I’m rooting for him.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Yessir! 100% with ya, Tim. There’s a very good reason that we didn’t cut ties with DeVante.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah because his talent is obvious and the new staff knows him well competing against him. He also realizes his new contract is setup as it’s time DeVante to be who you should be.

  68. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m sorry, but I think our WR room looks pretty darned good… granted, DeVante doesn’t chip a nail, or something to that affect.

The dude who’s really coming on? Brice Butler. And let’s not think that Isaiah Ford is chopped liver, either.

Like the majority of y’all, I agree with ‘quality-quantity’… as opposed to SUPER quality (a true #1, ie: Megatron) over ‘poor-quantity’.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

      Ooops… rather, I don’t want a SUPER quality (a true #1: ie: Megatron) WITH ‘poor-quantity’.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. Chad O’Shea also has 10 years experience working with WRs of all shapes and size as well as guys who aren’t blue chippers.

  69. Rut roo h. Tiger woods in deep shit now
He has a wrongful death lawsuit filed against him

His restaurant served alcohol to an alcoholic,

And then he drove home, but died in a car crash, blood level alcohol was .256
    severe intoxication

    That’s when to call uber

  70. I think our WR are very mediocre, they aren’t among the NFL,s best, not even close.

Yes of course thy can make plays, some exciting ones too, but overall, just mediocre.
Look at the rest of the WR in the NFL, ours don’t stack up
Parkers a first round pick, wtf

Megatron was a first round pick

If we feel we don’t need an alpha WR, then don’t pick WR in the first round, SMH

I’m sure the current FO wouldn’t reach for a WR in the first, we are smarter than that now, or so it appears.
But a first round WR has to be a legit first rounder, Parker isn’t a legit first rounder imo
We reached for a guy that has been here years and done very little

If Flores can turn lemons to lemonade great, but if he does, he gets mad respect, this won’t be easy

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think you’re underrating them. The talent is there even if the production doesn’t jump out at you, but there’s lots of reasons for that. If the TE’s become more productive in the passing game we have plenty at WR and RB to move the ball and score points.

My biggest issue with our roster is can we put a solid OL together and generate a pass rush. I’m not at all concerned with our skill positions on both sides of the ball.

    • I look at it in terms of who we’ve had under center during the time they’ve been here. IMO, things are about to change.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I know you’re Tannehill fan but it was more than that. Injuries to the OL and WR position hampered us quite a bit. They can’t produce if they can’t play.

      • well, injuries are injuries. I’m just talking about the ability to get the ball out on time and on target and that didn’t happen a whole hell of a lot.

we’re going to see the difference having a real quarterback throwing the ball to these guys is going to make this year. you heard it here first. lol

    LMFAO!!! 😆

  74. I can’t stand Devante, but if Flores can get this guy to perform, he’s the best coach in the NFL imo

  75. I hope u guys are right on our WR, we sure need some targets for Rosen

But I will have to borrow something from OD in this situation, SHOW ME

They have shown extremely little so far compared to the rest of the NFL WR,s

  76. I’m rooting for all our guys this year. I want to see all our skill players excel at the highest level and show what they can do.
    Drake
    Ballage
    Stills
    Parker
    Grant
    Wilson
    Gesicki
and everyone else I didn’t mention. The more players we have contributing on offense, the better

  77. MF, he talked horrific and racist lies about Me when I couldn’t defend myself , even attacked my family!

All I did was make a joke about him liking Devante

Want to hear what he said about Me? Probably not

I don’t waste time talking about him, it was ONE little joke, but I don’t feel I owe him any respect, not at all, not even a little bit

But I WILL and DO respect YOU MF, so therefore I won’t speak of him for Your sake, not for his

  78. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think we all need to get a look at this team playing live in some way to get a feel for them. We’re kind of like a bunch of fans waiting for a band to finally come out on stage and determine if they were good or not. LOL

  79. We always have excuses why our receivers didn’t do better

    Injuries, bad offensive line, etc

There are 31 other teams that have similar problems, unless they drafted better talent than we did along the way

It’s hard to believe we were the only team in the league that had injuries or bad blocking or coaching or whatever.

And yet, our WR couldn’t even break the top 50

I’ll withold judgment, for now , because all of us can see improvements in our coaches and drafting, maybe Flores and Rosen are what we needed

But if these guys don’t do something good for us in 2019, I’ll be among the first to say we have to send them packing

We can’t ignore WR talent in a pass happy league

  80. Tim, u kinda sorta nailed it, the wr we have DO have talent, but not production

  81. Am I the only one into bitcoin here .?

How in the fuck can you equate kellen wjnslow jr with the President of my united states????????

    Nevermind don’t answer please!

  83. If anyone’s interested, I highly recommend BTC. It’s making a lot of folks wealthy in a horrible stock market

Stocks are doing so bad it looks like a recession is here, SMH

October 28, 1929 President Hoover agreed to the smoot Howley tariffs
The next day, October 29, the markets crashed and the Great Depression started.

It was so bad, my grandfather got pushed in front of a train gun a man that took his job

My fathers brother died of malnutrition at 14 years old, Food was scarce, and no one had money

My father survived it by stealing watermelons and getting shot at

I Sure hope this doesn’t repeat itself, but the tariffs are horrible for our economy, the worlds markets have corrected by 1 Triillion Dollars

  84. the depression in Germany was so tough, that it enabled a person like Hitler to move in to “save ” the people. that didnt turn out well either

its imperative we get a deal worked out with China, Mexico, and Canada, our prosperity depends on it

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Are you really worried about this? The economy is global and The USA isn’t going to become radically isolationist. Let’s not act as if every other country has their shit together and we don’t. Canada will never survive without us. A little reality here.

    • a little reality? im in the markets everyday getting a little reality. its my job.

what i said is real,, and many other investors are saying similar things

  86. Tim, how much did You lose in the markets this week?

ill share some of this reality with You,lol

    ya ready, this is it

after a horrific week, Friday i had to sell some of my retirement stock in DIsney, when it was down,
because after numerous and wide spread correction in my portfolio put me into margin calls

thats reality for many right now, even my friends in the market arent faring better

check out Apple stock and tell me if YOu would have been happy to own a hundred shares of it last week?

i didnt have Apple, i thought it was overbought. but as it turns out, everything seems overbought

i owned 65 stocks and 2 crypto coins last week, 90 percent of everything dropped except BTC, RIOT, and DPW

thats real as it gets my friend

but the rest that are down, i leveraged the dips and HODL, what else can you do, i cant sell everything thats down

  87. i bought a stock that was 20 percent down thursday looked like a decent buy point, candles were good, what the heck i jumped in, but the dips right

next morning, its down 80 percent! i cant even sell the remaining 20 percent because the stock was downgraded to untradable and a freeze put on it

i hope to get the 20 percent back someday, but its frozen, , stock has zero volume now

100 percent loss overnight, first time i ever have seen that

  88. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i always like to see for myself before i evaluate a guy, giving him the benefit of doubt.

even if the knicks do get that ping pong ball will it help them? will durant leave the dubs? do you really want kyrie irving? irving seems like another go at carmelo. durant is great but he’s proven over the past that he needs support, couldnt win with harden and westbrook so he goes to the best team in the league, i’m not impressed by him at all.
