Jets fire GM Mike Maccagnan, put personnel whiz HC Adam Gase in as interim GM

It’s only a matter of time Mike, only a matter of time . . . Hehehehehehe

You can’t write this stuff! It matters not what I think about Adam Gase during his tenure as Miami Dolphins Head Coach, but one thing that was clear to just about everyone was that Gase definitely has personality issues that prevent him from coexisting with others. That was a huge weakness for him, as he shipped out players who didn’t try hard enough to learn his way of doing things. I defended him during those times too, hoping it really was on the player, but it became a pattern. It’s one thing if you have a long resume of success like say Bill Belichick up in New England. He won’t get second guessed for his decisions because his track record speaks for itself. Bill Belichick has a winning percentage of .680 and a record of 261-123, while Adam Gase’s currently stands at 23-25 and .479. Not much cachet comes with that.

Try and put this in perspective. The Jets allowed Mike Maccagnan to choose the players to add to their roster during free agency, a very active free agency for the cap flush NY Jets. The Jets added RB Le’Veon Bell, LB C.J. Mosely and OL Kelechi Osemele to the tune of $225.5M, all in this recent FA period. Then they let Maccagnan choose the future of the team by running the draft. Also keep in mind the Jets made it clear that Gase would NOT have control over the 53 man roster and had no say in that regard. They said that. Now, they not only give him that as interim GM, but he’s running the entire show. Can you comprehend this? How can they possibly spin this as a positive thing?

I like the direction our team is headed. We seem to be doing everything right, with careful measured steps. Our rivals in NY seem to tripping over their tongues and making unstable decisions. Unless Adam Gase has really learned from his mistakes in Miami, the New York Jets franchise is in for some serious turbulence.

Keep doing things slow, steady and careful, and most of all . . .

So Gase who only cares about offense is now in control of all personnel? It’s public that he did not want Le’Veon Bell so that should work out well. LOL

When was psyched about Gase said many times that he is modeling himself on the evil genius, even if said in a nice way. But seems he has the control freak part as well. We’ll see, but Belicheck’s first HC stint didn’t come with a good record either.

And that is not so say he will be HOF, just that yeah he is Belicheck 2.0.

  12. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

A lot of you were right about Gase. He’s got issues getting along with people and I have to say he’s an egomaniac.

Also this is rumored to be his replacement

Which is a shame bc I like jeremiah

Give up — tried to post 3 images of Gase with his pouty face and hat slung low at press conferences. Punch line was “I am your father Adam” — and man he could be.

As far as accomplishment yes, but not sure why not as far as approach. If a high school coach puts in a West Coast offense does he have to be as good as Bill Walsh?

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’m not sure what Gase’s approach is. What has he done to earn this type of power?

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Apparently by getting hired by the Jets and then getting the GM fired. Earned or not he has it.

I LITERATELY laughed out loud. This is almost verbatim what I tell people about my kids dad. I say I thought he was quirky and charming… turned out to be bat shit crazy. High intelligence but then stupid about many things. But even he doesn’t do that googly eye thing that Gase does.

I knew what a GC was anyway.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I personally support a woman’s right to choose, but I also believe these laws should be determined on a state level by the constituency.

The only things I think should be across the board are no late term abortions (except for health of mother) and required exceptions for rape and incest.

    • D's avatar D says:

I don’t agree with the level of “no exceptions” they have decided to take it to. There are always exceptions and reasons exceptions should be made. That said I’m not ok with late term abortion nor abortion as a form of birth control.

I know what they think they are doing, they think that on a religious and ethical standpoint they are standing up for religious values but they also are not really true to what is written in the Bible which preaches tolerance for all an empathy for all. It’s very intolerant the stance they are taking and they could honor God better by approaching this differently.

Is it ever more apparent in the information age that religion is the root of most of the evil and dissension in the world? I keep seeing on social media that our problems are taking God out of schools and society, and I say that’s a good start. It doesn’t belong in our society as a foundation. It has a horrible history and reputation. Let cults be cults and let individual freedom be just that.

Also if God is almighty, why do some humans tell everyone what he/she/it is and not the almighty one him/her/itself? Somehow people know how to portray God better than God him/her/itself. Anyone else find this curious, suspicious and strange?

    • D's avatar D says:

Religion is not the root of evil, people’s questionable interpretation of it is. Also people use things to push agenda. I promise you their agenda isn’t in the religion isnt in the hearts of those people

      • D's avatar D says:

        It is in the hearts….

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Religion is human created. It’s a cult, a tribe, a group… whatever. No superior being would sign off on this nonsense. It’s so obvious it’s a form of indoctrination with brainwashing involved. Humans tell each other what God thinks. I do believe it’s what holds back human progress. How many God’s are there and what do they stand for? Let’s listen to different flock members tells us so. It’s similar but different too. Oh God, please come down from the heavens and straighten this shit out or what’s the point of all of this?

It’s not about being a proud or arrogant atheist or agnostic, it’s about it never makes sense. When I wake up everyday until I don’t, when does God do anything? The “works in mysterious ways” motto is the biggest scapegoat there is. It’s not an answer, it’s a lie to stop questioning it.

The historical Jesus did not die on the cross for all of our sins, he was executed by humans like many others for threatening certain people in power at the time. The same thing goes on everyday now in 2019 that happened over thousands of years ago. Why can’t we accept that we were fortunately or unfortunately born as humans and got the chance at life that some will never know?

Someday grief of lost loved ones will go away because you’ll join them in RIP. We all know that’s a reality. If you believe there’s a Candy Land existence awaiting you after this life experience, cool. But do you ever ask yourself is it realistic? I do, and I think the lights go out and rest in peace become easy because your time is done.

I know people get all up in arms about this sort of stuff, but come on, you’re reaching for there is no end. There is and it’s hard to swallow and I get it. I don’t want to say goodbye to my loved ones or die myself. But we all will.

Maybe reincarnation exists and that’s cool. It would explain 3-5 year old’s knowing how to play Chopin with no training. LOL

    • D's avatar D says:

I find no harm or evidence to the contrary in Christian belief nor do I refute or find harm in your beliefs. When one person’s personal belief in existence or non existence of a god or the God starts to turn into a my God is better than yours or you no God is wrong and I am right then there becomes an issue. I’ll be honest I’m really comfortable with my beliefs and though I cant proven them I have never found a disproof of them either. I honestly think if you would take less interest in refuting or denigrating Christian beliefs and just say to each their own you would find peace in it. I have my beliefs but it doesn’t stop me from having respect for yours or Muslims or Buddhist or any others. I’m not here to judge the right and wrong of things or defend a God who in my opinion is all powerful and capable of his own defense. I’m here to lead a good life, honorable to a code of conduct that you would find mirrors your own. Does it really matter what the method to living an ethical and honorable life is, if you end up there at the end?

Hypocrisy has always been disturbing to me, family members and friends who I didn’t really trust. I realized that just like them, religion has always given me a negative vibe. If God exists, he gave me this power to think and question right?

And no… just incase you’re wondering, I was never molested or anything like that. Just didn’t like the vibe, but my Mom said just do it because it’s what we do, even though she was no devout Catholic. It was more of a traditional thing. But that didn’t make it any less f’d up. That’s my story. If you believe in science, God doesn’t make any sense unless you believe in evolution. 😉

The whole streets paved with gold and walking around in the clouds does seem a bit far fetched. But as I’ve said here before, I did have what I can only describe as a ‘haunting’ experience. I know it may sound crazy but these things did happen over the course of about a year after this person had died and I was unaware they had died at the beginning of it. It was actually how I found out. These crazy things were happening and I googled them to see what they were up to and found the obituary, had died about 6 months before which pretty much coincided when it all started. So I’m not a total nonbeliever. I just question some things.

  65. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

D, humans create life and create new species. Look at the breeds of dogs and cats etc. To me that is God. Not some authoritarian figure of magical proportions. Learning how life works and evolution is God. There is no Zeus.

  66. I’ve already seen a little bit of the other side, but it was not as clear an image as I would have preferred.

When I flatlined from a heart attack, I felt comfort, and I felt like I was with my family again, they were beckoning Me to come and join them, it would be alright. My chest pain was gone and I felt like I was floating.
The light was so overwhelming I couldn’t make out objects, but I was very tempted to join them and felt myself rising.
Then I freaked out, thought of I’m not ready to leave my son yet, he doesn’t even know I’m here.
I closed my eyes, didn’t want to see where I was , because I felt like I would be tempted to leave this earth, when I’m not ready.
And then bam, back in my body, excruciating pain again, but I feel when it’s time, I’ll be ready and won’t be afraid of the other side, I’ll be welcomed there

The Bible says the death of a saint is beautiful, I was with my father, mother, sister when they passed.
It sure didn’t feel beautiful, it felt horrible, but everyone was very peaceful, and My Father was the most special, He still checks in on Me from time to time, i hear his little noises he always made for years, and him walking through the house

It was difficult to get used to, but now I’m happy and live with it
I never feel afraid, I know it’s him and he wouldn’t harm Me

  67. We all will be forced to leave these bodies behind someday, they won’t last forever, but I did have fear about the actual passing, what would it be like, and what’s in store.

It’s comforting to know for Me now, I’ll be alright and no more pain

When You are in excruciating pain, and Your body just can’t go on, it’s an incredible relief when the pain just disappears, and I will accept anything that makes that pain go away

  68. I believe it’s borderline impossible for Me to come back again. The feeling was so incredible

No pain, and it’s like a high never experienced before, a feeling of immortality, and mental conciousness awakening. It’s like You know everything, things You never knew before, all in an instant, and you have power to do things You couldn’t even imagine of before
It would take time learning how to utilize all the instantly gained unworldly skills

It’s something You are so blown away by, You crave for it like a cocaine addiction

  69. The bad news is the HUGE. Emergency Room bill came in the mail today, OMG. I almost had another heart attack, but decided not too, because then I’ll get another bill next month, lol
    WOW

Who can afford to get sick, it’s ridiculous what they charge

People have many beliefs and that’s every individuals right to roll with,
Forcing beliefs never has worked, never will,
A little personal responsibility is usually a pretty good path lol

The Bible is a guide, helps a lot of people with guidance, to each his own, live and let live, that’s my vote

    Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth

i sure hope MF-13 comes back, he was always giving us up to minute info, would be a loss to this place if he didn’t come back.
MF-13 forget all that stuff and come back.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

What makes you think he isn’t coming back?

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

The argument he got into with piggy, i haven’t communicated with him so i really don’t know whats going on with him,
i can only assume, Maybe he doesn’t feel welcome??

  79. i tried out a new chuch close to Me on Easter
it was protestant, and of course the Easter story is about Christ being crucified and rising from the tomb after 3 days.

but the pastor, he only talked of Christ like he was senselessly murdered, and never once mentione he arose

i have NEVER heard anything like that before, im like, go ahead buddy , FINISH the story, but he never did, then the offering platers were being passed out
im thinking partial message, partial offering, but i dont know how to rip a quarter in half, tough luck, lol

its like watching the titanic, and the movie cuts out before the ship sinks, lol what happenned to it, did it become a spaceship, did it turn into Dion Jordan? what, finish the story, lol

  80. wow! better check the news, ALL the stocks and crypto tanking at the same time, damn

    • ah shit
executuve decision to ban China telecom, and possible looming war with Iran,

this is why many investors are about ready to just give up, we cant have 24 hours of calm and stability.
      its always drama mama hour

  81. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Charlie Weis just gave Adam Gase and the Jets a bitchslap! He said the Jets (Firing Maccagnan and now looking for a personnel that “can work with Adam Gase”) are betting that Adam Gase is Bill Belichick. He recommends not taking that bet. He elaborated by stating all the issues he had here in Miami, and how he was hired 2 weeks later by the Jets after he was fired here. Belichick after getting fired in CLE he spent 3 years as DC with the Jets before moving on to become the HC of the Patriots. He doesn’t think Gase is ready to be that guy

  82. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rob – M13 is more than welcome to post here. Listen, we’re a community, and within that community, there are different viewpoints and opinions, and they don’t always match up and coincide with each others. For the most part we all try to get along despite those differences, but sometimes things get heated. It happens. That doesn’t mean he’s not welcome here.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I didn’t say he wasn’t welcome here i just said he may not feel welcome.

I think this place does a great job of everyone getting along. i’ve never seen it so smooth. back in the old days you always had arguments daily, this place has come a long way in that dept

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

I would have honestly enjoyed reading his comments on the God/Religion topic.

  83. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i would not have given leveon bell 25 mil guaranteed, he’s a RB they are a dime a dozen

  84. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Bell’s attitude sucks, but when he’s playing, there’s not many RB’s that are better dual threats than him, rushing and receiving. He should really help Darnold, IF he ever gets his head on straight again, and IF he can get along with “Crazy Eyes.”

    • bells problems are mental and me first attitude

he thinks he is the best RB< and the best WR all in one, but, he isnt

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

well if gase was miffed at the gm for giving bell this contract, and you asked “what cred or track record does he have to determine that”

does he need cred to make the determination that was probably not a good move?

i don’t think it was a good move and i’ve never worked for an nfl team.

  85. Disney and pot stocks holding up well,

everyone needs to get high to go to Disney, lol

  86. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i never have liked Bells pitty patty style of running…stop and go BS.
i think the team he played for and the qb he had; had D’s spread out covering the whole field.
not sure that shit will work with darnold

  87. shocking and horribly sad we may be going to yet another theater to wage war , this time in Iran, with Israel and Russia involved

in Revelations, those are the major players in the battle of Armageddon
    US, Russia, Iran, Israel

our allies are claiming there is no increased danger to Americans, yet thats not the Bolton story, screw the walrus, he pushed us into iraq on lies

  88. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rob – Gase supposedly didn’t like the CJ Mosely contract either. It sounds to me like if he doesn’t have full control over the entire roster including the draft and FA, or unless he hires some puppet that will just yes him to death, he’s gonna have problems. My point is, does he deserve that power? I think it’s been pretty clear he does not. Bell has had over 1800 total yards 2 seasons, and over 2200 total yards once. That’s elite.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

he was on a great team, pittsburgh, rothlesberger is a stud, he buys time for his recs, the Dbs have to cover these rec’s for a long, ben forces the DBs and lbers to back up and play pass, he opens the field for Leveon,

this is the reason bell was successful, it’s good to slow up and let your blocking get ahead of you on some occasions but not every run, that shit wont work in NY.

      a huge waste of money.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I hope Bell is a waste of money, I hope he and Gase hate each other and he gets cut. Not too far fetched

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

he won’t get cut, they can’t afford to cut him.

he’s like Rashad Jones now, he can walk off the field and refuse to play because he’s set for life.

He has more backside than Drake
    —————————————————-

i agree however drake doesn’t have 25 mil guranteed

  90. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I get it, sour grapes about Gase leads to impugn him at every turn, but looking at the fact that he didn’t like the Bell move without sour grapes involved.

i would have to agree with him on that.
    what was that gm thinking?

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

He gave a young QB a major weapon to work with in both the run and pass game. It is only in essence a 2 year deal so when it is time re-up Darnold Bell’s contract won’t be an issue. I actually thought it was a great signing

  91. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

you want to spend that kind of money, do it for an elite wr….a CB …a tackle…a qb…..but not a RB!

  92. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

  93. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rob – There’s different perspectives to every story. The Jets had a shit ton of cap money available, they needed a RB, so they spent money on the best available. Just like CLE spent over $15M per on Landry. They didn’t want to waste a high pick in the draft on a RB, so all it is is money, which they had to spend anyway. Whether he pans out or not remains to be seen. I understand what he had in PIT, the Jets did upgrade their O-line, and Bell is an excellent receiver and emergency dump off guy that can help Darnold.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Oh, and Gase is a malcontent crazy eyed FF who shipped out YOUR favorite player! lol

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i wasn’t aware of the jets cap as i dont keep up with that shit show,

and yes you are right the dumping of Ajayi was a lame move that cost gase his job,

if he had not dumped ajayi where would we be right now? still with gase chasing a playoff spot.
so maybe that was a blessing in disguise because i like our new direction so far.
