Ravens thrash Dolphins for most lopsided regular season loss in team history

The score tells the story, the stats tell the story, but eyeballing that garbage really told the story. There was hardly anything to hang your hat on from Sunday’s game. The Ravens played another game of “Who’s Your Daddy” and just knocked our dicks in the dirt for 60 minutes. TE Mark Andrews was targeted 8 times, how many catches do you think he had? Yup, 8. So much for our LB’s and safeties being better in coverage. I said Eric Rowe was going to have a tough time being targeted often and oh bot did that rear its ugly head. WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown torched us for 4 catches for 147 yards and 2 TD’s. Rowe looked woefully inadequate and the scary part is we probably don’t have anyone on the roster better.

OK, let me get this out of the way immediately. This is NOT tanking. Yes, we have set ourselves up for success for next season and beyond by acquiring a substantial amount of draft capital, but the plan is not to lose as many games as possible. The truth is, we’re just not good, especially against a well coached Ravens team. Harbaugh always has his team prepared, and the gap between Harbaugh and Flores at this juncture is significant. John Harbaugh is in his 12th year as Ravens coach, their system is in and has been in for a long time. Sure, they evolve with the different players, especially QB Lamar Jackson, but they have a way of doing things that has been done now for over 11 years. That makes a difference.

The game started with RB Mark Ingram ripping off a 49 yard run in where he was chased down by Xavien Howard from behind, and untouched until Howard finally caught him. Those of us that thought the run defense would be better were rudely shown otherwise. The Ravens went 89 yards in 4:26 and made it look exceedingly easy doing so. That surely set the tone for what was to come. Dominance in every facet of the game over our unprepared Dolphins. At this stage of my life, for my sanity and other health concerns, I have to turn the game off and look for other things that don’t raise my blood pressure 50 points and don’t have me feeling like I want to kick my neighbors dog. I don’t remember exactly what point of the game I turned it off, but I turned it back on and saw Josh Rosen in at QB. Fitzgerald wasn’t hurt, so why put Rosen in this shitstorm? Poor decision by the rookie HC. Not a good situation to get any kind of fair evaluation there so why bother?

I’m not hating on Coach Flo, this was his first game against a better team and much more established Head Coach in his 12th year with the same team. It showed every bit of that disparity. So what happens from here? We face the New England Patriots next week in Foxborough. The Patriots beat a much better team than us handily, crushing the Pittsburgh Steelers 33-3. Now every week is different, we’ve that time and time again, so anything can happen. I would assume our players have pride so after a beating like yesterday, they will want to come out and play much better football, and it’s going to take that and more to beat the Patriots in New England, where they rarely lose. To expect the Dolphins to upset the Patriots would take a Miami Miracle. Can that happen two years in a row?

GO DOLPHINS!!

The only thing I’ve seen from two games so far is that almost none of our guys are good enough. This is going to take more than two drafts to fix. I’m done with watching. I’ll be back for the draft unless they actually start Rosen at some point. That’s the smart plan, and until they do it, I’m not wasting my time on this team. See ya guys later for our weekly discussions but I’m done with Sundays.

This 30-0 total debacle FEELS LIKE a 60-0 loss! And, indeed, Ross’s minnows have been outscored 89-10 in the last two home games which, of course, is A DOLPHINS ALL-TIME RECORD FOR FUTILITY TO START ANY SEASON!!!
THIS OUGHT TO GET MINKAH to the airport in RECORD TIME!!!
and it ought to cause potential draft picks to tell ROSS — “Don’t you dare draft me to play for your putrid team!!!”

Rosen has more yards in a couple drives than Fitz all game, He looked better after 2 weeks on offseason play….still on the bench while Fitz sucks. These coaches looking like they can’t evaluate talent much less adjust to other teams. .

  43. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

WELL, TIM, the Dolphins have now been outscored 102-10 in their first two games. I guess that, for sure, will get me investigated by the FBI, right?? Hell, if I were you, I’d apply right now for a job with them!!!

  45. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

actually i thought the defense played pretty good, the offense is the problem, they can’t stay on the field, the running game sucks, no pass protection and when we do get a play off it goes the other way for a TD.

  46. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

We did 6 points better this week.

Rosen won the preseason , and Fitz is starting?,

Flores can’t possibly be blind, he has to be in on the tank job,

I never thought he would be, but he obviously is

Fuck Ross, he’s a selfish idiot, and Flores needs to start the best players, and get his shit together, or he shouldn’t be here for game 4

  67. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

Here is what I have taken from the first 2 weeks besides we have a long way to go. First, this defense needs a good CB opposite X. We obviously need a pass rusher and a safety if Fitz gets traded. On offense we basically need everything. Keep Dieter, the TEs, and Preston, the rest who cares.

I’m thinking QB, CB, OT, and DE with our first 4 picks. I’m on the Joe Burrow bandwagon at QB in the draft. That may allow us to draft Andrew Thomas the OT from Georgia. I also like Paulson Adebo from Stanford at CB and a luxury pick of D’Andre Swift the RB from Georgia.

  68. now I see why Flores was an assistant for 15 years, ,that’s what he is

So it’s about a 79 year old owner, not players on the field/? Got it! Someday we’ll understand what a rebuild “Blow It Up” looks like. Just keep hating on that guy. I wonder what it is about him that bothers some so much. Hmmm… be honest. Just say it. I know the answer. You don’t have the balls to say it. But keep on keep’n on.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

I DO HAVE THE BALLS TO SAY IT, Timmy. Ross didn’t know shit about football when he bought the team. And he didn’t know who to hire to run his franchise for him. THAT’s WHY he’s made one bad choice after another for HC, GM, President of Football Operations and head of the scouting department. And then there’s his utter fiasco of a ticket department, which is, by far, the WORST I’ve ever encountered. And need we care to mention his pissing off of the state legislature when he sent Mike Dee, his lackey, to Tallahassee to threaten them they better throw in some public tax money to help fix-up Sun-Baked Stadium while he was planning to GIVE AWAY $400,000,000 to the U. of Michigan?? Ross most assuredly IS NOT CHEAP. He’s just football stupid. AND THAT has led him to make mistake after mistake throughout the entire 10 plus years of his disastrous reign of failure.
      ————————–
His plan to tear down the franchise and re-start the franchise is doomed to utter failure UNLESS he decides to sell the team this off season. IF Ross chooses to retain the franchise, good coaches WILL NOT WORK FOR HIM!! Competent people WILL NOT apply for other front office positions. FREE AGENTS who could really stabilize the franchise will head elsewhere. And kids coming out of college will pull a “JOHN ELWAY” and tell Miami NOT to draft them. NOBODY WANTS TO COME TO MIAMI under these circumstances. And no one will.
      ————————–
I’ve made this guarantee before and I’ll make it, again. The Miami Dolphins WILL NOT WIN A PLAYOFF GAME AS LONG AS STEVE ROSS OWNS A MAJORITY OF THE TEAM!! – – DO YOU HAVE THE BALLS, TIMMY, TO BET ME $100 ON THIS???

  72. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

It’s going to be difficult to lure key FAs to Miami next year with this type of culture. We knew it was going to be bad… but nobody thought it would be THIS bad… and that we’d unload nearly all of our younger talent… including Tunsil and Minkah (<– coming this week, according to Armando).

It doesn't matter who starts at QB, our QBs are doomed: ya start Ryan Fitzpatrick if ya want to keep Josh Rosen from getting DLS* (David Carr Syndrome), vice-versa and we learn nothing about Rosen… but doesn't it really matter at this point???

Somebody in the FO or coaching staff screwed up BIG TIME in the execution of said "tank". I don't know how Coach Flores will survive after the season. We're going to need a fresh new face (HC) with MASSIVE promise.

I'm already reading the rumors that Flores was set up to be a 'fall guy', and that Jim Harbaugh will be our new HC come 2020. I don't even have a guess as to what's true or false any longer with our team.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Well that proves that Ross isn’t cheap because Flores has a guaranteed 4 or 5 year contract. LOL

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I swear to ALL one thing: I have NEVER once said that Steve Ross is cheap when it comes to our Phins’ roster and coaching staff. In fact, he’s spent WAY too much on pricey FAs (see Suh, re-signing Tannehill, etc) through bad advice from his GMs over the past.

My only gripe with RO$$? He continues to hire ‘yes men’ who either know little about football, or have been failures… just like HWH (RIP), until he hired Parcells (though the game had already passed Parcells by).

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

RO$$ has gone from King Carl Peterson, to Mike Tannenbaum, to let’s just tank… which has become — at least IMO — an inadvertent ‘scorched Earth policy’.

  73. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

M13, it was a joke. But now we know how you feel too. LOL

So what Ross and Grier said we were going to do back in March has changed? 6 months later and the baffled are still baffled. Okay. 😉

When people post pics of nuclear “BLOW IT UP” pics be prepared when that actually happens and what that means. 😉

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

      Agreed.

      It’s what happens the next 2 years……

But they have to get competitive sooner than later

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I don’t think ya read me right, man. I only have ONE beef with RO$$, and it’s been the one that continues to kick his own azz. He’s not cheap, and I admire that about him. He just can’t surround himself with the right football people.

What’s more, “BLOW IT UP” NEVER came with the advertisement that we’d rid ourselves of our latest and youngest talent. I mean, NOBODY thought “BLOW IT UP” warranted a trade of Tunsil and Minkah… that’s nearly unprecedented.

I’m beginning to believe the initial reports that there was a coup brewing in the locker room when Tunsil was being shopped around. Ya just DON’T trade away young talent (that’s what ya BUILD upon!!!), but I think our FO was offered a deal they couldn’t resist in return for Tunsil.

IMO, that’s when “BLOW IT UP” turned into an inadvertent ‘scorched Earth policy’… THAT is what precipitated the likes of Minkah to say, ‘yeah, this isn’t being done correctly’.

Ya BUILD(!!!) on the young talent ya have, even in a “BLOW IT UP” scenario. Our FO has now ostracized all of our young talent, and many of them suddenly want out. BAD MOVE… to the tune of a former Cleveland Browns funk up.

  74. D's avatar D says:

My take is Isadora isn’t a bad RG, Deiter is a rookie but playing pretty well overall. Kilgore not so much. Davis is not good at LT I’d move him back to the right and put Webb at LT.

Defense played better but the secondary is playing poorly. Hard to pin it on any one since they are rotating them a lot but obviously we are a player or two short there from having a good unit.

Fitz obviously isn’t the answer at QB but we knew that already. I wouldn’t start Rosen for a couple more games to give the OL more time to gel. He should be our starter by bye though and I’ll be upset if he isn’t.

There were some positives in the game despite the outcome and we just have to keep growing and building so when Rosen does start he has a good chance to be successful.

My draft next year would be OL, DE/OLB, and CB as my top 3 picks.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And why are we in ‘preseason game 2’? Because we couldn’t resist trading Tunsil for two #1s and a 2nd RIGHT BEFORE week 1. After we traded Tunsil, the players revolted and Flores lost the locker room.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I agree with ya, in general. I just don’t think we were prepared for what I’ll now call the TUNSIL REVOLT. Yes, it’s way worse than what we were prepared for… and I don’t think our FO planned it to be THIS bad.

I mean, we no longer — as currently constituted in 2019, aside from X and maybe Baker — have a young and solid foundation to build upon.

    —————
I must admit, if I’m Chris Grier, I’m making the Tunsil/Stills trade to the Texans 100 times out of 100… it was a STEAL!!! However, I think it came with some unintended consequences: the locker room, particularly our young talent.

It is what it is, and I’m just opining on what may have happened to precipitate a youth revolt on our beloved team. I now DO believe that some revolted after Tunsil was shopped and then ultimately traded, as was initially reported.

It’s going to be a LONG year, my man ER! I hope we can stomach this year in order to reach greater success in the future.

This season is a wash, Minkah can’t save this shitshow by himself, it’s best we just get more picks and try to do something next year, tank for Tua

  88. There isn’t any NFL player that could make this current Dolphin team , a great team, lol

Some would come close, but this team is geared for 2020

  89. Let’s hope Rosen doesn’t tire of gettting garbage time minutes , coming into games down 40-50 points, Rosen can’t toss 50 point touchdowns, lol. They only count 6

If we traded Rosen, we would have to bring another QB in

I think Rosen should start before we even remotely think about trading him

Fitz veteran leadership, isn’t doing squat, lol

  91. I read the link ORob provided, thanks ORob
According to the herald, Minkah has asked for a trade, and the team is very close to wrapping it up..
Also Rosen will likely start the next game, Fitz isn’t getting it done

all rebuilding starts with a tear down first, then bring in the new ,and put it all together

The tearing down looks ugly, but the finished rebuild should look great, that’s the goal of a rebuild

The score in my opinion did not reflect what I perceived as some improvement from last week, at least on DEF … it’s Rosen time .. futz is doing jack shit. Start Rosen and let’s see what he’s got ….
