I would like to think after seeing what QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has done for the Dolphins so far this season that the decision to go forward with Josh Rosen as the starter is going to happen as early as Game 3, away against the Cowboys. In very limited time yesterday, Rosen had 2 potential TD’s dropped in the same drive, one to Jakeem Grant and one to Preston Williams, both very catchable balls that were mishandled. Obviously when you lose 43-0, who starts at QB isn’t the only issue, but the notion that the veteran QB gives them a better chance to win on Sunday simply can’t be true.
I said it before the season that the Dolphins were putting a lot on Eric Rowe’s plate. If we had 2 poor CB’s, he wouldn’t see as much action as pass attempts would probably be divided more equally, but with Xavien Howard on the other side of the field, teams will always look to exploit the weak link. Rowe has struggled here as the starter, after being used sparingly in NE for the past 3 seasons. Rowe started only 12 total games for the Patriots, and it’s pretty clear why. Rowe is not up to the task, but our depth at CB just isn’t there, with Jomal Wiltz, Chris Lammons and Johnson Bademosi.
I look at our O-line and D-line and think “Who are these guys”? If I told you Jesse Davis would be our LT a month ago you’d surely laugh. If I told you veteran DT John Jenkins, formerly of the Saints, Seahawks and more recently the NY Giants would be our starting RDE in our 3-4 base you’d say “huh?”. I love Godchaux, glad to see he’s still with us, but surprising he’s at the nose instead of DE where Jenkins is. Jenkins is 330lbs, you’d think they would flip flop those 2. Rookie LG Michael Deiter has been OK, and veteran OC Dan Kilgore is doing his best. Tough task for Kilgore with Deiter on one side and newly acquired Danny Isidora on the other. Now, veteran J’Marcus Webb is our RT, not LT. Good job Naples, you called the Webb signing!
Then there’s the Minkah defection. Here’s Minkah’s strengths in his draft profile:

- Versatile chess piece with experience all over the field
- Can step right in and cover the slot, play high safety or handle nickel linebacker responsibilities

- Can become rangy safety
- Able to stick a foot in ground and drive to the ball
- Plays with “ball-man” vision of an off-ball defender in basketball
- Has awareness from zone to make loads of plays
- Has nine career interceptions and four pick-sixes
- Has downhill mindset as a hitter
- Plays off of blocks and into tackling position
- Dangerous blitzer off the edge
- Attacks line of scrimmage from high safety look in run support and welcomes physical challenges
- Special teams ace with 22 career coverage tackles
So where the heck does this 2nd year player come off not only complaining about how he’s being used, but actually asking for a trade? Some here want to defend that? Clueless! We’re on Game #3, deal with it! To me, this may be the most disappointing development so far this season. The team invests a high 1st RD draft pick on this player and he has the audacity to request a trade in only his second season. Garbage!
It’s been nearly impossible to make any kind of evaluation on our running backs or even our WR’s. We’re -92 in just 2 games, so how can you evaluate anything? Our RB’s have a total of 23 carries for 52 yards, and Kalen Ballage has 5 yards on 9 carries. Ugh! Of course the O-line and also the level of competition we have played factors in (Ravens, Patriots). It doesn’t get any easier as we play the Dallas Cowboys in their house. Dak Prescott is playing out of his mind so far, Zeke is just getting back into the groove, and the defense which looks to be pretty good behind DeMarcus Lawrence and Leighton Vander Esch hasn’t hit it’s stride yet, but will have a much easier job against us. Our best hope is the Cowboys look past us as they play at New Orleans the following week (w/o Drew Brees).
Going forward, I want to see Josh Rosen in at QB. I can’t stomach the sight of Ryan Fitzpatrick leading this team any longer. If there was initially the thought that Ryan Fitzpatrick gives this team the best chance to win, that thought certainly has perished. Our QB alone won’t elevate our team to victory, but it looks clear to me that Josh Rosen is the more talented QB at this juncture, he can make the throws that Fitz can’t, so it’s time. I’d like to see J’Marcus Webb at LT and Jesse Davis at his more natural RT spot. He looks slow and overmatched at LT. He will still be slow and overmatched at RT, but at least his mechanics are more familiar there. We have to get some offense going, it’s been dreadful. We complained for years that scoring 17-19 points a game doesn’t cut it during the Tannehill era, well now we’re down to 5 PPG, and that must change NOW!
I want to see Chandler Cox in the backfield in some power formation and let’s make some noise! I think Rosen can give us a little spark, but all the other pieces around him have to work at a high level in order to be competitive. Gesicki is slowly coming around, he has 3 catches for 42 yards. If I told you after 2 games that no receiver or running back has not yet reached 100 total yards yet, would you believe it? Who’s closest? WR Preston Williams has 87 yards receiving. We just have to run the ball to open up the passing game. I saw Fitz play action fake about 20 times yesterday and defenders didn’t buy more than 2 of those. They were coming after him and frankly it looked silly. We need to have a few sustainable drives or our defense will be toast before we get to the BYE week. We need all hands on deck, and that includes the mutinous Minkah. C’mon son, you’re a better man than that, TEAM FIRST!!!!!

The owner Steve Ross asked for a rebuild, and the GM Chris Grier is obliging him, Complaining about tearing down this team that has sucked for decades makes no sense. Can’t we at least wait until we complete a couple of drafts that we are totally stocked with plenty of picks to complain? Hating Steve Ross for rebuilding now also makes no sense. I think as Dolphins fans we at least have something to look forward to. I liked the way Rosen played today. We may have ourselves a QB. Without question, as long as Rosen is healthy there is no reason to ever see Ryan Fitzpatrick again.
Completely agree. Rosen showed some good promise in the 1st half. I’m actually looking forward to next week just to see him play again.
And if the bums we have at WR and RB can stop killing drives, maybe we can grab a lead for the 1st time this season and/or compete for a win.

OD – Grier has been the GM since 2017. I don’t think it’s accurate to say that the entire roster we just turned over was chosen by him,. That’s just an easy jab, but it’s not true. Tannehill, Gore, Wake, Ju’Wuan James, Stills, Alonso, McDonald. There are more but all those guys were picked previous to Grier being the GM. The 2 players that bothered me were Tunsil and Fitzpatrick, but as I alluded to earlier, we should be getting more than enough compensation to replace them and more.

I didn’t get to watch the game but saw the highlights and read the media responses. I’ll continue to hate the Tunsil trade because we have no OL and you can’t win without one. We are at the point we have to hope Grier knocks it out of the park because this team has very little talent. Our WRs are terrible asnd Grant, who we just extended, is one of the worst. Davis, who we also just extended, is also pretty bad. I’m not getting the idea behind extending that garbage players and trading off all the good, young ones.
Maybe next week we’ll see what a TD looks like going into game 4. Rosen is the reason to watch the Dolphins and he has nothing to work with. Our defense is also quite terrible. Where are the building blocks again?

My magic Youth basketball team that I coach, won their second game today, 41-22.
Last week we won 51-3.
We played what used to be the best team in the league, and we did it with our best player missing the game, and our second best player got his ankle twisted near halftime.
I gave a sportmanship award to our fallen teammate, he wanted to keep playing for his team, but injured players don’t play in this league, they are only 15-17 years old and parents would have a cow , if You don’t pull their injured child out
I talked with the league manager, and he said the championship game will likely be us and that team

Chris Grier willingly jettisoned some of his best picks since he became defacto GM in 2017, some of whom we’d need for the rebuild. I don’t want to get too deep into the matter, but if I was Grier? I’d be asking for the team to trade ME. So in that regard, perhaps I shouldn’t hold Grier culpable for my frustrations.
Sufficed to say, I’m not a happy camper that we traded Tunsil and Minkah. Yeah, I kind of get trading Minkah, but I’m not sure I like it… or Minkah for being a petulant child in wanting out.

And of course, when I say “#1 draft pick”, I’m referring to a 1st round draft pick.
I saw during the broadcast that “Dolphins Fire Sale” segment.
It looks bad when it’s all put together that way,
but many of the moves were made for legitimate, if painful, reasons.
Stills talked himself out of town. Minkah whined himself out.
Wake had to be retired, so we set him up with a last Big Paycheck, out of respect.
We needed to get younger, so letting Quinn and Amendola go made sense,
although I would have kept both. However … then we find out
Quinn was due for a suspension, and Amendola had GF problems at the Beach.
The fan base had soured on Tannehill, so he needed a fresh start (pardon the pun).
I would not have cut Sitton, but his best days were behind him.
Alonso was a liability in covering TEs and RBs and Spence in run D,
which really is their jobs,
plus they were not good scheme fits with the new defense,
so better to cut them and train new men to play the way the new coach wants to play it.
Trading Tunsil was a mistake done out of desperation to get out of the 8-8 rut.
I would have paid Juwuan James, because he’s my boy,
but I’m a bit too sentimental, and it’s a business.
I witnessed the Marlins fire sale, and I don’t this is like that.
I didn’t see anything wrong with Stills or Minkah being malcontents, what I saw is a poorly managed team designed to tank, and two proud warriors wanted no part of it
If Stills and Minkah were happy to tank, with no commitment to win from Ross, Grier, or Flores, then I would question why
It’s best for ALL players to move on from Miami, it’s a shit franchise

Minkah started at FS today, came up with a pick and forced a fumble. He did have a oenalty, but played well overall, and did NOT ask to be traded after the game because Steelers KNOW Minkah is NOT a lb

They are playing Wilkins to eat double teams, similar to what they asked Suh to do.
I think it was a mistake to make Suh do that,
and I think it is a mistake to require Wilkins to do that.
It’s one thing to ask Paul Soliai to eat doubles, because that is what he was meant to do,
and he could do little else, and it really helped us for him to do it.
Suh and Wilkins can help more if used differently. They are dynamic and can be game changers.
I’ve watched Wilkins a lot, and I warned when we drafted him, that he could be misused and disappear off the stat sheet.
I also warned against using Minkah all over the field instead of giving him one job to do and letting him excel.
Coaches should not mess with a guy’s mojo. That’s a special thing and should be allowed to continue unabated with its own inertia, not blunted by his own coaches until he has lost the Big Mo.
Much agreed, a first round pick is a terrible thing to waste. How and why the Fins couldn’t manage Minkah and why Ryan started the first two games, is just piss poor management
Rosen won the preseason, and they started Ryan anyway? That’s just dumb coaching
Ross needs to sell the team so they can rebuild correctly, and the new owner needs to find a new coach that’s committed to win, Flores is NOT the answer, and is the wrong person to guide the team during its rebuild
Dolphins need a coach that can bring all of these new players from the drafts ahead and make a team out of them
Ross, Grier, and Flores, are not the right guys to select, and coach up the new players into contenders
We have tons of picks, but we all remember Irelands last draft when the Dolphins were loaded with 5 picks in the top 82 selections, yet Ireland managed to fuck it all up anyway and get fired due to his incompetence
The Dolphins strategy of acquiring extra picks will backfire horribly if the wrong players are selected, and the coaching sucks and they aren’t managed properly
The rebuild needs to include the incompetent FO to be complete, and the team needs to do it , before they screw up the 2020 draft

Over recent years (2000s+), constant cellar-dwellers with all of their early (<– sometimes MULTIPLE) draft picks, we've seen teams FAIL to rebuild properly. I'll cite the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns as examples.
Now MAYBE the Browns have finally gotten it right with the hire of John Dorsey (Lord knows I wanted him to be our GM back in '12, with the coaching change from Sparano to Philbin… but we kept Jeff Ireland, SMH). It's still too early to tell if the Browns are going to be perennials. And the Lions are still just the measly Lions.
So I ask… IF Chris Grier IS the man for the job… why'd we trade all of his excellent draft picks???

I don’t think Ross was cheap on the stadium renovation, that’s his investment, and he will get an ROI. On it.
It’s the payroll that is cheap, most of the talent is gone and the remaining players were dirt cheap compared to the ones that left over the last three years
If Ross is preparing to sell the team, these are actually shrewd business decisions, but if Ross thinks this is the way to proceed, Fins are in for a rocky road

Wow, that’s a ripoff!!! I had my entire system replaced. The outside unit replaced. The heat and A/C unit in the attic replaced. All new wiring and copper tubing. New drip pan that has an automated pump that pumps the water out. New door for the intake vent. They caulked and sealed the intake shaft to the attic. Everything new except for duct work and the whole deal cost me 4,950. I don’t have a small house either per say, it’s 2300 sq. ft. Oh, and I live in FL.

I dunno if Andrew Thomas is on the board I don’t think I trade back. If I did it would maybe be a couple of spots. Giving up Tunsil and getting Thomas might be one of the biggest stories of the draft for me because that might even be an upgrade
