Two in a row! Dolphins upset Colts in Indy for 2nd consecutive win

Look, we all see that this team is down on talent, it doesn’t take long to realize that watching this team play week after week. On the other hand there are the little things that teams do that keeps them in games like doing your assignment correctly and if you’ve been watching, you can see we are improving in that area each and every week. Why the 3rd quarter has become a black hole for us I’m not quite sure, but there is no question the guys who are on the field are playing hard, and playing to win. Yes, Jacoby Brisset didn’t suit up yesterday, and yes, that hurt Indy. Close to half our roster (probably more) wouldn’t be starting for the Indianapolis Colts. TY Hilton was also out for Indy and that hurt too. Preston Williams, our leading WR is out for the rest of the season. I also understand our roster holes are self inflicted, but the guys that aren’t here now weren’t part of our team, including the mutinous Minkah Fitzpatrick. I know he’s playing well in Pittsburgh but any guy who asks off our team is dead to me, and I truly hope he regrets going to the Steelers at some point, and I think he will.

You have to give Ryan Fitzpatrick credit. That guy just loves playing football and will do anything to win, sacrificing his body a few times a game. His stats aren’t going to pop off the page, but he’s keeping this team in games with his escapability and his veteran leadership. Fitzpatrick finished 21-33 for 169 yards with 0 TD’s and 1 INT. It was his rushing TD however, that was the only TD scored that day by either teams. The Dolphins defense held the Colts to 4 Adam Vinatieri FG’s. The Dolphins limited the Colts 3 headed rushing attack of Mack, Heims and Wilkins to 109 yards on 29 carries. They also held WR Zach Pascal to just 2 receptions for 26 yards. Pascal had 5 catches for 76 yards and a TD against the Minkah’s last week. I still don’t know all the guys in our secondary, Nik Needham, Eric Rowe, Ryan Lewis, Steven Parker, Chris Lammons, Jomal Wiltz etc. Ken Webster was out this week but it’s amazing that Flores is doing this the Patriots way, guys are just doing their assignments. Much credit must go to HC Brian Flores.

Devante Parker may finally put a 1000 yard season under his belt. Unbelievable, but his his best season resulted in only 744 yards in 2016. He’s at 469 yards after 9, so he will have to finish the 2nd half of the season strong, but the fact that it’s even possible is good news for him and Dolphins fans. Next season with Parker and Preston Williams back healthy there is no urgency to select a WR early in the draft. That’s important because we have great needs on both lines and we should be hitting on those early and often.

We were in a few games earlier this season and we let it slip away. Now, 2 weeks in a row we’re doing the things we have to do to win. One can make light that we beat the NY Jets and that we beat the 5-3 Colts w/o that their starting QB Jacoby Brisset but it doesn’t mean anything. You win with what you got, and winning with what we got is very impressive against anyone. Simple as that!

GO DOLPHINS!!!

Hope they start Laird next week , see what he can do

  2. Tim Knight says:

I’d like to see more of Laird down the stretch of the season.

  3. Mike E. says:

I’m tired of seeing Ballage as well. He’s the opposite of explosive and for a big guy he doesn’t run with any power. Let’s see more of Gaskin and Laird. Ballage just can’t be part of the future here, he’s got nuthin.

  4. Phindog says:

I agree we should see more Laird and Gaskins and less Ballage. Ballage has only produced on short and goal. Other than that he just gives up a down for us every time he touches the ball. I don’t know how many times I heard today β€œ Ballage for minus two yards β€œ πŸ•

  5. manitobafinfan says:

Agreed , we have 2 more weeks with walton suspension.. we have seen the Ballage experience, NEXT !!!

  6. wyoming85 says:

Laird is quietly having a great game. I would play him a lot more.

  9. Mike E. says:

Naples – Is he still playing on your TV? The game ended on mine about a half hour ago. πŸ˜›

  10. Mike E. says:

Laird looks a bit thin, but you never know, a bunch of guys excelling in the NFL aren’t really big at RB.

  11. bailbondmike says:

Despite what Travis Wingfield says, there are 10 teams with 3 wins or less. Still crowded at the bottom. Just going to keep rooting against the Steelers and Texans. Come on Cards! LOL

  12. manitobafinfan says:

He looks thicker than CMC ,…

  28. manitobafinfan says:

    Let’s go Philly !!!

  29. Tim Knight says:

Ken, I don’t think we have to find our future/franchise/savior QB in 2020. It’s set up to draft a QB no doubt, but it doesn’t mean at the top of the draft will be the answer. Look at Lamar Jackson, he was drafted #32 last year.

  30. Tim Knight says:

Wyo, I don’t think Young is the lock #1 either. Not yet anyway.

  31. ElephantRider says:

Didn’t get to see the game. Didn’t miss much I guess.

The odds go down the further you get away from the top of the draft
    ____________________________________________________________

i disagree with that, you can look at prior drafts and most of the great QBs were not taken early and most of the bust’s were, look at Trubisky! he was taken before Mahomes and Watson, i wonder if the bears would trade him straight up for either of those guys?

    Who?

    wyoming85 says:

    Young!
    ______________________________

    Who? Dion Jordan?????

    • wyoming85 says:

He had more sacks yesterday than the Fins!
      So there is that?

      • ocalarob says:

i just hope if we use our early pick on young that he measures up to it unlike Jordan, i think that pick is more valuable than any one player in this draft.
if it were me i would consider trading back if the offer was good enough, taking a top 5 player in the draft is not as good as getting two 1st round picks and a 2nd, those 3 players may do a whole lot more for your team than a bet on that guy in the top 5, chances are greater with 3 vs 1.

  34. ocalarob says:

i don’t think miami’s woes are at qb, i think the main problem with this team is the run game or the lack thereof, as a coach and a gm you have to get the right people in place to have a decent running game. Ballage had 9 yards on 9 carries. he’s a very tall back, easy to get your hands on, he wasn’t making the cuts to get the tough yards, another drake? still i’ll give him the benefit of doubt but walton seems to be our best RB.

so if you give a qb a running game you also make his job a whole lot easier

  35. wyoming85 says:

It doesn’t matter who you site, someone in that same spot shit the bed!

I do like to play with the draft to see if I can maximize talent with needs. It’s problem solving to me!

But I don’t consider myself an expert by any means!

I’ll let the ones that are going to be fired for screwing it up make the final! (As if we had a choice) πŸ˜‰

    • rich0322 says:

Yea, the mock drafts should be for fun. The moment you make the draft life and death, is the moment you set yourself up for major disappointment. It’s OK to be disappointed if one of your favorites isn’t drafted, but it shouldn’t ruin your life. I just enjoy the possibilities leading up to the draft. That’s what fun for me.

      • D says:

The moment you decide you know best who we should pick enough to make the mock draft serious you are also a bit conceited. Have fun with the mocks, use the for what they are, “what ifs”, and just roll with the actual one however if falls out.

  36. rich0322 says:

I really can’t complain too much in the last 2 drafts because Miami actually drafted 2 of my favorites in Wilkins and Fitzpatrick.

  37. D says:

Closer we get to the final draft order the more im kinda wanting Thomas no matter the order. I might would trade down a couple of spots if i had the overall number 1 (which doesnt look likely any longer) and take Thomas but id also be ok with us taking him overall number 1. That guy is an absolute beast at LT. Id also like for us to get Kindley and others off that UGA OL. its really good. Fromm had all kind of time to pass and te run game was pretty open as well and Auburn has two of the best interior DT’s in college football. They also have solid, probably top 10 DE’s. Fromm almost never felt any pressure.

  38. wyoming85 says:

  39. wyoming85 says:

    Tim
You were sad about getting an all pro rookie LT?
    Or
Were you sad he got injured and couldn’t play at the same level?

I always see that as 2 different things?

    • Tim Knight says:

I was joking about the options in that draft – Jake Long, Matt Ryan and an edge from OSU in Vernon Gholston. This year Thomas, Young and a QB.

  40. D says:

I liked this guy for us in his draft year, mostly because the name though lol. He was a mid to late round prospect if i remember correctly.

There was no doubt the OL was horrible yesterday. Actually surprised me how not horrible they were in the two wins. Maybe depends on who you play…..

You can’t say that without hitting my heart. Sausage Gravy, Patty Sausage , Eggs over easy and Biscuits twice as thick as hockey pucks all cut up in a bowl in what my “Ma” (means grandmother) called “A Mess” is what I eat night before they put me in the chair.
