Jordan Howard – 6’0 224
Ryan Fitzpatrick – 6’2 228
Kalen Ballage – 6’2 231
Myles Gaskin – 5’10 200
Patrick Laird – 6’0 205
De’Lance Turner – 5’11 214
Samaje Perine – 5’11 240
That’s a big stable of running backs in more ways than one, and of course I’m joking about the guy 2nd on the depth chart. Leaving out said QB, these are mostly bigger backs with the exceptions of Gaskin and Laird, all above 220 lbs. The reality is some of the guys on this depth chart won’t be here once the season begins if they even get that far. I think Gaskin and Laird could be keepers and Ballage may get another shot after a very disappointing season where he had ample opportunity to make some hay, starting in 6 games but just couldn’t get anything positive going, either rushing or receiving. I had hoped we had David Johnson lite, but even on the receiving side Ballage was a major letdown.
Jordan Howard signed a 2 year deal and he’s the type of back that wears down a defense. He will be valuable to close out a game in the 4th QTR by keeping drives going and punishing defenses, aptly named “The Bulldozer”. I have to believe that we will be active in the draft to find another quality back and there are a few that should be available beginning with our third first round pick (#26). D’andre Swift, Jonathan Taylor, J.K. Dobbins, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire round out the top 5. I will be surprised if none of these guys end up in a Dolphins uniform.
So free agency began in earnest for the Miami Dolphins and our name consistently flashed on the screen from the start. We made a lot of noise, gave out a few big contracts, but in general filled out a lot of holes and most definitely upped the talent level here and acquired some heady players as well. Kyle Van Noy in particular is a guy who has tortured us twice a year in a Patriots uniform serves to make us better and weaken the Patriots in one swift cut. On a down note, the Patriots will recoup yet another valuable compensatory pick, but if Van Noy can bring that production and locker room presence to some younger guys it will be worth it in spades.
I know you all know who we’ve acquired, probably better than I do, but I like to see it in print, it makes me feel happy. Here are all of our recent acquisitions and the contracts.
CB Byron Jones – 5YR/$82.5M
LB Kyle Van Noy – 4YR/$51M
DE/LB Shaq Lawson – 3YR/$30M
OG Ereck Flowers – 3YR/$30M
DE Emmanuel Ogbah – 2YR/$15M
RB Jordan Howard – 2YR/$10M
S Clayton Fejedelem – 3YR/$8.55M
C Ted Karras – 1YR/$4M
LB Kamu Grugier-Hill – 1YR/$3M
S Adrian Colbert – 1YR/$1.775M
We also signed former Patriots LB Elandon Roberts but the terms of the contract are not yet final. Fejedelem, Clobert and Roberts are all special teams guys and the new guys (Fejedelem and Roberts) lay the wood. All in all, I think we have shored up certain areas but there are still a few glaring holes such as OT, QB, RB, C (for competition this season and beyond). Another good DT/DE could also elevate our defense and safety is still an issue despite the Fejedelem and Colbert signings. The good thing is our approach in free agency has afforded us some flexibility going into the draft where we have excellent draft capital to make the most of our picks. I’m really looking forward to it.
Author’s Note: I hope all of you stay safe and healthy in these trying times with the outbreak of COVID-19. Be careful, help people when you can, and be a good neighbor and human being. Keep your family healthy and safe the best you can. Thankfully, participation here is safe (from COVID-19 anyway) so keep on bloggin!

Zierlein has us trading 5 and 18 and a 2nd to bungles to get Burrow, but says it is just a what if.
—————————————————————–
I took it to mean he was trading both our seconds, he pluralized the seconds I’m not a fan of it, but if thats who they thinks leads us to success, im not going to question it. Really all it does is make us nervous spending so much for one pick, probably does most fans of most teams. The teams like the Patriots who usually draft well probably dont flinch if the Pats do that, even though its kinda rare that they do. Still those are the dudes who make that decision and i guess its ok to disagree, but with what basis of fact do you have that its the wrong call. Like i said the other day, if in 3 years or so we are beginning to believe we finally got the next Dan Marino, are you crying over those picks anymore? I doubt it.
I just reported that he made that statement.
I did not make any statement.
I wonder if Rosen could be part of package to Cincy, hmmm
Rosen, 5, 26 and the 2nd
Im sure Rosen would provide some value for them, but with the 5 they are going to pick a QB anyways. So Rosen doesn’t do a ton for them.
Rosen is more valuable to us i think than he would be any team that might be interested.
Thing i like about Edwards-Helaire is that he is a over-achiever. They guy has never been given anything and always rose to the top, he isnt a guy who was more givted than the other players around him, but he beat them out just the same. Is he less talented than Swift, sure, but was he less productive? nope. That says something to me and i think to our coaches as well.
I don’t want the college over achiever, wouldn’t mind the NFL over achiever.
I just watched his game tape vs Alabama. You made it sound like he’s only effort, he’s bad ass, like a short Roger Craig.
If any of you are fans of the old Evil Dead movies, the new series they made here recently is actually pretty good. Give it a try if you’re a fan.

come together just doesn’t work right now, didn’t you know you are supposed to be social distancing?
Watching Dobbins and Swift game tape, Swift 100% better.
I agree he’s better, although Dobbins is very determined
and that’s a good thing in a runner.
Add in Helaire and any of the 3 will do in the 2nd. Only Seift in the 1st.

The guys that we signed are all that type that hit hard, practice hard, study hard, and their coaches and teammates love them. Plus they are all versatile and they love football.

Starz maybe? I watched it in Netflix. Very good.
I am fine if we get Helaire. He’s kinda slow, but he has excellent “make ya miss” moves.

RB Melvin Gordon to Bronco’s
TE Ebron to the Steelers
D, if Cincy got Rosen they wouldn’t need a QB and could draft Brown, Simmons or Okudah at 5 and they need defense bad.
Rationalizations Son Cindy is not trading out of 1. Also I don’t think Burrow is the best QB in this draft. However Burrow is probably the safest QB pick in this draft
5, both 2nds and a first next year to go to number one plus Rosen
You can have Harris, Aikens and Ballage too
If it takes McMillan also, let’s get it done
That’d be four players on rookie contacts plus 4 draft picks, of which 2 are first rounders, and Aikens to replace Magellan who we just snagged
Then we go Burrow, Tackle, Swift and the rest of the draft is gravy
Good luck trying to beat us
Burrow is way better than Tua. Pitbull vs beagle.
Healthy Tua all day everyday over Burrow. Actually Herbert is physically superior to both Tua and Burrow. Size, arm strength and speed. More risk with Herbert but he could wind up the best of the 3
Not for me with Tua. I do like Herbert a lot but I love Burrow for us.
Herbert being available at 5 makes me fine for not trading up for Tua and I just don’t see Cincy trading out of 1
Herbert’s a Golden Retriever
If Cincy did a deal like that with us they could sell the fans on Lose for Lawrence, they’d have 2 firsts and would still suck.
I could see Miami doing something like this after early FA…
1-(5) Tua Tagovailoa-QB, Alabama
1-(9) Jedrick Wills-OT, Alabama (trade up)
1-(26) Josh Jones-OT, Houston
2-(39) JK Dobbins-RB, Ohio St.
2-(56) Jeremy Chinn-S, Southern Illinois
3-(70) Davon Hamilton-DT/NT, Ohio St.
Since Miami would have their future QB, I could see them moving up to get Wills to protect Tua’s blindside. They would be using a 1st round pick next year to do it.
Then draft Josh Jones to be the LT to round out the 1st round.
Any draft with Tua at #5 turns me off. That’s just me though (and maybe SON).
It’s not what I would do, but it’s what I think the Dolphins will do.
BBmike, we have been on the same page for a while and that hasn’t changed. 😉
I’ve made it clear here since September that I wanted to draft Burrow. Since the odds are small that we will be able to trade up to #1, my 2nd option would be a Derrick Brown/ Jedrick Wills combo in the 1st. …even if that means giving up pick #26 to move up to get both guys.
I would do that trade up if it meant we got those two.
Right with ya!
I think we (Miami) have had some really good signings in the current FA period. it takes away a few dire team needs heading into the draft, as well as adding much needed over-all team depth. I like the way the FO is approaching all of this. I trust that they will build this team accordingly, this upcoming draft will go a long way towards achieving future lofty goals. not knowing exactly what their current thinking is to who they’ll draft and with what pick, I currently like at #5 Isaiah Simmons, if he’s gone (not available) at #5, I like OL Wills then DL Brown, depending who we select at #5 will shape the rest of the draft. I mean who knows? the FO may have a QB targeted with that pick. if they do, I’ll go along with their thinking and hope for the best.
GO PHINS !
I concur with all of that..

Naples – Thanks man, I think we’ll be alright. My wife can still work because she telecommutes and my son who’s still living at home does too. Now I’ll be the chef, the shopper and I’m sure I’ll find other things to keep me busy. How are you guys faring so far?
That’s a great attitude, Mike. Best of luck.
But you’re a great cook, so that should work well.
I am telecommuting for the foreseeable future.
My wife pretends she is enjoying me being home.
I bought a tablet that I will dedicate strictly to business.
I had to do that so I could concentrate on work and not be on here instead of working.
When I am on the tablet, I’m officially “at work.” 7AM – 3PM ought to do it.
I’m hoping that little mental gymnastic helps me retain a slight sense of normalcy.
Great to hear, that’s a smart a idea the work dedicated tablet. A tablet a day keeps the bloggers away.

but he did get them on the ground in a hurry.
And 2 were Jarvis and OBJ, and those are tough guys to tackle 1 on 1 in the open.
Congratulations grandpa Naples
Hang in there Mike. Everyone should prepare for that kind of state response. It is the only way the country is going to get ahead of this. Florida Keys are closed to all non-residents. Tourists have until 6 PM Sunday to un-ass the Keys. All hotels and AirBnb are closed. Enforced total shutdowns are the only way to keep people from doing stupid shit.
This is going to last awhile. Don’t expect an end before July/August and that might be optimistic. We are probably 6-8 weeks away from peak infections. Short of a vaccine. Even with a vaccine, there will probably be rolling outbreaks for a year or so.
omg the country can’t stay locked out of their jobs (or bars) for 6-8 months!!!!
We’ll all go bankrupt (or stir-crazy) except for Stanger.
If people don’t want to be dealing with this for that long then they need to do the hard things for the next 6-8 weeks. Stay home. Only go out by absolute necessity. Social distancing is largely a feel good myth. Practice it, but also practice good hygiene.
And Congrats Naples!
Thank you Sir.

a more germ-free environment than shopping among the hordes.
Now I find out it is only from 7AM-8AM.
(just before our first nap-time of the 3 each day)
That’s fine, since we all get up at 5AM anyway.

exellent advice
I know you are all seeing panic buying at the grocery, etc.
but down here we had about a million tourists, (no exaggeration)
since it was both Spring Break
and our High Season for “Snowbirds”
populating the condos.
These people vacuumed every store shelf,
as they were on vaca free-time but
had no stockpile in the fridge and pantry.
We locals are in competition with Europeans, South Americans, and college party animals.
Thank God for the huge amount of Candians here.
They’ll offer to open a 6-pack of toilet paper and split it with you in the check-out line.
My employer is CHRA (I work for USACE). We are on 100% telework as of this week. We have not been given a timeframe for how long to expect to be out. My daughter’s university sent out this week they are closed for the remainder of the semester. She was on spring break when they closed campus. They aren’t letting anyone back on for now. We are waiting for info on when we will be allowed to go get her moved out of the dorm. Most of her stuff is there, including all the notes and learning/teaching materials (she does have her MacBook). My wife’s school system is closed. All three of us are at home telecommuting. I have 300mbps service, but with everyone teleworking, available bandwidth is crap. We’re also having to log into VPNs, which has its own challenges right now. I’m starting work at 5a in hopes of getting as much done as I can before the networks bog down. I say all this, and yet I will also say that I am so glad to have my job. I hope they don’t have to furlough us.
Similar situation for me
Finally got confirmation that the student who was the source of the possible contamination at my wife’s school tested negative. It was the flu.
great news
relatively speaking
Great news Ken. I know that was weighing heavily on your family.
Thank you guy
Awesome Ken. No puny little bug could have beat the Hulk anyhow though.
👍
Mike,
Sorry to hear the news. I read where there will be 2.5 million new claims this next week. My wife and I work with dependent populations so we are pretty lucky with that. The economic destruction this will cause is almost unimaginable. I hope some kinds of steps are taken so this never happens again. One step should be complete decoupling from the Chinese in the next decade. SARS, H1N1, COVID, how many more have to happen before we make smart steps to defend our people?
Naples.. Congratulations on your Grandson. That is awesome !!
Thank you… you are soon up next though, right?
not rushing the pup, noumsayin’?
Mike
Hang tonight for a couple of months. We should be okay after that
At least I hope so. As a small business owner, I can’t even file for unemployment – yikes!
I think I’ll be fine for a few months though
Good news is the deadline to file taxes has been extended to 7/15
Thanks all, we’ll be fine. I’ll just have to learn to use my now insurmountable amount of free time in a positive way. Ken, that’s really good news about the flu, not COVID-19.
You should start a business cooking for the neighbors. Find opportunity. 😁 You and your family stay well
Not a good idea, he would have to expose himself in his family to go get groceries to supply the demand.
Pea pod delivers
Lawyers are exempt from the stay at home order in Connecticut but they closed the courts. Go figure
Lawyers should be exempt from determining which quarterback we should take, wasn’t you that wanted to pass on Peyton manning.
I stand by that. He would have floundered here
You have to go by need when assessing the #5 pick do we need a quarterback I don’t think so do we need offense of line help hell yeah what a defensive tackle be good there I would think yes better than quarterback
Sorry for the lack of punctuation my computer does not allow that
So it’s the computers fault 😁
I have to talk I can’t type, so if I say the punctuation word it adds it I just found that out.

It’s good practice not to touch a keyboard.
So far it seems flores is focusing on the defense it wouldn’t surprise me if we took brown on the defensive line at #5
Him or an offensive tackle, we can take quarterback later
That would be great adding brown on the defensive line, can you imagine him with what we have now?
If we do take a quarterback I think it should be Jordan love
And I should be exempt from picking QBs LOL
LOL
ORob
“Defense wins championships.” says conventional wisdom.
I might add–
yeah that and an offense that is not last in running the ball
or giving up sacks.
(meaning OL OL OL in the first and second rounds …
although I wouldn’t kick either I Simmons or DT Brown out of bed.)
This draft is deep an offense of lineman I’m sure we can pick up 1 down the road, and it would seem that this team likes Jesse Davis as they gave him a new contract.
I don’t think Jordan love will cost a #5 pick, we would be lucky to get him at 18 I think
Mike E — sorry your place is gonna shut down. It’s people who work at places with such personal contact that been most worried about in all this….. other than those who end up in ICU with the F-ing thing.
Sorta of like 20% of the nation getting in a car accident all at once and not being able to work.
This virus will affect all walks of life
If it were my pick I would take the defensive lineman at 5
I’d take Tua if he fell, but OT would be my first choice. D is set up least pretty average now.
It seems flores is focusing more on the defense, my second choice at 5 with definitely be an offense of tackle
3 QBs that are draft worthy:
Burrow
Tua
Herbert
Everyone else in this draft is meh
Gonna guarantee that one of those 3 will be there at #5.
Agree which is why I don’t want to see us trade up
Why would you draft a quarterback at 5, you just spent 1⁄2 round pick last year on Rosen, we have Fitzpatrick starting, he let us pretty good last year.
But unless you think Rosen can be the guy need the QB of the future. Ain’t FitzMagic according to Father Time.
It’s really not what I think, it’s what the front office of the Miami dolphins think about Rosen, they gave up a number to round pick to get him, wouldn’t abandoning that at this moment show they were wrong in doing that?
Because Rosen is obviously not the answer and Fitzpatrick is 37. The odds of being in this good of a position to land a franchise QB is unlikely to happen again.
And you know this how, because we stuck them in the game without an offense of line?
No because Flores obviously didn’t believe he was the guy
I owe Stanger a beer 🍺
That applies to identical retweets. Great minds thinking alike is cool and predictable. 🙂
Just enjoy your beer 😉
You put Rosen behind a good offense of line, a good running back, and I think he’ll be just fine
He got a chance with 2 different teams and didn’t show enough each time
The guy has never got in a chance, he’s been with 50 different offensive coordinators, different head coaches, crappy offensive lines, he’s never had a chance
Rosin has a strong arm, he’s very accurate, he just doesn’t have the physical stamina of Fitzpatrick, Fitzpatrick holds up better with less protection.
I keep having these visions of COACH FLO just letting Simmons run amok on defense like a swiss army knife weapon 🙂 ……………….. 4.39
If we don’t go QB at 5 Simmons would be a great pick
I strongly disagree with spending that #5 pick on tua
He a by product of a great college team with that doesn’t mean he will succeed in the NFL, plus he’s injury prone.
If Simmons is there at 5 he would be a great pickup
I think the giants will select an offense of tackle, I think the lions are going to take their quarterback as they just lost sleigh, so it’s more than likely Simmons will be there at 5
lions cb
Congrats Naples!
Well maybe we will get a new article to ignore at the top of the page everyday? 😉
Thanks, Wyo.
LOL
I don’t know how these guys have time to write these cool articles for us.
I read everything Mike E. writes.
and the other contributors as well.
Ken….. I truly believe COACH FLO shut down ROSEN on purpose because lack of O-line protection. Fitz is a wiley old vet, ROSEN will get another chance to prove himself. I trust that the coach and GM that brought him here just last year did not make a bad call in doing so,
We actually have a good situation at QB
Even if Rosen, was shut down for performance, it’s a little early to give up on him
But if you think one of the QBs can be your guy
You take that QB
I think that’s the question, does the franchise think Tua, Herbert or Burrow is a special QB
I am not sure. He was pulled in the middle of a game and didn’t see the field again the rest of the season. Part of me hopes you are right because I liked Rosen coming out of college but he just has not delivered yet.
I think Burrow is unattainable.
Of course, “every man has his price.”
AND
Cincy has not discarded Dalton yet
so that seems to portend Cincy taking hometown hero Young.
Maybe they are just waiting to ditch Dalton til the draft to make sure they get a QB.
The key there might be what NE does. Do they roll with Stidham?
If they need a vet year or a vet just in case, then Dalton is probably their type.
However, Cam Newton just became available. soooo …
I just don’t see them passing on a QB at 1
I would like in this order :
#5a. Isaiah Simmons S/LB/4.39 utility weapon
#5b. Jedrick Wills Jr. OT/ stud
#5c. Derrick Brown DL/stud
#5d. whoever the FO thinks is best for us…lol
of coarse this is assuming that Chase Young is also off the board at #5.

Thanks! That’ll eat up some time. It seems we’re opening all stores on Saturday’s only, so I can work 1 day a week! Woo hoo!
3 firsts and 2 seconds — and am actually thinking we have a lot of flexibility with them. Only thing has to be there is 2 OL guys. Can leave QB till next year and pick up a safety or RB after that.
No so bad for a team that was supposedly worst in the NFL talent-wise last year.
Lol, hopefully Brady.
Congrats Naples!

ok now I want that Eno guy.
would be a great change of pace back with Howard.
He’s like a poor mans Clyde Edwards Helaire
I think we can wait until the 2nd round and take
Swift
Dobbins
Taylor
Edwards-helaire
One of those guys in that order (although I’m sure everyone’s rankings are different)
And take if we take one of those top 3 guys and not Edwards-helaire
Then maybe take a guy like Eno to be sproles type 3rd down back
Or if we take Edwards Helaire
Maybe look at an Aj Dillon or a Zack Moss type
I would like to take 2 backs
One in the 2nd and one on day 3
And work then have a 3 back rotation with Howard
Howard’s been pretty durable in the nfl but last year he missed some games
Not sure what we’ll do but I’m not sure we need two backs in the draft. If we can upgrade the OL I think we can be productive with Howard, a rookie somewhat early along with Laird, Gaskins or someone else. But we have enough picks to take two if we don’t trade a bunch. We should stock up on OL throughout the draft though. I’d say at least 3 – 1st, 2nd or 3rd, and mid or late rounds.
We have like 3000 picks

I’m not sure we as fans even realize how significant we upgraded our defense.
Van Noy, Lawson and Ogbah makes our front 7 significantly better. Even Grugier-Hill has good tape as a LB and not just as a ST’s guy. Then add Jones to our secondary along with X and we have one of the best corner tandems in the league. We’ll see with Fejedelum at Safety or is he more depth/role/ST’s. After looking at these signings along with the promising young defenders we already had, it’s not just a start, it already has the makings of a top defense. We have more talent than you might think.
Yeah we can add to it in the draft and we will, but I really think QB, OL and RB will be the focus with premium picks. Make the offense better than it was last year and we had our moments, this is already a competitive team. Jordan Howard was a nice signing to add a proven and still young downhill RB. Hopefully Flowers and Karas make a difference on the OL. TE Michael Roberts as an inline blocker.
Elandon Roberts gives us depth at LB, a situational fullback and ST’s.
Grier, Flores and company did a nice job in FA. We still have almost $50M left in cap space and the drafts picks we all know. 🙂
All 3 of those players are solid players
Not high priced blue chip players
But very good
Offenses are going to struggle against us
Yep! Van Noy is a huge addition not only because of his play but he knows how this defense works and will help with the development of young defenders and those new to the scheme. You can see how strategic FA was on defense.
I think Flores wants us to be a relentless defense. I’ve mentioned it before but it’s similar to the “46” defense. 8 man fronts and Cover 1 – 2 press man corners and a single high safety. Of course it changes with spread offenses and you need extra DBs at times. But it’s still a stunt/blitz scheme. Never let the protection or QB get comfortable. If you have good cover guys which we do, it gets even tougher.
The other thing about signing Byron Jones to a big contract is that he is multiple. Dallas used him to cover specific receivers whether outside, inside or TEs. He only has 2 INTs in 5 years which to me is kind of strange for such a talented guy, but he locks onto receivers and causes a lot of incomplete passes. Maybe he just has bad hands but can still break up passes. LOL
They only threw at his man 13% of the time. Basically, he had his man so well covered, the QBs never saw his man as a viable option to throw to.
If there are 3 WRs out, your guy should be thrown to 33% of the time.
Not Byrons’ guys though.
That is what is known as a lock down corner.
Howard was doing the same thing in 2018. If we get a gift of fortune as Dolphins fans, this sets up the front 7 strategy. I’m diggin the direction.
Nickel Defense:
DT Godchaux
DT Wilkins
Edge Ogbah
Edge Lawson
LB Van Noy
LB Baker
DB Jones
DB Needham
CB Howard
S Rowe
S McCain
Reading the bios on these FA signings, they are all of that “plays like his hair is on fire” type, yet they are all high football IQ guys, low amount of penalties, bone-cunching hitters, freakish athletes.
They are the old school “football players.”
Put them anywhere, they make plays. They are all good at reading where the ball is or where it is going, and then they arrive at that spot with violence.
Hang in there Mike E
It’s all we can do too. Would have been nice to be notified a day or 2 before we were forced to close. Would have helped tremendously. Oh well.
We are still allowed to do delivery, but that’s a small fraction, but better than nothing. We are pretty much screwed. Just opened a 2nd location 5 weeks ago….now hoping to keep 1 if this goes longer than a couple more weeks.
Oh man ER, really sorry to hear that. Not sure if this makes sense, and also not sure geographically close the new restaurant is to the older one, but does it make sense to just open one and use all your staff to do deliveries? You could even advertise fast deliveries if you have more people working at your one location. Best of luck through this pal. Hopefully if you do temporarily close one the other one can support it long enough to stave off closing it permanently.
ER — man that’s tough, especially just opening the 2nd place. Hoping that your delivery goes through the roof. Know that’s what the people in my building are having for dinner now. Our service has no contact deliveries. All on the card including tip before get here and just drop.
Tim, great posts about the D. Now if we were to add Derrick Brown to the D-line with those savvy smart vets at LB and on the edge. Damn, that gets me excited!
Eno Benjamin is an interesting prospect to consider in the mid rounds. I almost want to wait until then to draft a RB cause I feel the OL talent really drops after the 3rd round.
My favorite mid round RB (thinking compliment to Jordan Howard) has got to be Anthony McFarland from Maryland. I love his quick twitch moves and immediate acceleration. He is only 5’8″ but is stout at 208 pounds and has 4.44 speed. I kind of look at him as in between Swift and Edwards-Hellaire type of back. I think he would be a perfect compliment to our new bell cow.
Mine is Ke’Shawn Vaughn, he runs like Ricky.

I just watched his game tape vs Alabama. You made it sound like he’s only effort, he’s bad ass, like a short Roger Craig.
——————————————————–
Wasnt trying to make it sound like that, i know the guy is badass, what im saying goes to my definition of over-achiever, there are people who are incredibly talented, size, speed, etc, and they get by on that talent, they dont raise the level of their play, their play level id naturally high. Edwards-Helaire isnt one of those guys, i mean yeah compared to any of us he is incredibly talented, but in college he was no Fournette, he was no Dalvin cook, those guys were men among boys when they were in the lower tiers of football, ie college and before.
When they hit the NFL a lot of those guys shockingly fail more times than not, because they dont know what to do when their talent is only slightly higher than others across the line. A guy like Edwards-Helaire know just what to do, same thing they have always been doing, the turn it up a notch, they max effort to push beyond their to grab for that next rung on the ladder. I’m not belittling his talent, he has it, but he has more than that too. He has always had to play with a chip on his shoulders and i think that make him a stronger overall player.

D, if Cincy got Rosen they wouldn’t need a QB and could draft Brown, Simmons or Okudah at 5 and they need defense bad.
———————————————————-
If Rosen is good enough to be “THE” guy, we wouldnt be letting him go. Cincy wouldnt want Rosen and bypass taking the best QB in the class, at least, like Ken said, the safest and most likely to turn out QB pick of the draft.
It doesnt make sense for them to do that, at all. They are going to want our picks, and they are going to want as many of them as they can get. I cant see a minimum of 2 1sts and 2nds, for us to move to one. That’s a big price to pay for any player.
Im thinking before all is said and done, Albert Wilson is either going to get cut or he is going to have to re-structure his deal to make it ok to keep him. He is third highest paid player on our roster, a lot closer to the top two than seems to justify what he brings to the offense. I think WR might be a target for us in the draft, even though most here feel its not needed, i think they might like to drop the 9.5 in cap savings they would get back by cutting him. Pick up Denzel Mims or Jalen Reagor in the draft and you have a cheap instant replacement for Wilson without the constant injuries.
Or Duvernay, probably wouldnt even have to use anything more than a late 2nd probably even a mid 3rd to get one of these three.
100% agree and I like those WR’s. I think Reagor may be the first off the board of those 3.
D, I was looking for a quick twitch water bug type to compliment Howard. My mid round preference was also Vaughn until we signed Howard. Of course, that is only a 2 year deal. I think Howards shelf life will drop off after this contract with us.
Vaughn is like a Ricky. He is mostly a one cut guy much more than a quick twitch RB. What I like most about him is he is TOUGH to tackle. I didn’t watch many Vandy games but I remember him having to be brought down by multiple tacklers a lot. He isn’t brought down by one guy very often. Listening to all these draft guru’s out there and their rankings, I think he is the most underrated RB in this draft.
D, also, what do you think of Miss State bringing the air raid offense to the SEC? I think it will really benefit Kylin Hill and vault him into top 5 RB talk next year.
Its very likely we wont have an nfl season this year. Training camp is 4 months away. Doesnt seem like much time considering current events
I don’t believe that for a second. There is no timetable, they can just push everything back. There is no precedence for this, no deadline either. If it runs into March or April, so what?
Good info from Travis here . . .
https://www.miamidolphins.com/news/shaq-lawson-2020-nfl-free-agent-analysis
We now have 77 players on the roster.
Under the new CBA, how many can we keep?
How many can dress?
Final roster is still 53. Not sure if still 90 for camp.
ER
Will they let you do take out as well?
That might help.
Several restaurants around here are doing that.
Not just the usual fast food places.
I hope you can get some relief from the govt. in the form of bridge loans and such.
ORob
man, don’t even go there.
OTAs might get wiped out for sure though.
Could they have a NFL season with no fans in the stands?
just TV?
Maybe NBA and NHL and MLB could pilot that for us.
Maybe in the future, all sports will be played that way.
just for a TV audience, no live spectators.
sure would solve a lot of traffic issues …
It may be a year before things return to normal.
You cant have contact or share locker rooms under current conditions
China has been under attack for 4 months
The thing is even when we recover there will be a risk of another outbreak so we will have to maintain restrictions for some time
RE: Cam Wake
“Whenever he does decide to hang up his cleats, Wake should be a no-doubt Hall of Famer. But for now, opposing quarterbacks still have to fear him on Sundays.”

Just asking, but in my mind I don’t see him as a “no doubt Hall of Famer”. I like him, he was awesome, always came to work, didn’t complain.. but I don’t see him as “no doubt”. I could be wrong.

What a great name and congratulations Naples on your grandson’s arrival. I hope you get to see him soon.
