Tired of taking Silkwood Showers only to stay home all day? Well have no fear, the NFL Draft is around the corner…eh…maybe…
Anyway Piggy Kipe
r is here to help you examine some of the prospects.
Today we are looking at the Running Back position. Like toilet paper, the running back position has a short shelf life but is always in demand, so teams also keep them in bulk.
The value of the running back position is not what it used to be. Before the Goodell/Brady/Peyton era, teams places a lot more value on running backs. But now, we often go a few drafts in a row without a running back taken in the first round.
There is a good chance that a running back is not selected in the first round in 2020. But the Dolphins are one of a handful of teams with multiple picks, so there is a chance the Dolphins take a running back at #26 and het their pick of the liter. If they do that, I can see the pick being D’Andre Swift from Georgia.
Swift is fun to w
atch. He’s a patient runner, who has a 1 cut style of running. On tape, Swift has a lot of productive runs after planting his right foot in the ground, making a cut and turning up filed. His top end speed is not lightning fast, but you wouldn’t know it when you watch him run, because this one cut style puts a lot of early separation between the tacklers and Swift
Swift is a good receiver too. If Swift has any weaknesses it’s ball security and pass protection. But he is a very productive and talented back and worth a late first or an early second round pick.
Don’t worry, there are plenty of other good backs. Like Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor. For most of the season I expected Taylor to be the first back off the board. But it’s starting to look like that isn’t the way it will shape up. That shouldn’t scare anyone. Taylor had a very productive career running behind some very good offensive lines with the Badgers. Taylor had 6,174 rushing yards in three years with 50 touchdowns! If that’s not impressive to you, go back to coveting hand sanitizer.
Taylor has good size coming in at 5’11, 219 pounds. But he actually moves like a smaller back showing the kind if shiftiness that projects well in the NFL. He’s been durable throughout his career even after carry after carry. He really has one glaring weakness: ball security. Taylor has had a few fumbles but he’s also had close to 1000 touches, so make sure you put it in perspective.
Sticking with big numbers in the Big Ten, another productive runner that might be off the board before the 2nd round is through is J.K. Dobbins, who had 2,000 rushing years
in his final year with Ohio State. Dobbins isn’t as shifty as the two running backs we mentioned on this list. Dobbins is more like a tough lunch pail runner who is going to be consistently productive. He actually kind of reminds me of new Dolphin, Jordan Howard…so if you are thinking “change of pace” he probably won’t do that, but what Dobbins will likely do is have a very good NFL career.
Finally rounding out our top four NFL backs is Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Edwards-Helaire was kind of lost in the shuffle in terms of hype at LSU because of all the attention Joe Burrow received. But Edwards-Helaire was very productive for LSU. In fact he had over 1,800 total offensive yards.
Some of those yards came through the air as he had 55 catches. He’s easily the best receiving back on this list.
A lot of people think of Edwards-Helaire as a bowling ball stout runner, and at 5’8, 209 pounds, he fits that mold, but really, both Swift and Dobbins aren’t much taller than Edwards-Helaire.
He is more quick than fast, but that quickness goes a long way to breaking a lot of tackles. On tape you can see his toughness on each carrry as he fights for yards. But on paper, what some people miss is that he is one of the best backs on this list in terms of ball security. He just doesn’t fumble a lot.
These are the four backs that are most likely to be selected before round 2 is over. But there are plenty of others backs in this draft, and we will take a closer look at them next time.

Nice job Piggy. FWIW I love Dobbins but you are right he is a lot like Howard
There’s nothing wrong with having similar back
It’s just not a change of pace
Good write, Piggy. I like a lot of backs in this draft. Hope the one we pick is marvelous! 🙂
I hear Jay Ajayi is still available….
Hey Piggy, nice job! Good to see you back in the saddle!
Too bad Mike Didka isn’t around anymore. Remember when he gave up a 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 in ’99 and 1&3 in ’00 to move up to the 5th overall position?
Then we traded 1,4,1 for Ricky
Yeah, where is Ditka when need him, since have the 5th pick😉
I AM A PEACOCK! YOU GOTTA LET ME FLY!!
What movie?
Mark Walburg….Spenser Confidential?
The Other Guys?
Hey Douglas, how’s the wife?
She died….
Attaboy!
Nice write Pig! I think Swift is by far the best once the ball is in his hands pass catching, but not sure who has the best hands, Swift is also the shiftiest, Taylor isn’t close.
I like Swift and Edwards-Helaire a lot. I did think at the combine Taylor showed good feet in the drills and at 5-10 225 ran a 4.39. Lots of good backs in this draft.
Good ole ESPN, they announce the Rams vs Chiefs Monday nighter from 2018 is going to be airing at the top of the hour, then proceed to show all the key highlights and who won. I thought the outcome went the other way.
Nice write Piggy!
My favorite is Dobbins!
But I wouldn’t bitch about any of the 4!
Which back we take all depends on the type of back we’re looking for. Who knows we may want to add another hammer along with Howard and play that way. Laird showed last year he can be a 3rd down back type.
I think we’re going to take a back early and maybe take one of those change of pace guys either later or as an UDFA. Picking up Jordan lessened the need somewhat, but in today’s game you need a couple of quality starting type backs.
Agreed. It should be easy for us to add another quality back, maybe two.
Yes! The other guys. Funny Ass Shit
Watched it Saturday, it was hilarious!
I hope you like prison food….and penis
Awesome write Piggy Kiper. Sorta hoping we don’t RB till at the earliest the 2nd. But if one or two of those are there we could do worse.
It really depends on how the draft plays out. There really is no positional order. The best talents are the best talents according to each team’s board.

Facts:
Both Tokyo and Singapore are getting back to normal, curve flattened. Why?
Immediate mass testing, tracing, never a lockdown.
U.S. knew at same time. Massive failure and continued lies. Lies are killing people.
Curves going up nationally.
This is exciting!
Facts: “The virus mutates so slowly that the virus strains are fundamentally very similar to each other,” said Charles Chiu, professor of medicine and infectious disease at UC-San Francisco School of Medicine. No one strain of this SARS virus is more deadly than another.
Way too early to know everything about it, but this could be great news.
This has been my understanding from multiple sources, i.e. doctors and scientists.
Wuhan, China began opening Monday.
Albeit late to party, hopefully, lessons are being learned and will be applied prospectively.
I can only hope the models are off. Not sure how you factor in the American spirit.

you think Biadasz is still top of the 2nd with his hip surgery last year and shoulder this year? I think will slide to the 3rd or 4th now. He just didn’t look the same in ’19 after coming back from the hip. They he had surgery on his shoulder this offseason. Ruiz, Cushenberry and Hennessy will probably get called before him. (sorry Piggy)
I actually agree that he’s dropped a lot
That’s not a huge problem for us though
Maybe if our first 5 picks are QB, 2 OTs, RB and safety, I’ll be really happy
Maybe we should look at center in the 3rd or 4th round
Krishna, where are the alternative facts? You can’t throw out facts without sharing the alternative facts….
🙄
after our experience with Pouncey I am leery of taking a center with hip problems. There is a yuge YUGE stress on the center’s hips.
This work better for you sunshine? 😉

No, you still screwed the pooch on pick #5
That’s pretty funny. Rockphin. Got it.
If you can’t do what you do, do what you can. Bon Jovi’s new song.
I honestly think the route to go is to take two OTs fairly early
👍👍
^ I wouldn’t be surprised to see QB,OT,OT in the first (in no particular order).

Much better. No hip issues here.
Lol, so a person i know who works at a car dealership just told me they are making higher than normal sales and have higher than normal numbers of people out shopping for cars. WTF i mean that shit cant wait a month or so? People are so fucking stupid.
Or maybe they want to help the economy. I bet the deals are good too.
This is part of the problem. I feel like it’s the same with my employer. By being open, people think it’s OK to come in. As long as people come in, the place is going to stay open to do business. If no one came in, everyone would be closed. There lies the problem.
Deals like 0% APR and no payments for 6 months.
That better Rock?

Round 1 Pick 18: Jordan Love, QB, Utah State (B+)
Round 1 Pick 26: Josh Jones, OT, Houston (B+)
Round 2 Pick 7: Antoine Winfield Jr., FS/SS, Minnesota (B+)
Round 2 Pick 24: JK Dobbins, RB, Ohio State (A+)
Round 3 Pick 6: Lloyd Cushenberry III, C/OG, LSU (A+)
I’ll take it. LOL.
Do you notice love has rocketed up most of the boards in these mocks? Some have him higher than Herbert now.
That is a big step toward getting the online to where even Rosen can be effective.
Oline Goddamnit stop correcting that to online
I like this guy at 5
Watch him against Alabama, he’s a JAG.
A month ago it was easy to get Love in the second round when doing mocks now he is top 15 in all these Mock draft boards. (Due to quarterback over value of course)
Cinn, Mia, LA, and NE. Who else would draft one in the 1st?
Chargers
JAX, PITT, LV, DET are all possibilities. I’d even put WAS in as a possibility
Wyo – LA is the Chargers silly!
OH?
I thought he was talking about the Rams abysmal QB play? 😉
LOL – Goff hasn’t really been all that, it’s true
I think MJD was sniffing glue this week. WTF!
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2020/mock-drafts
Give some of that glue to Whoever we need to to get Borrow, Jackson, and Swift!
two of the four on the first page show Burrow going to us. ALL FOUR show Jackson going to us. I thought that was remarkable.
Mondo throws more shit at the wall than we do!
I agree with Armando in that article. Someone else posted on here something very similar (piggy or mike e?) First QB taken has seldom been he best QB taken the past decade and more.
A trade to #1 gets you the choice of QB’s!
If you choose the shitty one? That’s on you then!
If you get stuck with #3 then you better hope the other 2 GM’s F-d it up! 😉
History shows that they do more often than not. Rogers after Smith? Not 2 gm’s 23 gms! Trubisky over Mahmomes? Mayfield over Jackson? Goff over Wentz? Winston over Marriota? (ok they both suck) Bortles and Manziel over Bridgewater?
In you guy’s opinion who was the best QB drafted last year?
Ryan Fitzpatrick! 🙂
he wasn’t drafted last year. No grade. 😉
Murrrey, Jones, Haskins, Lock, Grier, Finley, Stidham?
If NE rolls with Stidham this year, he will most likely have the most success….
I see people mocking WRs for us and think it doesn’t make any sense, but if the plan is to cut Wilson, which should be done, we’d only eat 1.334M in dead cap money, so we could draft one. Without him we have Parker, William’s, Grant, Ford and Hurns, seems like enough. No one drafted in the later rounds should be able to crack the top 5, but Preston did last year.
They mat restructure wilson. If they were going to outright dump him it should have been done already
Mel Kiper has us taking Tua @5 Swift @18 and Josh Jones @ 26.
Swift at 18 seems early to me
I think they are looking at an OT at 18 or even earlier with a trade up if they don’t have to give up too much
When you consider that the difference between the top 4 RBs is not that great, then unless you really prefer one to the rest, it might be worth taking more OL or a Safety at 26
I wouldn’t be happy about a RB at 18
The reality is that there just isn’t a “sure thing” when you’re drafting anybody….especially a QB. The problem is that so many of these draft eligible players are so severely overhyped that people begin to believe they are as good as advertised. Then, when they don’t live up to those fabricated and hyperbolic evaluations, they’re seen as busts or didn’t live up to the expectations. Well, your expectations were probably flawed in the first place.
***
Trying to say what a player is or isn’t when they’ve only played a year or two….let alone before they are drafted….is ridiculous. But, nobody wants to hear that. They just want what they want now…..and if he doesn’t live up to that fabricated hype immediately….well, he must suck then, right?
http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/positions/qb
It is really shocking when you look at it. SO FEW good QB’s get drafted
or rather so few of the QB’s drafted turn out great I should say
Chris Cuomo tested positive. Guessing won’t keep him off the air though. Might at some point make him a check-in instead of hosting his show though.
?????????????
Rock – I was the one who put the info out there on the first QB taken in each draft. Much more often than not that QB doesn’t fare well.
2018 – Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Rosen, Jackson. Right now it’s Jackson
2017 – Trubisky, Mahomes, Watson – The latter 2 are easily outpacing Trubisky
2016 – Goff, Wentz, Brissett and Prescott. I’d probably say Prescott
2015 – They all are just meh (Winston, Mariota etc)
2014 – Bortles, Manziel, Bridgewater, Carr, Garoppolo. It’s basically almost ascending order, the later drafted the better.
2013 – May have been the worst year to draft a QB, all terrible
2012 – Luck – Easily, although a short career
2011 – The great Fig Newton but you can make a case for Andy Dalton, at least as far as consistency
Basically, you get my drift
Only 3 weeks till the draft. I may enjoy this draft more than any other, and not just because we have so many picks. This time between early Feb and late July has always been the dead zone of sports for me, but I guess I never really appreciated how untrue that is until now.
No NHL (where my Blues were in the midst of another potential title run), no baseball starting, no NBA playoffs, no March Madness.
And the value of the bye just increased a whole lot.
It happened again, Cincy taking Chase Young #1. Since we really addressed D in FA, I went O heavy in beginning of draft then d.
5 Joe Burrow, QB LSU
18 Josh Jones, OT Houston
26 Cesar Ruiz, IOL Michigan
39 Austin Jackson, OT USC
56 Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB LSU
70 Jeremy Chinn, S Southern Illinois
141 Devin Duvernay, WR Texas
153 McTelvin Agim, IDL Arkansas
154 Anfernee Jennings, EDGE Alabama
173 Lamar Jackson, CB Nebraska
185 Justin Strnad, LB Wake Forest
227 Michael Warren II, RB Cincinnati
246 Carter Coughlin, EDGE Minnesota
251 Joey Magnifico, TE Memphis
SWEET
This TE class is not great but just full of prospects that could be good or not. One good prospect that no one really talks about is Joey Magnifico from Memphis. He is 6’3″ 240, has good hands and decent speed. He converted from LB to TE. He is always hyped up and loves to hit like a LB when blocking. One knock on him is he will overplay his blocking assignment at times.
He has a great name.
Definitely a great name lol. I like Pickney from Vandy best, again, he’s not a great TE but neither are any of them this years. He is really well balanced though and maybe develops into a better receiver in the pros.
Pinckney reminds me of Smythe but think he may have more upside. I thought smythe would be better be now. We will see.
This would be weird if it happened. Not sure I would pass on Isaiah Simmons though
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2020-nfl-mock-draft-redskins-take-tua-chase-young-falls-to-giants-chargers-trade-up-for-herbert/
I wouldn’t throw a fit if this is how it turned out but id really want to know that they just really didn’t think the others had potential to be their guy. As long as thats the case im good with them not making a move to get him, but with these picks, if we dont use them to go up and get our guy, ill be disappointed if they didn’t make the move just to hoard picks. I also dont like the pick of Wills over Thomas.
This draft almost seems designed to piss off most Phins fans lol, Jumped not one but twice to get a franchise QB.
Yeah, it would be something
I’m pretty sure the draft will not play out the way everyone expects or seems to project.
It never really seems to, so yeah, you’re probably right
No lately someone we all “knew” would be gone, was suddenly there for the taking! 😉
We’ve got so many options and choices it leaves it wide open. The team may not even know exactly which direction it is going until the chips start falling. I won’t really be surprised whichever direction they go, short of selecting 3 punters in rd 1 lol.
This is a great article and all, but who’s gonna be this year’s lache seastrunk?
Joshua Kelly?
I think he could be a late round steal and Vaughn is another.
There’s only one seastrunk
And I’m still holding out hope he makes it to the nfl
I just watched The Natural, so I know these things happen.
There he is!!!
“No NHL (where my Blues were in the midst of another potential title run), no baseball starting, no NBA playoffs, no March Madness.”
Cav, as bad as those are the one that hurts more than all of those combined is The Masters.
Long distance dedication to our “old” lives
Never been much of a golf fan myself, but I would happily watch The Masters right now. Heck, I’d even settle for the XFL or CFL.
Just a few hours a week is all I need. Just to get me straight, to help wean me off, then I can quit next month. I promise…
Holy shit! I turned on the new this morning and there were 3000 deaths from Covid-19. I just turned it on and we had another 700 deaths in the US today. I feel so bad for people who are losing their loved ones. I hope everyone here takes this seriously and stays safe.
We as citizens of this great country have got to do whatever is necessary
TO PRESERVE FOOTBALL SEASON
It is really sad, more Americans dead from this than on 9/11
Apparently a bunch of the deaths in the New Orleans area were in one retirement home. It was brought in to that facility and just spread through the people who were there and because of their older age a bunch didn’t survive it . Some the person who that traces back to is going to feel like shit if its not one fo the ones that died i mean,
I think it was more than 50 deaths were from that same place.
The Flying Pig says:

Yeah in baseball when you can play until your 122.
Not to mention having that as a BMI
Body mass index?
and this is going to be a rough two week period. as a nation we face a difficult few weeks as we approach that really important day when we are going to see things get better all of a sudden, and it’s gonna be like a burst of light…….
FUCK they “HOPE to limit the deaths in the US” to 100-240K
Stop watching the news or press conferences it’s depressing
Isaiah McKenzie: Now that Tom Brady is gone, it’s Bills’ time to take over
HA!! HA HA HA HA HA!!
I get why he’s saying that, but fuck that! We’re coming up and sooner than later we’re gonna fight for this division every year.
I was just talking to a friend of mine how quickly teams turn around these days with the right situation. It’s not necessarily a climb from season to season the way people view the Bills. A lot of times it’s because everything came together, the right group of coaches and players, the ball bounces your way and you stay relatively healthy. My friend is a Giants fan and I told him I would not be surprised if the Dolphins, not the Bills or Jets are the next team up if the Pats continue to slide. He was hesitant about that but understood what I meant. I said the Giants could do it to in the NFC East because no team in that division is a juggernaut.
The 49ers won 4 games in 2018
You’d have to pay me to watch golf. A lot!
With Free Agency the NFL has become college football without the alumni fan base. Every year your seniors graduate and move on and you get a new crop of freshmen.
Rock – I don’t think people will take COVID-19 seriously until the death count hit 100K. Look at the dumb asses on Spring Break or at Mardi Gras. Or massing to watch the USS Comfort come into port in MYC. Or attending services at a mega church in Tampa. Or blaming it on Trump or any other single political entity. People swing between being sheep and being selfish and entitled.
The people waiting for the boat was amazing
Wtf – it was on tv
It’s a freakin boat, it doesn’t turn into a space ship when you witness it with you own eyes
I know…”Hey. let’s go get infected watching the boat that’s here because everyone is getting infected!” Fucking brilliant.
LMAO!!!!
Piggy, I’ve mentioned the 49ers finishing last in 2018 as well. The one thing there though is they had a solid roster and then lost Garoppolo early in the season. But that is how quick things turn around. Another example is the Bears were 5-11 in 2017 and went 12-4 in 2018.
We did it ourselves in the not too long ago. 1-15 to 11-5
Yep! Rebuilds are not 3-4 or 4-5 years anymore. It’s 1-2. I don’t mean win the Super Bowl, but back to playoff relevance.
Teams also fall quickly – the eagles are a good example of that
I still think Miami is more likely to trade up from #18 then to trade up from #5.
I agree
between 6 – 17 the OT market thins a lot
I agree with that. They might have three prospects they really want and would rather land them then to have 4 more draft picks. We could trade up multiple times, use 4 picks to do it and still have a solid draft with some mid round competition.
Example:
#5 – BPA
#8 – BPA from ARZ for #18, 39 and 153.
#13 – BPA from SF for #26, 56 and 141.
(SF has #13 and 31, but no 2nd, 3rd or 4th)
I would not be surprised to see us be players like this. We already signed 10 FAs and many significant signings.
Now we have #70, 154, 173, 185, 227, 246 and 251 left in the draft. That’s 20 new players. Then there are the UDFAs.
Fans like lots of draft picks. They do their draft simulators, and even with the 14 we have, they still trade down and try to get more. LOL
It’s realistic – but I don’t want to trade the 39 or 56 picks…lol
Can’t we just pile on day 3 picks
I smell bs but here it is
Mando has actually linked us to Tua, Herbert and Love as well
So he might be right on one
Piggy, I knew you’d oink at trading both 2nd round picks. LOL
The example was we have 15 prospects on our board with 1st round grades and we want three of them. It’s not about the round but the potential player. It could go that way. We have all of those
options.
What if it’s QB, OL and defense with those 1st round picks? It’s not like you can’t find other good players the rest of the way. We already got better in FA. Use the resources we have to plug and play. 🙂
I want picks!!!🐷🐷🐷
So three 1st round picks isn’t enough along with 7 mid and late round picks? Look at the roster, not just draft picks. 14-17 draft picks aren’t making the team. LOL
Piggy and everyone else – we also have two 1’s and two 2’s next year. Grier in theory killed it. In one offseason being named GM/Czar of Football operations, Grier has acquired three additional 1st rd picks and two 2nd round picks as well as later picks, and cleared a lot of cap space to attack FA the way we did in 2020. How else do you rebuild?
Now the product on the field has to happen. We all know that. But Grier has been masterful. Give the guy credit for giving himself and the coaching staff the opportunity to turn this franchise around.
If this doesn’t pan out… I give up! LOL
He’s done a great job
We have to see how it pans out
But he took the steps to set us up for success
What if those 3 1st round picks are your QB, an OT and a defender for the next 5 years at a minimum?
depending on who’s there at 13 i heard san fran may be interested in trading back to 18 and we move to 13 + a 2nd and multiple late rnders
we may trade back one of those 1st rnders and maybe in the 2nd as well to beef up next years draft. i also think we will be moving around trading up later.
i doubt we draft 14 players, the cap hit would be huge.
Maybe Jordan Love at 13??
The cap is nothing.
^^^
Mando’s crazy, if we wanted to draft any player we would’ve tanked, but we didn’t. you cant lose on purpose and expect to acquire talent, nobody would want to play for an organization like that.
The Bengals are a team that doesn’t care about winning, their owners are in it for the $. so what does cincy get for Burrow? they get #5, #18, & #26, and maybe some chump change,
all of which will cost them 60 mil to sign.
or do you take a guy that’s from Ohio to lead your team and spend 30m?
i believe Cincy is taking Burrow and he’ll be Dalton II
That would be a horrible deal. Burrow is not all that.
This is kind of what I see happening in 2020.
LT Rookie
LG Flowers
C Karras
RG Deiter
RT Davis
We need a good blocking TE – maybe Smythe or M. Roberts.
Does E. Roberts beat out Cox at FB/STs because he also plays LB?
Within a day I expect the Dolphins are seriously interested Tua and I reported first article
He’s just rotating interest in the QBs and telling people he said it first
Yeah i hate the reporters who do that. For fucks sake dude, just let it go. It happens all the time, he does it to other too. Just fucking stop.
Hell half the time we put it in our blog before he does so does that means he is stealing from us? Especially if you are covering all the bases, it going to happen that you mentioned something similar before someone else.
They do the same bs on ESPN, so during the draft they can re-air the guy saying he thought this pick would go to this team.
Before you ask! Cincy took Tua

excellent!
These guys in media are just throwing shit against the wall. On Fins news search there’s a trade up for Burrow, trade up for Tua, Ross saying not sold on Tua, and Herbert safest pick articles.
I reported back in 2015 that the Dolphins would be looking for a QB in 2020 and he would have a “T” in his name, probably the first letter. I SAID IT FIRST!!! I SAID IT FIRST!!!
These guys are fucking hacks! They don’t know more about anything than anyone. They just stand there and shout louder, that’s it.
Tim. I’ve heard that Miami wants to draft 10 players due to the fact that they dont want to spend 16m on their draft class. They want to be around 10m That’s why they expect them to move around in the draft. So money seems to matter or so i read
UGH!
That isn’t how the cap works, the first couple of rounds count against the cap, because their numbers are higher than the guys currently at the bottom of the top 51, then the rest of the rounds save money on the cap in most instances, because they’re minimum contracts.
If we draft 14 players are cap hit is 16 to 17 mil. If we draft 10 it is 10m. Its just what i read.
Don’t believe what the U75s tell you about the salary cap, they haven’t got a clue.
The 16M is a gross cap hit, if you add the rookies to the top 51, you also have to take others off, reducing the rookie salary cap, or it would be the top 65.
Don’t you think that, if you have 51 guys, top 51 for offseason, counting against the cap and you sign 14 rookies, most of the rookies won’t be in the top 51, since they’ll have league minimum contracts for 1st year players and not count against the offseason cap? The top couple of rounds of the draft have a little bit bigger cap hit, so they’ll replace guys currently in the top 51.
Stay safe all you NJ & NY area FMERS. Unbelievable how many people are infected. Stay home
A pastor was arrested for holding a church service yesterday in tampa.
good…wtf are people doing gathering together. Worship at home
Here is a RB that may be worth a late pick. He is one of the best in the FCS. One of those little bowling ball types, small but thick. He’s not a burner but decent speed.
Actually, he is bigger than I thought at 5’10” 220.
I wonder if any xfl players are considerations?
Dolphins were reportedly interested in WR Cam Phillips
Probably, but teams are not allowed to sign any until after the draft.
Is that new, because the top XFL QB signed with Carolina I believe. A couple of weeks ago the XFL allowed their players to sign with NFL teams.
Two other small school defenders who may be worth a mid to late round pick:
Derrek Tuszka, EDGE, North Dakota State
There has been plenty of talent out of North Dakota State including Easton Stick, Billy Turner and most notably Wentz. This year Derrek Tuszka could be the next player out of the FCS school to make a splash in the NFL. Tuszka led North Dakota State’s defense last season and recorded his best year yet. Enroute to a national championship, Tuszka recorded 15.5 tackles for loss and 13 1/2 sacks. He was voted Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and still holds the conference record for sacks (26 ½).
Dante Olson, LB, Montana
Dante Olson was a menace in the middle of Montana’s defense and a tackling machine. Olson, the reigning first-team All-Big Sky selection, led the FBS and FCS in tackles (179) for the second straight season while also shattering the previous school record of 130 set by Kendrick Van Ackeren during the 2015 season. Olson is known for his football smarts, range and leadership. All eyes will be him on as he has pieced together one of the more impressive resumes of any FCS prospect this season. He had one of the more surprising vertical jump performances at the NFL Scouting Combine and leaped 42-inches. While he’s not seen as a Day 1 starter, Olson can develop into a spot starter down the road. He’ll likely have to first earn his reps through special teams which he has plenty of experience with already.
You would think after all the defensive FAs miami acquired our first pick in the draft would be an offensive player.
But im not sold on that. How good will this D be adding the DT Brown with our shut down corners?
No different Brown is lazy, he reminds me of the Rams guy that played in their Titans SB, that took himself out of the game with a minute left, and the game on the line.
There are a lot of draft experts that would dis agree with you. After all he will be drafted top 10
I don’t care, if they disagree. Watch his Alabama game tape, he’s not very strong and too big to be a speed rusher and no quick twitch. Sure he probably looks great against shitty OL, but he isn’t going to see them in the NFL often enough.
Flores is a defensive coach.
I agree I agree, we could take Simmons.
I like simmons. But dont we have our swiss army knife in van noy?
Simmons would be great to take away these great tight end threats such as kelsie in KC
Joe burrow may very well be a bust. And not the one in canton. He had a lot of help with the other guys on his team. The year prior he couldnt beat out haskins in an open compitition at ohio state.
Any draftee might be a bust, but there was no competition at OSU. Haskins was anointed the starter because they needed a running QB to work their offense.
If the skins take Tua. Do we move up to 3 to get chase young?
No
No. If Cincy takes Burrow and the Skins take Tua, there will be top rated OT and defense left at 5. Plus other QB.
If we stay at #5 we will get a great (prospect) player!
If we’re lucky it will be a franchise QB!
Ain’t picking a QB a biotch? Never know what you are getting, but then you sure as heck do want one bad. It’s like going on a first date and having to commit to at least a year together before it starts.
Steve, I was going by this when they listed the league schedule:
April 27: Beginning this date, NFL clubs may request permission to visit with, try out, or sign any player who was under contract to the XFL at the conclusion of the XFL season. Note: As a reminder, the Dolphins signed seven players last year after they had played in the short-lived Alliance of American Football (AAF).
https://www.miamidolphins.com/news/2020-nfl-dates-to-remember-offseason-calendar
Since the XFL season was cancelled, there is no restriction to the NFL signing them now.
he must have seen me mock drafting punters on here and said “oh shit” I need to sign that.
😉
You posted it first, remember dont let anyone else try to say they were the first to say the dolphins might take a punter, that was you……
Just read a piece on DT Brown, the guy was drooling all over him. If you’re a DT you better be stout against the run or an elite pass rusher or some above average combo of both. Brown isn’t any of those, what he does is makes random plays in the backfield, after freelancing, but wait he does it with style, and all the U75s say how great he is. He reminds me of Suh, without the power and the quick twitch.

I dont mind telling the good and bad of a player, and while i dont totally agree with your observations, i dont totally disagree either. There were games that Brown just didn’t seem to have a fire behind him, but there were also games he completely dominated. It didn’t seem to really match up with who he played against either, you are right his Alabama tape certainly wasnt his best, and i think it showed how sometimes he took a few plays off so to speak, but look at his LSU tape, its pretty good going against dominant players too. I think there is a concern with him, and i think you have to have vetted him to determine if he is a player like Phillips, and if you can coach the best out of that type of player. He is a brutal beast when he is on, like i have said before im not sure he isn’t the best player in the draft when he is on, but obviously you have to be on all the time to be that top person, Young is more on all the time, so he is more worthy of being called best in the draft.

I think Suh is a perfect comparison, i made it myself a while back, BUT he is also like Phillips in the fact that the knock against him is whether he brings that intendity every play. I know you werent using Suh’s positive attributes to describe him, and i believe thats where we differ, i do think he has the power and twitch of Suh, when he wants to.
I was going to mention Phillips too, but he’s just not strong, like Phillips. I watched 2 game tapes and highlights and he gets pushed around a lot, especially against the run.
