Miami Dolphins 2020 Schedule

So the schedule is out, and as per usghe, speculation and wild predictions ensue. I’ll be perfectly honest, I have no idea what in the heck to expect from this season, and not just from a Dolphins perspective. Rookies are learning from video chats rather than person to person instruction. As far as that’s concerned, I believe these kids should be fine in that regard, this is how they live their lives, this will not be shocking or difficult for them, they will learn just fine this way. The difficult part will be not physically practicing, because camps won’t open until it’s deemed safe enough for ALL of the 32 teams to be able to open, which is completely fair. This is a league built on parity after all.

This year one of the schedule highlights is playing against the NFC West. That is a rough division, headlined by the SB runner-ups, the SF 49ers. Every team in that division brings a different but similar challenge. The 49ers and Rams are built very much alike, strong defense, and run the ball effectively, don’t ask to much from your QB. The Seahawks have Russell Wilson and despite what plan they have, they always seem to lean on Wilson too much, even with their multi-headed RB attack, which by the way is again similar to the 49ers. The Arizona Cardinals bring a unique challenge with QB Kyler Murray, who is a true dual threat QB. The Cardinals acquired All Pro WR DeAndre Hopkins from the Texans and in the draft, snagged LB Isaiah Simmons, two players who should have a huge impact on their team.

Of course we play our division twice each, and while the Patriots look ready to fall off, you can never count out Bill Belichick, even without Tom Brady. Who knows, maybe Stidham is ready to run that offense more effectively than the nearly 43 YO Brady. The Jets and Bills are both improving and will be looked at to challenge for the AFC East crown. Will we be there with them or they will they be chasing us, or will we once again fail to even hit the .500 mark? I love what we accomplished in free agency with Van Noy, Ogbah, Lawson, Roberts, and our entire draft haul, which was quite good, that’s a whole lot of new pieces moving together. We did what we had to do to fill spots but unfortunately COVID-19 is going to hamper us because we do have so many new people, far more than any other team in our division and likely the entire NFL. We just Chip Foose’d our roster, Overhauled it! With a minimal amount of practice that our players will probably have, that’s unfortunately a huge disadvantage compared to a team that possibly added 3-4 new starters. We could have potentially 10 new starters (Jackson, Flowers, Karras, Hunt, Howard, Lawson, Van Noy, Ogbah, Jones, Igbinoghene, Ferguson), plus add in a big mix of rotation guys that are new as well. If you compare that to a team that has the same moving parts except for a very small few, you have to give them a leg up at least early on in the season due to familiarity.

All I know is, whatever form and whatever length, whether it’s a shortened 14 game season or a full 16 game season, I have never looked forward to watching this team as much as I do this season. I think there might be some growing pains, but I expect a steady improvement as the season moves on. It’s going to be exciting folks, whether Tua starts or not. You all know I don’t think we should rush Tua in, but whatever they decide I’m in 100%. I’m just being cautious, and we have a good situation with Fitzpatrick to be cautious. On the other hand, if there’s not one medical reason to keep Tua off the field and he shows he’s better than Fitz for our team from the get-go, than I’m down! No matter what, there’s a whole lotta guys I’m aching to see in action this season!

GO DOLPHINS!!

Might be time to change the schedule in the side-bar? 😉

You forgot to mention the AFC West?
You know the SB Champs! 😉

    And a Trip to Vagas!
(That would be an interesting Fest) 🙂

    Kansas City Chiefs
    Denver Broncos
    Oakland Raiders
    Los Angeles Chargers
That’s everyone in the AFC west isn’t it? 😉

Man we live in a virtual world. Blue Angels just flew over my place. Heard the engines and saw them in formation blowing smoke and flying low. I’m yelling at my wife to come see it. She’s going “I See it. I See it.” She was watching it on TV. 🙂

      Lol!

The Thunderbirds were here last month. I heard they were going to be flying down the strip and around town.

I’m heading into line at the Home Depot and a couple of them flew over, then a couple minutes later 5 of them flew over in V formation.

Last time I saw a fly over was at one of the AFC Championship games in the 70s in the OB. I’m sure OD was there too.

    No, I don’t remember…What do they say?

Watching game film on Van Noy after we signed him, he looked very average. Recently watched a film study that explained he isn’t your typical pass rusher and doesn’t try to beat the OL directly, he waits, then goes into a hole created by a double team, generally in a well timed blitz.

He had 54 pressures last year. All of this explains why Flores went after him, he knows how to use him. On other teams he’s likely nothing special.

The film study said we ran some of those same types of blitzes last year, but the blitzers didn’t have the speed to make it affective.

He’s also a very good run defender. Always hated those speed rushers on running plays that blasted off the line took themselves out of the play, you won’t see that with him.

Maybe all the teams need to come to Texas and Florida to start football operations?

This time of year we check out for a Fest date, but have a feeling if there is a Fest will be a most different one. Current plan is for 15k people in the stadium. About 30k+ have season tix. Seems that would leave us out.

In a normal year would be thinking Gulls, Bolts or Rams based on the schedule. And none of them travel well….. but then not sure if any fans will be traveling, especially when can’t get tix.

So I had a very vivid dream last night about the opening game vs the Patriots. We got out to a 22-6 lead in the first half. Tua was playing and threw his first TD pass. The Pats came back to take a 23-22 lead. But then we went on a drive, converting a key 4th down and 3 when an unnamed RB wearing #43 was stopped short but was brought down by a face mask. We got a FG and took a 25-23 lead. The Pats got the ball back and then I woke up. I don’t know how the game ended.

Stanger, I am fortunate enough to get to watch the Blue Angels practice from my back yard every week sitting by the pool (usually on Tues/Wed). Only exception is January to March they go to the desert to practice for the upcoming air show season. Sometimes we go out in our kayaks in Pensacola Bay or one of the bayou’s and watch practice from a small sandy island near the base. Never get tired of seeing them.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

It was pretty cool to see…. even if obviously you’ve seen a lot more. They kept circling around and doing “show off’s” at each major hospital down this way. I was lucky enough to be near one for the view — same reason my power comes back first after a storm. Same power grid.

Can count me on that list, and i really haven’t had him go after me, dont know why i was spared, maybe i was too insignificant for him to bother with, but i saw what he said and he particularly went after Tim pretty hard. I dont know if he is an alter ego of someone else who still resides here, but again, i thinkenough transpired that he definitely wore out his welcome. His input wasnt constructive so its like a point at which you start to add up the pluses and minuses, he is deep in the negative. Im glad he is gone and if he is still around in some capacity, then i say, keep to your day job and dont let it be known who you really are becuse it wont do you any good to expose yourself at this point. Couple of blurbs on the news caught my eye. #1–Coronovirus daily tally has gone UP 40% in the days since Georgia “opened up for business.” Wonder if “Opening Up” is worth doubling the death rate?? An acquaintance of mine from Atlanta commented “Opening up” is guaranteed to lower the number of unemployment applications. We all have our priorities, I guess.
    —————–
#2 blurb in the news comes out of Buckeyeville, AKA Columbus, Ohio. ESPN is reporting that Ohio State has offered to pay a group of athletes $41 million to settle abuse claims by an Ohio State team doctor. Personally, I’d like to see the team of drill sergeants I had in basic training take care of this “doctor.” For many years, Ohio State’s position on this issue has been to “deny, deny, deny.” ——-kinda like the Catholic Church’s position, too. Well someone in the Ohio State hierarchy saw how many BILLIONS of dollars the church has had to pay, world wide, and decided to settle now for $41 million in penalties. I’m REAL SURE we haven’t heard the last of this ULTRA DIRTY STORY!!

Its come to the time we should just open everything up. If you’re in the group that’s at risk, then you have to be more cautious. People need to decide for themselves. Why leave your fate in the hands of the govt that’s playing politics?

I believe I’ve had it, or at least been a carrier, but asymptomatic. I believe the real death rate is .5%, meaning 10 times the amount that’s been reported for cases.

We shouldn’t keep the country shut down to protect the 2% that are at risk, let them quarantine themselves. Is it right for the healthy starving family to have to suffer?

This is America, home of the free.

    JMO of course

To be clear steveccnv, nothing prevents you from getting COVID. However, PPE which include masks, helps from getting it. Why do you think it’s worn? I doubt health care workers are thinking I’m wearing PPE for the patient. It’s both. Masks help both ways, but the efficacy is probably best in the spreading vs the receiving.

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

….best spreading amongst ourselves. But, certainly, best from not getting it if you are on frontline. It’s transmitted by air and touch.

Many people we deal with work under the table and I am not just talking about dealers. We wear masks and sanitize desks after every customer. Wear masks and gloves when arresting someone. Also made plexiglass barriers for desks. Almost seems business as usual for many businesses around Pensacola all ready with the exception of restaurants (not counting fast food), bars, bowling alleys, movie theaters, shopping malls, etc. Everyone else seems to be back at work and been like that for weeks. I feel it is time to open the rest up to at least 50% capacity.

  70. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Making a comment about the disrespect the admin showed when visiting the Mayo is an observation and judgement on one’s very specific action. Is it an observation of hate? Raw numbers by country are facts. If you want to look at the numbers regionally sans China, fine. Then, don’t defend an asshole that says the U.S. has done more testing (based on a raw number) than the rest of the world vs assessing it on a per capita basis. When one does that, one sounds as stupid as the president.

Using factual data that is not manipulated is not supporting hate. Did you know electrons are a negatively charged atomic particle? So telling. And, so were all the comments that followed that truly had nothing to do with the observation made about a visit to the Mayo Clinic.

I wonder why other countries or regions have greater numbers/rates of getting COVID and have higher death rates. I wonder if getting it first without knowing it was even around had anything to do with that? China knew and lied. I don’t remember reading Italy, Spain, UK getting advance warning. Oh yeah, Johnson shook hands with COVID patients and almost died. Ooops.

I really don’t care if 40K people came in after the China ban were Americans or not. Was every one of these 40K quarantined, tested, and traced once allowed in? Maybe, and if so, then fine. If not, it’s bullshit. This is not an American or Chinese disease, it’s a virus that has no boundaries.
Speaking of boundaries, the brilliance of Trump was especially on display with the China ban while allowing Europeans to flood the eastern portion of this country. Hello NY, fuck you NY. Just brilliant. Thank god we have a president looking out for everyone.

Just for some edification on the timeline, and yes, I stole this from a broadcast:

January 22, Trump quote, “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

January 30, “We think we have it very well under control.”

February 10 at a rally, “By April, you know in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away.”

February 14, “When it gets warm, historically, that’s been able to kill the virus that’s around the corner. So that’s a great thing.”

February 19, “The numbers are going to get progressively better as we go along.”

February 25, “Go 6 months or 3 months and no one would have ever predicted.”

February 26, “When you have 15 people, and the 15, within a couple of days is gonna be down close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”

February 28, “They say oh he should do more. There’s nothing more you can do. We haven’t seen an increase and people are getting better. Almost everybody that we see is getting better. And, it could be everybody, too.”

February 28 at another rally, “The Democrats are politicizing the Corona virus. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa. They tried the impeachment hoax. And, this is their new hoax. But, you know, we did something that’s been pretty amazing. There’s 15 people in this massive country. The press is in hysteria mode. CNN, fake news, and their camera just went off.”

February 29, “Unfortunately, one person passed away overnight. Since the early stages of the foreign outbreak, my administration, has taken the most aggressive action in modern history that really turned out to be a life saver in a sense. A big life saver.”

March 4, “Some people will have this at a very light level and won’t even go to a doctor or a hospital. They’ll get better.”

March 6, “Anybody that needs a test (while visiting the CDC lab) gets a test. They’re there. They have the tests. And, the tests are beautiful. The tests are all perfect. The transcription was perfect.”

March 10, “We’re doing a great job with it. And, it will go away.”

March 12, “Because of what I did, and what the administration did with China, we have 32 deaths at this point. Other countries, that are smaller countries, have many, many deaths.”

March 15, “It’s a very contagious virus. it’s incredible. But, it’s something we have tremendous control over.”

March 16, “Are you talking about the virus? No, that’s not under control for any place in the world. I think I read, I think I read, no I didn’t, I was talking about what we’re doing as under control, but I’m not talking about the virus.”

March 17, “I’ve always known, this is a, this is a real, this is a pandemic. I’ve felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.”

March 18, “We have very great approval numbers. I mean, people like the job that we’re doing.”

March 19, “The only thing we weren’t prepared for, was the media. The media has not treated it fairly.”

March 20 to a question about what do you say to Americans who are scared. “I say that you’re a terrible reporter. That’s what I say. I think it’s a very nasty question. I’ve been right a lot. Let’s see what happens.”

March 23, in an interview when questioned about what Trump said at the CDC about the “tests were perfect.” By the way, the tests failed. Trumps quote, “What I said was perfect was my conversation with the head of Ukraine. That’s what I really said was perfect. Another whole scandal, nonsense. A total, you know, witch hunt….but, nobody every expected a thing like this.”

March 26, “We gotta get back to work. I think we can start by opening up certain parts of the country.”

March 29, “On Easter, we’re probably, well that could be a peak, that could be the peak, period. That could be the peak, sadly to say, the peak number of deaths before it starts coming down.”

March 31, “This is going to be gone. It’ll be gone. Hopefully, for a long time.”

April 4, “What do you have to lose? I’ll say it again, what do you have to lose? Take it. I really think they should take it. Hyroxychloroquine. Try it, if you like it.”

April 5, “Did anyone in this room think a thing like this could happen? But, it happened. They don’t have to appreciate me at all. I don’t care about me.”

April 6, “I wish you’d ask the question differently. What don’t you say, it’s gotten off to a tremendous start (PPP), but there are some little glitches which by the way have been worked out. I wish we had a fair media in this country and we really don’t.” “Speaking of unfair,” pointing to a reporting, “go ahead.”

April 10, pointing to his head, “the metric’s right here. That’s my metrics, that’s all I can do. There’s always a risk. This is a genius that we’re fighting. We’re fighting this hidden enemy which is genius, ok. It’s genius. The way it’s attacked so many countries.”

April 13, “All I’m saying is this, how do you close down the greatest economy in the history of the world when on January 17th you have no cases and no death? When on January 21st, you have one case and no death. One case, think of that. What we inherited from the previous administration was totally broken. We inherited broken testing. Now we have great testing. (My only comment in all of this: How does the previous admin get blamed for testing a virus that didn’t exist? Answer: because that’s what this administration does.)

April 14, “Like today, I’m instructing my administration to halt funding of the World Health Organization.”

April 16, “I was angry, because it should have been told to us. It should have been told to us early. It should have been told to us a lot sooner. People knew it was happening and people didn’t want to talk about it.”

April 19, “The head of a country doesn’t have to say, stay in. These people are smart people. Nobody ever thought this could have happened, a thing like this……. We inherited a lot of garbage. We took, they had tests that were no good. They had, all of this stuff was no good.”

April 23, “It may not come back at all, Jeff. It may not come back, at all.”

April 23, Fauci says, “We will have coronavirus in the fall. I am convinced of that.”

April 23, Trump says, “Right and then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And, is there a way we can do something like that? By injection inside, or, or almost a cleaning? Cause you see it gets in the lungs and does a tremendous number on the lungs. So, it’d be interesting to check that. So that you’re going to have to use medical doctors. But, it sounds interesting to me…..I’m not a doctor. I’m a person that has a good, you know what (pointing to head again).”

There is not one Democrat, liberal, or fake news responsible for the above. These are live (on video) quotes and actions taken by one man. Oh, I know a good reason not believe your eyes or listen to your ears, they’re taken out of context. There are plenty of “alternative fact” followers or FOX (state run) news to discount everything he said, to get everyone to “look over there and or place blame on those that haven’t been in charge for 3 and half years.” This is a typical argument that grown irresponsible adults use when they blame their parents for their adult troubles.

I’ve also left out the insane decision to force meat plants to remain open. I would call these areas wet markets or worse. So, let’s force the spread of this virus by a mechanism that is highly contagious. I guess I didn’t leave it out. LOL.

And, here we are today: over 1.3MM known cases or about one third of the world and 78K dead (will be over 80K this weekend). And the rest of the world had a 2-month head start in infections. I think we will not only catch up using ratios as population measures, but after all is said and done, our country will probably be the most afflicted, including measurements that look at global regions.

I wonder what the numbers would have been if purposeful action would have been taken January through mid-March? After all, the US was provided a blueprint in advance of what was about to happen. Some countries have thwarted their number of cases and deaths from what they could have been. By purposeful, I mean, develop a national distribution system of COVID related supplies, reagents and test kits for adequate and meaningful testing, and human training and tracing mechanisms to thwart the next wave. Brilliant actions taken by this leader, so far, in my opinion (that’s sarcasm, to be clear).

This is leadership? Yay!!!! I would never follow someone as described above even if I loved them.

Personally, I only wear a mask when I have to go inside to a public establishment. I’m all for herd immunity which is where we’re headed. Why couldn’t we have just called it that without all the bullshit lying and incompetence displayed over several months? Or was this the genius mentality of one man, all along?

  74. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

wyo….this is not about politics BUT I can sure see that view point being taken when you criticize the leader for “managing” this pandemic. Is being critical of a coach for calling a bad play during a crucial part of the game political? How is it that calling bad plays (imo) during this pandemic political?

This is what is confusing to me. It seems I have to agree with ALL decision making by the president as PERFECT. Otherwise, it’s political. Can’t I just fucking disagree with him and think he is making poor choices? Is that allowed?

    • Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

      Sure
But all you posted is what he “said”.

He didn’t close the country until it was too late. He didn’t get the China closure right if 40K more entered the country after the ban. Mike E and Tim Knight and Hulk and Piggy are living in a shit-hole right now to quote a leader.

And, his INACTION and words speak to leadership, not politics.

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

And, what he’s said has killed people. People have died from taking hydroxychloroquine. Krishna – I’m not going to address everything you said, but remember, it’s the President along with the rest of the government that run the country. The Democrats were squarely concentrating on the impeachment process in January when this whole thing started heating up. I remember after Trump closed travel from China he was called a racist. I remember Pelosi and Schumer telling people to use the subways (which BTW were cleaned for the first freaking time since this happened about a week ago!!!!!) and to visit Chinatown. Both sides had their heads up their asses about things other than the virus (Dems trying desperately to impeach Trump and Trump desperately defending himself). Regardless of how you think he should have or could have handled it, I don’t think he could have done a lot more. In the end it, it doesn’t matter, there are people who have blind hate for our President and I’m sure you feel like we have blind loyalty. None of that will change, so let’s move on . . . .

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Look over there!!! It’s a plane, it’s a bird, it’s….. Typical blame tactic.

Can we please have a discussion about the leadership of ONE man? Or is that not allowed? Moving on and not blaming everyone else. One president, one man’s decisions that speak to leadership or in my opinion the complete lack of what a leader is all about.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i would assume you’d preferred Hillary?

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

We ARE having that discussion. I already said I think he has handled this fine, about as well as it could have been handled. In areas where the population live on top of each other it’s going to be poor no matter what, and conversely, areas that the population is spread out less so. The lysol/chlorox thing is ridiculous to point out as his fault. Any person that did that deserves whatever they got. He never said people should do it, he asked one of the science experts on his staff if some form of disinfectant could be injected in some way if that could work. He didn’t stand on a podium and profess it. It’s just silly to keep making that into much more than it ever was.

I didn’t say you mentioned them, I’m just pointing out alternatives. I don’t think Hillary, Cuomo, or any of the crop of Dem candidates this election would have/could have handled it better. If you call that not discussing the topic, so be it. If you’re going to say he did a poor job, I could counter that these people wouldn’t have done any better. It’s not misdirection, it’s a comparison, which is always important in a discussion.

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

If you say so, Mike E. Comparing apples and oranges is not a valid comparison in my book. MY ORIGINAL COMMENT had nothing to do with anyone but the present administration’s lack of respect for the Mayo Clinic policy requiring the wearing of mask. Period.

EVERY comment after that was about comparison/alternatives to shit I never brought up.

So, I spoke up and clarified my reasoning about ONE person about the ONE topic I was interested in. You and most everyone else who is not suffering from TDS, managed to make comparisons and choose alternative people to talk about. That’s the definition of being political. I think in politics they call that “pivoting”.
