Miami Dolphins 2020 Schedule

So the schedule is out, and as per usghe, speculation and wild predictions ensue. I’ll be perfectly honest, I have no idea what in the heck to expect from this season, and not just from a Dolphins perspective. Rookies are learning from video chats rather than person to person instruction. As far as that’s concerned, I believe these kids should be fine in that regard, this is how they live their lives, this will not be shocking or difficult for them, they will learn just fine this way. The difficult part will be not physically practicing, because camps won’t open until it’s deemed safe enough for ALL of the 32 teams to be able to open, which is completely fair. This is a league built on parity after all.

This year one of the schedule highlights is playing against the NFC West. That is a rough division, headlined by the SB runner-ups, the SF 49ers. Every team in that division brings a different but similar challenge. The 49ers and Rams are built very much alike, strong defense, and run the ball effectively, don’t ask to much from your QB. The Seahawks have Russell Wilson and despite what plan they have, they always seem to lean on Wilson too much, even with their multi-headed RB attack, which by the way is again similar to the 49ers. The Arizona Cardinals bring a unique challenge with QB Kyler Murray, who is a true dual threat QB. The Cardinals acquired All Pro WR DeAndre Hopkins from the Texans and in the draft, snagged LB Isaiah Simmons, two players who should have a huge impact on their team.

Of course we play our division twice each, and while the Patriots look ready to fall off, you can never count out Bill Belichick, even without Tom Brady. Who knows, maybe Stidham is ready to run that offense more effectively than the nearly 43 YO Brady. The Jets and Bills are both improving and will be looked at to challenge for the AFC East crown. Will we be there with them or they will they be chasing us, or will we once again fail to even hit the .500 mark? I love what we accomplished in free agency with Van Noy, Ogbah, Lawson, Roberts, and our entire draft haul, which was quite good, that’s a whole lot of new pieces moving together. We did what we had to do to fill spots but unfortunately COVID-19 is going to hamper us because we do have so many new people, far more than any other team in our division and likely the entire NFL. We just Chip Foose’d our roster, Overhauled it! With a minimal amount of practice that our players will probably have, that’s unfortunately a huge disadvantage compared to a team that possibly added 3-4 new starters. We could have potentially 10 new starters (Jackson, Flowers, Karras, Hunt, Howard, Lawson, Van Noy, Ogbah, Jones, Igbinoghene, Ferguson), plus add in a big mix of rotation guys that are new as well. If you compare that to a team that has the same moving parts except for a very small few, you have to give them a leg up at least early on in the season due to familiarity.

All I know is, whatever form and whatever length, whether it’s a shortened 14 game season or a full 16 game season, I have never looked forward to watching this team as much as I do this season. I think there might be some growing pains, but I expect a steady improvement as the season moves on. It’s going to be exciting folks, whether Tua starts or not. You all know I don’t think we should rush Tua in, but whatever they decide I’m in 100%. I’m just being cautious, and we have a good situation with Fitzpatrick to be cautious. On the other hand, if there’s not one medical reason to keep Tua off the field and he shows he’s better than Fitz for our team from the get-go, than I’m down! No matter what, there’s a whole lotta guys I’m aching to see in action this season!

GO DOLPHINS!!

It was a chart showing the extreme difference of the death rate between the normal flu and pneumonia and the combination of flu and COVID-19. it was 7.6% last year but rose all the way to 24.8% 4/11/20, but dropped to 14.6% 4/25/20

  4. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

    MikeE
I posted that chart because it shows this year’s flu season versus the previous three flu seasons.

The SPIKE in pnuemonia and flu “deaths” are because these are people not tested for Covid-19. The admin for hospital down the street brings her kids to our clinic, and she has been telling us that for months there have been deaths that they had no verifiable cause … and thus had to list cause as something with “similar” symptoms.

The point is, the Covid-19 death rate is very likely much HIGHER than numbers reported simply because of the cases without ‘verified cause’ that did not get tested for Covid-19.

So, for all those wanting to “get out there”… just be careful.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That’s odd because I’ve heard the opposite. I’ve that hospitals are reporting nearly all deaths as COVID-19 because then they get more funding. In other words a person gets struck by lightning and dies, he died of COVID-19. I don’t even know where to check a reliable source, because I’m not really sure if there is one.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I’m with you Mike, it’s hard to know the correct stats, and partly why I stopped following the numbers.

As with anything the numbers are only going to show what they want you to see.

Enough of the games already, just open everything back up, including sporting events with fans.

Tua signed, so 1/4 of his signing bonus or 4.9M + rookie salary of 610K = 5.5M cap hit. That’s slightly higher than what I figured, but QBs usually make a little more.

That’s not really a lot. He’s known to be a top STs guy and quality backup LB.

If you notice our offseason was about upgrading all 3 phases of the game with a heavy focus on STs.

  9. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Rhino, thanks for trying to put that out. I was trying to figure that out this past weekend. I was running in circles a bit and the numbers I came up with left me feeling that COVID-19 was nastier than flu but might not have a much higher morbidity and that we should get back to normal. If those numbers are higher, which I can believe, then the research I did was kind of a waste of time. I was using #’s by the FL Dept. of Health and if the reporting is off, well… Doesn’t matter cause I was bored at work. LOL I just want to be safe cause when we are arresting someone, we don’t have time to take their temperature.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

BBM — what you should be worried about is that Covid is highly communicable , much more so than the regular flu. So that goes into your job. What happens when you get it is all over the spectrum from don’t know it to you die. Overall morbidity is higher than flu, but mainly cause hits the real older folks bad.

The extra money hospitals might receive from treating COVID or COVID related deaths is a small drop in the bucket of the money these hospitals are losing right now on elective surgeries and minor procedures. When weighed against the liability the hospitals could incur for falsifying mortality coding in large numbers, it is likely this is not happening on any kind of scale to skew the numbers.

It is possible this might be happening, but there is nothing to back up the speculation it is rampant, i.e. the occasional hospital may upcode on a large scale or some unknown cause deaths may get coded as COVID, but the idea it is a systemic, large scale problem is currently baseless.

That doesn’t stop the media from reporting it in such a way that a lot of people just think this is the truth now (especially when confirmation bias is at play). It’s a case of shoddy reporting getting blown up to truth without evidence. Like pretty much all reporting nowadays, it’s sensationalism fueling speculation over just reporting the damned facts.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

You come in with serious Covid-like symptoms…. you get tested. And that goes in the medical files. If death reports get popped up will be by deaths at home.

  12. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’ll tell you where I think hospitals are making money back as best they can. My mother was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks ago and had to have emergency surgery to remove a tumor. She was just released yesterday. She received the best care possible (Kaiser system), they attended to her every need, she had her own room the entire time, nurses waited on her hand and foot. They can upcharge on all this stuff, and it isn’t fraud.

It was frustrating not to be able to see her while she was there, but to hear she felt like she was treated to the best care possible mitigated that frustration somewhat. We felt they kept here a few days longer than may have been necessary, but all things considered it’s worth it.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

The American Cancer Society regulates itself, that’s all you need to know.

My ex wife was a nurse at county USC in L.A., then went to Kaiser for a year and hated it, because the doctors didn’t give a crap about the patients, and she couldn’t tell them off with them being part owners, so she went back to county, where the nurses and doctors didn’t care. She did mention the nurses provided better care at Kaiser.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’m not big on Kaiser. A couple of years ago, I lost an uncle who was treated by Kaiser. We all felt his care was pretty awful. Hearing my mom talk about her care, it was night and day.

    • D's avatar D says:

Hospitals dont make money off us, they make money off insurance and medicaid re-reimbursements. I’m sure right now there is very little denial going on by insurance companies due to the stigma that would be seen if it came to ligth they were doing that.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

A few years ago I moved into this industry. Part of my job entails dealing with claims by companies that advocate for patients so hospitals get paid (such as MedData). It comes down to patient treatment and insurance. Without the patient, the hospital doesn’t get paid. Sometimes, even with the patient, the hospital doesn’t get paid, lol.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

And keeping a patient even a couple extra days gets the hospital paid.

  13. D's avatar D says:

We have now spent a week under the 30k mark, i think like 28k was aour highest, that thats good, but im scared that we are gonna psike back up if people go buck wild after the opening. I think 2-3 more weeks under quarantine would be best, because we seem to finally be making progress.

2 main money makes in a hospital is Lab and Radiology, being attached to radiology i can tell you the number of radiological studies are at an all time low, though lab is up a little. So hospital are making it, but they had to cut some staff and make adjustments too.

It’s incredibly hard on hospitals right now especially in rural areas where Covid didn’t do much but they had to prepare anyway. Instead of giving people extra money to sit at home, they probably should have ensured the people that still have to deal with this are getting some extra funding. That doesn’t bring in extra welfare votes though.

  21. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Stang,

You mentioned up the page about the possibility of home deaths being mis-coded as COVID. My son does body removal in the Nor Cal area. His company is contracted by hundreds of assisted living communities, LTC facilities, hospitals, and mortuaries. If there is even the possibility of COVID he has to wear a full hazmat suit for removal or transport and the body is tested.

I’m not sure how they could code it COVID death when a test comes back negative unless it is flat out fraud. And for home deaths, nobody benefits (that I know of) so I’m not sure why that would happen. Of course this is just one small area of the country. I have no idea how things work in your neck of the woods.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

That’s not the issue, the issue is counting deaths as covid-19, for those that tested positive and might even be asymptomatic, whether the cause of death was related to it or not.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

So an elderly person dies of a heart attack and happens to have COVID, but also is asymptomatic, and then the cause of death is reported as COVID. You think it is possible that happens a lot? Wouldn’t logic dictate that is much more likely to be the occasional outlier instead of commonplace?

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Reason brought up was cause in some places they have gone back and reclassifying past deaths as Covid based on symptoms. But my main point was not gonna happen in a hospital.

Only partially related, but back in the day in my own small neck of the woods was involved in a lawsuit brought by a woman who before had the body removal contract for our county. She had no case, but since we knew that brought a real harsh countersuit based on how much more we paid cause she backed out. That was my side of it — and I had her nailed with data and charts and such.

Judge couldn’t have cared less, dismissing the countersuit as “unspecified.” Month later I’m in the judge’s office with my lead attorney and he goes “did you guys really think I was gonna let you take all that money from that sweet little old black woman?” Justice ain’t always blind.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I understand where you’re coming from and we’re in agreement about hospitals. In regards to home deaths, I hadn’t even really considered the issue until you brought it up. So I’m just kind of talking it out logically. I don’t have a hard opinion on it.

Love the judge story, lol. If I ever do come out to a fest, I think we’ll have fun swapping stories. I hope it happens one of these seasons. 🙂

Speaking of North Cal and hospitals, we have a new install going into a small hospital in a town called Weaverville ever heard of it?

Of course, I know a guy named Curtis, who is from there.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Ugh, Weaverville. At 19 I got stuck in a cabin there with food poisoning for 4 days. Went with a friend to visit his parents, got some bad porkchops, AND my buddies car broke down. After a few days of puking my guts out, I called another buddy to drive up from Sac and pick me up. Never been back, lol.

  23. D's avatar D says:

You can tell that town is a old gold rush town, the main street in the town look like all the old west towns through Kansas and Oklahoma, etc. One of the pluses of working in the industry i am in is you get to see these little Americana town and really start to piece together how this nation is/was formed. 26. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Steve,

As we’re talking about it, I still personally don’t think COVID deaths are being mis-coded on a large scale in any of the scenarios we’ve discussed so far today. But I do agree with you about not knowing what the stats are, and I also agree that the mortality percentage is almost certainly skewed.

It’s a fact that a number of people that get COVID show little or no symptoms. Without testing on a massive scale of general populace, we don’t know what that percentage is. The number of cases is probably much higher than we have recorded which of course would lower the mortality rate.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

These stats are all BS. We’ll never know the real numbers. I believe the mortality rate is very similar to the flu. What difference does it make, if its .5% or 5%? I dont think that distinction changes how its handled or people feel about it.

If you told someone that believes the 5% number, that it’s really .5%, I’m pretty sure their opinion wouldn’t change.

The main differences from the flu are the rate its spread and the damage it does to the vulnerable, but to the 90%+ it might as well be the flu, a little more brutal to some, but…

  27. D's avatar D says:

Speaking of mortality, we just crossed the 80k death mark. As a point of reference most the parks at Disney World shut down significantly before 80K people, so imagine the busiest day you have ever seen at Disney World, and then imagines all of them dead and its still more than that.

  28. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

    MikeE and Steve,
the deaths that could not be confirmed are from January and February here in Texas. Chinese pipe company in town with dozens of executives traveling back and forth every two weeks as late as early March. So these unconfirmed deaths for “flu season” are actually before there was an economic incentive.

  29. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

One last item on Covid19 … which will clarify my point.

At least here in Corpus Christi, medical field is convinced it was rampant from late January to end of February! Weekly, 100’s of patients with flu symptoms with negative flu tests that caused most clinics to contact vendors about possible flu test recalls we hadn’t heard about.
We had an M.A. (who has severe asthma) who “got the flu” the first week of February. She ended up in the hospital. She was tested 4 times for flu (all negative), was give a virus panel testing for 40 known viruses (all negative). When they released her the diagnosis was “unknown respiratory infection”. It wasn’t until almost 3 weeks later that the patterns started to make sense.

Another symptom showing up in kids is ‘pink eye’. We went from roughly 5 cases a day (Dec) to 25+ cases a day starting in early Feb.

Our county as one of the lowest tests per capita in the country. Even today we have to refer persons of interest to the health department and despite symptoms they are told to come back to our clinic. First week of March our county had the capacity to test 8 people a day. That’s it.

Not sure what to do with this information. But by the end of February when people started paying attention, there were probably thousands of cases in our city. Weird thing is, our city never really “shut down”. It was basically a ‘volunteer’ thing for each business.

Conclusion: I’m keeping my ass out of public places as long as I can. 🙂

Rhino – That’s pretty surprising that the M.A. you mentioned had asthma and didn’t end up on a respirator. Seems like at least half of the people who end up in the hospital do, so you would think someone with asthma must have been having sever respiratory issues is they had COVID-19

  32. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Ok Tim I’ll change the subject.

On Saturday morning I went down to the nursery to get a tree, when I started my car to leave I got a message saying immobility see owners manual. Kong,

According to the CDC, there has been a lot of misrepresentation of Covid deaths. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/index.htm

That shows about 47% of the attributed deaths died from other causes while having Covid.

    https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/2020/04/10/hhs-to-begin-immediate-delivery-of-initial-30-billion-of-cares-act-provider-relief-funding.html

The CARES Act will eventually provide extra funding specifically to the hardest hit areas. It’s just like the census or any other federal funding package. The more people, cases, etc you have…the more money you get.

by the way… people don’t “die of influenza” either, but from other complications that having the flu triggered. The cardiovascular deaths is actually a big concern for those on respirators… it doesn’t just stay in the lungs.
These “causes of death” when attributed to Covid19 means that the condition wasn’t life threatening until contracting Covid19.

  37. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

There is still far more that we don’t know about the virus than what we do know. But we can’t shut down our economy and our way of life while we figure it out. The virus can kill you. So can many other things. Or you can let fear (not caution) prevail and stop living. Just a different kind of dead.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I completely agree and have said that from the beginning. What we are doing right now is not sustainable. I think high risk communities such as LTC or assisted living should be on lockdown, high risk individuals should take extra steps to protect themselves, and precautions such as social distancing should be kept in effect.

Of course, I’m not in a high risk category, and with the exception of my mom, most of my immediate family aren’t either, so it’s easy for me to feel that way, lol.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I meant to add “but we should reopen our business and economy” after ‘effect’

  38. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Newage,

Most COVID deaths are from complications such as pneumonia, so of course you’re going to see a high percentage of cases with other causes as a factor. As for excess deaths, that is just observed deaths vs projected deaths, so a non-starter since this is all virgin territory.

I didn’t want to take the time to truly get into the minutiae of that chart, so I’ll take your word that 47% of COVID cases died from other complications like pneumonia, but if we’re being honest, I would expect that number to be a hell of lot higher actually. Most people die from the complications.

The majority of the data used in the provisional death count is collected from NVSS which gets the majority of their data from hospitals. That isn’t misrepresentation. It’s coming directly from the source. Now how those numbers stack up in comparison to the media numbers etc, I won’t argue that there isn’t misrepresentation there.

Your second link briefly outlines the CARES Act. According to your link it is used for healthcare expenses and lost revenue (not COVID deaths) and the payments are based on 2019 FFS numbers.

    From the article:
“The $100 billion of funding will be used to support healthcare-related expenses or lost revenue attributable to coronavirus and to ensure uninsured Americans can get the testing and treatment they need without receiving a surprise bill from a provider. The initial $30 billion in immediate relief funds will begin being delivered to providers today.”

“Facilities and providers are allotted a portion of the $30 billion based on their share of 2019 Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) reimbursements. These are payments, not loans, to healthcare providers, and will not need to be repaid.”

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

      Kong,

Medicare FFS is the primary form of payment for the people most affected, the elderly. These payments will directly be attributed to the areas most hit by Covid.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’m just going by what you had linked. I haven’t studied this act beyond that. The article states they are allotting payment amount using Medicare FFS numbers from 2019.

I would assume that means they are using a formula that grants an amount based strictly on that 2019 number or they are comparing 2019 revenue to the 2020 and calculating the losses incurred. So number of COVID deaths in’t a factor in the amount of the payment.

How they determine which hospitals will receive payments, the article reports “…healthcare-related expenses or lost revenue attributable to coronavirus…”. I don’t see anything in that statement that says COVID deaths are a big factor in qualifying. I see that as hospitals economically impacted due to us shutting the whole dang country down.

At pp’s request, to clarify my early AM comment.

All White House personnel is tested every day, I think. At least, Pence is according to Pence. Two people in daily contact amongst WH personnel have tested positive for COVID. I believe a chauffer/driver for WH staff and a Pence aide, Steve Miller’s (white nationalist) wife.

Trump states that one day the aide didn’t have it and the next day she did. He couldn’t understand how that might happen and pointed out how dangerous and invisible it is. There is video of her amongst a crowd that are all wearing masks and she is not.

As a matter of fact and on public display, none of the WH officials, especially senior officials, have been wearing masks. Pence did not wear a mask to the Mayo Clinic and said he gets tested every day therefore he didn’t need a mask.

Trump is also on video saying that even though his staff gets tested, they still got it, so how does testing help. His reasoning/justification as why testing is NOT important and why he never deemed it important from the beginning.

Two points I was trying to make. One, why is the president surprised one day you don’t have it, then, the next day you do? Does the WH policy of not wearing masks make that more risky? I don’t know, the policy he issues to the American public contradicts WH practice/action/example. I would argue not wearing masks in the west wing is problematic. Period, not political. It’s also stupid, JMO.

Second point is about testing. Why does Trump question the efficacy and importance of testing or that it’s really not valuable? Hmmmm…..without finding out these people HAD it in the WH through TESTING, then, tracing and isolating them, how many people would have been infected after the weekend and into this week in the west wing? DUH? So why is testing not valuable?

That’s what I was trying to say without getting all wordy. LOL.

And, to be honest, I’m tired and just need to shut it down and drink.

Thanks. I haven’t seen the clips or reporting to which you are referring. I think only the President and the VP are tested daily and haven’t seen anything where they questioned the value of testing. The direction of the slant depends on the source.

    Jake Ruddock 750K
    Michael Robert’s 750K
    James Crawfor 750K
    Ryan Lewis 750K

These guys are all possibly going to make it:

    Weaver 687K
    Preston 678K
    Laird 678K
    Needham 675K
    Ferguson 658K

We still have some wiggle room with the cap. With the Tua signing yesterday 5.5M cap and about a wash with the Wilson restructure we’re at 23.862M over the cap. Once the rest of the rookies sign and the 13 contracts above are off the team (cut down day) and the 7 above not currently counting against the cap are on the 53 we should be a little over 20M over the cap. Much more than the 5-8M I’ve been hearing from Bozos like DouglieDoWrong.

With no more significant signings we’re looking pretty good for 2021 FA.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

If kept on PUP when the season starts his 1M would count against the cap, in addition to the 53 other players. Not a big deal capwise, but they’ll need to see some improvement in his health soon I’d think.

  68. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,
That’s possible as Davis is a vet. But, I expect this to be a major weeding out year for the OL. I also think we don’t have our starting 5 for the future yet. • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We’d like to think we were set for the future, but I think you’re right.

In the past we’ve needed 2 or 3 OK starters and we’d sign exactly that many, but mostly backups, then when they all don’t pan out we’d be stuck.

This team seems to be going the overkill version.

Next year do we resign Karras? Will we know if the rookie OL guys are part of the future?

In his career, Frazier has amassed 67 total tackles, a sack, forced a fumble and made four tackles for loss on 461 career defensive snaps.

The prototypically-built safety made his mark on the Cowboys special teams’ units. At six feet, 220 pounds, Frazier’s NFL.com scouting report – coming from Central Michigan University – praised the broad, muscular build of Miami’s newest defensive back.

Earth to dumbass, they aren’t the same type of QBs, Fitz is built to handle the pressure, Rosen has other strengths that are nullified, because of the pressure.

      https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/alabama-football/tua-tagovailoas-father-explains-alabama-quarterback-left-handed/

      From the article:

However, Tagovailoa wasn’t always a southpaw, according to an AL.com report. In fact, Tua’s father, Galu — himself a left-handed thrower — turned his son into a lefty simply so he wouldn’t be the family’s only left-hander:

“I just always wanted someone to be a lefty with me. … It just became fluent and he just grew into it,” Galu Tagovailoa said. “That’s the crazy part about it. I never thought I could make him adapt to that. As we constantly kept putting the ball on his left hand, eventually he grew into throwing the ball with his left.”

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That and there’s just too many bodies. You want to try and give the guys a chance to show something, and with less time to do that, adding more bodies to me seems counterproductive to that end.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I’d be surprised too, but would not be disappointed. Warford is a stud and has 3-4 good years left in him. Plus a lot of our draft picks are a bit raw. • D's avatar D says:

An option they could have is a one year show me contract. These are all the rage now where players take a whatever keeps me paid contract, so they can take a shot at really getting paid next year. In that case its low to no risk, so i could see it, it basically gets us through a shaky time, because we do have a lot of nubile on the OL. Might be nice to have a vet for a rental.

    ——————————————–

“Warford was repeatedly beaten in pass protection, especially by more athletic defensive linemen.”

“Warford’s pass blocking deteriorated down the stretch of the year but his run blocking remained stellar at the point of attack. One area he struggled with however was getting outside when asked to pull around the edge or getting to the spot in a timely manner on screen passes, an enormous part of the Saints offense. Warford has never been a top of the line athlete, but his weight and conditioning were both issues with the coaching staff last year.”

I think you do your due diligence on Warford just like any guy. He’s always been a heavy-footed, bigger guy who can’t move much. We want our guards to be like Saint’s guards, so you never know. Do they see an added benefit in that he can show the youngsters what to do? It’s not as if we signed or drafted a surefire day one starter at guard. Warford is probably an upgrade in talent even with his limitations. May just be a matter of money.

It just makes sense for him to have the biggest impact early

Everyone else might need a little more time to develop. I’m not ruling out any rooks having an impact now, I bet the long snapper gets plenty of snaps…lol

But I remember seeing RBs get to the edge against our D a lot and I think we missed what both Minkah did and what reshad Jones did, and I think Jones might be able to do that right away for us

The other one that might have an immediate impact is your guy Davis

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Davis will play NT, DT and 3-4 DE. He’s an interior player that is hard to handle. 6-6 310+ with pretty good athletic ability. I think Davis, Igbinoghene and Jones will all play 20+ snaps per game on defense. Weaver and Strowbridge will probably have to work their way up. We’ll see.

Watched all of Tua’s TDs last night, and a breakdown of some of the things he does at a high level. During live games they always talked about the way he uses his eyes to move the D, its the difference between Tannehill and a great QB. His pocket presence and accuracy are also top notch.

This isn’t anything new, just wanted to point out some of the reasons our O was stagnant at times in the last 10 years and had trouble converting on 3rd and long (sans last year).

I haven’t paid attention close enough to Fitz playing the eye games, but his pocket presence is really good too. His accuracy is good enough, his problem is the ints.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

I always felt Tannehill’s tendencies were too easy to read and defenses could confuse him more than some other QBs. Tua will be the one controlling defenses instead of defenses controlling him hopefully.

I want to see how Fitz does with better protection. I’m not sure if the ints were trying to do too much with too little (Im sure some of it was), or just bad decisions that led to frustration and more bad decisions. He’s talented and smart but we’ll see how he does.

For the rest Jones would be the next important one to start, the rest should be brought in, in packages. Kindley would be the one least likely to see scrimmage snaps, but the rest should see the field, with snap counts depending on performance.

I expect Davis to see the field a lot, and even more depending on how the game flows and opponent.

Rookie RBs, WRs, LBs, QBs and OL that aren’t the man seem to have the most trouble trying to get on the field. Secondary can come in, in Nickel or Dime, DL is always subbing guys in.

Yeah but Jackson and Hunt are really getting a chance to start bc or lack of competition

If they do start, I don’t expect it to be smooth

Im not trying to 💩 on them but Jackson spefically needs a little work

Jones and Davis might appear productive out of the gate

I actually wouldn’t mind if they sit the OL draftees for a little while even if that means playing guys from last year

We will probably see a big impact from Baeda too of you want to count him as a newcomer
