This is easily the strangest opening to a season that I can remember. I don’t recall knowing this little about our team at this point of the season, just 3 days before our season opener. What I do know is our team is a very young team, 2 of the young ones pictured will likely determine our success or demise this Sunday. Rookie starting LT Austin Jackson is getting his first start of hopefully a very long successful career but it will be difficult task going up against a Bill Belichick team. It doesn’t matter what the names are on the New England defense, he will disguise and confuse even the savviest OL, so both Austin Jackson (LT) and big Solomon Kindley (RG) will have to be on point. If you were to subtract the age of our starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, we’re trotting out a very young team. Jackson (21), Flowers (26), Karras (27), Kindley (23) and Davis, the elder statesman at 29. Devante Parker (27), Preston Williams (23), Jakeem Grant (27), Mike Gesicki (24), Durham Smythe (25), Jordan Howard (25) and Chandler Cox (24). The average of the 12 listed (including both TE Durham Smythe and FB Chandler Cox) is 25 years old. Throw in these important factors, very little practice time, no preseason games, a lot of new faces put together, facing a seasoned master in Bill Belichick and there is a chance that many things can go wrong. On the other hand, I think Flores will have our team prepared and I do believe we can see success against the Patriots this Sunday.
That was just our offense, our defense is quite young as well. I’ll spare you the lists with ages but the average age is 25.5 years old. LB Kyle Van Noy is the elder at 30 on the defense. The depth is really young as well, on both sides. It’s a great start in year 1 of the rebuild, it really is. Yes, it was disappointing to jettison Raekwon McMillan who no longer fit our needs because we’ve been doing this for a long time, drafting talent, changing schemes and then purging the talent that doesn’t fit. Hopefully with Flores and Grier we’re done with that cycle. Picking up WR/RB/QB Lynn Bowden from the Raiders make me think we’re not going to be the 1 WR, 2 TE rushing attack a lot of the time. I think we’re looking for playmakers all over the place and in today’s NFL, that’s wise. You have to score to keep up. Nothing like being able to run a game out but you have to be up in order to do that. You can’t stop the best teams from scoring, that’s a fact. You have to be able to keep up. I don’t really know what to expect from our defense. I know we have really shored up the back end with a quality secondary by adding Byron Jones to Xavien Howard for s shutdown duo of CB’s and a fine young rookie NB in Noah Igbinoghene. Bobby McCain will be the centerfielder while Eric Rowe will likely be closer to the LOS. What will be interesting to see how we use the LB’s and DL and in what combinations. Baker and Roberts will patrol the middle with Ogbah and Van Noy on the outside. Of course there will be various formations and Lawson and Strowbridge and Van Ginkel will be a part of. Looking forward to seeing all the pieces in play and even if we’re not successful this Sunday, at least hoping we see signs that things are going to be better.
I look forward to seeing DeVante Parker starting strong and seeing Preston Williams all the way back from injury. Can Jakeem Grant hold off the competition for slot play from Mack Hollins, Malcolm Perry and Lynn Bowden? Will we actually be able to run the ball effectively? Will our young OL be able to pass protect for Ryan Fitzpatrick or will he be running for his life as he did last season. Will our front 7 be able to generate a pass rush for a change? Will the three headed CB combo of Howard, Jones and Iggy be one of the NFL’s best? Can Rowe make the switch to safety and is Bobby Mac ready to resume his role of safety and stay healthy? A lot of questions loom, as the even bigger question that is silent at the moment, but you know when does Tua play is lurking not so stealthily in the shadows. It’s there, because as soon as Fitz has his bad day, it will rear it’s ugly head and be right there in the forefront. For now at least, it hides.
Keep in mind that Bill Belichick desperately wants to answer the question “Was it Belichick or Brady” with a resounding Belichick! Tom Brady, sickeningly so has been anointed NFC MVP and is already in the fucking Superbowl against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. It’s disgusting! I guess the NFL needs a storyline and now instead of seeing New England Patriots 24/7 it’s the freaking Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Brady every second. I think Brady has the better chance to succeed with all that talent on the roster but never count the master Belichick out. True, he won’t have his stalwart QB Brady running the offense anymore and I’m not much of a Cam fan, I think he’s been one of the most overrated QB’s in the game. I don’t think he deserves a marquis, he’s a JAG. If he’s healthy, he’s a threat to run and I think that’s where he’s most dangerous to the opposition. If he’s back there slinging it, I think he’s more dangerous to his own team. It’s going to be fun watching this game, so many angles to come together to make this game a must watch.
GO DOLPHINS!!

good news
I think the Texans are a lot like us and could go either way on the downside maybe 6-10 and on the up maybe 10-6, so a 8-8 record seems pretty appropriate to me.
How did Houston look last night. I know they gave up points, but that’s expected. David Johnson looked back to his old self? I didn’t watch more than a couple of minutes.
See my post above, they don’t look like they’ll be getting us the top pick😉
Gotcha
Bars are opening back up to 50% capacity here Monday! Boss has me filling trash bags full of beer koozies and coasters to deliver to a bunch of them. Got 20 of 50 done so far. They are some of our best advertising. He orders 10K at a time. They pay for themselves and then some. Can’t count how many bonds I have gotten cause someone remembered getting one a year ago, still have it and need a bondsman. lol
do Fmers, especially Right Fmers get free bail?
Do you have a current need for it😉
I may if i hang around here much longer!
Lol
That is some smart marketing. It’s funny, but it’s brilliantly targeted.
D said, “I think their receivers aren’t physical enough”
———————————————————————-
I read that and immediately thought of Kenny Stills. I think he had 2 targets and both were drops. You are welcome Houston and I think you have a problem. lol
Lol
Yeah, the draft board I use has us picking 9 and Houston at 12. I guess that may be in the 6-10 to 7-9 range. I hope we pick later.
32
Wouldn’t that be some shit? On the way to work on NFL radio both hosts picked the Patriots for Sunday
Of course they did. Most people believe the success is mostly Belichick and i guess once you get use to jerking off to one porn that never let you down in the past its a hard habit to break.
Trump wants to pull our people out of the middle east,
this is appalling to the hard left as the weapon makers can no longer make money from the sale of weapons and in turn the corrupt hard left will not get paid either.
The hard left has no problem sending our troops in harms way if it greases their pocket.
What they need to realize is once we have our stockpiles they don’t stop buying bullets and bombs. When I was with a Marine Artillery Battalion in the 80’s we were still trying to get rid of thousands of tons of munitions left over from Vietnam. We would get fire mission’s, “Battery 4 rounds”, that’s 8 howitzers firing 4 rounds each. It would go on all day and night at times. They get rid of the old stock piles so they can buy new shit. Less war means more good training with live fire and they will keep buying. The higher up’s at the Pentagon who are in the pockets of the bomb makers will make sure of it IMO.
I know this first hand. When I was stationed at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Beaufort, SC, military personnel got to sign up to be paid caddies for the executives who pay to play in the Pro-Am Tournament during the practice week at the Heritage Tournament in Hilton Head. I did it every year I was there. You had a team of 4 executives and one pro golfer. One year I caddied with a team of executives from a machine gun company out of NC. Their 4th player was a 2 star general from the Pentagon. He told us he paid his own way but we knew better. We didn’t care.
Orob, the pro with the team that year was Jeff Sluman. I missed, by one spot in line, being with the group who played with Payne Stewart and that was the year he died. Another year was with Bob Tway and the last one was an asshole, Mike Standley who never amounted to anything.
kool on the golf
So Biden wants us to go to war, to help the establishment cronies
John Carey another establishment POS
go put your life in danger so we can sell weapons and get paid.
Not to mention our tax dollars are used for the purchase of weapons to support this war fallacy.
That’s not important, but what is, is Trump playing down the virus (Biden, Pelosi, and more importantly Cuomo, which lead to many deaths, did too, but that’s from the left, so nothing to see there).
incidentally, i would like to remember today, since that seems to be fading, not because of the event, but in remembrance of innocent lives that were lost and the fact that we rebounded and unified as a country so hard, that its the single event in the past 20 years that i can say i was really proud of how much we rallied around one another and supported each other to get through it. Seems such a far cry from those days now, but thats a testament of what this country is capable of being and i think it would be nice to find our way back to that, minus the tragedy of course.
That’s the true America, not what it’s been made out to be lately.

Isaiah says that he’s so consumed by football all the time that he tries to unplug when he has some free time. Says that when a game is on (in reference to KC-HOU last night) he tries to not actively watch and take it in more as a fan.

Level 2:
This is Isaiah’s first opening day after what he described as “some adversity” (injury first year in camp and again in a later season). He says it means a lot to him to get a chance to get out there for opening day after keeping his head down and working hard for so long.

Ford says last year gave him some confidence in the back end of the year. He tried to build on it in the offseason but acknowledges that the New England secondary ranked near the top of the league in almost every statistic.

Level 4:
Isaiah says he’s a student of the game. Says he’s been a fan of tons of receivers who were really good route runners. Chad Johnson, Keenan Allen, Devante Adams… watching their games, trying to add his own things to what they do and make his my own.
That’s what a true American does, works hard for something.
I guess he really didn’t want to sell insurance😉
He does resemble the new Jake from State Farm.
I saw Honey Badger last night pull up on a tackle instead of making the tackle. Was blatant avoiding the contact. Maybe he has always been that way but i dont remember it. Maybe he is just getting old and wants to try to drag a few more years out of his career, i dunno, but i would have call his ass to the sideline if i had seen that as his coach.
He’s always been that way.
Rob, I responded above a couple posts ago but here it is again:

I know a few of my military buddies talk about those, but more from a personal arms kinda way. He said that they would get a decommissioned, irreparable vehicle and they would do an at night assault on that vehicle, lie tear it to shreds with ammunition that was “expiring”, called it training but he said it was pretty much just an ammo burn.
I remember going to the edge of an impact area where all the old vehicles get bombed. We were there to shoot truck mounted 50 cals. Forty of us each got thousands of rounds. Took forever cause we only had 2 trucks and had to change out barrels after each shooter. We switched back and forth to M60’s if the 50 cal. barrels were still not cool enough. I ripped the shit out of an old 5 ton. It was a blast.
Not each of us got thousands of rounds, the whole group did.

Just a thought, and I’m not pointing fingers at anyone because I’d have to point it at myself big time, but I’m thinking it might be a good idea if we can limit political talk here. We all know where we stand and there’s no moving from those sides, so now that football is just about here, do you think we can keep it to minimum? I will do my part of staying out of political topics or bringing them up myself. Thoughts?
—————–
Mike E — think it a grand idea. What brings us together is the Dolphins. What divides this board and country right now is politics. Why divide? Not like there is a vote on here to be changed.
Can we still make posts like:
I think we have a really good chance of beating New England this weekend cause they are missing 6 starters from their defense last year, Biden Sucks.
😉
LOL — I don’t make the rules, but embrace the theme. Certainly with these cats something gonna come out. And I like talking politics.
I’m starting to feel like Bill Barr in front of congress!
And here I could give my opinion of Bill Barr, but will only say he sure knew how to get the job he wanted. 🙂
didn’t you just say you were refraining from political talk?
Nice word refraining. Was just responding to you in a fun way. You did bring him up after all.
That’s only a $3 word
Sounds like we are gonna see that whole Pass D. Thinking they will look better against Newton than would have against Brady. Rush D not so sure of.
Brady gets rid of it too quick against a rush, Cam will hold it.
No doubt Cam will get more rushing yards though. He’s still not that old.
My philosophy is that which divides us should be the most spoken about, i mean how eles do you get the exposure needed to break down walls that keep us from understanding one another. Uncomfortable conversations are always the ones that lead to growth. Its true you arent going to necessarily change anyones mind, but you could, vs not talking about it and ensuring nothing changes. You also might not change a mind but let them see your viewpooint which leads to tolerance and a lot better environment for discussion, more understanding so on and so forth. Again, i know people are fed up with the talking pioints so im cool with whatever, ill join in when its brought up like i usually do and ill try not to bring anything up, again, like i usually try to do. I just dont think we need to avoid topics as much as we need to put our big girl panties on when we discuss them.Should be able to expect something close to that from a bunch of old geezers, like most of you are 🙂 well and Mike who is an extremely old geezer.
It’s a football board and a lot of these guys are quite competitive. You want it to reach the point where ORob and steve put out 12 pro-Trump vids each day and Pig and I put out 12 CNN vids? Cav just said he might quit the board cause of politics, and understand why.
Sorta of like the idea of the board being mostly about the Dolphins.
I think a spinoff board connected to here with a more free for all discussion room would he nice add, i mean it would give us best of bnoth worlds, a board to talk dolphins stuff and a board to talk whatever. It really doesnt have to be a this or that, it can be both
Someone sets it up and I will be there.
I tried twice D, but these guys don’t want to start with what we agree on.
I much prefer football to politics. Football doesn’t make me as angry, I could shut it off and it’s gone. Politics isn’t like that.
me too, however there hasn’t been much football to talk about, with the election upcoming it seems to be the main topic. footballs here though can’t wait for sunday
No doubt Rob, but now that it’s back I’m going to do my best to stay on football and off of politics.
why are the pats favored by 7? we just spanked them last year, we have upgraded our roster while they have lost 8 starters from last year, i don’t get it?
Belicheat
Also, we have a fanbase that’s tentative, based on the previous too many years, while the cheats fans think they’re still a good team.
Hey guys, just getting caught up on the last two days here. The other night when I took my blonde and went home, I had drank a bit too much and was feeling very maudlin.
We’ve been struggling with my mom’s stage 4 carcinoma, and watching her go through this chemo is breaking my heart. Throw all the political and social divide we have in this country right now, and I’m just struggling. It’s been a rough 6 months. I yearn to see more compassion given to each other.
I rarely talk in detail about this kind of stuff as I’m usually a pretty self-contained kind of guy, but I feel a bit of explanation was due as the other night was out of character for me. I couldn’t quit this place. Been hanging with you guys for almost 15 years and appreciate everyone here, even when we aren’t playing nice, lol.
I do want to take a moment to thank SB7 for recognizing the growing threat and standing in solidarity with me in the fight against Norway. It’s not too late.
And political talk won’t drive me away. I can skip whatever I don’t want to read, lol.
Cancer’s a bitch man. So is a sick Mom. The treatments are so much better than we were kids though.
Yeah, I was just physically and emotionally exhausted the other night. I basically wanted to quit everything, lol. I took a couple of days off and am back to myself.
We have no history of cancer in our family and I’ve never been close to anyone that had it, so I really have no experience with it, but I am thankful we’re in an age where with treatment, she has a fighting chance.
Downer part to share is my Mom died of cancer. Maybe the more uplifting part is btwn my Mom and Dad there were 3 cancers. Other 2 worked out well after some hard times.
My dad died of cancer, officially but it was more due to complications related to the treatments. His body was weak and the last thing that hit his body hard was unfortunately not recoverable. Still I would call his story uplifting in that the treatment is much better than where it was an a 5 year diagnosis turned into over a decade of survival and probably would have still been surviving if not for that event.
Prayers to your family. It’s a tough thing thinking about it, it hangs over your head at all times, and it makes you worry everyone you have a birthday or a holiday that this might be the last one. Word of advice, don’t think about that, just love her and spend time with her when you can. Don’t think about the end, just enjoy the now.
Giving a virtual bear hug 🐻 to the big ape 🦍
Kong,
I’ve got your big hairy back.
sorry to hear that Kong, i have a friend with the same problem, he’s been fighting for quite a while and doing well, with today;s tech they seem to be better equipped to fight it, he’s had chemo and immune therapy, he’s now going under what’s called a cyber knife to remove it, they had to surround the mass with metal pins.
I think we’ve all got your back Cav. Just makes you think how insignificant some of this has been.
https://hillman.upmc.com/cancer-care/radiation-oncology/treatment/surgical/cyberknife
Ken, didn’t you have that procedure?
Kong:
Obviously I have a very personal connection to cancer. It not only takes it toll on the patient but on those around them. I will share this one story when I was meeting with the radiation oncologist and he was discussing with me upcoming 6 week course of radiation and listed every side affect and I took it in stride because well what choice did I have but then I look over at my wife who is a rock. She has worked years in the pediatric ICU as a nurse and she is balling her eyes out as the doctor went over all the side affects for like 10 minutes.
The other story regarding the effect of cancer on people other than the patient is when I learned I had cancer. I remember the doctor calling late in the afternoon when I was home one day in the summer and let me the rather routine biopsy I had came back as cancer. I let out an audible gasp and an “oh my god” my sons were nearby and both immediately said dad what’s wrong. That hit me like a lightning bolt because I realized whatever I did and said next was going to impact them so I had to get my shit together real fast.
On the plus side of all of it was that it can be beat and having the support of close friends and family helps. Don’t lose faith. I had a stage 4 tumor in my jaw but I have been cancer free for 2 years 4 months and 7 days but who is counting
So I shared 2 stories who said Hulk can count?
Yeah the treatments are really good and there are places that specialize in each type so you can usually find a place that’s not just good it’s great. They usually even have places in those areas set up to affordably accommodate both the patient and the families. I hope the best for y’all but keep positive. The worst thing for both the patient and the family is starting to lose hope and that shit is hard to keep around when all this is going on, hell like Ken said, right off the bat you feel you list it, but ya gotta find the strength and hang on.
Kong, positive thoughts and vibes for your mother.
Kong, peace & love to all of you.
Prayers are with you!
Wow, the outpouring of support has me sitting here at work with allergies in my eyes. I’m really at a loss for words (the only time you’ll EVER read that from this mouthy somabitch, lol).
Thank you so much everyone. And I was wondering why I can’t quit this place…HA! The why is because it’s filled with truly amazing people. Cheers everyone!
Thank you for the supportive stories, Ken, Stang, D. And thanks, Rob, I’m going to look into that treatment. She has metastasized ovarian cancer in the liver, and it’s the liver that is the real battle as they already successfully removed the tumors from her ovaries. I was reading that link you gave, and it specifies liver cancer treatment as an option.
Tell your Mom she brought peace the board. 🙂
We are family here maybe a dysfunctional one but family none the less
Maybe??? lol
I’m guessing only Mike E will get this, but popped in my mind today. And really only talking Cyrus’ first minute or so .
Can U dig it??????
Cyrus is magic, pure magic. Who else could get the Saracens right next to the Jones Street Boys and have nobody be wasting nobody? Yeah time for another watch.
Kong – Sorry to hear about your mom. I can totally empathize, I went through that with mom years ago, but they caught hers too late. Treatments are also considerably better right now. I wish your mom a full and speedy recovery.
Cav Kong,
Hey, Brother. You’ve got my 100% support, my man. My prayers (just prayed) are with your mother, you, and your whole fam, fam. Realize that there is real HOPE in this day and age. We’re nearly the exact same age, so I can honestly emphasize with what you’re going through. Lost my best friend for life to the “C” word 5 years ago… #FUCKCANCER.
I’m in your corner, my friend. Stay STRONG, just like our Hulkster Ken!!!
Maybe I am the last person on the planet to know but Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theory) is the daughter of John Ritter (Three’s Company). Bet you she made a lot more money.
No she’s not.
You are right. My bad. Misread the article.
No now I’m the last
Did not know that
Oh so I’m not THAT out of it
D:
I didn’t have the cyber knife. I had regular old fashioned surgery and regular old fashioned radiation
Your gamma ray exposure is well documented
😆
Cav, ✌️🦍🍌❤️
Kong,
Bummer news, my friend. We lost my dad 3 years ago. My brother passed away about a year ago from Stage IV lung cancer that metastasized to his brain. But ya know what? When the doctors found it, my brother wanted to know so they told him to say his goodbyes and gave him 3-6 months. My brother kicked the fuck out of cancer and lived another 2 1/2 years. And he…and we….enjoyed every day he had! It can make you reevaluate shit you think matters. Take time to breath.
Damn dude, peace my friend
I really don’t know what to say, CK, except I wish you, your mom, and family love and strength during this difficult time. I get it.
Kong
You have my deepest sympathy!.
Unfortunately I went thru this with my father a few years ago! ;-(
Kong
Positive pork vibes
My mother was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer last month so I know the feeling. I’ve had family issues after family issues over he last couple of years. It’s sucks – but that’s life.
💪❤️🐽
We need this today
I think we all need to remember, we all have things going on from time to time that isn’t known to others here. We come from different places, backgrounds and experiences. We may have different opinions on lots of things. We may disagree on politics or football or any number of things. But we’re all good people and when one of us is having a tough time, the rest of us are there for whoever needs a lift. I think it’s why we’re all still here.

PERHAPS SOME or all of you saw the SUN SENTINEL’s sports writers predict the Fins upcoming W-L record a few days ago. If you missed it, here are the predictions. Sports Editor Ms. McLaughlin predicted an 8-8 season. 3 others, including the Braided Coconut, picked 7-9; Kevin (Slow) Lerner I believe picked either 7-9 or 6-10. And a final writer, whose last name is something like Sveckis, predicted a 5-11 season for the Dolphins.
THEY ARE ALL WRONG. – – – EVERY ONE OF THEM !!! And the SS keeps paying them TO BE WRONG!!!!!!
————————————-
A FEW WEEKS AGO, I predicted Miami would have a winning season AND that they would MAKE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!
I STAND BY THAT PREDICTION, largely on the strength of of coach FLORES, who has become a breath of fresh air to this stagnant Dolphin Franchise. NOW from 1970 thru 1995 the Dolphins went to the Playoffs in 16 of Shula’s 26 seasons as head coach. Then, from 1996 thru 2000, Miami was in the Playoffs 4 of those 5 seasons winning, I believe, THREE playoff games in those 4 seasons. Thus, from 1970 thru 2000, Miami was in the playoffs 20 of 31 SEASONS!!! On Dec.30, 2000, the Dolphins defeated the Peyton Manning led Colts 23-17 in a sensational Playoff Game I attended! But, when the calendar switched to the 21st century in January of 2001, Miami’s luck went sour. They would lose to the Raiders on Jan. 6, 2001 27-0. Two more lopsided losses would follow to the Ravens and then to the Steelers in the playoffs in later years. Miami has not won a single playoff game THIS CENTURY!! And their average margin of defeat for those 3 playoff losses was 21 points!!! BUT I believe ROSS HAS FINALLY STRUCK GOLD with this coaching hire. And our favorite team will have a winning season AND a spot in the Playoffs. Their record?? I could not make up my mind between 9-7 and 10-6. So I compromised and predicted 9-6-1, good enough for the 7th and final playoff spot THIS SEASON!!! This means our Fins will play AT the #2 seed (The Ravens???) in round one of the playoffs. NOW I’m NOT predicting a Dolphins’ PLAYOFF VICTORY (although I would NOT rule that out). But I am predicting PROGRESS—-something we’ve seen precious little of since Ross took control of this franchise 11 seasons ago.
GOOOO-O-O-O FINS!! CRUSH THE PATSIES AGAIN!!!
Remember all the tank for Tua talk and this team may not win a game, maybe one? Well they won 5 with a depleted roster. So add 4 wins to their totals this year. LOL
I have to believe Coach Shula’s last bit of advice to Coach Flores was to go get another Larry Little and a bruising running back like Csonka and a speed back like Morris. Flo then interjected that he already had his Kiick.
Enter Mount Kindley, Jordan Howard and Matt Brieda.
Kiick, I mean Laird, is already here.
Coach Flo is the first one who actually listened to the great one. The Don.
I think some fans undervalue what Laird showed last year. He’s not an elite athlete or an overly skilled player, but he’s a gamer who has a knack for the game.
What Herd said…..Kong, peace to you and your family
OD, it is all good. Just remember, if they predicted what every fan wants, they wouldn’t get the “clicks”. It is just a game they play.
BOOK: I’m well aware of that. However, bragging about being stupid is no way to run your life, as Dean Fervor might have said.

Wow that’s pretty fucking cool
Wow that’s awesome!
Just trying to lighten the mood. 🙂
She would give me a patented “Kong, what the heck are you talking about?” exasperated look and shake her head if she knew that was my ‘song of remembrance’ for her. LOL

Damn, I actually forgot today is 9/11. I feel kinda bad, today should be about our American heroes.
Cheers Kong!

Kong,
The Phindog family gives our prayers to your Mom and your family. I can’t comprehend what you must be going through. Just to let you know 2 years ago I got a call that my mom had a 10 percent chance of surviving when we were at the fest. I talk to her everyday to this day And visit her as much as I can. People and science are on her side. Keep a great attitude is all I can say. Hope everything works out well for you Brother !! 🐕
Yup that was a tough weekend for the dogs. Glad to hear she’s still doing well that’s great.
I don’t know how I would’ve handled that Friday night without all you guys there to support us. I felt so lucky that the friends/family that are on this blog helped keep my family grounded that night. Thanks to all of you and understand why this blog is so special 🐕🥃🥃👍
I remember that Dog. In the words of Han Solo: never tell me the odds
Cheers! I’m glad you still get to talk to your mother to this day. I know it actually seems a blessing in disguise. My mother and I have really reconnected in the last couple of months, so I’m very thankful we have the opportunity.
Speaking of the good ole days . . .
I love her.
Doggy – That was pretty crazy that night. Glad everything worked out the way it did. Doggy family rocks!
Sorry Kong. Find peace and don’t bottle up your emotions is my best advice.
I lost my brother 17 years ago to this shit. He fought for 2-3 years and finally had enough. He called me and said I had 1 week to come see him and say goodbye. I was on a plane the next day. Spent the week with him (he was confined in his bed) and he passed the morning of the day I was heading home. Being a tough guy and bottling up all my sadness just turned into anger. Of course it took a long time to figure that all out.
Anyway….find peace, enjoy your time. Thoughts are with you man.
Cheers, ER. Much appreciated

Good for MLB allowing the Mets to wear first responder hats at last night’s game against the Blue jays (in Buffalo). Yankees were allowed as well.

Nice
Don’t worry the fuck you America hats will be back today
Could be. Hope not

My softball shirt says – rioters suck – where my name should be.
I wear number one – looks like this 🖕
MIKE E. & SON OF A SON; 27 HOURS and 9 minutes to kickoff!! – – The only hats I want to see tomorrow should have a Dolphin on them. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MY HAT, which, as most of you know, has a SUPER BOWL XVII emblem on it IN DOLPHIN COLORS!!

GOOO-O-O-O FINS!!!!!
Yes sir, I’ll have mine on. I am however disappointed that these guys are staying in the locker room for the anthem.
Stand up and be proud of America.
Flores is the leader and the team is with him. He’s handling it how he thinks it should be and I respect that.
I don’t get what’s so courageous by not standing and being seen for the anthem 🤷♂️
Fucked up times
SONNY; AS A VETERAN who served when called, I agree with you. BUT I DO understand that many Black people have, and continue to feel, the wrath of racial bigotry. Are they entitled to express their disappointment? If the answer is “NO,” then I and those who served our country served for nothing. Are they entitled to loot and destroy private property? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! But those who peacefully protest bigotry should have the right to do so. So if some choose to stay in their locker rooms as a peaceful sign of protest, I support their right to do so, EVEN THOUGH I WOULD NOT DO IT MYSELF.
—————
THIS COUNTRY has been incredibly good to me and my family. For that, I am eternally grateful. But I also understand that, for the victims of racial bigotry, the promise of America remains unfulfilled. We must work harder to remove this curse from our great country.
They don’t kneel now they hide.
Lol, they fucking hide
He explained it in that video that Wyo put up the other day. I’m not saying you have to agree with it but if you respect Flo you should respect this.
After yesterday I’m feeling particularly patriotic 🇺🇸
Understood, me too. I’m also feeling like instead of looking for reasons to find faults in people I’m trying to look for things that unite us.
I FEEL PARTICULARLY PATRIOTIC EVERY DAY.
I’M FLYING MY BIG American Flag on the front
of my house.
AND, LIKE MIKE, I try to focus on the things
that unite us. Such as opposition to bigotry.
Gotta take MRS. OD TO LUNCH!!
Son – I took a different read. What they said is that the playing of two “anthems” was divisive window dressing. And they want to unite not divide. They are staying in because of the second anthem.
Cool, and I didn’t see the vid. Just going off the face of it. I should know better than to doubt coach.
That’s how I took it.
That’s how I read it as well.
Watching an AFC East preview from 4 fan sights. TD Phins is our rep. Previewing the Bills jets game the Bill’s rep is Dan Mitchell he says Darnold had a completion % of 72 last year when not pressured and 44.5 when pressured, therefore the Bills are going to bring the heat.
I think that’s a big misconception, because all pressure isn’t created equal, if you have to bring more than 4 isn’t the same as getting pressure with 4 or less.
With that said, don’t bring up the generic stat of when pressured…bring up the stat of pressure with 4 and with more than 4.
Up early this morning to smoke a brisket, for the first time.
Nice! I almost went with brisket for game 1 until I made the decision to go with an Indian buffet. I just started to prepare my sauces. Only one more sleep until Dolphins football. Woohoo!!
Flo and team took the power away from those that want to use propaganda as a way to divide us. I said as much a day or two ago. Well, that’s progress. Yay!
Some ok college football on today. Wish I could get the ACC channel at work to watch the UNC game. Watch out for UNC this season. They could unseat Clemson who they don’t play this year. ACC will come down to Clemson, ND, UNC and outside chance for FSU. Mack Brown has had 2 years of recruiting since returning to UNC and they have a stellar sophomore QB leading the offense. Mack Brown put together some great defenses in the past.
Mack Brown…great recruiter, clueless coach, imo. Ricky Williams put him on the map, imo.
The Big 10 sucks for not playing.
Maybe, all you can say it’s a gamble, at best.
I hope they change their minds and decide to take the gamble
T minus 25 hours until pig off
Love Gus Johnson and Joe Katy as announcers
Gus is one of the best to listen to IMO
I think pros should be able to take the gamble. I’m not convinced or close to being convinced colleges should. First, what’s in it for the players. They don’t get paid. Face time?
Most college players have no chance of playing in the pros. They do it for the love of the game. I was against college games being played at first, but have mellowed on that. Oddly enough from seeing what the non-athletes are doing on campus. Seems if anything the athletes are less at risk, and I am sure their programs try to make that so. It would be fans in the stadiums and tailgates as a greater concern.
Fair enough. Something to chew on.

Yep. It’s very intelligent and inclusive video IMO. I tell ya, I love the culture we’re building on this team. They’ve somehow managed to put out a message that can be unifying no matter which side of the aisle you are on IMO
Transcript excerpts from the video :
“Now there’s two anthems. Do we kneel? do we stand? If we could just right our wrongs, we wouldn’t need two songs. We don’t need another publicity parade. So we’ll just stay inside until it’s time to play.”
…
“So if my dad was a soldier, but the cops killed my brother, do I stand for one anthem, and then kneel for the other? This attempt to unify only creates more divide. So we’ll skip the song and dance, and as a team we’ll stay inside.”
…
“It’s not a black, white thing. Or a left, right thing. Let’s clean the whole bird, and stop arguing about which wing.”
Tremendous message
And the overall outcome was that they just want to play football and not be distracted. Gotta think that was Flores’ wish.
Yep, I think the whole team has that mentality. I really feel like we’re going to come out focused and ready to play well tomorrow. It’s going to be a huge disappointment if we come out looking like sh%t.
So even though the opener on Thursday was on a national broadcast, I practiced my setup, and both of these sites worked well. Just FYI for anyone that needs the links:

Mack Brown…great recruiter, clueless coach, imo. Ricky Williams put him on the map, imo.
——————————————————————————
Krishna, I agree and disagree. He is a great recruiter and a really good coach. Before Texas he took a 1-10 UNC team to 8 straight winning seasons with a 4-2 bowl record. IMO, UNC got robbed of a National Championship in 1997. At Texas, he started with 12 straight winning seasons and 12 straight bowl games going 8-4 in those bowl games including National Championship. In 16 years at Texas he had 15 winning seasons with 15 bowl appearances going 10-5 in those bowl games and a National Championship. In his college career as HC, he has 24 winning seasons out of 31 with a 14-8 record in 22 bowl appearances.
Ricky Williams DID NOT put him on the map. Mack Brown was coaching UNC in 1995-1997. He only coached Ricky his senior season in 1998. In 95′ to 97′, Ricky’s freshman, sophomore and junior seasons, Mack Brown was busy winning 27 of 34 games for UNC and winning 3 straight bowl games during that span, including an 11-1 season in 97′ and routing Va Tech 42-3 in the Gator Bowl.
Just like politics, you should get your facts straight before posting. < meant to be a friendly joke/jab 😉
I will agree that after losing out on the National Championship in 2009 something happened. Something happened to the whole program. It ended 9 straight double digit win seasons. That is on the coach. He did take them to 3 more bowl games his last 4 seasons at Texas going 2-1 but the program wasn't the same.
With his coaching record, I can't see how you can call him a clueless coach. I mean, that is putting him in a class with Adam Gase. That's just not fair. LOL
Some college players are missing out on the chance to showcase themselves for the NFL Draft. Others may just feel like they’re missing out on their last chance to play on the stage. The others probably don’t care either way, but I think most would fit into one of the above categories.
I’m curious to see what happens to players who don’t play in the 2021 draft
I can’t help but think it’s going to have a negative impact on their draft status
I think the ncaa makes you site a year if you transfer so that’s not viable
Maybe it would be best if the ncaa permitted transfers without penalty this year
That of course has its downside too
I not going to criticize the big10 for making a move they think is prudent though
I think that’s their right to do – I would like to see the players have options though if they don’t think it’s wrote for them
I was just speaking as a selfish fan as I watch other teams play. Lol
Piggy – the marquis players will probably still get drafted but I was listening to NFL radio one day and the host was saying he spoke to GM’s who said they won’t draft a player who doesn’t play in 2020. I don’t know how that’s possible with so many colleges not playing.
A given GM could do that, but would be his choice. Think it is the kids who were looking to have a breakout year but didn’t play who will suffer the most. Say a top recruit who got injured last year.
No better way to win a fight than get the other guy charged for grand theft auto after he drives like 30 yards.

Two men got into a fight at a Florida Keys strip club Thursday night. When the fight was broken up, one of the men, 35-year-old Charles Thomas Schneider of Pompano Beach, hopped into a Jeep SUV and drove off. The problem is, it wasn’t his car. The vehicle actually belonged to the man he fought minutes earlier, Luis Alvarez..
The Jeep was running when Schneider got into the driver’s seat, but luckily for Alvarez, he had the key fob in his pocket. As Schneider drove off, Alvarez pressed the security button on the fob, causing the Jeep to come to a screeching halt
Ha! That’s funny
Figures from Pompano….
Surprise of the day so far:
Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns 31
Iowa State Cyclones 14
Thought this was supposed to be the year for Brock Purdy?
Hunt will be excited!
Thanks Cav. I should never doubt coach, lesson learned.
Also how did surge work compared to bite?
Incidentally we have the local broadcast tomorrow
Surge is the site I’ve been using for all of the NHL and it’s been great. When I tested on Thursday, they both worked well, but since the game was nationally televised they may not have had a bunch of traffic, so not a perfect test. I’m going to give surge a try first tomorrow and I’ll let you know.
It looks like most of the country gets the Fins/Pets game tomorrow morning, but of course in NorCal we don’t,.
Big year for Ian Book
Watching the Tua story on Fox right now…
Sheesh, I didn’t realize when he had the injury, he had a concussion and a broken nose along with the dislocated and busted hip.
Watched it and really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to see him on the field 👍🐬🏈
He’s an engaging kid, and that was a good show. I learned a lot of little things I didn’t know about him, his family, and his college career. I’m starting to get those opening game butterflies. Excited!
Teams scout players for years. I’d guess they already know the top 1-200 players right now in college regardless of what year they are. There will no doubt be some guys who fall through the cracks…but that happens every year anyway. I actually kinda like it. It’s like it used to be. It will suck for individual players who get missed somehow, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal for the NFL. If you have a good scouting dept, it shouldn’t matter that much.
Cav, thanks for the links. Will it work on a phone? I’ll be traveling, hopefully not driving!
They should work in your browser
No prob, Herd. 🙂
I don’t know much about smart phones. I still have a flip phone from 10 years ago, lol. I just tested sportsurge on my Fire Tablet and it worked fine, so I’d bet a smart phone won’t have a problem. I did have to scroll down past a bunch of ads to find the game screen. Both sites are showing college ball right now if you have the opportunity to test it. It’d be awesome to have the game while travelling.
Pompano Beach has so many strip clubs
Why does some one go to the keys to go to a strip club in the keys when they are from a strip club haven
No one that guy got in the wrong Jeep
He’s totally disoriented
Dude went cause is a huge strip club fan and was in the Keys to visit Phelon. 🙂
Randy and Mike
Those players that aren’t elite blue chippers are also a year removed from playing football
So I suspect nfl teams are going to look down on that too
And I don’t know even elite players I think might be affected
There’s always 1st rounder in September that end up being 3rd rounders in April
And it works the other way too
Prospects move around a lot in their final year before being drafted
Maybe it’s a blessing for elite prospects bc they can’t have experts say stuff like
“Their 2020 production didn’t match their 2019 production”
But the thing is – when we get close to the draft, I hear that kind of talk a lot
Or I hear talk like “he had a breakout year”
There’s a lot of OL prospects out of the big 10
Thank god we drafted heavy on OL last April…..lol
I’m just going to ask you guys to post links tomorrow….lol
You ended up not going with a streaming service? I was kinda hoping you’d try Sterling TV and report back, lol.
