So here comes Week 3 already, and it’s a short week for us Dolphins fans. Here we are at 0-2. Game 1 we didn’t really compete. Game 2 we were in it till the last minute, but in both games there was one clear message. This defense just isn’t in sync yet. Flores says it’s communication issues which in many ways is understandable. We all knew so many new faces getting thrown together is a tough situation, especially when you compound that with less practice time, and no preseason games. It’s easy to get frustrated watching them, considering all the money we spent in free agency on the defensive side of the ball, Kyle Van Noy, Shaq Lawson, Emannuel Ogbah etc. We didn’t stop in free agency either, with our third pick in the first round of the 2020 draft we selected Auburn DB Noah Igbinoghene. We continued with defense in RD 2 with DL Raekwon Davis from Alabama, and in RD 3 we selected S Brandon Jones from Texas. We continued to fortify the DL with Jason Strowbridge and Curtis Weaver in RD 5, but as we have well documented here, Weaver is gone. In any case, it’s clear we needed to work on the defense, but the early returns are not promising.
It’s funny, these 2 teams at this moment in time are 2 teams that are quite different as far as outlooks are concerned. Everyone was sure the Jaguars were looking to draft Trevor Lawrence in 2021 and threw in the towel. Now, in some ways they’re the talk of the town as a high-flying exciting team. They’re 1-1 and are +4 in points scored/points allowed. The Dolphins are 0-2 and are -13. Gone are Yannick Ngakoue and Leonard Fournette and yet this team has the arrow pointing up. Our Dolphins? This game will say a lot in that regard. After a tough loss to the Bills in which this team competed well, the arrow is slightly up, but a loss to the Jags and an 0-3 record will change that. Hard to say game 3 is a pivotal game because it’s still early, but a loss tonight, especially a bad loss could be bad for this team.
Byron Jones is apparently playing, but of course, how long and how effective he is we have no idea. I’d bet Iggy Mahogany is getting lots of reps outside to be ready. Not sure how correct Ourlads depth chart is but it shows 3rd RD draft pick Brandon Jones at SS with Bobby Mac at FS. I guess Jones is going to get his shot. I thought our depth and our strength was our secondary. Byron Jones, Xavien Howard and Noah Igbinoghne. Bobby Mac at safety again with Eric Rowe, and then all those guys as depth like Brandon Jones, Clayton Fejedelem and Kavon Frazier. So far, we haven’t been able to find the right mix, and our lack of offense has made it tougher on the defense.
As far as the offense is concerned, it’s been odd so far. We picked up Jordan Howard and in the draft when we were all getting quite upset at the fact that we ignored the RB position, the trade for Matt Breida soothed us. Well, after 2 games, Howard and Breida have 25 carries combined and Breida has 2 receptions. It’s been last year’s 7th RD pick that has received more playing time and nearly double the touches of either Howard or Breida. He’s done well in that role, and that’s the important thing. I’d rather a coach play the guy that gets it done over the guy who cost more or was drafted higher, but it’s surprising nonetheless.
What’s been great so far is watching the rise of TE Mike Gesicki. He really came on towards the middle of last season and this season has continued that rise. After 2 games this season Gesicki has 11 receptions for 160 yards and 1 TD. WR Isaiah Ford is getting it done as well, and unfortunately, the nagging injuries have once again found Devante Parker. He’s in the lineup so give him that, but he’s hampered for sure. Preston Williams has the shine dull a bit as he hasn’t been a big part of the offense at all, but he is coming back from and ACL tear. Jakeem Grant hasn’t really been involved and Lynn Bowden has yet to be active, something that will continue for a while until he’s learned enough to hit the field.
Have you noticed that I’m 6 paragraphs in and I HAVEN’T MENTIONED THE O-LINE? It’s amazing, but this is one unit that is moving in the right direction. It’s a pleasure not to feel the need to ridicule this unit, and although they aren’t a top unit, they aren’t keeping the team from accomplishing what they want on offense. Thankfully, holding calls aren’t being called like they have in previous seasons, they’re letting it go somewhat to keep the game flowing, and I’m enjoying it. Austin Jackson, Ereck Flowers, Ted Karras, Solomon Kindley and Jesse Davis. All of them have played every snap to their credit. Pretty impressive I’d say. You have to be pleased knowing they aren’t the problem. I said it, the O-line isn’t a problem. Feels good.
So is it really Ryan Fitzpatrick vs Garner Minshew? Hardly. James Robinson (undrafted) has been a big part of the offense, and Gardenr Minshew has played well throwing 6 TD’s with only 2 INT’s. Fitz has 2 TD’s and 3 INT’s but one of those INT’s was the garbage no-call PI at the end of the game by the Patriots. Still, Minshew is putting points on the board and not turning it over. I don’t really know what to expect tonight, will it be a shootout or a conservative close to the vest affair? Will we see more of Jordan Howard, or will Myles Gaskin be the bellcow? Will DeVante Parker be a factor? Will the defense make its presence felt? Stay tuned, tonight at 8:20PM on NFLN or your local channel affiliate. Enjoy!
GO DOLPHINS!!

In perhaps the most Ryan Fitzpatrick stat ever, Ryan Fitzpatrick has now beaten the Jaguars for six different teams
glad we get a little time to prepare for seattle
That will be my telling sign for Flores. The great coaches do great things, when they have extra time to prepare.
My biggest disappointment of the night was watching pre and post game analysis
Wow those guys in espn and nfl network don’t think much of the The Dolphins
I actually heard them say maybe the Jaguars didn’t take them seriously
Who do they think the jaguars are?
The Dolphins are a better team than the jaguars
It’s the Dolphins that can make the leap to be a playoff team this year – not the jaguars
Why would anyone on earth talk up the jaguars who lost a ton of players this offseason and last year
I had this game circled on our schedule as the easiest game early on
Yes we didn’t play good early on this season
But sometimes I feel like these guys don’t actually watch a lot of football and they just get their information from listening to each other
I tend to agree with them, because we can be a trainwreck on any given Sunday. Good thing we played on Thursday😉
The Jags almost beat a very good Tenn. team, and upset the Colts. We shat the bed against NE and were pretenders against Buffalo.
Also
How about that OL
Austin Jackson
Austin Jackson
All day Austin Jackson
He doesn’t look like a rookie to me
I liked when he got called for the unsportsmanlike conduct, he don’t take any shit!
Wyoming’s post form Van Noy: “Flo’s been kicking our ass” (something like that) … Thursday road game and the team played so much better, especially the defense.
Line of scrimmage play was definitely better on both sides of the ball.
Phelon – No commitment to the run game? We rushed 28 times, 36 if you count Fitz’s 8 rushes. I’ll take that every game!
You can’t commit to something that isn’t working, especially when you need to score on a given drive. We committed late in the game to it, because time was more important.
Oi! Maybe I am so used to seeing it that I didn’t recognize it.
More accurate to say that they are not yet a reliable running team. Can’t count on picking up short yardage.
I thought the playcalling last night was mostly very good. On D I really liked the no one in a 3 or 4 pt stance, it seemed to confuse them.
I think the Jags have a very good offense, and can be tough to stop with the bowling ball Robinsin and that WR that was tough to tackle. Their D seems to be lacking.
I’m just glad there were a lot of 7-9 yard runs on first down so they would count v 10+ and you have to throw them out in 1st down average run stats.
😂
Van Ginkel shined at just the right time, didn’t notice him much early on.
The start to this season has mostly been a disappointment. Flores gets somewhat of a pass, because of the offseason stuff, but he’s on notice (double secret probation)😏
I don’t think Flores is on notice or Tua should be in any “starting” discussion. It’s been 3 games with no preseason. We have a brand new team.
With that said, always believed D would be ahead of O early in season. Not this year or at least first two games. Glad Flo is kicking some ass.
So you set the club record for completion percentage in a game — does that mean reporters and fans won’t talk about getting you yanked out of the next game?
They’ll give Flores plenty of time, Ross has said as much, but he’s on notice for me as being that next great coach, that some gave anointed him, based on winning a couple of meaningless games with no talent.

Shenault, he is a Boldin type receiver.
At least spell it right, SMH😏
ShenauUUUUUUUUU
i used NFL bite to watch the game, just have to x out the pron site first, lol
i chose the third option from the top, the first two didnt work well
but the third one was the charm, you can change to high definition and its full screen too, then i bluetoothed the audio to my bose speakers
that was the best game, and the best viewing experience in a long while, it was awesome, thanks rockphin for telling me about Nfl bite
porn, its tough to spell one handed

It doesn’t matter what jersey Ryan Fitzpatrick wears when he plays the Jacksonville Jaguars. Take your pick of a half-dozen different team uniforms. All of them have led to one result: victory.
Fitzpatrick on Thursday night became the first NFL player since at least 1950 to record at least one victory for six different teams against a single opponent, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. It was an accomplishment only Fitzpatrick could achieve. After leading the visiting Miami Dolphins to a 31-13 victory at TIAA Bank Field, the well-traveled quarterback has now defeated the Jaguars as a member of the Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and New York Jets.
Fitzpatrick celebrated afterward by donning a paisley shirt that he left largely unbuttoned, exposing a thatch of chest hair that nearly matched his overgrown beard. After a night in which he completed 12 consecutive passes at one point, including one to himself, he was clearly enjoying himself.

I expected both guys to bounce back. X and Noah are mentally tough guys. We have a lot of mentally tough guys on our team. They practice hard, prepared hard, played with great energy. I wasn’t surprised that they bounced back.

Coach says spreading the ball around is very important. Create issues for the opponent when they have to guard everyone. Force them to defend every inch of the field, we were able to do that early. I wish we would’ve sustained it better in the second half.
Last night was “just the second time since at least 2000 that Miami has been able to log three straight touchdowns to start a game. The other occurrence came against the Buffalo Bills back in 2011.”
the offense works better when a play is moving presnap, there are some next gen stats that list the teams offenses, and how the offenses gain more yards when they have more movement before snaps
then i noticed Miami doing alot of presnap moving, and those plays were successful for the most part
yeah, the presnap movement helps the QB figure out what the defense is doing so it makes sense that those plays would be more successful.
What I noticed was our O works better in the first half. 🙂
Think they got too conservative.
Dolphins first scoring series was Miami’s longest opening drive to start a game since 2011.
One thing that stood out to me last night is that this is not the Devante Parker of old. He was clearly not 100% but yet he was on the field and making plays in fact he was our leading receiver. Years past he would have found a way not to be on the field. Way to go Devante
He looked like a gamer…. who would have thunk? Guess the answer is the phins when they extended him.
I agree, and I like it when we win despite our stars not getting big stats. Big stats lead to PBs, which leads to large contracts. Interchangeable parts work better.
Gesicki “has logged 7 touchdowns going back to Week 12 of the 2019 NFL season. No one has more than that number throughout the entire NFL.”
I hate stats that “go back to….” but Cool! Gesicki is no longer Gheysucky
when is the fest
At this point looks like sometime in the Fall of 2021.
October 2021
Our window is typically late Sept to first week in Nov….. which yeah means normally Oct. You should come some year. Great time and something about meeting all those people you know in person. Amazingly mellow compared to the board.
It doesn’t line up with our vacations, but some day soon I’ll make it. I plan on retiring at the end of 2023. So at least by 2024.
I’ll put you down for the 2024 list.
But just to pitch again….. it’s 4 days including travel with a weekend in the middle. And you haven’t lived till you caught Friday Nite with the Dog.
put me down for the 4021 list
I’ll alert Dave & Busters.
LOL
Great game! Refreshing to watch. Many young players impressed me especially our 2 rookie OL despite the penalty each one had called on them. DL Zach Sieler is one we don’t talk about but he was balling in the second half, made some big plays and applied pressure up the middle.
Only thing I didn’t like was run defense and no one covering the RB when he releases on pass plays. The other was the inability to run in the second half.
The box was stacked in the 2nd half, it was pissin me off, that Fitz wasn’t changing the play against abvious stacked boxes.
I think if he had a healthy Parker, he may have.
Jags RB Robinson was one I wanted us to draft in the 6th or 7th round. I was surprised he went undrafted. I stopped really talking about RB’s when we traded for Breida.
Pulling for Raiders, Rams, Colts, Bronco’s and (unfortunately) Steelers this weekend.
I’d like to point out this was a true win as I didn’t do laundry last night.

Go Dolphins! 🐬
I was thinking to myself at half time that Herd must be doing a serious early Fall cleaning. lol
I seriously need to. Working from home has taken a toll on my house! 😂
So none of this going on. 🙂

Hey, we won yesterday. What a great way to start the football week!!
Next game could easily send us back to earth, but let’s enjoy this win for a few more days, ya?
Scheduling is in our favor, both in distance and days off, and we did beat Wilson his rookie year. He’s much better now, but…I’m not going to put too much confidence into winning the next 2.
Ryan Fitzpatrick is the 2nd player since at least 1948 to have 2+ pass TD, 1+ rush TD, 20+ rush yds, and a reception in a single game.
The other? HOF Walter Payton, in Week 3, 1983 against the Saints #TNF

Who comes up with this stuff?
Florida is open for business , except for the stadium of course. We could do something for a game at a sports bar.

“Gov. Ron DeSantis lifted all restrictions on restaurants and other businesses in Florida on Friday, and banned local fines against people who refuse to wear masks as he seeks to reopen the state’s economy despite the spread of the coronavirus.”
I’m in manhattan right now, having a steak
Mmmm
There are restrictions
But they don’t appear to be hurting the restaurant industry
Right now it’s outdoor dining
After 9/30 it’s indoor dining with limited capacity
People are eating at different times like 3 and 4 to get tables
And the Gov just opened FL full up. And the NY infection rates are so much lower while still taking care. Thinking maybe not a coincidence.
I would describe some of the things we are doing in nyc as modest
March, April and May was a different story
But I think we are on a way to be being on our feet
I representing a lot of commercial tenants right now
The final piece is paying back rent and/ or getting rent credits – which is going to be an uphill climb
But when I came into manhattan today, It makes me really optimistic about where we are going
Of course if feel optimistic about everything after a Dolphins 🐬 win
I just worry about the winter up your way….. the normal flu season. We didn’t get hit bad last winter…. but good weather came and it all shifted south.
They also just announced our door dining year round too
I see a lot of you here really critiquing our team’s performance last night, and I get that we do that here. Of course it wasn’t perfect because no team is and our team surely isn’t a juggernaut. But to win convincingly on the road is always a positive no matter who you play. You can always build on a win like that and continue to get better. You can’t erase losses and wins are the most important stat.
“I mean, I’m a blocking tight end. I came here to block, baby! So four targets is four more than I thought I was going to get.”
— Gronk , who is getting paid $9 mil.
The inconsistencies of what you can and can’t do under the COVID umbrella is starting to bother me. I feel like things are being micro-managed and there is a new level of social engineering going on. A lot of it doesn’t make sense.
IDK Tim. Escambia county here in FL has been virtually business as usual for quite a while now with the exception of bars reopening about 2-3 weeks ago. Many wear masks and many don’t. Our #’s reported here have stayed relatively the same through this whole ordeal which is low. No real spikes except for maybe 1 week this entire year. I just keep doing what I am supposed to do to protect my father-in-law.
What I mean is, coaches and other sideline personnel must be masked at all times or they get fined. However players can be at close quarters, no masks, then get on top of each other – grunting, snotting and spitting etc., but that’s okay?
Oh, I got ya. Yeah, you got a point there.
I just find it odd that the U.S. accounts for over 21% of the worlds positive cases and also accounts for over 20% of COVID deaths in the entire world. Are our numbers purposely being inflated so our government can use it to really take it to China and make China look bad to the whole country and rest of the world or are other countries under reporting to make it look like they have it under control as to not create the panic we have had here?
We’re a gigantic melting pot with people coming and going from all over the world on a daily basis, as well as being a financial giant. The USA is a global hub. We’re like 4th or 5th in total population worldwide as a nation and/or territory,
Fun game to watch. Nice road win. High compete level…good to see. Execution was up and down, but I expect it to be. Keep building.
^
Lots of college football on tomorrow.
Carlos is awesome!
Great song!
they didn’t play press coverage, seemed to work keeping everything in front of them, nice adjustment by flores.
MORE HIGH DRAMA FROM THE STANLEY CUP FINALS IN EDMONTON! Tampa Bay limited Dallas to just 3 shots on goal in the 1st period, BUT 2 OF THEM WENT IN!!! Just when things looked REALLY BAD for the Bolts, Brayden Point scored a sensational goal in the final 20 seconds to bring Tampa Bay to just a 2-1 deficit after one period.
POINT SCORED AGAIN about 2 minutes into the 2nd period and the game was tied at 2. A mad scramble in front of Vasilevskiy ended with the puck, somehow, in the back of the net and Dallas was back on top 3-2. But the Bolts tied the game late in the period and, as the 3rd period begins, the game is tied 3-3. YET ANOTHER OUTSTANDING GAME in this already memorable Stanley Cup Finals!!
MORE TO COME!
EACH TEAM scored a goal in the wild and woolly 3rd period and so here we are WITH ANOTHER OVERTIME GAME, one of so many that have taken place in these playoffs! —NEITHER goalie looks sharp tonight. SO I EXPECT someone to score a goal in the VERY FIRST OVERTIME PERIOD!! A goal by the Lightning would give them a 3-1 lead in these Finals. A goal by Dallas will square this series at 2-2!!
—————————————–
ON ANOTHER totally different topic, the MIAMI MARLINS CLINCHED A PLAYOFF SPOT tonight with a 4-3 10-inning win over the Yankees in Yankee Stadium. Keep in mind the fact that the Marlins have NEVER LOST A PLAYOFF SERIES IN THE HISTORY OF THE FRANCHISE!! —And, they’ve NEVER WON a regular season division title, despite winning TWO WORLD SERIES!!–I think it’s safe to say the franchise WILL LOSE their first playoff series ever THIS SEASON!! –Meanwhile, the TV networks must be shuddering at the thought of a Tampa Bay-Miami WORLD SERIES between the two franchises with the lowest attendance in the Major Leagues!!—A few weeks ago, I suggested these two teams, both used to playing in front of DOZENS of fans, might have an unfair advantage in these playoffs. WELL, here they are!! –DEAL WITH IT!!
WAAAAAAHOOOOOOO!!!!!! —As predicted, Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight DID, INDEED, end early in the FIRST OVERTIME PERIOD!! Short-handed for the first 3 minutes of O.T., the Lightning held off Dallas’ power play with the help of some big saves by Vasilevskiy. Then, just over 3 minutes later, the Bolts found themselves on a power play. Defenseman Shattenkirk drilled the winner past the Dallas goalie and, BOOM–The Lightning are now up 3 games to 1 in this best of 7 series!! ONE MORE WIN WILL DO IT!!!!!
——————
Game 5 is only about 21 hours away!! The Tampa Bay Lightning have ALL THE MOMENTUM!!!—
And, they have a rested captain, Steven Stamkos, who sat out tonight’s game so he could better prepare for what he hopes will be THE CLINCHER!!
——————
TOMORROW NIGHT, 8 PM, ON NBC!!!
THIS OLD DOLFAN NEEDS TO REST UP!!
Y’all have a great evening and a better tomorrow!!
GO BOLTS!!!!!!!
Heh heh…You can always count on the Jersey Jets and their fans to screw anything up.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jets-fans-hold-pitiful-fire-adam-gase-protest-at-team-facility/
That’s pretty funny! I think Dolphins fans tried something like that with similar results. It’s silly!
LOL
LOL
We were playing not to give up big plays for pretty much the whole second half. I don’t think that was an adjustment to how we’ll play every week. You can’t play that way without a big lead. We still didn’t have very good pressure from the edges. It just kinda looked like we did because the Jags were throwing constantly to try to catch up, so we were able to rush the passer a lot. The energy was definitely there though. Guys were bringing it. Just the way it looked to me.
That’s what I saw too. I just hope that they don’t get into the habit of letting off the gas offensively when they get a lead.
MRS. OD and I are already in countdown mode for the face-off of tonight”s Stanley Cup Finals game in Edmonton!! – – About 10 hours and 20 minutes to go!
A WIN by the Bolts will bring them, and their fans, A SECOND STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP!! KINDA REMINDS ME OF MY MIND SET 46 long years ago as I was preparing for the kickoff of Super Bowl VIII!!
Thanks OD, didn’t realize they were going back to back days, might’ve missed it.
Randy – I think they played that way on D partly because of the lead, and also because Byron Jones was out and they didn’t want to put to much pressure after a tough game on Iggy. I think once Jones is back they go right back to the press.
Watching Finsiders recap the game. They didn’t like that we took our foot off the gas in the 2nd half, but then said, Parker was playing with an injury…so there’s your reason to take your foot off the gas.
They also didn’t like Aikman and Buck sucking the Jags off.
Phish,
Yeah, I don’t like going to prevent offense so early, but I understand why they did it when you’re up like that. It worked. What I didn’t like was our inability to run the ball when we wanted to. If you’re gonna go to the running game to burn clock, you’d like to see a little more production. Nitpicking after a win.
Agreed. As I said earlier, they still can’t reliably pick up short yardage in the run game.
MikeE,
Possibly, but they definitely put Iggy on an island earlier in the game without too much concern. He was getting caught looking in the backfield a little too much. I think they’d have played the same way with Jones in there. You can just rotate your prevent shell away from his side if you want to. As I said, it worked, so ya can’t fault them too much. Good win.
I like watching Iggy play, he’s an aggressive sonofagun. He had a tough week last week and I thought even times when he had good position and coverage on Diggs Allen threw the ball well where he couldn’t get it. You might be right about just playing conservative and not having anything to do with Iggy. My instincts were to think it was because Jones didn’t play and Iggy struggled a bit last week but you might be right. You know better than I do anyway.
“Both work extremely hard and want to do the right things. I think they have great attitudes and just really a willingness to try to get better every day. I think Solomon (Kindley) is a mauler. It’s fun to play next to a guy like that – a guy that can come in and really move bodies and clean out the pocket on certain things. And then Austin Jackson, 21 years old playing left tackle in the league, that’s very, very impressive and I told those guys last night that I am very impressed with them, proud of them and they’re doing just a lot of great things.”
– Ted Karras (yeah he’s their linemate he’s not talking about how tough it is for a rook to adjust to the NFL either)
I can’t complain one bit about our OL play. 4 new guy, 2 young rookies, that’s usually a recipe for disaster.
I’ve noticed several guys looking like it is downright unpleasant getting hit by Kindley.
Kindley doesn’t play well in a phone booth…..he is the phone booth.
We need to get better in short yardage situations
But moments like this give me hope
Take a few seconds to appreciate Kindley and Cox
It should be easy for some of you who have been appreciating Cox for a long time
More Kindley appreciation
You ever met a guy the size of an NFL lineman? It’s almost scary. Kindley gets average-sized NFL OL guys to feel the same way.
My concern for next week is Wilson. Our DE’s have no speed to chase him. Wilson will have a lot of yards scrambling if we don’t contain him. We will need Byron Jones back since they have possibly the next Megatron in DK Metcalf at 6’4″ 228, 4.33 speed and 40″ verticle. Wilson has the best supporting cast he has ever had in his receiving corps with the addition of the ageless Greg Olsen at TE, RB duo of Carson/Hyde and a solid OL.
IMO, this is the best offense we will have faced this season so far.
We will definitely need to have a solid running game and put together some long time consuming drives like we did against Jax.
FLORIDA’s KYLE TRASK LIGHTS UP OLE MISS’s DEFENSE for well over 200 yards and FOUR TOUCHDOWNS in the first half at Oxford. I BELIEVE TRASK, not that hippie from Clemson, is the best quarterback coming out in the upcoming college draft!!
OD, Trask is one I am keeping an eye on. Let Lawrence and the other 2 get all the hype. Trask could be a steal to backup Tua unless he vaults up draft boards like Burrow did.
FOR SURE,BBM!
What game to put on next? Texas to watch Sam Ehlinger or LSU vs Miss State?
Kentucky got robbed of a TD causing them to be down 8-7 instead of being up 14-0. BS!
STEVE CCNV; You’re welcome. It’s pretty unusual to have back-to-back playoff games in the NHL. But the big wheels in the NHL (and their SPONSORS) did NOT want to buck a full slate of NFL games on Sunday. So, scheduling Game 5 Saturday Night and Game 6 (if there is one) on Monday Night made more sense to them. FROM a Lightning point of view, playing tonight is a huge plus, given the boost they’ve gotten from winning the last 3 games. Dallas probably WON’T make any wholesale changes, given the short amount of turnaround time from last night’s game.
If the Bolts’ do win it tonight, they will end the playoffs with just ONE loss in the opening round, one loss to the Bruins, one loss to the Islanders and one loss in the Finals to Dallas.
THAT’S PRETTY DAMNED IMPRESSIVE!!
BBM ASKS “Which game to watch next?” I’d respond, the game with the most studs on DEFENSE, where our biggest needs are!!”
Gaskin is the biggest surprise on the team so far this year IMO. Good vision, speed and power. He is consistently breaking tackles, and at least a few times a games he turns a loss into a 2 or 3 yd gain. Those are small plays on the stat sheet, but huge for keeping drives alive.
“Godchaux played only 28 of 66 defensive snaps, while Zach Sieler logged 31 snaps” against the Jags. Raekwon Davis had only 13.
Somethings up with the DTs.
You can afford to do that when you’re winning. With the game being short turn around someone was paying attention to detail.
I don’t care about Trask!
Give me #51 Miller!
OD, that doesn’t help me. lol Both teams have 3 defensive players who fit our D to keep an eye on.
Texas:
OLB Joseph Ossai 6’4″ 245, (2 seasons) 188 tackles, 6 sacks, 2 FF, 2 INT’s
Safety/Nickelback BJ Foster 6’2″ 210, (2 Seasons) 81 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 INT’s 6 PD’s
Safety/Nickelback Caden Sterns 6’1″ 207, (2 seasons) 125 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 INT’s, 6 PD’s
Both safeties are hitters. Texas may be becoming Safety U. since we drafted one already from them this year.
LSU:
NT Tyler Shelvin 6’3″ 346, no need to put up stats on him. He is a massive man in the middle. He is very athletic and quick off the snap for his size. Stout run defender/very hard to move him off his position and he commands double teams.
S/LB Hybrid Jacoby Stevens, 6’2″ 230, 127 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 4 INT’s, 11 PD’s
LB Jabril Cox 6’4″ 231, (transfer from ND State) (3 seasons) 258 tackles, 32 TFL, 14 sacks, 6 INT’s
Jacoby Stevens and Jabril Cox from LSU are the only seniors in the bunch but all are predicted to be in the 2021 draft.
did anyone see this? literally some funny shit 🙂
Funny in a high school comedy way. You catch the game on Thursday? Was a nice win.
Sounds like uncle Jerry crapped his pants😏
LOL
No 3 Oklahoma goes down to K State!
LMAO – Biden lied about what school he attended.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-said-he-was-a-student-at-delaware-state-university-they-say-otherwise
There’s a first🤔 he’ll lie about everything and anything, and mostly straight out lies, doesn’t even leave them up for debate. Most dishonest lifetime politician maybe ever.
If true, then the Clintons learned a whole lot from him. lol
SMH, doesn’t surprise me (and dems call Trump a liar). LMAO! He was a commencement speaker there so couple that with his senility, he probably truly believes he was a student there. LOL …and people really are going to vote for him. Sad they don’t realize who or what they are really voting for.
Glad we aren’t doing serious politics on the board anymore. Don’t know what that is about other than from Fox News and he did go to the University of Delaware, but I read like 3 things a day that Trump says where go WTF. I choose not too share those. You seen a post about the peaceful transition of power?
And right in the story is he got an honorary doctorate from the school…. so whatever else he is a graduate.
He DIDN’T go to the University of Delaware. “the former vice president was never a student” I guess you skipped/ignored that part. I have made appearances at ND, IU, Perdue, Ball State, ECU, UNCW, USC, The Citadel, College of Charleston, UWF among others. I guess I will put that on my next resume’. lol
Article was about Delaware State different school from University of Delaware. I’m not doubting Biden made a mistake in that.
Oh, gotcha, sorry about that brother.
Ok, Rosanrosanadana he said he went to Delaware State U, we all know he went to Delaware.
Why should Trump say what he’s going to do after the election? He said last time what he’d do and Hilllary was the one that opposed the election.
Hillary said Biden should never concede.
steve — I think whoever loses should tell the winner of the election “it’s your country now” and help in the transition (or no transition) in all ways possible. Sorta of how America works right?
It doesn’t work that way any more, your party will do or say anything to get power back. Oppose, Meuller, Dossier, Impeachment, MSM, Lie, Cheat, Burn, Riot, Loot…
Would like to think my Republican party would not do that. And in 2016 Hillary conceded and Obama gave up the oval office while helping with the transition. You really think things have changed that much in less than 4 years?
Hilllary took longer than any loser to concede. Obama’s idea of giving up the oval office was to spy on Trump, and Biden was a part of that.
Absolutely things have changed that much in 4 years. The dems are trying to get rid of the constitution, yet every once in a while they’ll throw some BS up saying what Trump did is unconstitutional.
LSU and UGA not the same teams with all the players they lost. Got it on the Texas/Texas Tech shootout. 31-28 in just 31 minutes of football so far.
D, if you’re out there, Kylin Hill looking good with 162 yards on 11 touches (rush and rec) and 1 TD.
Finished with 15 touches for 192, 1 TD
Damn Texas came back to tie it at 56-56.
Not much defense I guess. LOL
Texas wins 63-56 in OT. Crazy game!
I don’t remember which post or who said it but the gist of it was I’m scared of Wilson because our DEs don’t have the speed to stop him. Not many DE’s can keep up with Newton, Allen and Wilson.
https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/man-overboard-why-defenses-are-getting-killed-in-man-coverage/
It’s a premature article for some teams including us. We have the talent to play that way because we went out and acquired it. It’s not going to get to where it needs to be overnight. We just started Phase II of the rebuild. But when they get to the point where the coverage guys are getting it – that’s when the blitzes start to to make more of an impact.
I just realized KJ Costello transferred from Stanford
He’s a name to keep your eye on
THE U is back
I wish Rousseau didn’t opt out – would be fun to watch
Too early to talk about prospects?
YET EVEN MORE DRAMA FROM EDMINTON TONIGHT!! And, with the top 2 college football games on TV being lopsided, I’d say that a lot more viewers are watching the Stanley Cup Finals tonight. They’ve seen a good one, so far.
BOTH goalies have played far better tonight than they did in last night’s 5-4 O.T. thriller. Thus the 1-1 tie at the end of two periods. However, Tampa Bay continues to out shoot Dallas (21-15 so far) and this does NOT bode well for the team from Texas. Ondreg Palat seems to be flying around the rink this evening. And the goal he scored certainly was a thing of beauty.
Will we see yet ANOTHER OVERTIME game tonight? I don’t think so. The Tampa Bay Lightning are one period away from winning the Stanley Cup!!
It’s SHOWTIME!!
The Lightning are a very talented team. They’re earning it. Good luck!
OT again
INDEED,STEVE, IT IS OT AGAIN!! The Stars are 5-1 in overtime during the playoffs this year while the Lightning are 7-1 in overtime. WOW!!
As most of you may remember, The Bolts first win of these playoffs was a 5 overtime classic during which they defeated the Blue Jackets on a goal by Brayden Point. Yes, it took almost 8 total periods to determine a winner!!
NOT SURE my heart will tolerate an 8 period game tonight.
GO-O-O-O BOLTS!!
Oh well! Game 6 is now on the table.
Piggy,
KJ Costello is a local kid here from the OC. Was cool to see him play last night. I thought he would fold after that pick 6 but he came back to throw 5 tds with over 600 yards against LSU. I will follow his career and hope for the the best for the kid.
I thought he would be coming out last year. He’s a player worth watching
Not for us….but it’s just nice to see so,e one before the hype hits
Pulling for Raiders, Rams, Colts, Bronco’s and (unfortunately) Steelers.
And the jets, I don’t want them getting Lawrence.
I’d also like them to be just good enough to keep Gase😏
Piggy, I saw an early 2021 mock draft that had us taking Kwitty Payne in the 3rd. Good call.
I just realized KJ Costello transferred from Stanford
He’s a name to keep your eye on
———————————————————————-
I thought the same at the beginning of the year when I saw he transferred to run the air raid offense being brought to Miss State. What I don’t like about him is his lack of mobility. He is strictly a pocket passer. I think for that reason I would pass on him. His numbers are going to be huge all season in this offense. My view may change on him later.
Season is setting up for some good college games on 10/10. Texas @ Oklahoma and THE U @ Clemson.
Stanger – Sorry about the political post. I thought it was funny that Biden couldn’t get what school he attended right.
You don’t have to apologize for political posts – you just have to accept the inevitable clapback since we all have strong opinions
No huge problem at all. But one goes out and then it wastes a lot of steve’s and my time. 🙂
BBMike
I really just want to scream “Kwitty” on Sundays….lol
Don’t you mean whisper? Oh Kwitty…😏
I guess that’s less unusual than whispering “Payne”
I don’t know what you’re into…but whatever floats your boat🤔
Watching ESPN pregame, Moss is so professional and brings a great expert opinion, Bruschi the other X cheat can’t get the patriot out of his arrogant ass.
Another pass rushers that might be a good fit is Joseph Ossai, Texas
Also does any know if Micah Parsons is playing this year
I’m. Ruinous to see what happens to the stock of guys who opt out
I’m. Ruinous too. Whatever that is
Curious in Porkeneese
Pats and Bills losses today would complete a great week
Not political as inflammatory, but I’ve noticed a lot of my friends on the left side of the aisle have been posting angry things about Trump about LGBTQ folks. Has he done something recently to against them? I’m aware of the transgender healthcare issue, but is there something else recently he’s done? Any info would be appreciated
Take a look at his new scotus appointee
I’m aware of that as well. Was there anything else?
I know she’s conservative but what is she going to do that is so bad to the LGBTQ community?
Nothing else recent as far as I know
Not recent one but the big one was he at least tried to get transgenders kicked out of the military (and not just to accept but for those already in). Not sure if there was a later pull back on that one or not.
Porkeneese lol
Tim
She’s publicly defended the dissent in obergefell v Hodges which is the 2015 Supreme Court case which struck down state bans in gay marriage
OK, so do you think she’s going to try and overturn gay marriages?
I have a friend that is pretty conservative that is gay and all for Coney Barrett being appointed. He’s married, and I doubt for a second that he wants to that to happen.
He’s publicly stated that she wouldn’t agree with the majority on that case. She can’t strike it down single handily
And of course the scotus has to have a case to re-examine
But I don’t think there’s any question of where she falls on that case, she’s been very vocal about it
Tim – That’s what I was wondering too. Like a conservative supreme court justice is going to punish the gay community? I don’t think it works what way. I know there is a majority of conservative justices but I don’t think Trump has anything against the LGTBQ community to begin with.
It wouldn’t be Trump it would be a case that tests the constitutionality of gay marriage that gets to the Supreme Court that they fear.
Well I don’t understand how gay marriage would be unconstitutional. Is gay marriage even in the constitution? I thought people against that was based in religion.
See my tweet above
I doubt she is personally anti LGBTQ (and I think Pence is)
But she takes an originalist point of view to the constitution
In fact, maybe more than anyone we’ve ever seen
It’s tough to say bc she’s only been a judge since 2017
But when she publicly speaks about these things, she makes it clear that she doesn’t think the constitution protects gay marriage or marriage at all
OK, gotcha. That just shouldn’t/can’t happen. We’ve come too far on this to go backwards. I can’t even imagine that happening.
Mike, that’s how I feel but my niece who is gay fears that as well. She’s getting married next year and thinks it might not even be legal by then.
I don’t support the government discriminating against citizens and their right to be who they are.
I hear you
It’s Sunday and there’s football
I’m just responding to the question that was asked
What Son said
It’s not like Trump (or Biden) is proposing anti-gay marriage legislation
But if there’s a new Supreme Court case on the subject that comes up from a state that wants to ban gat marriage and she’s on the Supreme Court, she’s the vote that turns 5-4 the other way around
So that’s her affect
I don’t think she’s the kind of person to invite people into her personal life
She’s not like an angry homophobe or anything
She’s just a hardcore originalist (to the extent we can judge her since 2017)
She would probably rule against Loving v VA too
It doesn’t mean she’s anti interracial marriage, it just means she doesn’t think it’s the place of the constitution
Honestly I don’t love the Supreme Court being the place for social issues either
So I get her point of view on it
But I wouldn’t risk the problematic affect to stand ceremoniously on originalism….but that’s just me
I would prefer aggressively legislative than relying on the court
But Congress has been a wet noodle for about a century now so here we are…
Tim to answer your question
Gay marriage is not a explicitly in the constitution
The 5 judges that ruled in favor of it ruled that it was protected by the 14th amendment and so For now, it’s protected u dear the constitution
Thanks for the intel. Politicians/government needs to get out of the lives of free citizens.
In NJ and in NY bc the state is not trying to ban gay marriage – it’s not really a huge issue
But when a state tries to do it, thats when the Supreme Court decision comes into play
Tannehill continues to play well
When it comes to Amy Coney Barrett my take is….. get used to her and the new 6-3 conservative court. Cause gonna happen, only Q is if before or after the election.
Read a profile of her that left me fairly impressed though. She was a Scalia clerk, who always admired. But more than that was the comments of her students and other profs from Notre Dame. All said she has an open mind.
And don’t forget that once you get that life-time tenure you get to do whatever the F you want.
I’m pretty sure she’s going to be appointed too
I don’t think it’s where Democrats should focus their energy
Also – I’m totally with you on lifetime appointment
Shes only been a judge since 2017
There’s not a huge amount of caselaw to rely on in terms of predicting what she will do
She’s fits the mold of some one who will do a 180
I think it’s might backfire when it’s said and done
I’m just basing my prediction on her leanings on things she said, who endorsed her and her public comments and writings
No question she’s smart and people who have been around her say she’s a good person too
She could have nominated cause of one sentence in an abortion case and she is young plus smart and presentable. They never even considered where she might stand on 19 out of 20 of the most important cases she has to decide on.
That’s what it feels like
It feels like people don’t really know who she is yet
She clerked for Scalia but that doesn’t mean she will be just like Scalia. Plenty of clerks have major ideological differences with judges
She stands for the Constitution, unlike 4 of them, now 3. That’s what their #1 job is.
what more do you want her to do?
steve — we were both saying nice things about her, including she is for sure going to the Supreme Court. What more do you want us to do?
I want you to acknowledge that the SCOTUS is supposed to uphold the Constitution and it’s not supposed to be used as a political tool, that the dems make it to be. There shouldn’t be any discussion on what judge is selected, because the judges are supposed to be blind.
That is exactly how I feel …. what is the problem?
Ok, you’re on board with the Constitution, but based on Pig’s comments he’s not.
You really think the Pig doesn’t like the Constitution? If he does not…. didn’t get that from his comments. But maybe you ferreted out more.
Fuck those states trying to ban gay marriage. Live and let live! I also don’t think the constitution should include social issues and I think if a state did try to overthrow legalized gay marriage it would get shot down, even with conservative majority in the SCOTUS. I guess I could understand some fear though, I get that.
Click to access 14-556_3204.pdf
If you want to read the case here’s some light reading. It’s only 103 pages….lol
But the dissent is worth understanding. It’s not like any of the dissenters are attacking gay marriage, it’s just a philosophical difference between how to interpret the 14th amendment
But it’s 5-4 – so no question, it hangs on a thread
And 2 of the 5 were Kennedy and Ginsberg.
Not sure what that’s about. I don’t understand why we need gay rights. Why does it make any difference whether the couple is the same sex? What benefit can someone have by denying this?
For the evangelicals it is a religious thing.
Do the Evangelicals control that though? Do they have any power?
Huge amount of power. Without them abortion wouldn’t be an issue at all.
Bill’s just got a gift td. 2nd and goal from the 2, holding on Buffalo and a horrible roughing the passer on Rams. Split second after the pass Allen gets nailed, not late, not in the head or knee.
