2020 Miami Dolphins Season Recap

I know it’s hard to push the last game of the season out of your minds, but if you just set it aside for a bit, you can appreciate what was accomplished by our team in a very promising rebuilding season. Like Tim has said many times, the NFL season is divided into quarters. We lost the 1st quarter of the season. We finished the 1st QTR of the season 1-3 winning only against the Jacksonville Jaguars and losing 2 division games, one to the Patriots and one to the Bills. We let a game get away from us against Seattle too. Not a good start. First Quarter / 1-3

The 2nd Quarter of the season is where we started to turn some heads. We blew out and dismantled the SF 49ers in their house. We pummeled Niners QB Jimmy Garopplo sacking him 5 times and turned them over 3 times for an impressive blowout 43-17 victory. 1-0. The Dolphins then cruised to an easy 24-0 win over the hapless Jets to start this quarter 2-0. The Dolphins schedule was affected by COVID-19 and thus forced us to take our BYE week 6 weeks earlier, so Week 5 it was, rather than Week 11. This schedule change ended up causing the Dolphins to make an earlier change at QB as the Tua Tagovailoa era in Miami began. In a game that really opened up the eyes of the talking heads, the Dolphins gave the LA Rams the same treatment they gave the Niners and made Jared Goff look bad. Whispers were happening that this Dolphins defense just might be for real. We turned over the Rams 4 times in an impressive win over the 5-2 Rams. So far, 3-0 this quarter. The Dolphins then faced their second 5-2 NFC team in a row in the Kyler Murray led Arizona Cardinals. It was a back and forth affair but for the first time, the Dolphins actually had to lean on their young QB and he came through to lead the Dolphins to a 4th quarter come from behind victory, 34-31. This is where we made our hay. Second Quarter/ 4-0 (5-3 overall)

The Dolphins began the 3rd quarter of the season against the 2-6 LA Chargers. This was to be the highly touted matchup of rookie QB’s Justin Herbert against Tua Tagovailoa. As it turned out, Tua had the better game by a slight margin as the Dolphins defense picked off Herbert once and sacked him twice. The Dolphins won 29-21. 1-0. The Dolphins then traveled to Mile High. The Broncos defense confused and abused QB Tua Tagovailoa and made Tua look like a rookie QB. Both RB’s Melvin Gordon ran for over 80 yards and the Dolphins for the first time brought in relief pitcher Ryan Fitzpatrick. Tua got banged up and there was no Fitzmagic this day as the Dolphins went to 6-4 losing 20-13. 1-1. A welcome relief in sight, the Dolphins traveled to NJ to play the Jets again in another relatively uncontested game. Ryan Fitzpatrick cruised the Dolphins to a 20-3 victory. 2-1. Tua returned from injury to face the Joe Burowless Bengals and the Dolphins defense picked off both Brandon Allen and Ryan Finley for a 19-7 victory. 3-1. Third Quarter / 3-1 (8-4 overall)

The Dolphins started the final quarter of the season hosting the AFC Beast Kansas City Chiefs and we sort of gave them a game, we played a lot of catchup after the Chiefs got to a 30-10 3rd quarter lead. Tua rallied the Dolphins for 17 4th QTR points but it was too little too late as the Dolphins fell 33-27. Valiant effort really, but a loss nonetheless. 0-1. The Dolphins then hosted the New England Patriots for a much needed rematch and the Dolphins were up to the task. Although we had a sluggish first half and were down 9-7, the Dolphins took control in the 2nd half outscoring the Patriots 15-3 for a well deserved win. 1-1. The Dolphins traveled to Sin City to the Las Vegas Raiders beautiful new home, Allegiant Stadium. The Dolphins offense featured Tua Tagovailoa dinking and dunking through 3 plus quarters completing 17-22 passes for just 94 yards and 1 TD. 9:47 mark of the 4th QTR HC Brian Flores pulled starting QB Tua Tagovailoa with the Dolphins trailing 16-13 and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick makes his 2nd relief appearance, his first not due to an injury. You all know the story, the Raiders went up 22-16 with just 0:19 seconds remaining which led to the Fitzmagic drive that will always be an image we can remember as his head was twisted to the point where he couldn’t see where the throw was going but was complete to WR Mack Hollins at the LV 41 yard line and then the 15 yard facemask penalty spotted the ball at the 26 yard line which set up the Jason Sanders game winning 44 yard FG. 2-1. Then the wheels went off the track against the division bully Buffalo Bills. The wounds are still fresh so I’ll spare you, we lost badly, an unfortunate embarrassing end to what was a very promising season. Fourth Quarter / 2-2. (10-6 overall)

So the Dolphins finished the season with a 10-6 record, 2nd in the AFC East. Even the most optimistic fans didn’t see this coming. I think the defense really surprised us, there were many things that despite the last game letdown, lead you to believe this team is not too far away from having a great defense. Like the great Dolphins defenses of the 1970’s, this is also a no name defense. CB Xavien Howard is likely the one player that casual NFL fans know, and maybe Kyle Van Noy because the Patriots were so visible. Our defense is young, really young, and guys that we drafted last year and this year are already cornerstones of that defense. DL Christian Wilkins drafted last year, DL Raekwon Davis drafted this year, LB Andrew Van Ginkle (last year) and to a lesser extent, DL Jason Strowbridge who was part of the rotation on the D-line. The guys we brought in in free agency solidified the defense. LB Kyle Van Noy was a great leader on the field, DE Emmanuel Ogbah had a very strong 3/4 of the season but faded out late in the season. OLB Shaq Lawson was also effective but less so than Ogbah. #55, Jerome Baker had his best season as a Miami Dolphin LB. If you give a good player better players around him, you will see his play rise with the talent around him.

This brings me to the offense. The one place where I believe all Dolphins fans should be thrilled about is the offensive line. This unit made great strides this season, comprised of mostly rookies. Rookie LT Austin Jackson started most of the year when he was healthy, and so did rookie OG’s Solomon Kindley and T/G Robert Hunt. Swingman Jesse Davis played every position but C on the O-line this season and is a keeper for his versatility and selflessness. Veteran C Ted Karras did a nice job this season but will be a free agent in 2021. Do we re-sign Karras, or Is Michael Deiter ready to man the C position, do we draft a center or do we go free agency again?

We need playmakers. We have a few guys that can be considered playmakers but one such player like DeVante Parker has once again proven he can’t be counted on for 16 games during the season. He played in parts of 14 games, but was hampered by injury and ineffective in a few. When he was healthy he was fantastic as always, but he still finished with a rather pedestrian season, 63 catches for 793 yards and 4 TD’s. Mike Gesicki is another one, and I wish I knew whether it was Gailey, Fitz or Tua or a combination of all 3 that sometimes just completely ignored him. Gesicki had a nice season with 53 catches for 703 yards and 6 TD’s but I think he can do so much more. I think he’s nearly as talented as LV TE Darren Waller who saw nearly DOUBLE the targets Gesicki got. We will be drafting WR’s in the 2021 NFL Draft, make no mistake. We need to build and give QB Tua Tagovailoa legitimate WR’s to throw to. At RB, I think Myles Gaskin is a really nice #2, like an Austin Ekeler type of player. He could be a #1 if necessary but I think we need more of a downhill runner who can push the pile and run more with more physicality. So often I saw both he and Salvon Ahmed downed by first contact.

The nice thing is the Laremy Tunsil trade has afforded us two more great picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, #3 in RD1 and #36 in RD2. We have 9 picks in all, two 1st RD picks, two 2nd RD picks and then 5 more distributed in the next 5 rounds. Building this offense is paramount to making Tua Tagovailoa a better QB. As I mentioned earlier with Jerome Baker, good players play better with better talent around them. He needs reliable receivers, a RB that can carry the load and pass block and stout OL, which I feel we’re well on our way with the O-line. Keep building that defense, AVG may be a star in the making and I really liked Elandon Roberts but I feel like he’s more of a 2 down player. A guy like Micah Parsons could really elevate this LB corps and the defense as a whole.

We have such a young nucleus on this team. I think we will add another nice veteran or two in free agency. Draft strong and just use free agency to fill in spots, not as a crutch. I think we have that formula down now. We have about $32M to spend but we’re not going to be big spenders anymore. We’re building, and I think we could be in the top 10 teams of 2021 and should be in the playoffs. In 2022, who knows? 1 year at a time, and for us Dolphins fans, 2020 was a good one!

GO DOLPHINS 2021!!!

  1. Orob, does anyone really think that Tua, Hollins, FOrd, etc, could put more than 56 points on the board in Buffalo?

or did the defense need to do a MUCH better job?

56 points is insane, and the team will never win those kind of games, regardless of who the QB is or isnt

  2. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

did anyone see the difference in offensive production when Fitz took over for Tua twice? night & day.

    • yea, but did u forget that Tua became the starter because Fitz was tossing int non stop?

i can understand you wanted more from Tua, we ALL do, but i think Grier and FLores are on the right track to rebuild the team

Fins won 10 games in year one of the rebuild, obviously we need more players and will get them in the draft

  3. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I agree with Randy on not getting overly excited about 10 wins. We did exceed my expectations and almost snuck into the playoffs. Going back and looking at it, in the end, we had the 8th easiest schedule and strength of victory was 26th. With that said, we never got blown out until the last game and were actually still in the games we lost vs the better teams.

    • agreed, besides, Billls are one of the best, if not THE best teams in the NFL

we didnt look good against the Chiefs either, this team is good, but not great yet

next year, im thinking the FIns will be able to compete with the top teams in the NFL, last year they werent quite ready for prime time

  4. Orob, when Ryan FItzpatrick was a rookie like Tua is, he had 4 TDS, and 8 INTS, with a QB rating of only 58.2

Tua has 11 TDS, and only 5 INTS, with a QB rating of 87.1, about 29 points higher than FItz

apples to apples compare is compare Fitz as a rookie, versus Tua as a rookie

obviously Tua had a MUCH better start, and has much higher upside, He IS the franchise starting QB, and will be a great QB in the NFL< He will lead the Dolphins to multiple playoffs and a few super bowl wins after Fitz has retired

We should be happy the Fins have a quality backup, or had, he might be gone , or one more season tops IMO

  5. even Dan Marino tossed 3 INTS against the bills and lost the game in his rookie year, lol

obviously he improved from there, stay tuned for Tuas improvement in the 2021 season

A select quote from Deen: “Brian Flores showed, with a season worthy of Coach of the Year honors, that he was the right hire for the franchise when it began its rebuilding process two years ago.”

  7. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    This fucking game

  8. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’m already tired of watching this Bills team

  9. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Colts are playing much better defensively than we did last week

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

It’s too bad their offense can’t keep up. 5 drives in the 1st half into Bills territory-10 points, smh.

  10. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I know some on here have mentioned it (New Age comes to mind), the change to refs not calling holding is so obvious it’s crazy. I thought they might call it tighter in the playoffs, but I have seen so many blatant holds just not called today in the 1st game, it’s crazy. I’m not even sure building a great defense is worth it anymore, smh.

  11. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Long drives that keep the offense off the field

Will be hilarious if this bills teams loses games like the bills teams of the 90s used to lose games

  12. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

That is the 2nd drop for Taylor. 4th drop by the Colts.

  13. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

LOL, Colts have had every opportunity. Short missed FG. 6 drives into Bills territory – 10 points.

    • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

So In Essence we are seeing Rivers play typical Rivers “money on the line” football..

If I was not a Fins fan, I would be a Chargers fan, so I’ve watched a lot of his games.. as good as his career has been and fun to watch , he suffers from Chokitis in large games..

  14. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    And that’s game

  15. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I still can’t believe how Allen went from one of the least accurate QBs in the league to just lights out. Every time I have watched him this year, he is money on those deep throws.

Billy Packer Jinx: “this game is ovah”

  17. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

WTF is wrong with Indy?! What was the point of going for 2?

  18. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Man, if the Colts could just stop killing themselves

  19. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

They are still in it. They’d better make this 2 point conversion that they have to go for now, lol

  20. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

    Nice job Colts

  21. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Colts only one TO

  25. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Need a turnover here…

  26. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Colts just need to keep them out of the endzone. I’m not sure they can. Allen is unstoppable.

  27. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Why isn’t Buffalo running on first down this late in the game with the lead

  28. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

    Wow

  29. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

2 and 33. it might take Allen 2 plays to pick this up…

  30. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Holy shit, the Colts are going to have a chance to win this game.

  31. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

2nd and 33 with no choice to pass Imstead of 2nd and 8 (or whatever) and heading to the 2 minute drill in FG range

I am waaay too invested in this game. I’m still not over that ass-kicking last week, lol.

  36. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Game over unless they say whistle blew

  37. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Bills just made plays. Colts missed so many opportunities

    Yes!!!!!! I called it?

  42. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

well, the refs were consistent this game with the stands calls

  43. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

What the fuck did the Colts do this drive?!?!

  44. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

So stupid to let that come down to a Hail Mary

  45. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

That last timeout by Mcdermott was brilliant. They’d completed it within fg range.

  46. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

TURNED OFF the Colts-Bills game when Indy’s coach decided NOT to kick the FG late in the second quarter and, instead, went for it on 4th and goal from the 4. This guy obviously was NOT a math major in college. Anyway, a little birdie told me that passing on those 3 points would cost the Colts the game!!
    ————-
    Sure enough, it DID!!
    ————-
BUFFALO WILL get paid back sooner rather than later for running up the score on Miami. Coach “FLO” has a long memory. I HAVE A LONGER ONE!! Payback’s a bitch!!

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

OD — I got nothing particular against the Bills other that most recent score run up. Their fans are pretty cool….. least the ones who show up at Hardrock. Pats fans are somewhat polite but real full of themselves. Don’t get me started about Jets fans. 🙂

  47. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It was a competitive game. Thought the Bills would win by more.

  48. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Rams defense looks good

  49. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I can remember when a 50 yd fg was a 50/50 proposition at best. It seems like most teams kicking a 50+ yd fg are practically automatic now.

Wow, nice throw running to the left

  53. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

They sure are making it sound like Wolford was the season long starter and Goff is the never used back up QB

  54. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I’m wondering what it would be like to watch the game without the fake crowd noise. It’s kind of irritating. Especially when they’re talking about Metcalfe losing his shit on the sideline and everyone can hear it because there is no crowd noise. I WANT TO HEAR IT TOO!!!

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I hate the fake crowd noise. It isn’t dynamic enough, so it throws me off sometimes. I found out last week, if your tv has the function, change the sound mode to dialog and it really reduces the crowd noise. I can hear a lot of what they are saying on the field.

I wish I’d discovered it earlier in the season, lol.

  55. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The Rams played well banged up at QB. They were impressive.

  56. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Breaking news! According to ORob, R. Wilson isn’t a good QB and Seattle is now looking at super Wentz.

  57. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Hey, maybe you still really can win with defense in this league! Who knew?

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Yeah, especially in the playoffs. Refs tend to swallow the whistle on defensive holding and non obvious PI, but even so, the Rams are really impressive

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Well I always want to pad a defense while others tell me that’s not the answer. LOL

      • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Well, we should pad the D because our QB sucks 😉

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

What makes me laugh is we got beat in all phases against the Bills and then the majority blamed Tua. Yeah that was it. LOL

We lack closing speed on the front 7 of our defense on a consistent basis. But let’s pretend that’s not happening. That’s how you beat the best teams/offenses. We invested heavily in the secondary. Now complete the deal. Just saying.

  58. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    bookman,
Yeah, there’s been a number of fishy things going on this season, but I think the NFL just decided to make it as easy on teams as possible with the whole COVID restrictions. No practice time or PS means a lot of messy football. Its fairly blatant, but I don’t really mind not having a ton of flags.

  59. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Terico and Dungy are really boring announcers. Maybe because there is no crowd noise? This is just a really weird boring sounding game

  60. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

ORob gonna be ordering a round of Heineken if this keeps up

  61. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
I won’t be surprised if we pick a CB high again. Needham can be mismatched, and evidently Iggy didn’t show enough to replace him. I wonder how Needham would do if he moved to SS. Maybe Iggy gets better, but we need an upgrade at 3rd CB. It cost us games this year. Edge player, I think, is still a need too. This defense still needs help. There’s no reason no to consider drafting defense high again this year. Just keep improving your team.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think Iggy will replace Needham in 2021. He wasn’t ready for all that goes into it. He was a 1st round pick so he’s definitely part of the mix. He was a converted WR who his college coach said is extremely talented but needs to learn the finer points of playing corner. Grier and Flores have added a lot of young players in 19/20 because that’s how you rebuild. 😉

  62. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
Yeah, I certainly have no problem giving Iggy more time to see what he is. Just like Tua, he’s a rookie. I was just saying if they do feel he may not fit there. I think it was telling they kept trying to find different ways to get him on the field. I take that to mean they like the kid.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. What do you think of Brandon Jones? I think he really proved worthy of a 3rd round pick as a nickel and dime DB as well as STs.

  63. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

    Dungy is really bad

  64. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
I didn’t watch Jones a ton this year. It’s hard to watch S play because lots of the time they aren’t even on screen….so you don’t really see what they are doing a lot of the time. From what I did see, I thought he looked ok, for a rookie. I’d like to see a little quicker recognition and reaction…but that should improve with experience. He certainly didn’t stand out in a negative way and that’s always a good thing for a deep safety!

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Fair enough but he didn’t always play deep safety. He had man coverage assignments as well. I like him moving forward. I do think he’s going to replace Bobby McCain at some point though.

  65. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
That was supposed to say free safety. Lol But, I’m fine with him. I wasn’t throwing shade at him. He just needs to keep improving. He’s athletic enough to cover, so I think he’ll be better once he gets everything down. I’m sure he had a lot to learn this year.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

No worries. We have a solid foundation. We need playmakers – #3, 18, 35, 50, 82 and then a 4th. Not sure we even play big in FA other than a middle of the road player here or there.

  68. Miami should just say no to Micah Parsons , he is a liability in pass coverage, and will get roasted at the NFL level

  69. i see Parsons as an incredible force in an NCAA backfield, stuffing the run, hassling the QB, but the NFL requires pass cover also, much more than the NCAA level

Im not sure if We want a 1st and second down only LB, for the first round draft pick, hes like another Raekwon Mcmillion

  70. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

In truth, the Panthers, Eagles, Cowboys, Chargers, and Giants could all use a player like Parsons, but his best fit in the top 10 might be the Miami Dolphins. Miami head coach Brian Flores loves using deception on the second level, disguising blitzes, and feigning heavy rushes to throw passing attacks off-balance. Parsons would enable Flores to indulge in that core competency even more. His profile makes him a nightmare for offenses who prefer more predictable opponents.

Another thing Flores loves in his LBers is their ability to cover rec’s, that’s one of Parsons negatives.

  73. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

watching the Bills vs Colts, what a bad call that helped Indy, the rec was not downed by contact, OK so they made a mistake.
then Indy hurried to make a play as the clock was running and the Bills called time out before the ball was snapped, Indy ran the play anyway completed the ball out of bounds with 12 seconds left.
ok no play, but then the refs decided to put just 2 seconds back on the clock! WTF, that play took longer than 2 seconds, if it was no play the clock should be reset to the time before the play happened, i think they had 20 seconds prior to the snap, now they have 14 seconds.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I wondered the same thing. I meant to check my nfl game pass and see if they really lost time on that call like it seemed.

  74. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

This Watson/Tua stuff seems to be getting the rumor mill grinding. IF, and I mean IF, Miami considers any part of this they have leverage because Watson is openly unhappy. I would not include high draft pick. Plus the $156 million contract severely alters a rebuild of the entire team. Kick the tires is a responsible info gathering activity, but rebuilds tend to be more effective with a rookie QB contract!

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

If you would not include a high draft pick then might not even consider Watson. Would take at least Tua and a #1, probably another #1 on top of that. He’s a young top 5 or 6 QB.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

And just read Mike Florio on this exact topic:
      ————————
“”So how high will it go? Based on conversations with multiple General Managers, the loose consensus was three first-round draft picks. As one G.M. put it, if the first of the first-round picks lands in the top 10 of the 2021 draft, that would help get it done.”

  76. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Holy crap, so it looks to me like the game clock operator gave the Bills some home cooking and the refs completely missed it. I’m kind of blown away the Colts coaches missed it too.

28 seconds left, Colts run a stupid little play to #11 that picks up about 1 yard, and he clearly gets out of bounds. (You can also see the ref does not make the signal to keep the clock running.)

The clock stops at 19 seconds. The clock stays stopped until the ref spots the ball for the center to snap, then the clock suddenly starts running again!.

Were we watching a college game?

5 seconds run off the clock before Rivers snaps it at almost the same second McDemott calls time out. The play doesn’t count and the refs reset the clock to 14 seconds.

Wow… Add in the missed fumble call, then failing to overturn the bad call, the refs really screwed up that last 2 minutes.

We’re trying to figure out if we like Watson at his price, but seems Watson likes us.

    Chris Mortensen@mortreport
Sources say Watson could play hardball with Texans about a trade. His new $156 million contract includes a no-trade clause but informed speculation from a source is that he would consider the
@MiamiDolphins in which Tua Tagovailoa and additional compensation goes to Houston.

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Something about the term “informed speculation “ seems off. Lol

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

It’s smoke and mirrors time. Only thing you can be sure of is this started with Watson or his agent.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I would do this in a heartbeat as long as it only involves this draft and nothing beyond (i.e. I’d give Tua and both 1sts and both 2nds), but I just can’t believe any team would trade a franchise QB in his mid 20s.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

that would be one blockuster trade, especially since one of the picks is third overall. But maybe what it would take.

Man does Lamar Jackson have wheels

  79. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

And there is the difference between a high football IQ and one not so high.

Last night we see a guy who has barely ever played in the NFL, Heinike, smart enough to knock his batted pass down and save the yardage. Tanny has been starting for nearly a decade and he stupidly catches his batted pass and cost his team like 8 yards.

  80. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Fun game so far. Tanny has hit a couple of big passes downfield and Jackson has done his thing with his legs.

I have mixed feelings on the Watson trade scenario.. would be on board with getting him, but not so much giving up our 1st 4 picks to do so as we still need some other playmakers .. if we could retain two of the four , say our 1st and Texans 2nd it would still give us a chance to add good players via draft … and if Tua is part of trade I don’t think would require all 4 picks

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

That would be amazing. I wouldn’t be able to make that trade fast enough. But no one is trading a franchise QB for a 1st, a 2nd, and a question mark player.

      • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Just think those 4 picks would really limit what else we can add .. and with his salary, mind you we would likely not need to retain Fitz, would also hamstring us in FA , so Yeah we have a Franchise QB, a really good Def , but not much more than we ended the year with

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

For me, I draw the line at this year’s draft, if we can get it done, I’d do it for those 4 picks, but I understand not wanting to trade all 4 picks, or any kind of king’s ransom, for Watson.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

If Tua doesn’t improve next year, then it doesn’t matter who we add. I’d be willing to sacrifice our 1st and 2nd rd picks this year to ensure we have our franchise qb for the next 10 years.

      • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Fine, give back their picks and throw in our next year 1st #32

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Think at minimum will take Tua plus our two first rounders, which means one is way above an average one.

  82. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Maybe they can throw in some Fairy Dust to sprinkle on Williams and Parker that ensures they play 16 games a year 🤔🤡

Can we trade for AJ Brown? I’d give up a first for him.

  85. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

This is a really fast moving game

  86. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    toba,
Heck no. I meant the Titan WR. He’s really good. I think he’s an all pro caliber WR.

  87. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Kong,
He’s a baller too. He plays hard.

  88. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Too many WR named Brown , I tend to get them all confused 😊,

  89. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Toba,
Same here. I get all these guys mixed up all the time. Lots of AJs and Browns. Lol

  90. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Okay Marvin I dont mind him either , and cost should not be too high

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I think this is all just a fun exercise anyway. I think there is no way in hell the Texans trade Watson and we will have our treasure trove of picks to add whomever we like. 😉

  91. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I think that is the first time I’ve ever seen Tucker miss a fg, lol.

  92. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I think the trade for Watson would be a disaster and I like Watson a lot. But the trade doesn’t address the primary deficit on this team which is a lack of playmakers. With 4 early picks and a talent laden draft at WR I say keep the picks

  93. i dont like the Watson trade rumours. i understand Watson is not happy in Houston, but that does NOT mean the Dolphins should give away their best draft picks, and TUA, for one unhappy QB with a 156 million dollar contract

the team is still rebuilding, and cant afford to waste draft picks we acquired from the tunsil trade

it would be MUCH MUCH cheaper to just draft Trey Lance, and KEEP Tua and the rest of our draft picks. let Tua and Trey battle it out for starter, either way we have 2 QB,s. plus our remaining picks for WR, RB< and OL to help the offense out, things we would need to do even if we brought Watson in, but would have no high picks to help Watson with

  94. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

I have not given up on Tua yet, but he is in the OD Show Me State..

Last year I watched a bit more college ball than normal, but was mostly LSU or Bama.. I never saw Herbert play until this year, I mentioned that Burrow seemed to make throws into tighter areas than what Tua seemed to have to .. Bama WR always seemed WIDE open … Tua did not look at all bad , but what I saw between the 2 I was a Burrow fan , even though once Tua got hurt it was obvious we would have no shot at Burrow … I hope Ken and Piggy are correct on how good they believe he can be, cause after this year I hope we don’t have our own top ten pick for a long time

  95. the Dolphins have their franchise QB< but need to complete the rebuilding of the team

10 wins in year one is impressive, just need some playmakers and another OL and some defensive help to finish out the rebuild

  96. Cav, giving away all of the top draft picks for ANY reason is the worst idea of all for the Fins

the fins traded for the extra picks to rebuild the team, they are needed and cant be wasted

if we bring in Watson, or anyone for all of those high picks, we cant rebuild the team, and we take 2-3 year longer to build the team

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

If we waste 2 or 3 more years to find out Tua isn’t the guy, it doesn’t matter who we draft this year. Look, I get the arguments for not trading for Watson. There are risks either way.

      • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

My initial thoughts are Surrounding Tua with players in this draft , if we dont see improvement next year , start looking for a Watson type QB , however if FO makes the deal for Watson, I will not be angry
