2021 NFL Draft – Less than 3 weeks away!

Draft day is approaching very quickly, so much so that I can already envision the arguments about who we took, when we took them and why we didn’t take this guy or that guy. It’s coming. Chris Grier and Brian Flores and the Miami Dolphins Scouting team will be questioned, ridiculed and revered by others all after 4 days of the draft in which the Dolphins currently hold 8 selections, starting with picks 5,18 in RD 1, 36 and 50 in RD 2, 81 in RD 3, 156 in RD 4 and then a long wait until picks 231 and 258 in RD 7. As usual, you can almost certainly expect some movement by our team in the draft, we have a history of wheeling and dealing, moving up back and all around at different junctures of the draft.

I think for the most part, the majority here understand that we need to help our QB by giving him better weapons on offense, and that could mean at a variety of positions including the trenches to give him better throwing lanes as well as keeping him healthy, more talent and reliability at receiver whether that receiver is a WR or TE and a durable ballcarrier who can also be a quality receiver out of the backfield. An easy way to have the QB improve is to give him better players around, see Ryan Tannehill and the Tennessee Titans for proof of such. We also have needs on defense but we made two key moves to make us better up the middle. First move was trading for ILB Benardrick McKinney to pair him with #55 Jerome Baker. We then signed FA DT John Jenkins. We do have AVG and Vince Biegel coming back on the outside but Biegel is coming off a torn achilles. He showed some promise before the injury, but whether the Dolphins are going to count on him remains to be seen. We need to get pressure from the edge, so I’d expect us to be looking at either an OLB or OLB/DE tweener who can rush the passer both standing up and with his hand in the ground.

Who are the most likely targets? I see mocks split for pick #6 with the usual suspects, WR Ja’Marr Chase, WR, DeVonta Smith, TE Kyle Pitts and OL Penei Sewell and Rashawn Slater. Once you get past our first pick, things as expected get more muddled. #18 is all over the map, from RB Najee Harris to EDGE rushers Kwity Paye, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Gregory Rousseau and Jaelan Phillips. Who we take at #6 will undoubtedly affect who we take next. If we don’t take a receiver with our first pick, say we go with an OL then I’m inclined to believe our next pick will be a WR. I can’t see going forward with the WR corps we currently have without finding a dependable, reliable high talent WR in this draft. I suppose receivers like Kadarius Toney or Rashod Bateman or Terrace Marshall could be the guy but I think we go for top tier talent here and either Chase, Smith or Pitts is the first pick. I’ll get more into the rest of the draft next week, and I’m sure there will be even more speculation, rumor and innuendo to discuss next week.

GO DOLPHINS!!!

I’m not really a Republican but I’ll throw my two cents in. Steve and ORob are no different than the legions of anti-trumpers like David that we had to listen to for 4 years, throwing temper tantrums and screaming that he was a liar and a crook sans any evidence. Actually in spite of all investigations and evidence to the contrary. Biden is as corrupt and crooked as any of career politicians and has a long litany of being caught lying. Even worse, he is now borderline dementia leaving us with the prospect of President “Giggles” Harris. Let them eat chocolate cake. Now there’s a role model for little girls…literally sleep your way to the top in California, have no principles, metaphorically spread your legs to get that VP spot.

Where is your outrage over the border now that it is your party putting kids in cages? After all but inviting the coyotes to bring them to the border. Ruling by executive order? And I’m sure Iran will honor that nuke treaty this time. Oh wait, I forgot; those China tariffs are suddenly not a bad idea. Vaccine passports? Really? Do they come with the free Kandinsky arm tattoo or do I have to pay for that myself? I guess since the Democratic Party is now the party of anti-American Socialist, that kind of thing is de rigueur these days.

    • pheloniusphish says:

And what lost the presidency was Trump being an asshat combined with last minute changes to voting laws in swing states by democratic legislatures and partisan bureaucrats.

    • The Flying Pig says:

Do you agree with me that families shouldn’t be separated and no one should be detained?

I don’t want anyone detained. I want asylum claims processed in court and civil claims and people to be released into the country upon applying for asylum pending a hearing with work visas so they can legally work and pay taxes immediately. I’ve said that before and I’m fully aware that neither party supports that and Its a relatively unpopular opinion.

It sure feels like conservatives want nothing to do with that.
I’m yet to find one who okay with that.

My outrage is measured to the extent of the policy. I don’t why you guys always argue “where is the outrage” , like it’s selectively geared towards republicans.

I donate to nonprofits that want to decriminalize immigration. If you want one here or is. Feel free to join the good fight….lol

      https://immigrantjustice.org/issues/decriminalize-immigration

Julian Castro pushed for this. And I would
Take that any of the day of the week over Biden, but I didn’t get that choice

So I vote by taking the lesser of two evils just like most people on most issues, The Biden administration is not scratching the surface of how I want immigration approached. But he isn’t separating families. He’s not using inflammatory rhetoric about gangs, trafficking and drugs to decrease immigration that has nothing to do with that. The Biden and Trump administration are night and day. I am very close with several lawyers that do asylum law and the difference is significant

Now that might be okay with you but it’s not what I’m voting for.

That “where is the outrage” argument is really disingenuous IMO. There’s a marked difference between the parties and their approach to immigration and many other subjects. In fact republicans campaign on it. Let’s not pretend they are the same bc neither live up to my ideals.

There’s nothing wrong with having different ideals. There’s something really wrong about screaming hypocrisy, double standards, blanket corruption, media bias at every corner bc a person struggled to understand that people genuinely just disagree. When you say “where is the outrage” to me about a subject I am both informed and passionate about, you completely undermine that I just feel differently about these things than you do. I am recognizing that one is much worse than the other.

On every issue, you are choosing the candidate you more closely identify with. That choice is pretty clear to me on immigration. It’s not even close. I don’t have to hit blood boil levels anger at everyone to make an informed decision of what direction I want even if my guy isn’t close to what I want. And I’m not going to fault some one for feeling different about it.

There is a reason I register as an independent every chance I get. Because nuance matters. I don’t have to pledge allegiance to either party but I can certainly who more closely aligns with the direction I want and right now – it’s not republicans

besides, I think you are missing the point. Both Ken and I have confronted David several times about some of the stuff he says. We do that all the time. We don’t need to most of the time bc the rest of you jump all over him. I certainly have no interest in pouring it on. But I have unquestionably seen people that agree with him substantively – confront him about it exaggeration and logic

Republicans have lost control over their party bc they allow Trumpian conspiracies to hit the mainstream unchecked. You didn’t lose the GA senate race bc campaigners were giving out water to people in line. You lost it bc simultaneously with the January senate elections, there was an entire dialogue about election fraud discouraging republicans from voting but having absolutely no effect on liberals – and that effects the final numbers. Ltd than anything else

If you guys just sit back and do this tit for tat game every time bc it’s the same thing David does, conservatives won’t ever be able to rid themselves of the stuff

If the Democrats were the party of socialism – why is Biden the guy who came out of the primaries instead of Bernie Sanders? I don’t understand why you make this argument either. I think the Democratic primary demonstrated that those values were rejected as a whole by the mainstream Democratic Party.

      • pheloniusphish says:

No, I do not agree that families shouldn’t be separated and no one should be detained. If you cross the border illegally, you are a criminal. Criminals get separated from their families when they break the law. Anyone breaking the law should be detained until they are sent back. All illegals should be sent back to use the established procedures to gain entry into our country.

Julian Castro is also for UBI. He is aptly named.

Since they just arrested 2 Yemini terrorists and are constantly picking MS-13 members, I don’t think you can ignore that factor. The only thing open borders accomplish is turning America into Central America. If that’s the plan we should just annex everything south to to the Panama Canal. Biden isn’t using any language about the border…he is hiding it. And it’s not a crisis to you because it’s what you want. And of course the parties are different in their goals – nothing wrong with that. I don’t dislike someone because they have a different opinion. But liberals wailed and nashed their teeth over border conditions – AOC cried – that are worse now yet it is radio silence. Doesn’t fit the narrative.

That’s all good but what is disingenuous is you calling for other republicans to silence anti-Biden conspiracies when you (not you personally, your side of the divide) did nothing but encourage them when the shoe was on the other foot.

Despite how wrong headed you are, I still like you.

      • The Flying Pig says:

If you keep criminalizing it you are just going to have the same “problem’ over and over again

It’s not going away and actually didn’t go away under trump….not even close. The numbers of border crossings were increasing in the last 6 mos of his office.

It’s like you want to keep pounding your head on the desk. What Trump was doing wasn’t decreasing border crossings

Aside from that I’m not suggesting you should check other conservatives to be fair or bc of what I did. I’m suggesting you should do it in your own interest. Hunter Biden gossip dominating right wing talking points instead of policy lost Trump the election. Election fraud dominating the talking points in January did the same to the senate.

In terms of my conduct. You didn’t see it. I didn’t have to confront Bernie Sanders acolytes on this blog. But I had to do it on Twitter quite a bit. And I like some of bernies policies. I just don’t like his rhetoric. You didn’t see it here. But I did my time, trying to ground people on the left. I didn’t want that to consume who was the candidate – and it worked. Biden beat sanders, and although I never really liked Biden, I will take that as a win.

You should not confront the hunter Biden stuff Bc you think it’s fair or unfair or bc of what I did. It’s about self preservation. Republicans are losing elections Bc diving into rabbit holes about corruption to any of trump’s opponents is tolerated by other conservatives

I want nothing more than strong multiple parties to choose from. I’m used to be mad that there were just two parties. Now I’m mad I can only consider one party.

The border though. What a fucking shit storm! Last month was the worst in over 20 years. Over 170,000 people with over 18,000 being unaccompanied minors.

Biden and Harris won’t even go visit and Harris was put in charge of this mess and it is only getting bigger.

    Their plan:

    1. Let’s spread them out at military bases around the country so the problem does not look so bad at the border. Also, don’t let the media in and don’t let anyone take any pictures. If any military personnel take video’s or pictures of the housing facilities on base they will be court martialed.
1(a) Insist you are being transparent.
    2(a) Deflect, deflect, deflect!

    2. Let’s use millions of tax payer dollars to pay the illegals to stay in their own countries. WTF!!!!!!

OMG, just think if this was the start of COVID. Thank God we had Trump/Pence to get us through it and not these 2 ass clowns.

I guess Biden’s Motel 6 policy of “We’ll leave the light on for ya” isn’t working so well.

    • Phindog says:

You got to invest in the new green deal and everything will work out fine.

      • The Flying Pig says:

Detaining them on the other side of the border costs the same amount to the tax payer.

I don’t know what % go back to court. But a default should result in deportation. That would be legit grounds IMO.

We do this crazy thing where we complain about the burden on the tax payer and then every effort we make increases those costs. We cause our own harm.

The thing about your number of 170K is that, although it’s a accurate, it’s specifically encounters at the border, of which only a small %, less than 30%, are actually detentions.

I don’t k ow the number for March, but In Feb 2021, the number for encounters was over 98k (March is considered a surge) and only 28K were detained anywhere long term. The rest were rejected for various reasons.

Those kind of numbers (28k) are sustainable provided that those 28k are generating tax revenue. And so that’s the problem with detention at the end of the day, it removes any possibility of tax revenue (sales tax or income from lawful employment) and just makes the whole thing a black hole of expenses. People not coming back is a risk worth taking if at the end of the day you are adding to us taxes instead of costing it.

    • The Flying Pig says:

If you didn’t detain them at all you wouldn’t have any of these problems

What do you think the Trump administration was doing? They were holding them on the Mexican side of the border – and paying for it. What different does it make if it’s on the border or somewhere else we pay for? I’m not getting why you are just recognizing this problem now.

We shouldn’t not be detaining people at all.

I keep hearing what a mess a border one way or another when you are detaining people. How about not detaining them at all?

The problem here is the concept of detention pending asylum to begin with, not where people are being held.

    • bailbondmike says:

I know they were being detained on the other side of the border. That’s where I prefer them to be. It was also working as a deterrent.

I remember where you stand, but it ain’t that easy.

What % of the ones released actually come back and go to court? I see them in jail everyday with ICE holds. Before, they were taken from here to Louisiana then a vast majority deported. Now they are taken to Louisiana, reset in the system and released back to the community only to not show up in court again. Not only that, ICE is told to release them without even having to post the bond for their criminal charge only to have them not show up for that court date either.

I know this for fact cause there is an illegal in jail here right now who did this. Had a $5000 bond for DUI with Property Damage and Bodily Injury and $1000 bond for Driving w/o a Valid DL back in Feb he was picked up by ICE and released in a week without even having to post bond. Then, he missed court in March. Was just rearrested for a second DUI and Driving w/o a Valid DL in 2 months and for a Failure to Appear warrant issued on the first DUI case.

The rest of us legal citizens have to get bonded out. Guess they will just rinse and repeat until he kills someone.

I personally don’t care what party anybody is affiliated with. It is our right to vote your conscience. What I don’t like is insular thinking. The blanket objection you don’t agree with. Elevating conspiracy theories to facts. Viewing the opposing party instead of your fellow Americans. I can’t stand inflammatory rhetoric and xenophobia. I don’t have to agree but that doesn’t mean you are not my friend. Unfortunately not enough people feel that way

    • stangerx says:

Poster a prominent right-wing conspiracy theorist has in his office.

    • Phindog says:

Well conspiracy theories are the opposite of another’s beliefs. Once we can call bullshit on either side factual then maybe we can make progress.

      • Ken says:

I don’t believe conspiracy theories are the opposite of one’s beliefs. Facts are facts conspiracy theories are not facts. There are plenty facts a conservative can site to to support their position and same for a liberal without having to resort to spreading conspiracy theories

      • Phindog says:

Ken you are a great dude, but what defines a conspiracy theory?

      • bailbondmike says:

Conspiracy theories are so much better though! 😉

      • stangerx says:

For some conspiracy theories are tools to support one’s beliefs, or at least side. Within hours of the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol was spreading that antifa and BLM agitators dressed as Trump supporters were behind it. All the news clips of pasty faced white dudes attacking the cops didn’t matter.

      • bailbondmike says:

        I found it:

Definition: Conspiracy Theory – Facts someone doesn’t to believe as truth.

      • bailbondmike says:

I thought ANTIFA was mostly pasty faced white dudes.

      • bailbondmike says:

Dammit, fucked up my own joke.

        I found it:

Definition: Conspiracy Theory – Facts someone doesn’t want to believe as truth.

      • Ken says:

A conspiracy theory is essentially when someone is trying to pass of an allegation as fact without any evidentiary support such as Hillary Clinton is running a child sex trafficking ring out of a basement of a pizza restaurant in Washington

      • bailbondmike says:

        She is? I knew it!

      • stangerx says:

BBM — don’t know what Antifa folks look like, but a false flag operation as they dress up as Trump supporters and lead the attack right after a Trump rally. Come’on. And at this point we do know who did get arrested…..wasn’t them except for one dude.

      • The Flying Pig says:

That’s a fair point Dog. You should be calling bullshit on the other side. But I don’t think the whole hunter biden laptop think is calling out bs….I think it is bs

Most blanket claims of corruption do not pass the sniff test

I don’t think the election fraud emphasis passes the sniff test either….but I know a lot of you guys strongly disagree about that

I also don’t think there’s a “crisis” on the border. But I’m not calling that a conspiracy theory. I’m calling that a difference of opinion

There are distinctions between different ideological beliefs and stuff that’s floated around about people. And I think the widespread conspiracy stuff turns people off and makes it hard to win elections. And now we’ve hit a new level where now even after losing based on that, we wrap it around anew conspiracy about not really losing. That’s a catch 22 for Republicans. You can’t win if you go along with that IMO

  8. olddolphan says:

IT’S ONE THING to SAY “altho’ I disagree with what you say, I’ll defend to my death your right to say it.” But it’s quite another thing to ACTUALLy do it!!

Those who have defended our country when called automatically get the benefit of the doubt from your’s truly. That’s why I hold draft dodgers in lower regard. To pass my bullshit detector, you either serve your country OR you have a god-damned good reason for not doing so.

DO I make myself perfectly clear??

  9. Phindog says:

Ken, what if Hillary actually did just that, would it still be just a conspiracy theory or a fact ?

  10. bailbondmike says:

Stanger, yeah everyone jumped the gun pointing fingers on the Jan 6th event.

    • stangerx says:

And someone jumped the gun on purpose. Wanted it to be true and put it out as fact knowing it most likely was not. Didn’t stop it from sweeping the nation. Made Tucker Carlson. That’s a conspiracy theory.

  11. bailbondmike says:

We do this crazy thing where we complain about the burden on the tax payer and then every effort we make increases those costs. We cause our own harm.
    ——————————————-

Glad we are talking some politics today. That football shit yesterday was wearing me out!!

  13. olddolphan says:

BY THE WAY, ANOTHER well thought out & well written effort, Mike E.
Last year the draft proved to be predictable in the first round. NOT SO this year. I believe this relative lack of predictability adds to the drama of this year’s draft.
    —————————–
NOT SOLD YET on taking Pitts at #6. We already have a primo pass catching TE in Gesicki, so I don’t believe our need for a TE matches our needs at WR, Running Back, or Edge/LB. IF Pitts is, hands down, the top player in the draft, then we should take him. But after watching him play last season for the Gators I came away with the belief that much of Pitts’ success was the product of who was throwing him the football.
    —————————–
SO I’M STILL WR at pick#6, RB @ pick #18, then the best EDGE/LB available with the 1st pick in round 2 and the best remaining OL with the 2nd pick in round 2.

    • stangerx says:

Good chance Pitts won’t even be there at #6. But if he is I take him. I’d love to take a C with that second pick in the 2nd round.

  16. bailbondmike says:

I also don’t think there’s a “crisis” on the border.

What would the media call it if Trump were still in office? No need to answer. Just sayin’.

I agree. It’s a difference of opinion. You just have the wrong opinion. 😉

    • The Flying Pig says:

I dont know what you mean?

Wouldn’t calling the same thing a crisis at the border during trumps administration benefit Trump?

You don’t think the media wanted to help trump do you?

Isn’t that the whole point to calling it a crisis: Suggesting that border crossings are at defcon 4?

    • bailbondmike says:

What I meant is if Trump were still in office the media would be spewing the same rhetoric they did when he was still in office. Calling him Hitler for putting people in detention camps and children in cages. Though that is the same thing that is happening now only the media is relatively quite about it when last months #’s show the situation is the worst it’s been in 20 years.

      • The Flying Pig says:

Trump was separating families (in the first two years of his presidency) at the border and then putting those children in detention (cages)

Obama and Biden put unaccompanied minors in detention (cages)

        There’s quite a difference. It’s not a double standard.

As I keep saying – I hate them both

But, Everytime I argue that there should be no more detention for anyone, and that the policy should stop – not a single trump supporter agrees with me. It’s not the direction trump supporters have ever supported. They want to turn the volume of a bad policy from 9 to 10. I’ll take 9 any day of the week. ThIs is not a double standard, what trump was doing was worse. Not only did they separate families, they didn’t have a plan to reunite them, whether deported or not. It would be nice if the people that were mad about it under Biden actually didn’t want detention and instead using it as a vehicle to point out hypocrisy.

  20. steveccnv says:

To say this or that is the reason Trump lost the election is more of a conspiracy, than saying he lost bc of election fraud. At least there’s video evidence election fraud took place

      That’s racist..

    • stangerx says:

Agree that in any election their is more than one reason the loser lost. There should’nt be The Reason.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Thats not a conspiracy

      It’s an opinion.

It’s actually more than that, it’s a prediction.

I said it would jeopardize the Republicans in the senate in January in November when you guys started and the results demonstrated that.

I’ll go even further and say it will hurt Republicans in 2022

As long as you guys keep riding this train, I don’t think the track is changing

      • steveccnv says:

So when we say it it’s conspiracy, and when you say it its opinion. Ok I get your logic now.

Until the track changes, Republicans aren’t getting any power back, if the midterms are on the level for sure house and senate will be back in their hands.

Why do you think biden is trying so hard to get national election laws, that will allow mail in voting in mass?

      • The Flying Pig says:

It’s not just who says it Steve

Read the link below that I posted about the GA senate runoffs

Turnout in the GA senate race was low in the most republican districts

Call me idealistic, but I think you do need to focus on actual policy instead of mudslinging to win an election. It’s probably why Hillary lost in 2016 too.

      • The Flying Pig says:

And to answer your question, I think mail in voting helps democrats….well unless republicans start coming out in support of it….which I think would be the smart move

But I’m cynical enough to think democrats are pushing for it bc it gives them an edge. So I agree with that. But I don’t think that’s corruption or fraud though

And fundamentally, I think voting should be easier not harder – so whomever pushes for mail in voting lines up with my ideology one way or another

If you follow politics long enough, I bet we see the sides completely flip on this one day.

But for now the perception is that it’s gives democrats an edge. Personally I think the smart move would be for Republicans to push for it too – to even that advantage

    • David Collins says:

lol there is no evidence that trump got cheated out of an election, he LOST because he spent most of his time golfing, lying, and complaining while hundreds of thousands of Americans died

  21. Phindog says:

  22. The Flying Pig says:

    Stanger,

You think my opinion of why the Republicans lost the election is a “conspiracy”? Really?

    • stangerx says:

Not really at all. When put that out didn’t even realize was disagreeing with you in any way . Certainly never called anything you thought a conspiracy. My point was Trump lost for more than one reason.

      • The Flying Pig says:

What do you think was the affect of Republicans challenging the validity of the election had on GA Republicans in the GA senate election?

I mean sure people have a lot of reasons to vote. There are always multiple reasons but even Mitch McConnell noted It as having a significant impact.

There’s actually data on this. Low turnout by republican in the most Republicans districts

Was darn clear to me that the GA senate election was turned by Trump’s insistence on the “Big Lie.” It was still darn close though. But also involved was the changing demographics in Georgia. Whole lot of folks from other states coming in. Place is going Red to Purple. Trump also lost the general election.

  23. bailbondmike says:

Ya’ll don’t be mad at me for posting something about football, but, if we take Pitts at #6, I would love to take a chance on Marquez Stevenson at #156. If he had not gotten injured his first 2 seasons in college, he would be talked about as a top 75 prospect or higher.

    https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/marquez-stevenson-pro-day-houston-2021-nfl-draft

Besides Tutu Atwell, he will probably be the fastest WR on the board after round 3. He can play any WR position with sub 4.4 speed and is a very good returner.

What idiots. De Santis opened up the whole state and stopped the mask mandate months ago. And how hard is it to wear a mask? And no one has to get a vaccine.
    ———————————–
A group known as the Reopen South Florida is organizing a “mask burning” event and a march through Fort Lauderdale to protest masks and vaccinations as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise. The event is also being organized by another group known as UnMasking America and the Libertarian Party of Broward.

The lead organizer of the rally, Chris Nelson, wrote “You are invited to the Million Maskless March and Mask Burning, Saturday April 10, 2021 at 3pm at the Corner of A1A and Las Olas in Ft Lauderdale! April 10 marks one year of mask tyranny in Broward County and we will mark that date with a celebration of freedom! It will feature recognition and prizes for those who have faithfully endured this last year, addresses from local leaders and activists and most importantly (and fun) a mask burning!”

    • bookman11 says:

Why protest the vaccines? Doesn’t make much sense. I don’t think anybody likes wearing masks, but it really annoys me when a business posts that masks are required, and selfish people do not comply.

      • stangerx says:

Selfish is right, or maybe just stupid. Other people wearing masks and getting vaccines helps them. Am sure some will proudly claim “never got it… I was right” after all over.

  26. New Age says:

    Piggy,

There have been studies showing that mail in voting is much, much more likely to have fraud than in-person. It’s one reason Europe doesn’t really use it. It’s also one reason South American countries like Bolivia do. Considering we had known fraud and some counties still can’t show chain of custody from this past election, why would we want more mail in voting?

It’s not very difficult to go out and vote. It can be annoying and slow, but not difficult. No state keeps an up to date registry because both sides play some shenanigans. Why would I want that? Mail in voting isn’t some awesome new take on voting. It’s a doorway to fraud and taking away one of our most important rights. When our government gets serious about border security, voting security, and restrictions for busing, bribing, canvasing, and other forms of voter fraud, I’ll get more on board with mail in voting.

    • steveccnv says:

They know all of this they’ve just been playing stupid.

We keep hearing there’s no proof of election fraud, then widespread proof…

They’ve been using mall in voting to bypass voter I’d.

Biden wants to nationalize no voter I’d and mail in voting, if that doesn’t tell you they want to continue to cheat I don’t know what to tell you

      • steveccnv says:

House seats in highly republican OC CA were flipped in 2018, because of ballot harvesting, another cheat tool the top tool is trying to nationalize

      • Krishna says:

    • steveccnv says:

You’re out to poke bears with that kind of dialogue, sir… it’s taunting. I REALLY LIKE the new leaf that Pigster has turned over, and I applaud him, even if I disagree with him. Civility gets more done than does name-calling, my friend.

  28. pheloniusphish says:

I think mail in voting with controls a la GA is fine within reason. We shouldn’t have an Election Day, we should have an election month. Then there wouldn’t be a need for widespread mail in voting.

  33. The Flying Pig says:

When our government gets serious about border security, voting security, and restrictions for busing, bribing, canvasing, and other forms of voter fraud, I’ll get more on board with mail in voting.

    ******
    New Age,

You shouldn’t need your govt to agree with you about about border patrol to consider mail in voting. I don’t get that logic at all

What’s wrong with busing people or providing transportation to the polls? What on earth is wrong with giving people rides. What exactly do you guys think is going on in these busses….lol

The whole concept is crazy to me

You think all these things lead to fraud so you want to stop those things even when they overwhelming lead to legitimate voting as well

You are not attacking the fraud, you are attacking everything else bc maybe there’s a chance of fraud…

Do we do that anywhere else?

Do we stop everyone people from banking bc some one’s forged a check once

Do we stop people from eating chicken bc some one choked on a chicken bone once

If you want to stop fraud – you attack the fraud, you don’t attack voting or make it hard to vote. You prosecute the actual fraud. Just like you would if some one passes a bad check – you don’t make it harder for everyone to obtain checks…wtf is with that logic.

Not addressing voter fraud directly limiting voting options isn’t going to stop fraud anywhere near as effectively as punishing fraud would. It’s just obstructing legitimate voting by legitimate voters

And the reality is the guy that lead this charge (trump) and was burdened with proving that fraud overwhelming tanked when asked to do that. He had more money and more lawyers working for him than anyone else ever will – and with all that at his disposal he repeatedly lost in court

You can quote whatever study you want. I guaranty it pales in comparison to how often the losing side accuses the other side of cheating when they can’t accept defeat. That’s always going to be more prevalent than the existence of fraud.

The reality is no party is likely to benefit more or less if the fraud you fear actually exists at widespread levels. It’s just as advantageous to Democrats as it is to Republicans. So why are republicans so hell bent on stopping mail in voting? I believe – What they end up doing is increasing the likelihood that they will lose Elections. Thats a prediction/opinion. It’s not a fact – I have to carefully say that now.

That’s the point I was making earlier

If you tell your audience not to vote by mail, it’s clearly going to discourage them to vote by mail – it certainly won’t discourage your opponents audience…

If you tell your audience there is widespread fraud, your audience may think their vote doesn’t matter, and that’s going to hurt your own party’s voter turnout – not the other side.

Republicans should be embracing 74 million people voting for Trump last November – that is in part, a product of mail in voting and early voting as well. I’m pretty sure that the highest amount of the losing side ever.

Instead republicans went in this direction of making mail in voting harder for everyone. They are on the cusp of winning a few states in heated contests and they are taking steps that will inevitably lead to lower turnout numbers.

If that dynamic continues – who do you think is going to get substantially more mail in votes in 2022 and 2024?

It’s counterproductive. Forget the ideology of it. Republicans are making mail in voting a disadvantage. The harm is self-inflicted

    • pheloniusphish says:

You forgot, Do we take away everyone’s guns because some crazy shoots some people?

    • pheloniusphish says:

How did they make mail in voting harder?

      • The Flying Pig says:

This isnt meant to be solely about the GA law. New age is arguing that mail in voting is vulnerable to fraud. Im sure you’ve heard many general arguments by Republicans about mail in voting, I know I have.

But specifically in ga, the new law decreases drop from 94 to 23 in Atlanta. Those drop boxes are not available as often as they were before. The request period was reduced from 25 weeks before election to 11 weeks and the deadline is now 11 days rather than the Friday before and of course the proof of ID portion of the law requires some one to provide license number before the request. Before everyone jumps down my throat about ID, I will just say I’m less inclined to argue that the actual requirement of an id is a practical problem. I have issues with it but not like the other stuff.

      • Ken says:

Not every voter is a licensed driver especially in urban areas

      • The Flying Pig says:

Yeah but you can have an ID number without a license

I did read that 3% of Georgians don’t have a license or ID. So it’s a significant amount of people affected.

      • pheloniusphish says:

Under the Georgia law there are alternatives to DL and state issued ID. Last four of your social, current utility bill, etc. The reduction from 25 weeks to 11 weeks is for run off elections not the general election. They want to get a conclusion sooner and to mitigate outside money. Drop boxes are 1 per 100,000. Don’t know how or why that number was decided on. Mostly they have to be under the control and supervision of election officials now.

      • The Flying Pig says:

The runoff time was reduced too

But that reduction from 25 weeks to 11 weeks is about the request for absentee not just runoffs

I know about that 100000 cap on drop boxes, but the result is, it drastically reduced the drop boxes in Atlanta

I personally don’t know why the number is down to 23, that’s what I read and it’s an estimate of what will occur. But if you are using the population of Atlanta Metro wHich I think is closer to 5 million. it should be still be a significant reduction of drop boxes down to about 50 from 94.

  34. mf13ss says:

So here’s my problem… we’ve got Will Fuller here on a 1-year deal. Dude has an injury history, but when healthy, he’s ELITE. What if he gets injured AGAIN, and we decide to not re-sign him next year? Or what if he’s healthy, and he just doesn’t pan out? Or what if he balls out this year?

In many ways, Jaylen Waddle is Fuller’s insurance policy. What’s more, what could it hurt to have two STUDS who are burners for Tua’s future?

Some/many feel Tua’s success at Alabama was based on the speed options of Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs, right? So why not draft another burner like Waddle, with whom Tua is familiar with, right?

I foresee the Broncos @ R1P9 as our “last chance saloon” to trade down to (acquiring more picks), being they may want to leap to R1P6 to secure a QB… and we don’t want to be out of the top-10.

MANY have speculated recently that Jeudy could be part of that trade. But in doing that, we wouldn’t be drafting Waddle, presumably.

Maybe we could come away with Jeudy in the trade down to R1P9, select Micah Parsons @ R1P9, and then draft our RB @ R1P18?

What do y’all think about that?

    • Ken says:

Totally agree we need more speed at WR than just Fuller

    • Tim Knight says:

All QBs benefit from the talent around them. Speed kills. I would have no problem with Waddle because I think he’s going to be really good in the NFL. But do we take him at #6 or trade up from #18 for him, because I don’t think he’ll last that long. He could though. CeeDee Lamb dropped to #17 last year and many thought he’d go earlier.

  35. Ken says:

Voter fraud has been studied for many years by several administrations. The fact is that they can’t find any evidence of widespread voter fraud. Yes individual cases have been discovered but nothing of any magnitude that could have affected an election result. Mail in voting has been in use in this country for many years. In some states it is the exclusive means of voting. There is zero evidence that it has been subject to widespread fraud

  36. Mike E. says:

I didn’t really want to vote for him but I still preferred him over the alternative.

  37. mf13ss says:

So here’s where I’m at (boy, this would be NICETY!)…

Trade down to the Broncos @ R1P9 in exchange for Jerry Jeudy and a pick (2nd or 3rd rounder?)
    R1P9: Micah Parsons
R1P18: Najee Harris or Javonte Williams (your choice!)
    R2P4: your choice!

    • Ken says:

Jeudy was a bit of disappointment this year with lots of drops. I think we can do better in the draft

    • mf13ss says:

Quite honestly, I think Drew Lock sucks… and ol’ Horse Face (John Elway) stepped away from his GM role for obvious reasons. I think Jerry Jeudy gets a mulligan for his rookie season… and to reunite him with Tua could be WOAH!

      • Ken says:

Lock didn’t help anything but not sure that was all of Jeudy’s problems. I wouldn’t want to give up too much for him at this point but I also see your point about reuniting him with Tua

      • Tim Knight says:

Just draft Waddle then. He can also be a dangerous return man. You find ways to get the ball in his hands with that explosiveness – receiving, returns and jet sweeps etc.

Another thing is Tua is a good voice for both Waddle and Smith because he played with them. That’s valuable for the FO and coaches.

    • bailbondmike says:

I would rather reunite Smith or Waddle with Tua than Jeudy.

  38. Krishna says:

I don’t think Tua needs chemistry with a college whatever.

Tua needs WRs, TEs, a solid OL, and 3 down RB, just like every successful QB, and HOFer QBs has had. LMAO!

    • Tim Knight says:

LOL, yep! But it doesn’t hurt that he knows them well and two are available in the draft along with Najee Harris at RB.

I suppose you could call this a fallback option if the Falcons take Kyle Pitts @ R1P4 and the Bengals take Ja’Marr Chase @ R1P5. NEVERTHELESS, this (at least IMO) could be the perfect first option, as well.

    • The Flying Pig says:

Going to be hard to pull of another trade down.

I’m not against it, but Im guessing that the Dolphins have a 3rd in mind that isn’t chase or Pitts

      Maybe Smith or waddle

      • mf13ss says:

To be honest with ya? I agree: I doubt it happens. I’m just trying to find a way to get Micah Parsons, along with a STUD WR… AND a STUD RB.

I’m trying to milk this mofo for all it’s worth, bud!!!

      • pheloniusphish says:

        His name is Parsons.

      • The Flying Pig says:

You basically need Micah to fall from about 9 to 18
It’s a small window but it can happen

Give Micah a gas mask now! 😜

    • bailbondmike says:

If we missed Pitts at #6 and can get #9, Jeudy, and #40 for #6, I could go for that.

  40. pheloniusphish says:

I still think they go heavy D at the top of the draft.

    • Tim Knight says:

I think we go one offense and one defense with our two 1st rounders. Maybe do the same in the 2nd. Add two prospects to both sides of the ball. That coincides with the young players we already have that need to take the next step. We should be better than last year.

    • The Flying Pig says:

If by top of draft you mean 2nd round….I agree

But I think they might go the way of the Steelers and look for tj watt types in the 2nd round

Guy like Van Ginkle and Beagle have been productive with Flores, we don’t need top shelf talent on the edge

Of course if Micah parsons somehow falls to 28 – that’s different, you have to take that

But after that, it seems picking a pass rusher there is as good as it is at 36. If they really like some one….maybe

Also, jabril Cox. Who’s not expected to go in the first may be the best coverage LB in the draft, so if they are looking for a coverage LB – they might be able to wait until day 2

  41. Tim Knight says:

I think Grier and Flores feel good about 6 prospects and that’s why they did what they did. They know at least 3 QBs are going top 3 and it could be more before we pick. Who are they honing in on? That is the question. 😉

  42. Krishna says:

BPA at 6 and it will be a need. I hope it’s……

I love D and think we need to be bad ass.

We need to knock it out of the park with 5 of top 100 picks….imho.

  43. Tim Knight says:

Piggy, the thing that keeps coming back to me is when we can’t get to Josh Allen, Parsons jumps out at me. We’re going to be facing him for many years to come. You have to beat your division. Josh Allen is the best player in the division right now. I don’t think Flores wants to be in 41-38 shootout games. He wants to keep the game manageable 27-24. Then the next step is Mahomes and the Chiefs. We all saw how the Bucs beat the Chiefs. Constant pressure on Mahomes.

  44. bailbondmike says:

    Could you imagine if:
    #6 Pitts
    #18 Parsons
    #36 Harris/Williams
    #50 Tryon/Cox

    • bailbondmike says:

and NO! At #50 we are not drafting a strap on!

    • Tim Knight says:

That would be good. Very good. 🙂

I think the Pats will take Parsons at #15 if he’s there though. We both play the same schemes on defense and Parsons fits it to a tee. The LBs move all over the place. The Pats loaded up on offense in FA.

We need speed on both sides of the ball. All AFC teams know you have to pressure Mahomes and Allen to beat them, and make some big plays on offense.

Our base defense, we know we mix it up in nickel and dime. We have talent for that too.

Yeah, let’s post 2 comments Trump made about Epstein 19 years ago, whom he had not talked to in over 15 years, whom Trump banned from Mar A Lago in 2007 because Epstein was hitting on a 14yo daughter of another member, whom was arrested and sentenced a year later for soliciting sex from a 14 yo prostitute and had to serve an 18 month sentence.

Why don’t you ask Bill Clinton who flew on Epstein’s private jet 20+ times? Clinton who continued to fly with Epstein on his jet several times after Epstein was banned by Trump from Mar A Lago and after Epstein was convicted of soliciting sex from a 14 yo prostitute.

If anyone knows “what does that mean”, it would be Slick Willy, The Chief Sexecutive, The Commander-In-Briefs, Puffy the Intern Slayer, The Unabanger, Swallow the Leader or whatever name you remember him by.

You are so bias that it doesn’t bother you that your VP Kamala teamed up with Slick Willy to discuss women empowerment. WTF!

Actually, that move by Kamala does not surprise me though. From someone who sucked and fucked her way to the top, she sees eye-to-eye with Puffy the Intern Slayer when it comes to
    women empowerment.

Alright, nuff said. Going to search for football news now.

    • David Collins says:

defending comments about having fun with pedophiles, WHY?

      thats SICK

      • David Collins says:

BTW< i didnt vote for Bill either, he is ALSO a guy like T**** that had fun with pedophiles like epstein

    • stangerx says:

BBM — conspiracy theories don’t just come from the left. Yeah Trump and Epstein hung out at one point, but that is all anyone knows. As you point out same comes for Clinton.

Seems Prince Andrew is the one who might have done so in a dirty way. But no one ever mentions him, guess cause he’s neither a Rep nor a Dem.

  62. David Collins says:

BBM< You a Matt Gaetz supporter too? hes a rep in your area
or do you feel he should resign?

i think he should resign, and face the music for all he has done

    • The Flying Pig says:

I think it’s up to him whether he wants to resign or take the heat

I’m not a huge fan of demanding resignations from elected officials

Don’t get me wrong, his political cReer is probably over. But let the his constituents decide if he is their guy in the next election.

If he goes to jail, that’s a different story – then he needs to be removed if he doesn’t resign. But he’s got a right to a trial just light anyone else

The only legit debate to demanding resignations IMO is by other republicans who are trying to preserve their brand

But honestly I don’t like it when everyone gangs up and demands resignation

It’s not like he’s a senator with a 6 year term. He will be up for re-election in a year – let his constituents decide his fate in politics and the criminal system decide his fate in terms of prison

In the meantime I suspect he keeps a low profile

      • stangerx says:

Thought Gaetz was an A-hole even before this came out, but agree. He hasn’t even been charged with anything yet.

Gonna have to be something real serious for him not to get re-elected though. Comes from a Trump as Trump district.

      • The Flying Pig says:

Oh I know he’s an ahole

But it’s not up to me to decide if the panhandle wants an ahole office

My understanding is that he was thinking about running for senate or governor – that ship has probably sailed

But yeah I agree, he’s winning the last by huge margins so he’s probably win again. And if he isnt convicted of anything, why shouldn’t he if his constituents want him as their rep.

I’ll just have to revert to calling him an ahole Twitter

I may not like the guy, but I really like a representative govt, and it’s just not for me to tell the panhandle who their rep is

  63. David Collins says:

Battling anonymous leaks that he had sex with a minor or had paid prostitutes, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) appeared at Trump National Doral Miami on Friday night , and spoke to the pro-Trump Women for America First, delivering a speech aimed just as much at the crowd as the bank of TV cameras ,,,.

the shit keeps getting weirder,,,SMH he should resign, before he uses any more taxpayers dollars on Venmo to help/harm women

  64. The Flying Pig says:

Not sure if I can tell this guy my own woes without crying

    • stangerx says:

Dude wasn’t so smart about it…. so don’t feel real sorry for him. Fitz and Rosen were never guaranteed to be here more than a season.

My new one is Jason Sanders, and didn’t pull the trigger on that till he signed a long-term contract

  65. steveccnv says:

    Gotta match, besides your face…🤪

  66. steveccnv says:

Been looking at Etienne this more after reading Fansided saying he’s their RB1.

Don’t see that, but he’s right there with Najee and Williams.

They say he’s a willing blocker, which to me is like saying we have competitive prices (in other words our prices are competitive with those other high priced companies), he’s really not.

You can see he wiffs a lot when blocking, then the next play is a run to him, that the lights come on for.

Any of the 3 will do especially after rd 1

    • The Flying Pig says:

      He’s my #3

I think if you draft him you just have to have a plan for a guy who doesn’t really run btw tackles so much

In the right offense he can be explosive

      • steveccnv says:

I think he’s underrated between the tackles, better than Drake, but not exactly a between the tackles runner.

Michael Carter is a college RB, he’s too slow 4.50 for 5′ 7.5″, think there’s better RBs that will be better pros. And his blocking is bad

      • steveccnv says:

And when it’s short yardage you can also throw out that he can’t run between the tackles

  67. stangerx says:

Sorta nice to have your money going to players on the field.

    • steveccnv says:

Realistically that number should be 5m, because of the trade for Benardrick. Lawson’s cap hit before trade vs Benardrick’s is almost identical and we got a better fit player.

But you can’t just look at dead money and compare 2019 to 2021 straight up, because we traded Tunsil, Stills, and Tannehill, which was a large portion of it, you also have to consider it was part of a full rebuild.

It’s true we’ve fixed the dead money I just like some clarification with it

      • stangerx says:

There were reasons for each dollar in dead cap before, still nice to be past it. Advantage of a young team and all those one-year contracts is shouldn’t be too much more of it, least for a while.

    • Tim Knight says:

Suh was still dead cap in 2019. We finally got past all of those big contracts we moved on from.

  68. Phindog says:

SBJ… Every time I read a post from a shortbus riding helmet wearing window licking calf diddler, My IQ drops 75%

  69. Tim Knight says:

David needs to get past his TDS and move on.

  70. bailbondmike says:

    Battling anonymous leaks
    ————————
Damn, y’all sure are judge and jury before anything is proven when it comes to any republican.

Then turn a blind eye when it comes to Biden and Tara Reade. This is a real person and not an anonymous source. She has been crying out only to be heard by deaf ears on the left. “The trauma I experienced by Biden was very real. The fact he is calling for another official’s (Cuomo) investigation and possible criminal sanctions for similar charges is showing the height of arrogance about never being accountable for his own.”

I guess if we went by David’s logic, Biden should be impeached NOW!
    —————————–
If this comes out to be true, the man needs to go down!

There are also allegations out there that this is an attempt at extortion and drummed up to blemish his career as he was on the rise in the rep party. That is also being investigated.

Sure LOOKS like there may be dirt there but nothing has been proven. We don’t even know who these “sources” are.
    —————
We better jump the gun and remove him from office though. Maybe if he didn’t look like some perverted preacher you have seen on the news before ya’ll wouldn’t be so quick to terminate him and let there be an investigation.

    • Tim Knight says:

Politics is a team sport now. My team good, your team bad regardless of what’s going on. It’s pretty pathetic.

      • bailbondmike says:

Good way to put it. So, in that case, the way I view it is the republicans are the Dolphins and the democrats are a team with a roster made up of Pats, Jets, and Bills with Adam Gase as Joe Biden (see Taco video) and the evil genius is Nancy Pelosi. It all makes sense to me now. lol

    • stangerx says:

BBM — could not agree more, except the Tara Reade stuff was real kooky…. which is why it went away.

When you say “y’all” though you are just talking to David. Even our liberal Pig said not enough now.

      • steveccnv says:

That’s not why it went away

      • stangerx says:

It’s why it did in my mind….. read a bunch of articles. Do you know why it did? The amassed media including from the right was focused on it.

  71. steveccnv says:

My only hangup on Najee at 18 is, was he really that good or as I see on tape was it that OL.

He’s a jack of all trades, but does he master anything?

  72. bailbondmike says:

This is an interesting article. Not so much as being about fields but evaluating QB’s in regard to reading the defense and going through progressions. Mac Jones went through his progressions the least of any of the top 10 QB’s and Fields the most. This does does not mean one thing or another as there are so many other factors involved. It was the only football news I found worthy of you all. 😉

    https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/justin-fields-progressions-first-read-analysis

  73. stangerx says:

How funny — we are talking about Matt Gaetz and he sends me an e-mail. Am sure cause give to other Republican candidates., but never got from him before.
    —————————-
    Friend,

Here we go again…just another media hoax. Do you remember the fake Russia Hoax? Their attempt to frame General Flynn? I do… and now they are coming for me.

They have smeared my name while creating another partisan witch hunt, all because I dared to stand up to them.

Even President Trump is fighting back:

I will not back down from the Fake News hacks that want to destroy me and America-First patriots like you. I am more determined than ever to shut down this HOAX, and I am glad to have President Trump on my side.

The D.C. Swamp protects its own, and their media puppets are going all-out with fake, salacious stories to try to take me down. These are the actions of a corrupt Establishment that is seeking to take out Trump supporters…BUT I WON’T BACK DOWN.

You can help President Trump and I fight back against the fake news media RIGHT NOW!

  74. Tim Knight says:

This blog is becoming littered with a lot of nonsense.

Mike E, despite all your efforts to write Dolphins related articles, I don’t know why you even bother anymore. Just put up a new article from time to time that simply says “Whatever!”.

    • Mike E. says:

The political stuff can definitely take over the blog at times which is unfortunate but I’ve been guilty of that myself, so I can’t really complain. This is what we are I guess. We can’t even agree on what to do with the team we all root for so it’s no surprise we can’t see eye to eye on other things in life. Guess the best way to handle is just ignore the politics if you can and try to steer the convo back to football. I wish I had more time to go on here but I can’t do it at work at all, no time and no access to a computer. When I get home I don’t have much time either. In the morning before work is my best opportunity, and my days off of course. Was really hoping to sit down and catch a Met game and of course it got rained out. Sucks!

      • Tim Knight says:

Oh yeah I get all of that. I’ve tried to turn it to football recently and it basically gets lost. You may or may not have noticed, but when the topics get so self absorbed about what people are concerned about in the world, you don’t see me here because it’s worse than watching the news. I’ll log on and say nope, not today.

I’m not telling anyone what to talk about or anything like that, just sharing my self absorbed feeling that it’s a drag. I can do this on FB with people I know who can’t talk about cooking a steak without injecting politics into it. LOL

    • steveccnv says:

I said we should do that 10 years ago Tim.

The original board on the SS around 2000 (I believe I’m the only one left, FFR, Myth99, and Phinmanski posted there) was just a place to post with no article, then they changed it to have different threads, then to the format we all hooked up on

  75. David Collins says:

Mike, among all the unpleasant talk, i did put in a kudos to You, You are on it, thanks!

    this from fansided,,

We know who is going to Jacksonville, have a pretty darn good idea of who is going to the Jets, and we know that the 49’ers are drafting a quarterback as well. What we don’t know is what Atlanta and Cincinnati are going to do.

Rumors have been running now for a week or so about the Falcons wanting to move out of the four spot. No one is talking about the Bengals trying to move out of five and with good reason. The Bengals are not taking a QB and more than likely want either Ja’Marr Chase or Penei Sewell, maybe Kyle Pitts. The same trio that Miami presumably is interested in.

But Atlanta. The Falcons could trade out, they could draft a quarterback, or they could take Pitts. The Dolphins could find themselves moving again depending on what the Falcons do. If they take Pitts, I would venture to guess that the Dolphins will be more willing to move down from six. Quarterback needs for many teams may see the Dolphins reap a bounty of selections depending on how far down they drop.

  76. David Collins says:

i was thinking the same thing, if We cant get Pitts, be open to trade down offers, no one besides Pitts is MUST HAVE imo, there are alot of middle first round talents that can help this team

  77. Mike E. says:

There’s nothing wrong with the format here Steve. I don’t mind writing the articles and I completely understand that the majority of the comments will end up having nothing to do with the spirit of the article. This is what life is in 2021, with such a heated political climate. This is and always was just another form of social media, and although it’s a football blog, life dictates that these things will get discussed because it’s become a lot like 2 sides have formed and lines have been drawn in the sand.

    • stangerx says:

This place is like your favorite bar where you know the regulars. You sit down and talk. Always comes back to the Phins though.

    • steveccnv says:

I never said there was, it was just a suggestion to take a load off. At the time people were asking everyone to take a turn writing articles, so I made the suggestion to go articless, if you want to write articles please continue to do so, if you don’t we’ll all understand and carry on as we are now

  78. The Flying Pig says:

Im pretty sure M13 has mentioned this guy. If we are looking for a pass rushing specialist, here he is

    • steveccnv says:

      He’s overrated, no quick twitch

    • Tim Knight says:

You mention prospects and someone always says yeah but he sucks at this or that. Everyone wants the perfect prospect. Sometimes you draft a guy to play a major role in what you want to do. This guy is here to rush off the edge. This guy is here because he can break a big play at anytime and score a TD. They’re not always great at everything.

I’m pretty sure most of us fans believe we need more speed to attack the backfield on defense, and to attack defenses vertically. Being able to get 1-2 yards in the run game when we need to would be nice too. That’s what will make us a top contender.

  79. David Collins says:

Broncos pick at 9, they actually were interested in Darnold, they must be desperate for QB, lol

the Fins could trade with Denver to 9, and still get a top ten talent in the draft, and likely pick up another first rounder next year, and additional mid round pick or two this year

    • Tim Knight says:

No don’t trade down with Denver, we want them to trade up before us with ATL and take the 4th QB. 🙂

  80. The Flying Pig says:

  81. David Collins says:

i was thinking Phillips might slide to late in the first round because of his injury history, not sure we should pass on Paye or Rousseau at 18 if they are on the board

  82. The Flying Pig says:

    6: R1 P6 WR Ja’Marr Chase – LSU
    18: R1 P18 LB Micah Parsons – Penn State
    36: R2 P4 RB Najee Harris – Alabama
    50: R2 P18 LB Jabril Cox – LSU
    81: R3 P17 DL Marlon Tuipulotu – USC
    156: R5 P12 C Michal Menet – Penn State
    231: R7 P3 S Mark Webb – Georgia
    258: R7 P30 G Tristen Hoge – BYU

  83. Mike E. says:

Agree with Tim, we went back to 6 to have the flexibility of getting one of possibly 3 players. We could have either stayed put at #3, or #12 if that weren’t the case. I don’t think we’re locked in on any one player

  84. David Collins says:

if Miami gets Pitts at 6, I would be open to Najee Harris for 18, that would round out the playmakers needed for the offense

  85. David Collins says:

its possible Falcons take Pitts, and Bengals take Chase, what to do then? Sewell or trade down?

  86. David Collins says:

Chris Grier and Co-offensive coordinator George Godsey in deep conversation with LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

    https://www.thephinsider.com/2021/4/11/22378590/2021-nfl-draft-caption-this-chris-grier-george-godsey-meet-jamarr-chase-lsus-pro-day-miami-dolphins

  87. Mike E. says:

NFL.com Lance Zierlein compares Ja’Marr Chase to Torry Holt. I’ll take Torry Holt’s career here for Miami for the next 10 years!

    • Tim Knight says:

I don’t agree. Tory Holt was a speedster. I think Chase is more of a possession guy who can make big plays because he’s a smooth route runner who gets open and can be physical and high point the ball.

      • Mike E. says:

Torry Holt ran a 4.4 40 at his combine. Chase ran a 4.39. They are the same size and weight, and both run well after the catch. I think Holt may have been more of a finesse guy than Chase is but I expect that Chase will have a nice YPR average like Holt when all is said and done.

      • Tim Knight says:

I don’t see the same speed. Chase is a pro day 4.39 guy. It’s like saying every pitcher in baseball today throws it like Nolan Ryan. It’s BS.

  88. David Collins says:

When looking at the tape, David Carr of The NFL Network compares Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa favorably to San Francisco 49ers legend Steve Young.

“When you look at the film, you see similarities, and you see why people get excited and why the Miami Dolphins are excited,” Carr said. “He looks like Steve Young. I mean, that’s the guy he is going to turn into. It’s just going to take a little time.
    https://fansided.com/2021/04/10/dolphins-david-carr-steve-young-tua-tagovailoa/

    • David Collins says:

of course, it took Young several years before he really started looking great, hopefully Tua catches on faster

      • steveccnv says:

They may look the same, but they don’t have the same traits. Young, big arm, 6’2″, wild man running the ball, not the quickest release, never felt he read a D above avg…

They’re both left handed that’s it

  89. Mike E. says:

Something else to consider. Sewell is Samoan, like Tua. Also, having Sewell and Jackson as bookends would undoubtedly be the youngest tackle tandem in the NFL at 21 (Jackson) and 20 (Sewell).

    • David Collins says:

good point, a young offensive line, that could have at least 3 years working together on their rookie contracts

      • David Collins says:

also likely the Dolphins select a Center also, so that would make our OL very young

  90. Tim Knight says:

Isn’t it funny how having lots of high draft picks is now a negative of being too young. It never ends. LOL

  91. Tim Knight says:

We stay at #6 with what we know and how the top 3 will probably go, who do you think the Dolphins pick?

    • steveccnv says:

Pitts, Denver takes a QB at 4, and Cincinnati takes Sewell.

I think Pitts going 4 and Chase going 5 is smokescreen

      • Tim Knight says:

I agree, Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, Jones and Lance are in the mix. Teams can’t ignore QBs if they feel they need one.

  92. Rockphin says:

    Team Picks
    6: R1 P6 TE Kyle Pitts – Florida
    18: R1 P18 LB Micah Parsons – Penn State
    36: R2 P4 LB Zaven Collins – Tulsa
    50: R2 P18 RB Javonte Williams – North Carolina
    89: R3 P25 C Josh Myers – Ohio State
    110: R4 P5 WR Tylan Wallace – Oklahoma State
    156: R5 P12 DL Khyiris Tonga – BYU
231: R7 P3 EDGE Hamilcar Rashed Jr. – Oregon State
    258: R7 P30 G Jack Anderson – Texas Tech

    Take that mocksters

  93. Mike E. says:

Who’s this edge guy Cameltoe Rashed?

    • Rockphin says:

      6’3″ 254LB

Hamilcar Rashed Jr. aligns as an EDGE defender for the Beavers defense. He demonstrates good athleticism in his ability to play on his feet and also to rush off the edge. His mobility and flexibility afford him the versatility to be used all over the defensive front. He demonstrates his explosion as a chase player on the backside of run plays and he plays the game with a relentless motor. He is raw as a pass rusher and needs to refine his overall technique and hand usage. This will only maximize his natural athleticism and make him more effective regardless of the opponent.

Ideal Role: Sub-package edge rusher who could develop into an NFL starter for some teams with time and pro coaching.

Scheme Fit: Odd front defensive scheme with hybrid principles in sub-package situations.

  94. Tim Knight says:

Don’t sleep on Kwity Paye. He’s high on a lot of draft boards. Not at #6, but a 1st round pick.

I know some here have said no thanks, but why?

    • David Collins says:

i think he would be fine at 18, but only one way to find out, lol

    • steveccnv says:

He sucks, he’s slow twitch, he’s not even on the Seiler level. I like Seiler a lot, but he wouldn’t go in the 1st 2 rounds

      • Tim Knight says:

But he’s in the mid 1st round everywhere you look. What’s up scout Steve? 😉

      • steveccnv says:

He’s not for us, we already have 6 vets on the DL, yet every mock I remember here we pick a DL, Wilkins, Seiler, Jenkins, Ogbah, Butler and Davis. We also have Strowbridge and Benito Jones.

We’ll only keep 6 or 7 DL, we already have that.

Paye plays with his hand in the dirt, we need an OLB, that can get quick pressure on the QB, he’s not that.

You could say we need a downlineman, that can get pressure quickly, but Phillips is the only one in this draft that is an upgrade and he’s a walking CTE

  95. Rockphin says:

LOL Tim I can’t help it
Trades are like Crack for me. Worse because I like Trades.

  96. The Flying Pig says:

He played over 60% of his snaps fro the slot
So he’s pretty versatile and is the kind of war we should look at later if we take Pitts and not a WR at 6

  97. David Collins says:

if Falcons take Trey Lance, then that means that Kyle Pitts is likely on the board at 6

  98. The Flying Pig says:

Here is a interesting day 3 prospect.

If you draft him you are thinking slot and gadget plays
I know we brought in a couple of guys last year but I was underwhelmed
