Dolphins news, roster moves

After drafting Safety Jevon Holland with the 36th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, that may have just sealed Bobby McCain’s fate as a Miami Dolphins player. Good Ole Bobby McCain spent the last 6 years with the Dolphins as a defensive back playing CB outside, quite a bit inside in the slot, and both safety spots, FS and SS. I always liked Bobby McCain but he doesn’t fir the Flores prototype, at 5’11, which I believe may be generous. I always defended him here, he played with a bad shoulder and always gave his all, so I appreciate what he did on the field for our team, even it wasn’t always top notch play.

After releasing Bobby McCain, Brian Flores plucked another familiar face off the FA scrapheap in former Patriots S Jason McCourty. McCourty will be 34 years old at the start of the 2021 season, so I’m not sure how much playing time he will get, but he’s a consummate professional who knows how to play the game, and his position. Jevon Holland can learn much from his professionalism and pick his brain so to speak. McCourty is a 12 year veteran who played 8 years with the Tennessee Titans who drafted him in the 6th RD of the 2009 Draft. He then played 1 season with the Cleveland Browns and the last 3 with the New England Patriots.

    David,

I said, “how long have we heard that Miami Beach will be under water?”. I was talking about what your people (kook-scientists like Al Gore, Bill Nye, and the like even before them) said it was going to be… in 1990, then 2000, then 2010(12), and even now in the 2020s.

Is it underwater? Can somebody from Miami Beach tell me if it’s underwater yet? Is it even close?
THAT’S what I’m talking about with “Chicken Little”… and under the guise of “real science”.

Fortunately, you’re talking to a TRUE scientific mind in me, David. And I’m here to tell you that it was all GARBAGE they were selling to you.

Now then, that does NOT mean we shouldn’t be fellow caretakers of this Earth (I’m one of the few who actually capitalizes the “E” in “Earth”). I’m ALL FOR responsible matters, such as recycling, limiting BIG BIZ from polluting our Earth with industrial waste, and for finding a new energy source (we’ve found it, problem is, BIG BIZ/OIL keeps killing these people off… I know).

Just PLEASE don’t tell me the liberal line that Miami Beach will be under water in 1990… it didn’t happen then, it isn’t happening now, and it’s not going to happen for many, many centuries from now.

We’re on the downside (meaning, we’re getting closer) to a new Ice Age, if ya didn’t know. It’s a cyclical matter (historical, for that matter), and man can’t stop what’s coming from the Sun, our natural and elliptical orbit around it, nor our own solar system having a yet observable orbit around the gravitational pulls within our own galaxy. It only gets DEEPER after that.

You’ll become wiser once ya realize that American Democrats have made a total sham of science. And it’s VERY, very sad, my friend.

    • David Collins says:

lolol yea ok, you are the one thats attacking science, not Me

i live her bro, i can SEE the sea level rising, come down and live her for awhile and see for yourself if You doubt reality

i never said Miami beach will be underwater in 1990, and dont care if anyone did or not

but the sea is causing HUGE problems for Miami Beach, and MIllions of dollars are being spent to fight it with higher sea walls, pumps, etc

i used to do water damage work in southeast FL, even did the Barry University library when computers were floating in sea water

yea, i cant erase a lifetime of noticing sea level problemss, losing condos to storms, etc

because someone in PA says its not happening

i have to go with reality, politics pointed YOU wrong, water never lies, its either wet or dry, lol

in water damage restoration, the money is made, when things are WET, lol

Ya know Martha’s Vineyard, where the Obama’s just spent $$$$$M on a new house? That will be gone, too, in a few years. LOL

      • Marinofan13 says:

Let us hope so, my friend! In the meantime, it’s on US to stop the NEW BIlls from getting there!

    • Tim Knight says:

Not really sure what that means. When you see this stuff with your own eyes it’s not politics, it’s nature on earth and humans play a big role in it. Not just thousands of politicians, but billions of people.

Humans are suppose to be the stewards of the earth because we deem ourselves as the most intelligent species. But we always go too far with greed. It’s escalating on all fronts. We’re seeing it live everyday.

why would You ignore stories of FL natives that are losing dry ground, homes, etc to sea level rise?

why did my bass go away, and snapper show up behind my property, they were in on a conspiracy? they are just fish, lol
we arent in on some conspiracy, this is everyday life in FL, and in southern Louisiana

    • Marinofan13 says:

David, you’re missing the entire point, my dude!!! *doh*!!!

      • Marinofan13 says:

And now I’m going to hear from many other blogger to just NOT engage you. That’s what I get for talking to you. You continue to miss the most obvious of points, and continue on whatever your mission is.

    • David Collins says:

whats the point?, ill sit back and listen

      • David Collins says:

attacking me for fishing, falsely claiming i have a mission, what else ya got

i thought You had a point about sea level rise in there somewhere?

    • Marinofan13 says:

Have you ever considered ‘over-fishing’ in the bays of the world? It’s a SERIOUS problem. How about you stop fishing for sport.

      • David Collins says:

btw , i will fish anytime i want, anywhere i want, holding a FL fishing license means that noone in PA can tell You not to fish
but what was your point on sea level rise?

    • David Collins says:

the floor is yours to explain Your point, i have no mission

It's not your 'global warming' or 'climate change' conspiracy, it's OVER-FISHING.

    • David Collins says:

thats what is making the sea level rise? LOLOLOL we need to find something else to talk about, this is insane IMO

      it doesnt work that way

      • Marinofan13 says:

I’m talking about being responsible about our ecosystem, and as it pertained to your lack of bass. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

    • Marinofan13 says:

And I’m talking about the BIG BIZ factor of fishing. Tuna is becoming scarce, whales and dolphins are still being killing in your Far East for ‘medicinal purposes’ (same as the Bengal Tiger is being hunted to extinction), and the food chain is going bad as a result.

Yeah, let’s blame it on ‘climate’… WTF!!!

      • steveccnv says:

You can’t talk climate with him, it’s like you’re talking to al gore

      • David Collins says:

everything You describe is true, man made those problems for sure

but man is also destroying the environment, and contributing to climate change and sea level rise

you said that man has ruined animals, and thats true, but man has also ruined much more, we are a resource hungry world, with little thought given to our grandchildren, and the flora and fauna

      • David Collins says:

steve is another FL native that lost his home to sea level rise, listen to him, lololol

  14. steveccnv says:

We play back to back games in weeks 7 and 8 against teams coming off of a bye Atl and Buff, then week 17 coming off of Monday Night we play AT Tenn coming off of a TNF game.

Our games off of a bye and mini bye we play the jets both times.

In our favor is 9 home games and 7 true road games.

Schedule seems good except the 3 games against teams with extra rest.

After week 8 we have Balt and Tenn, the rest are all fairly favorable

  15. David Collins says:

we will have to agree to disagree MF

  16. Marinofan13 says:

David, and before somebody says WTF!!! to you, Brah…

Your lack of bass isn’t about climate change. We humans are over-hunting the fish population. It’s well documented, and it’s a problem not enough are talking about.

    • David Collins says:

thats not it at all, i have had this property and KNOW about it, You know nothing of this property
You dont know how much development has sucked this river dry, unfortunately i do
You cant see the dock with the water levels, i can, come on over, lol

also i KNOW the difference between saltwater and freshwater, and can identify the different fish species with no problem

You cant identify the history of this property from another state IMO, You would actually need to be there

      • Marinofan13 says:

I can’t disagree with you on that, David… nor am I trying to, sir. But tell me… when is Miami Beach going to be under water? And by how much water? And will you agree that Al Gore insanely lied to you to get your vote?

        im out

You’re a good man, David. I will ALWAYS respect you as a friend. Just realize that it’s alright to disagree. Thank you for your prayers earlier to me, it meant something to me, man.

        1-LUV

  19. Tim Knight says:

I don’t know what to say other than David is right on water levels to areas below sea level. When you see it happen and change what are you suppose to do, say no I didn’t notice that? I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I’m not blaming anyone, but it’s happening. FACT!!!!

M13, I think you tried to hook David on this issue and he tried to explain to you what he’s seen because he cares about it and lives it. You’re coming from a political angle when he’s talking about the nature of the planet regardless of what is causing it. It’s fuckin happening!!! FACT!!!!

  20. Marinofan13 says:

I mean it, y’all… David is a good dude and has a heart of gold… I love that cat! Yes, we’ve spoken on the phone many times in the past. Just wish he’d understand that it’s alright to have a difference of opinion, that’s all.

    I respect you, David!

    • David Collins says:

i do too buddy, i just dont think You have spent as much time in FL as i have and might not have learned the same things

dont ask me what PA is like, lol never been there except I95 headed south

  21. Mike E. says:

Shit, so hard for me to get on here lately. I’m thinking either the Falcons 10/14 or the Texans 11/7. I have to check with work to see which date is open and clear that. Do we have any favorite yet?

  22. Tim Knight says:

M13, a difference of opinion is fine. But when people see changes in nature and talk about it from observing it, you need to listen. You know what it’s like to see rivers breach, right? It’s a real thing and has nothing to do with political views, but more about poor stewardship by humans in general.

We humans are always looking for someone to blame when it’s most of us all of the time. Then the earth moves on its own as well. It’s a combination. The survival of all species on this planet has been a challenge going on since life thrived on earth. Humans just think we’re special. In many ways we are, but we still have to deal with the natural effects of our planet and the universe.

    • Marinofan13 says:

I’m 100% with ya, Brother… and I’m listening to David, too. But it all stemmed from Miami Beach will soon be under water. Where have I heard that song before? Heard it in the 80s, the sampled version in the 90s, the remix version in the 00s, the remastered version in the 10s, and now the ‘greatest hits’ version in the 20s.

The ONLY POINT I was making was about Miami Beach being under water: FIFTY YEARS of lying, citing ‘science’. Scientifically speaking, there are too many so-called ‘scientists’ on the payroll of Democrats.

I’m sorry, but that should be frightening to ALL… for politics should NEVER own science.

      • Marinofan13 says:

        “I have spoken”…

      • David Collins says:

all i can say is visit Miami beach and see for yourself whats going on there , look at old photos, talk to people, etc, check out the new roads, sea walls, drains, pumps, street flooding at high tide, that will give You a clear picture of the changes.

i wouldnt lie to you, i dont care that others did or not, i wont lie to U, i respect You more than that

Week 14 bye week will be a unique experience for us. We’ve never had a bye week past the 11th week.

Looking at the list, it’s 19 out of 31 times our bye week was the 6th week or earlier, smh. That’s nuts.

I don’t know if anyone cares about this, but I usually find some amusement from knowing the numbers, lol.

    _____________________________________________________
A King Tide is a higher-than-normal tide that typically lasts about 3 hours. King Tides occur annually and predictably; in September through November in Miami. King Tides may cause residents to experience “sunny day flooding” where a street or other areas will temporarily become flooded when it is not raining.
    _____________________________________________________________-

Miami is loaded with coral rock, when i lived in east hollywood you would need a jack hammer to dig a hole, all that coral rock is very porous, when a king tide happens it would not have rained for days and the streets are flooded.
this is because the tide is so high coming up through the porous rock.

I never heard of that growing up in S FL, it would appear this is recent.

i don’t know if there’s any truth to Miami going under water but this crap is scary

  32. Mike E. says:

We had a Week 11 BYE last season, but of course COVID-19 changed it to Week 6. The Tua era thus began

I will be at every home game so it doesn’t matter to me which y’all pick.

Regarding the conversation on rising seas, just picked up “Doom: The Politics of Catastrophe.” by Niall Ferguson. To quote Kierkegaard on life, “we are doomed to live it forwards and understand it backwards.”

  34. New Age says:

Concerning climate, we aren’t serious enough and have political ‘conmen’ pushing bad data. If we were serious, something would be said or done about China and India adding lots of new pollution. We wouldn’t be focused on paper straws, which does fuck all on climate change, and we wouldn’t listen to people like AOC who says the would is doomed in 9 years? I forget how long since she’s so dumb.

Natural gas is the best current energy option but we’re looking at electric cars….when they can’t keep electricity on in California and want to waste most of Biden’s ‘infrastructure’ bill on other things. We talk about solar, and ignore how poisonous and dangerous old panels are. We’re always looking for new, progressives ideas that still don’t work while trying to get rid of things that do. We ignore the data if it doesn’t say what we want to. We’re not serious about climate and won’t be until it’s too late…which isn’t in 10 years but might be by 2100ish. Let me ask my meteorologist, I mean the scientists.

    • David Collins says:

good point, oil has never polluted , the bp oil spill and exon valdez was easy to clean up with some paper towels, solar and wind are hard to clean up

ever try to clean up wind? yea , we cant

its those dirty solar panels that dumped billions of gallons of oil pollution in the gulf, oil is the clean alternative that never pollutes, the technology of tommorow

lol thats what im hearing, best leave science to those that can grasp it

      • New Age says:

David, any time you want to have as data driven discussion about it, give me a reply. Let’s throw some facts down

  35. David Collins says:

after watching some idiots put gas into plastic bags yesterday, im convinced that people have some kind of weird sexual fetish for gas,

it s more addictive than cocaine, and people will lie cheat and steal to get it, and justify it by saying oil is clean and wind power pollutes

thats small town life, surrounded by idiots

    • steveccnv says:

People are impulsive, you know that from living in FL, everytime a hurricane is said to be headed FLs way bottled water and plywood are gone.

After being stuck at home, do you really think people want to be stuck without gas?

Necessities aren’t addictive, it’s called survival.

Hell of a lot more idiots in big cities.

No one thinks oil is clean, but people think wind power is 100% clean and effective

      • D says:

The media incites panic too, and people are greedy by nature, they want to get their before someone else can come get it, and then they just decide well hell i might as well get theirs while im at it lol.

BTW Plastics get broken down by gasoline, well most mixes of it, so its gonna be fun when that plastic shopping bag they used to collect the gasoline all of a sudden has a huge hole in it and all that precious gas is all over the ground.

  36. David Collins says:

education isnt for poor people in small towns, they are forgotten, life and society leaves them behind
they are good people, but life is crushing them.

they drop out of school and go to work on the farms, until that changes, nothing changes

Higher education should be available to ALL Americans

    • D says:

I mean it is, higher education, but in some cases they have to quit to work and in some cases they quit just because its not necessary for the trajectory of their life. A lot of them don’t have asperation of a professional career and being a farmer or somebody’s mom, or working at a local repair shop, might be contentment for them. There are a ton of people who could care less about hustle and bustle, they like their lives slow and simple.

      • D says:

There are grants and scholarships earmarked specifically for people in those situation to go to college. You could argue more need to be available, but many of them would not take advantage of them even if they had them. Your assuming people all want to go to college or see it necessary, and that’s not the case. Me personally id rather see more trade schools available because skilled workers are becoming a shortage after years of indoctrination that going to college for a professional career is the only way to make it.

      • David Collins says:

yes, they may like that, but they also dont have the same opportunities as people in the larger towns, and they all complain about the lack of money

they dont have access to universities, many dont have internet, and poverty rules their days

many are or were trump supporters, hoping Trump would help them out a bit, life is very difficult for many
i DO care about them, lol even if i despise Trump

but no politician, not even their great white hope, has seriously ever tried to help them in my lifetime, they are still struggling as always

i personally would like to see their children get the same education that the city folks got, get them internet service, and give everyone an equal shot at this thing called life

    New Orleans @ Christmas!
    ————————————————————–
Haven’t been there for a Christmas. New Years, Mardi Gras a few times, i think i have even been there for the 4th, but i likely was very drunk because that memory is a bit hazy. Those are all pretty good holidays for a party city.

    • D says:

I have been there for a bunch of parties that weren’t associated with major holidays too. You can pretty much close your eyes and point to a calendar and the date you touch will have something going on.

    • steveccnv says:

I was there once for Christmas, the Superdome was still being built, but as a kid it’s not a good place to spend Christmas

      • D says:

Lol, but your parents had a great time i bet lol.

      • steveccnv says:

Actually they never drank, when I was growing up, so they didn’t do the French QTR party scene, we went through during the day.

My dad is still alive, his Dr said, it’s because he didn’t smoke or drink much

  38. steveccnv says:

Haven’t heard a lot of bitching about our schedule.

Guess the 9 home games and 7 true road games helps, and the NFC/AFC South being somewhat on down times.

Only 1 MNF game helps too with short weeks

    • D says:

Schedule always comes down to the wintery cold games to me. If we can have a very limited number of those i feel good about our schedule. Competition drive you to be better so im not looking for a cupcake schedule but i have played in some icey cold games and if your not use to it, its a huge disadvantage.

  39. Ken says:

10/24 vs Falcons looks feasible for me. I mean I have jury trials stacked up all fall thanks to Covid but only 2% of cases go to trial so I am thinking I will be alright

    • The Flying Pig says:

How high was that number before covid?

For me it was less than 10% even before COVID

Covid dropped it to about 0%…lol

  40. D says:

David i think the way to approach this issue is twofold. Provide them with affordable options close by, and by this I’m thinking community colleges and trade schools. This opens their options and give them affordable (in the case they cant get the grants and scholarships) and allows them to stage their future, ie determine if the investment in a full university and a 4 year professional degree are what they need to have the life they want. Im going to say though, having live in mostly rural setting my whole life, you’re not going to find it be more than maybe 60% participation, bet case scenario.

The community college approach allows them to establish a 2 year degree and stage themselves for a 4 year if they decide to pursue it but also get them an attainable degree and something that makes them marketable to a better paying job. A trade skill school also provides a helluva opportunity. In fact i sometimes question my decision to go to a 4 year university, over trade school when i watch people my age and younger surpassing me as far as income lol. Fucking welders in general can make 6 figures within a few years of hitting the workforce.

A lot of this opportunity being given to these people, my people, is not a factor of availability, but motivation, and I’m not saying that in a bad way, people have different goals for their lives and theirs doesn’t include higher education, in many situation.

Oh and i am a firm believe in where there is a will there is a way. My Uncle, was a VP at Southern Company the major power company in the Southeast. He came from absolutely nothing. My Grandfather was a very hardworking man, a welder at a papermill. This was a time welders were not paid as well lol. He helped my Uncle, Mother and Aunt go through school by sacrificing his own personal wealth to help them. They still had to get jobs while in school to pay their way through. They all successfully finished college degrees, one in electrical engineering, one in teaching and one in accounting. They literally lived in a house with dirt floors when they were young, and that didn’t change until they were much older. You can come from nothing and make something of yourself, without assistance (they had merit based scholarships but no grants). Today, its hard, very hard to achieve the same dream, but its not impossible just as it wasn’t then its just as achievable now.

We play 2 games with teams coming off of a bye and 1 off of a Thursday Night, so 2-1.

Chi and WTF really got screwed.

Car, Det, Phi, Cin play no such games with teams coming off of a bye, which I can see, because they sucked last year.

Rams however don’t play any such games, expect them to get the calls this year like the cheats have gotten.

As a former boss once said the SB winner is determined before the season as a result of a poker tournament played by all owners 😉

If the Rams win the SB this year…

  57. The Flying Pig says:

Just really reviewing our schedule for the first time

Those first 5 games are kind of a rough start
Patriots, bills, raiders, colts and champion bucs

    That’s not an easy start
The good news is the bills game is at home as well as the colts game

I hope can come out of that stretch 3-2,
at best I think 4-1 is possible

The next 5 games include jags, falcons and Texans, honestly 3 of the worst team in the nfl. You have to balance that with bills on the road and ravens at home
I think at least 3-2 is likely (barring the season coming off the rails) and 4-1 is very possible

So by the time we get through 11 games
We are really somewhere between 9 wins (which would be amazing) and 5 wins

Then you get the easiest stretch of the schedule
    Jets 2x, giants and panthers
If we come out of that stretch with less than 3 wins, something went really wrong

Those last 3 games though: Titans, Saints and Patriots
We tend to beat the Patriots at home
And maybe Saints will suck without Brees
Titans are kind of one of those 50/50 game

The schedule sort of shapes up to be potential choppy start, before we hit a nice stride mid October through November

And no real cold weather games late

    🐷 prediction: 12-4

I even think 13-14 wins is on the table if we can start out well

I don’t see us losing more than 7 games based on the schedule
A lot has to go wrong for us and right for some of those bad teams we play in the Oct/Nov for that to happen

    Humans…prepare for the playoffs

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Oh shot 17 games

My entire football life, all I’ve known is a 16 games schedule. It’s going to take me some time to get used to that 17th game.

I can’t even settle on a win prediction. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always gone with a gut prediction instead of a calculated one. My gut says 10 wins, but that is without taking the 17th game into account, so I guess 11 wins, but it isn’t that simple. I’m so confused.

I guess I’m going with 11-6 and a WC spot.

      • stangerx says:

Hope always springs eternal in the board’s pre-season predictions, but heck last year was right. I normally go Vegas plus one (not like I plan too but works out that way). Brings me to 10-7, which may or may not mean playoffs.

But it really all depends on Tua. QB is always important, but this season don’t really know what he will do.

    You don’t see that everyday….

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Giants traded out of 11
Texans traded away 3 pick (to us)

And I’m counting jets (2nd pick) twice I’m those 7 games

I know people are superstitious and don’t want to be overly confident
But that’s an unusual stretch of ad teams (at least bad in 2020)

    • stangerx says:

The new guidance was announced at the White House. It will still call for wearing masks in crowded indoor settings like buses, planes, hospitals, prisons and homeless shelters.

The CDC will no longer recommend that fully vaccinated people wear masks outdoors in crowds. Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the CDC, says, “We have all longed for this moment — when we can get back to some sense of normalcy.”

Cards edged the Brewers today to take the series 2-1.

The Brewers pitched 3 terrific games. The Cardinals scored one run in the 1st inning today. It was the only run the Cards scored before the 8th inning the entire series. Not including the extra innings in game 1, the Cards only scored 4 runs the entire series.

The Brewers’ Yelich was out the whole series, and he is a Card killer with his bat, so I think they probably feel pretty good about their showing. Having that extra bat might have swung a game, or even two in their favor.

Cards Jack Flaherty got his league leading 7th win today. He’s our ace, and for the first time this season he had to pitch like an ace to secure a 2-0 victory.

Flaherty leads the league in run support. Prior to today, in Flaherty’s starts this season he has an average of 9.43 runs in support per game. That is crazy, lol.

Something I just learned today: the Patsies* have officially declined Sony Michel’s 5th year option, as of 10 days ago… and he’s only played 3 years. Odd, is it not?

The idea is that Michel could be a prime cut candidate for them… thus, they’ll get another prime compensatory pick, per the usual. Would they try to trade him? Perhaps. If not, my question to y’all is, would you sign Michel as a FA?

    • Marinofan13 says:

I would NOT put a waiver claim in for Michel, as it may seem he could be damaged goods.

    • Tim Knight says:

You don’t get a comp pick for releasing or trading a player.

They probably don’t want to pay him that 5th year option money. The Pats don’t pay RBs big money. They don’t pay a lot of players big money.

      • Tim Knight says:

Flores was with the Pats in Michel’s rookie season so he knows him a bit. I think he’d probably get claimed before us anyway.

      • Marinofan13 says:

Yes, you get comp picks for losing players, but not in a trade scenario. It’s about net loss and some funky formula that’s secret to the NFL. Anyway, that irrelevant to my question.

My question remains: would you sign Michel as a FA?

      • Marinofan13 says:

Tim, I do agree that somebody would likely claim Michel before he hits FA.

      • Tim Knight says:

It’s about losing players in FA, not if you release them. We won’t be getting comp picks for Van Noy and McCain either.

      • Tim Knight says:

I’m not overly impressed by Michel. Sometimes he looks like a 1st round back and then other times he looks meh. I’d probably pass on him but not sure what Grier and Flores think of him and that’s what matters. 😉

    —————
EXACTLY! And being Flores has been around Michel in NE, I wonder what he thinks of him. I’m just striking up some chat-worthy convo, nothing more.

Another rumor I’d heard was that Detroit might think about cutting Jamie Collins ($$$ vs production). Of course, Jamie Collins followed former Patsie* DC Matt Patricia to Detroit. Should Collins get cut, I wonder what Coach Flores thinks of him, having worked with him in NE?

    • Tim Knight says:

Flores might be interested in Collins but I think the price would have to be right.

      • Marinofan13 says:

ALWAYS. We’re not going to be making deals like we had in the past. Either cheap 1-year ‘prove-it’ deals, or incentive-laden 2-year deals that we can get out of after one year if it doesn’t work out.

Collins may be someone we should look for, should he be cut.

100% agreed, Ken. Thus, the CDC announcement today doesn’t really mean anything.

    • Tim Knight says:

I can’t say for sure, but I think 11, 12 and 22 personnel will be our core offense. I don’t think we’re adding TEs to prepare for Gesicki’s departure in FA next year. I think we’re building a heavy TE offense. We were very productive with TEs last year. I know Gailey is gone, but Godsey is still the TE coach and Co-OC along with Studesville who is the RBs coach.

      11P is RPO – shotgun.
      12P is run/play action.
22P is short yardage – where a TE or RB slips out in the red zone or for a 1st down.

Execute simple fundamentals. Don’t get too cute about plays. Be good at simple concepts. Throw in the wrinkles here and there.

  74. CavalierKong says:

Steve, that has to feel pretty lame losing the division that way. I know you mentioned it the other day…the tie breaker is effing stupid. Who cares about reg vs ot? One team won more and lost less than the other team. That is the team that should get the nod.

Looking forward to hearing reports on Gerrid Doaks from rookie minicamp. He might be a sleeper. Known for projected pass pro and STs at the pro level before he’s a rusher and receiver which he’s got some good film too.

I don’t know what it is, and I might be totally wrong about this kid, but I like his demeanor. I think he will play his ass off to make the team.

I know many of you are not happy with our RB situation, but Gaskin 7th round, Ahmed and Brown were both UDFAs, and Doaks now 7th round. We obviously don’t put a high priority on the position whether right or wrong. We put in a bid for Kerryon Johnson but it wasn’t like we had to have him.

So RB seems to be a position we don’t feel needs to be special. It’s more of a do your job committee approach.

We’ll see what happens, but I take a pass rusher like Phillips if you think he’s the real deal over a RB every time. I did not think we would take Waddle at #6 but when we did I thought about what if he’s our Tyreek Hill?

When you really get down to it, we don’t know our offense yet in 2021 – OL, TE, WR, QB and RB is still a work in progress.

      Go Phins!! 🙂

      • steveccnv says:

I look at college RBs the same way I look at Zach Wilson, based on your team vs opponent.

Najee was spoon fed everything with the talent Bama has. Is he better than the previous RBs they had? Maybe, but he fits right in with what those before him did.

You could also say, Bama gets the top talent, so their players were at the top of the recruiting class.

He seems like his head is on straight and will likely be an NFL star, but that’s besides my point.

This post is about why Najee went in the 1st and Doaks in the 7th.

Doaks doesn’t have the speed and all around game Najee does, but he does a lot of things really well.

He had to earn everything, lunch pail style, at Cincinnati.

Sometimes these Edelman types of players are motivated for greatness.

Put him on Bama and he likely doesn’t see the field, but if he did, I’d bet he would’ve been taken by the 3rd round.

He also has an NFL body, and that might make the difference
