Before the draft, my assessment of the 2021 Miami Dolphins defense was their secondary was their top unit and a big part of why the defense was a top rated defense in points allowed. Without a doubt, a huge part of that was the play of CB Xavien Howard. It wasn’t only the 10 INT’s, he would be one of the top 10 CB’s in the NFL without that, but those 10 turnovers vault him into top 3 territory. Think about that for a moment, teams regularly employ 3 CB’s, and sometimes as many as 5 or even 6. To be conservative, to be in the top 3 of say 48 CB’s is an accomplishment. It’s not only his great play alone too, his play makes it much easier for everyone else on the team to get their job done. He also has that uncanny ability to read the QB and jump throws which make him a very dangerous defensive player to challenge, although he was often challenged and he made QB’s pay.To me, it’s clear Howard doesn’t have long term confidence in his wary body so he wants to be paid now. Hard not to appreciate his circumstance even if it’s not great for the team to rip up a very lucrative contract signed just 2 seasons ago and pay him a boatload more. In my opinion though, I don’t have an issue with paying him this year and the next for two productive seasons and then having a parachute to get out without any cap hits after the next 2 seasons. I doubt Howard would take issue with that as long as he gets paid up front. I almost see that as a WIN-WIN.
If, say the Dolphins take a hard stance against their star CB Howard, it would almost certainly be last year’s 30th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, CB Noah Igbinoghene that would replace Howard. Last season Iggy was very limited in what they allowed him to do, playing time was sparse playing only 28% of the snaps on defense. The reason was two fold though, it seemed as if last year Flores and the defensive coaches wanted Igbinoghene to concentrate on playing the boundary rather than insert him in at the slot playing inside. He also struggled in limited time against one of the league’s best WR’s Stefon Diggs, which was a lot to ask. From my recollection, his coverage was not poor against Diggs, it was more Allen making some pinpoint throws in which Iggy had pretty good coverage on. In any case, they clearly didn’t feel he was ready for prime time last season, but has that changed in 2021? Do the Dolphins feel that removing one of the best CB’s in the NFL and replacing him with an untested 2nd year player against a division in which each team has improved offensively is the right way to go?
Let’s look at how the AFC East has evolved and changed from 2020 to 2021. The Patriots drafted Mac Jones with pick #15 in the 2021 NFL Draft. He will compete with Cam Newton for the starting spot. In addition, the patriots quietly fortified their receiving corps bringing in Kendrick Bourne from San Francisco and Nelson Agholor from the Las Vegas Raiders who will join promising WR N’Keal Harry (2019 pick #30) and Jakobi Meyers (Not the law firm). A modest upgrade but if Mac Jones can play like Justin Herbert did last season or even Joe Burrow (minus the injury), they can and should be a better offense. The Jets made offense a priority in2021, drafting QB Zach Wilson with the 2nd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and following that pick up with OT Alijah Vera-Tucker, then WR Elijah Moore and then RB Michael Carter. 4 picks in rounds 1 and 2 ALL on offense. The Jets were dreadful last year, you have to expect them to be better although they are putting all their eggs in one basket by clearly handing over the reins to rookie QB Zach Wilson. With QB’s Mike White and James Morgan the only other QB’s on the roster, the Jets are putting quite a lot of pressure on the young QB. They do have a nice receiving corps though with Denzel Mims, Jamison Crowder, and in FA in 2021 they added former Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis who had his career best season last year with just a shade under 1000 yards averaging a nice 15.1 YPR. If Zach Wilson is for real, the Jets should be considerably better in 2021. The Bills already had one of the most potent offenses in the NFL, 2nd in the NFL in scoring at 31.3 PPG. The Bills stayed pat with what they had on offense and doubled down on defense for 2021. In summation, this division may have gotten more difficult to defend.
No question we shored up our LB corps with the addition of Benardrick McKinney and the drafting of potential pas rushing star Jaelan Phillips, and drafting safety Jevon Holland in RD 2. It also should not be overlooked that we added S Jason McCourty as well as nickelback Justin Coleman, formerly of the Patriots, Seahawks and Lions. Still, losing Howard after all those moves is a huge gamble. I’m not sure how things will play out and whether the holdout will either force a trade or if the holdout can last through the season. My choice for resolution is clear, frontload the contract so you hopefully get what you pay for in the next 2 seasons, make Howard happy, and then easily be able to cut him painlessly for the cap if his health depreciates along with his play. An extensive holdout possibly lasting through the season helps neither party and a trade only helps the future, not the present team.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

Steve, you seeing this stuff with Bauer? If Bauer has the texts he alleges to have (below) then this is a pure money grab or a psycho scorned.
“[Take your socks off] when its time to choke me out,” she texted Bauer, according to screengrabs of the messages.
“Never been more turned on in my life,” she later added, according to the screen shots. “Gimme all the pain.”
Ugh, I hate that this is the page turn post…
Still pretty fucked up though
I don’t understand sex like that. Some of that S&M gets insane though.
One of my best friends and his wife were into some serious shit like that, they ended up getting divorced and one of the biggest reasons was incompatible sexuality. He told me she basically wanted him to beat her up during sex and he just couldn’t do it. She is my friend too, and she basically said the same thing.
I don’t tend to victim blame, but I have to wonder when he appears to have proof she wanted to be choked out and beat up. It seems to me that kind of thing could easily get out of control, especially if she was telling him to ramp it up.
I don’t tend to start off victim blaming, and we don’t even have corroboration those texts are real yet, but part of her accusation is that he abused her the first time, yet if the texts are real she responded that she liked it and was egging him on for more. Gotta wonder at that. Of course if he got out of control and just started wailing on her, that doesn’t make it ok.
Either way, I agree it’s some fucked up shyte.
LOL, in case I didn’t make it clear, I don’t tend to victim blame, nor do I victim blame.
The lady doth protest too much, methinks 🤔
No idea what this is about?

Norwegians?
The new track powerhouse I guess
😠
This is just the beginning. Just remember, a select few on this board have been calling out warnings for quite some time now that have gone unheeded due to the siren call of the ‘Norwegian Blonde’.
It’s only a matter of time before they take over football and we can pronounce anyone’s name!
LOL
We’ll have to call everyone by their first names, except that won’t help because half the team will be called Erik and the other half Bjorn, so we’re still effed.
Bjorn to Bjorn for the touchdown
Hey look are that both Bjorns are dancing the Surströmming, a new TD celebration that imitates fermented herring
I have to teach my “future” daughter in-law to 2 step!
Okay oinkeroos put your politics, music, even our the Dolphins for a moment
For some food porn!
Tonight in made an cast iron enchilada casserole
I Think I’ve mentioned cooking with cast iron pans lately being my new thing
So here goes
I have a big pan and two little ones so I decided to use the little ones
I put some yellow onion, tomatoes and scallions in a cast iron with avocado oil.
Cooked them down until they were translucent
You can add raw garlic here but I used garlic paste later
Then I added some ground sirloin bc fuck cows
Them I added some cilantro paste and garlic paste
And the a little green enchilada sauce to cook with the beef
The I added the king
Salvadoran crema
What’s thats you ask?
It’s like this sweet thick white cream that’s delicious
No wait that sounds like a porns stars explanation
It’s like sweet sour cream
Theirs Mexican cream and other cream but in Queens we have many choices and I went with Salvadoran
Here’s a Link to it
https://www.mercato.com/item/cream-salvadorean/325247?featuredStoreId=2078®ion_id=59770684&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=engine:google%7Ccampaignid:11590164885%7Cadid:478895459662%7Cgclid:CjwKCAjwz_WGBhA1EiwAUAxIccu-BY7OJpu8cuR8W3EtZ2xb5vngFq7zuWYeDZMAwCqLKJtDJRSDjRoC-LUQAvD_BwE&gclid=CjwKCAjwz_WGBhA1EiwAUAxIccu-BY7OJpu8cuR8W3EtZ2xb5vngFq7zuWYeDZMAwCqLKJtDJRSDjRoC-LUQAvD_BwE
Anyway I only add a little to the cooking ground beef
And stir.
Then you fry up some tortilla
On high heat heat up some avocado oil. Add a small tortilla, and flip both sides. 10 secs each side. I only needed 4
So then begin the layering
Two small cast iron pans
Bottom layer enchilada sauce (I use green, red is fine)
Next layer – beef mixture because fuck cows!
Then add a tortilla on top
Then add some ChOpped poblano peppers and Tomato
I Think any vegetable tou want to try is fine – spinacH, squash whatever
Then add more crema! ThIS IS KEY
AND a little more enchilada sauce
Then add the other fried tortilla so it’s two layers
Then puT In the over for 10mmins at 350
Then top with cheese
I used a 4 Mexican cheese blend
Why not just mozzarella? Me no know. you can do whatever cheese
I topped with a little green onion
10 more minutes
Then you have two skillets worth
ShamefUlly I ate both tonight
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm
Also, in related news, I postponed the start date of my diet one more week…
Hell yeah on the food porn, Piggy. I dig it, man. It’s a nice change of convo once in awhile that is fun and doesn’t require constant bickering to be involved, lol. It was awesome Phel jumped in last night.
I converse about food more than any other subject in my daily life, lol. (seriously though)
And the skillet enchiladas sound delicious.
I have a glass top stove, so I don’t get to use my cast iron unless I want to use it on the grill. I love the new stove, but that kinda bums me out.
I’ve been thinking about getting one of those plug in countertop stoves just for an extra burner and to use my cast iron.
Anyone here ever used or have one of those?
If you BBQ you can always cook on the cat iron outdoors
Yeah, I use it on the grill sometimes, but it’s not always convenient.
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMduBdQL8/
Maybe it’s the nyc city dweller that gets jealous of this stuff. But this open fire cooking looks amazing
I wonder if that was a homemade fire chimney. I was trying to find something similar online. That looks fun.
Cav, I have a glass top and have used my cast iron skillet even though was told not to. Haven’t f’ed it up yet in 5 years.
Giants retired RB Brandon Jacobs wants to come out of retirement to play DE at age 38 (almost 39) after being retired for 8 years. Hmmm?
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/retired-super-bowl-winner-looking-to-make-improbable-nfl-comeback-and-he-says-three-teams-are-interested/ar-AALFQo4?ocid=msedgntp
Cav – We used a plug-in, glass top induction burner for weeks when we were having our kitchen remodeled. Works okay, but you don’t get the same power so it’s difficult to use when you want really high heat.
Like BBM, we use cast iron on our glass top range all the time. They are great with induction cooktops. The big cast iron every day pan is the most used pan at both houses.
Trying again
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/top-wide-receiver-corps-in-nfl-2021/
#11 I will take. I say this group can exceed that. Top 10 easy. My hope is that they won’t due to an improved and solid run game.
Ranking isn’t totally based on stats, this is a projection rating.
With Waddle and Fuller new, Wilson not playing yet with Tua and a new playbook…
Gotta catch up on yard work. Just got back from annual scallop trip. Was freaking awesome. Was afraid weather would hamper us but it didn’t. Got limit everyday. They were thick in 6′ of water. I would jump in and swim out past anchor about 60′ past boat and zig zag back from 12 to 9 o’clock and would have my limit every time. Took a charter out of Steinhatchee for grouper since we use smaller boats for scalloping. Caught a 21 pound Yellowfin and limited out on Gags. Only caught a few snapper. Crazy that we have to go out 9 miles just to get in 25′ of water. Got 2 Kings trolling back in.
Inshore was just as good first 3 days with numerous reds, a few speckled and spanish mackerel. Got skunked last 2 days inshore. Surprisingly no flounder this trip. Used small mullet and pin fish on carolina rigs for flounder in the evening but only hooked up and got broke off by sharks. Going to try wading with gigs and lights next year but don’t plan on going no more than waist deep. lol
good thing you got out of the water, now hurricane elsa is headed to FL, so far its taking the same track as Irma,
Sounds like an awesome trip. And sounds like you have a whole bunch of scallops. Have a few ideas on how to eat them. If it works for shrimp….
It’s so hard to project anything with our offense. I think Tua is going to be much better this season, and the weapons he has to work with will be a huge part of that too. I think we’re probably going to spread it around a lot, I don’t think Parker will be as much as a focal point of the offense simply because we have more choices. My hope is that the run game and O-line is hearty enough to allow us to throw the ball well too. Parker, Fuller, Gesicki, Waddle, Wilson, Williams and the running backs who are all good receivers too.
Think we’ll see more matchups this year based on the game plan, so a guy like Parker will go for 6-100 game 1, then game 2 3-40, because he won’t be the focus week 2
Yep, thinking the same thing
BBM and Phel,
That’s great news, I miss my cast iron. I’ve had my glasstop for less than a year and I baby the thing, so I’ve been leery about using the cast iron since it came warnings not to do so. I thought it would probably be ok as long as you’re not dragging it all over, but didn’t want to find out the hard way.
Cheers guys!
NCAA came out with a new rule, NIL, that allows student athletes the chance to make money from their name, images, etc
i think its a great idea
i saw some practice vid of Tua, hes firing that ball out faster than last year, made Jacoby look weak in comparison
i think this is the year we get production from Tua. that we were always hoping for
While I agree Tua is firing the ball out faster, you often use single cause falacy to try to prove a point.
For example you can say, Tua is firing the ball out faster, than he was last year and use the eye test to determine it, but to say, made Jacoby look weak in comparison doesn’t prove anything.
Jacoby has a much bigger arm, than Tua, and this is a mini camp where he’s just lobbing the ball out there, while Tua is trying to prove his arm is stronger, than last year, so he’s putting more on the throw
not exactly, i saw them standing side by side in a practice, and Tua was firing the ball out faster than Jacoby was
its not a big secret that Tua is much stronger this year, other videos showing him looking bulked up
nothing wrong with hoping he has a great year, im a fan, lol but he does look stronger this year to Me, if You disagree, thats fine
SMH
I really like this team, but who on it could actually make the Pro Bowl this year?
Sanders and Howard did last year and very well could again. After that I have maybe one of the wideouts if he really breaks out…… but then would mean we are focusing on him and not the other guys.
After that have basically no one. Maybe it is the Pats way.
Baker, AVG, Phillips, McKinney or Ogbah. Maybe Byron Jones has a season
More than likely Phillips would win Defensive ROTY before making the Pro Bowl though
Jones could shut down his side and make it, but that would mean no Howard. The other ones maybe, but think unlikely. Hope they all prove me wrong though. 🙂
Why do you care who makes the PB?
Making the PB means we have to pay them more money, I’d rather the team was great, than individual players
i could see Waddle or Phillips in the hunt for pro bowl, depends on how fast the game comes to them,
they are top notch talents IMO, and if they dont get it this year, they surely will get some down the road IMO
Some of it is political though. You have to make your name. Not a lot of rookies. Would have to make a real splash.
waddle aint making the pro bowl, he’d need a qb for that
If Tua ain’t up to it, Waddle would be the most likely wideout to get to the pro bowl with all the catch and runs. Parker and Fuller would be shiot out of luck.
again, try different sources, the ones you are using are consistently wrong, good luck
i heard they were clocking Tuas ball speed with a calendar!
you do seem to have garbage sources, i have noticed that in other things
do some research with more reliable sources, to get better info
i highly doubt that Byron Jones doesnt make the pro bowl, hes overrated and overpaid IMO
thats why Howard is so pissed off, hes much superior than Jones. and the FIns made a costly mistake , that might mean they lose howard over it
i hope iggy takes a big step forward this year, hes getting some good reports from camp
highly doubt he makes the pro bowl *
Highly doubt as well, especially since he doesn’t rack up INT numbers. Doesn’t mean not worth his pay though. Good cover guy.
im sure you have noticed the howard holding out for more money, im thinking the Jones contract was an expensive mistake
we might have to go without howard over this, hopefully Jones plays 100 times better to make up for it
You really think David Canter right now is saying “we want Byron Jones money”? My guess he is saying “we want Jalen Ramsey money.”
without jones howard doesn’t get 10 picks
^
Howard got the INTS because he stepped in front of the WR and caught the ball,
Jones gets credit for his ints the same way
but Howard has been the NFL top INT guy over the last 3 years, only injuries have slowed him, but Howard took week 17 off along with Jones
Jones is not good enough to pick up the slack if we lose Howard. no one is
Jones is a good player, but hes not the best Miami Dolphin, hes just paid the most
https://dolphinstalk.com/2021/04/22/breaking-down-xavien-howards-ten-interceptions-2020-miami-dolphins/
this is a breakdown of all 10 of Howards picks, he didnt need Jones congratulating him after the INT< to make the INT
Howard played very well, and Howard got the picks on his own by covering close, and making some awesome plays on the ball
on the first int, Howard steps in front of the jets receiver, makes an awesome play, Jones nowhere in sight, on his second, we can see Jones standing behind him covering nobody
the other 8 are about the same, Howard played LIGHTS OUT
we cant give Jones anymore credit for Howards picks, than we can anyone else on the team, good pass rush, etc
because Eric Rowe and Nick Needham didnt get 10 INTS from Jones helping them either
I have to give the credit to Howard, for what Howard does
correction, not the jets, the jags*
he did abuse the jets later in the season though
so what you’re saying is, flores was stupid for pursuing jones.
i did not say that
that’s what your implying
im not implying that, sorry you misunderstood
i mentioned he is overpaid and we might lose howard several times
we shouldnt have given the bank vault keys to Jones IMO, either he took less or find someone else
im not happy we might lose Howard over the Jones contract
they wouldn’t throw howards way if we had a weak cb on the other side.
if You were a QB, would YOU throw Howards way? lol
i would NOT
So you saying only bad QBs threw Howard’s way?
i would say they made bad decisions, and Howard made them pay for it
but agree Jones played good at times, other times he didnt, very inconsistent IMO
Orob, im fine with the idea of bringing Jones to the team , but i dont agree with his ridiculous contract
hes overpaid, and now we may have to go without Howard for the overpayment of the Jones contract
i would think Jones is worth about half what his contract is, hes extremely overpaid IMO
Am I the only one who has noticed that both Howard and Jones are good CBs, and that most of the passing yards last season went to receivers they were not covering? Especially in the middle.
No. I don’t understand why Jones is so underappreciated here though.
actually , hes the highest paid Dolphin, hes overappreciated, and now Howard may be gone because of it
Lol SMH
WTF does Jones’ pay have to do with him being appreciated here.
its tough to appreciate Jones, if jones contract makes the team lose Howards services
i dont want to see Howard on some other team, that sucks
i cant give Jones credit for giving high fives, when Howard makes a leaping one handed catch
you can if you want
not sure, but watch the video of all of Howards picks, i just stated what i saw on his INTS
he got them from stellar play, not from Jones standing behind him covering nobody
You do get they play on opposite sides of the field? X is great. Doesn’t mean Jones is bad.
its always a team effort, a great pass rush also leads to picks
but i cant deny what Howard did, he is the top CB in the NFL< with or without Jones
X is a great player. Don’t know how else to say it. You seem to be going after Jones though, which is the issue now.
I said HERE, meaning this blog. Good players get paid, especially in FA. Same as it ever was . . .
New article out that ranks QB arm strength, based on all passes thrown during mini camp and OTAs.
Tua has the strongest arm in the NFL
You funnin on us?
Not us
losing respect for You when You admit to lying about it, SMH
whatever
wouldn’t expect you’d get it’s meaning
But wasn’t for you
if Howard goes to another team, he wont have Jones congratulating him after Howards leaping end zone one handed pick against the chiefs
Howard will STILL be a INT machine on another team, he doesnt need Jones to be awesome
How about Howard put on his big boy pants and realize that Jones took the contract that was offered to him. If Howard can’t play for us cause Byron Jones makes a million more than him…… then I don’t want him on my team. Do you?
im sure you can understand that Howard feels he is the best CB and deserves more
its not about big boy pants, its about overpaying for Jones, and the best Corner in the NFL is not the top paid corner on his team
You don’t seem to get it. We are way past Byron Jones. About Jalen Ramsey now.
Never does
Howard surely has ballhawking ability, but he was put in position to get 10 ints, good opposite coverage, Amoeba D…
For sure. This D is perfect for him, especially with Jones on the other side. Why do they throw at Howard? Must be a reason.
If there weren’t lots of factors involved he’d have 10 every year based on how great he thinks he is
all the arguments leave me wondering,,,
are you guys happy the team paid so much for Jones that we may lose Howard over it?
thats surprising, i would think most Dolphin fans would want Howard on the team, and would not like the fact we may lose Howard over it
i happen to like Howard much more than Jones
I was happy that the Phins paid Jones more than Howard cause was hoping X would get mad and threaten a holdout. And hoping now that leads to a trade and him not on my team (what a jerk).
Have never been that impressed by his play (all showboat stuff) and those knees are ready to fold any time he lines up. Time to sell the market on him high and get whatever we can for him before he can’t even walk.
wow, ok, thats an interesting way to look at it, but i cant agree with it , because i prefer Howard over Jones
guess we will watch Howard do well for someone else, like Minkah did with Pittsburgh
the steelers are VERY HAPPY with Minkah , and Howards new team, if he goes, will love him for sure
meanwhile, the Dolphins are supplying other teams with top talents, not the best way to win a super bowl IMO
Hoping X becomes our next Tunsil. But key thing is he has shown no moral value to make me worry about him. Great player, but he’s a 28 year-old on wobbly knees. Just get what you can for him. Especially cause he is threatening to do a Le’veon Bell. Don’t want him in our locker room.
It’s painful sometimes discussing things with you. Players always get paid well in free agency. We picked up Byron Jones as a FA last season. If Howard can’t swallow that, that’s on him. Howard signed the highest contract at the time for a CB. That price goes up every year. Should Howard get a new contract every year? No. Now if we can make it work where we fit him into the salary cap for the next couple of seasons and then cut him when he’s not worth his salary I’d try to do that. On the other hand, we don’t owe Howard a thing.
it doesnt need to be painful, im just surprised that you feel that way, i didnt know
i was very happy to have Howard on the team, and hope we have him this year
Howard is trying to max out his earning window. Simple as that. He got the set for life contract and now wants more. He’s a tall CB at 28 with bad knees on a long -term contract coming off a spectacular year he knows probably won’t repeat this season.
Howard gets 10 ints , but Jones gets credit for the picks, and makes more money, maybe he SHOULD go for his own good
Wow, your logic is improving🥳
i dont need You high fiving me like Jones does after Howard makes a great play, lol
my logic is fine, i think Howard is better than Jones
That’s right up there with its easier to fool someone, than convince them they’ve been fooled
i get it Stanger, im well aware that Ramsey is the top paid corner
i posted the link on cb salaries a week ago
Then why you still talking about Jones?
the same reason you are, its a dolphins football blog, lol
im not talking about the jets cornerbacks
But yet you already knew Ramsey was the benchpoint. If you can give X one more dollar than Jones at this point…. do it. But David Canter would see that as a slap in the face.
Hopeless Stanger
steve, you just admitted to lying, and offer nothing to the convo
YOU are hopeless
Coming from you that’s a compliment, thank you
David – Only because many times you can’t see past what you’re saying, almost as if you’re ignoring other facts that people bring up. We know Howard had a great season, we also know he got the top contract just 2 seasons ago. Jones signed a FA contract which always exceeds market value or at least is the higher end of market value. We definitely need a corner or Howard wouldn’t have had that same success he had last season because they’d be picking on the weaker CB much more often. Jones playing well made it otherwise.
no, im not ignoring, You, or facts, but the videos are factual also, and most of Howards picks, Jones was not doing anything but high fiving him afterwards
i feel differently on the subject, and like Minkah did awesome in pittsburgh, Howard will be awesome no matter where he goes
i honestly believe that Howard is the Dolphins top player and should get the top pay
Again, Jones and Howard line up on opposite sides of the field. How do you figure Jones could do anything other than give a high five after?
i see what You are saying stanger, thats the way it goes, everyone wants a raise when they see others getting a raise
but i feel like Howard has a legit beef that he is not the Dolphins top paid corner. guess You feel he doesnt
He signed a contract. Was it supposed to include a “no one will get paid more than you at your position” clause? And you do get that X is already real well paid. Believe 6th highest corner in the league, although might be less than that after the off season.
i agree he should play, he signed a contract, but he doesnt agree, hes holding for more, and wont play unless he gets it
what to do?
he either gets more money, or gets traded, but trading away the top player on the team is not the best way to win the SB imo
Exactly — we ain’t hitting the super bowl this year and he is a getting older CB with a health history. What do you figure we can get for him? I’m thinking a first and a second. And if he shows up to play he does. Team will honor his contract.
Stanger are you locked in on fest ticket count? Might need 1 more
No problem.
Thanks, I’ll let you know for sure soon
Mike, i know the other defenders also do their parts, but Howard will get alot of picks even if Jones wasnt on the team.
in 2018, Jones wasnt on the team, but Howard had 7 INTS in 12 games, proving he is a ballhawk INT machine, with or without Jones
https://www.google.com/search?q=byron+jones+dolphins+stats&oq=byron+jones+dolphins+stats&aqs=chrome..69i57.6521j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Jones has a total of 4 INTS in 6 years, Howard can get 4 INTS in less than half a season
Everyone knows that X is better than Jones. What is your point?
such a huge difference , and Jones makes more money
Howard SHOULD expect more IMO, maybe the Fins will find a number everyone can live with
It is a HUGE difference. Like Bryron Jones is a high school player and X the All Pro NFL player he is, until his health gives up. All the more reason to trade Howard given his gimpy knees. Could cement the future of the team. Just the smart move. Won’t have another season like last year. Sell now!
This is heart breaking.

A Miami firefighter located the body of his 7-year-old daughter Thursday while searching through the rubble of a partially collapsed condominium building.
The first responder, who was not identified by authorities, draped his jacket over the child and placed a small United States flag over her body as she was carried down the pile in a gurney The firefighter, his brother, and other authorities escorted her through a line of law enforcement and emergency personnel.
agreed, very tragic, and they might have to deal with hurricane elsa to boot, unless elsa stays west of it
im afraid more of the structure could come down , if a hurricane hits the Miami Lauderdale area
yesterday, i was watching the video of the first fest in 2012, lol
i wish i had a better camera at the time, but it was nice to see the mob having a great time at the game
I wish David Canter and I still followed one another on Twitter. Would love to put my proposed contract for X into his ear, at the very least. NOT saying he’d listen to little old me, but just to plant the seed in his head.
He went on a public leftist rant that was so disgusting to me, I chose to unfollow him several years ago. Prior to that, he and I would privately DM one another on Twitter, talking about the NFL, its players, and the like.
Wrong time, wrong moment, and I unfollowed him in my anger, as a result: I regret that. Canter’s actually a really cool dude… and I let a political difference destroy our budding friendship.
Re-sign X to a new contract and frontload the contract. Make year 3 the outlet valve, should his knees go out. X is probably going to be a stud for a couple more years, and I do NOT want to lose him in those couple of years.
That’s so cool you had an in with one of the top agents out there. That’s gold right there.
agree, good call to not let political crap ruin friendships
Jeff Bezos designed a space dildo
Is it going to Uranus?
LOL
They are going to study galactic bulges
But Sir Richard Branson will be the first billionaire in space. He moved up his flight to before Bezos. Says has nothing to do with that just the way things worked out. Yeah right.
When you see the dildo the Earthlings sent
LMAO!

true that, screw bezos, hes a welfare deadbeat
i heard there was people signing a petition to not let Bezos back to earth, lol
virgin galactic stock is killing bezos stock too , fuck bezos with a rocket ship dildo, lol
its one of my favorite parts of the day watching my virgin galactic stock shooting up,
and bezos shitty spacex not doing so good after Branson made his announcement, lolol
i hope many short the bezos stock, dont feed the deadtbeat billionaire taking socialist handouts
Colin Reye is an awesome guy IMO, he has a big heart
futures hit an all time record this evening, following a strong jobs report
stocks will rocket next week, awesome!

Stanger are you locked in on fest ticket count? Might need 1 more
You are bringing David ?! That’s Kewl
lol hell no i wont go with steve, ill be working anyway
im working 2 jobs now, to get some extra funds to finish my home build
Just having some fun 😊… best of luck finishing the build. Reno’s never seem to stop … waiting for our new garage and deck to start.
No problem
Ah waisted youth!
im not crazy about her voice, but shes smoking hot,
manitoba, already done redo to my former house, while it was difficult, it was nothing compared to what im doing now
home build= building a new home from scratch, driveway, well, etc etc etc on an empty lot
gonna cost over $150,000 and thats not including the lot
thankfully i bought 4 lots about 6 years ago before prices got insane, gonna build homes on the other lots also, lol
the trick is to get construction loan, but only for the start, not the entire project
then sell the home, before construction is finished, pay off the construction loan completely, and use the profits to fund my personal homestead
im too old to take on a 15-30 mortgage, i want everything free and clear when i move in
PS, one of the lots is peace river waterfront with boat access to the gulf of mexico
those lots are pure gold, and not really any of them left under $500,000
im putting in a boat ramp and dock with it, its going to be 3800 square feet!
im thinking ill get 7 figures for that one, with just buying the lot and taking on a construction loan to start the build
the waterfront lot was bought dirt cheap before they put the paved road in, lol
when i bought it, it had no roads, no power, sewer lines, nothing, but charlotte county is building a park out there now, paving the road, and bringing in utilities , making my property value skyrocket
i have another lot and the end of a road, waiting for the road and utilities come, and develop and sell that one also
the thing about FL properties in the middle of nowhere is, FL development comes to you eventually, and your property values will increase dramatically
YOUNG STANGER: Just in case you missed it, I WILL be at the Fest. Sadly, Mrs. OD has not recovered enough to go to any games for the forseeable future. So I’ll just need 1 ticket.
ALSO:
They came; they saw; they conquered.
The Tampa Bay Lightning crushed the Montreal Canadiens 6-3 tonight in a truly stellar performance in Montreal. The Bolts scored TWO goals in the first 4 minutes and it was GAME OVER!! TWO goals early in the 2nd period put the game in the ice chest as the Lightning led 4-1 before the midway point of the game. Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy was sharp when he had to be,clearly
out playing the Habs’ Carey Price, who, at times, looked lost out there.
The Bolts have NEVER trailed in any game during the Finals. If they claim the Cup in Monday’s 4th game, and NEVER TRAIL IN THAT GAME, they’ll be only the 4th team since 1985 to sweep the four game series without ever trailing in the Finals!
The Old Dolfan will walk the greyhound and hit the sack!
Y’all have a GREAT 4th of July holiday!! We may be dodging a hurricane by Tuesday!
congrats OD
the storms headed for tampa bay, stay safe OD
there is a boat parade planned on sunday night, the waves should be huge by then
Gotcha OD
OD,
71% of the earth is covered by water
the rest is covered by Andrei Vasilevsky

LMAO thats funny
I didn’t think there was a final ticket count yet: Krishna 1 + 2 = 3
Didn’t know you were coming bud. 3 tickets no problem. I got start the list though.
Watching a video on our D the guy brought up a good point about how the scheme backfired on us at times, causing us to get gashed in the run game.
Basically a gambling D, that can be beat over the top, especially in cover 0 and with quick run/pass plays to the outside.
The gambles didn’t pay off week 17, and I believe the player changes were done as a result of the dam breaking.
McKinney, Holland, and Phillips should go a long way to plugging up those holes.
KVN seemed a little slower, than what was needed
Caving into Howards demands would set a bad team precedent, other good players would pursue the same.
I highly doubt Miami caves, and i highly doubt Howard passes on 12 mil and sits out the season.
it’s really all a non issue.
Howard will play under his current contract unless he’s traded.
it certainly could work out that way
however, the Dolphins have already set a bad precedent, when they paid Jones more money, \
at that time Jones only had 2 INTS in his previous 5 seasons in Dallas, he was NOT worth more than Howard, who had gotten many times more picks for Miami, not Dallas
it sets a bad precedent, when a player performs exceptionally well in Miami for years, but the team overpays for a guy that wasnt all that, for some other team
If I was Howard, i would have held out last year, but he didnt
he got 10 interceptions, which was 5 times more than Jones had, and he did it with less pay than Jones
in essence, he gave the Dolphins a one year hall pass, for not being loyal to his years of exceptional service, he doesnt owe the Dolphins any more hall passes for screwing him over IMO
Mr logic strikes again🥸
He played 5 games in 2019, after signing a long term contract, that he wanted, because of his knees.
Yeah, great time to holdout
do me a favor and dont talk to me, thanks
How did the Dolphins screw over Howard by making him the highest paid CB in the NFL?
Frankly, this is a great situation for Howard. Flores’ defense….and Jones on the other side….helps allow X to do what he does. He’ll either end up staying, which I think is most likely, or we turn him into some nice draft capital. Win/Win. Losing him would suck, but you move on.
It’s kind of a WIN/WIN, but for this season in particular, not so great. It would just push the timeline ahead another year which isn’t ideal. I feel like we shouldn’t keep putting things off to the next season and beyond. We were 10-6 last year and w/o Howard could take a step backwards. While the draft capital would be nice we need to start competing for a division title. If Iggy doesn’t cut it as the CB opposite Jones and no one else we have on the roster does either, we have to draft or find one in FA and start over again. All this takes too much time. I think we’re close now. Another year doesn’t kill us but we do have some big contracts coming up too.
good points, agreed
its like a bar with a sign saying , Free beer tomorrow
but you come back the next day, and the sign says free beer tomorrow, lol
but unless you suck the bartender off, lol You wont be getting any free beer, ever
if the fins trade Howard, i think we need a top notch running back and at least a high second round pick also
someone like Derrick Henry would help this team get past the loss of Howard, a good run game will keep the defense on the sidelines
I will lose my shit if we trade Howard
Hulk sound angry . . . I’d prefer not to but the truth is he’s facilitating this trade talk. If he would STFU and play this wouldn’t be happening
whats up buddy, Me too, i will be pissed off if the Dolphins trade their best player
He is trying to maximize his payday. I get that and don’t fault anyone for trying to do that. He is an elite talent and wants to be paid as such. He plays hard and is light years better than Byron Jones who makes more money than him
We are the point where we are trying to compete now and not build any more. That means we have to hold to elite talent rather than trade it away for draft capital
Every year a new CB will make more than Howard, so maybe he should just accept a 1YR contract and bet on himself so can be that guy. That’s what Revis did and he cashed in big time. Howard wants it all though, he wants the multi year contract but then wants to rip it up and get paid more. Let him put his money where his mouth is like Revis and then he can have what he wants, a year by year highest paid contract. Is he willing to bet on himself? I doubt it!
I don’t think it’s the fact that someone makes more it’s the fact that the someone is on his own team and is the 2nd best CB on the team by a fairly wide margin
im not sure the titans would want to part with Henry though, they just gave him a huge contract after he played so well on his rookie contract
i wish the Dolphins would retain their players like that, be loyal to the players that were loyal to the team
the Dolphins signed ALbert Wilson to a one year contract, rewarding him for sitting on his ass doing nothing
i have no idea why they are loyal to deadbeats like part time wilson, and wont make Howard happy
It’s not loyalty, they’re assembling a team with players that can help the team be better. They have already rewarded X, he just decided he no longer likes the reward. That’s on him, not the team.
the team is loaded at WR< and dont need a guy to sit on the bench like wilson does,
wilson doesnt make Miami better, because he never plays, just gets a paycheck
it was 2 years ago when Howard was renegotiated, May 2019
he wants a raise and is holding out , the team has no choice but to pay the man or trade him
Ken, c’mon now, Jones signed as a free agent. If X wants to get paid free agent money then like I said, bet on himself and do a 1 year contract.
It’s a mixed message to Howard. We value you but we will pay someone more and then draft another CB in the first round. I get why he is upset
When teams sign players, it’s not a message to anyone on the team other than we’re trying to win. You need multiple CB’s in the NFL to succeed on defense. We had X, we overpaid in FA to get Jones. That’s not a message to X, that’s a commitment to winning. X was also upset we drafted Iggy. Fuck him, what is that? Does he want to play both sides of the field and the slot all at the same time? We need talent and we got it both through FA and the draft. What’s he complaining about?
He is complaining about the message that they are not paying him what he is worth. I think at the end of the day we are going to pay him because you can’t let a talent like him go
Training camp isn’t until 7/27
I don’t know why anyone is even discussing trading Howard until at least then if he holds out
Contracts are just business
And the wallets of the players and owners are really none of my concern
He’s not really hurting the team by trying to convince the team to pay him more before anything meaningful happens
I don’t even think for a vet like Howard training camp in the 3rd year of this defense is really important
And I wouldn’t mind seeing a young player like Iggy get more reps this offseason
I don’t really care if he holds out through the day before week 1
You have until the trade deadline to really consider doing something serious
I doubt his value now is more than it will be in September if it comes to it
Put the idea of trading Howard or reacting at all to any of this on the back burner until/unless it rises to something that really starts to hurt the team
I don’t think we are close to that time
Personally I don’t give a shit how the team spends it’s money who is under contract and who is not and all that stuff. It’s not my money. I just care that the field the best team possible
So I won’t take a side on who’s right or wrong unless/until I have to pick a side to prevent from going backwards
July 3 is way too early to care about this stuff
I’m hopeful we are a playoff team this year, but I gotta see it first. This team is still very young, building and learning how to win tough games. I think Flores is still learning as a HC too. He still makes some head scratching decisions in games. He’s also still building his coaching staff, really.
***
I think we will, hopefully, be able to actually compete for a title in 2 years….and even that’s a little Pollyanna for me. Teams usually have to spend a few years in the playoffs learning how to compete and win at that level before they are really title contenders. I like the development of this franchise lately….there’s no need to rush it by hamstringing your financial situation for any one player other than a franchise QB.
***
If you can get a deal done that works for the team and is fair to X, great. If not, next man up.
there were a few teams with worse records than Miami that made the playoffs, i think 10 wins is a very good season
but the FIns may need 11-12 wins to get in the playoffs with a 17 game season
if trade partners are needed, I like Jacksonville
the dolphins rarely play Jax, and Jax has the most cap space of any team, they could afford howard
what does jax have that we want? ahem, their first round pick could likely be in the top 3, i would take that for Howard
its doubtful the top 3 players in the draft would be better than Howard, but we could definitely get one of the best players in the draft with a pick from 1-3
Ramsey makes $21 mil a year. I’d offer Howard a non-guaranteed contract for this season filled with incentives that pays him $25 mil if he repeats last year. Howard and his agent would not only refuse that…. they’d be offended.
👍
Revis made over $93M between 2011-2016 by betting on himself each season. That was a helluva lot of money back then. Revis was great and wanted top salary every year. He paved the way. If Howard is willing to do this he can get what he wants, he just has to keep playing at a very high level year in and year out
Howard is great….. Revis was greater. We’ve talked about it, but don’t think we single Howard on the other teams #1 WR without help. Revis not only did that but then he would shut the guy down.
Actually the basis of our D is singling Howard on the other teams #1. Solomon Wilcotts was talking about that on NFL radio
There is a lot of debate about that on this board. I’m on the didn’t happen side. Didn’t see Howard switching sides in formation , which is what would have to do if following a particular receiver.
Routinely saw him matched up on #1 all alone which is why he got so many ints
You are a boundary CB 50/50 shot you get their #1 guy. And a lot of times there is no true #1. What very well may be true is he was singled and Jones got safety help.
Sorta scary folks like this are out there. Also guessing since they “do not recognize our laws” that outstanding warrants might have been involved.
————————————————-
A bizarre incident unfolded Saturday morning in Wakefield, Massachusetts. According to local police: “during a motor vehicle stop, several heavily armed men claiming to be from a group that does not recognize our laws exited their vehicles and fled into the woodline” near Interstate Highway 95.
The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. when a state trooper came across a group of 8 to 10 people refueling on the side of the I-95 highway. The group was dressed in military-style uniforms, carried tactical gear like body cameras and helmets and had long guns slung over their shoulders. They told officials they were on their way to Maine from Rhode Island for “training.”
Officials said they made two initial arrests and the rest of the group fled into a wooded area that is now surrounded by police. As a result, a stretch of I-95 was closed and shelter-in-place orders were set for people who live nearby.
It’s a myth that Revis didn’t need or didn’t use help.
It’s not myth that he put his money where his mouth was and backed it up each season to get paid. My guess is Howard wouldn’t gamble like that
If its a myth he had a darn good marketing campaign.

Cav – Here are the recipes for the pinquito beans and jicama slaw I made with the tri-tip. Worth the price of admission.

I’ve tried to respond to this twice now, and they are getting lost in the ether, lol.
My wife is always asking for baked beans. I’ll give that pinquito beans recipe a looksee and play with it.
Cheers, Phel 🙂
Howard is a very good player. I hope we find a way to keep him on the team, for sure. This defense might be able to do some really good things in the next couple years. Keep adding good players….keep as many as you can.
Ken – I’d like to see some edification of your Howard claim. I’m definitely in the camp that says he did not regularly follow the #1 receiver around, if ever. I clearly remember early in the season Iggy was on Diggs and was getting toasted. Wouldn’t Howard have been defending Diggs if what you say is valid? I personally think you misconstrued what Wilcots was saying.
No he was routinely on number 1. He covered Hill vs KC same in Arizona, same with Allen and SD and I am not misconstruing what he said Wilcotts was very adamant about his point
Hopkins in Arizona ^
I certainly saw X move around, but I can’t say it was to put him on the team’s #1 all the time. I’m guessing it was some of that, some just scheme, and some that they try to match up their DBs on guys based on those guys’ specific talents. I am almost always watching the LOS though, so I’ll have to give way to others on this one.
Regis was great. But, in about a dozen years he won 1 SB….when he played for the Pats. As great as he was, he wasn’t winning championships by himself.
But what player can? Marino won one less than Revis.
Wilcotts saying Howard was usually matched up against the #1, I believe is just a talking head assuming shyte rather than knowing what was actually happening.
I haven’t rewatched all the games, but I did recently watch the Raiders game.
In 2020, Agholor was the most prolific WR on the Raiders roster. He had 896 yds and 8 TDs, the next closest receiver (Renfrow) had 656 yds and 2 TDs. Jones was matched up against Agholor a lot in that game. He had his way with Jones including the long TD at the end when Jones was covering him.
(TE Waller is the Raiders best receiving threat, he was covered by Rowe).
Game two against the Bills, Jones was matched up on Diggs the 1st series, then got hurt and Iggy came in and got his ass whipped by Diggs most of that game.
That is just two games off the top of my head, but I bet if you go through each game, you’ll see Howard and Jones often played a side instead of matching receivers.
I’ll check out the Arizona game today and see who covered Hopkins. That is a true #1 receiver, and if the claim has any merit, Howard would be on him all game. I’ll do a play breakdown of coverage #1 for each of them and post it tonight.
Wilcotts is a former DB and his DB stuff really well
How does that make him right about the two games I provided that Howard definitely didn’t follow the #1?
I don’t know but I do know in most games I watched he was on #1
Well, I’m throwing on the Zona game right now. I’ll post the numbers when it’s over. I’m just hoping we win this one 😉
Find it hard to believe that Wilcotts watched and charted every Dolphins game. If he knows that seems came from our coaches, or maybe X and/or his agent. We were all watching the games, and we don’t know.
And thing about it is 50% chance he’s on the #1 one if just side by side. One game where he’ s not on the #1 and then he wasn’t shadowing him that game at least.
Howard plays RCB which usually matches up against the other team’s #1 WR. That being said, I don’t recall them regularly switching sides if the #1 switched sides
Just FYI, first Arizona offensive play, Hopkins is lined up on the right side covered by Jones. Fizgerald on the left covered by Howard.
2nd play Hopkins on the right side covered by Howard.
So clearly not always following the #1
Offensive right and left
stanger,
Exactly. That’s why I don’t sweat keeping or losing any one player all that much….unless it were a really good, true franchise QB, maybe. They have way more impact on wins and losses now than they did when Marino played.
Even though he has given us something to talk about pre-camp, don’t sweat the Howard situation either. But part of that is don’t think we are quite as ready to make the move as some do. My window matches up better with the draft picks we’d get for X, who don’t think has a big window on his career.
LOL, Wilcotts is calling the game, and says after the 1st few plays, “You see Howard is not playing on his traditional left side, but is following Hopkins.” Even though right now it’s been 6 covers by Howard and 2 by Jones, and both have covered Hopkins on right and left.
Wilcotts is a typical talking head, has an idea in his noggin and sees it whether it’s true or not.
Halfway through the 1st Hopkins has lined up almost exclusively on the offensive left boundary, and Howard has covered him every time there. He’s lined up 3 times on the right side of the formation and been covered by Jones 2 times and Howard once. Howard covered him on the right when it was a 3 WR stacked formation and no one on the left. There was a time or two Jones was on the offensive left with stacked formations and Howard covered Hopkins.
So far, the CBs are basically staying on their side, but Howard is covering Hopkins because he is usually lined up there.
Cardinals would set up Hopkins to the other side of the field more but they are scared of Jones and his shut down skills. 🙂
LOL
That may be Lofton calling the game, not Wilcotts. I still haven’t gotten the announcers named. Lofton is a dumb as a box of rocks and this guy is pretty dumb, lol.
Tua looking good. I like our chances in this game
Unless things change, I think we can put this to rest.
I’m at the end of the 1st quarter and Hopkins continues to be lined up on the left boundary almost exclusively, and Howard covers him there, but doesn’t follow him unless that side has no coverage.
Hopkins just lined up in the slot on the offensive right side, and Van Noy covered him, Howard stayed on the offensive left.
The Van Noy coverage terrified him, and Hopkins false starts, lol.
Halfway through the 2nd quarter, Hopkins in the slot offensive right, covered by McCain. two plays later Hopkins on the offensive right boundary, covered by Jones.
So far, every single time he moves to the offensive right, Howard has not covered him (except the play with no leftside receiver).
Hopkins in a stacked formation offensive left, covered by Rowe, Howard covers the outside stack WR.
6 minute mark 2nd quarter, Howard covers Hopkins when Hopkins is in the offensive right in a 1 WR set. Next play, Howard covers Hopkins from the offensive right, this with a multiple receiver set. Both were in the redzone.
“It should come as no surprise that the league leader in interceptions (10) landed atop this list. Howard was effective in all areas and might have received a boost from Miami’s decision to move him off the line of scrimmage last season. After spending nearly 70 percent of his coverage snaps in press coverage in 2019, Howard pressed opposing receivers just 32.2 percent of the time in 2020, and it produced excellent results. Only Marcus Peters was more effective in press coverage last season, with Howard finishing second to the Ravens CB (-20.6) in targeted EPA on such throws at -16. Some teams opted to challenge Howard deep and learned that was also a bad decision. He recorded four interceptions on deep targets, the most in the NFL in 2020, and finished with a targeted EPA of -17.4 on such targets, the lowest rate in the league. These numbers fall in line with a demonstrated history of success downfield, too. Howard hasn’t allowed a deep passing touchdown as the nearest defender since 2017, intercepting seven passes on deep targets and allowing a grand total of just four receptions for 186 yards on 35 deep targets since the start of the 2018 season. Howard Island might not be a thing yet, but the information above suggests he was worthy of the nickname in 2020.” — Nick Shook, NFL.com
Howard’s historical coverage in the deeper portions of the field is pretty surreal to see laid out. Nearly twice as many interceptions as receptions allowed over 35 targets deep since 2018?
