Up and coming star? Andrew Van Ginkel

If you’re a regular reader here, you know I just highlighted our 2nd first round pick, Jaelan Phillips in my last article. Now it’s the guy on the other side, WOLB Andy Van Ginkel. I think Phillips will be an NFL star, maybe even this season, but I think we may have a star in the making in AVG. A little shorter and a little lighter than Phillips, AVG is a fast moving, agile athlete. Phillips is 6’5 260 while AVG is 6’3 241. Both ran the 40 in 4.56. AVG really excels in that short burst speed and agility running the 10 yard in 1.56 and the 3 cone at 6.86, fantastic for his size. Many WR’s and DB’s can’t post times that good. His 4.14 20 yard shuttle shows elite quick burst speed. Speed is his game so don’t expect AVG to ever exceed 245 lbs, he’s not a power player.

What can we expect from this much unheralded player who quietly made himself known to Miami Dolphins fans? Playing in only 46% of the snaps, AVG posted some heady stats in limited playing time. 48 total tackles (29 solo), 10 QB hits, 5.5 sacks, 3 FF’s, 1 FR returned for a TD, 7 TFL and 4 passes defensed. Well rounded numbers showing legitimate versatility. With KVN gone this season, AVG is the started opposite Phillips who will be playing the strong side. Will AVG be able to withstand more snaps and will his body be able to endure more snaps? We’re going to find out because I believe he will be given every chance to do that and will play as many snaps as he can. One thing I do know is the league has definitely shifted towards speed, and this year, the Dolphins defense has the speed to match up. Even big Benardrick McKinney who will be side by side in the middle with Jerome Baker can run well. He’s the sole LB who doesn’t cut the sub 4.6 threshold but his 4.66 is nothing to sneeze at considering his 6’4 260 size. McKinney is a thumper that can move though, and that’s good considering Elandon Roberts is returning from an injury sustained the second to last week of the season. He may not available to the Dolphins defense until mid season.

If more playing time is better for AVG then it’s not unrealistic to think AVG may nearly double his sack total to 10 or more, and his QB hit number to close to 20. With the added attention Phillips and Ogbah will likely garner, it’s not crazy really. The one thing we don’t know is what AVG’s body can endure. Some guys are relief pitchers simply because they get exposed the longer they are out there. Will that be true of AVG? I for one don’t believe so, I think he will shine once again, but time will tell.

GO DOLPHINS!!!

One of our unsung heroes of last year. Dude consistently made big time stops when we needed him to.
    ——————
Absolutely agreed. Happy he’s back with us.

  2. mf13ss says:

Steve, your 12:05 PM video is great! I don’t recall what movie the clips were taken from, though. I want to say one of the Austin Powers movies, but I don’t think that’s the right answer.

  3. mf13ss says:

I tracked down the Elandon Roberts hit on Frank Gore that was referenced above by Cameron Wolfe’s tweet. You can find it at the 7:20 mark on the video below…

  5. Rockphin says:

I hadn’t realized that Ogbah had been so productive

“66 QB pressures ranked third among all edge defenders (PFF) and his 26 run stops checked in inside the top 20. ……., Ogbah filled up the stat sheet. He added five batted passes and three forced fumbles, including two that were scooped and scored by his teammates.”

    • Rockphin says:

Nine sacks is pretty good, but 66 pressures is better.

    • stangerx says:

He had a great year. Only thing is his production dropped off towards the end of the year, but think that was cause opposing Ds were scheming against him…. which is a mark of respect.

      • mf13ss says:

100% agreed, Stanger. So the thought is, with Jaelan Phillips coming off the edge opposite Ogbah, Ogbah can no longer be doubled. It’s looking good for us on paper this year!

      • stangerx says:

Yep — Reason they put the first into Phillips. Now they can double Ogbah or Phillips but not both unless willing to go with one less receiving option. Sorta like how it works with Waddle, Fuller and Parker. Like have said before…. the guys who can demand a double on either side deserve the big money.

    • steveccnv says:

What I like about him is he plays man ball productively.

What I mean by that is he doesn’t have to go around the OL, he can go thru them too.

QB coming his way, he doesn’t pick a side, he moves the OL out of the way.

My only knock on JT was he didn’t have a physical side too him

“I want you to know, and I want everyone to know, I want America to know, that the United States military is an apolitical institution — we were then, we are now — and our oath is to the Constitution, not to any individual at all, And the military did not and will not and should not ever get involved in domestic politics. We don’t arbitrate elections. That’s the job of the judiciary and the legislature and the American people. It is not the job of the U.S. military. We stayed out of politics, we’re an apolitical institution.”

    — Joint Chiefs Chairman General Mark Milley at a press conference today. Comforting and way it should be.

Another political hack posing as something else

Two of the nation’s top military leaders pushed back on questions about critical race theory being taught within the military and reiterated their commitment to keeping the Pentagon out of politics during a Wednesday press conference.

Both Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Gen. Mark Milley declared the U.S. military an “apolitical” entity.

Milley had declined to comment in response to a question about recent books claiming he was worried former President Donald Trump might try and stay in office after January 20.

I guess this time am guilty, even if unintentionally. Found Milley’s comment to be about the military not being political. And pretty sure that is what he did say.
    ————–
LOL, yes, you ARE guilty this time, Stanger. I highly suggest you go back to what Milley has said and done, prior to just today’s quote, which you posted.

    • stangerx says:

I am aware of what is in the books coming out and his public statement on CRT. I liked what he said today. And no one said they didn’t like it….. only the person. If that is the way things work now then doesn’t really matter what anyone says.

Did you disagree with what he said?

      • mf13ss says:

Maaaan! I’m really NOT trying to talk politics on this board.

Secondly, I absolutely disagree with what Milley has said, prior to his less than apology you posted today.

      • stangerx says:

You are not trying to talk politics but yet you did. What about what he said do you disagree with. Strongly think the military should not be political. If you want to say he said it but didn’t mean it…. that’s a different subject.

  15. mf13ss says:

Not sure that anybody here only comes to talk politics. If the topic comes up, fine… just be well aware that hanging curveballs WILL be hit out of the stadium by the opposition.

  16. Rockphin says:

Someone asked me the other day what my biggest concern about this season is and I couldn’t give him a quick / simple answer at the time. I’ve thought about it for a couple of days now and my biggest concern is the Co-Coordinators and hearing that it is a new offensive language again. Co-Co better get their shit implemented quickly I hate the coordinator turn over with Flores so far. It concerns me.

    • mf13ss says:

Same here, Rockphin. It’s going to be interesting to see how this co-coordinator thing is going to work.

  17. Rockphin says:

I guess it is all really semantics anyway. Belicheat didn’t have a Defensive coordinator. Flores didn’t have that title in NE regardless of what they call them, I just hope that everyone has well defined responsibilities

    • The Flying Pig says:

I don’t care about what they call themselves of whether they have ambiguous roles on the team

I just hope these days are behind us

  18. The Flying Pig says:

In terms of biggest concerns I’m concerned with

    1. Whether Tua actually takes another step
    2. Whether we can run the ball
    3. Injuries – I don’t want one of those seasons when everything goes wrong

    I have faith in Tua

But, If he doesn’t show improvement, that’s going to affect how I see the future of this team

  19. Tim Knight says:

I think we overreact to systems and language sometimes. Players have been through this before. It’s football. Even if they call plays different names, it’s the same thing they’ve all played in before. It’s not like they get the playbook a week before the season starts. The biggest thing for me is chemistry and being on the same page more often than not each play.

At the end of the day it’s about making plays with talent. And as for the co-coordinators, I think a lot of people view it like the two of them will argue about what to call all the time. That’s not going to happen, it can’t happen. They’ll have a game plan and follow it within situational football as the game goes on. I can’t say I know who will call the plays, but that will be decided as well. You can’t have confusion and bickering on the clock. Anyone think Flores is going to let that happen? I don’t.

  20. Tim Knight says:

M13, you can’t keep dipping your toes into politic waters and then bail out because the water is too cold. LOL

Speak your mind like everyone else does and stick to it. If you don’t want to get involved, don’t! I have bailed on a lot of political discussions here for quite some time and then chime in here and there. But I own what I said. I try to keep football and the Dolphins the topic and watch it get overrun by political discussions as if I never posted anything. I back off and check in when I think the time is right and sometimes that doesn’t work either.

Once camp starts, I think we should all make a pact that it’s Dolphins and football most of the time unless something in current events is a big deal. I’ll start by signing that petition. 🙂

And it’s almost football season already

It’s time to get back to fundamentals

And fundamentals for us is 🏈

Sometimes we all just need to reset and focus on 🏈

It’s time IMO to do that

  24. Tim Knight says:

We all know nothing will be solved politically on this blog and discussing it will cause dissension. Discussing our young Dolphins team is a much more positive and interesting conversation. Just the way I see it. Go Phins!!!!

  25. CavalierKong says:

I’ll say I’d love for the political talk to stop. It’s like watching a fall-down drunk yelling at his bowl of peanuts…

Amusing at first, then just tiresome when you realize it’s the same conversation over and over, and neither the drunk nor the peanuts gives a shit what the other is saying, only what they themselves are saying.

  26. CavalierKong says:

Phel, I did an interesting cook last night. It was triptip in the style of a brisket (colloquially called a trisket).

Triptip is usually cooked anywhere from about 120-145 depending on your taste. This trisket you cook really slow to about 140, then wrap like a brisket and cook slow to about 200, and I’ll be damned if it wasn’t very similar in taste and texture to a brisket cook, only it was done in about 5 hours instead of 12-18 and with a much smaller roast (2-3 lbs), so perfect for a few people instead of a whole crowd with a 10-15 lb brisket.

If you’d told me you can cook a triptip to 200 degrees and it would be fantastic, I wouldn’t have believed it, lol.

  29. Tim Knight says:

Here’s where I am with the X situation. I want him on the team and starting week 1. No idea what it will take to make that happen. But if we move on from him, Iggy better be ready. He mostly worked as a boundary corner last year with the coaches not wanting to put too much on his plate. I’d rather have X and Iggy for depth for Jones too.

  30. CavalierKong says:

Phel, it was my first time, and there are a few things I’d do different than on my first cook. It’s a B-side BBQ cook, so there isn’t a lot online about it. Just a few recipes that have varied methods.

I’ve found some recipes that say to wet brine it, which I found odd. I’ll marinate red meat, but I can’t think of any red meat I wet brine. I did a wet brine for this cook because it made sense to me to keep it from drying out, but what happened was the meat was so wet and giving up so much moisture during the cook that my bark didn’t set for ages, and I had to cook it a lot longer unwrapped than I would have liked to. I had to cook through half of the stall before I could wrap, then increased my temp for the rest of the cook so I could get it done without waiting all night.

So, when I do it again, I won’t wet brine it, I’ll dry brine it overnight, then give it a rub and let it sit while I get my cooker going. The bark should form a lot quicker, and I can get the wrap on earlier. If the bark sets in the right time, you should get the wrap on right before the stall, and it will shorten the cook time without increasing temp. I think ideally it’s an hour to two hours before the wrap, then 3 hours or so to hit 190-200 (depending on the size of the roast of course).

Anyway, just giving you my thoughts on what I did first time and what I’d do differently as you’ll probably see the same recipes online that I did.

    Cheers, bro.

You’re going to bury him for hours?!!!

  32. CavalierKong says:

Fucking Cubs. We gave up 6 runs in the 9th yesterday (blowing a 5 run lead) to lose. We give up another lead in the 9th today and will probably lose this game too. Right when it looked like we were turning things around after beating the Giants 4 out of 6 in the last couple of series.

I don’t know what it is about this team, but every time we start to turn it around, we lose a couple of games we shouldn’t and continue to hover around .500. I blame coaching. We are a much better roster than .500.

And now we just hit two batters in a row to load the effing bases in the 9th.

  33. Krishna says:

Feasts, flying fucking, football, farce, fuckface X, fest……food for thought today.

  34. the sooner one turns off Fox propaganda network, the sooner life will return for the viewer, and their community

remember what i said, if a network is spewing hate and fear 24/7, there is no truth to it all,

if you believe that the military should be defunded, then Fox has pulled You down the rabbit hole

if you believe that Milley, a highly decorated 4 star general with 4 decades of service, is unamerican for sticking up for the constitution, human rights, and democracy, propaganda t v has got you, and made U their bitch

the military doesnt need to be defunded, but i wouldnt mind seeing the hate and fearmongers defunded. they are total nazi propaganda tv, not to be believed

roger ailles ran a different state tv before Fox, called TVN, they also claimed to be fair and balanced, lol

obviously, Murdock and Ailles knew propaganda tv was profitable, and rolled with it

these assholes succeeded in what they set out to do, fleece the viewers with fear and hate for profit

  35. political talk wont stop, until bloggers turn Fox OFF

Fox brainwashes and triggers its viewers to the point they cannot get facts straight, they dont take their health seriously, and independent thought doesnt happen

even worse, they will push the fox talking points to the point they lose family. friends, and so on

i will get accused of political talk, but im talking about people, not politics

fearmongering and hate networks are bad for people, and relationships, and makes it impossible for fox viewers to fit into modern society

the easy solution is to turn off the murdoch and ailles nazi tv, not so much for you, but for OTHERS who dont want to get sucked down a tucker fearwagon with flat tires

    • The Flying Pig says:

You may not realize it, but that’s a political post

I am aware you aren’t the only one who does it.

But it still needs to stop

This isn’t a forum that is created for politics
It’s created for Miami Dolphin Football

The fact that we have all engaged in politics from time to time is just a sign of the times and a fact of life when you talk enough with other people

But it’s a stage now when it’s overwhelming the blog and we all need to push back a little on political talk here in my opinion

So everyone needs to show some restraint

You can’t control what other people watch or think. But you can certainly control yourself – and that’s the only thing people should be doing

Like Rock said, show some restraint

  36. Rockphin says:

As they pointed out in the GMFB video above we should know pretty early what we have in this years team. Buffalo EMBARRASSED / BEAT DOWN / DESTROYED / HUMILIATED the Dolphins twice last year, scoring over 90 points in two games against out team who’s strength was defense. It was like watching a poodle fight a pitbull. I still blush to think about it, that’s how embarrassing it was. They need an answer for Allen and that team if we even hope to be in the discussion in December this season.

    • bailbondmike says:

Yeah, I think our D got wore down both games. Will definitely need to put up points early against them and not let up.

    • The Flying Pig says:

I wonder if this Bills offense isn’t much different than the Bills offense in the 90s

At least in terms of weaknesses

Run the ball and control the clock

Buffalo can score fast, but if they have limited opportunities to score, they will be one mistake away from disaster

      • steveccnv says:

GIving up 90 pts to a team in 2 games and scoring much less, as we did last year, the blame goes to everyone in all 3 phases.

STs in game 2 gave up field position and a punt return TD I believe.

The O couldn’t move the ball and turned it over frequently.

The D wasn’t good, but didn’t get any help.

The dynamic of the D was changed I belive, because of the Buffalo game and not matching up with them.

We aren’t that far behind them, we don’t have to play 4 corners to beat them

  45. mf13ss says:

Cav Kong, I’m thinking maybe the tweet by Duce was merely him seeing X on the streets of New Orleans. He probably thought, ‘Wow! Didn’t think I’d bump into YOU here!’… or something along those lines.

That tweet could be taken in any 1 of 6,000,00 ways, and Dolphins Twitter (not our beat writers) go running to their Twitter devices to say, ‘OOOH! OOOH! I’m the first to report it! X to the Saints!!!’.

      • mf13ss says:

Even that can be taken out of context, but generally speaking, yes. And for all we know, Duce may have taken to trip to Miami Beach before camp and saw X out and about.

There’s nothing definitive to take away from Duce’s tweet.

Get ready for a boatload of rumors regarding X, fast and furiously this week.

“VERY SAFE MRNA vaccine”? I’m not sure I’d categorize it as such, Rockphin. Reports from across the globe are showing that MANY people are dying from the vax itself. Plus, the side-effects are unknown, being it was rushed to the public. The vax never underwent clinical trials for short, medium, or long-term effects.

Yeah, I refuse to engage with the willfully ignorant.
    ——————–
I’m sorry you feel that way, Rockphin. So what happened to “My body, my choice”? And if you’ve been vaccinated, why so adamant about mandating choices for other people? Honest question, is it not?

    • Rockphin says:

I am not going to engage you in a political discussion on a football blog MF13ss. But I will call BS when people spread misinformation propagated by talk show hosts (not news, tucker is an entertainer, not a news man) there have NOT been MANY people have been killed by the Covid-19 Vaccine. VAERS gets reports of ALL people who die FOR ANY REASON after getting a vaccine. (That is who your boy Tucker sites in his fear mongering)

      • mf13ss says:

Fair enough, nor do I really want to get into a political discussion, period, on a football blog either. Just don’t be so fast to call out DeAndre Hopkins… he has the right to not take the vax, last I checked: he is an American.

  59. The Flying Pig says:

Well at least it’s kind of football related

    • mf13ss says:

Right? I’m just happy that we’ve not traded X (yet).

What are your thoughts on X, Pig?

      • The Flying Pig says:

I say keep him until the trade deadline approaches

If he holds out then, then take trading him seriously

You aren’t increasing his value by trading him now

These things happen to all teams with good players. It’s just business.

      • mf13ss says:

I think that’s a good strategy! I just hope we can find a way to keep X. I feel he should have won DPOY last year and benefits our entire Defense.

The fucked up thing is you can be fully vaccinated and still get COVID, test positive and pass it on to others. When will people realize this?

It only boosts your immunity to fight it if you get it.

EXACTLY! Yet, it’s being advertised to the public as a 100% vax… so misleading, intentionally, at that.

    ****

I don’t understand this point of view at all so I am asking to explain

Yes you can contract it, and pass it on to others (at least the delta variant)

But boosting your immunity will make you less likely to catch it for starters

which means you will be less likely to spread it

which also means that higher concentrations of unvaccinated people will cause it to spread faster,

which also means that spreading faster will likely cause hospitals to be overwhelmed,

and anyone in those hospitals will get lesser treatment for anything, COVID or not

And people are more likely to be gravely ill if they catch it and are unvaccinated bc their immunity to it is lower

And it will linger longer bc it’s more serious bc immunity wasn’t boosted,

Which will makes it more likely to spread (bc it’s stays around longer) and not go away

If you understand that the vaccine boosts your immunity, why aren’t you drawing the conclusions to the benefit of boosting immunity and the harm to not boosting your immunity instead of being concerned with the fact that it’s not perfect

    • mf13ss says:

I’m going to answer you as short a possible, and kindly: there’s not been enough research done to see what the side-effects could be, being it was rushed. I’m not an anti-vaxer, but I need to see the short, medium, and long-term effects of a new drug before taking it.

      • The Flying Pig says:

Think there is a lot of data on the side effects out there
And so far it doesn’t seem severe

Sometimes there’s a balancing act on risks worth taking
And I think just bolstering your immunity is worth taking that risk

      • mf13ss says:

Not enough data out there for me, Pig. I hear ya, man… but I need to see more. I mean, we’re only talking about a year out from its deployment, and I continue to see all these lawyer advertisements on TV about ‘if you took this drug and it funked you up, you deserve compensation…

I’d rather be safe than sorry, nothing more. It’s not even political to me. I’ve got a very healthy immune system, plus I’ve got the antigens in me being I had COVID before. What’s more, I’ve never had a flu shot, being I rarely get sick.

Honestly, I do not trust the profiteering of BIG PHARMA… I think that’s something most liberals and I can agree upon.

  69. Mike E. says:

M – That kind of thinking will have you never taking any drugs at all, even if you need them. Some drugs have been out for years and then many years later they find out side effects that may be harmful. I understand the reluctance to try something that hasn’t been approved, but those drugs that get into those class action suits HAVE been FDA approved, so that doesn’t really mean much then, does it? I feel like if I do get COVID, I’m relatively safe from getting very sick and that’s peace of mind to me.

    • Krishna says:

To mf13ss’s credit part of the decisionmaking process should knowing one’s body’s strengths and weaknesses.

I have never had the flu vaccine or any vaccine after what was existence for children (polio included) in the early 60’s except for a tetanus to go out of country, I think.

Where his argument fails is there are no long or medium-term studies to rely on as i

      • Krishna says:

……..COVID pandemic started approx December 2019.

As COVID is a SAARS variant, much research was done back then, but vaccine studies were shelved after SAARS resolved in the population.

How can you have medium and LT studies on the effects of vaccine to combat a new virus that’s only been out there for a year or so. You can’t!

        Wait away.

    • Krishna says:

And, as Mike E. pointed out, and I firsthand knowledge drugs approved for morning sickness in 50s for morning sickness affected some daughters when the daughters reached puberty. Most died. • Krishna says:

Terrible wording, but you get the point.

      • Krishna says:

And, that wasn’t even a vaccine, lmao.

Is it safe? Who knows. It’s a personal decision to get a vaccine or not and should not be politicized.

  70. Tim Knight says:

Wow the Jets passing game coordinator Greg Knapp has died from his injuries in a bicycle accident. Sad.

  71. Mike E. says:

Krishna – My point was meds that were FDA approved and on the market for years were found to cause harmful side effects, so even if you wait around, it may take another 10 years before they find out if there are issues with the drug. So waiting a year or so won’t make a difference, but your basic premise is correct.

  72. Krishna says:

I got your point completely and thought I supported you completely. Not sure what your issue is.

  73. CavalierKong says:

Hopkins is being overly dramatic. And this isn’t about freedom and liberty. The players absolutely had a choice again this year to opt out with no repercussion other than losing this year’s salary. No one is making them take the vax. The difference this year is they won’t get paid to opt out unless they are in a high risk category.

If they want to play in the NFL, then there are repercussions if they don’t get vaxxed (just like all choices in life have effects). But it is still their choice. They don’t have a right to play football and not follow the rules of the league, but they do have the freedom of choice.

The NFL put what measures they wanted in place, in agreement with the NFLPA. It’s a money making league and they will do what they need to to protect it.

    • mf13ss says:

Respectfully to you, Cav Kong, I haven’t heard anything about an opt-out option this year for the players. Can you cite a reputable source, sir?

      • CavalierKong says:

Sure bro. I usually cite. I just thought this was common knowledge or I would have on this too.

        https://www.nfl.com/news/roundup-no-players-believed-to-have-opted-out-of-2021-season-as-deadline-passes

Personally, I understand the position of not wanting to take a vax with less than 2 years of study, and to me it transcends politics.

I thought long and hard before getting vaxxed myself and was happy to get the J&J because it uses the same old technology as its delivery system.

I don’t think people should be castigated for not wanting it, and the only reason I call Hopkins overly dramatic is because he had the option to sit it out, it doesn’t have to be retirement talk. And I wouldn’t fault him one bit if he chose to sit this year out.

      • mf13ss says:

        Thank you, Bro.

  74. mf13ss says:

I give up. LOL, and what on Earth is SAARS? Sorry, but you’d have lost on either ‘Wheel of Fortune’ or ‘Jeopardy!’. Lecturing doesn’t go well with me when one couldn’t even have won on a mere game show.

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that can cause illnesses such as the common cold, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). In 2019, a new coronavirus was identified as the cause of a disease outbreak that originated in China.

The virus is now known as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease it causes is called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic.

And, a completely different direction, but related, but I do believe OUR (USA) medical system is fear-based and symptom relief. I don’t believe and know it’s not health-centered and preventative from a lifestyle perspective.

Oops, vaccines are preventative, I forgot. Especially, Hep-C for the infant.

I get the medical backlash, some of it’s earned, some of it’s self’inflicted, and some of it’s bullshit.

      • Krishna says:

I didn’t say don’t trust or have a lack of trust. Caveat emptor is not that. I just ask as many questions as I can until I understand. I’m not a blind faith follower. Never have been.

      • wyoming85 says:

If you die because you didn’t want to go to the doctor is that a big deal to the rest of us?

      • Tim Knight says:

Lots of people avoid taking strong PHARMA drugs and stick with aspirin, Tylenol etc. Time trusted remedies. It all comes down to choice. What you put in your body in so many ways is choice good or bad. How much do we want to regulate ourselves is the big debate. I’m not looking to get deep into it but that’s what it is.

I don’t think people realize we all have a little bit of dictator in us. What we think is real is very important whether we know enough about something or not. It’s part of our human instincts. We’re the only species that we know that spends time on things that has nothing to do with survival. I don’t think whales have their version of the National Enquirer. LOL

Get the fax or don’t. If you get the fax and grow a third eyeball later, oh well. Your fault. If you don’t get the fax and die of COVID, oh well. Your fault. Neither case is anyone else’s business.

Krishna – This is what I was talking about. One side is afraid of getting COVID. The other side is afraid of side effects and losing their rights. Both sides are afraid and see their fear as a virtue.

    • Krishna says:

No, it is not a virtue.

And, as wyo stated and I agree he’s willing to accept the consequences of his decisions and not going to play the victim. Kudos.

    • The Flying Pig says:

compare the likelihood of those two things happening
      1. Get the vaccine and grow a third eye
      2. Don’t get it and die

These are not equal by any stretch of the imagination

The first has never happened and the second is a very real thing

Let’s not talk about these things like they are the same or similar in any way

      • pheloniusphish says:

Third eye was a metaphor for side effects. Which most certainly have happened and are very real things. Being afraid of contracting COVID and dying, and being afraid of side effects from taking the shot are exactly alike. And while I don’t have the numbers at hand, I would bet they happen at about the same occurrence rate. If you are afraid of it and still wear masks/get shot/don’t get shots, it does not make you morally superior to someone who is not, it just makes you afraid.

“The Washington Post zeroed in on D.C. and reported that 375,000 of the city’s 692,000 residents have been vaccinated. Of those, 200 have tested positive for the virus, 13 have been hospitalized and four have died.”
        In DC:
        2.3% chance of catching it
6% chance of being hospitalized if you catch it (0.000018% chance of being hospitalized for the entire population)
31% chance of dying if you are hospitalized (0.000006% chance of dying for the entire population)

Get the shot or don’t – just stop all the whining to justify whichever you are doing. (In general, not the specific you.)

      • pheloniusphish says:

Also in DC – a 2% chance of dying if you get COVID.

      • Krishna says:

It’s a risk/reward decision for sure. Shouldn’t one be allowed to make their own decisions, take risks no matter the consequences. This is daily life.

It’s the false information that people on this blog mirroring the false information put out to the public that I object to.

It’s harder to make well-informed decisions for you and your family and understand the risks when facts and “alternative facts” are both held out as truth.

Don’t judge me if my personal choices don’t agree with yours.

Segue to football, if Ricky chose to smoke pot instead of following the NFL rules and accept the consequences, let him, don’t judge him.

If I choose not to get the vaccination against the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, and die, no one should care. I won’t be one of those dying and asking for the vaccination with my last breaths. I will be asking for morphine to make the journey blissful.

Please don’t follow my lead, for sure. Make your own decisions!

Most the data I read indicates that my decision to get the vaccine has made me safer
So it doesn’t make a difference to me that other people make poor decisions

But I’m not going to sugarcoat it either – it’s a dumb decision not to get vaccinated
Please don’t pretend that the decision to get vaccinated and the decision not to are somehow equal and someday we will know the true risks – we already know the dangers, and one is considerably riskier

    • steveccnv says:

Lol, I have no interest in being the vaccine police

      But…

Just as there is in politics, there’s 2 sides to every issue and yours is wrong 😉

      • The Flying Pig says:

I have no interest in being the vaccine police but I’m going to judge you harshly if you make dumb decisions

If you don’t understand this, you ar the one with the issue

  85. Krishna says:

“poor decision” or “dumb decision” vs decision. Sounds like judgement to me.

Thank you for deciding for me what’s in my best interest.

  86. D says:

Seems to me the NFL players have the right of refusal, and the league has the right of refusal as well if its in a NFLPA agreed upon mandate that all players must be vaccinated, or any other restriction put on players/teams if they have unvaccinated players or staff. Just simply the fact, without any of the bias of pro vax/anti vax. In any job it doesn’t flipping matter what the right answer is it only matters what their bi-laws say.

As far as the vaccine, if ya dig past all the politics, and read the fine print it doesn’t say you wont get it, it basically says you will have immunities towards it, lessening your chance of getting THAT VARIANT, and likely overall your symptoms will be lessened for that and possibly other variants that share a similar DNA,

It doesn’t seem to me to be a big deal to get it, but it also is concerning some of the push there seems to be by those that are not hailing it for what it is, but dfor something much more grand, or on the flip demonizing it. Simply put, do what’s best for you. There may be risks on either side of the argument and if its the case that one outweighs the other for you, choose the one you are prepared to live with the consequences of.

Kinda my point, not everyone has the same life experiences, not everyone believes the same, etc, some are just being cautious and giving it some time to really show its true colors, there are so many different belief systems in play, we dont need to step on anyone elses. Thats not a Vaxxer/Anti-vaxxer statement, its the reality of this situation

    • Phindog says:

And that was my choice, I’m not telling anyone what to do. Both me and my son got the vax but my wife has not done so and that’s her choice and I’m ok with that.

  88. D says:

The thing about the risk assessment is its personal Piggy, and your assessment given your beliefs and current situation could be different for others. In this case “reality” is in the eye of the beholder there is a true truth out there as there always is, but with as much agenda and politics and media influence, its hard to truly find that information to come to anything but a personal decision on it and to my feelings all should be respected

  93. Mike E. says:

If y’all want some perspective that’s kind of nice to see, on this blog, the people who are vaccinated and pro-vax and the people who are not vaccinated and at least temporarily ant-vax are littered all across the political spectrum, all the way from the left to all the way right. How bout that?!!!

    • Phindog says:

So I think what you said was people that got the vax and people who didn’t represent both sides of the left and right do to their beliefs and not political affiliation . Well I think that’s awesome. Good that we can make a choice and not be forced to.

  94. bailbondmike says:

Why do I shy away from vaccines even though I know their success in building immunity against virus and disease?

You can call it fear. I call it a lack of trust. It comes from a series of “Why’s” that go unanswered.

WHY IS BILL GATES SO INVOLVED WITH THIS VACCINE?
WHY in 2009 did Bill Gates meet with Warren Buffet, David Rockefeller, Eli Broad, Oprah, George Soros, Ted Turner, Michael Bloomberg and others to discuss world depopulation? Keep in mind, Bill Gates father was a big proponent of birth control, abortion and planned parenthood before he passed.
WHY did all these billionaires then donate millions (Warren Buffet 31 million alone) to Gates Foundation population control efforts?
WHY, a year later in 2010, did Gates say in an interview “If we do a really good job on NEW VACCINES, health care, reproductive health care services we can lower the population by 10 or 15 percent.” in the same breathe.
WHY did he tie vaccines and reproductive health in the same sentence?
WHY again in a 2011 CNN interview did he repeat, “The benefits of vaccines are there in terms of reducing sickness and REDUCING POPULATION GROWTH.”?
Gates’ obsession with vaccines is accompanied by a sinister agenda for population reduction. This concern was brought forth by the Catholic Church where it materialized in Kenya in 2014 when of 3 million women there unknowingly received vaccinations from the Gates-funded World Health Organization that were secretly laced with a sterilant and contraceptive. It was denied by the corrupt WHO but proven true in 2017. (In 1988 a huge grant was given to India for “a large anti-fertility vaccine for women)
Rockefeller funded the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute that was exposed for sterilizing 600 French African children.
Ted Turner is a bigger nut job in regard to world population reduction. In 1996 Turner said, “We’re all 5 billion of us on this little earth swimming around in space, and there’s too many of us,” he said. “If we had a much smaller population . . . we could cut back to 250 million—350 million people.”
WHO constructed the Georgia Guides Stones? Many believe it was these billionaires (Turner).
WHY does the very first Guide stone say “Maintain humanity under 500 million in perpetual balance with nature.”
From the writings of Bertrand Russell in “The Impact of Science on Society”, ““I do not pretend that birth control is the only way in which population can be kept from increasing. “War so far has had no great effect on this increase . . . perhaps bacteriological war may prove more effective. If a Black Death could be spread throughout the world once in every generation, survivors could procreate freely without making the world too full . . . the state of affairs might be somewhat unpleasant, but what of it? Really high-minded people are indifferent to suffering, especially that of other people’s.”
Crazy thing is there are many philosophers who write about population control going back to Plato.
WHO are the “high-minded people” in our generation today he would be talking about? Hmm, Gates, Turner, Rockefeller, etc.?
WHY, in 2014, did Obama say that “it would not fund new projects that involved gain-of-function research”? To CYA maybe?
WHY, in 2015, did the Wuhan lab get millions from us (indirectly) for research though they say it was not for gain-of function research?
WHY, in 2017, did Dr. Fauci give a clear and matter-of-fact speech right before Trump’s inauguration stating that there WILL BE be a “SUPRISE OUTBREAK” and it WILL OCCUR during the Trump Administration?
WHY did he also say that “THERE IS NO QUESTION that there WILL BE be a challenge to the coming administration in the arena of infectious diseases”? He knew years before this pandemic was going to happen.
WHY did he also say, “The mistake that so many people have made … is a FAILURE TO LOOK BEYOND OUR OWN BORDERS in the issue of the globality of health issues, not only things that are there that will come here but SURPRISES THAT WE’LL HAVE”?
WHY, when the pandemic first hit, did all the politicians on the left who are heavily funded by the above billionaires say it was nothing and danced in the streets like Pelosi in Chinatown?
WHY did those politicians condemn the president for the travel bans?
WHY, in March 2020, did Dr. Fauci say that masks will not help? (“they do not provide the level of protection people think they do.”)
(regarding last 3 questions)Did they want to ensure it becomes wide spread on purpose as directed by their elite donors to incite panic and rush to get vaccinated?
WHY, is depopulationist Bill Gates so involved with this vaccine???
WHY, in all the dozens of Bill Gates interviews regarding the pandemic and vaccine, does he look like a smiling giddy school boy?
WHY are they now taking away constitutional rights to force people to get vaccinated?
WHY, through extremism and propaganda are they purposely dividing this nation politically and racially?
WHY are they herding us into different groups?

I know. All these fact checkers (who work for these tech giants) said Gates was taken out of context with his past comments. Bla, bla, bla.

Unfortunately this is so long that many of you won’t read it.

I choose not to get vaccinated because I have no trust. I support everyone’s right to chose to get it or not without consequence.

Well I read it, and agree with you 100%

But you know how it is…it’s just a conspiracy like everything else

    Griffen vs Eguavoen

Which Dolphin would be most threatened by signing Shaquem Griffin?

Because Griffin has that 4.38 speed, think it evens out some with his arm.

Do you want the guy that can run like the wind or the guy with 2 good arms.

Think I’d rather have the more explosive Griffin

I think Piggy made it pretty clear it’s his opinion and he admitted to judging. Why all of a sudden is judging here frowned upon, for fucks sake it’s done here every day?

    Thanks Mike

It’s unbelievable that people are suggesting that it’s their choice to make but “don’t judge me for the choices I make”

    Wtf

If it’s your choice, your accountable for it
Including dealing with the judgments of people who disagree

And I’m being as clear as day about what I think of that decision

    Its fucking dumb!

You can’t have your cake and eat it too
    I’m against mandates
But if you can’t take advantage of all the information available to come to better conclusion – I’m going to judge you

    And maybe I’m wrong
Maybe my strong opinion is wrong

You get to judge me if I’m wrong in this subject and rub it in my face later
    And I’ll deal with it

But if you guys were being honest with yourself instead of just rationalizing why it’s okay, I think you would come to terms that I’m playing with house money on this subject and you are taking enormous risks

If I decided to sunbathe on top a lit bbq – I bet you guys would say, that’s pretty stupid
Piggy. And you would be right.

If you are fighting for the chance to make your own choices – I get that
    But please make responsible choices
