This is it folks! Last game of the 2021 Preseason. Coach Flores has already put it out there most starters will sit so this is the opportunity for all those players on the roster bubble to make their case to be on the 53. It’s also a good chance to see what the depth looks like because during a season, injuries always rear their ugly head and you need solid depth to stay ahead during the season.
Jacoby Brissett will most likely see a fair amount of action and it’s important for him to show he knows the offense and can run the team in Tua’s absence. There’s always the question as to whether the Dolphins will carry 2 or 3 QB’s, my guess would be just 2. Reid Sinnett will end up on the PS and give the Dolphins another precious roster spot. Recent moves have made the WR depth much clearer. The Dolphins placed 2nd year WR Lynn Bowden Jr. on IR ending his season. The Dolphins also waived WR’s Robert Foster and Isaiah Ford. Veteran Allen Hurns was placed on IR earlier so the only bodies left are Will Fuller (Inactive Week 1), DeVante Parker, Albert Wilson, Jaylen Waddle,Preston Williams, Mack Hollins, Jakeem Grant, Kirk Merritt and Malcolm Perry. 9 WR’s , 6 for week 1. One has to go and I feel it will be Malcolm Perry. WIll the big bodied and oft injured Williams hold off equally as large and ace ST’s player Mack Hollins? I don’t think so. Merritt has had a strong preseason so he has a leg up, but there is still game 3 for Perry to change that. However, it looks very much like we’ll have Parker, Wilson, Waddle, Hollins, Grant and Merritt for the first game against the Patriots.
I expect us to carry 4 TE’s, Gesicki, Shaheen, Long and probably Smythe due to his blocking abilities. Myarick could steal his spot, and who knows, maybe it’s Shaheen that gets cut, but it sure seemed like they like Shaheen. Cethan carter also earn as a spot as an H-back/FB/TC, or maybe Long goes on IR because of his injury.
At RB, I think we’ll carry 4 into the regular season, the clear choices right now are the first 3, Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed and Malcolm Brown. After that it’s a real tossup as to whether 2021 7th RD pick rookie Gerrid Doaks makes it, or veteran Patrick Laird or a surprise like Jordan Scarlett. Game 3 will probably have a lot to say about which guy makes it!
On the O-line, still not decided (as far as we know), but I’m sticking with my prediction of Jackson-Kindley-Deiter-Hunt-Eichenberg. Still possible that either Eichenberg starts at LG over Kindley and Jesse Davis starts at RT but I believe it will be the former. Jermaine Eluemunor has also been released. You have to figure we carry at least if not 9 OL so the aforementioned 5 plus Davis, Skura, Little and either Coleman or Pankey.
On defense, despite not seeing a lot of Jaelan Phillips, I still think he’s going to be a major part of our defense. AVG looks ready to be right where he left off last season, and that’s a good thing. I really love our depth at LB with AVG, Baker, McKinney, Phillips, Roberts, Eguavoen, Riley, Biegel. Not sure if Griffin makes that final cut, especially since Roberts has been activated.
On the DL we have the usual Wilkins-Davis-Ogbah, followed by Sieler, Jenkins, Butler and Strowbridge. More than likely that last spot will be up for grabs between Jason Strowbridge and Jonathan Ledbetter, unless we carry 8 DL, which is possible. Benito Jones is still in the mix but Tyshun Render was moved to LB where he faces tough odds against the previously mentioned group.
The Dolphins strong secondary will be led by All-Pro Xavien Howard and Byron Jones at CB along with Nik Needham who refuses to give ground to 2020 1st RD pick Noah Igbinoghene. Good on Needham, who just keeps working hard! The safety group looks Rowe and impressive rookie Jevon Holland, followed by vet Jason McCourty, Clayton Fejedelem (ST’s ace), Brandon Jones (2020 3rd RD pick), Jamal Perry and Nate WIlliams. Probably 4 will make it here among the safeties with 6 CB’s. Perry and Williams are as good as gone leaving perhaps a battle between Fejedelem and Jones or we carry 5 safeties. CB’s should be Howard, Jones, Needham, Igbinoghene, Coleman, McCourty who can play both CB/S
Special teams will be standout PK Jason Sanders as well as newly acquired P Michael Palardy. Jakeem Grant and Jaylen Waddle as well as Noah Igbinoghene will handle the return duties. Long snapper Blake Ferguson returns.
There will always be some surprise cuts, some of the players I have making the roster won’t and some I have being cut won’t get cut. It’s fun to see how things shape up, let’s just hope that injuries don’t make these decisions for the team.
GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Watson is Houstons problem, i fail to see why the Dolphins would want to gut their drafts for another teams problem
Additional quirk … Fuller played with Watson. VERY successfully.
Not only played together but are best buddies. Read a story about how they always stayed after practice and worked red zone plays together. Then picked up Fuller for my FF team. One of the best FF moves ever made.
A team is not about a QB and one WR. We watched Marino and the Mark Brothers go 8-8 a few times. Come on, man! 😉
Just adding some info that some might not have into the dynamic since that was years ago. And to me helps explain why Watson has made clear that the Dolphins are a team he would like to play for.
The only way I see us getting Watson is with a ton of guarantees and with the idea Tua is still starting for us game 1 and it’s his spot to lose. We stash Watson as our backup QB as a break in case of emergency if Tua bombs, and if he isn’t available this year, then it doesn’t change our approach. Once he gets his legal troubles resolved, the compensation gets locked in, and next year they compete. If his legal troubles blow up, then supposedly we don’t give up much in the way of capital.
There are all sorts of problems to work out with that, not the least of which is his salary, but as I said yesterday, that’s a solvable problem this year, it’s next year it becomes a real issue.
I still won’t believe it until I see it. Just trying to make some sense of the possibility.
Not going to happen
a dolphin fan commented on a news source,,,
the way Grier has drafted lately, it would be better to have watson, than several first round picks for Grier to screw up
Silly comments from an armchair GM. Much of the current team are Grier picks and unless this dolphin fan who commented thinks we suck, which we don’t, what’s his point?
if Grier wastes the Tua pick, then he has somewhat of an argument considering Iggy and Jackson havent lit up the league yet
But the team went 10-6 with all of them as rookies. What was it that Jason Taylor said about patience? 😉
im with patience, i WANT to see Tua starting the next few seasons and see what happens
im shocked that anyone would feel like giving up on Tua already .
when he is just getting started
David, I agree with you on Tua. I don’t get the move on already mentality. You don’t draft a top QB prospect at #5 off of a serious injury without a long term view.
if the Dolphins fail to give Tua a chance this year, it just sucks, he Earned his starting position,
Watson isnt even on the team, nor knows the playbook
Stanger, okay my bad on Rosenhaus not being Watson’s agent. How does he know what Miami is doing? Do Grier and Flores text him?
He’s a super agent, one of the top 3. He’s based in South Florida. He probably represents as much top talent on the Phins as any other 3 agents combined. He has a great working relationship with the front office. His players tend to either stay or it is quickly known they will not. And in this case he not only gets the inside scoop but he highly prizes his reputation on such.
Bottom line is, he doesn’t have any inside knowledge
How do you know he doesn’t? Deals with the front office more than any reporter does. And if he doesn’t…. who that is talking does?
Holy crap! I have it figured out, and it’s effing brilliant.
Could you reiterate?
Sounds like the Texans paid a bunch of Lawson’s salary this year in order to ship him out.
—————————————
“The Texans have traded DE Shaq Lawson to the Jets in exchange for a 2022 sixth-round pick. New York has three sixth-rounders for next year, but are dealing away the one they got last year when they sent Jordan Willis to the 49ers.
Lawson is due $990,000 for this season. He would make $8.9 million in 2022 and then 2023 and 2024 are voidable years.”
It’s the Texans, duh. How does a Dolphins trade with the Texans go?
Teams make trade
Dolphins win
So we’re going to trade for Watson with conditions placed on the trade. We’ll talk them down because of the risk. We will get them to accept our two 1st rd picks in 2023. As part of the trade, we’ll require a rework of Watson’s deal to ease his cap burden for 2021, and also remove the no trade clause.
Watson will not be able to play in 2021. Tua will light it up, and we’ll make the playoffs.
Watson’s legal troubles will be resolved this offseason. At the start of the 2022 season we will trade Watson to the Panthers, Broncos, or other for three 1sts and a 2nd.
Dolphins win
Hmmm… I still don’t like it.
lol, tongue is firmly in cheek
I mean, I’m not so sure Watson’s legal troubles are going to go away… especially in this new society of cancel culture.

OH! I’ve got ya, Bro! LOL
LOL, now that’s thinking ahead.
Sounds like tea and crumpets with old men gossipping about football….lmao!
LOL, “Hand me that scone, and let me tell you what Betsy’s neighbor told the mailman about Watson to Miami.”
“My sister’s neighbor knows a garbage man who is cousins with a guy who’s nephew knew Deshaun in summer camp 14 years ago, and he said…”
LOL, it’s a hot take
Watsons great, Tua sucks!
Any questions?
Yes, where’s the apostrophe in Watsons? LOL
Grammar Geek?
JKBB dude. We have no control over any of this stuff. I’m going to root for the Miami Dolphins regardless of the roster. I don’t have to love it, but I want to love it. LOL
Seriously, a Watson trade to Miami could really throw a monkey wrench into our entire franchise. It better fucking work if you do it. There is no way we keep Tua in that deal, he goes to the Texans. That’s where some of the money comes from. How could Tua feel like the leader and QB for this season with that nonsense hanging over him? It could effect a lot of players on the team.
At the end of the day, I want the drama over and let’s go play some football. I don’t like this constant rumor stuff over and over. We just dealt with it with X. Enough!
Texans arent interested in Tua, they want 3 first round picks, plus a couple second rounders
i dont blame Houston for wanting to unload their problem on us, for draft capitol,
its the Dolphins that have to say no to this lopsided trade, that could sink the progress thats been made
you do what you have to do to make your team better, watson makes this team better.
by winning 4 games? we need much more than that
https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/player
Watson has talent, thats for sure, he helped the Texans win 4 games last year, SMH
even if Watson had no legal troubles, this trade still makes no sense
you may want to look at his numbers, and he di that on a shitty team
if the Dolphins give up several first round picks, watson would be leading another shitty team to 4 wins, still not what we need
Houston was a shitty team because they wasted too many of their draft picks, traded them to Miami
the Dolphins would be wise to avoid making the same mistake
We shall see David, it may all be BS, they may not be able to get a deal done.
thats true, also Watson could be facing suspension from the NFL, obviously a suspended player cant win games either.
i honestly feel its bullshit, if the team gives up on Tua, game one of 2021, but its not up to Me
this is the same team that stuck by chad henne for years, when he was backup QB at best
It’s rather funny that this news is breaking at the end of preseason, when teams have to make their final roster cuts.
Maybe the Texans are tired of the Watson saga, they want that extra roster spot on the 52 and cap relief.
there has to be something motivating the Texans to move Watson right now.
agreed, i dont blame Houston for seeing if they can find someone to take their problem off their hands
i just hope it isnt Miami that is foolish enough to help out the Texans
Flores is trying to steal Watson, any trade would have to be done based, contingent on the legal issues
Texans don’t want to trade him, so to get uninterest they’re asking for a high price, then if the legal troubles go away they’d get their QB back
Thing that doesn’t make sense is why Flores won’t leave it alone, knowing the high price, plus the possible 10m it would cost this year to be on the commissioners exempt list
Watson has said he doesn’t want to play for the Texans, after that statement they should want to trade him if they can get the value.
Did you go back in time? Maybe you put instant coffee in a microwave? LOL
you had better lay off that shit!
Maybe FO are just still feeling guilty about how many picked we got in the Tunsil deal , and feel they should really give a few back 🤷♂️🤔
I’m thinking just the opposite, another fleecing by Grier & co
Give us Watson PLUS your next 3 1sts and 2 2nds ?
If we give up 3 1st rounds picks and whatever else for Deshaun Watson we better be in the AFC Championship game at the least. Yeah… that’s right, I said it. He has to be able to play to do that. Do we know he will from a legal and NFL standpoint? The #metoomovement is watching.
Let’s watch hypocrisy in action. I want nothing to do with Deshaun Watson.
Tua has no legal troubles haunting him, hes a good guy, family man, and a warrior that has earned his starting position
when a man earns his position, he should be given what he has earned IMO
but he sucks
he really does not, you are incorrect on that IMO
Tua has looked excellent this year, knows the playbook and is ready to go, watson isnt even on the team
tua hasn’t played a real nfl game this year.
agreed, so now is not the time to change anything, Tua has earned the starting position, and knows the playbook
he is ready to start game one for Miami, NOBODY else is
what would be the value of watson at this point, do we know if his legal troubles are going away? Legal issues are usually getting ready to settle when both sides are quiet.
with the legal troubles in tow, i may give up a 23 first and roll the dice, anything more would have to come with assurances that we don’t give up multiple 1st for a player who cant play do to legal issues
speaking of earning a position, Kirk Merritt has earned one, and Albert Wilson has NOT
wilson is a slot guy merritt is not
wilson is a injury prone bench warming guy, Merritt is not
ORob, even if Tua wasn’t mind blowing in his rookie year the team went 6-3 in games he played in 2020. If you don’t see a different guy in the 2021 offseason, not sure what to say. The entire makeup of the offense is different this year. You willing to give it a chance?
Orob, the Dolphins season would suffer greatly if they started the year with Watson IMO
he isnt familiar with our offense and playbook and would need time to adjust
the timing on this, is really bad IMO
if the team already has a QB that has earned the starting position, their is no inherent need to go into game one with someone else that isnt ready
the teams best bet is to stick with the guy they already have, that wont cost them anymore picks, isnt in legal trouble, knows the offense, and is ready to go game ONE
David, without your bias does Albert Wilson make the 53? We didn’t see Fuller or Parker and not much of Waddle in the PS either. Wilson had the best TC of anyone. The team knew these guys are making the team, get them ready for the RS.
Wilsons a freeloader IMO. always gets paid millions for doing nothing on the field when the games count
hes a training camp wonder, who plays about as often as a duck walks across the desert, lol
I think Merritt has earned a spot on the roster
Does Wilson make the team?
our WR,s are always battling injuries, and We could benefit from bringing in young guys that are healthy and can play a 17 game season.
cutting WIlson will save alot of money, and weed out the most injury prone WR that Miami has
the chances that WIlson could play all 17 games and possibly a playoff game or two, are almost zero IMO
Wilson hasnt been able to start more than a handful of games in a row, and that was years ago
I honestly think if there is any truth to the rumors, our plan is to keep Tua.
If you’re worried about Watson’s legal troubles and want assurances you don’t have to pay full price if they blow up, how can you not also be worried they blow up you lose Watson and you’ve also lost Tua? Now you don’t have either QB, and you’ve likely still given up something even if it is less than the original deal.
There is no way that’s happening IMO. Not to mention how you screw the beginning of this season minimum because Watson isn’t coming in and lighting it up game 1.
So if there is any truth to a trade, which I still don’t think will happen, I believe Tua would still be in our plans for this year at least.
good points, agreed
Already then! LOL
LOL
Anyone ever think Kirk Merritt maybe beats out Preston Williams for a WR spot?
To me it’s:
Parker, Waddle, Fuller, Wilson, Hollins, Grant and ? We also have big TEs on the team who can catch and run. The difference might be about speed.
I mentioned earlier today that Williams may end up the odd man out, or maybe he goes to IR, so I think it’s possible. We don’t really know how healthy he is, and he hasn’t done anything to speak of this preseason, so…
I know someone else named Williams as a potential surprise cut at least a few days ago, but I don’t remember who it was.
None of these guys played in the last PS game yesterday.
Parker, Waddle, Fuller, Wilson, Grant – did Hollins play a few snaps?
I didn’t see Hollins out there, and I don’t think he played, but I can’t say for certain he didn’t get a snap or two.
Most of us have that same top 6: Parker, Wilson, Waddle, Grant, Fuller, Hollins
I have Williams and Merritt on the bubble, I’m certain we’ll keep at least one on the active roster, and we may keep both. But I think we’ll put the decision off for a week since Fuller is out.
We also have to decide on the TEs: Gesicki, Smythe, Shaheen, Long are my locks. Do we keep 5? Who is #5?
Williams did play briefly today.
So not sure IR is an option for him anymore
It’s speculation 53 man roster time kids. LOL
It’s too bad we don’t have the spreadsheet anymore. That was fun.
Toba, he could have reaggravated something, and if he goes on IR after week 1, he can come back after 3 games this season. I think we can make that work if we choose to go that route.
This is true. I like the guy just wish , like Parker, he could stay healthy
Yep, two years in a row, and I’m not convinced he’s fully healthy right now, so we might not even be fudging it.
I think our whole WR room is going to be musical chairs all season, lol.
Agreed , and I guess that the one plus on Fuller suspension… we have an extra 2 weeks to make a decision on spot 53/54
They will probably do something none of us expect, cut both Merritt and Williams, carry 5 WRs, and use that extra spot week 1 to bring in a 2nd long snapper, lol.
No doubt 😊
Yes Williams played but he missed most of camp. Did Merritt beat him out? Like I said Williams is a big target but our TEs can do that too. Merritt has top end speed and as a 6-1 215 WR might have the edge. The 53 cutdown will be on all of our radars. LOL
Players who didn’t play this last PS game made the team. Go from there.
Did Doaks do enough?
Doaks played well … I still think it comes down to Laird on STs. Laird played well today too.
I have the RBs: Gaskin, Ahmed, Brown are locks
Doaks, Laird, Scarlett, Perry on the bubble.
I have Doaks and Laird making it.
If we only keep 4 I have Doaks over Laird.
Not sure why I put Perry in there, lol
What are your predictions to those questions, Tim? Do you have Doaks and/ or Williams making it?
I’m guessing from above you have Merritt over Williams
If I had to choose I take speed. We have enough big targets. Merritt had a good camp in the PS just like Williams did a couple of years ago. We’ll see.
What I’ve seen from this OL, other than bodies, is 9 a keeper? I’d say 8 and off the street is no better than 9. We’ve made bottom end trades for depth and potential on the OL the last two weeks. The coaches probably think we have 7. That said, the roster changes for me.
OL 8
TE 4
WR 7
QB 2
RB 4
25
DL 7
LB 7
DB 10
24
K 1
P 1
LS 1
3
What is that last position?
Think it will be on Offense.
2 more weeks and everything that was talked about this offseason gets etch-a-sketched.
I think Doaks will make the roster. He’s the Malcolm Brown type runner, we have duplication already with Gaskin/Ahmed, why not have the same with Brown/Doaks? If either goes down you have their replacement ready to go in
I’m also taking Merritt over Williams, solely on merit. 🙂
You know who is not making the roster: Watson
buzz killer
i think so too, Houston is bluffing, seeing if there is anyone out there dumb as hell to take watson off their hands , for a kings ransom
i dont think the Dolphins are interested
the stock market keeps breaking all time records, not surprising by itself, but considering covid, afghanistan, inflation, and the hurricane, its incredible
the economy is so strong, that events that normally cock block the market have no effect
at TE, i would keep Myarick over Shaheen or Long, hopefully Myarick showed enough to earn a roster spot
i havent given up on Hunter Long yet, but im also not sure he showed enough to keep his job
Blokes (or folks) for Doaks!
JAG
JAG for Doaks doesn’t even rhyme!
I don’t want him signing with Jacksonville!
Thanks for taking into consideration my suggestion, and solely because of that I am all for Doaks.
Regardless of who was playing, it was a very entertaining 4th qtr. Still cheering for the ‘laundry’ 🙂
I think our offense will have the occasional deep ball but I expect a lot of what we saw yesterday in that the passing game will lean on passes under 10 yards …
… put the ball in playmakers hands and let them make plays.
Waddle is perfect for that approach. For bubble WRs I think it gives advantage to speed over size.
To throw a lot of quick/short passes you need to have a deep game too or at least a fear of it
We have enough speed, that the threat of a deep game is there
Throw short to move the ball, throw deep to keep them honest
On D Flores says fuck it, if you beat us deep so be it, but not going to let you dink and dunk all game, just so you don’t beat us deep once
I think Doaks earned a roster spot yesterday
Tua had more wins on a team with a shitty OL and no
RB’s or WR than Watson did last year!
But don’t let facts get in your way??????? 🙂
i think Matt Breida was better than all running backs not named Gaskins
unfortunately, Breida will play a prominent role for the Bills this year
I’ll be quite honest I’ve never liked Watson, and think he’s an arrogant prick!
I think Tua and Watson have very similar skill sets and are very similar athletic ability. The difference is that Watson has already developed while is still developing and of course Tua is not under investigation for rape
Watson is much harder to bring down, he’s closer to a power scrambler like Allen and Herbert or even big Ben back in the day, guys that can extend plays forever
Watson is between Lamar and Allen/Herbert leans more towards speed, than the great arm
Tua is more unique, but like a Russell Wilson type, not quite the scrambling ability, but more accurate, both have the quick move scramble or finese and not the power
Going from 80 to 70, like Flores will do today, usually consists of guys not likely to make any NFL team, so an easy cut

The structure of the defense isn’t just a 4-3 where you’re always an end or LB etc. Flores says Jaelan Phillips can do a lot of things and the goal was to see him in multiple roles. Checking to see where he’s comfortable, things of that nature

Flores on contributions guys who could be cut: We’ve had a very competitive group. A lot of the guys we have to move on from made our team better because they pushed some of the guys that we’re going to keep. We will have to move on from guys who are players in this league.

“There’s always rumors, speculation, some form of distraction. As a team we have to block that stuff out and play. I thought they did that yesterday.”
The ax-man cometh today!!!!!!!
Yet he won’t dispel the Watson rumors, so what he really means is, unless the guy is a really good player
What he said is he won’t talk about which is the same line he used for 3 years when discussing trade rumors. He essentially pulled a Bellicheck
I get that Ken, and not what I was talking about
He said they are looking for high character, but won’t dispel Watson rumors
How does Watson fit in with high character? Cause it sounds like a line of bs
I think that was dispelling the rumor in his own way
Don’t think he dispelled it, just said we don’t talk about internal stuff
Tried to stay out of the Watson drama … but want to add that a QB on rookie contract allows the team to build out the rest of the roster to get to championship caliber BEFORE that rookie contract runs out.
Trading all those picks for a QB with a high salary completely undermines the approach of the Grier/Flores rebuild.
Tua’s job is to get the ball in the hands of play makers. Personally, I have no doubt that he’ll do that. We just need to stop the hand wringing whenever there is an INT or sack. That happens to all of them. I think we saw some big time improvement in Tua’s overall game this year to be confident in sticking to the plan.
Thank you! Completely agree.
who? was he on the team? LOL
is tomorrow the deadline to get to 53?
Yes
👍
Don’t get the love for Myarick, sure he had one great concentration catch to win the game, but what else has he done?
Thought he was about the only one on O that looked bad against Atlanta
On Sinnett
Think he has an NFL arm, good pocket pressence, looks the part
Not sure about accuracy or intangibles, but he sure seemed to have improved from the Bears game
Think he’s a little too raw to Be a #2 QB, but if we can develop him this year, he’ll be in line for the job next year
Concur
I guess there’s a real shot he is put on PS and remains on PS
But it’s hard to imagine he’s not poached by anyone
The guy looks to be exactly what you want out of a backup
So, let’s say he goes on the PS now
Maybe he’s there through sept, but by October some one’s starter goes down, they promote their backup, and then they sign Sinnet off our PS to be their backup
Bc there is nothing stopping a team fro signing guys off PS and no deadline to sign guys off the PS
So they only way to keep him, if they like him that much, is to make him part of the final 53 – and if we do that, I assume it means we keep 3 QBs
Yep — I could easily see a rebuilding team poaching Sinnett and rostering him as a 3rd QB even if they were with every word in Steve’s analysis of him. Simply for the potential of being their back-up down the road. Think could be a long-term reliable #2 in this league, and that has a value.
We just saw him play a watered down version of an NFL game, we really don’t know how he handles his reads and things schemed against him
He wasn’t good against the Bears under pressure, did the light come on against Cincinnati?

As for Waddle, he’s going to be a huge part of this offense. I expect him to touch the ball 15 times a game, in a variety of enticing ways.
Hope that comes to fruition, but don’t see it, unless he runs it 5 times a game and has 5 punt returns a game
I am okay with that too. I want him to return punts
I look at the Watson stuff a couple of different ways. I’ve said many times I don’t think it’ll end up happening, just like most here. We all know the reasons why it doesn’t make a lot of sense.
But I think there are way too many people with their ears in NFL circles that are saying there is something there. So the question I am asking myself isn’t whether or not I think we will actually make that trade, rather I’m asking myself is there truth to the rumor that we are interested in making it?
I think the persistent rumor, and the fact we’re hearing it from multiple sources, including a Phins beat writer and a source that referenced a couple of NFL GMs, and the fact Flores wouldn’t shut it down, lends credence to the idea that we are at least interested in adding him even though to most of us it doesn’t make any sense.
So back to the question. What is our actual level of interest? Is it merely we haven’t taken ourselves out of the running, so by default we’re still ‘involved’ in trade talks? Are we legitimately interested at the right price? As Steve said, how does this jive with our wanting high character, team guys, etc?
I think when it’s all said and done, we don’t acquire Watson and this story will eventually dry up. But us still being linked to him and our HC not shooting it down does make me wonder, and frankly it kind of bugs me that our FO won’t cut that connection. He’s not accused of unpaid parking tickets. Why do we have any interest in this guy?
I think the one thing that gives it some level of credibility is that the Dolphins won’t shut down the rumors
Frankly, I really disappointed that they won’t shut it down too – you are right it’s not unpaid parking tickets. It’s 22 civil lawsuits but 22 different women, some of which allege rape
It should be noted that he hasn’t been charged with any crime in criminal court but the Houston PD only recently (July 2021) said the investigations were ongoing and even the FB I took time to interview him.
So, I think people in the media calling it “legal problems” as the last line in an article dramatically underestimates how bad this can be for him.
Legal stuff can turn out very bad or it can not (other than settlement money paid). It is the great unknown with him.
Pretty clear to me we are at least the girl in college who always flirted with you but that was it no matter how hard you tried to close the deal. And why are we interested?…..Watson is at top 5-6 Q and is 26. He’s got the legal stuff, but one scenario is that it goes away pretty quick.
It’s not going away quickly
Two of the women who have civil claims against him filed complaints with the police and there is an active investigation with the PD
The civil law suits can be settled at any time. The police and NFL can announce an end to their investigations at any time. One scenario is all happen this week, even if not counting on it.
Too bad about Tino Ellis. I guess I shouldn’t have bought his jersey…
Confession: I bought one already…
🤪
You already picked up a jersey? LOL, when are you going to tell us who it is?
It was Tino Ellis….lol
Oh, gotcha. Crisis averted, lol
The blog talking about performing the ritual sacrifice to counter Piggy’s jersey purchase…
I take it Cowherd is a go to for you. Sorta with him in that know Tua is good but don’t know if he can be great. Just going into his second season though.
Confirmation Tua is the guy. Whatever Cowturd says believe the opposite
Those guys love Watson for sure. Hard to miss the Dolphins are “an instant Super Bowl contender” in that one. Gotta love all the praise for Tua though as well. He’s just unproven as to that elite level.
Flores won’t put an end to rumors, because that’s not how he works
You get as little info as possible from him by design
Think any player in the league is a possible acquisition and any Fin is a possible trade for right price
I think they team is setting the tone that they don’t talk about rumors or business with people outside of the organization
…so if someone says they have info on a rumor, full of shit
Could be
It’s either the team doesn’t want to ever comment on rumors or they are actually entertaining the trade
As he talks about the players having to block out distractions that our own team is creating either actively or by omission.
Yeah — 32 teams out there and we are the main one tagged to Watson. What did the other 31 do?
Who cares what the other 31 did
I do steve cause they are not the ones in the headlines tied to Watson right now. Was replying to Cav’s “that our own team is creating either actively or by omission.”
FYI, he was in close contact with some one who tested positive
I don’t think it means he tested positive
I still think Chase will be special
But this preseason for him has been a nightmare
If he isn’t picked up by another team, I could see him going to the PS.
I can see a scenario where he made the 53, but still would’ve been a surprise
So up to 16 PS positions again this year, including 6 spots for players with no restrictions on experience accrued.
I’m sorta of guessing that anyone we release today we don’t want on the P-squad. Gives them an extra 24 hours to contact teams before they finalize their moves. So more of a courtesy.

Can’t state it any more clearly: My Watson reporting is from high-level sourcing in 5 teams: #Dolphins, #Texans, #Broncos, #Eagles, #Panthers and inside Watson’s camp. I challenge the Dolphins to state on the record that they haven’t spoken to Houston about a Watson deal in camp.
Doesn’t mean shit, first of all why would the Fins respond to that garbage?
Fins to Houston, because we know they like trading with them, what are you asking for in comp for Watson?
Houston: 3 1s + 2 2s
Grier: that’s kind of steep, would you consider a signed masseurs towel
Yep, Grier wants Watson bad
Doesn’t mean anything as far as a deal getting done, but this guy is most strongly insisting that their have been talks.
And my guess is no deal will get done. Texans were asking for too much to start with and it is in their rational best interest to trade Watson after his legal and league situations are resolved. Unless they know for sure he’s gonna be out of the game for a while that is.

A Deshaun Watson trade remains quite tricky and complicated … Reality is not much has changed and only one team is really feeling the heat – the Texans
Texans aren’t feeling the heat, they could trade him, if they wanted to
They’re singing, I got some ice cream and you don’t got some
Texans are feeling the heat. Texans are eating a huge contract for a guy that won’t play for them for multiple reasons
Bet you Watson is eligible to play at least 12 games this year. If he’s on the roster don’t you pretty much have to play him?
I cannot fathom Stanger why you are so confident about Watson playing again it at all
There is a serious threat he never plays another nfl game in his life
He’ll be on the commissioner’s exempt list before the season starts, so they’ll have to pay him 10m for this year, not the 30m+
Agree with Pig mostly, just don’t see him getting the Ray Rice treatment, unless he’s convicted by the feds
Anyone find it strange we haven’t seen a video yet?
Unless they can’t show the evidence before trial
Find it hard to believe out of all those massages, no one has surveillance
Watson has said he won’t play for the Texans and there is no time line as to when the investigations on the state, federal and league level. I think it is very probable Watson does not play this year for anyone
Pig cause agree that his legal and NFL situation is going to take a while to unravel. And yes he might be banned for life after it does. Even if think a year or two out of the game more likely.
Way to celebrate signing a new 100 million dollar contract
I know this guy, that knows this guy in a high place, who told 2 friends, who told 2 friends, one of which was me that Grier and Houston have spoken about…
Steve
My understanding is most of the massages took place in Watsons home
In fact on at least a few of them, Watson flew the women to Houston and brought them to his home
So if there was video of those incidents, it would have to be Watsons video
There’s unquestionably a paper trail (or internet trail) of him contacting women on Instagram. But I can think of a good reason that that won’t be released by the Houston PD – it’s still an active investigation, so the police don’t generally release evidence of an active investigating
As I recall the Ray Rice video came out like a year after the incident – not sure if that’s right but it was a while wasn’t it? That is part of the controversy, the nfl saw that video and didn’t punish him very harshly, but then the public saw the video much later and were upset (generally) about the light punishment for something that crazy
Often times it takes me close to 2 years to get video and documents from the police when there is an active investigation
I also suspect there is no video for the reason Piggy cited
Yeah that is what I thought
I also don’t assume video or docs will ever be released
But they also have a right to discovery in the civil
Suits so you can see if coming out in connection with the civil suits too
Well, if most of the massages took place in his home, then for sure theres video😉
Only know of the one where he went to the massage parlor, the lady spoke about it and said, he contacted her again later, once she said, she’s given him a massage before he didn’t make an appointment
He was apparently flying the “massage therapists” from Atlanta to Houston which would make it a Federal crime
I noticed this about the hurricane recently, its was like trying to pick up a 7-10 and they hooked too early to get Wyoming and too late to get me, and fed that throw right down the middle. My pin wobbled a little but didn’t fall. That was a nasty, very good one to miss all of us.
Louisiana, especially down in tha swamp, not so lucky. I saw some pictured of it ripping off the roof of a hospital that use to have our PACS system. They changed vendors maybe a couple years ago when they were bought out by a bigger hospital chain but i still have contacts down there. It was ripping that roof off like it was spreading confetti in front of a high velocity fan.
Texans are prepared to have Deshaun Watson on the 53-man roster and inactive every week, according to multiple league sources. Watson, who has issued a standing trade request with no deal imminent, would be paid his $10.54 million salary
He is in a no lose spot right now unless there comes out something that they can get him on conduct policy. Miami is super stupid to trade for him and i dont see this FO doing it. They also have no reason to show their hand on it, because they can sit back and let some other team fuck themselves doing that deal.
That is from Aaron Wilson
That guy is pretty solid but just not quite dynamic enough to be anything but depth. We probably put him back on the PS where we had him last year
Mando’s first article with Outkick, publicly sharing for the 1st time he had a heart attack last year. Probably motivated his change of employment, among other things.
https://www.outkick.com/passion-for-life-and-urgency-about-nfl-season-all-it-takes-is-a-near-death-experience/
I mean that will do it. Sad to hear.
unfortunately we have a few guys here that had their brushes with it as well. I bet they can attest to the changes that happen after.
Speaking of that i hope you all have fully recovered and have had not incidents of concern recently.
He talks about it in as positive a light as that experience can be, and he invokes his faith as a driving force. Reading his story, he’s damned lucky to be alive.
LOL speaking of brushes with death. I was watching this video of a CNN reporter reporting in New Orleans after the storm and she was moving around int he shot and she says “I’m just going to duck under these powerlines, i am assuming they have been shut off, but I’m going to duck them just to be sure.” and i was like wtf no you don’t go near the fucking things, that ground could be electrified for fucks sake idiot. I think she wants to have Rock’s brush with death.
LOL, that’s nuts
Watson isnt going anywhere until the NFL completes its investigation. teams interested in watson have conditioning the draft picks until the NFL makes the call
but houston doesnt want conditions
this proves houston wants to put all the risk on someone else, bastards, but nobody is falling for their ruse
the texans are prepared to put watson on the 53, but inactive, and try to trade him after the NFL investigation is completed
have= have been

I imagine for most it introduces more concern, but also appreciation for it and a desire to live it a little better or more adventurously. I think it would be more sad if it didn’t change things and hopefully the person is open to looking for the silver lining. Not that im looking for that enlightenment but people with positive mindsets about things would grow from that experience.
ill pass on 40,000 volts of enlightenment, lol
thats not really what the term means IMO
i mean me too, but this was in reference to the thing said about Mando. The other thing about the CNN reporter, thats just a Darwin award waiting to happen.
that isnt the only reporter, there was another one, he was 67, AL Roker, and he got knocked down by a big wave and could have easily drowned, but hes ok
he could have reported on the storm from a dry and secure place, lol the storm drama queens are risking their lives IMO
there is way too much darwinism going on
there was a conservative radio disc jockey in FL, he was called Mr anti-vax, and he was always saying dont take it, dont wear masks, etc
but yesterday he died from covid, this is a viral infection that is airborne and doesnt care about radio shows and money
everyone that flounts the virus, has chosen to be a top target to get it, darwinism 2021
There are two stances on this thing, personal and political, and some of the people (on either sides) are letting themselves take risks in their personal lives over these political beliefs. There are plenty of people making the personal decision to get or not get it but its a personal reason, but they aren’t the ballyhoos who are out there screaming it from the mountain, they seem to be the ones just doing their thing because its their right to. I dont have a problem with any of them and a lot of problems with the ones making it a show on either side of this as a political argument. I mean seriously, you do you, and let everyone else do the same, there needs to be no shaming of anyone for their personal decision.
i agree with You, i wish this guy would have had a show that promoted health, i am sad for him and his family, but he flaunted fate and it caught up with him
i dont agree with making health and safety decisions political, i think they should be based on medical and personal safety and well being
he could have kept himself and his family safe, AND had a talk show at the same time IMO, i think that would have been better
HMM yep not gonna do it!
Same here, lol
dion Jordan ? lol OMG
this should be a typically interesting jests season, lol
“The question isn’t whether the Dolphins want Watson. They do, for the right price. The Texans want to unload Watson, for the right price. For now, the two circles on the Venn diagram remain separated. Soon, they’ll either move toward each other or they won’t.”
— Mike Florio who man did he talk about why he has been talking about this a lot today.
They can report all the bs they want, but that doesn’t mean anything is imminent based on Fins not saying they don’t want him
Everyone is trying to put their spin on it, just in case a trade is made…see I told you so
Completely agree except I saw that article as a long take on why he put out that one article that exploded all over the internet. But it for sure was a big old scaling it back as well.
the Dolphins may have asked about Watson, since they saw he was in the discount bin
but the Dolphins cant give away the picks that Houston wants, Houston is being unreasonable , and wants some other team to inherit their problem
no thanks !
thats too bad for Him, but its a numbers game now, and the numbers are 53 by tuesday
he was a UDFA from Alabama
Beer
wow, he was expected to be a starter awhile back, guess he wont be starting now
Oh shit

I don’t know what else to do when that happens
Carl Tucker ran a 4.90 on his pro day. which contributed to him not getting drafted
