    MF13,
I’m kinda surprised at your level of disappointment and impatience with these young guys. You’ve said for years around here that it takes 3 years or so for an OL to develop…
    ———–
I’ve said for years around here that it takes perhaps 3 years or so for a single O-Lineman to MASTER their position. With the way we’re cross-training the pups, nobody will be able to master their position… much less gel as a unit.

A single group of O-Linemen (granted they know their one position) should be able to gel as a unit within 4-5 games… not 3 years or so as you attributed to me as saying.

    See the difference?

This O-Line is in total disarray, as it has been for YEARS.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Jackson has played only LT. Deiter has played only C along with Hunt at RG all year. Kindley was at LG all year but was benched. You’re making too much out of cross-training.

      • sorry Tim, this OL sucks

and Flores has to take some heat for it, he is the one that changes OC coordinators almost as often as the tide turns, changing around OL in the middle of the season out of desperation, and ultimately squandering Austin Jacksons debut, when we could have addressed the OL much better than we did

yea, we all hope they do good someday, but remember when Brissett couldnt convert a fourth and inches play? hes a big strong guy, that should be able to rush for 6 inches on that play
that was telling IMO< along with the other OL breakdowns during the first 3 games of the year

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

What does that have to do with what I said? I was talking about M13’s cross-training comments which aren’t accurate. I never said this OL is good, in fact I’ve been saying they’re bad all year. I also said Flores and his staff have to take part of the blame too. If many of these guys don’t pan out it’s on Grier too. I hope that clears up I how I feel.

  2. Capt. Stubbs's avatar Capt. Stubbs says:

I think they will get better if you let each one know their role and let them gel. Hence we seem to get better as the season goes along. Cross training should somewhat be over.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Other than moving Eichenberg around out of necessity, and that’s what Jesse Davis is, a versatile OL who can play different spots in a pinch, the rest have all been playing one position.

      • Capt. Stubbs's avatar Capt. Stubbs says:

I agree, just feeling your best spot should be focused on more.. not sure it is. I get cross training. Don’t want your kicker to be the qb if he gets hurt

  3. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

David, we’re a very young team with a lot of guys developing at the same time. We’re not adding rookies here and there to some veteran lineup that has a proven body of work. We’re playing lots of young players simultaneously and that takes time. That’s where this team is at.

    • i cant argue that, all i would like to see is more impact plays from our first round picks, like other teams are doing

Flores couldnt even protect his starting QB, yet most other teams managed to do so , and still have their starting QB

  4. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MF13,
I get ya. Our OLs have been crap for a long time. But, I guess I don’t put that on these second and third year players we have right now. Sure, as fans, decades of frustration with our OL warrants disappointment…but it doesn’t have anything to do with these players. Gelling as a unit takes way longer than a handful of games. It takes months…cross training or not.
    ***
Cross training is just a part of the NFL now. I’m not a huge fan of it either, but I get it. And, when all is said and done, I think a good player can work through that and still be a good player. It should theoretically make you better because you have a better understanding of what other positions do and how to gel with them. I think the cross training and evaluation of best fits is pretty much done for the top 4 guys. Jackson. Kindley. Deiter. Hunt. They are still taking a look at Eich, and they should.

    • Capt. Stubbs's avatar Capt. Stubbs says:

I’ve taken your approach on this O line now!! LOL I kind of have the cliff notes above.

Randy you should write a quick write up every Wednesday on the O-line. We could call it ROW “Randy’s O-line Wednesdays ” I’m saying this because I like your breakdowns. It would also help our infamous Mike e. lol

  5. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

“The exploration of love, trauma, and abuse between Cnaiür and the Anasûrimbors is equal parts disturbing and fascinating.”

    New Age,
That is an excellent way to sum up that relationship and its arc in one sentence, lol. It really is interesting to watch it unfold.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

It is. Every time I think Kellhus will remove Cnaiur, especially that time he was planning on doing it, I can see the turmoil of indecision. As powerful as Kellhus is, watching his doubts, indecisions, and even regrets play out is really good writing. Bakker definitely goes deep.

I was thinking earlier about your statement on writers and it made me laugh. As a Dolphins fan, I’m always complaining about something. As a fantasy fan, I’m always looking for the next great epic but many times…many, many times, I just go to the easy read because I don’t want to dig that deep. I will never be satisfied no matter how much I complain lol. People are funny and I’m definitely a case study in inconsistency. Back to Conan comics I go lol.

  6. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

In past years many fans said we don’t play our rookies enough. Now that we play a boatload of them we don’t like what that looks like. Many players on this team have never played with each other. When you blow it up and build heavy through the draft like we’ve done and everyone always says we should do it that way, you have to go through the growing pains. No way around that.

  7. Capt. Stubbs's avatar Capt. Stubbs says:

Sounds like what the miami dolphins have done to me. “Love, trauma and abuse ” 😫

  9. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

    ??????????????

  10. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Coaches trying to find the best players they have to work with is their main job. If some players aren’t getting it done, should they just keep playing them or look for ways to win the game? Players have to earn their keep. We’ve got some glaring areas of concern for sure, but we’ve seen some good stuff too. We’re 1-2, not 1-7.

  11. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

Hey Mike E, Tim, and Piggy?

Did ya’ll fire 72,000 health care workers last night?????

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      • Capt. Stubbs's avatar Capt. Stubbs says:

Fired!!! Tim please gather your belongings lol

      • Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

        No, not yet anyway
But if/when it happens it will be a much smaller number

FYI Tim and Mike are in NJ not NY so not doesn’t really pertain to them

The 72k number represents 16% of a workforce of 450,000 in the state of NY. It’s kind of a guess but it’s an informed guess. But it’s not like they know 72k if the workforce will break the mandate

        Many have religious exceptions
And many rushed to get vaccinated – the order is like a month old and last night was the deadline

So it’s probably going to be much less than 72k when it’s acted upon

I’m not sure it’s firing, it might be a suspension

But it will take them time to implement firings or suspensions of it happens. It’s just a deadline to get vaccinated – that’s shouldn’t be perceived as a deadline for the state to act

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Wow!!!! The strong arm of the government doing what they do. Not surprised it’s NY.

  12. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

  13. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’m not getting these tweets from players either. Maybe I’m too stoned. LOL

  14. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Tim,

Good points on the new players. It’s difficult to wait but at least we didn’t lay an egg last week. We should beat the Colts. I’d like to see some offensive improvement in the win and think it will happen. Strongly hope it will happen.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah man, this roster has been churning since 2019. Now it’s time to develop the boatload of players we drafted and mold them along with some of the proven vets. We have 21 new players on this 53 man roster this year along with a lot of other young players in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even 4th seasons. This team is being created, it has no structure of success that we’re building onto. It is what it is and we’re all going for the ride. 🙂

  15. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

So that answers a lot of questions

    Godsey is calling the plays

  16. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

David – Rousseau has only 2 sacks this season, both against us. Don’t be so impressed.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Phillips missed a lot of reps in the offseason and is just getting up to speed playing OLB which is somewhat new for him. I liked what I saw from him in the Raiders game. He looked like he’s starting to get it – set the edge nice on a few plays and had 6 tackles. If Ogbah didn’t get the sack it’s likely Phillips would have. That was the most impressive pass rush we’ve had from both edge rushers collapsing the pocket and I expect to see more of that. Van Ginkel has been solid.

      • Capt. Stubbs's avatar Capt. Stubbs says:

I liked seeing Philips out there. Like you said he is learning. Love the effort you mentioned 6 tackles, I think 3 of them were because they went right by him, however his never give up on play was awesome!

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He made a tackle where he set the edge but the play was not on the edge it was inside. but he trailed the play and was in on the tackle chasing from behind. That’s good football. That’s what you want to see. Opponents are going to make plays too. Sometimes I feel like fans think we have to shut down every play. LOL

  17. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

NY sucks!!! I can’t believe what government has done there the last 8 years. Destroying one of the best cities in the USA 🇺🇸. Hey, you get what you vote for!! 🤡

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I was in New York this past Saturday evening. We had tickets to see Jim Gaffigan at Radio City Music Hall for the 8pm show. We figured we would go out for a drink and bite to eat after. At 10 pm on a Saturday night there was nothing open. It was like a ghost town

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

If you go downtown, or to the UES or UWS where people live it’s fine

Midtown East, Times Square and that area of Radio City Music Hall are really not residential areas

My neighborhood in Queens is pretty active

A week ago I wa win Long Island with a bunch of friends and we were complaining about traffic being back and no one being prepared for it – it was really congested

And that’s the thing, the dynamic of the workforce has changed. People just are going to work 5 days a week now.

So those areas where people congregated like the midtown’s of the world aren’t drawing people

Foot traffic has taken a real hit

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

NY Democrats are some of the most arrogant people I’ve seen in politics. And Bloomberg was not a Republican. He ran for the party with the best chance to win just like Trump.

  20. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I might get killed for this

But you can see how that end zone throw that led to the safety could have worked for a big play …

    With perfect execution

    (Piggy ducks)

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Too much bad can happen there though and it did. The play was too slow and backwards. But I do know what you’re saying. If Waddle makes the first guy miss it could have gone for 20 or so.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

        Big risks on that call

        Too much for me

But when you get the chance go look at the receiver (a rb) on the other side and the TE who is wide open

There were plays to be hand

And of course making waddle jump slowed down the develeoent

  21. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

  22. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

    Piggy I didn’t say I didn’t like NY.
Just asked for an update on the news if you had any.

Although it’s a good assumption that I’m not a fan of any “city”!

  23. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Piggy:
I love NY but I miss the way it was. When made NY great is midtown. It’s not the same right now. It is still great and I do believe once we really get out from this pandemic it will come back to much of the way it was

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s not just the pandemic but civil unrest and politicians allowing disorder to happen. For me this isn’t political as much as it is current events and what’s actually happening.

But I do agree NYC will rebound in some way, it always does.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I certainly didn’t experience any civil unrest when I was in NY. Well there was the guy at gas station trying to sell my wife and I drugs but he was polite about it

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

You never saw the boarded up store fronts after riots? I know a lot of people who live and work in NYC and the BLM/Defund the Police crowds fucked it all up. People who didn’t want to own firearms were buying firearms? How could you not have seen this?

I really don’t want to keep going on with this, but this baffles me. It’s as if it never happened. What?

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

They were certainly not there now. It was actually very peaceful. Boringly peaceful

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

        But you said ghost town.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Comparatively speaking in that things were closed early. Not because there was unrest. It was really quite safe while we were there

  24. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Piggy, that pass in the end zone we’ve seen Tom Brady make hundreds of time whether to Edleman, Welker, White or whoever. But he would get the snap turn and fire it in front of the receiver with the CB on the 5 yard line so the receiver could catch it and get going for at least 3 or 4 yards. Brissett threw it like an ally oop pass and by the time Waddle adjusted to it the CB was already in the end zone to wrap him up. Poorly executed.

  25. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Piggy – how is NYC ever going to get past the pandemic. Most every city in the world is opening up and NY laws are segregating people by vaccinated and non vaccinated. That’s the wrong direction pal. Also axing 72,000 Healthcare workers because they aren’t vaccinated is also the wrong direction. You reap what you sow.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

The cast majority of Nyers are vaccinated. A small % of people in the city are not. I don’t think that’s an issue for nyc. I think foot traffic from a workforce that now understands how to work from home is a huge issue

  26. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Ken, the unrest is over, not the result of it. NYC is the city that never sleeps. But they’re done by 10PM?

Biden is in office now, there is no more unrest. Everything is peachy keen. The Democrats still control the city and on the national level the Dems control the presidency, senate and house. The perfect storm. I’m looking forward to utopia too. 😉

  27. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Cardinals clinch the 2nd WC and our win streak reaches 17, the longest streak in the NL since 1938.

We really are playing near perfect baseball. Our defense is the best in the majors and it’s on display every night. We have 3 guys with 30+ HRs, and we also play excellent smallball, tacking on extra runs inning after inning in game after game with a combination of speed and consistently doing the little things like moving runners and plating runs on sacrifices.

A few nights ago we scored a run from 2nd base on a sacrifice fly without an error.

The Giants/ Dodgers fight for the division is a pretty crucial one. With the topnotch season they’ve both had, neither of these teams wants to have their WS hopes hinge on a one game playoff against us.

I am still nervous about getting out of that WC game though. The one thing this Cards team doesn’t have is that clutch dominant pitcher. We’ve had very solid pitching during this streak, but if we get into a 2-1 game, I’m not sure we have that one starting pitcher we can count on to keep a strong lineup like the Dodgers from scoring runs. I think it’ll have to be our offense that carries the day if we want to advance.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Just in time to start losing. LOL

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

When I was a kid, I liked the Cardinals uniforms and I thought Ozzie doing backflips at the start of some games was the coolest thing ever. Been a Cardinals fan ever since.

I have kinda goofy reasons for all my favorite teams. I’m a Dolphins fan because my dad was a Niners fan, and the first football game I took any interest in was the Super Bowl against the Niners. I became a Dolphins fan to spite my dad, lol.

  28. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

    Thanks M

I have been weaning myself back in slowly. Lol

  29. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

before the safety i called a qb sneak figuring that’s what they would do, from the 6 inch line you work out of a spread & run the qb sneak, get a couple of yards then give it to a RB on 2nd down up the middle.if you have created enough room for your punter you try to pick up the 1st on 3rd down, if not you run it again to achieve room for your punter.
situational football, backed up like that you go with the percentages, the safety was the difference in the game, clearly a coaching mistake.

  30. Mike, i read somewhere that Rousseau had 3 sacks, but double checked and saw he only has 2.

and yes, they both came against the Dolphins, but that is 2 more than the Dolphins first round pick Phillips

I knew Rousseau would be an impact player , right out of the gate, and was hoping the FIns would draft him, but im still hoping Phillips becomes one also

unfortunately, im having doubts as to how good our development of players is right now

  31. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Piggy – Right next to door to NYC is Hoboken, and Hoboken is ALIVE!!! It’s thriving, and I was a little nervous that the Dem goon in NJ, Murphy would follow NYC as he has numerous times, but it’s a damn good thing he hasn’t! Asbury Park, Belmar, all thriving now that COVID restrictions are gone. NYC is fucked, they’re taking a political stance by banning non-vaccinated people from dining and absurdly firing over 70,000 health care workers, many of whom helped them get through the pandemic in the first place. Shameful!!

    • i already read Piggys comments, which im sure is closer to reality,

im not quick to jump onto anger or fear comments about covid, just logical ones

but the story reveals that some people are irresponsible and get others sick, thats shameful and is prolonging the epidemic!

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Closer to reality? WTF do you know??? My son LIVES in Hoboken, and it’s FACT! I’ve been there a bunch of times, and I’ve also been to Asbury Park, which is also doing really well. This is not opinion, it’s the way it is. Oh, and once again, anyone who has 1, 2 or even 3 shots can still get COVID and still spread COVID so irresponsible doesn’t really fit here. Some of the 72K health care workers helped get NY through the worst and now they’re out on their ass because they don’t want to get the vaccine. Would you think maybe someone who has been through what they have might have a better perspective and understanding of the vaccine than you do? NYC is a ghost town because of Mayor Bill de Blasio and because of former Governor Andrew Cuomo.

  32. there shouldnt be a political stance on personal health, and spreading diseases to others IMO

its more of a moral responsibility to keep our families and coworkers safe, and not spread the disease by intent, or ignorance

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

People who are vax’ed are also spreaders. It’s been said/proven time and again. Vax only helps your body fight it better. It’s science not ignorance. One of my scalloping buddies got COVID and gave it to his wife. Both were vax’ed. She was sick about 3 days he was sicker. He actually was in hospital 3 days cause for some reason he went into a-fib. They got his heart beating right and a week later he was better but then his son got it who was also vax’ed. He is just now getting over it.

It’s just a shame (a crime) what they are doing to these healthcare workers. A year ago these same people were praised as American Hero’s by the media, celebrities, politicians and the entire nation. Now the unvax’ed healthcare workers are being blackballed (cancelled) by the same people who called them hero’s less than a year ago.

The majority of them battled COVID and then went right back to work when cleared working ridiculous hours. They have natural immunity where many have higher immunity than those who are vax’ed. Yet, they are sent to pasture.

BUT, let’s let well over a million (and counting) illegal aliens into the country and give them A CHOICE to get vax’ed or not (the huge majority refuse vax) and spread them around the country.

BTW, there is another waive of 15,000+ headed to the boarder and, NOW, they are going to fire Border Agents in October if they are not vax’ed. However, still give the illegals crossing a choice to get vax’ed or not.

Some stupid fucked up shit going on.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

It’s not a shame, short of somenone with a legit religious exemption or immune compromised, it’s a small percentage of workers who are just stubborn

They are basically engaging in malpractice by not getting vax Ed and dealing with elderly and sick people all day

It’s no more a shame than it is when a doctor gets sued for leaving his surgery tools in some ones stomach after surgery

Healthcare workers who are in acces are just up picking up a paycheck and don’t actually care about the health of the people around them

And please for the love of god – stop making everything a Segway to how upset you are about the border. American rejected Trump border policies. Deal with it.

      • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

And this is why everything is so fucked up right now. Floyd is a thing of the past and they want to use vax to divide the country now. It’s working.

How is it “malpractice” when someone who has had COVID has just as good antibodies or better than one who is vax’ed.

A vax’ed healthcare worker can transmit COVID to their patients just as easily as an unvax’ed healthcare worker. I guess that’s malpractice as well. There’s no logic in that. Maybe soon, we start seeing people file law suits against someone they got COVID from who is unvax’ed. SMH

“When the 2021 NFL schedule came out in May, the Raiders were dealt a brutal opening slate with their first three games coming against the Ravens, Steelers and Dolphins. On paper, that part of the schedule seemed like a nightmare with all three of those teams winning 10 or more games last year (The Ravens went 11-5, the Steelers went 12-4 and the Dolphins finished 10-6).

Despite the long odds — the Raiders were only favored to win in one of the three games — Las Vegas still came out on top all three times, which allowed them to make NFL history. The three wins marks the first time ever that a team has started 3-0 with each of their wins coming against a team that won 10 or more games the previous year.

Teams have opened the season with three straight wins against playoff teams from the prior year — the Rams just accomplished that feat this season — but no team had ever done what the Raiders just did.”

Getting more upset about the same thing isn’t going to win you any elections. Persuading people that you are right will – but that’s not what you do when you casually insert a topic into something unrelated

Bringing up immigration in the context of healthcare workers being vaxed or not is like a crack addict announcing that they need more crack at an insurance seminar. It’s like an addiction to the anger over the topic.

And how can you call something a narrative out of one side of your mouth while juxtaposing why you think Trump was effective on immigration out of the other side. You know they both handle immigration differently. It’s not a narrative. There are clearly differences that Americans voted on. Deal with it.

Steve we don’t have to debate who won the election – it’s settled

trump lost Arizona a half of dozen times already despite still fundraising on it

The fact that you think they are pandering to immigrants instead of pandering to me is the problem here. I’m way ahead of Democrats on immigration. I have much more agressice views on how it should be handled. Democrats aren’t even close and republicans are on the other side of the galaxy

And my vote and people like me that think like me are voted that count. I expect my politicians to pander to me – that’s what being a representative govt is about

The fact that you think it’s a strategy to gain votes from
Noncitizens shows how little you understand about immigration

Asylum claims will take years to process. When/if they are granted, an applicant doesn’t get citizenship, they get legal
residency and won’t be eligible to apply for citizenship ship for another 3 years at least

It’s not possible that people that are being let in now can legally vote by 2022. It’s more like 10 years before that happens. And those votes are just as much up fro grabs for democrats as they are republicans. Either party can pander to legal immigrants and either party should as far a sinam concerned .

Ideally a couple with 50/50 splits across race and national origin is ideal to me. But that takes catering aka pandering to issues that base wants

For instance, Haitians have voted strongly for republicans in the last election and the recent waive of asylum seekers are Haitians – but now you guys are blowing it.

You guys go to great length to not undertake that plenty of Americans disagree with you and I Never get it. I know plenty of Americans disagree with me about immigration or healthcare or the environment or the pandemic

I don’t call it a secret plot, a narrative or whatever

Steve, that would take several hours of discussion. I, unlike many, do not just blindly accept what the “party” says. Not being a member of either party I look at each issue independently. Personally I do not like the man. I think he was a poor choice for the Dems to put up. I still think the offensive philosophy for this team is to have a ball control scheme by throwing short to intermediate passes to RB/TE/Slot WRs and the occasional deep ball. Ball control used to mean running a lot, but it doesn’t anymore. Teams do it with a quick passing game. Brady did it for years. It fits Tua better than a vertical passing game. It jives with the roster moves we saw them make the last few years. Its easier on your young OL. And, I think Flores wants to replicate what he saw work in NE. Keep it a low scoring game, let your defense hunt and limit TOs. If your offense can only score 24 points, that’s okay because your defense will hold the opponent to 21.

Not bc I am eager to piss anyone off but bc I fundamentally find myself disagreeing with conservatives on nearly every topic lately

What displeases me most is the former guy constantly had me defending liberals which drove me crazy. Now because I was always forced into being the only reasonable person in the room I have been labeled a Liberal which I am not. I see Stanger, who self identifies as a conservative taking shit on here all the time and having to defend himself, people calling him a Liberal. I assume that folks think of me as a Democrat and Liberal as well. I’m not.

Being a first generation immigrant, who came to this country undocumented tends to lean my sympathies toward immigrants. So I depart from the “Conservative line” (but boy do the conservative right business owners love their cheep labor!!)

Having gay / lesbian / trans-gender family members tends to lean my sympathies that direction. But I don’t think we need to legislate stupidity either. NO the US government should NEVER pay for elective surgeries. NO to breast implants and NO to sexual reassignment surgeries.

Do we need better border security? YES! As wall that blocks off usage of the river that serves as the boarder? NO it’s stupid.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Well I made a point of saying that first line bc I want to make it clear

I have no interest in “owning conservatives” in the same
Way we heard “owning the libs” every time Trump did something that angered liberals

That’s not what I want to do personally and it’s no way to run a functional govt

But my point is that a lot of the things that conservatives here are getting angrier and angrier about (especially immigration) doesn’t really work
Up a lot of people – particularly independents, the same way it works them up

And that’s a real problem for republicans that I have no interest in sugar coating. It’s a party that has been successful
Recently by throwing red meat to its base instead of appealing to independents

It’s exactly why somenone like stranger has to defend calling himself a Republican (which is crazy)

I am also a registered independent who has in the last voted for republicans and I’m really cautious to say that seeing what stranger faces – but those of you who have followed my political posts before Trump
Know that I favored a multi-party system…but my biggest fear is that republicans continue this path and I really only have one choice at all

If we had 4 parties and one of them dug their teeth into “border crisis” every few weeks, they would be my least favorite party, I can promise you that, the fact that it’s a Republican standard now – means I can never support republicans and I didn’t always feel that way

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Rock — guess it is the new world. You are against Trump and Trumpism and that means those folks brand you a liberal. Which is really strange cause only one-third of people are really pro-Trump yet no moderates? But maybe simple labels work for them.

I’m not concerned at all with having 2 OCs. People are focusing way too much on who’s calling the plays on game day. I told you guys months ago it would be one guy…not two. But, in designing the game plan during the week for Sundays, it’s a collaborative effort. Does it really matter that they have 2 OCs working on a game plan during the week? No, because there are probably 5 different people involved in that process anyway.
    ***
My problem so far is the play calling has been kind of unfocused. This offense has to start dictating to defenses and stop reacting….regardless of how the OL performs. But hey….the guy calling plays has never done it before, I think. Again, the inexperience on this team in many phases is pretty evident.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

My argument concerning if the 2 OCs was largely about lack of focus on the offense

How do you keep statistics of people you don’t have records of?

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

There is pretty good meta data that can be used to extrapolate from so as to establish a pretty good estimate. From various government agencies including local boards of education, social welfare agencies and other non government organizations that provide services to immigrants

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

You do have records of arrests

And you have record of whether some who is arrested was indemnified as a citizen or not

It’s a pretty reliable statistic if you are taking recorded arrests, recorded convictions (which are recorded) and comparing them to estimates population as a whole

I appreciate questions stats bc so many are out out there with an agenda

And I always question them even when I like them

but the number of arrests and convictions isn’t so fluid that it can’t be recorded. Convictions are documents as are most arrests. What you are guessing on is the population and what Ken said gives you an idea of how that is derived

      • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Honestly I think it is. That is exactly what so many of our ancestors did. I know that is what mine did

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

        No

It’s has long been held not a basis for asylum

At an asylum hearing a person needs to show

“You are unable or unwilling to return to your home country because you have been persecuted there in the past or have a well-founded fear that you will be persecuted if you go back.”

“The reason you have been (or will be) persecuted is connected to one of five things: your race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or your political opinion.”

That has long been the law on asylum for decades now

There are 5 grounds of “persecution” and financial
Hardship isn’t one of them but sometimes that is flexiae and does change from Administration to administration

These questions are the questions the are settled by an asylum hearing

If some one loses, they get deported

If somenone doesn’t show up at a hearing – they default and can be deported (when they are found)

People who lose asylum hearings and remain in the country are the tie definition of an “illegal”

        People that win become residents
And can begin the path to citezenship with a few years of residency

The tough questions are really what to do with people pending an asylum claim and that’s where you see
        Enormous differences in administrations IMO

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

FYI Ken. I was posting this as you answered

It’s not – sorry to blow up your game. Lol

The standards from the time when immigration was mostly Europeans until now have changed quite a bit. in some instances they swing back and forth

      • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I’m on the fence but sympathetically feel as you. Something does need to be done about the ones who have been here a long time and established themselves as hardworking contributors to our communities.

I say this because the foreman and all his workers who did my roof are undocumented. The foreman has been here 6 years both his kids born here. They all are paid under the table cash and pay no taxes. Don’t know how the roofing company can do that. Maybe you business owners can enlighten me.

      • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Thanks for the clarification Piggy. I am still somewhat sympathetic as I have been to many of these countries they are coming from. Not as a tourist, but in the military and seen first hand how the lower half live.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

The roofing company can’t do that

And this is the source of the problem

Some one who is not a citizen can be assigned an EIN and pay taxes. In fact they even pay into social security even though they won’t get it

But if an employer pays somenone under the table – that won’t happen

Also just remember even though some one who is paid under the table doesn’t pay taxes from their Salary (bc it’s not recorded) they pay taxes on every thing they purchase – sales taxes. So even when people don’t pay taxes from
Their paycheck, a state can derive a huge amount of tax revenue from sales taxes if people Who are undocumented

So hint hint wink wink – why don’t states like Florida and Texas with no state Texas look the other way at employers who do this….eh they are making money off it too

Yes, my mother had her work permit, had my older sister and older brother here, went back to Canada on vacation while pregnant with me and I came a month early. I was delivered by my grandmother’s neighbor in the guest bedroom. Then mom came back to Florida with her new baby……
No birth certificate, no papers, just a baby. It wasn’t an issue until they tried to enter me in kindergarten and needed my “papers”. All my siblings are natural born US citizens born of Canadian parents. I’m the only problem child.

Quebec didn’t even keep birth records in ’69. The church kept birth and death records at the time.

10’s of thousands of $ later I have a green card, but NOT enough to get my citizenship.

    Ken,

Much like in our overall population, if you keep the bad ones in jail, the numbers look better for the rest. It’s much like Bill Clinton’s crime reduction push really helped lower crime. Here’s some data from other sources.

    https://thehill.com/opinion/immigration/407312-one-in-five-us-prison-inmates-is-a-criminal-alien

    https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/revealed-illegal-aliens-make-up-more-than-11-of-inmate-population/

There are a lot of bad people…including a lot of illegal immigrants. America is the Land of Opportunity for all…including a huge number of illegal immigrants. It’s just part of human nature but there are a disproportionate number according to these sources.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

I’m not trying to paint all Latinos in this light but I’m not a fan of illegal immigration. If you want more people from south of our border, adjust overall legal immigration to accomplish this. We bring in a lot of legal immigrants and I’d prefer most of them from those areas, but it should be done legally. You shouldn’t be rewarded for breaking laws every country has and enforces.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

To be clear I am not supporting illegal immigration. I believe that immigration should be done and as piggy pointed the majority of the large wave of immigrants are trying to do it legally. That doesn’t mean all should be given asylum. I also believe for those that are currently here illegally there should be a pathway to legal residency

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

I’m all for legal immigration but not a path for any here except the previously named DACA grouping and for only the ages that originally applied. You can’t just reward this or it will not stop. There must be a form of punishment as well which is deportation. No one will stop if we always do what Reagan did.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

If it’s just part of human nature than it’s an argument to treat all humans the same, which isn’t down by singling out immigrants on the topic

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Human nature in that some people will always act bad and some will do good in all groups. These immigrants are singled out for many reasons but one reason is the illegal drug trade and we can’t just ignore that. This data says there is a higher percent of criminals in this group and we can’t ignore that either. I know there are other reasons but every single nation guards their borders for a reason. Having an open border is a huge security and safety issue. We need a stable border and for these people to not be allowed in no matter their nationality, race, religion, etc. It must be done legally.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I guess they pulled me back in. The “insurrection” was totally idiotic. But it’s funny when people challenge the government like that, it’s “oh my god the horror.” When rioting and looting in the streets in cities all over the country against civilians, police and other civil servants for months, it’s “well people are angry”.

The civil war was started many years ago by constant propaganda. We’re just seeing it come to life in recent years. Been watching it unfold for too long. It’s funny when you see it happening over the years and then it implodes and everyone wants to know what’s going on?

It’s alright though, in time all this silly and stupid behavior will become a thing of the past as we continue to evolve. There will become a point when all of the dumb shit has nobody’s attention and much bigger things will become the focus. Unfortunately all of us on this blog will be dead by then. LOL

      3. The World Sucks Party – they hate life and will not procreate because the world is a horrible place.

      4. The Never Change Party – they learned what they learned and there is no room to learn anything new.

      Who wins?

Jackson has played only LT. Deiter has played only C along with Hunt at RG all year. Kindley was at LG all year but was benched. You’re making too much out of cross-training.
    ————
Tim, you’re citing game starts over three games, not how they’ve been (cross) trained since… (ahem) training camp.

I mean, you and I have seen/read pretty much the same thing since the early days of camp (cross-training), yet we come to very different conclusions: I’m baffled by that. Deiter would seem to be our only sure ‘fit’ on the O-Line at Center (and people still blame him for the lack of communication/calls), while everybody else has been shuffled around and SUCK.

I enjoy the convo, actually, and I’m not trying to win some debate… either one of us or even both of us could be wrong. But I think the question becomes: is it about the players or the coaching? I haven’t a concrete answer, but our team had better figure it out soon, man.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The entire offseason was set to be projected this way. You act like we change every position week to week. What because we look at guys at different positions in practice to see what we have in case of injuries or something else and we have to field an OL. Every NFL team does this. The coaches have basically put the same guys at the same position for months and it hasn’t looked so good.

Jackson always plays LT. Hunt has been at RG all offseason into the season. We know he can play RT if he has to because of last year. Kindley has been mainly at LG but got benched. Deiter started off much like Eichenberg as a rookie playing anywhere they needed him but he solidified the C position in the offseason and has been there ever since. Other than Davis and Eichenberg, who’s been shuffling?

They’re all young except for Davis and we have not found that solid starting 5. None of us like it. But this shuffling and cross-training you keep mentioning is not anywhere near what you’re suggesting. The simple answer is they’re not that good, at least right now.

We can’t seem to find the right fits (again, since training camp), and just last week we had to tweak the O-Line after week 2’s disastrous O-Line.

JMO, but it’s an unmitigated disaster unfolding before our eyes.

Just so we’re clear, I have absolutely ZERO problems cross-training our O-Line cats… but I think we never settled into who should play where until the season started. That’s horrible for gel-time, and as I stated, we had to tweak it again just last week.

Yes, we are young on the O-Line… but that we’ve actually REGRESSED from last season (#29th last year)? That’s embarrassing, man.

  86. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

M13, I’m disappointed in our OL too. Not sure how many more times I have to say that? The problem is it’s not about cross-training though. They’re not doing their jobs well. Players, coaches or talent evaluators, I’m not sure. Maybe all of it.

I don’t care who the QB is on this team, it won’t be easy for any of them. It seems like every other play gets blown up. Tired of watching that.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

YUP! I concur 100%. I’m just trying to figure it out, that’s all. There has to be a rhyme and reason as to why we’re regressing on the O-Line.
