I am liberal. Why is that bad? Just as why is being conservative bad?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s not! That’s why we’re all fucked in the head. People are dividing themselves more than the politicians are and they’re just fine with that.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Tim I appreciate that comment, but I feel compelled to say disagreements aren’t always bad.

It’s a big country. I don’t think the vision was ever that everyone had to agree with one another or meet isn’t he middle. We don’t need that to happen to be a strong country

It’s fine for people in this country to feel divided. It’s a representative form of govt. I’m oversimplifying but essentially the majority wins. People are going to be upset when it doesn’t go their way. That’s natural. And maybe everyone is right and wrong some of the time.

Having different visions isn’t so bad.

My biggest gripe is that it’s two parties controlling the direction. But if there were multiple powerful parties, I still think people would still disagree and that wouldn’t be so bad.

I would rather live in a country where people feel strongly about their beliefs than constantly compromising.

And it’s nothing to be ashamed of if your opinions or views aren’t the most popular ones. I disagree with a lot of people about virally everything….lol

  30. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I will say this about the status of our team. The offense is the biggest issue because they don’t make enough explosive plays. We have some nice drives here and there but sometimes even those end up in FGs or punts. Who on offense has made a big play yet? I mean a really big play. The Brown 24 yard TD run?

    • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Brissett lateral to Waddle in the endzone was a pretty big play

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Gotta disagree….the biggest issue are the mistakes. Undisciplined football…it wreaks!

      • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Jackson with way too many penalties, the offside on the punt that resulted in a 1st down … some very questionable PFs …

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Lots on offense. Every team gets penalties but some big plays here and there can overcome those. What is our biggest play on offense? Anyone break a big run or catch for a score beyond 30+ yards. Just one!

  32. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Sorry I meant one big play for a score? Take it to the house type of play. Brown’s 24 yard TD run is the only one I can think of.

    • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

      Yeah that’s about it

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

6 TDs in 4 games on offense is pathetic. You will never win in today’s NFL playing that way. Just for the record, we scored 2 TDs on offense in the first game with a win in NE with Tua. Since then, just 4 TDs in the last 3 games. I know Tua set Brissett up for failure down 7-0 against the Bills after 9 snaps in the 1st quarter before getting injured, but since then it’s still been difficult. 😉

To all the coaches, take some chances. The conservative approach is not working. Attack and go for it. If you’re not good enough you’re not good enough. At least know that. You’re not winning games 17-16 every week. In fact you’ve lost 3 in a row not doing that.

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

I agree. Go down in a blaze of glory . What you got to lose

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Nothing, you are what your record says you are. Play to win. Not just survive and that’s what I think we’re seeing. Flores has to change that mentality. The 5th game has to be go for it.

I don’t care if you’re in max protect the first few drives. Take shots to score points. Make the opponent at least think about it. Plays within 10 yards is easy to defend.

  38. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Cards put up a good fight, but Dodgers take it in the bottom of the 9th. I’m happy, we had our chances against what is probably the best roster in the league. We wouldn’t have had the horses to beat the Giants in a longer series anyway.

Kong – Cards and Yankees fought so hard to get to the post season and turns out to be just one game. That kind of stings. I would have loved for the Mets to have been in that spot, but the loss would hurt me as much as it hurt you. Too quick and end. On the other hand, it would have been kinda cool to have the anomaly of a 106 win team eliminated in a one game playoff.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Cheers, Mike. That’s two years in a row losing in the WC round, but we were heavy underdogs, so I am just glad we gave ’em a good game and made the Dodgers fans sweat it, lol. I think we’re close to having a team that can compete for the series, so I look forward to seeing what we can do next year.

Getting to the playoffs in baseball actually means something. I’ve read they are likely going to expand the number of teams that get in soon. Then it will be just like very other sport where half the league makes the playoffs. $$$$$

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Yeah, I may be emotionally overreacting, but I’ve seen enough of this group. I was skeptical about Grier from the beginning because he was one of the top scouts for a team that could not evaluate talent. He has just solidified my opinion of his abilities. I was cautiously optimistic about Flores, but his constant turn over at coordinator and coaching spots along with the slow start every year and back sliding has me more pessimistic than not. I am patiently waiting for the re-rebuild now. BLOW IT ALL UP! Pull the roots and salt the fucking fields! Crush every cockroach until there is no residue of the ineptitude that has plagued this team left.

Or at least win this Sunday and I may feel better….

      LOL

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I agree on Flores and Grier

Flores Mr turnover, needs to put a few guys in place and leave them there

Turnover every year doesn’t help start of the year strong

Seems like since he’s so green he should have vet coordinators, unless the plan is to let them grow with him

Maybe we’re too impatient, but the regression this year doesn’t help

Bull Shit, LOL….what kind of technique is going to help you when your opponent just flat out beats you?
all you have to do is beat the man in front of you, it’s more about athleticism & power or lack thereof.

the only technique you need is to stay between your guy and the qb in pass pro. and pass pro is where this OL is lacking.

  58. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Tua’s first four starts vs jones, Tua only eclipsed the 200 yard mendoza line once in four starts, Jones has only slipped below it once, the qbs job is to complete passes and gain yards. wins and losses fall on the entire team effort. of jones 3 of 4 starts he gained more yards than Tua has since he’s been playing as a pro.
it’s pretty obvious who the better qb is thru 4 games.

    TUA
    vs rams 12-22-93
    vs cards 20-28-248
    vs chargers 15-25-169

brissett had a 100 passer rating, evaded multiple sacks while scrambling, he played great considering no run game or protection.
    ————–
I can’t argue with that at all. Only thing I would say, though, is that Brissett got his stats in garbage time when it was already too little, too late.

But man, Brissett has excellent awareness in the pocket.

  61. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

  63. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Fuller is out. Brissett thrived late with Gesicki and Parker. I’m thinking time to start Preston Williams. Seems Brissett has a whole lot more Fitz than Tua in him.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Quite the opposite. Brissett is the check down king. He doesn’t like to go downfield. He is nothing like Fitz.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I’m talking mid-3rd quarter and after last game. Something was different.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

It was only late 4th quarter garbage time. His history as a starter is one who doesn’t go downfield very often. It’s just who he is

  64. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

The first 3 quarters of the Colts game, when it mattered, Brissett was 12 of 20 for 55 yds for a passer rating of 64.6.

The Colts were up 3 scores, and on the Dolphins last two drives during garbage time when the Colts defense played to kill the clock, Brisset got all those numbers that gave him a laughable 107 passer rating.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

      https://www.pro-football-reference.com/about/qb-rating.htm

I’m making the assumption this site calculates passer rating correctly if you plug in the numbers.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

he played great considering no run game or protection.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

In the first half we had at least 3 drives at or around midfield, and two of those drives Brissett had time and an open receiver on 3rd down and threw it into the ground killing those drives. Short and easy throws too.

When the team is struggling, you have to make the best of limited opportunities, and Brissett failed to capitalize on those opportunities. That is a major reason why we only had 3 points through 3 quarters.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Add that to 0 points through 3 and a half quarters against Buffalo, and only 7 points against the Raiders through the 1st 3 quarters (excluding the defensive td).

In the 1st 3 quarters of 3 games, Brissett has given us a whopping 1 TD and 1 fg, and the fg was set up by a fumble that left us in fg range.

So Brissett has really only led the team to 1 TD in the 1st 3 quarters of 3 flipping games. Yes, the team is a mess. Yes, it isn’t even close to all Brissett’s fault. Yes, maybe Brissett would be ok if the oline and running game were better, but I can only imagine how badly Tua would be getting killed right now if those were his numbers regardless of reasons, lol.

The only thing Brissett has done to help this team win was he had a very good last 7 or 8 minutes against the Raiders.

Realistically we have to attack the Bucs because 3 guys out. Problem is they have a great pass rush and Brissett is our QB

  69. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

The Bucs are dead last in passing yards yielded per game. Their secondary is very suspect. On Sunday, we can’t play too conservatively. Like Jay Feely said all game this past Sunday, take some shots deep with DeVante and Gesicki.

  70. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I would leave whichever RB I have in the game at the time in for the entire series. Stop this swapping them every play BS!

  72. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I don’t remember if it was the Pets or another team, but they basically didn’t even bother trying to run on the Bucs.

The way this wacky season has gone so far, we’ll probably run hog wild over the Bucs, get 300 yards rushing, and win by 20, lol. (not really)

I’m seeing the run as the draw unless yardage needed says different.
    ————–
Whatever it takes. If we become too 1-dimensional, we’ve already lost the game.

  75. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

evidently you didn’t watch the game and see him having to break the pocket and run for his life just about every play. and our stout 50 yards of ground game.
blame it all on brissett like he’s the only one playing though.
    what was i thinking?

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

This season is reminding me of our 2006 season, where Peter King picked us to go to the Super Bowl. We have weapons galore on Offense, but no O-Line.

Without an adequate O-Line, the passing game and running game collapse.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I literally said it wasn’t all Brissett’s fault. But we shouldn’t be bagging on the rest of the team and praising Brissett, because he is sucking hind tit just as much as nearly everyone else, lol.

Just because he doesn’t have 5 seconds to throw on every single play doesn’t mean he gets a pass for missing reads, missing open guys, throwing the ball in the dirt when he does have time, killing drives when our defense gives us a short field, not capitalizing on opportunities he does have, etc.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I also have walked back my “He effing suuucks” comment. I’ve said a couple of times, he might be adequate if the oline wasn’t a mess, but he’s still backup quality, which is why he’s a backup in the league.

I have revised my statement to “he sucks”. Dropping the emphasis of ‘effing’ and an accentuating ‘u’ or two. lol

    ———–
Yeah, I think this tortoise weighs a LOT… not something you can just put in mere box, Bro!

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

My fridge came in a box. Think could be done. And largest Gopher Tortoise ever found in FLA was 33 pounds. We have boxes for that weight.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Oh! I presumed that the Gopher Tortoise became much larger. My mistake, and please read me below. The snapping turtle I came across was MUCH larger and heavier.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I think a lot of the time, us northerners presume much bigger, heavier in Florida than what is up here. Only exception? Dobson flies!

  78. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I may have told this story before, but here goes. About 20 years ago, I threw a house party that lasted until the early morning (per the usche). It was still dark, and my dude told me that he spotted what appeared to be a HUGE turtle, just across the street from me.

I didn’t believe him, and the party continued. By daybreak, I became interested in what he had told me. So, we went across the street to see if we could find it… if it was even still there.

HOLY $#!t, it was real, and it was still there… it was a snapping turtle, and I mean MASSIVE. I was drunk off my ass, so I tried to pick it up from behind. Seriously, this thing weighed HEAVY. Its head and neck were the size of a small tree trunk, and it looked so very, very old.

Thing started hissing at me… it was pissed! So drunken me (the animal lover that I am) decided that I was going to kiss it on the top of its head. As I did so (yes, I succeeded), it turned its head around to bite my face off. The Force was with me that day with my Jedi reflexes (LOL)!

Had that thing bitten me, I’d have no nose today, and probably worse. We all bid farewell to this magnificent creature, never to see it again.

Moral of the story: respect nature SAFELY.

And: these turtles/tortoises can become GIGANTIC. It’s not an easy task to ‘remove’ them from their natty habitats.

    —————–
All good, and totally understood where you’re coming from! But I’ll say this much: even Colin Kaepernick wouldn’t be able to pick/hold this thing up as his photo shows. And 20 years ago, I can all but guarantee I was stronger than he. This mofo was too big, too heavy, and altogether ergonomically impossible to pick up… not to mention its overly aggressive behavior.

    I LOVE nature!

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

And that is my favorite island. Been there like 7 times. Started with Kaanapali and Kapalua, but guess as an older guy have gone Wailea, but I don’t even know if you go West Coast.

Yes! the snorkeling is unreal. At Lokelani, you can literally go out the backdoor of your condo (down the stairs for 2nd floor condos), walk the 50 yards of beach, and just swim out to great snorkeling.

During the right season, it’s also a perfect place to sit on the patio and watch the whales swim between Maui and Lanai.

Here we go again, LOL. Yes, I was stronger than Kaep in my day (size matters?). Yes, I played ball.

Stanger, 6’4″, 229, doesn’t make one strong at face value. We’ve both seen 300+ pound O-Linemen struggle on the bench press, as we’ve seen the likes of 175-pound WRs and running backs put up more.

Stronger, I suppose, is a relative term, but when one can put up more weight than somebody who outweighs another by over 125 pounds, that’s called STRENGTH.

I used to eat a lot of turtle growing up. I would go with my grandfather all the time running turtle lines. I remember one we got and could barely get it into the boat between the 2 of us. I was 14 and that thing looked like it could take my whole hand.

I’m asking about your athletic past. Did you play CB for Penn State?
    ———–
NO, I never saw the field as a CB for PSU, nor did I ever say that I had. I’ve stated here MANY times prior that my shoulder blew out in my freshman year. And it also cost me my volleyball career.

This should be common knowledge by now. INJURY cost me a potential life as an athlete.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

My bad for not knowing what apparently everyone else does. I take it you were looking to play PSU football before that. Did you get a scholarship or were you a walk on? It’s a football blog and this is big time football stuff.

  90. the best way to avoid gophers, is dont clear the lot until the build is ready to begin.
they wont nest in a heavily wooded or weeds area.

gophers will move into a freshly cleared lot and take over. then its hell getting them out

  91. Orob, i know You are in real estate now, thats smart, glad to hear

but i wanted to mention to check Your county for tax deed auctions, and give them a try

i research the properties before the auction, to know which ones are suitable, and

many of the lots are in developments, and the developer is foreign owned, went bankrupt, and wont challenge the tax deed when you pay it.

this is how You can pick up suitable lots for pennies on the dollar, with nobody to challenge it

there is no risk, even if they did challenge and pay their delinquent taxes at the last minute, you get Your money back with a little interest with it, and can bid on many others
