This must be how Dolphins players see the Ravens, because we play them as if we’re terrified of them. I’ve documented here our failures against the Ravens, but lest you forget, our last 3 meetings with the Ravens we’ve been massacred, bludgeoned and beaten and outscored 137-16. No typo. ONE HUNDRED THIRTY SEVEN to SIXTEEN. The Ravens are a historically well coached team, and since John Harbaugh took the reins, the Ravens since 2008 are 135-85, good for a .625 winning percentage.. That’s NFL royalty right there. The Dolphins on the other hand, since 2008 are 98-110. No longer among the best teams in the NFL, the Dolphins have been clearly in the bottom half of the NFL 32. In addition, during John Harbaugh’s successful reign beginning in 2008, the Dolphins have employed 5 different Head Coaches, Tony Sparano, Todd Bowles, Joe Philbin, Adam Gase and now Brian Flores. Brian Flores at the moment is sliding downhill and more than likely tonight’s meeting with the Ravens will leave him and the Dolphins on shakier ground.
The Dolphins stumbled and bumbled through 5 turnovers to eek out a victory over the equally hapless Houston Texans, you know, the team with the QB who doesn’t play that has 22 civil suits lodged against him, the one that our team owner Stephen Ross, desperate fuck is he, personally calls said QB to have a little chat. (Disgraceful!!!). Not going to spend any more time on that game, it was awful, admittedly I only watched bits and pieces which is all this excuse of a team deserves at this point. This week we play the the big boys, the bullies, the kind of team that will put their foot on your neck and keep it there until 60 minutes are up. The Ravens are the antithesis of the Texans, they are buttoned up, they have the same system and coach for quite a while now and they are a perennial winning franchise. This what we hope the Dolphins become. Last year Brian Flores inspired us to believe that we were heading in that direction. BITCHSLAP!!! Back to reality dreamer!!!
The Ravens are a running team, and it’s mostly their dangerous QB Lamar Jackson doing the running. He actually leads the Ravens with 600 yards rushing, followed by a trio of “once weres” in Latavius Murray, Devonta Freeman and Le’Veon Bell and most likely never will be in Ty’Son Williams. The quartet of aforementioned RB’s have just 62 more rushing yards combined than the QB (662-600). Our leading rusher is Myles Gaskin with 313 yards. Our RB’s have accounted for all of TWO TD’s this season on the ground. That’s how easy it is to get 2-7. Not one of our RB’s is averaging more than 3.8 YPC and our starter Myles Gaskin is averaging 3.6. There’s an O-line problem, and a gameplan problem. Just because you can’t run successfully doesn’t mean you don’t do it. We have a measly 158 rush attempts this season.
Anyway, if you’re watching tonight, best of luck to you, I recommend being on a soft, cushioned couch near no sharp edges and I’d probably lay off the heavy alcohol if you tend to get ornery and violent. Your house will thank you. I most likely won’t watch this one from start to finish but I do think there’s a part of me, the sadistic and masochistic part of me that wants to flip on the game and see another 59-10 slaughter so I can see the carnage. I don’t want Tua to get injured and I’m not even sure if his finger is still swollen if he should play at all. This Ravens defense doesn’t have the teeth they used to have but they do have an excellent Head Coach who will find weaknesses and there are 5 of them on the field every week right in front of either #1 or #14.
Note: Boulder – I just saw your comment pending this morning, I approved it, so if you happen to check back, you can now post freely if you choose to do so. Welcome back!! Sorry we missed it.
GO DOLPHINS!!!DOLPHINS!!!!

First?
Never been first before!
Congratulations! Long overdue!
IT’S GAME DAY BITCHES!!!!
GO DOLPHINS!!!
BEAT THE RAVENS!!
I’d also just like to say thanks to Mike E especially but also anyone else who contributes to this site. Bookman (in jest) said the other night it’s silly. It is, but along with being highly informative, it’s also very entertaining due to a collective sense of humour which stretches all the way back to FFR and his naked cheerleaders and Randy with his bucket right through to the present day with Piggy and his Samurai and inquisitive burrowing rodents. This is what binds the “company of bloggers” together despite any other apparent differences.
I love your articles too Mike E. The research you put into them is a credit to you. As mentioned previously, I won’t be watching the 1:20am (here) kick off – will try to find highlights on Sky tomorrow. I fear a bloodbath but hope springs eternal.
Thanks UK – appreciate that
I hate losing to the Ravens more than the Jets, but I’m not sure what we gain by playing Tua tonight. It’s not like they’d put him in a position to be successful anyway.
If his finger is good, he should play. He’s the starter for better or worse.
^
I expect tonight to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back, so to speak. Ross will see the 4th ass beating in the last four matchups and a combined score of 179-28 and say “No mas”.
The question will be when does he swing the axe?
I’ve always love when people make the argument that the reason we aren’t attempting to run the ball is because we aren’t successful at it, but we sure as heck aren’t successful at passing the ball and we continue to do that for no reason.
Precisely!
Good write up Mike! I didn’t even notice a typo. 😉 I appreciate the extra work you do to keep the board fresh. It really does take effort to put aside the time from your everyday life to sit and write a new article every few days.
thanks again.
ditto
Thanks Rock
very hard to disseminate though
Actually, in this case that word means what he thinks it means and he easily disseminates the article by posting it to the blog.
we win tonight.

But when you call say a run play and the RB gets hit behind the LOS what did it have to do with how they called it? If you don’t block a pass play, same thing. When we all agree that our OL is a weak link, it really all starts there…
———————
YUP, and we absolutely concur. What should we do about it in order to fix it? I’m at loss, other than to bring one of the better O-Line coordinators in the game to Miami. But we’ve tried that before, too.
———————————————————
The fix would be to abandon RPO and dumb it down. Let them not have to think much as was said last night by someone.
Bryan brought up a good point. The OL always starts off in run block mode every play in RPO. One – they can’t attack the opposing D for fear of being down field to far. Two – Starting out run blocking, if the first read isn’t there, the OL is already out of position when the play has to be extended.
Here are some interesting stat splits for Myles Gaskin. Granted they need more context and investigation, but there are some things that are just odd.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/splits/_/id/3886818/myles-gaskin
when we have a lead he averages 2.2 ypc
when we are tied or playing from behind he avgs over 4 ypc
1st down runs avgs 2.9 pc carry
2nd down and higher he avgs. over 4 yards again
For some reason his ypc is terrible once we cross into the opponents territory
When we are on our own 21-50 he avgs over 4 ypc. Once we cross that threshold he’s at below 3 yards again. Part of that is the redzone space gets tighter, but it’s still at 2.8ypc between the opponents 50-21
Mike,
I’d rather have Tua for the long run than some meaningless game where he might not be fully healed.
The Ravens defense doesn’t scare anyone anymore. He’s the man SB, if he’s healthy enough and can throw well enough he has to be out there. I think he gives the team a better shot to win so therefore if his finger isn’t swelling, he has to play.
Healthy enough could mean a lot of things. I don’t really care about wins at this point in the season. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth hurting Tua in the long run.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32600545/will-miami-dolphins-gm-chris-grier-aggressive-moves-pay-long-run?platform=amp
From the article and what several of us have been saying:
“Tua has not been healthy,” Riddick said. “When you look at Herbert’s situation, he had great mentors in the early part of his career … and then on top of it, a guy like Herbert has had great weapons in guys like [receivers] Mike Williams and Keenan Allen.
“Tua has had none of that. He hasn’t had the help, he hasn’t had the mentors, he hasn’t been in the same kind of offensive system that would lead to him having the kind of success that Justin Herbert has had. I just don’t know how you can make a true, definitive declaration as to what he is when you haven’t really set the table for him.”
It’s one of the reasons I thought we should have went with Anthony Lynn as our OC, and even though he’s not as innovative of a guy that I like, he’s at least somewhat competent. He’s shown he knows what it takes to set up a young QB for success.
What stood out to me about Gaskins in the last game were the holes he missed. Really really poor vision.
The coaching staff admitted concern he wasn’t getting to the line quickly enough, so they’ve been training him up.
👍
SB – I don’t think Tua should be coddled either. What do we learn about him while he’s on the bench? I think we need to see as much of him as possible, even under duress to see if he’s the future if this team. He looks far from a lock at being our QB fir the next decade. Let him play!
I didn’t say he should be coddled. I was literally the only person on this blog saying he shouldn’t have been pulled in important down situations after the first game. For me, this isn’t about learning about Tua. It’s about not mishandling an injury. I don’t want to see him play this game only to miss the next several because he was playing through something he didn’t need to, or worse damaging him for the long run like was done to RG3.
I’ve already seen enough of Tua to know what kind of QB he will be in this league. I think he’s in the same tier as Tannehill and he just needs to be the QB who keeps this team afloat until we find the guy who will be here for 10+ years. None of that matters because this team hasn’t been built to support good QB play anyway.
Who ever said you get what you pay for?
A lot of our guys are on rookie contracts so that makes sense
Mike, I heard on the radio this morning that Brissett is starting tonight.
Yuck!! Disappointing . . . The thought of watching Brissett again is tough to deal with. 🤮
To all of our Veterans on here thank you for your service and have a great day.
Free dinner at Sonny’s for vets today 😁
I think there is some confusion among some of you on what the RPO actually is and how it works.
Here is a good article to read to edumakate your selves.
https://www.viqtorysports.com/understanding-rpo/
RPO passes are by design short passes by the way. It is up to the QB to read the LB or safety to determine whether to hand the ball off or pull it back and throw the the opened WR when the LB / safety bites on the run.
The point being the RPO doesn’t fail because the D knows what is coming. It is the exact opposite. The RPO starts off every play as a run play and puts the pressure on the D to make the choice to defend the run or the pass. RPO’s fail most often because the QB misreads the LB /Safety. Most often there is no “Deep” component to an RPO exactly because it is designed to take advantage of the LB / Safety being in the wrong position. The argument that it hurts the Oline because they can’t pass block after starting off run blocking is wrong. They are always run blocking on an RPO.

*****
Yeah that stood out to me too
But it’s not just vision, it’s lack of acceleration
This is why we need to draft a RB before the 7th round
Those physical qualities that higher picks have, especially at the RB position can make a a big difference
I like gaskin, but for me he’s a guy in your stable you use to give another RB a rest
I think they really made a huge mistake he last 2 years by passing on a lot of good RBs with a lot of pucks available
(so, yes, ORob, the RPO fails often in Miami because Tua makes the wrong read)
How dare you mention my name!
I don’t think Tua makes the wrong read mr rockphin, i think the opposing D C’s know he has a weak arm and therefore they crowd the LOS, he would have to throw the ball outside the numbers or deep consistently to change their mindset and so far that hasn’t happened.
they crowd the LOS and that’s why we suck at running
🙄
I have not yet seen anything saying Brissett is starting tonight. Is there any further confirmation of that?
I did see him throw one to waddle outside the numbers and i was very impressed with waddles route running capabilities. he started up the middle turned his head to the inside that prompted the db to turn his head as well at tua, at the sametime waddle was turning his head to the inside he turned his route out, he was outside the numbers and tua floated it to him for a good gain, never would’ve happened without waddles great route running.
So now I just saw this:
This is a problem
Tua or Brissett?
6 one way half a dozen the other.
No Tua is clearly better than Brissett. Better completion %,YPA and TD to ints
coming from a guy willing to pass on manning
But I was right on Tannehill
they both have their pros and cons, brissett is more of a deep threat and that’s what this team needs
And by the way I gave you an objective measurement to which you offered no reply
my reply is above
You keep saying Brissett is more of a deep threat but objectively he is not. That has historically been the biggest weakness and criticism of his game is that he doesn’t throw deep
have you ever wondered why we don’t throw bombs? when was the last time we completed a “BOMB”
riddle me that batman?
Against the Bills 2 weeks ago
how long and who was it too?
40 yards to Gisecki
25% more than the 2nd worst team in the league.
It’s absurdly bad.
most of the big gains i see are the quick inside routes to gesicki with RAC, nothing like bombs away!
Thanks Mike, Hello everyone. It’s great to see everyone is still here. I’m so disappointed with the season we’re having 😦
Wow, been a long time, Boulder. Great to see ya on the board. Hope everything is well with you and yours.
Thanks man. Yes it has. Just been going through a lot the last couple of years (got divorced etc). But I’m glad to be back.
Welcome back Boulder. Sorry to hear about your troubles but happy to have you back. This place is good therapy. You will come away saying at least I am not as dysfunctional as that group lol
lol
Wow welcome back Boulder, maybe you showing up will bring our Fins some luck tonight. Never to late to play spoiler.
I hope so. We certainly need it. I had high hopes for the phins this season.
Boulder sighting!
Welcome back
thanks bro. Good to see ya.
How cool is that?

Mike — a great article even if not a good pre-game pep talk. 🙂
We’re gonna lose, but that is what teams like us do in games like this. The four after are winnable.
Boulder – welcome back!!! Glad to see you caught the note

Those guys are soft, Ravens 52-3
Phins play the Panthers Nov. 28.
—————————-
The Carolina Panthers need a quarterback. With Sam Darnold out for at least four weeks with a fractured scapula in his throwing shoulder, they need someone who can hold down the fort for a month and quite possibly longer. And you’ll never guess who they’re turning to in Darnold’s absence.
Cam Newton.
They should bring back Steve Smith too!
Steve – that might be a tad high. If I had to pick a score I’d say 41-10
i’m thinking 21-17 Miami, Lamar gets stuffed!
any team can beat any other team on any given thurs night.
that’s why they play the game.
Only way that happens is if Vegas makes a killing on it. Otherwise, no shot in hell
Howie’s list
Rockphin 44-13 Balt
🐷 24-14 🐬
SteveCCNV 52-3 Balt
MikeE 41-10 Balt
I thought I was being generous with my 13 points for the Dolphins but it seems to be about what others are thinking as well.
Vegas says 7.5 points. But I’m more with you on two touchdowns. If was ever a time to call in a bet against the Dolphins….. But I would never do that, but that just me.
I have a $20 bet with my coworker that Balt will put up 40 or more points tonight. He still thinks the Dolphins D is a force to be contended with…..
Lamar Smith runs for over 50 yards tonight.
jackson, where the hell did smith come from? LOL
1999
Party like it’s…
that’s probably where it bubbled up from 1999 dolphins squad.
Hell I am hoping we keep him under 100
Stanger, I think Vegas is wrong this game. As Mike noted in the article above 137-16 the last 3 games. I think the dominance will continue. Especially because they are strong everywhere we are weak against. They will pound the rock on us and run for more than 200 yards tonight.
And I agree. Why said if ever a time to bet against our team tonight is it.
The crew at the Baltimore Sun made their predictions too. Seem confident. Didn’t include the names cause no one knows them.
Ravens 28, Dolphins 14
Ravens 31, Dolphins 17
Ravens 30, Dolphins 17
Ravens 28, Dolphins 14
Ravens 34, Dolphins 13

I’m not going to read their “harsh” comments, as I believe my opinion is probably harsher than theirs at this point.
So it looks like only Piggy and the “Fan who’s name may not be spoken by me” are the only two who think the Fins will win tonight?
Say his name! LOL
I think we can win. If they completely overlook us and forget to show up.
Is it likely? Who knows? I might even do some laundry. 😉
Laundry time! It is not game day it’s laundry day
Did you meet the mother of your daughter’s boyfriend? Sorta hoping you didn’t.
You kidding I am sorta hoping she did.
Would be great for a TV/board moment, maybe not so much for the kids down the road. And far as could tell no one was thinking about having kids.
Good write, Mike. This game could get ugly tonight.
What makes anyone think Brissett is a deep threat passer?
Great question. Obviously someone who is not familiar with Brissett history or game
Just watch him with us, it takes him 40 passes to get to 200 yards. LOL
Not that, but I do think Brissett is an OK back-up QB. Just seems at times we get confused that is all he is. They sure are creating the suspense about Tua or not to night though.
OBJ to Rams
He’ll probably ruin their season somehow.
“The idea that we’re going to be serially bringing these people in to sit with the victim’s family one after another,. Obviously there’s only so many pastors they can have, and if their pastor is Al Sharpton right now, that’s fine, that’s it, we don’t want any more Black pastors coming in here.”
— Kevin Gough, attorney for one of three white men on trial for killing Ahmaud Arbery. The dude chased down and shot for jogging through a white neighborhood. Not a good look.
Sometimes it’s better to not say anything.
Given what the trial was about — I cringed.
Just sad
I wouldn’t want Al Sharpton. Black pastors are fine but race baiters who obviously don’t follow the Bible shouldn’t be given as much attention as he’s gotten over the years. Pimping out his melanin levels to make a living. Shameful human being. The family is trying to make this a circus.
Not a fan of Sharpton either, but this is about who the family of the guy who died want to sit with in stands at the trial. You want to tell his mother who to sit with? I sure don’t.
No, but bringing Al Sharpton doesn’t look good for her either. Does she want justice or the Circus?
Then that is a mistake on her part. Will stick with the lawyer for one of the guys accused of killing her son should not insist she sits next to any “Black pastors.”
I strongly dislike Baltimore. They seem to always play well against us. I’m not too worried about the score. I’d like to see us hang with them physically and compete. I’d even look the other way with a couple well timed personal fouls on our part.
No man no bush league crap just go out and man up and win a game
Are we wearing aqua on aqua tonight?
Anybody know the uni for tonight?
Rather the throwbacks
I’d like to see all orange 😁
How about all aqua, with the new pukey aqua color so we look worse than how we play

Not yet. But probably will soon. I get along great with the BF, I’ve earned some cool mom points, showed him how to stream games, gave him links to use. My daughter was telling me he says your mom is so cool. He’s a Bengals fan as far as NFL is concerned. He even asked me to go to a Herd game with them. I don’t think he asks his mom to go along.
😂😎
We’ve known you were the cool mom for a long time now just saying
My best advice is not to worry about the Mom much. Your daughter and her guy are what matters. Even if yeah comes to planning a wedding might get interesting. 🙂
son,
You don’t do something dirty….just make sure you’re playing thru the whistle. Finish your blocks until they’re on the ground. Tackle thru guys. No arm tackles.
Brissett starting tonight
My enthusiasm level has gotten even lower
I saw that Preston Williams is playing tonight. They mentioned that he’s no longer being disciplined. Anyone know what that was about?
It’s about the playbook aka you aren’t throwing it to me
Is that what it was about?
Really hope it’s not bc he’s got a Case of the dropsies
I actually thought I might miss the game
But
And I can’t believe I’m doing this to myself
I cleared my schedule
And now I can watch the game
So I ask you:
Why?
To feel the pain
Because as frustrated as you are, you’re a fan.
I don’t expect us to win tonight, but if we can be competitive and make it a game I’ll take it. See some young players step up and go from there. That’s all we really have right now.
How many times do dudes on this board say there are no moral victories? Well that’s pretty much all tonight can offer.
Pretty sure it ain’t cause you just bagged on Kate.

Love that song and love that version
Same here, I like this version better than Nine Inch Nails who wrote it – Trent Reznor.
Ditto
I’m going to the bar to watch the game, I need to be medicated when getting a root canal
Fuck , I actually have to start Brissett in a FF game 😕
Just put on my Tua jersey … it worked Sunday 🤷♂️👍
👍8💪🐬🐽💥
Should I?
I just read that tonight will be the first game all year the Ravens will have their top 3 WRs: Brown, Watkins, Bateman. Should be a blast.
LOL
Hang in there guys I admire everyone taking positions let’s fight tonight
Fight like mother fuckers tonight
Show Coach why he risked it all
1st qtr, trying to stay positive
Yes Randy scrap tonight I hear ya
2nd qtr
Well if they win tonight, the next 4 are easy, should be 7-7 with 3 to play 😒
They won’t win tonight. Very well might pick up 2 or 3 of those next 4 though.
3rd qtr
End of regulation
If it’s like a 30 + point differential against us I’ll be laughing and crying at the same time
SB – got a question for you. What do you think of Tua being active and being the QB 2 on GameDay? Thats kind of my problem, if he’s healthy enough to play, play him. If he’s not, then sit him and he’s out.
It shows Aaron Rodgers has a destination
Rogers’ destination is a hospital if he plays behind this Miami line.
They don’t have another QB who’s ready to play. We signed some QB to our PS but he’s not available. I think what they’re doing is saying let’s see if we can compete and win the game with Brissett and allow Tua to heal. If he has to play, play through the pain and being hampered with the grip on the ball. Sometimes that’s the situation.
I just watched the 85 Dolphins/Bears game recently and Jim McMahon didn’t start because of a shoulder injury. But when Steve Fuller couldn’t play any longer due to an ankle injury, McMahon had to finish the game. That’s where we are.
This is the only similarity we have to the 85 Bears.
LMAO
Friday morning
Stop
Those are my predictions
Bastard pig.
I bet you have Dolphins gear on
The noose is aqua and orange
Pig on 🔥
SONNY: To find Roger’s destination read my comment about 6-7 spots up the page.
Probably be about 15K in the stands tonight. At least 8K will be fucking Ravens fans
Gonna be a lot of ravens fans, but thinking will be a lot more than 15k.
I’m watching the M*A*S*H Finale instead of the game.
It won’t be as sad as the game.
Goodbye
Watching Schindler’s List might not be as sad as the game
Come on man
Let’s roll
Lol
What’s the over/under on mentioning “the trade”
100% chance we see an entire segment on what the 2022 trade deadline means for Tua
Not if he doesn’t make it to draft day
They did already pregame
MY DEEPEST THANKS to all of you who said nice things today about our veterans. As a group, you are all special in my heart and soul.
—————————-
Our gang of about 16 employees all signed an unbelievable card for the 2 veterans who work where I work. Then they got us a terrific pizza for lunch, plus some other “goodies.” My wife took me out to Longhorn’s for a steak dinner. Next up: the Fins host the Ravens. Put me in the chorus who says we are going to get our asses kicked again. Clueless owner, incompetent scouts, coaching staff of fools and a grossly under talented team and what do you get??? – – – Why another Dolphins’ defeat, of course! And, worst of all, this time next week I’ll be in Baltimore for a convention LOADED with RAVENS FANS!!! – – Thank you Steve Ross!!
————————-
Y’all have a great evening. Talk to you tomorrow!
Let’s see what happens tonight
PS: Agree with Young Stanger. There will be more than 15K in the stands. PROBLEM is maybe half or more will be rooting for the Ravens!!! Gotta love that guy Ross!
Tua is now the back up?
No he’s just the # Tua today
Alright time to put on my positive face
This is what I meant
LOL, you guys are killing me
About time to start whooping that ass
Yep puck drops now 🤡
Lets go miami
Wonder what Camarillo is doing tonight 🤔
I am guessing not watching this
We could use him tonight LOL
What’s the over /under on # of plays before Williams is hurt ??
Damn losing already 1-0
Ice smack by Holland 🇨🇦
Nice
At least Holland blasted him
He was down
WTF no challenge?
With all the dumb challenges he has tried this year he didn’t on that play ??
I think I could do a better job telling them when to challenge than whoever they have doing it now.
I would agree
Who handles our challenge reviews that person should be fired
I said the same thing Sunday.
I owe you a beer
Nah, 4 day old beer is awful.
The refs really should have seen that he was down
It worked but I hate those blitzes on 3rd down
