If you were on the blog yesterday, you’ve probably read that one of our own here at FMU has been dealt a serious blow, Jon “Stanger” suffered a serious heart attack 2 weeks ago. The good news is he survived it and is now out of the ICU and heading in the right direction. If you know and have met Stanger, he’s one of the kindest, nicest people you can meet. It was very touch and go there for him, we’re all thankful he’s beginning to improve. Our best from FMU for a full and speedy recovery to a fine man. Godspeed in your recovery Jon!
I’ve said it here myself because you have to feel that the BYE week may end up actually hurting us this season despite the fact that this is the time of season where it can really help a playoff push by getting guys healthy. On the other hand momentum is real, and the 5 week winning streak is now over, without actually playing. It’s going to take a lot of focus by our team to stay on track when we face the NY Jets at home at Hard Rock Stadium 12/19. At 6-7, defeating the Jets would bring us to .500 and still relevant for the playoff push, astonishing considering our 1-7 start.
The defense has come alive and has really sparked this team. The offense has done enough to win games but the defense has been the key. Tua has run this short passing offense as well as it could be run, making quick decisions, and quick, accurate throws. All this completely out of necessity due to the O-line’s inability to pass block and run block. For the millionth time it’s not because Tua can’t throw further than 5 yards, and to give ORob a pass here, he’s far from the only one who says that, I hear it on NY sports shows, I see it on twitter all the time from Dolphins fans and it’s just become like a tag Tua has now, that he has a pop gun arm. Personally, I couldn’t give a rats ass as long as when our O-line improves, that he shows all these people he can throw the ball downfield, but until then, I’m fine with him doing what’s necessary.
About that defense, our 2nd first round draft pick of 2021, DE/LB Jaelan Phillips has really turned up the heat! Of course it’s not just Phillips, Emmanuel Ogbah is as steady as they come, always bringing strong pressure from the other side. Ogbah leads the team with QB hits with 19, followed by AVG with 18, and then Phillips with 16. Of course, the rookie Phillips now leads with 8.5 sacks, followed by Ogbah with 6. Ogbah, Wilkins and Phillips are tied with 7 TFL. Xavien Howard has 4 INT’s, 2 FF’s, 2 FR’s, and 14 passes defensed, easily the leader on this team. Rookie Jevon Holland has also been a huge spark, rushing the QB, making tackles, snaring INT’s. He’s basically everywhere, especially since S Brandon Jones has missed some time.
Things are looking up people, the Dolphins are looking legit and our good friend Jon (Stanger) is healing and on the mend. Now Sonny can take us into the BYE week with the BYE Week Bi-Babe.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

FOIST!
GO STANGER!
Good write up again MikeE.
Have they announced what time the Jet’s game will be played yet next week? It was one of those “Flex games” TBD.
Looks like 1PM, CBS
good write Mike, with the exception of this,,,I hear it on NY sports shows, ,,,,,,
LMAO
NY shows and NY fans dont know shit about Miami, or respect Miami, no need to waste time listening to those idiots
we saw Tua hit Hollins with a pass that traveled in the air 53 yards, 53 being much higher than the average NY jets fans, or Orobs IQ
Dude, no need for the constant cheap shots against Orob, especially when the guy hasn’t said anything.
I hear it on WQAM also, it has nothing to do with location. Joe Rose, Zack Krantz and other guys on WQAM have said it too. Also, the guys on the NY sports shows aren’t necessarily NY fans, they’re sports guys. What’s with this nonsensical thing that you can’t know about a team unless you live in the state from which they play? It’s fucking 2021, I can get info from anywhere, yes, even FLA. Imagine that? lol
yea, NY doesnt even have any NFL teams, so much for location, lol
the Giants and jets play in New Jersey, and both SUCK
at best, they could be jealous that NY doesnt have a great team like Miami
but in all seriousness, the location of a sports show, DOES matter, NY has never respected Miami, because they are bias against Miami
are we talking all of NY, or just NYC?
either way, they arent well known for liking the Dolphins
NYC does have internet, so of course its possible for them to learn the truth, unlike many other areas of the US that dont have internet.
but they are biased against Miami
but anyone that saw Tua complete a pass to Hollins that traveled 53 yards, KNOWS whats what
and doesnt need some NY sports show to tell him it didnt happen
This is such a stupid argument.
Village idiot spreading propaganda again
unlike many other areas of the US that dont have internet
Why do you even come here?
Good write Mike. Thanks for the continued articles.
Go BYE week!
I want the bye week babe 😡lol
Mike, was the photo of the punter an homage to Stanger? LOL
But of course my friend. In our FF league his team is “Fields Forever” 🙂
alright Steve, explain why NY is the best place for Dolphins news, and explain WHY Tua had a pass that traveled 53 yards with a popcorn arm
YOU are the IDIOT, im correct! lmao,. some things never change
did you see the pass or not? do you NEED a NY sports show , hardly the best place for Dolphin news, telling You Tua cant complete it?
or, can You watch the games and formulate YOUR OWN opinion?
Yeah, some things never change….
i thought You were a Dolphin fan, my bad
You can’t even read a post and figure out what was said
I even copied and pasted what you said, that was propaganda, but you go on about Tua
another Dolphin hater, wow
why do you guys hate the Dolphins, they are on a 5 game win streak, better than ANY NY team
Easy to see why you’re a hardcore lefty, I mention the internet lie and you come back with Fins hater
And gaslighter
Damn, terrible just hearing about Stanger. A great blog friend who brings a lot of knowledge here. My daily prayers go out to you Stanger and your family. Wishing and praying for your strength and speedy recovery. God Bless you, my man!
Nice write Mike!
Think our D came alive, but was also benefitted from soft part of schedule and the O’s pseudo running game, aka high % short passes
It’s a team game, you can’t play good D, unless the O can move the ball some
No question the schedule helped, but also keep in mind no one expected us to beat the Baltimore Ravens (myself included), and the Panthers had some mojo with Cam Newton coming back. We’ve seen our team play down to the level of competition so many times that you have to give them credit for winning games they should win.
i didnt know it was so bad to defend the Dolphins on a Dolphin blog, lol
for the ones that defend some dufus in NY that has a show that lied about Tua, over whats really going on in Miami is disappointing, where are the Dolphin fans at?
More sad
He was auto racing for me, my favorite driver as a kid
RIP Al
If you ain’t rubbing you ain’t rating!

Great write Mike E. Keep getting better Jon. #Stangersrong !!
#Stangerstrong
stick it NY, lol
Jets gonna taste some PAIN soon! go MIAMI !
David unless your invited into the locker room, you get the same Fins news everyone does!
Oh and it’s the All-American Christmas Tree! I guess you got the other name from one of the Cumhole brothers??????
100% – It was a Christmas Tree. I have no idea where that Hanukkah tree story came from.
it came from the FOX and friends newscast, You didnt see it?
lol the FOX and friends hosts called it the tree of hanukkah, and the tree of America, and Jesus, and a holiday tree!
they were funny as hell, self destructing in their annual phony war against christmas bullshit
watch it on you tube, if you missed the artificial tree news, from the artificial fox and friends
and as for TUa having a popcorn arm, like the NY idiots claim, they should have watched the Dolphins vs Jets game like the rest of us, and marvelled at Tuas 65 yard TD
Actually while I was reading your post I was watching Fox, and the hosts called it the All-American Christmas Tree.
So try it again?
Better yet leave it alone? I don’t care
theres MORE TO WATCH< i even provided some links of AInsley Earhart saying hanukkah tree
RIP Al Unser – My dad was an A.J. Foyt fan so I became the same. Still, hard to think of racing and not think of the Unser name.
No shit, my dad was an A.J Foyt fan also. lol
How is that possible? My dad was not from Florida!!! LOL
https://www.timesofisrael.com/fox-news-host-christmas-tree-is-about-jesus-and-hanukkah/
https://forward.com/fast-forward/479287/hanukkah-fox-news-host-ainsley-earhardt-christmas-trees-jesus/
So basically the news you follow took her words out of context and then you took their words out of context. That’s some serious telephone game playing there.
Lol
wrong again, lol WOW
it is about the holiday season, it is about Jesus, it is about Hanukkah,” Earhardt said on Fox & Friends, the morning show she co-hosts. “
David – No, I don’t watch FOX News, or CNN, or MSNBC. I watch my local news, which is (Tri-state, NY,CT,NJ) news and it was a Christmas Tree. The only time I watch FOX news is when I get tired of seeing the media slant go too far one way and I need a respite, even though FOX goes way too far the other direction, at least it’s different.
no worries, im certainly not a fox viewer, except to watch them do stupid shit like the tree freak out, lol
they are often funnier than SNL, when they are trying to fearmonger and just fake news for the Murdoch agenda
How is that possible? My dad was not from Florida!!! LOL
———————
My dad is actually from Indiana. lol
Ha!! That’s great, 2 guys, one from IN and one from NY and they both liked a racing driver from Texas. 🙂
Unfortunately, later, my dad became a Jeff Gordon fan. lol
Good morning everyone it’s a lovely Friday and currently 72 degrees and not a cloud in the sky!
Godspeed Stanger!!! Awesome guy
Aye, Aye, Captain!
My racing childhood was Mario Andretti, Richard Petty, and Racer X
Racer X was awesome!! I guess you hated Speed Racer then
Nah. I liked Speedy too, but Rex was cooler!
Andretti seems to be an earlier generation than mine, and never got into Racer X, but highly respected the 2 real ones you mentioned
LOL SB – Well stated!

The last time #inflation was this high:
📺 Dallas and M*A*S*H were leading on the airwaves.
☎️ You had to make calls on a landline.
📜 President Biden was only on his 9th year in the Senate.
The American people can’t afford record-breaking #Bidenflation.
but the unemployment rate is at a 52 year low, thanks Biden
they cant afford the billionaire welfare, corporate subsidies
the economy was cooking last year, for the rich, not for the ones sitting at home
Quit gaslighting
im not, im just aware of financial news,
i have investments to manage and need to know the ENTIRE story, not just YOUR cherry picked stat
Please explain how inflation being this high is a cherry picked stat
Wife and I are putting up our Hanukkah Tree today. 😉
lmao, thats just dumb
So, this is what happens in a bye week. I must have forgotten. lol
Have to represent my fave. I was so into Speed Racer and the Mach 5 that when I was somewhere without my extensive collection of cars, I had corgi’s, matchbox and hot wheels everywhere, I used to take a 5 out of a deck of cars and pretend drive that around like it was a car. To this day I still love cars.

LOL, that’s awesome! I remember the only time I would ever get in a fight with my friends as a kid was when I would catch one of them stealing one of my hot wheels. Them fuckers! lol
We’d run through the woods as kids pretending to drive the mach 5 and every time we jumped over a ditch or stream, we’d make that “yunk yunk yunk yunk” sound. We’d even make paper planes to throw out to scout.
the banks took 15 million in overdraft fees in 2020, the year when many workers were out of work and dying .
lets take heed of the real culprits here, not red or blue parties,
its the gold party, the corporations running the show for themselves, they OWN congress
correction 15 BILLION*
Unemployment is low because they finally cut half the fucking lazy country’s ass off the Federal teet, something they should have done months earlier. Now these fuckers are back in the job force because they HAD to, you don’t get credit for an increase in jobs when you waited waaay too long to do what should have been done much earlier.
^^
Are you cherry pickin’ again Mike
I don’t know what you are talking about Mike
There was no federal teet that could have sustained or substituted employmment during covid
The money we gave people, was minuscule compared to most of the world, and it would not have been enough to be a susbstitite for employment, Republicans in Congress made sure of that
I’m not sure why anyone tries to sell this hogwash as a political point – a lot of us work because we like to work. Americans who are passionate about work rather than slaves that do it to avoid starvation is a much better America. We don’t have to make people suffer and take them to the brink of starvation to lower unemployment, we just have to make sure thebjob market is fluid
The difference was 1,000 VS 1,600 Every 2 weeks
Numbers a rounded because I’m to lazy to look them up!
For Texas I should add
I think it’s $600 more every 2 weeks everywhere – so that sounds right
You are also taxed on that $600
A lot of people who lost their jobs in 2020 were making more money that that. That’s a little over 15k a year increase. And then you are also going to have insurance bills.
I think the idea that people weren’t working to make a little more than 15k in a year before taxes may be applicable to some – but pretty few
LMAO!!!
Best show on the internet 🤣
That’s not Monica Lewinsky popcorn. It’s not going down!
LOL
SB – That’s great!! As a kid I lived in an apartment building complex, each building 23 stories high, so lots of cars in those huge parking lots. I would know every car model, many times which engine they had in it, I was just obsessed with cars.
Piggy – No way Jose! It’s pretty simple really. If people can make more money staying home than what they can make actually working, they will stay home! There’s no spin on that, it’s reality. My point is while they were giving out double checks, unemployment skyrocketed because people had little incentive to work. It was nearly impossible to find people to work while those double checks were being issued. I don’t understand how you don’t see that. I’m not saying people shouldn’t collect unemployment, but don’t incentivize people NOT to work and that’s what that accomplished.
I don’t see it bc it’s wrong. Im not saying you are spinning it – I’m saying the logic is wrong. You are guessing as to why people weren’t working and generalizing and that will consistently lead to a bad conclusion.
I think that’s an erroneous conservative mindset in this country that is debunked by most of the countries in Europe but still flows through most conservative ideology and one of many reasons I think conservatives are consistently wrong on economics
Having adequate safety nets in place does not usually affect some one’s motivation to work. But even if it did it’s no reason not to have it IMO.
When unemployment shot up In 2020 it was a direct result of so many employers fears about covid and letting people go. Although I think in time it was bound to go back no matter who the president was, I don’t think providing unemployment and federal help to masses of people who lost their job can reasonably be treated as factor in driving people not to work under those circumstances. The issue was never motivation to work.
I think it’s a problem to legislate motivation like you are suggesting here because it’s usually just projection and guessing as to why people are doing things. there so much of that “this is why these people don’t do this” in conservative ideology in politics today. I never understand it and most of the time, it’s wrong.
Besides that the math doesn’t add up. The teet you were referring to needed a training bra. It was not a lot of money and not much of an alternative to employment. Even if some one thought it was enough And decided to stay unemployed, down the line the are going to face serious problems with payment of things like health insurance. cobra is ridiculously expensive.
The reality is unemployment is not just down, their is a labor shortage in America right now. There is more jobs than labor and even if you speculated, that can be reduced to motivation t the same time the unemployment rate is down.
Unemployment is a complex issue. resolution by effectively telling people to pull themselves up by their bootstraps has always been off IMO
You’re correct pig the math doesn’t add up
We’ve always had a large enough labor force in this country until now
It’s pretty simple math to deduce why that is, and I don’t need a 500 word post full of fluff to explain why
I don’t know how you can say it wasn’t a lot of money. If it’s close to what you normally make, or more, then it’s a lot of money. We’re not talking about a professional person like yourself Jordi, we’re talking about workers that make $10-15 per hour, and that makes up a huge amount of the unskilled workforce. It’s political because payouts are a socialist-progressive mindset. Why do you think conservatives wanted to lower the amount? You can’t have half the country out of work and expect businesses to survive. Why do you think you see so many signs on businesses all over that say “Please be patient with our staff. We are short staffed because people don’t want to work anymore” There are signs like that all over NJ. Maybe you’re a little out of touch because you’re in your own office, but it was nearly impossible to hire people when those double checks were going out. When you work in an office with a bunch of people you hear things from coworkers about people they know who were more than happy to collect and stay home. It promotes a lazy country, that’s what socialism and progressive ideals create. Take from Peter to pay Paul. Of course not all Democrats are socialists or progressives but there is strong pressure from those that are, and it’s been acknowledged by the party itself. AOC shunned Amazon putting thousands of jobs in NY but was that really best for NY? I don’t think so!!
Oh it’s easy…and you don’t need a lot of words….lol
Why don’t you just make a stamp that says “I’m stubborn and will believe what I want anyway” to save your fingers the trouble
It was 100% good for NY. I’ve already stated the reasons why. They would have had every tax benefit in the world, which costs the state and city down the line. You can’t have a surge like that in population and not have the source contribute to the infrastructure to maintain it.
On tHe other issue, Employers who are posting signs like that are not paying their employees low wages and zero benefits – and they are still doing it after the expiration of the cares act.
It’s a much stronger economy to make employers have to compete for employees than make employees have to compete for few jobs. It’s much more likely to lead to a strong middle class rather than the other way around.
I sometimes think you guys just lack vision. Low wages and no benefits is not really sustainable for the country as a whole of so many people do it.
You’re just gaslighting and trying to validate the worst presidency in American history and done in less than a year
We can all see what’s going on in this country, some just choose to make excuses
Shocking really that you would be one of them with your people having lived thru this for decades
The money we gave people, was minuscule compared to most of the world, and it would not have been enough to be a susbstitite for employment
————————————-
My brother-in-law and his husband made 4400 dollars a month for a whole year on COVID unemployment. That is not minuscule, IMO. FL was the earliest to open up and try to get people back to work. They didn’t have to. The 4400 was plenty to cover a place to stay and pay for all the meth they were shooting up. It even gave them enough money to allow them to also buy heroin every week to shoot up with their meth at the same time.
They had every bit of motivation not to work.
Over 50,000 dollars for a whole year for one couple is not minuscule. Escambia County, being one of the poorest in FL, $50,000 a household would keep about 50% or more of the population here from working.
The cares act provided $600 per week so that adds up and there’s a reason for that number bc that’s usually what it takes a couple to survive
Are they shooting up meth at work now? It doesn’t sound like motivation to work was the issue if they are shooting up meth
Are they still unemployed?
She-it. Thta wasn’t the news I was expecting today. Just when you think your tackle has your back, life comes at you fast on the blind side. Awful news on Stanger’s predicament, but thank goodness he’s slowly recovering. I expect that will be a long road and involve many small steps, but hopefully he’s in good medical hands.
Never had the pleasure of Stanger’s company, but I always think you can get the measure of a man from the way he comports himself and Stanger is a class act with a noble bearing. I’m just grateful the news wasn’t worse and thankful that I still might get to share a pint with him one day if the stars align. Speaking of class, Fields replacing the bye-babe oozed it. Tip of the cap Mike E!
He’s actually doing much better the las couple of days than he was a week ago and we are all happy about that
Thanks UK, Stanger is nothing but class. He’s as good as they come. Thank God he’s getting better now. The Bi-Week Bi-Babe will arrive soon, but until then, Stanger deserves his time because he’s a great guy.

November 2021 statement from the bureau of labor statistics.
Piggy – Couldn’t disagree more. Lack of a workforce also causes inflation. So the money you make goes out much faster. Try going to the Supermarket and getting out buying a few things w/o dropping at least $100. Less truck drivers, less supply = higher inflation. It’s not about paying unskilled workers more, why should anyone pay them more? Let them learn a trade, trade schools are inexpensive and then they can make real money. Learn to be an auto mechanic, a plumber, electrician, whatever. Why should a salesperson with no experience be paid like someone with a trade? Makes no sense
Mike, if the unemployment level is low right now, there is not a lack of workforce

but the unemployment rate is at a 52 year low, thanks Biden
____________
It was at 3.5% in Jan of 2020, so another lie.
Correct. And that’s what I’m getting at. It’s just employers that fired people bc of covid. Unemployment has been pretty low during trump and actually Obama too
It spiked bc of covid
It’s not that Piggy. The last place and the current place that I currently work in both were able to retain their staff due to the PPP. Everyone got paid so everyone stayed. It was just impossible to hire new people because of what they were collecting from the government. I can’t believe you’re a Democrat and want small businesses to fail. What do you think happens when you start paying everyone $20 per hour? I’ll tell you! You won’t be able to retain the people you were paying $15-20 per hour because they will feel slighted. You won’t be able to afford enough staff to run the office the way it should be so wait times for goods and services will go up and the quality of work will go down. You read it here first!
The way ppp works is , if you retained the same number of employees, your loan turns into a grant.
The difference between $15 and $20 an hour breaking small business is way to low a threshold. Thats $200 in a 40 hour week. And as an employer, salaries come out of your gross revenue on your taxes, so the actual value is closer to somewhere between $100-150 a week bc you save money on the back end on taxes. So apply those numbers to small businesses and realize how many small businesses would fail if they are operating on those sort of margins – higher wages aren’t going to hurt many same businesses, if they were, those businesses are operating on very thin margins
Along those lines, you know what would be be a windfall for small business – single payer healthcare would be. Relieving employers of the obligation to carry healthcare saves employers a ton of money much more than the wages you are referring to. For a couple of employees, a business can spend 1500 or more a month in insurance. Which party is opposed to that even though it helps small business?
And do you not see how allowing a business like Amazon and give them a pass on taxes in nyc, would have hurt every local business in nyc? Now they have less costs than every other business in nyc. It’s gives a giant corporation an advantage in the market and will shut down small business who can’t compete
You are picking and closing what helps and hurts small business. Wages is the least of your concerns.

First – I think it’s time to retire the word gaslighting from your lexicon. You just don’t throw it out there when you disagree with people. I didn’t even mention tHe presidency, I was specifically referring to the idea that federal unemployment benefits being decreased was related to the low unemployment level. You are painting it with way to broad a brush – I am not so sure that this particularly issue is related to who the president is, and I said so in my earlier post if you read it carefully instead of generalizing.
Second you don’t get permission to refer to “my people’ and have a reasonable conversation with me. You don’t get to use my culture against me in any setting. I will politely say – “don’t do that” bc I don’t think you had malicious intent, but I do not want to have a conversation with you about what you think I should believe bc of who I am. And you wouldn’t want to either.
The local Miami coverage is Omar, Armando, Hyde and the like. LOL no wonder why we get better Phins info in New York

I miss Darlington.
Thanks for mic’d up video in the midst of this facebook political argument Kong!
lol
You have to recall that both Trump and Biden approved the unemployment compensation at the levels discussed because they wanted to incentivize people to stay home so as to encourage social distancing and slow the spread of the disease. The funding lasting longer than hoped for a variety of reasons but primarily because the disease is persistent.
Yes, but the length of time it was paid was solely in the hands of the Biden administration. I was all for it for a time, Biden just allowed it stay too long, that’s the issue.
Because it was designed to slow the spread of the disease and the disease persisted
I also believe if Trump or any Republican won the election it wouldn’t have been any different
Are they shooting up meth at work now? It doesn’t sound like motivation to work was the issue if they are shooting up meth
Are they still unemployed?
——————————————————–
After the money stopped, it became a problem. Neither wanted to work cause they both got badly addicted. Well, the brother-in-law has always been an addict. He just turned his husband into one. They split up. The husband (29 y.o.) left and went back to Louisville to live with mommy 5 months ago. Still hasn’t decided to get a job yet.
My brother-in-law is so fucked up. He was bouncing around here for a couple months then went to CARMAX and got a solo test drive on a car. The dumbass took it on a test drive, kept going and never came back. He got arrested a week later 4 hours away north of Birmingham for drug possession and retail theft with a hold for FL for vehicle theft. Stayed in jail in Birmingham for a month then they filed No Pros on his charges there just to get rid of him (per his PD) since he had the warrant for FL. He spent 2 months in jail here then got lucky and got 2 years of nonreporting Administrative Probation. He just has to pay court costs, fines, and extradition costs before the probation is over.
Wanted him out of our town so I got him into a halfway house in San Antonio where he didn’t have to pay anything for the first 2 weeks. Wife bought him a bus ticket. The second day there the halfway house got him a job at a UPS warehouse, but he left after the second day and hit the streets instead. Didn’t hear from him for two weeks until he called from the Bexar County Jail. He is in there now for meth and retail theft where he will most likely spend the holidays.
Wife will put a little money on the phones for him and he can only call her # with it. We don’t put money on his commissary because he uses that to buy drugs that make it into jail.
And no, I don’t know how many Twinkies it takes to buy meth or H in jail. lol
I haven’t let his probation here know. Not sure if I will or not. Really don’t want him extradited back here again.
Also, I guess you are right. He had no motivation to work regardless.
Well I am sorry, I don’t want to make this personal with anyone, so sorry to pry
But that is my point about motivation
There are people in America that were nit going to work regardless. The cares act is specially designed to deal with an immediate problem. The fact that politicians disagree on when it should end is perfectly reasonable.
I just don’t ThInk it should we should cite tHat as a reason for the current unemployment rate
Oh, no worries, Piggy! No blood relation there. I don’t mind talking about his dumbass at all. LOL
I’m sure the first thing stranger did was log in to read the goings on here after his heart attack. So, best of luck to you, stranger! My thoughts are with you.
I don’t think reading this blog is good for anyone’s heart. lol Even when we’re winning! LOL
Piggy – OK, so add up all that money per person and what do you think happens to a small business employer who has 30 people on staff? Say you have 15 people at about $18 per hour. If you hire 3 new people at $20 per hour, you now have to give the people who were making $18 around $25 or they will just quit on you. All that starts adding up. Now, as far as the healthcare costs, it’s not as expensive with young people, it’s much more expensive with older employees. Think about it, these minimum wage jobs were never expected to carry and support a family. I think that’s where the disconnect is. If you’re working in a supermarket making $15 per hour, don’t start a family. Go to school, and learn a trade or skill that CAN support a family. Don’t stay at the supermarket and expect other people to pay for your family. Sorry, I don’t support that.
If it’s 10 employees is still no more than $1500 a week
a business that’s 10 employees can do their own cost benefit analysis, but it’s certainly not crippling across the board when they are already spending $6000 a week before the increase from $15 to $20 hours a week
If we are talking numbers like 50+ employees – that’s not small business anymore.
The reality is a lot of the people fighting those kind of wage increases are large conglomerates
As far as healthcare, it’s not expensive at all of its not the employers burden to pay for it – that’s unequivocally a business stimulus to very small business. You are just not answering that undeniably fact by throwing in something about age.
The different between a single payer system and having what we currently have. Is in a single payer system, the small businesses overhead for health insurance is $0 as opposed to thousands of dollars or even tens of thousands of dollars each month
If employers don’t have to pay for healthcare, it saves them money across the board for employers which would clearly benefit small business
If you have a single payer system, that’s better for small business that clinging to the belief that an increase in wages hurts small business – and we know how republicans feel about programs like The ACA and Medicare for all.
But it’s not even in same stratosphere in terms of overhead for a small business. Don’t worry you can agree with me on this one…lol
You won’t ever hear Bernie Sanders or AOC talk about single payer being a benefit to business bc it’s cuts against their message in many ways. When it comes down to it, I am talking about single payer healthcare the same way Reagan republicans talk about trickle down economy, it’s not exactly s socialist
Message if it’s stimulates business by freeing up money
Piggy, not picking and choosing what helps small businesses. Two totally different discussions. AOC doesn’t give a fuck about small business either, she just doesn’t want low paying unskilled jobs and lots of ’em. So she chose to push back against Amazon and won. The people in the area that were hoping for jobs lost.
Mike I literally live in that area and no one here was hoping that Amazon came here
Yeah, people don’t want a huge packaging plant in their backyard, that’s a different reason altogether. I’m talking about people who need jobs. I’m sure your neighborhood is better than the ones where the people live who needs jobs. Am I wrong?
Mike
All the jobs from Amazon or google or a company like that basically go to people from outside of the community and then they move there
Amazon was supposed to be in Long Island city queens – it’s a wealthy middle class neighborhood than us kind of went through some changes in the last decade or so
There’s a bunch of new construction of large buildings and that construction is stimulated by tax abatements for those developers
The neighborhood is actually a quick subway ride away from Manhattan (I think I’ve sent you pics of the view from my apartment before)
It’s basically a surge of population to an area that’s had a surge bc of tax abatements, and the new surge also gets tax abatements, and that increases the demand on the local infrastructure without brining in tax revenue to sustain it
It’s a nice neighborhood now. It will be a nice neighborhood 10 years from now bc we kept Amazon out
And that’s the thing about Corp welfare or giving businesses like Amazon big breaks to set up shop – it’s cyclical, they move and then what….
The area sustains itself without Amazon, actually more than sustains itself
“Creating jobs” is more always what it’s cracked up to be. If you are doing that and not getting a return back into the community, it’s usually leads to deterioration of neighborhood
Damn, RIP Michael Nesmith of the Monkees
Ken – Not sure I follow that. How is paying extra money for unemployment stopping the disease? That seems like a huge stretch to me. Heck, seems like most of the people I know don’t even have to go into their office anymore.
It was designed to give people an incentive to stay home as opposed to go to their places of employment where it is harder to maintain social distancing and thus more likely to spread the disease.
Meh, that’s so debatable. So then because there only 2 cashiers, you have clumps of people waiting on lines, big groups that can spread the disease just as well because 5 other cashiers are home collecting mucho dinero. Don’t see that how solves anything frankly. I think it’s a fallacy altogether. Every action has a reaction. Less minimum wage workers doesn’t make the country safer and spread the disease less. Those are the people collecting the checks because people who make more money like $60K or more (just an approximation!) were still at work because even the double checks didn’t cut it for them.
It is really not a debate. The government both Trump and Biden wanted non essential employees to stay home.
Ken I agree
Both Trump and Biden supported
The legit debate is how long it should have lasted
And republicans are now championing that as if they never wanted it , but in 2020, there was no argument that we needed it
They wanted to stimulate the economy, keep it going. It wasn’t solely to have people stay home, specially since I already explained that so many people are able to do their work from home now, at least for a good measure of the time. Of course retail workers can’t, but if you can’t find people to work then retailers will lose their businesses too, so it’s a double edged sword. The owner of my store is a staunch Democrat, left to far left but he was not happy about those extra checks because of the impact on finding employees to work. Again, it was the length of time that was the issue. It looks like for all the world that COVID isn’t going anywhere so it didn’t help. Proof is in the pudding sir. We’ll be getting vaccines every 6 moths for years to come.
^ months. LOL
It was not definitely not designed to stimulate the economy as it was well acknowledged that the economy was going to have slow down in order to effectuate a voluntary shutdown. It was designed to be temporary relief for those people who were being asked to stay home and for the businesses affected with hope in doing you would slow the spread of the disease
And slowing the spread by staying home didn’t work Ken
You said it temp relief
What do you not understand about paying people to stay home causes inflation, and fucks up the economy
The radical part of the party is hijacking the country, to bring socialism here
How do you start that? By creating a pandemic
How do you fuck up the economy? Pay people to not work
What happens after the economy collapses? The Knights in shining armor come in and save the day by promising free shit
What happens a few years later? We become just like Venezuela
Sure this thinking is on the extreme, but why would you take the chance to let them do anything remotely close to this?
Thanks Wyo!!! Great reminder for me to STFU about politics. Appreciate it brother!!
You definitely still have more energy than I do, or probably ever will again! 😉
LOL, or maybe I just have a tougher time biting my tongue than you do!
If I thought it would make a difference I might try
Anyone here think Jaylen Waddle is likely to be an ALL Time Dolphins WR, joining the likes of the Marks Bros?
Easy now!
He’s having a great start to his career!
But lets leave off forging his Canton bus for a few years. 😉
bust that is
Great write, Mike! Go Stanger!!!!
I went to lunch today and decided to go to the Mellow Mushroom, a local pizza place down town. I haven’t gone in a few months because they were doing road work between my office and the place so it was a pain to get there.
I parked in the back an thought wow, I got lucky there are tons of spots left. Short story, the place had to close down.
They made it all the way through covid and all the restrictions, etc and survived. I saw the manager while I was walking away and asked him what happened. He said he had to close because he could not get enough employees to work to keep the damn doors open. He tried offering $20-25 per hour and still couldn’t get people to come to work.
Florida stopped the Feds from paying our employees months ago. (They just refused to distribute it) thinking that it would force workers to go back to work. For the most part it hasn’t happened yet. Everyone I talk to needs more workers and can’t find them. They hire and train new employees and within weeks those new employees quit.
In my industry, I cannot find enough people to do the work I have contracted. My sub-contractors are dictating to ME when and if they will show up. They all can’t get apprentices to start learning the trades and can’t replace the older workers who are retiring or moving to other jobs. I work nation wide so I know it’s not just a Florida problem. We can’t get people. Everyone wants to design web-sites or be hedge fund managers. no-one wants to work anymore.
If you go through the apprenticeship and get your HVAC license, open your own business and hire a couple of employees you can take home more than some surgeons do! Same with Plumbing and electrical. PLUS NO STUDENT LOANS!
It’s just not what millennials and Gen X kids want to do.
You know what, there’s something to that, but don’t think for a second that government handouts don’t empower them and get them into that mode in the first place. They see how to cheat the system. It’s not great.
AND WHERE THE HELL HAVE ALL THE TRUCK DRIVERS GONE!?!?!
The trades have been taking it in the shorts for around 40 years now.
Everyone get’s told your not shit without a college degree!
LOL @ Worst presidency every. You are one term to late for that!
Wyo – Makes no difference at all, just nice to vent sometimes.
Mike, there is a certain segment of society (not necessarily right or left but on both sides) that will game a system for their private benefit whenever they can. I used to get in huge fights with my ex because one of her friends figure out that if she remained unmarried until after her baby was born she could basically have the government pay for everything. She then kept teaching her other friends the game that her first girlfriend used so that they could get free medical care Prenatal, delivery and after the birth on the state / feds. 5 of her girlfriends had babies and none of them got married until after the babies came so the state would pay. (combined the mothers and fathers made more than I did at the time) but because they claimed to be single mothers they got away with it. POS MFS!
Just like Tom Brady taking the PPP “grant” That fucker didn’t need it!!
Quite true, I also know some folks who play that game well.
Wyoming, I hadn’t heard about those issues in CA. Thanks for posting. One has to wonder though, just HOW MANY 18-21 truckers their actually were that it makes that big an impact. Besides every state does their own licensing and (this is just a guess) most long haul truckers do not reside in CA, but rather drive there, drop off and pick up. MUCH is also loaded on trains and then transferred and trucked locally.
We have a critical shortage of truckers here in FL where did they all go the past two years?
Independent operators can’t afford new trucks!
Maybe diesel is too expensive for long hauls for independents these days?
I don’t think we are having any issues with the East Texas ports?
Ah, I just re-read the whole article. CA is blocking ANYONE from coming into the state with older trucks.
And if anyone wants to argue that some P’sOS didn’t decide to feed off the teat I call BS. I almost got in a fist fight with a 20 something at the bar back in March because he was bragging about making more on unemployment than he did at the job he got fired from and was laughing about it. Then trying to get folks to help him out by buying him a drink. I wound up chasing him off before he got his ass kicked but he was first person evidence to me that there were fuckers out there doing it.
When I went to school there were vocational programs “for the losers” who weren’t doing well enough in grades to be on a college track. I think States / the Fed should be pushing for more of these programs so that kids come out of school prepared to start making a living wage.
Toooooooo many kids get student loans and come out of college with a worthless “education” with 10’s of thousand in debt and still have to get retail / customer service jobs. Most of my friends who have degrees don’t even work in the field they studied in college! (Lawyers and Doctors the exception)
I was the looser in Metal Shop welding!
One of my son’s friends joined the Electrician apprenticeship after high school. we were laughing the other day that now he’s a journeyman making almost as much as I do, and some of the others just graduated college and are delivering pizza’s
It took my son a year and a half to find a Chemical engineering job.
But he did teach at one of the local high schools while looking!
I got my Journeyman’s and at 22 was making more that the teachers and professors at the community college. Plus it was a gateway for me into construction management where I make more now than many “degreed” professionals.
If there is such a shortage of trucks in CA, why is it everyday on my way home from work I am surrounded by big rigs going 45 the entire way?! 🤣
45? That is speeding compared to the gridlock in Connecticut
lol, if my speed drops below 70 I’m annoyed.
I guess the backlash / heat caught up to him! LOL Punk!
All I have to say to that is, it’s pretty funny when you bash a guy that just beat you fairly easily. What does that say about you? lol
RIGHT!? If it’s not big deal and only 2 yard passes. STOP THEM!
Kind of like NE the other night when they ran over Buff again and again…..If you don’t like it. MAKE them stop!
Rock,
Good insight as to the issues in the job market. I work for a global paper converting/manufacturing corporation. Globally we are having issues with transportation/trucking. This all started post COVID. It is almost as if drivers were laid off during the height of the pandemic last year and are not returning to that vocation.
We are also having trouble replacing retirees in the trades. It is sad. Kids do not want to be mechanics, electricians or truck drivers, they want tech jobs IMO.
To expand on Rock’s comments, here’s a something I came across the other day on where have all the carpenters gone? I think he gives a pretty good assessment of the situation. Why was I on his channel learning how to do some specific carpentry things? Because it’s pretty much impossible to find a good, competent carpenter to do anything. I mean just find one, let alone be able to hire them. Unless you are doing a major reno, you get ghosted or tossed a truly ridiculous quote because you aren’t worth their time if it isn’t a big job or you’re not swimming in a vault of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck. That’s fair (supply-demand) and I get it, but it’s going to become more and more difficult to get things done as we all move into the future because of this. I don’t mind doing it myself beyond structural load bearing stuff, but the problem is time (I work 12+ hour days myself).
I have a network of retired friends who were electricians, mechanics, carpenters, etc. that are always looking for some work to stay busy, otherwise you are exactly right, it is almost impossible to find one.
Uh oh
Time for the committee to step up.
A lot of the trucking issues are also coming from the insurance side as well. Generally no insurance company will cover local drivers/deliveries. The new drivers have to go OTR to get exp.. It makes no sense…. so you send a new driver over the road just to end up in someone else’s local town. SMH This new generation doesn’t want to commit to OTR. They would rather make tik tok videos at mommy and daddy’s home
Well the blog took an interesting turn today
Let’s not forget it’s Friday Night Music
And we have a theme tonight – your music today must be a message to Stanger
Wyo – You’re the winner in metal shop welding! I think it’s what so many people should be doing. Like Rock said, and I said earlier, why accumulate so much debt from college tuition, go to trade school and become a plumber, electrician, auto mechanic etc. There’s a shortage of auto mechanics for sure, so getting a job in that field at a high salary is an easy one.
These kids don’t want to get dirty, work in the hot and cold!
They squeal like a flying pig when you tell them they can’t have their phone at work!
I squeal just from the cold
Too soon?
No worries with Gaskin – He has a whole week and change before he plays. He just needs 3 straight days of negative tests.
I know Stanger digs The Clash. I’m glad he chose the first one. 🙂
some great understanding of the RPO and what the OC’s are trying to do.
This guy says Tua stretches the field horizontally, The OL looks solid, a complex route tree and Tua does a good job in this offense.
They’re just getting started with the modern RPO ala stretch defenses horizontally to set up the run and vertical passing game.
It’s very similar to what Bill Walsh did back in 1968 with the Bengals under Paul Brown within a more traditional pro set offense. He created what is known as the “West Coast Offense”. They stretched defenses beyond the hash marks short and medium passing game as opposed to just pounding the ball on the ground and setting up some deep throws. It’s basically the same thing as the RPO other than shotgun and 11 personnel is more prominent today.
Regardless of what system you run, you have to block it first. The “Blind Side” came from both Bill Walsh and Joe Gibbs saying if we can’t block #56 LT or other players who could do similar things, we can’t run our offense. That’s when the Left Tackle position became a prominent position.
Systems and play calls can be called out, but at the end of the day it’s always about executing it. That’s up to the players for the most part.

That’s from the other trial isn’t it?????
Yep, the one getting no media attention at all.
That’s weird it’s not letting me post links again.
I post it it doesn’t show up, I go to post it again and I get a message saying I’ve already posted it I close the browser and come back and it’s still not posted so I must be in moderation or something
Not in moderation. I’ll take a look. If I find them, they’ll just pop up when you posted them.
That’s been happening time to time for years. It’s a WordPress issue, not moderators.
Trying this again
Temp glitch in the matrix
This is what Grier has done well. That along with accumulating drafts picks. For me his biggest mistake was going too young too quick specifically on the OL. All teams miss on some draft picks and FAs along the way, but he’s also brought in some very good players. It’s time for a team to be honed, not a constant roster turnover. Let’s see how this gets handled in 2022.
Now they both appear sombitch
It went to spam. Not sure how or why that happens sometimes
I like glitch in the matrix better lol
Gotta theme WORKING here
Seems the spam folder is getting more Friday night tunes. It’s up to you guys now. ✌️
I love Bob Ross and Stanger could use some relaxing painting music? My dad called my one of his little happy accidents which fits as well.
What does it take to get a football conversation going? LOL
WY has to post more pics of cheerleaders
It’s a strange dynamic we have as fans. When we’re playing poorly we post about it non-stop. When we’re on a winning streak even though the 1-7 start really hurt us, we’re willing to talk about anything other than that. There is a lot of good stuff going on with this team to build on even though playoffs are not very likely though still possible.
I get that some others post some good football stuff. But it gets squashed by so many other topics. At this time anything related to Stanger’s well being is an absolute. But I’d rather talk about the RPO than the current state of the workforce in America and globally. None of us will change any of that here. At least we have a passion for football and the Dolphins.
The bye week shouldn’t hurt the winning streak on its own. I’m sure lots of players could use some healing time with bumps and bruises. The coaches get a week to evaluate. The challenge is don’t lose focus. The next game is the one we need to win. The same every week.
Some one edited Slow Simms comments about Tua
love it, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!
HELL YEAH!!!
Here Tim
He did seem to knock this one out of the park!
LOL
I remember Giants fans and media wanting Phil Simms gone in 84/85 his 6th and 7th seasons because he couldn’t get him over the hump. Not taking in that the entire team wasn’t ready yet. Tua has basically dealt with this from the time he put the uniform on for the first time. He went from Tank for Tua to I’m not so sure about this before he even played a game. He’s played through lots of adversity from the get go and he’s been better than Phil Simms was early on.
Before somebody says we were talking about Chris Simms, I get it. He was a marginal NFL talent. His father ended up being one the better QBs of his era. Phil Simms dealt with the negativity too. Even longer and then he won a championship in 86 and had one of the best Super Bowl performances for a QB in the history of the NFL in his 8th season.
It’s a team game and the 86 Giants defense was one of the best we’ve ever seen. Joe Montana said they were not only talented and fast but they would beat the shit out of you.
JMHMFO
I think Tua will be fine! He’s a winner!
Winners WIN!
As he get’s more experience, he will just get better!
I agree. He and this team are just getting started. But nobody is fucking patient anymore. Tua’s played what, 17 games. Steve Young used to say 40 game starts is when you have to get it or not. In today’s age a QB has what 3 years max to prove themselves and maybe didn’t even play 40 games. Teams fuck up with that thinking. Not that 40 games is a scientific thing. It really is more about snaps and experience and taking the highest level of NFL football all in other than a handfuls of games.
Tua is playing very well when we all know we have other deficiencies on offense. Putting it on him is dumb! This is a new team, not one that has been trying to win for 3 or 4 years.
Sometimes perspective is important. Imagine being the Vikings. They have had top 10 rosters for like a decade or more and they continue to fall short.
Tua and this offense are in their infancy even though the defense is ready. But we’re seeing it evolve. 1-7 hurt us all. Can’t go back. Under Grier and Flores that can’t happen again. I do think both will be back in 2022.
IMHO
The change in personnel and coaching is what causes the slow starts!
Even if we don’t like the 2-OC thing? It would make a slow start next year to change the whole thing!
It’s about progress and if they are progressing yearly and specifically in areas of weakness.
My bad
Happy, happy!!!
Happy y’all got off the political talk from earlier and happy nobody went nuclear on anybody… it was seemingly getting tense (at least from my perspective)… but good job, y’all.
Very unhappy about Demaryius Thomas’ untimely passing and the passing of Michael Nesmith of The Monkees.
Optimistic about Stanger’s recovery and the future of our Phins.
#Stanger
It was never tense from my end. I don’t get emotionally involved in these discussions. On the other hand, I bought a nice package of thick cut smoked bacon at the Supermarket, so there’s that. lol
LOL
The passing of Demaryius Thomas is really sad. 33 years old. He was a good player. RIP DT,
Yeah, man. And by all accounts, Demaryius was even better at being a human being than he was a football player… and that’s saying a LOT.
RIP, DT
Good tribute to Demaryius Thomas, IMO…
Kong, Tua is the least of our problems. He’ll get the ball to the right guy when it’s possible. 🙂
I hear ya, Tim. Do you want me to let D know? LOL
You can if that’s important to ya. 😉
Does anyone ever wonder how difficult it must be to run an offense especially if you’re a 2nd year QB playing with 4 different Centers? Are any of them a guy you can point to and say yeah, he’s the guy? There is no Dwight Stephenson here. Not even a Tim Ruddy.
No knock on Michael Deiter but he hasn’t proven a thing when he’s healthy enough to play. His body of work is minimal. To me C and RT needs to be upgraded. Then build around that.
Tim, so do you think we need to leave Eich at LT and pass on Armstead and Orlando Brown? Then go after a f/a RT?
I know Baltimore drafted Orlando Brown, Jr. and played him at RT. Brown wanted to play LT and get paid LT money so Balt traded him to KC. Do we go after him and put him at RT and pay him LT money? Would Brown be willing to do that?
Hunt and Brown on the right side would be SOLID!
Mike E,
I like the political talk and we think very much alike. I like when Piggy and Ken (others as well) get into it with a different perspective but we’re all long-time posters and sometimes you gotta talk about what’s going on outside of football. I also think we are in bad shape and no matter how much Jim Kramer and others want to hide the highest inflation since ’82, our economy is in bad shape. I work healthcare and it’s terrible. I have friends in trucking, it’s terrible. I can easily see the issues in fast food. They weren’t here before Covid and Covid isn’t the reason they are lingering. It’s bad policy and free money from both Trump and Biden. Just hate that I missed the discussion yesterday but maybe next time.
These are the current f/a RT’s. Don’t know much about any of them except Trenton Brown of the pats who has been solid and Ifedi who has never lived up to his 1st round draft status and don’t think he was ever ranked higher than 50th for OT’s.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/right-tackle//
Spotrac needs to get their shit together. You look up 2022 f/a RT and LT and they don’t list Orlando Brown, Jr. but, if you look up his contract, it shows he is an UFA in 2022.
Tim,
I don’t think there’s much to discuss football-wise during a late season off-week. Some of the discussions have been frankly boring and pedantic. I don’t personally enjoy rehashing such topics like Tua’s arm constantly. Tua is the topic 90% of the time. Or bad OL, free handout WRs, etc. We’ve went back and forth for months on the same topics. Tua, bad OL, always injured WRs, will we keep Gesicki, does 2 OC system work, defense finally playing well, can we win 9 straight? Outside of 1-2 people, does anyone here disparage Tua? We all see him doing solid work with a pathetic OL. It’s been discussed all season how bad they are and while it’s a young group, I don’t think that explains how bad Jackson is. He is just a terrible player, and the others aren’t much better. Can they improve? No one knows yet. Defense is good but we’ve played some awful teams lately. Are we much better or is the competition much worse? Can’t say until we play the Titans and NE as our last 2 games.
We probably aren’t getting in the playoffs due to a terrible start to the season we all had to endure, but should we be confident in our leadership? Grier has been a pretty good drafter but his FA pickups don’t provide the value needed. We talk about a young OL but they dumped the vet OG and OC. Tua needs help, but we’ve put most of our high dollar FA effort on D and not O. Why do that with a young QB? Will Flores be on OC group #4? Can he find better coaches? Does Grier know what a good OL player looks like? Can they make that next step?
Most of the real questions at this point is going to be leadership and can they get it together in Year 4. Not a lot of coaches get that much leeway so will they use it to best benefit? No one knows the answers yet and the realistic thought is that we are waiting for next year to hopefully make a splash. Just my thoughts of why we aren’t talking football all the time. I look at Arizona and find the patience argument to be unfounded. Or Cincinatti and Buffalo. You don’t actually need 4+ years to be really good. Good organizations can do it earlier so why not expect excellence? We’ve seen incompetence for 20 so it would be nice to finally remember playoff regularity.
I agree with you. I had bigger hopes for this season. The biggest mistake in the offseason was trading Flowers back to WFT for peanuts and letting Karras go back to the Pats. Flowers made Jackson much better the last half of last season.
Flowers struggled to be an NFL Tackle and was moved to LG where he has been a stud. If they think they can do that with Jackson, they are mistaken.
I didn’t see the discussion yesterday as political. There were definitely some viewpoints that were rooted in political rhetoric, but as time went on, those biases went out the window and a good discussion was held.
There were a lot of things left out though and people definitely didn’t read the link I posted about how the unemployment rate was calculated.
I think more discussion needs to be held in this country about not demanding children go to college or at least directly out of high school. Both of my children are under 13 and both of them know they will not be expected to go to college. However, they do know they will still study and get good grades as if they were and we will still save money as if they are. If they decide not to go, they’ll at least have money to invest in their future with.

That’s just human nature with anything Tim. It’s the reason why 98% of the news revolves around negative stories. People in general like to complain.
I thought yesterday discussion was healthy and respectful. I hope all our conversations football and non-football can be like that
