Divisional rival game. Throw out the team records, throw out the last meeting between these two teams and also, throw away all the momentum of the 5 game winning streak. All that is in the past. What remains in front of the Miami Dolphins is a team that knows them backwards and forwards, there are no surprises, no secrets. Unfortunately for the Miami Dolphins, the one thing that the win streak afforded them was consistency. That went out the window when the entire Dolphins RB room tested positive for COVID. More unfortunately, it wasn’t just the RB room. We have potentially lost our star WR Jaylen Waddle as well as our star S Jevon Holland. Both of these players are huge part of what we do on offense and defense respectively. The pass game went through Waddle and the versatility and effectiveness of Jevon Holland doing everything from blitzing, to coverage, to playing near the LOS as a LB has been so valuable to the Dolphins. There is potentially good news as S Brandon Jones is questionable to return from ankle and elbow injuries Sunday. He’s logged 2 limited practices so it’s possible he can suit up. Jones isn’t Holland, but if I had to pick one of our safeties to replace Holland, it would be Jones.
Back to the consistency thing. We need Deiter in there at C and we need him to play well. We’ve had 3 different centers this season though I believe we’ve seen the last of C Austin Reiter who was waived this week. Greg Mancz who we picked up from the Ravens is IR/DFR which means he’s off the IR and designated for return. He’ll likely be the backup this week to Deiter who is wearing a precautionary walking boot. I’m really hoping Myles Gaskin can play. We know his limitations, as do the Jets, but he gives the offense some consistency which is much needed this week. If Waddle is OUT, and it sure looks that’ll be the case, DeVante Parker who is being rested this week and not practicing will hopefully be wearing his Superman costume under his uniform. The WR corps will be Parker, Wilson, Hollins, Ford and Williams. I would imagine TE Mike Gesicki would be in line for a heavy dose of targets this week although it’s difficult to say that with certainty since his targets have been anything but consistent.
Our defense will have to set the tone, and they have been doing that during the duration of this five game win streak. There won’t be the statue-like Joe Flacco at QB this week, it will be the much more mobile, much less experienced rookie QB Zach Wilson. To be fair, Flacco carved up our defense pretty well but ultimately it was his lack of escapability that did him in. Zach Wilson can move, but pressure will cause errors in judgement and poor throws. We need Emmanuel Ogbah, Jaelan Phillips, Andrew Van Ginkel to keep up their relentless pass rush. All of these guys have been killing it the last few games. If S Jevon Holland is OUT, hopefully Brandon Jones can step in and get the job done.
The Jets will likely get a boost for their run game as rookie RB Michael Carter will be coming off IR this week. Carter has played well this season and has been a definite bright spot in their offense. Bad news for the Jets is WR Elijah Moore is on IR and will not be able to play Sunday. He’s been the bright spot in their passing game which now features Denzel Mims who is desperately trying, along with the Jets to get going. The Jets will rely a lot on Jamison Crowder, Keelan Cole and Braxton Berrios. Tevin Coleman and Ty Johnson have been splitting RB duties but if Michael Carter is able to play, he’s the one to watch out for.
I don’t care what this game looks like on paper. Yes, the Jets are 32nd in points allowed with 397 (30.5 PPG). They are 29th in points scored with 226 (17.4 PPG). The Dolphins have made significant gains in both categories during the 5 game win streak. The Dolphins are now 25th in points scored with 254 (19.5 PPG) and really moved up defensively to 13th with 288 (22.2 PPG). When 2 teams know each other so well, anything can happen, especially after having the win streak snapped by the interruption of the BYE week. What could have been a week to improve our roster by getting healthy has turned out be a disaster with COVID infecting too many important players. It will take a lot for Brian Flores and his staff to stay focused and find a way to overcome the obstacles that have presented themselves this week. Hopefully Flores has this team’s attention and they understand the importance of winning E-V-E-R-Y * S-I-N-G-L-E * G-A-M-E. There are no week’s off, this team must win the rest of their games or the season is done. Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh would love nothing more to end this streak and have the Dolphins join them as another team from the AFC East OUT of the playoffs. This game could be a nail biter, so fasten your seatbelts!!
PS – Some good news most recently from the Stanger camp. Jon has improved since my last update. Things are looking up so all of you BLOG Cardiac Surgeons can rest easy and don’t worry yourselves about transplants and the like. Hopes and prayers to Jon that he continues to improve and get out of the hospital able to resume a normal life.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

This game tonight reminds me off the 2nd half of a Monday Night game against the cheats about 4 years ago, neither team could move the ball
It was a game Drake ran wild in first half
GREAT to hear!
That’s good to to read.
Toto…
Did you see what I did there? 😉
It took me a minute, lol.
^ Good news.
Watching the game tonight and our matchup with the Saints next Monday Night, this is how I view it.
On offense we’re going to have a tough time with their front 7. So I keep it simple/vanilla and run our bread and butter plays. No fancy shit that can go really bad. Then maybe set a few of them up when we have them honed in.
On defense it’s the same game plan against Jackson and the Ravens. Except Hill is more like Tebow – not as fast but a thicker more physical runner and a questionable passer.
I see Baker on Kamara a lot with a Safety here and there. I do not fear their offense much even though Kamara can make some special plays.
Special Teams could play a major role in this game.
Looks like a FG game to me in a low scoring game.
M13, I’m as miffed about our OL and OL coaches as you. I have no answer. All I know it has to get better. I don’t care about the past, we need to fix now and the near future.
^^^
Always a great week when Belichick and Brady lose
Unfortunately I’ll be starting the Saints DEF/ST against our Phins in my first FFL playoff game next week. But I have to. I’m not rooting for them, just playing the numbers game. I expect a low scoring defensive game but who the fuck knows. This year has been crazy. LOL
Tom *Lady, shut out for the first time since when?
2006, against our Phins!!!
That’s the defense we face next. Yikes!
This will be a big challenge for our young Phins.
So long as Jaylen Waddle is back for next week against the Saints, we’re going to beat them.
The SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT TASK RIGHT NOW FOR AN NFL PLAYOFF TEAM IS TO AVOID CATCHING THE VIRUS!!! – – – PERIOD- – – !!!!
——————-
IF a group of “Party Boyz” GETS TOGETHER some place and they all come down with the COVID that team’s season, most likely, is OVER!! The Fins will need ALL HANDS ON DECK if they are to have ANY CHANCE AT THE PLAYOFFS!!
——————-
LET’S SEE WHO REALLY IS COMMITTED TO WINNING?!?!?!!
Saints versus Dolphins, the battle of 500 teams, both are at 7-7
this is a very winnable game for Miami, GO DOLPHINS
Covid has been here so long, its exhausting trying to keep up with it,
when too many could care less if others get sick from their irresponsibility, or not
at this point, its impossible to eliminate covid, because that isnt the common goal of all
its here to stay, and could get much worse
in the book of Revelations, the prophet John said he saw one third of the worlds population die off with diseases and war
that doesnt seem so far fetched now
Anyone notice how bad Ryan Tannehill has been this season w/o Derrick Henry and not having his full complement of receivers and a strong O-line? WOW! He looks a lot more like Miami Tannehill. Not trying to disparage him but the truth is the truth.
agreed, but hopefully he doesnt get his shit together for the Dolphins game
https://miami.cbslocal.com/2021/12/19/isabella-velasquez-miami-dolphins-national-anthem/
but Howard missed a tackle that directly led to a TD
Howard did not have a great game IMO
He had an excellent game
Targeted less than 5 times between both cbs is a heck of stat – the jests were avoiding throwing anywhere near him
I will take one missed tackle for zero completions against
I think my favorite part about yesterday’s win was that Jets fans were able to cheer for their team the entire time until they couldn’t. We gave them hope and then took it away at the last moment.
they are rarely hopeful, more like disgustingly cocky and bellicose ignorant
they can kick a FG when down 31-3 with 2 minutes to go, and start talking major trash, they never shut up even when the team sucks and is several scores behind
jets fans visiting Miami are the least classy in the NFL

“Cheering Guide” for today and next Sunday …. with all the divisional games the next 3 weeks it gets tricky … BUT
Based on 10-7 Dolphins (9 game win streak!) today we are actually helped with
Today:
1. Raiders over Browns … Browns lose and they have no way of passing a 10-7 Dolphins. Raiders would only need to lose 1 of last 3 games to also be out against 10-7 Dolphins.
Thursday:
2. 49ers over Titans … Titans out vs 10-7 Fins IF Indy wins out vs Cards, Raiders, Jags.
Sunday’s Games:
3. Bengals over Ravens … Ravens out vs 10-7 Fins
4. Chiefs over Steelers … Steelers out vs 10-7 Fins
5. Broncos over Raiders … Raiders out vs 10-7 Fins
6. Packers over Browns … IF Clev beats Raiders we need Browns to lose to Steelers or Bengals
7. Bills over Patriots … Patriots out vs 10-7 Fins. Pats win narrows our path dramatically.
All of the Sunday games are within a good betting chance.
The next two weeks we are huge Bronco fans as well since they can’t catch a 10-7 Fins team and they play Raiders and Chargers.
For sure though, since we play Monday, on Sunday we are all HUGE Bills and 49ers fans because Pats and Titans wins closes our window quickly. Titans win means they’d have to lose to Texans in week 18. Indy would have to lose 2 of 3 (Cards, Raiders, Jags)
49ers vs Titans up first with Colts/Cards on Saturday will tell us how to cheer (for or against Colts). Indy needs to win out and have Titans lose 2 (in this case, to 49ers and Dolphins). In terms of ‘odds’ this seems like the most likely scenario.
What remains is the Chargers… it might be too much to ask for and the threads to the 7 games listed don’t exist. In order for Fins to pass them on tie-breaks, they need to lose 2 of 3 to Texans, Broncos, Raiders.
So, IF we get the above 7 games … the Dolphins enter Monday night 90% IN CONTROL of their own destiny (with Indy the only team that could fuck it up by NOT winning out).
So in addition to being Fin fans, we’d also be Bronco and Indy fans the rest of the way. 🙂
Hope this helps.
Thank you Rhino. You and Kong are the masters of playoff scenarios
the simpler way into the playoffs is
miami wins the next 2 and if the cheats lose against the bills, then the winner of the Dolphins / cheats game is IN the playoffs
If Buff then beats Falcons and Jets, and we beat Pats, Bills win division but it doesn’t mean we get a WC spot. There are teams that we lose out on tie breaks (Raiders, Colts, Bengals, ….)
hell, there are 4 to 5 teams that finish ahead of us if they win out.
In order for us to be IN with your scenario is for us to win the division. Since we lost 2x to Bills it requires them losing to Falcons or Jets. yikes.
How to ruin a marriage proposal
https://nypost.com/2021/12/20/dolphins-fan-misses-own-proposal-in-engagement-blunder/
Well that is not off to a good start
He paid thousands of dollars for that Jumbotron proposal only to waste it on overpriced soda
Total costs $3040: $3000 for the wasted proposal, $40 for the overpriced sodas
I admit I didn’t watch the OL closely yesterday
But I thought they played well yesterday
Today, I actually read something positive about Austin Jackson
I saw several occasions where Duke Johnson’s patience helped set up blocks and made the line look better
She said yes though, so I’m sure they can laugh about it later
That is a mistake
LOL, honestly, it kind of makes it a better story that he missed his own wedding proposal.
Me reading any of Kong or Rhino’s posts about playoff scenarios
You can vote on my poll
Mack Hollins
I honestly don’t think he’s underrated but I think he provides great value
Isiah Ford

Just had my first in person appearance in court since March of 2020. I was supposed to start jury selection today but reached an agreement to arbitrate instead. So my motivation for the rest of the year is now zero
Lady Brady having a temper tantrum.

😪
Awesome
He was a horrible person last night
He was yelling at one of the refs after they called a PI in his favor
Love it.
Some of these reporters are harder on Tua than fans are
Was reading an SBNation article Good, Bad and the Ugly (Tua)
Oh no he threw a pick 6
Because of injuries and covid lots of new faces yesterday, I’d think Tua’s timing should be a little off, but instead of the article saying something to that effect its all about the negative
How many pick 6s has Brady thrown, since he threw one the last game of 2019, and again the next week in the playoffs?
Read another article about our D giving up 24 pts, even though 2 ints with no offensive yards produced 10 pts for jets, not bad with Holland out only really giving up 14
We scored 31 pts on O, that’s a pretty good day, sure we gave em 10, but offense was mostly clicking
The media is relentless bc they get clicks from it
Another big man taking it to the house.
O-line coming together.
An update on Stanger:
He is still having some complications. He has fluid in his lungs and is on oxygen but he is not intubated. He is not yet able to communicate but will be starting speech pathology. They are starting to have him sit up in a recliner which makes him more comfortable and helps his breathing and hopefully helping clear his lungs. I will keep posting updates as I learn more
Thanks for the updates Ken
Thanks, Ken.
It’s much appreciated Ken
No shit

It does beg the question why not sooner?
When the report was that they were bringing up Doaks last week, I said he’s probably going to get 120 yds and 2 tds and everyone’s gonna wonder what he’s been doing on the practice squad. It seems my feeling was right, but about the wrong running back.
Keep having those feelings
Some of us looked at Duke’s career stats last week and were like, why isn’t he on the active roster
Just goes to show you how inadequate our FO/coaching staff really are
Now I know what I want for Christmas
And it’s even more fun when he acts professional

I think guys should celebrate, I think they should celebrate one another when they make a play. You should be excited about it. I encourage that, but at the same time, you have 40 seconds to get ready for the next play — Coach on the celebration.

…we ended up kicking (the PAT) with about 2 seconds on the play clock. So, we’ll have a conversation about the length of celebrations.

Malcolm Brown will practice this week and we’ll see how it goes, Coach says
Shocker, Flores wants Wilkins to take it down a notch
It’s official – the worst off-season signing ever
Rather have Isiah Ford on the roster. All he does is show up and catch passes.
Me too
But the vision of speed all over the field never came do be
It’s a fucking finger injury too
I don’t normally criticize an injury – but what a serious puss Fuller is
Bingo. Starting to really like Isiah Ford
Something wrong there between Fuller, McKinney and Watson
Seems those 2 a-holes only wanted to play for us, if Watson did
McKinney didn’t have a choice but Fuller….something is up…what a jerk
You should buy this to ensure they don’t resign him next year.
Confession: I bought this jersey last August…
I knew it!!! Jerk!!!
LOL
Did you know that you can’t buy a Jason Taylor jersey on the dolphins/NFL website? Weird.
Steve,
I also don’t understand our coaching staff. and FO. Personally, I don’t give a shit if Wilkins celebrates as long as he produces. That should be at the bottom of Flores cares right now. I’m sure it is but it didn’t even deserve mention in the weekly chat much less several mentions. He’s given Fuller wide latitude to be a complete waste of space the entire year.
9’ers friends I know say that Shannahan is very tough on rookies. He has bias towards vets. I wonder if Flores is too biased towards some players. Fuller is garbage. Wilson has been terrible the whole time. Hurns and Little were wastes.
For me, availability is everything and I would have dumped all the previously mentioned players before this year even started. And I would have been right to do so. Flores kept these turds too long and needs to focus on results…from the dudes who actually show up every week.
I don’t know what to say about Fuller. I know it’s a broken finger and lots of players play with it. But he is a WR and that could impact his ability to catch. The problem is that he has been injury prone his whole career and he has done nothing to shake that label
If ogbah keeps batting them up, someone on our d is gonna catch one.
🤣
Hollins was open for a TD but they had a free rusher so Tua had to throw it out the back.
Seller has a very high pff rating
Hate autocorrect
Especially as a run defender
GREAT to see and hear!
I don’t believe it’s his finger that’s holding Fuller back. Y’all may recall he had some kind of (mental?) issue going on earlier in the season where he missed time.
Regardless and needless to say, he’s been a total waste of $10M.
Bottom line is we just don’t know with him and we are all speculating. If he has had a clean injury history we would probably think nothing of it but because this is a yearly occurrence you start thinking there is something wrong with him in general
Jackson and hunt, being converted tackles , are both mobile at the OG spot, and it is beginning to show in our running game second level blocks.
Phelon, I went in the Dolphins store at Hard Rock Stadium day before the game. Tired of buying jerseys on current players only for them to leave. I was going to get a # 13, 54 or 99. They had no #99 JT jerseys in there either. I ended up getting a #13 white throwback.
Found it odd no #99 when I was in there.
I’ve looked the last two games. No 99. They have it online at the NFL shop.
It sounds like with Waddle, Lindsay and Holland all off the Covid list we will be getting healthy at the right time. Cross our fingers

Miami looks like more of a pretender than contender. Credit the Dolphins for rallying from two double-digit deficits against a divisional opponent. Those games can be extra-competitive, even when they involve terrible teams (see: the 2021 Jets). Miami’s sixth consecutive win places it firmly inside the playoff bubble. But winning so ugly at home while coming off a bye and against a 3-11 team conjures doubt more than confidence. The truth is the Dolphins have been feasting on losing teams and their offense is still a liability. This was only the second time all season that Miami allowed 17 points and won, with the other victory also coming against New York. Tua Tagovailoa hurt his team more than he helped it Sunday, throwing a pair of interceptions (including a pick-six that tied the game midway through the fourth) and narrowly avoiding a couple more. Throwing downfield is barely an option (Tagovailoa went 4 of 11 for 85 yards with an INT on passes of 10-plus air yards, per Next Gen Stats). The Dolphins’ remaining slate (Saints, Titans, Patriots) suggests their streak could continue, but how they’re winning doesn’t appear sustainable.
Next Gen stat of the game: Tua Tagovailoa went 12 of 15 for 111 yards, 2 TDs and an INT on passes of fewer than 10 air yards.
NFL Research: Duke Johnson recorded 100+ rushing yards for the first time in his career.
You can only win the games on your schedule and there is no such thing as style points.
It’s understandable that we aren’t getting a lot of respect yet. We’ve had a bunch of home games and beat a bunch of bad teams along with one good team in this run.
Beat the Saints in Nawlins, and it’ll be because their offense/ QB situation is a mess.
Beat the Titans in Tennessee and it’ll be because they don’t have Henry.
Beat the Pets in Miami to complete a playoff run nobody thought would happen and we’ll straight up take what so few are willing to give us.
Ken, thanks for the update on Stanger.
Ken, thanks for the updates….
Tough times for Stangerx….be strong dude!
The bye week created first half rust, an extra week of healing, and hopefully recovery from COVID.
And, we have win in our sails to Monday.
Saints know how to beat Brady. So, do Dolphins and Flores.
We don’t have an identity on O yet. Do the Saints know how to beat us? Do we know who we are on O?
Our D seems to be balling….setbacks are not allowed at this time of year….lol. And, one of our DL has a TD reception. Now that’s fun!
He loves the game
This is so bad
I remember watching that game
I do too. It was actually on in Wisconsin
Ken, thanks for the update on Stanger, man. My continued prayers and thoughts go out to him.
Anyone notice there’s a lot of O holding called on the very next play after a questionable PI?
Not against teams like the cheats and Dallas, but most other teams
It just happened again in Brown’s vs Raiders game
I forgot
Are we rooting for the raiders?
Where is my chart?
Only if they play as part of a Monday double header because of COVID….. so I guess the answer is yes. Weird.
We want the Raidahs
They beat us but I guess it’s because we don’t want the Browns at 8-6.
Bookman, Raidahs and Browns are on now
I know, that was what my joke implied: they are part of a Monday Night DH of games, that one now, then the regular game on ESPN after.
We assumed you were too busy listening to the Grease soundtrack
I love Bacon
And bacon “grease”
And by the way, everyone knows the Monday nights are Manilow nights
Nothing like the thought of Mondays, Barry Manilow and bacon to make me 🤮🤮🤮
Let’s go Raiders
Slow down with this “let’s go” stuff!
I think we can say “I hope you do better than the other team” under these circumstances
LOL, I didn’t use any exclamatory punctuation, so just imagine my sentence spoken like this
I happen to be a Barry Manilow fan. As a kid “Mandy” was one of my favorite songs.
I watched this the night it aired.
My wife loves Manilow as well, but I don’t gold it against either of you.
Does Barry Manilow know you raid his wardrobe?
How would he know that? LOL
LOL
Personally I prefer Tom Jones
Over Manilow … Judaa Priest, Aerosmith, Journey are more my go tos
I like him too. This is some hilarious stuff about Tom Jones.

You know what I was thinking. My friends and I do a Zoom each week to discuss music and albums and in general we just bullshit about random things. Maybe after the Holidays when Stanger is home and healthier and that’s the vibe I’m putting out there, we can do a blog Zoom and get a little more personal. Many of us have met, but not all and it puts a face and a voice to our written words. It might put an end to some bickering that we deal with here when you get the dialogue from the inflection and the demeanor of a person rather then the speculation of the written word.
That sounds like a good idea
OK. Raiders are eliminated from a 10-7 Dolphins finish.
Packers over Clev on Saturday and Clev will be eliminated from a 10-7 Fins IF they lose to either Steelers or Bengals (Conf tie breaks). Raiders win would be easier, but this is still doable. Just adds another game that “we need”. 🙂

It’s pretty crazy that we’re even discussing these possibilities after the 1-7 start when we were all losing our minds. LOL

BTW, I may have told you about WHY I got into the medical field. When I was in college my dad had a pneumonectomy that was quite unusual. He had one lung loaded with cancer while the other one had NO TRACE of cancer. The surgeon removed his bad lung and Dad lived for another 25 years (all of which were GOOD years).
I asked him “Did you have to give much thought to giving up smoking?” “Hell NO!” was his immediate response. He had smoked continuously from the age of 14 until he was well into his 60’s. Said he smoked 3 packs a day during WW2, and I believed him. I was intrigued by the tests and X-Rays that immediately detected Dad’s cancer. Said to myself, “Maybbe I should check intobeing a radiological Technologist. A few years later, I had my R.T. and was working tons of hours as an X-Ray tech. Then along came the CT scanner, and, after about a year of that I was named chief CT Scan Tech at a facility in Palm Beach County. But the coin business kept calling me and, in 1989, I left the medical field for the the wild and crazy world of being a rare coin authenticator. I will soon be 76, and I STILL work 40-50 hours a week at my unusual profession.
SO-o-o, no smoking, a very challenging job, and a wonderful wife have kept me going full speed ahead. Bouts with cancer, hearing loss, the Covid virus, etc., etc., have barely slowed me down. I am probably in better shape right now than at any time in my last 25+ years. I walk my dogs 20+ miles a week, or, should I say “They walk ME 20 miles a week?”
GOOD DECISIONS in your private life can pay almost immediate positive results. I enjoyed being an X-Ray tech in military and civilian life. My time as a chief CT Scan tech was intellectually challenging and, sometimes, physically challenging, too. I’m sure, though, that nothing I’ve done can challenge what Young Stanger has achieved in the legal field. He’s NOT one to brag but, I’ll tell you, thousands of people (some disadvantaged) have benefitted greatly from the laws he has helped to develop. He’s truly an awesome guy.
WE’RE ALL PULLING FOR YOU, Jon! There is so much more you can do in your life. And there are many thousand more individuals you CAN and WILL help in the future!!
👍
^
In general we want the team with the better record to lose, exceptions are KC and Buff, someone has to win the division better a team like KC wins out and beats the division foes, with Buffalo, if we’re tied with them we’re out, so best they just win division
THIS OLD DOLFAN will walk the Greyhound and call it an evening!
The Dolphins are one day closer to their next victory.
And Young Stanger is one day closer to walking out of that hospital!!!
We really have to give kudos to our team with them dealing with the 1-7 start and then winning 6 in a row for us to even have these discussions. It shows a lot about the character and talent on the team. It would have been really easy for all of them to call it a day. Competitors don’t do that.
I am just trying to enjoy the ride and manage my expectations at the same time. I am finding myself getting a little bit more intense with each game.
Of course! But this team never stopped competing. There’s a lot to be said for that.
Feels like someone on the Bears slept with the refs wife … wow the calls are one sided .. sometimes warranted.. but wow
Not allowed to play defense any more
For those that don’t like too many scenarios, here you go.
If these 4 games go our way on Sunday, we control our own destiny (win out and we’re in no matter what else happens).
BAL @ CIN – CIN
PIT @ KC – KC
DEN @ LV – DEN
BUF @ NE – BUF
Wow!!! It’s always been about us winning out. At least it’s become fun again. 🙂
Appreciate this Kong .. sorry fir your loads Sunday 😊
Or loss
No prob 🙂
…I appreciate the consolation on the loss, it’s always hard losing to a team below you in the standings, but I’ll find a way through the darkness, lol.
Lol nice
