Every game counts. While every game counts, once you get to this point of the season, to the point where playoff talk is no longer just talk, it’s a reality as the 7th seed in the AFC, the games right now are basically playoff games in and of themselves. There’s no room for error, any loss can potentially eliminate our playoff chances so when we square off against the AFC South division leading Tennessee Titans, this is HUGE. The Titans at 10-5 are one game ahead of the Indianapolis Colts. We are 8-7 and Wild Card #3, the #7 seed. It’s clear how we’ve arrived at this point, it’s the men pictured above that have carried us here. The defense is the unit that is ready for prime time, ready for the playoffs and maybe more. The offense has improved, but without stellar defensive play, this team can’t hang with the big boys.
This week we face a very good team. They’re not the same team without their star RB Derrick Henry, but they’re still a tough team. Derrick was injured in the 8th game of the season with the Titans at 6-2. Since then they’ve gone 4-3 to get to 10-5. They have a good defense, midpack statistically and the same for their offense. They are not nearly as fearsome without Derrick Henry in the lineup. The Titans haven’t scored 30 points since Henry’s departure and they’ve been held to 20 points or lower in 5 of those 7 games. QB Ryan Tannehill misses Henry. Tannehill wasn’t exactly killing it with Henry but he’s dropped off some without him. For comparison, Tannehill had a 90.2 QBR through 8 games with Derrick Henry. 10 TD’s – 7 INT’s, 2002 yards, completing 65.6% of his passes. With Henry OUT, Tannehill’s QBR is 78.6, 5 TD’s – 7 INT’s, completing 68.4% of his passes for 1325 yards. Clearly not as effective without the elite run game. The Titans trio of RB’s (D’Onta Foreman, Jeremy McNichols and Dontrell Hilliard) have managed only 755 yards combined since Henry’s injury. The good news for the Titans is that WR A.J. Brown is now healthy, and he’s the biggest threat in this offense. Tannehill has really had to spread the ball around when A.J. Brown was out. Still, Julio Jones is just a shadow of his former self and still has zero TD’s playing in 9 games.
Not being cocky here, but I like our chances with our defense against Tennessee’s offense. If there’s anything I know about Tannehill (and most QB’s really) is that they don’t do well with lots of pressure. I think if we turn up the heat on Tannehill our secondary could have a day. They will try and run the ball on us, as they should, but if we can hold up like we did against New Orleans and force them into 3rd and long situations, I think we’ll thrive like that. On offense, we have to protect Tua from LB Harold Landry, DE Denico Autry and DT Jeffrey Simmons with 11, 8 and 7.5 sacks respectively. The Titans have 37 sacks as a team, we lead the NFL with 45. The beauty of our defense is our sacks come from everywhere. DT’s, DE’s, LB’s, S’s, CB’s, all of them. DE Emmanuel Ogbah has been the constant throughout his tenure here in MIA. Rookie Jaelan Phillips and LB Andrew Van Ginkel have been coming on strong the second half of the season. Our scheme on defense has been tough to solve for opposing offenses. It’s the old Dolphins QB vs the new Dolphins QB. It’s the new Dolphins era vs the old Dolphins era. Can Brian Flores give this team the intestinal fortitude to step up instead of fold?
Historically over the last couple of decades, games like this have been a nightmare for Dolphins fans. I’d like to think it will be different, and I honestly do feel like it’s different, but it sure would be great to actually see it happen. Just last year it was against the Bills Game 17, and we were shredded by a team who pulled their starters after the 1st half departing after a 28-6 lead at half. We lost 56-26. In 2018, at 7-6, we got crushed by the Minnesota Vikings 41-17. In 2016, it was the Wild Card Playoff game against the Steelers losing 30-12 with Matt Moore in for the injured Ryan Tannehill. In 2013, at 8-7 we go up against the Bills with QB Tyrod Taylor OUT, and QB Thaddeus Lewis (Who???) in for Taylor, and we fall 19-0 as Ryan Tannehill before getting injured was sacked 7 times and put up a 46.7 QBR. These are the nightmares I’m talking about. Oh lord, we need to be different, we need to be better, we need to be tougher. We need our O-line to be mean Sunday. Maybe Duke Johnson and Phillip Lindsay bring the physical nature we need but we need the hogs up front to open holes and keep the defense off of Tua. We need to include DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki in the pass game. I love Waddle but I’m going to guess that Titans HC Mike Vrabel, much like Bill Belichick will do his best to limit Waddle, which means the other guys I mentioned should have opportunities. Make it happen, make our fans happy, and turn that corner from meek and mediocre to tough and battle tested and winners!
A prayer for our friend Jon (#stangerstrong) Hoping for Godspeed in his recovery.
Happy New Year!!!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

First!
Probably very good timing after my rant on the last one! 😂
Hope you don’t mind I re-posted it Herd. I didn’t see it as a rant, more of something that needed to be said and heard.
Actually not cause a few still need to read it. Thank you again!
exactly, please repost that.
Tim, I like the idea of having an Allen Robinson but not at that cost. We have a good number of players to resign or sign. We have a lot of cap space but only have 37 under contract for next season. Ogbah will take a huge chunk. I’m thinking 15-20 mil. The best F/A RT on the market is Trent Brown. Pats signed him on a 1 year deal for 7.5. I think we could get him on a 3 year deal for 10-12 mil per. Then we have Gesicki who I wouldn’t pay over 10mil per for but he will probably get more. Not sure. We could be looking at almost half our cap space for those 3. If we could sign Robinson for the price of Fuller and keep the price down on the 3 above, I may do it. We still need to sign a stud LG and replenish our LB corps.
Signing a high priced WR isn’t going to help us if we don’t fix the OL.
I would rather draft a WR and use our $ to sign one of the elite OTs
^ and a LG
Happy New Year everyone
Great article Mike, Thanks
Thanks Rob
Whooooooooooohooooooooooo
So excited about the Game I’m ready to start drinking now
But one of my clients scheduled a zoom meeting at 11am…..jerks….
When it’s done though….
Great article MikeE!
Thanks Mike
Celebrated my New Year last night. I have to go into work at 10pm tonight and work straight through to 10pm Sunday. Going to be tough tonight as I plan on watching football instead of taking a nap.

Sigh….it’s the beginning of the last day of the year. We find ourselves still in playoff contention when earlier in the season we’d have thought anyone who suggested it had lost their mind! Yet we still can’t seem to have civil conversation and debate, even when being reminded, in fact flat out told to refrain from going at each other. Even the reminder of what is going on with Stanger currently hasn’t changed things much.
I’d like to remind everyone who is engaging in this bad behavior that you are literally killing this blog by your actions. Randy said it yesterday, he doesn’t come around as often because of it and I’ve said the same to the other admins. I click on the page and see this constant arguing and name calling and personal attacks and close it. We try not to censor anyone because we believe everyone has reasonable intelligence and manners to know how to behave. Yet here we are.
I just paid the bill for the next year. I have to tell you for the first time ever I had to think about whether I really was going to. This isn’t about money. My fellow admins chip in when I ask and there have been other offers from some of you. It’s not a lot in my mind and since I don’t write articles it’s my contribution. My point is to the issue of how some of you are behaving. Is it really that hard to behave like civilized adults? This is supposed to be FUN, something to ENJOY. I love a good debate. What happens here is if you can’t change the other person’s position to your own, let the name calling commence. That’s the sign of someone who has nothing valid left to say. It’s also childish and annoying to everyone else, not to mention extremely selfish to take over a space that is provided for everyone’s enjoyment because you can’t adhere to a little common courtesy and stop the petty arguments and name calling. If it continues this way you’ll have no one to talk to but yourself.
I’m not addressing this to anyone in particular but if you think any of it might pertain to you, it probably does.
Stay safe, and keep sending good vibes, thoughts, prayers or whatever it is you do Stanger‘s way. Sorry for the rant. It’s been building up for awhile.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! GO DOLPHINS!

This deserved a re-post
BBM:
I really want us to draft your guy Jameson. If for nothing else we can start a great drinking game on the blog called Taking a Shot. Every time he catches a deep pass or scores a TD you have to take a shot
Depending of how we finish the season, I’m not sure if he will last to our pick. I think he’s probably top 15 now.
I don’t think he will be there either. I just wanted to start a new drinking game. I have that kind of mind
Hahaha!
Man I just had a flashback of Mom shaking that wooden spoon at me! 😉
Hahahaha!
I’d be using first middle and last names if I knew them. 😂
I thought my name was “Dammit” for a long time! 😉
🤣🤣🤣🤣 OMG that brought back memories. Kind of like PTSD
Yeah, I have experienced the wooden spoon years (decades) ago. That and the paddle that had the ball attached by a rubber band. I swear my mom had 3 of those strategically stashed around the house. lol
Nice job Mike. I read this morning that if we lose Sunday we are eliminated.
I don’t pay attention to any of the permutations, I say just win baby! Just win and let the cards fall where they may. I know we’re in if we win out, so that’s what we need to do!
I don’t either, I just happens to come across a post about it
I believe that is not technically correct but practically speaking it will be highly unlikely that we get in
Yeah, I was wondering if that extra AFC loss would give us one too many to win a tiebreaker with some of the other teams.
Someone posted the scenarios a couple of days ago. It requires a lot of things to happen
However one of my favorite movie lines of all times: “Never tell me the odds. “
Looking at Spotrac, there are not many good RT’s available in free agency. Trent Brown is the top dog then really drops off. Next is Germain Ifedi and I heard he has not been very good for Chicago. Don’t know much about the next 3 who look like they are entering their final contract year. Morgan Moses (starter) of the Jets, Mike Remmers (backup) of KC and Bobby Massie (starter) of Denver.
I don’t have the access to see where they rank/grades.
I wonder if Austin Jackson can transition to the right side. Doubtful, but I’m just reaching here.
Or maybe bring in a top G, and move Hunt to RT.
I wouldn’t give up on him just yet but I am not counting on him either
Yeah Mike. I just don’t get it that Davis is the best we can do at RT.
Not sure, but we spent a high pick on him. Might as well try. Really, can’t be worse than Davis is right now.
LOL @ Wyo, er Dammit!
He needs to change his name and use a wooden spoon as his avatar
😂
My Grandma use a switch on me, and i had to go PICK IT!
That was the worst. Insult to injury.
“I’m going to whip your ass now Rob, why don’t you do me a favor and go pick out the weapon Sweetie.”
Pfffft! A wooden spoon? Here in WV, my mom’s weapon of choice was a switch. I’m convinced the only reason there were shrubs around the house was to provide an endless supply of them. 😂
That was Dad’s go too!
Only we couldn’t mess with the tree’s, so it was out of the kindling box!
Damnit that’s funny
I see what you did there! 🙂
😉
I’m starting to actually feel grateful about my mom using a wooden spoon, although my grandmother did have a wooden paddle that wasn’t so hot.

HC Brian Flores Friday December 31 media availability thread
9:32 AM · Dec 31, 2021·Twitter Web App
The Dolphins will have to see how it goes Sunday with regards to the player on the COVID list. Flores says the earliest they’re eligible to come off is Sunday. He also says one option on the table is like with Holland two weeks ago, activate him, see on Sunday.
Brandon Jones, Adam Butler John Jenkins – the players who were added this week*
Coach says playing on a potentially slippery surface Sunday is something they are aware of and check on; he says it reinforces the core fundamentals of the game (shoulders over knees) that you learn in Pop Warner.
He also says they pulled some clips from that game last night to show the players. Amazing how no detail goes left unchecked in this game.
Solomon Kindley and Albert Wilson will return OFF the COVID list today.
I watched that game last night btwn TN and Purdue. They were slipping all over the place and players getting injured. In the 4th quarter many of the Purdue players were faking to try and slow down the TN offense.
I was thinking “when did Tennessee become a triple option team”?
Not going to go through all the names but there are some good OG’s in free agency next year. Spotrac does not identify left or right on the guard position. We should be able to find a significant upgrade at LG in free agency.
You guys got off light with switches and wooden spoons.
What was used on you, an entire tree branch?
The first step in the right direction. lol
Some free agent RB’s available next year:
Melvin Gordon, DEN
Leonard Fournette, TB
Phillip Lindsay, MIA
Duke Johnson, MIA
Cordarrelle Patterson, ATL
Rashaad Penny, SEA
James Connor, AZ
Ronald Jones II, TB
Darel Williams, KC
Devonta Freeman, BAL
Among others
I’m kind of at the point to want to re-sign the guys we had and draft a good one.
On the list Fournette would be the guy I am all in for
Tim, if we were to spend big on a f/a WR, I might take Devonte Adams over Allen Robinson.
BBM – what about D.J. Chark or Christian Kirk?
I guess I need to stop using Spotrac. You look up free agents by position and Chark is not listed by then pull him up by name on Spotrac and they shoe him not being under contract next year. SMH
Is Chark injured? He’s only played 17.4% of their snaps.
Top 3 f/a WR’s who will command big money:
Allen Robinson, CHI
Devonte Adams, GB
Chris Godwin, TB (I think he was a little overrated and over paid)
Others of interest (to me):
Mike Williams, LAC
Cristian Kirk, AZ
Mack Hollins, MIA
Byron Pringle, KC
Russell Gage, ATL
Odell Beckham, Jr (???)
Resign Hollins is a must for depth and ST. On the list I really like Pringle. He fits the offense we play. Speed and moves. That TD he scored last week was sick
Watch TD # 2 ridiculous run after catch
good lord that 1st and goal where Mahomes has 6+ seconds of just sitting back there in the pocket.
I know SB7. Kind of makes you appreciate what Tua does behind this crap OL
The good news for the Titans is that WR A.J. Brown is now healthy, and he’s the biggest threat in this offense.
Mike, it was reported yesterday, that he didn’t practice, because of a lower body injury
He’ll likely play, but won’t be 100%
Oh wow, thanks Steve! That’s great news for us! He’s a tough assignment, but if he’s banged up, all the better
Mike,
I’m reminded of all these win and we are in games we failed at as well. We definitely need to break the cycle.
SB, I’m scarred bro. Slattery’s is like the Amityville Horror house to me because of the 19-0 Bills game and a Ravens game I didn’t mention.
BBM – Yeah, Chark is on IR with a fractured ankle. Not an injury that will affect him in the future
Dang, Overthecap lists so many more free agents. Bye-bye Spotrac.
Spotrac.com shows Chark as a free agent, that’s where I found him. Even has a Market Value for him at just under $12M
We can’t really control who is available and where the strengths are in free agency and the draft
But theoretically, I would much rather spend free agent money on offensive line (I am partial to FA RTs) and keeping guys and the draft on skill positions (WR and RB) and defense
So if we can do that, that would be cool
Some interesting stats regarding yesterday’s nonsens….errr….debate about RPO and power running games. Surprising that some of the “Power Running” teams (including the Titans) mentioned actually pass more than run.
https://www.footballdb.com/stats/play-selection.html
Interesting only 1 team runs more than passes Philadelphia
Piggy – we know you’re partial to FA RT ‘s
🐖💨
🐖💨💨💨💨💨💨
I SOOOOO MUCH want to see Jacksonville beat New England this week. Not for any playoff scenarios, just because I want to see it and revel in my petty hate. LOL
And ATL to beat BUF. Wouldn’t that be some shit. From 1-7 to Tied for the AFC-E with a week to go?
^^^^^^^^^^^
^^^^^^^^^^^^
YES!
Everyone this year has passed on first down more than they have run. EVERY team
https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/rushing-first-down-pct
over the last 3 years only Only Baltimore with their read option (NOT RPO) running QB and for one season Indi has run more than they pass on first down.
RPO and Read Option are not the same thing, for those who do not realize. Just like there IS play action from shotgun, which interestingly is more common now than it is from under center….
The game isn’t played under center that is a bygone era
Watching these bowl games has opened my eyes up to 2 more draft prospects. Both juniors so it is if they declare for the draft.
RB Kevin Harris, South Carolina, 5’10 220
WR Jalen Nailor, Michigan State, runs in the high 4.3’s
I like Nailor a lot
If we drafted him
Every time he scores we can say “that’s another Nailor in the e coffin”
Or not…..which ever. LOL
Pool or a pond
Happy New Year!!
Stay Strong, Stanger!!
Good article, Mike. I like how our defense matches up against the Titans. If we play sound football, commit no turnovers, and execute on special teams, I think we have a great chance to win this one setting up a win and in season finale with the Pets in Miami. Woohoo!!
Thanks Kong – Happy New Year! 🍾
https://www.viqtorysports.com/play-action-rpo-read-option/
In short, play-action passes mean the lineman is pass blocking while the quarterback fakes run. Read options require the line to block run, and the quarterback is reading a defensive lineman. RPO is similar to the read-option, but instead of reading a defensive lineman, the quarterback is reading a linebacker to throw the football or hand it off, while the lineman is blocking for a run.
These 3 types of plays for the casual fan can get confusing – as to the naked eye. Especially for linebackers, they would all react the same way to the backfield action.
First, let’s learn about the fundamentals of each play;
JEKYLL AND HYDE
Titans
Since Week 11, the Titans have had 0 giveaways in 2 games (2-0) and 4+ giveaways in 3 games (0-3)
Streak to continue! they will be plus in giveaways and lose again.
RIP, Betty. You will be missed.
As promised, I’m going to post one of my wing recipes. It’ll probably be a couple of posts, one for the recipe, one for the notes. I tried to be concise in imparting the info, but as I said, I can go on about the finer points of making wings for hours, lol.
Also, I guess I should note, I have adapted this recipe over the years from other sites and recipes. I’m pretty sure mine is unique, but the concepts aren’t (like using vodka in the batter).
People use vodka in things like pie crusts because it promotes flakiness due to being able to add moisture without developing gluten. Same thing with wings. It’ll help give you a light, crunchy coating without creating a hard and concrete-like exterior.
2 ½ lbs wings (thawed)
Peanut Oil (or other frying oil)
Wing rub
¼ cup (30g) cornstarch
2 tsp kosher salt, ½ tsp baking powder
Batter
½ cup (60g) cornstarch, ½ cup (65g) flour
2 tsp kosher salt
½ tsp baking powder, ½ tsp sweet paprika
½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp cayenne powder
½ cup cold water, ½ cup vodka (or other 80 proof alcohol)
Sauce
½ cup Franks hot sauce (or other hot sauce)
1/3 cup unsalted butter
¼ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp vinegar
Pat wings dry. Whisk wing rub in med bowl. Dust wings individually, shake off and place on wire rack set in cookie sheet. Refrigerate uncovered in single layer on wire rack for 2 – 24 hrs. (I like to leave them overnight, but as long as the dust has time to adhere for a couple hours, the difference is negligible.)
Take wings from fridge 15-20 minutes before frying. Whisk dry batter ingredients in med bowl. Then, when ready to fry, add wet ingredients to bowl and whisk. Batter should be thin.
Heat 1½ – 2 qts oil (see note) to 350. As temp hits 350, work in batches. Batter wings individually and place immediately in oil. Don’t overcrowd. Do not let oil drop below 300, try to keep oil between 325-350. Fry wings for 8-10, up to 12 for very large wings. I usually flip wings about halfway through Exterior should be nice golden brown. Remove to wire rack. Let oil come back up to 350 before adding next batch.
For sauce whisk all ingredients together in saucepan over low heat until incorporated. You can sauce the wings directly after cooking or serve them with a bowl of sauce for people to sauce their own wings.
that’s 8-10 minutes or up to 12 minutes
Notes:
• It’s essential you keep the oil between 325-350. I use a thermapen to constantly check my oil temp throughout the process. I used to use my candy thermometer, but found I just have more finetuned control with the thermapen (or any instant read). Side note- the thermapen is the single most important tool in my kitchen. If you’re serious about cooking, I highly recommend it. And this isn’t a thermapen commercial, lol.
• I usually use enough oil to come up the pot about 3/4” or so. For my dutch oven, that is a little over 1½ quarts. The size and shape of the pan you use will determine the amount of oil. You want your wings to be as submerged as possible when dropped. Oil expands as it heats and is displaced by the wings, so I find ¾” up the side is sufficient for frying one bag of wings.
• One 2.5 lb bag of wings is usually between 16-18 wings. I usually work in batches of 6 (or 5 for the batch of largest drumettes). It works out to 3 batches and around 30 minutes of cooking.
• When working in batches I try to do all my largest drumettes in the first batch. You have the most oil in the pot to cover and the cooking time will be the same so you don’t overcook some of your wings.
• Once your batch of wings are in the pot, after 15 seconds or so, you can use tongs to lift each wing momentarily and make sure they haven’t stuck to each other or the bottom of the pan. If you’re comfortable working with the oil, when dropping your wings you can hold the wing halfway in the oil for a few seconds before dropping it. This will prevent it from sticking. Don’t hurt yourself! If you aren’t comfortable doing this, use the tong method above.
• Chicken wings will start to float when fully cooked. You can’t always tell with the drumettes as they are usually so big the don’t fully submerge, but you will see it with the wing flats.
Also be aware, if you aren’t used to frying…oil splatters everywhere. If you have a tall pot this helps. I usually use tea towels to cover the unused area of my stove for easier clean up.
Thank you, Mike E and Herd!
Kong I think I’m making wings to watch the game
Is an air fryer okay
Probably just going to lift the batter recipe
Piggy, I only use my oven air fryer for reheating. I’ve never actually cooked with it. The batter is very thin, like runny. It’s not a breaded type of production, so I’m not sure using this batter would work in an air fryer.
This batter is more like a tempura batter.
Yeah, some had it easy….lol.
Belt on bare skin and face slaps….and we had to pick the belt. Went for the thicker ones so they didn’t sting as much, lmao.
Another reason I hate name calling….lol.
Beer chili is smelling good! Brewing…lol

I make these wings every other Sunday during the season, lol.
Nice CK! Thanks for sharing the wing recipe….awesome!
Cheers, bro!
Kong I’ve seen tempura in the air fryer before. I will let you know when I try it…..lol
Oh, cool, I didn’t know that Piggy. Yes, please let me know. I am curious to see how they turn out. If it works, maybe I’ll get myself an actual air fryer instead of just my oven one and then my wife will let me have wings EVERY Sunday during the season. 😂

Awww, RIP Betty White. Really odd that I saw a meme the other day with a picture of Betty White looking perplexed and the meme said ” Betty White contemplating life without Legos (Ages 3-99)
She would have turned 100 1/17/22
Yeah very sad because she is loved by so many. But she lived a great life. I also saw that meme which I found to be funny.
RIP Betty White
You lost me a batter. Wings should not be breaded IMO.
Traditional buffalo wings are prepared naked, and I have recipes for naked Buffalo wings. The best way to prepare those, IMO, is using the double fry method. It takes twice as long to prepare those, but they are fantastic too.
Any true wing enthusiast will tell you there is no right or wrong way to prepare wings, only right or wrong people. 😉
And hey, if you’re going to be elitist at least use the right terminology. These wings are battered, not breaded. There is a difference between those two preparations. 🤣🤣
Rock just got BITCH-slapped! lol
LOL, the occasional risk of being a ballbuster…

Hooters has the best wings in Ocala.

Sounds pretty dangerous actually, with as much oil splattering around as you suggest. Hell you even put towels down over the rest of your stove you should at least cover your junk with cloth. 😜

So I have this chef’s apron with the statue of david on it. It’s my favorite cooking apron because it makes everyone do a double take when I come out of the kitchen with it on.

“That’s definitely my goal, stay here long term, the rest of my career.”
– Emmanuel Ogbah
Compare this to Watson who wants everything his way or he’s not playing. Which mindset do you want in your team?
Yep! Ogbah has earned his payday and we need to re-sign him.
I hope that we can start getting Waddle loose more often. He’s been SO close a few times, I feel like it’s only a matter of time.
Teams game plan to keep him in front of them. You see it every week. There is always a Safety over the top. But he still keeps the chains moving with his quickness and he has excellent hands. He rarely drops a pass.
They game plan to keep Tyreek Hill in front of them too Tim!
Yeah they do and they take him out of the game a lot of the time. Then he has a few feast games and disappears again. The Chiefs offense is way ahead of us and Hill is not a rookie. Also a lot of the big plays Hill makes are of the sandlot type broken plays because Mahomes plays like that. Mahomes rarely stays in the pocket, he’s always running around and it’s chaos for defenses to stay with receivers because their offense has so much improv.
I figured Alabama would be too tough in the trenches for Cincinnati.
It’s closer than I would have thought
This is the one I wear Cav

My new Daughter in-law got it for me!
We need to ball out tomorrow….facts!
Today is Friday 😉
Lol….I have been losing days lately, oh my!
Well I tried to talk the wife into getting me a apron like Cav’s
It went over like a free agent right tackle in an elevator! 😉
LOL!!
Next time just get it and ask for forgiveness rather than permission!
BBM, we have plenty of cap to address a few players. Steve mentioned how much the cap is going up in 2023 so we can push money down the road for Ogbah, Gesicki and a RT. My 2 years $25M for Allen Robinson was just a suggestion and $12.5M per year is not a cap crusher at all.
We need to make a major run next year regardless of how this season plays out.
New Year’s plans canceled. Fuck COVID-19! So many people are getting it. 2 girls at work have it, one if the docs whole family has it. My neighbor’s son has it (that’s where we were going) in addition to his future father in law who I shook his hand on Wednesday. I have all 3 shots but I feel like it’s almost impossible to dodge this shit
It is the new cold.

Some interesting stats regarding yesterday’s nonsens….errr….debate about RPO and power running games. Surprising that some of the “Power Running” teams (including the Titans) mentioned actually pass more than run.

Interesting only 1 team runs more than passes Philadelphia

You’re taking yesterdays nonsens….errr….debate out of context, sure if you look at the entire game then your stats are relevant however that’s not what the debate was about. as far as running the ball i was saying that teams run more in the first qtr vs passing except us.
it was in defense of the constant ridicule of our OL.
So what you are agreeing to in the context of yesterdays nonsens….errr….debate is that our OL sucks and they all need to be replaced.
that was the argument yesterday.
i was saying that I don’t buy our OL sucks, that the scheme we run has an affect on the inefficiency of our OL
Just to be clear about the nonsens….errr….debate
run more on first down
Tim, I wouldn’t mind a younger WR like D.J. Chark or Christian Kirk.
I think Watson will want Fuller back he and waddle should be great together
Ha! Fuck Watson, he’s gonna need Sherlock Holmes to save his ass.
LOL
Yeah man, there are plenty of options. Chark is coming off a season ending injury though and Kirk seems to be inconsistent though they both have talent. I just like Robinson’s skills. I want to draft a WR too. We need to open this offense up. Obviously we have to upgrade the OL but we need better skill players too.
Oh, and fuck Fuller Got Fingered too! LOL
😂
I sure hope we beat Tenn sunday, what a great matchup the last game will be against the pats at home! we may send them out of the playoffs.
It will be bedlam. I can actually imagine Hard Rock being filled to capacity
Tim – Chark’s injury was a fractured ankle. He should be 💯 next season
That would be an interesting option- shouldn’t cost a ton. I like Kim’s idea of Pringle too.
ORob, you know that Indy uses RPO and runs out of shotgun most of the time with Taylor in a 21 personnel formation like we do. The difference is their OL is really good and Taylor is one of the best backs in the league.
You have this idea in your head that as long as we do it the way you say we should, it would all work seamlessly. When we run for -2, no gain or maybe 2-3 yards much of the time, that’s not something you keep doing unless you have a lead and feel you have the game under control. That kind of rushing puts you in 3rd and long too often and that’s not a good place to be on a regular basis.
Or OL has played better of late but they still struggle too often. They either aren’t good enough or they’re not ready as a group. But it is what is right now so this is who we have to play with.
And our OL has played better against shitty defenses- it was right back where it’s been against NO.
Yeah I knew that game was going to be a low scoring defensive game. I was thinking 16-13, 17-10 or something like that. We won 20-3 with a pick 6 so offense was 13-3.
Mike,
NY is overrun with Covid right now, vaccinated or not. The good thing is the Omicron variant seems to be far less severe in regards to the symptoms. Basically a cold in most cases.
Sorry your plans got cancelled! I was supposed to go see Sebastian Maniscalco tonight but it was postponed earlier this week to March.
Damn, Sebastian is great! Love that guy. He cracks me up. Hope you enjoy whatever else you’re doing tonight.
What’s happening now is people are testing positive for this new strain of COVID whatever you want to call it, and it is basically a cold that we’ve all dealt with our entire lives.
The issue I have with how this stuff is being reported these days, it’s as if pneumonia isn’t a thing anymore. Yeah it is. People get very sick with pneumonia and people who are already ill with other ailments die from it. Now it’s all COVID. It’s becoming a marketing and ad campaign to instill COVID in your mind the same way products and services are advertised.
I know a bunch of people who tested positive for COVID and what they had was a cold or the flu just like we have dealt with forever. It’s not much different than what most of us who grew up with snow and blizzards etc., the media now calls them Bomb Cyclones and other frightening names. It’s a nasty winter storm. It happens. Welcome to earth. LOL
^^
Mike, I have two shots and have had Covid since last Thursday. This is the second time I’ve had it, but this time seems much more mild. I had mild cough and nasal congestion with a consistent low grade fever and fatigue. Definatly worse than a cold / not as bad as the first time I got it about like having a mild flu. Except I’m going on day 8 now. Just exhaustion all the time now and shortness of breath. No fever or cough any more, Still have shortness of breath. .
Take the word COVID out of it and you have a nasty cold, the flu or a bug. We act like that never existed before. The reasons you keep getting data and statistics is because people are getting tested for it. Back in the day you felt shitty went to the doctor and they told you yeah you probably have the flu and bronchitis. Take this, drink fluids and get rest.
There is a fear factor being promoted these days and you know negative news and fear sells.
Alright! I’m starting to begin my scouting process, later than ever before. 3 days ago, redshirt sophomore Tyler Allgeier, RB, BYU (5’11”, 220, 4.42 fastest 40-time) declared for the 2022 NFL Draft. Here are his career stats: https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/tyler-allgeier-1.html
He should be on our radar, y’all.
Cool, I didn’t think he was going to declare.
Yeah, man. I don’t think ANYBODY thought he’d declare.
I say that as he being a BYU player… I highly doubt he’s gone on a ‘mission’, if you will.
Looks a bit like Javonte Williams.
A little bit, judging from his highlights. I’m going to look at his game tape to see if he’s legit.

…My 2 years $25M for Allen Robinson was just a suggestion and $12.5M per year is not a cap crusher at all.
We need to make a major run next year regardless of how this season plays out.

I’d absolutely love to have A-Rob on our team. If we can fit him in, that would be great!
Is this still the Friday music theme?

Can Orob and Arob coexist here?
Yo, Happy New Year to you and yours, my friend!
Thank you for all you do to keep us all connected as a family here on this blog!
Happy New Year M! My pleasure bud! I love this crazy family of ours. I hope we get our man Stanger back home soon

The type of RB I think we all want is a guy who’s got good vision and is hard to tackle. It’s great to have top end speed, but playing RB is not a straight line most of the time. You have to battle for those tough yards. Gaskin plays like that but he’s limited due to size. Most of our backs are like that. Add a guy who can get 4-5 yards more often and now we’re getting somewhere.
Some may laugh, but I’m telling y’all, Rashaad Penny as a rotational back (limiting his carries, limiting his injury risk) would be INCREDIBLE for us. We’ll see what he and his agent are going for in FA.
He’s a possibility. I don’t think you have to have a feature back. But you need guys who can get tough yards when you have to. We struggle with that right now.
Sounds an awful lot like what ORob has wanted for years
I’ve always been a balance offense guy. I think the 1984 49ers was the best offense/team I ever saw. They could play the game anyway it needed to be played. And that was before Jerry Rice.
ORob did not invent a tough running game and play-action in football. He invented 2nd and 1 is worse than 3rd and 3. LOL
