Chris Grier is clearly the Top Dog, The Big Man, Numero Uno Honcho, The Head Cheese. This is his ballgame, at least for this season. He’ll be responsible for our draft, and for choosing wisely in the 2022 Free Agency period before and after the draft. Whomever is hired as Head Coach will have the understanding that Chris Grier, at least for the moment is the man with the power and the final say on personnel decision making. He will accommodate his new Head Coach, but he will not be overrun by him. The Dolphins should be able to fill some huge holes in Free Agency, otherwise known as “Overpaying Contracts”. It doesn’t matter, we have to spend money, and we will. If we overpay, so be it, it’s expected. Besides having a few key positions of need, we have our own free agents that need to be taken care of. Let’s put it this way, we don’t need to save for the future, we need to get this team right now. Fix the biggest issue, which is the O-line and then work at giving Tua some upgraded weapons at RB and WR, not necessarily through Free Agency, but both Free Agency and the NFL Draft. Our first pick will likely be one of the last 3 picks in RD 1, and Grier needs to hit on that one. He no longer has an arsenal of multiple first, second and third round picks, and for a change we’re making our first selection at the end of the 1st round, but unfortunately not because we won a playoff game.
To address re-signing our own guys, the most obvious target is DE Emmanuel Ogbah. His market value is slated at $10M per year but I’m thinking more like $12-14M. Either way, he’s priority number one. Mike Gesicki will be a curious situation to keep an eye on. We know Gesicki is a talented receiving TE, and we also know Chris Grier selected him in RD 2, pick #42 in 2018. He’s had a nice career as a Miami Dolphins TE, not as good as I expected though. I still feel like he was underused here. I’d have thought he’d be the most dynamic receiving TE in a Dolphins uniform but that still belongs to former TE Randy McMichael. Randy Mac finished his first 4 seasons with 221 receptions, 2456 yards and 15 TD’s. Slightly behind is Gesicki with 199 receptions for 2255 yards and 13 TD’s. I truly thought Gesicki’s totals should have been higher. Twice in McMichael’s first 4 he was targeted over 100 times, Gesicki finally did that last season, but the caveat there is it was a 17 game season. Like I said, underused. My next guy is Nik Needham. I love this kid, and I hope we consider him an important part of our team. The 25 year old defensive back has played anywhere and everywhere and has played well. He’s averaged 50-60 tackles per season and has 6 INT’s in 3 seasons. He also has 23 passes defensed. He’s a team player and an unselfish one. The next player I want to re-sign but more for depth is LB Elandon Roberts. He’s a strong 2 down run stopper as we have seen for the last couple of years. TE Durham Smythe is another player we should re-sign, and I believe it’s possible Smythe is signed before Gesicki and possibly instead of Gesicki if Gesicki’s price is too steep. We MUST also re-sign ST’s ace and WR Mack Hollins. He’s a high priority re-sign as well.
OK, now on to the rest of the NFL’s potential castoffs. We need a huge upgrade or 2 on our O-line. We can address one or both in FA, and I can almost guarantee you that we will be spending a good amount on at least one of the top tier offensive linemen. To quickly reiterate, I’m not convinced we’re going to be looking for a tackle, although the argument for one can easily be made. My belief is still that Austin Jackson can be our LT and Liam Eichenberg can be our RT. That would indicate we’d be looking for interior OL, either 2 guards or a guard and a center. I think the latter is more likely. Brandon Scherff and Andrew Norwell are the top OG’s, but the guy I had mentioned weeks ago and still prefer is 49ers LG Laken Tomlinson. He plays every game every season and would solidify the left side and help young Austin Jackson at LT. I like Robert Hunt at RG so I’d prefer we look for an OC. The pickings are slim unless we’re looking for a C over 30. The Detroit Lions lost their star OC Frank Ragnow early on and turned to former NYG and former Dolphin C Evan Brown. Brown had a great season starting 12 games for the Lions. He’s a FA and just 25 years old. Ted Karras is another option. He played OG last season for the rival Patriots but as we all know, he played C for us here in 2020 and played well enough. Who knows if Karras would be willing to come back. If wellok at OT, Terron Armstead would be tops, both in talent and $$$. Cam Robinson from the Jaguars would be a younger and less expensive option. I hope we don’t look for an OT as I’ve mentioned.
Besides the O-line, we need to upgrade our WR corps. I don’t want top tier, address the best in the draft, but a nice 2nd tier WR is possible. We’re not a Davante Adams away from the SB so spend wisely here. Christian Kirk from the Cardinals is a nice talent. Others here have fallen for Byron Pringle of the Chiefs. I worry a bit about those 3rd, 4th and 5th option guys. Plays break down in KC and Mahomes is flushed and the defense naturally rolls to Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce so of course guy like Pringle will either be in single or coverage or even possibly uncovered. We kind of saw the same thing with Sammy Watkins when he was with the Chiefs. Now Kirk played mostly in the slot, but he’s young and talented. D.J. Chark is a guy who has feasted on the perimeter and is a big bodied, agile player. 6’4 200, coming off a fractured ankle injury which should affect his playing career. He’s a 4.34 40 guy with a tremendous 40″ vertical. I’d say Chark would be number one target at WR, he’s been productive in a less than ideal offensive situation in Jacksonville. There’s also JuJu Smith-Schuster who had tremendous early success in his career at Pittsburgh, but has since been pushed back into the shadows by receivers like Chase Claypool and Dionte Johnson. Could a change of scenery jump-start JuJu? JuJu is a tough, fight for the ball type of receiver with less than ideal speed but good athleticism and ability.th Chark and Juju are only 25.
I’m going to cover the 2022 NFL Draft and in particular our needs in a future article. For now I’m going to leave you with my Free Agency wants, since there is Free Agency before the draft, and then of course, after the draft where a whole host of players are released and then become available once teams shuffle their rosters post draft. We’re one of the top 5 in cap space available so if we choose not to take my advice and go out and spend top money, we have it at approximately $67.5M. Let’s hope our guy Chris Grier gets the first part of the equation right so we go into the draft with better flexibility to make this team better.

What does -200 mean

It’s my patience for this franchise at the moment

The Money Line: Odds for a game based on $1.00. A “minus” (-) preceding the number indicates the team is a favorite. A “plus” (+) preceding the number indicates the team is an underdog.
Bet No. Team Line Total Money Line
101 Jets 40 + 160
102 Dolphins -6 – 180
The Dolphins’ odds are -180, meaning an $18 bet would win $10 for a return of $28. The Jets’ odds are +160, meaning a $10 bet would win $16 for a return of $26.
You guys are killin me
-200 simple means every $2 you bet you win $1
The minus is the favorite, plus us underdog
Is it just me or do all three “candidates” above look like they had their lunch money taken from them in middle school?
That’s why they make great HCs, they had to use their brains instead of their brawn

Well as we wait for news on Dolphins
I have some good news
I just closed on my apartment in NYC. It’s officially my apartment now.
Congratulations! 🍻
Congrats Piggy!
Straw, sticks or bricks?
LOL
When is the party?
I thought you just bought a place in Queens?
I thought that too. He’s got some ‘splainin’ to do. 😂
The heat just shut off for the first time in weeks at my house. It’s so quiet. Too quiet…I’m sure I’m about to be murdered.
Maybe I’ve been watching too many true crime documentaries?? 🤔🧐 🔪
I can also find just as many tweets that Harbaugh is the next coach but let’s hope not
Most of the reports I see on Harbaugh to Miami are from people I’m not aware of. I don’t see Ian Rapoport or Adam Schefter, guys like that reporting it.
Armando fwiw
Yeah but you would think by now the other guys I mentioned would be in the know.
Bricks Herd
Tim, I did buy a place in Queens, that is exactly what I’m referring to. I bought a condo in Astoria Queens
I don’t k ow if this makes it easier for you guys
But this map shows all the neighborhoods in Queens
You can see the East River separates Manhattan from Queens
Oh okay, so you were renting and now you bought it?
Yeah
Actually it’s complicated
The building I live is a new construction building
They were built as rentals in 2013 with the intent to convert to condo
Converting to a co do is a crazy process for buildings in nyc
But I signed a contract and moved in pending the closing and paid rent until The closing
The closing was Today. I’ve been leaving here since May
My closing was postponed for months because the process is crazy
They expected it to happen in August and had to push it back and finally last week they were able to start closing on all the sales and my closing was today
Gotcha!
Congrats!
Well that won make it easier

Could you imagine if Tua played like Mahomes in the final minutes and OT we would have murdered him

I hear ya, but let’s not forget how badly they both (Ian and Adam) botched Tom Brady’s so-called retirement last week. The media is not to be trusted any longer. Until official, anything is possible.
Well everyone was reporting that so it was out there somehow. The NFLN were discussing it all day and that’s the league’s network. I find Ian and Adam to be reputable in what they do.
As do I, regarding Ian and Adam. Just sayin’ that nobody is infallible and we’ll all know when it’s official.
You don’t find it strange that they haven’t even mentioned it but most of the reports are people nobody knows?

IMO and experience with Ian and Adam, they don’t do the discovery of new stories and rumors. Rather, they report on the facts. They generally won’t report on rumor mill material… that’s when they look like fools (see last week regarding Brady).
Don’t trust ANYTHING until it’s been confirmed.
And in today’s world, you almost have to vet the breaker of such news. Believe nothing ya hear, and only half of what ya see.
Agreed that’s why I find it strange. Other rumors about coaches had legs and ended up being true. You would think the Harbaugh story would have more legs with the bigger networks.
I just came across an article on Mike McDaniel and they mentioned he’s a minority. I did not know that. Not that it matters.
“Let’s assume McDaniel is hired. First off, the 49ers would receive multiple third-round picks as McDaniel is a minority. Second, he’s never called plays, so I’m curious if McDaniel would serve as Miami’s offensive coordinator.”
https://www.ninersnation.com/2022/1/31/22911410/49ers-head-coaching-search-dolphins-mike-mcdaniel
A minority? The article doesn’t even go on to specify what that even means. I’m curious…
he’s biracial
SB7, right that’s all I could find out about it that he’s biracial. I just wasn’t aware of that. So he would be considered a Rooney Rule interview.
I don’t see we would hire a coach just to work with our WR, no matter how much I like waddle that’s kind of crazy
100% agreed. I thought it to be crazy as well.
I don’t think they were suggesting it’s only about Waddle. Just an idea to maximize his talent.

Pretty sure that’s what is being implied, LOL. But who, what, when, where, why, and how? This is the very first time ANYTHING has been stated about McDaniel being bi-racial.
Evidence?
Well I don’t have access to his ancestry.com account, but it’s been reported that he’s biracial. Someone wrote a hit piece about him being another white guy getting opportunities over black candidates and was instantly checked. There’s links all over the internet.
I just did a quick check and found NOTHING about the matter, period. Interesting, is it not?
Yep!
Who cares if he is a minority or what race he is?
The NFL cares, because there could be draft picks surrendered/awarded.
And I agree with ya, 100%, Bookman. Who cares? But, the NFL cares. SMH
What M13 said. It doesn’t matter in the big scheme of things but it does when it comes to the Rooney Rule.
M13, it’s compensatory picks not anyone giving up picks.
Got ya, man. Thanks!
MF13,
I’m not sure what’s so curious. All you have to do is google Mike McDaniel Biracial and a slew of things come up.
https://www.google.com/search?q=mike+mcdaniel+biracial&rlz=1CAGUZK_enUS973US973&oq=mike+mcdaniel+biracial&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l2j69i61.7890j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
https://www.foxnews.com/media/deadspin-mike-mcdaniel-biracial-white-guy
None of this offers any evidence of anything. You know that, right? I’m NOT trying to be a smartass, but the closest it comes is that McDaniel had once “said” he was bi-racial.
So do the 49ers get compensatory picks based strictly upon what somebody said?
EVIDENCE, my guy… it’s lacking.
lol, okay.
Well he was relatively unknown until his name popped up as a candidate during the Head Coach search. We’ll eventually find out. I don’t care what race he is just that it has Rooney Rule implications.
Hey! IF the evidence comes out, well then alright. But until then, what’s to stop any other potential hire to claim s/he is bi-racial? And does it always have to be about BLACK?
Roger Goodell set himself up for this kind of scrutiny. There will now be mandatory DNA testing for all potential coaching hires!!! And we’ll find out that the Elizabeth Warren’s of the world (1/1,048th Indian) were LYING.
The NFL is getting bad. JMO
Here’s an article on the compensatory picks for hiring minority candidates.
https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-owners-pass-resolution-rewarding-teams-for-developing-minority-coaches-execs
Seriously, good link, Tim!
But inquiring minds want to know what the compensation would be for an Eskimo who had voluntary gender reassignment, loves to play twiddly-winks after a daily 4:17 AM breakfast of flies on rice, drinks three and 1/3 raspberry milkshakes daily, cusses out his/her great-great-great-great grandmother at 2:42 PM daily for about 15 minutes at the graveyard, and then eats a 10-day old pot pie with orangey-yellow fungus on it… EVERY SINGLE DAY.
For sure, that individual should warrant a 1st round compensatory pick if promoted, right?!! This is the world of Roger Goodell! 😉
That was kind of weird. LOL
It’s a 3rd round compensatory pick, the highest pick it can be. The Rooney Rule is in place for all the right reasons. Yes we all know some teams just do it because they have to when they already know who they really want. But what it does do is get minority candidates a chance to interview and impress. That’s what happened with the Steelers and Mike Tomlin. He wasn’t a favorite at the time but he blew them away.
When you mentioned Elizabeth Warren, just remember she’s a politician and a bit off the wall on a lot of things. She’s a strange bird. It’s not the same deal in the NFL with hiring practices.
By the way I found out not too long ago I’m 4% Spaniard on my Father’s side and 96% Irish. 😉
Hello I am Inigo Montoya you killed my father prepare to die
LOL @ Ken
Funny movie! “Stop saying that!” LOL
“I do not think this word means what you think it means.”
Have you ever thought about piracy?
M13, do you think coaches and personnel executives are going to start lying about their racial heritage? It doesn’t mean they get hired, but if the do their former team gets rewarded. It doesn’t benefit the coach or personnel executives. The team interviewing them isn’t trying to give other teams extra picks. I think you went off track there.
Do I think Belicheat* deflated balls to give an unfair advantage to his team? Do I think Belicheat* secretly videotaped his opponents?
YES… the NFL is probably one of the most competitive environments on the planet. I don’t believe we can put anything past the competitive advantages these folks do to get an upper hand.
What’s the competitive advantage for hiring a minority candidate? The team hiring them just gets the person, nothing else.
Maybe he’s just Bi??? 😉
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
LOL
Gotta run
I’ll leave y’all with this: who among us (or ANYBODY in the NFL, for that matter) knew that Mike McDaniel was “bi-racial”? Answer: NOBODY.
I honestly don’t even CARE, one way or the other… I think y’all already know that, especially coming from me, right?!!
It’s just weird at this point being it’s unsubstantiated, and that it’s coming up at the last second before we hire our next HC. This is SO Miami Dolphins! LOL, SMH!!! 😀
Okay you’re leaving. But what makes this so Miami Dolphins? They’re hiring him for his football knowledge not because of his race. It has nothing to do with the team hiring him. His previous team gets compensated if he’s considered a minority and we all know why now. The 49ers got compensated for Robert Saleh too.
I am disquieted by this whole coaching search. I didn’t / don’t like any of the options. Including and perhaps especially Harbaough. I’m not sure if I am just jaded and worn out by this franchise or if all the options really were unimpressive.
I just feel like we are going to be here again in three years.
You are expected to be on this blog more often than every 3 years
Yeah because you keep summoning it. Stop that! LOL
You are Phin fan. You will continue to be here so we can wallow in a communal misery
LOL Tim, I didn’t summon the rebuild. If I had Grier would be gone.
I liked Flores (before rumors of him not communicating with his staff) But I just wanted him to get the right coaches in place.
I hear ya!
The entire experience this time is akin to selecting the color of the casing on the colonoscope is.
going to be.
NFL owners pass resolution rewarding teams for developing minority coaches, execs
That’s stupid, it hurts the minority, not only does his new team lose picks, but surely it comes into consideration, when hiring him, if there’s 2 equal candidates teams surely aren’t taking the minority
Rosanne Rosannadanna moment, didn’t catch the comp part, nevermind
Nobody loses picks.
So from a football perspective, if we hire Mike McDaniel he can’t just be a running game guru. He needs to be a teacher and a communicator in all phases of the game. Maybe he’s more of a coach than what we see written about him. Maybe he really understands the game.
It’s kind of funny, we always think this guy is defense and that guy is offense. But in reality which either side of the ball you’re on, you need to know both sides of the ball because you compete against it. When you become a HC you need to be the leader of the entire team.
Can McDaniel do that? I really don’t know. Nobody does yet. Maybe he’s a great people person which is a big deal as a HC. Back in the day, not so much, but in the era we live in now it’s huge.
First time Head Coaches are unknown, but when you look at the history of first time Head Coaches, most of them have been successful over guys who have bounced around a few times. Experience as a HC is good, but it doesn’t equate to winning. Just look at this past weekend.
Who were the Head Coaches in the conference championship games? Andy Reid is the two time HC who’s had success, the other three were all first time as HC – Sean McVay (2nd Super Bowl appearance), Kyle Shanahan (one Super Bowl appearance) and Zac Taylor for the first time.
Just some food for thought.
So if we hire McDaniel and then 3 years later we fire him. Some team hires him. Do we get a 6th RD compensatory pick?
No!
Where did that come from Mike?
Lol
As long as he is still a minority, lol
Steve – I figured we’d get half the compensation since he’s half.
I knew JBB
I’m probably in the minority with this, but I think you should also get picks anytime you fire a majority.
Is it JBB hour
Another way to look at the odds, if it’s a minus, put a 1 in the numerator, so -200 would be 1/2
If it’s a plus, put a 1 in the denominator, so +200 would be 2/1
It’s setup as a %, so remove the 2 rightmost zeroes
I know some of you are just joking around. But it’s about the team that developed a minority coach or personnel guy who was hired as a 1st time HC or GM. Once they move on from that there is no more compensatory picks.
Another reason for Harbaugh is the quality coordinators he said he’d bring in
We all bitched about Flores not having quality ones…
Let’s just hire Harbaugh already so we can start preparing for the playoffs in ’23
Don’t you find it strange that the Harbaugh rumors are not coming from the major NFL news networks? It’s the Joe Shmoe’s of the world.
Doesn’t matter, he’s out there, he’s available, and we need a HC. Isn’t that enough?
No it’s not. He’s alive but is it real or people creating BS? LOL
Harbaugh will get the team better then it will implode. Just my opinion.
I don’t really care at this point tho. Just for the love of God let this next one be the one
Just read a tweet that in the Mickey D interview, he emphasized making the passing game quicker. People are complaining about 5 yard passes now. Does he want 2 yard passes?
I saw a report from some guy Escobar Johansson and he said MickD wants Tua to be more patient and let the routes develop. 😉
Why that’s totally contrary to the tweet I saw. How is that possible? lol
I will say that this weekends games gave me a much higher opinion of the WR screen!
It’s evident that it actually can work with the right personnel / timing!
It all starts with blocking. Any system. You can’t run anything if you can’t block it.
The Rams defense stopped the vaunted 49ers running game in a big game when they struggled against it in many recent games. Jimmy G didn’t elevate his game, it always comes down to the players executing. A good coach can guide you but the players have to perform. The 49ers didn’t step up in the big spot. The same can be said for the Chiefs and their loaded team.
Tim – This is the quote I’m talking about . . .
ESPN’s Jordan Schultz reports Mike McDaniel’s Dolphins’ interview spanned much of the day, with McDaniel stressing to Dolphins GM Chris Grier his plans on how to unlock QB Tua Tagovailoa (wants a quicker passing game), and believes he can win with Tua.
Schultz reports Several NFL executives have told him 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel is the best fit for the Dolphins’ HC job, with one saying he thought McDaniel would get the job. Miami, Schultz is told, is enamored with McDaniel’s innovative running game and how he’d maximize rising star Jaylen Waddle.
If true, not sure how we can do better
Interview spanned much of the day

When that guy wrote that hit piece, he was instantly checked by multiple people. Although it’s not front and center news, many people knew about it. Do we need to fly to Wakanda and secure his birth certificate as proof?
Lol at flying to wakanda
Thanks for the link.
Honestly he doesn’t appear bi-racial but I sympathize bc some people have said I don’t look Latino before. Race can be pretty complicated it’s also interesting too. The entire Western Hemisphere is full of people with diverse backgrounds. I really appreciate him talking publicly about it, knowing that people will doubt it. Good for him.
Sometimes he looks it and sometimes he doesn’t, but like you said, race can be pretty complicated.
I would like to go to Wakanda. I would like a pet Rhino

I don’t know how long his contract is?
But he’d still be stuck in Tampa if returning

He’s got lots of dead money going forward, they must’ve restructured him before 2021 season

How does McD being bi-racial affect any of us as Dolphin’s fans?
It doesn’t
Why did it come up here?
Someone posted about how SF will get a better compensatory pick because he is biracial but that doesn’t affect us at all
Zip, zero, zilch
It doesn’t really IMO
It was just a topic that came up
Replied to your McD interview post Mike
Seems he may be the best choice short term and long term, probably keeps the D staff
Seems like he plays well with others
So by announcing now I guess Brady doesn’t care about that 15 mil, or maybe the owner told him to retire whenever and he’ll still get that money as a thank you.

————————————————-
Only because people make it complicated. Its pretty straight forward and pointless if we just didn’t overcomplicate it. My picture on twitter is an xray of two hands shaking, one of my first observations working with X-Ray images is you can tell a lot just looking at the images, but the one thing you cant tell at all is race. When you talk about humans being humans, and us all being the same, its never more apparent in those images.
Whoever our HC is, hope he knows something about FAs, or at least knows what he wants
Hate to leave it up to Grier
With 33/34 players already on the roster likely to be on the team in 2022 plus about 7 draft picks, that leaves about 13 FAs, some of which will be guys like Ogbah, Hollins, Needham, Gesicki, Smythe, Riley, Johnson, Eguavoen.
We may only need 5 more, I’d say go after quality
Seems hard to believe we only go after 5 FAs from other teams, we have the money to upgrade
We could save 8.1m getting rid of Davis and Rowe, not that we need the money, but to upgrade, and Davis more than Rowe
Our roster is at 45 now with all the futures contracts they have given. Most of the futures contracts are camp fodder though with some potential to make it to the PS.
I am right with you on about 5 FA’s from other teams. Hopefully 2 OL.
I’m ok with only 5, and keeping most of our FAs I mentioned, as long as the 5 are starters and/or big contributors
2 OL
1 WR
1ILB
1QB
But we have enough money to upgrade some other positions and probably will
I’d move on from Davis and a few others
Looking at what our roster could be next year, with some new FAs, if we get the right coach, we should be pretty good
McD innovating the O, last year’s top 5 rookies continuing to progress, a thumper ILB, Sanders kicking in an even year, new punter
My maternal grandmother was 100% Mohawk Iroquois and my paternal grand parents on both sides were each 1/2 Oneida Iroquois. So my mother is 1/2 Mohawk and my dad is 2 quarters Oneida (halves from different halves) My mother’s father was Irish and my fathers parents were both of mixed French / Oneida decent.
I am as white as print paper, am I bi-racial? Or does Bi-racial only count if you have immediate African decent. (we ALL descended from African stock if you go back far enough)
I have been threatening to get one of those DNA tests for years now but haven’t gotten around to it because it really doesn’t matter.
Exactly, unless you’re going to use it to play the system like Pocahontas
Just sign up for Maury Povich
Lol, haven’t heard that name in a while
In the 90s I worked at a casino in Tahoe, they had a celebrity golf tournament every summer
We’d also have college students come in to work during the summer
One of these college students working as a waitress comes back into the kitchen all excited saying, I just saw Maury Povich
Yeah, it really doesn’t matter. My sister did the DNA thing and we have roots going back to Africa, Aztec Indian, Dutch and German as well. Ridiculous it comes down to pigment.
So is the fan expectations playoffs or bust for whoever we bring in? especially if it’s Harbaugh?
Absolutely
We should’ve made it this year, add in something like NEs FA overhaul and we could have a similar result
I’m just hoping we sign a HC…
#loweredexpectations
Yeah, I am at the point where I can’t get excited about any possible HC candidate. I just want to see results.
“Fan Expectations”
Might be the root of all our problems! 😉
Of course, but as a fan, how do you not get excited with a new innovative HC (assuming McD), lots of money in FA, a returning D that’s pretty good, a QB on the rise, any other punter?
Fans have no control over the outcomes of anything, the only root they’re a part of is rooting for the team.
I did the AncestryDNA test, my mom, sister and niece. I’m into genealogy—yes I know—nerdy! 🤓
What we found out is the ‘folklore’ of our background is incorrect. We had always been told my grandfather on my mom’s side was partially Native American. Our results—0% Native American. And don’t be thinking my dear sweet Granny was messing around. Results showed our connection to both my grandparents Just not the ethnicity we had though 😂
I’m a dog that people say we come from wolves, but who’s to say wolves didn’t come from African dogs? I’m now confused so I’m just going to chase my tail and chase parked cars and leave a yard cigar on my neighbors yard 🐕
Oh and by the way, last time I checked I was American 🇺🇸
How at the moon
He’s a dog, not an indian😉
Marathon Miami Dolphins interview with McDaniels likely leading to hire
by Brian Miller3m ago
First time I’m agreeing with him
If he’s going to be our HC, which all signs are pointing to, Miller might want to learn the guy’s name, lol.
Lol
Lol at the thought of Harbaugh going to Minnesota, being they weren’t very good this year, are 17m over the cap, and Cousins counts 45m on the 2022 cap with 45m in dead money
I say every year I’m not falling for the hype, then we have what I think is a good draft and FA, and hear how great some players look in camps, then I get hooked back in
We always win the offseason
This is a big one to win
Getting the right HC, and spending the right way in FA is very important to Fins future
Winning FA is meaningless it hasn’t done shit for us in the past
Ken, we picked up Ogbah in FA. I think that was a good pickup and “done shit” for us!
Also picked up Jones who locked down the boundary across from X.
Not that we have not gotten some good players but it hasn’t resulted in us being yearly playoff contenders. Suh was supposed to be the missing piece he wasn’t. Wallace was supposed to be the missing piece he wasn’t. Albert was supposed to be the missing piece he wasn’t. We make big splash s in FA but it doesn’t translate to winning
Good teams win by building through the draft plugging holes in FA
good point by Alain Poupart;
McDaniel’s five years, in terms of rushing yards per attempt, the 49ers have finished 17th, 12th, 9th, 16th and 16th. In terms of rushing yards per game, which has more to do with number of carries, the 49ers have been 21st, 13th, 2nd (in 2019), 15th and 7th.
Do these number really scream, HAVE TO HIRE THIS GUY!?
No, but it’s not about the numbers over a full season, and we don’t need to be a top 10 running team
49ers made it to the SB 2 years ago on the heels of the running game, they can run the ball at the most opportune time as we’ve seen Deebo and others do, and when they do they’re tough to beat
Garo Polo lived off of the running game, other times, when the run was shutdown he couldn’t get it done
Hello Mr. Elephant, I see you hiding behind that post.
I am going to address the elephant in the room, even though it is trying to hide.
Why haven’t we heard about Miami talking to Harbaugh? They guy had his second interview with the Vikings (this one in person ON NATIONAL SIGNING DAY!!) isn’t that enough evidence to show that he is serious about leaving Michigan? It should be enough for Ross to get around the stupid, hand cuffing statement he made at Flo’s firing press conference, that he “wouldn’t be the person who took Harbaugh away from Michigan”
I wonder what the issue is!?
Maybe that Harbaugh is an unhinged dick
LOL, I don’t like his personality and think that if it’s true that Flores got fired because he doesn’t play well with others in the sand box, then Harbaugh would DEFINATLY not be a fit, but we all know of Ross’ love affair with him. It just seems very odd to let him go to the Vikings without a play at him.
Also according to Omar there has been “some communication between Dolphins and Harbaugh
What Ross said in the press conference, was just a CYA, he left it open to still bring him in
Seems McD may be the choice anyways, he checks all the boxes, except HC experience
I agree that it was a sufficiently vague meaningless statement
Hi
You Sir are an Elephant RIDER, I wasn’t talking to you! LOL
But Hello anyway.
Where she goes I go!
I think we’re a terrible fit for Harbaugh and just because Steve loves Jim, doesn’t mean Jim loves Steve back. The Vikings are a much better fit with a little worse talent. Let’s count the ways we don’t fit.
Grier- what if Harbaugh doesn’t want him as boss? He’d want full control and Grier might not fit with him. They have no connections.
Ross- has fired 3 HCs and none have lasted 4 years? Success doesn’t keep you. You have to communicate well to HC here? Does Harbaugh do this well or would he want that stipulation? I doubt it. Too many possible stipulations.
Connections- Harbaugh has no connections to this area or anyone on this team. What would bring him here? No taxes, salary, warm weather, bringing Miami back maybe? Are these really a massive selling point at this time in his life?
I don’t see it. Everyone thinks that just because there’s only 32 positions and because Ross loves Harbaugh that we have some kind of first dibs ability or ace in the hole. That’s just not true. This place fills no special need or desire in Harbaugh’s life other than maybe proving he could finally bring Miami back. That’s it. I don’t know if that’s more than Minnesota offers but I doubt it.
Just to play devils advocate;
Miami has the most cap space in the league
The Vikings are way over their cap and need to shed salary before the start of the league year.
Miami has a young ascending QB
The Vikings have to pay Kirk Cousins 45 MILLION this season (with a $45M cap hit) and he is a UFA next season
The Vikings have a GM too, they just hired him. Who’s to say HE wants to give up power to Jim?
Good points. Harbaugh knows and has worked with the Minny GM from what I’ve read, and he may not think Tua is ascending would be my only counters.
Senior Bowl is underway. I wonder who the Dolphins have attending?
Not me this year.
New Age – perplexed by your post. What specifically about our team besides the power structure (which is up to Ross anyway) is not a fit? I know we think Ross is old and feeble but if he interviews Harbaugh, he knows what he’s getting into. I don’t see a fit issue
Ross is likely not long for the ownership of this team so what ever hard on he has for Harbaugh may not survive his transfer of ownership
Sounds like Harbaugh is trying to leverage Miami, Minnesota and Michigan against each other to maximize his payday. Not like he has ever done that before
Mike E,
Power structure seems to be Harbaugh’s biggest concern, but Ross’s record with his HCs is terrible. I don’t see where we fit better than any of the other franchises for Harbaugh or why he’d take it outside of the benefits Rock mentioned. Ken seems to have the right of it but we’re not OPTION 1 and everyone else is looking in from the outside. I think we are the ones on the outside.
Maybe we can hire Harbaugh AND McDaniel and have dueling HCs. Then, just like in the movie deliverance, our team can have a good wholesome time with comradery and friendship to be had by all…
I like this idea! They can alternate fistbumps upstairs depending on which side of the ball they run that week?
Look a young Joe Biden!
TEAM PICKS
29: R1 P29 C Tyler Linderbaum – Iowa
50: R2 P18 WR John Metchie – Alabama
98: R3 P34 WR Jalen Tolbert – South Alabama
118: R4 P16 LB Brandon Smith – Penn State
122: R4 P20 RB Dameon Pierce – Florida
157: R5 P15 EDGE DeAngelo Malone – Western Kentucky
179: R5 P37 FB Jeremiah Hall – Oklahoma
200: R6 P21 K Cade York – LSU
222: R7 P3 P Jordan Stout – Penn State
Linderbaum drops to me EVERY freaking mock I do. I have to take him at that point don’t I?
yes
I like Brandon Smith also.
I don’t think Tolbert will still be there in the 3rd. even if he is from a small school. He will go in the top 70 picks IMO
I just heard they are going to promote internally. Our Co-Coordinators are BOTH going to be promoted to Co-HC……
👍👍
That reminds me, they were both so good we had to have them both to keep other teams from getting them. Did either of them get an interview invite? 🤔

I just spent 4 hours in the car today listening to talk radio. All the media here is saying that Harbaigh to MN is pretty much a done deal, for whatever that’s worth. He’s actually coming to MN for another interview on national signing day, which is kind of weird, and folks are taking that as an indication that he is moving on from Michigan. Just reporting from the Tundra!
Have you guys heard about the crazy shit going on with Brian Flores, the Broncos, the Giants and guess who… Stephen Ross. We’ve got drama once again and this is ugly stuff.
What color is Grier? Lol
It does involve race and a lot of other bad stuff.
If the stuff about Stephen Ross is true, those of you that can’t stand him might get your wish. It’s too involved for me to write about it all as I’ve just heard about it in the last half hour listening to the Carton + Roberts show. I’m sure you can find news on it.
Brian Flores is considering a lawsuit against the NFL is probably the best route to find out about it. Bill Belichick text messages is the smoking gun. It’s crazy!
Just reading about it now. Guy must have flipped his lid.
I haven’t
I think Metchie is too slow to be the WR we need.
Dameon Pierce would be a good Day 3 or UDFA.
Now I have. And I’m glad and can see why they fired him. I would love to see the proof that Ross offered to pay him more to lose or recruit. He’s just using all the BS the media was putting out. As for the Rooney Rule piece….what a fucking victim. “Boo hoo, you picked someone else🥲’
Brian “Kaepernick” Flores
Perfect description. Playing that race card to the hilt!
There’s more to it then that.
What was the allusion to Ross about? I read about the text and the Giants, but didn’t see Ross mentioned other than being mad because Flores won when he wanted to tank or something.
You seemed to indicate there is a lot more than that…
LOL, yeah, I’m sure Belicheat ‘accidentally’ sent that text.
“Hmm, only a couple more years till I get the wins record…”
“Eff you Giants for 2 SB losses.”
“Eff you NFL for spygate and deflategate.”
“Eff you Flores for beating me up while in Miami.”
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33194862/brian-flores-sues-nfl-others-former-miami-dolphins-coach-alleges-racism-hiring-practices
Flores burning bridges as fast as he can. Man is dedicated.
Hmm, lists us as one of the teams he’s suing, but it still doesn’t say exactly what our team was supposed to have done…other than fire him.
The Giants are in a bad spot if they offered Daboll the job before interviewing Flores. It basically means the Flores interview was just to comply with the Rooney Rule when they already decided on Daboll. Lots of crazy stuff involved in this.
Well thank heavens the guy we’re about to hire is biracial… 🙄
Kong, if Ross was asking Flores to lose so they could draft Burrow and even offered him 100K for every loss, that goes against the integrity of the league. Another part of the story is that Ross invited Flores to his yacht to set up a meeting with Tua to work things out between them and once Flores realized what was going on he bailed. We then fired Flores.
It’s one reason I think we’re a shitshow and why Harbaugh doesn’t want to come here. It’s all hearsay though unless he has proof. Either way, Flores is a vengeful, bitter bitch of a man. He’s a racist and I hope nothing but horrible results for the rest of his racist life.
Ah, those were the details I was asking about. I didnt see the 100k thing anywhImo. Hope he had proof…
Not sure about suing for racial discrimination though. The whole setting up a meeting with flores and tua to work things out and Flores bailing is enough grounds for firing imo.
I agree about the yacht thing, that was just weird. The 100K thing if true, the league will demand Ross to sell the team. The Giants and Broncos are the ones who are involved with violating the Rooney Rule.
Rooney rule just says you have to interview a minority, Giants did that
He can’t have it both ways, he wants them to interview minorities, then cries they only did because of Rooney rule
Well this is awesome! I was afraid we wouldn’t have any drama surrounding our team this offseason once we hire our coach.
Looks like we’re good to go!
It’s unbelievable isn’t it?
I just wish watching bowling or go fish tournaments was as fun as football. My leisure time would be a lot less drama-filled, lol.
LOL
The lawsuit also accuses Ross of pressuring Flores to violate the NFL’s tampering rules to recruit a “prominent quarterback” after the 2019 season. Tom Brady was a “prominent quarterback” whose contract was set to void in March after the 2019 season, though the lawsuit doesn’t name him specifically.
He’s just a product of society today, and what a POS
He’s done head coaching in the league, no one is going to hire him after this, except maybe Robert Crap as OD calls him
The suit continues to say
“Flores’ lawsuit alleges that after his initial refusal, Ross set up a not-so-coincidental run-in with the aforementioned quarterback. From the suit:
After the end of the 2019 season, Mr. Ross began to pressure Mr. Flores to recruit a prominent quarterback in violation of League tampering rules. Mr. Flores repeatedly refused to comply with these improper directives. Undeterred, in the winter of 2020, Mr. Ross invited Mr. Flores onto a yacht for lunch. Shortly after he arrived, Mr. Ross told Mr. Flores that the prominent quarterback was “conveniently” arriving at the marina. Obviously, Mr. Ross had attempted to “set up” a purportedly impromptu meeting between Mr. Flores and the prominent quarterback. Mr. Flores refused the meeting and left the yacht immediately. After the incident, Mr. Flores was treated with disdain and held out as someone who was noncompliant and difficult to work with
From that point forward, Mr. Flores was ostracized and ultimately he was fired. He was subsequently defamed throughout the media and the League as he was labeled by the Dolphins brass as someone who was difficult to work with. This is reflective of an all too familiar “angry black man” stigma that is often casted upon Black men who are strong in their morals and convictions while white men are coined as passionate for those very same attributes.”
Thanks for the info, Naples. So it was about Brady, not Tua.
Also, it sounds like maybe Brady was on board and makes me think we were probably the team Brady was talking about when he said “you guys are going to go with that m^therf^cker”.
The suit is not alleging that Ross wanted to mend fences between Tua and Flores, as Tua had not even been drafted at that time.
I don’t have problems with him airing Ross dirt, but I have real problems with his racist viewpoints while doing it. Given every opportunity but when he fails, it’s because the white man held him down! That’s his only flaw! The white man!
The yacht meeting was supposedly this year.
I am quoting the lawsuit which says the yacht meeting was in the winter of 2020, before the draft.
Okay I was just going by what I’ve been hearing the last hour.
Hope he’s got solid proof or it’s a whole lot of “WAAAAHHH”
Every interview I saw with Flores, while he was our coach, I thought of him as big daddy dirt pile, just standing there with that stupid look on his face
Glad this shit came out, he won’t coach this year and take our players or coaches, and maybe Ross is forced to sell
Never a dull moment
I’ve got good news though.
I shaved 5 strokes off my golf score in the last month.
👍
Steve, that was kind of my thought on the Rooney rule. The giants should be able to say that Daboll was their favorite going into the hiring process and they did due diligence on other potential hires including the Rooney rule interviews.

_______
LMAO
I was thinking the same thing and LMAO as well
In several articles I read, they said that in order to comply with the rooney rule they needed to interview 2 minority candidates. Not sure if that was changed or a misprint that kept spreading. A lot of articles like to quote the same things without proof reading.
Maybe one of lawyers can answer this: can the giants say they had pretty much settled on Daboll from the start and still fulfilled the Rooney rule with their interviews or are there semantics that need to be upheld, i.e. they cant use terms like ‘already decided’ prior to the Rooney interview.
Best to uphold the semantics. The intent of the Rooney rule is to increase minority hiring. In theory it should be a meaningful interview
Here’s my thing. The Rooney rule says that teams are required to give interviews. It doesn’t say anything that the interviews are guarantees of consideration.
Right, but offering someone the job before you interviewed the minority candidate is not complying with the Rooney Rule. That’s the problem. He had no chance for the job at that point, the decision was already made therefore the Flores interview was not legitimate.
If that’s able to be proven yes I agree with ya but I’m seriously doubting that it is.
I’m going by the reports that’s all.
Yeah, you can’t prove an interview guaranteed consideration anyways. I mean you get the interview and then you get the job of they liked you best. Do you ever get the details when they didn’t go with you? No. You just get told we went with another applicant.
Any Steve Ross fans left in the building/blog?
Similarly any Flores fans left in the building
Judging by how fast this was filed Flores was planning this for a while
That’s absolutely what I was thinking
Well he’s right about one thing!
He will never coach again for gutting the franchise that was paying him.
Nobody else will take the risk of being the next one!
Well it’s one of those situations where now that he’s made that clean if it winds up happening he can claim that has proof that he was right and he was being discriminated against. Kind of a way to prove racism by calling everyone who disagrees with you a racist
