I wish I could adequately share my excitement with all my friends and readers here. I hope by the time you finish reading you can feel it through my writing. It’s not that this team is the front runner for Super Bowl LVII, it’s that we’re actually in the running. It’s that our team has made a commitment this season acquiring assets to be a legitimate competitor in the AFC. Last week I was taking in all the moves and thinking to myself this team got a few nice players, a collection of adequate players but nothing exceptional. I felt we needed some top level talent. What a difference a week makes! We signed via Free Agency the top OT on the market, Terron Armstead formerly of the New Orleans Saints. Yes, he’s a LEFT TACKLE, and Tua is left handed, which means Armstead won’t be protecting Tua’s blindside. Doesn’t matter, we needed a high level player on the O-line and just thinking of Connor Williams and Terron Armstead on that left side is exciting. Both are excellent run blockers. Then the blockbuster dropped, and it happened so fast I couldn’t believe it. I’m getting rifled with texts from friends and fans of other teams letting me know that the Dolphins are in the running for WR Tyreek Hill. Who expected anything like that? BOOM! He’s here for the next 4 years for $120M. What???
The Miami Dolphins offense is going to be known as the LEGION OF ZOOM

So friends, as disappointed as I was last week, I couldn’t be more optimistic about our team. The totality of all the moves make it clear we wanted speed on the field, and with newly acquired Raheem Mostert, Tyreek Hill added to Jaylen Waddle, that’s some legit horsepower out there. You can read all the negatives about giving up all that draft capital and paying exorbitant amounts of money to a smallish WR, but F all those know nothings who write and say those things. The Raiders are brilliant for giving up loads of draft capital for Davante Adams and paying him, but the Dolphins are desperate. You could easily make the case that Tyreek Hill is as good or better than Davante Adams. Alright, so in reality, it all comes down to the prevalent belief that Tua just ain’t it, just isn’t good enough. I don’t think there’s a player in this league, possible league history who is judged as unfairly as Tua is. I can’t say whether he’s a top 10 talent at the QB position but please judge the man by what he had to play with. Worst O-line in football, a revolving door of injured receivers, no run game, and the proof of all that was how much worse and established NFL starter, Jacoby Brissett performed in Tua’s stead while he was injured. There seems to be no perspective at all when judging young Tua and I just hope with all my heart that this kid makes them all look stupid. For the most part, he can’t really win, because if he succeeds this season and the team wins, the new weapons will get the credit and Tua will just be a game manger surrounded by great players and a great HC. I can only pray they say that because we’ll be winning.
We all knew the offense was the unit that needed some TLC, and the Dolphins apparently agreed. While we managed to keep the defense intact, props to the Dolphins FO for making that happen, they really dug in to fix the offense. So just how does Tyreek Hill fit in with this offense. Just like in KC, just get him the damn ball. I don’t care if it’s a screen pass, a jet sweep, a 5 yard pass, 10 yard pass or a 50 yard bomb, just get him the ball and good things happen. He’s that dangerous receiver that absolutely must be accounted for at all times. You think Jaylen Waddle is excited? His 9.8 YPR is going to go up nicely with Hill in the lineup. You think Mike Gesicki is excited? BTW, both of those aforementioned receivers may see less targets, but I can almost guarantee you they will be making more big plays. Last year Will Fuller, AKA The Invisible Man was supposed to be the guy to take the top off the defense. That was the bottle rocket that went pffffffffffffffffft! It was such an unbalanced attack, it was the Penguin Show, Waddle getting 104 receptions with the next closest receiver being TE Mike Gesicki with 73.
The ball is going to be spread around a lot, and I’m sure WR Tyreek Hill will get his share of targets and receptions, as will Waddle and Gesicki, but remember all the RB’s we brought in here. First, Chase Edmonds, who’s averaged between 7-9 YPR, and our own Myles Gaskin who was one shy of 50 receptions. Raheem Mostert isn’t really used a receiver often but he’s so dangerous in space and finds angles and creases so quickly that he may get the ball more here in this offense. Ah, but keep in mind, we hired Mike McDaniel, run game coordinator. Mike loves to run, and although we don’t have a feature back per se, we have some guys that make big plays in Mostert, Edmonds and of course Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
OK, as Jen Psaki would say, let’s circle back to the O-line. Y’all know I felt we needed two quality guys, and I made it clear I wanted interior guys, expecting our talented young OT’s Austin Jackson and Liam Eichenberg to be reclamation projects of O-line Coach Matt Applebaum and Frank Smith. Instead, the Dolphins simply got the best OL available in Free Agency, LT Terron Armstead. Earlier and preceding the Armstead deal, the Dolphins picked up Connor Williams. Williams must be ecstatic that he’s going to be playing next to Terron Armstead. I don’t know if Michael Deiter is going to be our starting C, or if we look to the draft where we have significantly less capital, or possibly at post June 1st cuts for our new center. The right side of the line has yet to be determined but most definitely includes OL Robert Hunt. Whether he remains inside at RG or moves out to RT is still up in the air. One thing we know for certain, in possibly a symbolic move, is that Jesse Davis will NOT be the RT in 2022. If it were me, I’d leave Hunt at RG where he’s flourished, and make an open competition between young tackles Austin Jackson, Liam Eichenberg, Larnel Coleman and Robert Jones. Or as some have speculated here, maybe big man Solomon Kindley moves to RG and Robert Hunt is the new RT. All possible, but my thinking is that Solomon would have to be in tip top shape to play in this athletic offensive line scheme, where lots of movement is the plan. You have to move to fill a hole or gap, and you can’t be tardy or the play is blown up. I think Austin Jackson has a good shot and as I type that I can see M13 cringing about Jackson on Tua’s blind side. Eichenberg had mentioned last season he’s very comfortable at RT, so this competition should be a good one, and I feel we have enough knowledge there now with Applebaum at the helm, and with a couple of other guys with O-line experience to lean on.
Have we now increased the talent level on this team? CHECK! Have we brought in some game changers, playmakers? CHECK! Have we addressed the O-line? CHECK! The only negative I can muster right now is that I probably won’t watch Day 1 and 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft. It’s usually one of my favorites, until it actually happens and then most times I’m grumbling WTF under my breath, or actually screaming it. We still own picks #102 (RD3), pick #125 (RD4), pick #158 (RD5) and pick #225 (RD7). If we decide to look for competition at C via the draft, OL Cole Strange could be an option. Zion Johnson struggles to move in space so although he has some pop in his blocks, my thought is we’ll be looking for a more athletic mover like Strange, who has played mostly OG, and has only practiced snapping and hasn’t actually played C. He would be a guy that couldn’t take over immediately, but perhaps a year or two later. We could grab in an inside LB and I know most of you here love Leo Chenal. The big backer may not make it to pick #102 but I wouldn’t mind it if he ended up here if he did. We could also look at RB but I think the top 2, Hall and Walker will be gone, so we’ll be looking at some lower tier players. If we’re looking for a bigger back with a tough running style to complement all the smaller, faster guys, Zamir White is that type of guy.
Oh, back to that defense. So we basically re-signed everyone, the defense comes back intact, including the depth. ILB seems to be the spot I’d choose for an upgrade, I love our D-line and and I don’t think our LB is an issue, but I’d love another playmaker next to Baker inside. Chanel is a big, muscular thumper who can motor, but he’s not a good cover LB at this juncture, which means he probably won’t be. As you all know, I’d love Bobby Wagner, but I feel like our cap space is getting tight, but there always seems to be ways to manipulate that and make things work. Wilkins, Davis, Ogbah, Van Ginkel, Wagner, Baker and Phillips make up quite the front 7. Maybe Wagner will see what we’re building and more inclined to join at a friendlier price. Roberts is a fine 2 down LB, and he’s made some big plays so I don’t consider it a need, more a want. Despite trading away lots of draft capital, we’re not done building, we still have some free agency and the draft, and then after the draft the post June 1st cut downs, which always nets some choice players. Enjoy the build, I know I am!

GO DOLPHINS!!!

Lots of Dolphins buzz right now. I’m digging it.
Great work Mike as always.
Regarding the current power rankings realistically were like sixth or seventh if everyone is being honest. Good luck covering everyone.
When asked about pressure to produce Hill sort of laughed it off saying (paraphrased) I don’t feel pressure, I apply pressure. I love that.
We’re flipping pages like a cheap novel, Twice go ahead and add fifty more posts before the turn.
Without the threat of nukes Russia wouldn’t stand a chance against us/NATO in conventional warfare. We’d own the skies rather easily it would seem and they’d be toast.
Son, she was 15, I was like 10. She played volleyball with my older brother and sister
Like I said, lol
I have no such history with Barry Manilow, 😂
You can only dream of what could have been.
Lmao.
Are you kidding me with the Tom Brady rumors?
He’d have to get traded first of all. It’s so dumb.
They couldn’t have this great off-season and then do something idiotic like trade for Tom Brady
Or is the media still trying to punk Tua?
They’re not. Why would Tampa even do that? People are dumb and then get loud and it makes them seem even dumber lol
Terron Armstead is a very impressive individual. That’s the type of leaded I don’t think we’ve had since when you tell me. I got a Reggie White vibe out of him. But on offense 😉
Yeah and I don’t know the last one we had like that. Just hope he can stay on the field and be the talent that he is.
Tim – the anti-Tua campaign never ends
Agreed. He doesn’t deserve this.
It’s a product of casual fans and media talking heads who aren’t really watching the games
MIND-BOGGLING VICTORY by St. Peter’s of New Jersey over heavily favored Purdue. The Peacocks become the first 15th seed IN HISTORY to advance to the elite 8!!! They’ll play the winner of UCLA-NORTH CAROLINA for a trip to the Final Four!!
———————–
Meanwhile, Carolina fans are licking their chops. If their boys beat UCLA and St. Peter’s. they’ll likely play DUKE in the National Semi-finalsgame in New Orleans at the Final Four!! All sorts of possibilities remain!
———————-
Gotta get up 5:20 tomorrow for an early bird drive to Orlando for a board meeting. Y’all have a Great Saturday!
Really would love to see UNC vs Duke in the Final Four in coach Ks last season
Same. I’m cheering on Miami as well. It would be something that if on a ‘down’ year the ACC puts 3 in the Elite 8.
No major NFL reporters are reporting Brady to the Dolphins.
I think they’ve done a decent job so far. I’m not gonna get ahead of myself in guessing how this team will perform yet. This OL needs to prove they can compete, and I think that’s gonna take some time. First step looks good so far. Next step is actually becoming a team and performing. The FO is doing what they can to help make that happen.
Agreed
Great write up Mike E!
Spend that $$$ Fins! Let’s go!
I am really hoping to see this team score some points finally!
Yep!
Eye opening to the realness. Not what we get on our news. I am lost for words after watching this. Brings back some memories I had buried.
Man, the location of some of these throws.
Some? Heck, most of them.
Seems to me that when he throws short he throws more over the top, and when he throws deeper, he throws a little more sidearm. Very accurate either way.
Mike, when throws short it’s more of a quick 2nd baseman kind of a throw
I had to think about the over the top throws, because I was so used to the side arm baseball throw
I think this was posted the other day?
But It’s worth another one!
Love that! Especially coming from a former Bills player!
Yes, worth posting again for the haters. lol
HMMM?
🤣
LOL
From what I can tell, Parker’s dead money is 3.8m if traded, cap savings of 5m
I’d surely trade him, if we can get a 2nd rd pick back, otherwise I don’t see the point
I’m not sure we will get that kind of return
What if we traded Parker and our 5th for a 2nd?
However, I don’t want to trade Parker. I think he is a great change of pace to the speed guys, not that Parker is a tall slow.
But I’ll really miss those beautiful back shoulder catches and those spectacular 50/50 balls on the sidelines.
He has great chemistry with Tua on those, and they can tear the heart out of a dB.
He does not excel at routes that get a lot of YACs though.
Naples, I agree. Let’s see you have Hill, Waddle, parker and Mostert on the field. Who gets CB1 and CB2? Then who covers Parker? If Parker is covered by CB3, that DB is getting Mossed!
Though, I would say if the trade offer came and it was good, I would take it like Steve said.
BBM
the D will have to cover Hill with their slot corner (rotflmao), then double Waddle with CB1 and the FS over top, leaving the CB2 1on1 with Parker. Thus Gesicki will get the OLB (tyvm) and Mostert will draw the SS (as if).
The D will be down 2 TDs by Hill before they realize they can’t do it that way and switch the Cheetah coverage with the Waddle coverage and BOOM. Penguin in the EZ.
Just for kicks we’ll run Gesicki past the LB on a couple intermediate slants sandwiched around a deebo clone sweep to Hill and a back shoulder to Parker.
Wheel route to Mostert who hits 23 MPH for the TD.
Next drive a bunch formation to Ced for 14 and a wide screen to Chase for 12, Waddle on a crosser for 18, and Hill on a 22 yd post for the score. The rest we got on rushing yards into an empty box.
etc. etc. etc. mix and match and repeat every drive.
We should average 31 points a game just on offense with a leg like Sanders to pitch in, not to mention the amoeba D feasting and the X-men getting picks.
That’s how I see it! LOL
Reps are gonna be scarce for some of our receivers absent injury.
*** the Fullback will be in most running downs, which means only 2 receiving slots.
*** gotta figure Waddle and Tyreek are in for 2/3rds of total snaps each game (if not more).
*** when a third receiver is called for gonna have to be split btwn the other wideouts and Gesicki.
So gonna be Gesicki, Cedrick, Parker, Preston, Bowden splitting a bit over the total overall snaps in each game.
Agreed Stanger. And with Wilson making over $7 million per season, he’s going to be the number 3. I think Parker is as good as gone. That would free up $9 million this season. I’d like to see us package him for some sort of pick
I think it is a little over 5mil freed up as we would be on the hook for a little over 3mil in dead money.
I wasn’t for trading Parker before, but I am now. Plus whatever Conditional Pick points we would accrue from him won’t count cause we’ve been overall buyers in FA.
Kind of makes Parker expendable if a good trade offer comes along.
I read 9, but maybe it is 5. I can’t see us getting more that a third, probably a 4th for him. I’d love to see us package him with a first or second next year, grab Linderbaum this year.
We only have one center on the roster. Someone is coming in, and doubt will be a UDFA.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they traded both Parker and Gesicki.
Parker is the hot topic, but gotta figure if were trading Gesicki would have happened by now. That’s different than saying he will be here after his tag year though. Might turn out a better fit with another system.
I can’t see them moving 2 starters who Tua had good connections with.
A lot of good receivers is a good problem to have. Here’s a breakdown for receiving in San Fran from last year.
https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers-team-stats?season=2021&category=receiving
Our team should look slightly different because our QB is more capable.
Starts with…

“Tua has no excuses this year. None…..Eventually, it all comes down to Tua. Can he execute? Can he stay healthy? Can he avoid giving “backup” Teddy Bridgewater an opening?
If Tua can, that’s great both for the team and for the fifth overall pick in the 2020 draft. If he can’t, someone else will be playing quarterback for the Dolphins in 2023.
And the Dolphins will have their pick of plenty of options. They’ll be the team for which every established quarterback wants to play next year, once the now-annual quarterback carousel starts to spin.”
— Mike Florio
One mans opinion, is another mans toilet paper!
LOL — knew just the name Florio would get someone going. Liked the part about us being the hot destination if it came to it…. and not talking the weather.
One man’s sweaty jockstrap, is another Florio sleep apnea mask!
Trade Parker for an ILB or Center ??…
Those are the likely suspects. Parker is worth like a 4th or 5th? Might get you an older/used to be good C being pushed out by a younger guy.
Also wouldn’t be shocked if they try to trade back into round one this year for a specific player if they think they have a shot at him.
Like Linderbaum if he is that guy
I’ve been saying that for a few weeks now.
I was thinking. There may be a reason Cethan Carter, 6’3 248 pounds, has not been released yet. He is a TE/HB/FB though not used as a FB since being in the NFL that I can see. He is good on ST’s as an interior blocker and also recorded 8 total ST tackles for us last year. He is faster (4.67) than Smythe, Long or Shaheen and definitely more athletic than Shaheen and even Long. He wasn’t the greatest of fits in last year’s offense, but think he is a much better fit for this offense than Shaheen.
When I went back and watched highlights of Duke Johnson, Lindsey and Gaskin, about 90% of the time it was Smythe making the block. Shaheen and Long were always late getting to their block.
I could almost see Carter stick as the better fit with ST’s value and Shaheen the odd man out. I think we possibly roll to training camp with the current TE room.
wow deebo had 10 drops on 121 targets
Cornsontrayshon issues? Did not realize that. Waddle had a few also but not sure how many. Surely not that many.
That’s some real good tape on Cethan Carter.
I thought so. I was just thinking since they released Jesse Davis and Hurns, then decided to restructure two other players over releasing more players makes me think they want to see who gels more with this new offense and want to keep as many of our own as possible.
So, just figured I would look into Carter a little more.
I think Waddle had 8 drops on 140 targets.
Cornsontrayshon ? WTF?
Thank you, Mike E!
Finally, caught up….getting car inspected…lol.
My pleasure good sir!
So once the dumb Brady rumors don’t happen, who’s next on the list to replace Tua?
Draft pick next year, or whomever is slightly unhappy with their current team
Baker Mayfield
Probably Jimmy G. I heard that one already that he should be our backup until he is healthy. SMH
Agree with those who would never want Brady here, AND, my friend just asked me that.
NO FUCKING WAY!
Imo…that’s not how you build the team for the next decade.
We are filling in holes and building core and we don’t need a QB. We have one!
Give him a OL and a run game….he will do the rest
Everytime I was highlights our our running backs from last year I watched Cethan Carter get routinely blown up. Maybe they think they can coach the guy up, but his Dolphins tape isn’t very good.
Really? How many offensive run snaps did he actually have to where you can come away with “routinely blown up”?
And more weapons…lol. Last year our WR unit was Waddle.
Now we have a Cheetah and more.
Loved that video…not sure it’s real, but loved the cheetah’s acceleration off the start. If we have that?!!! Oh my…
Tyler Van Dyke is the next great QB from college but I don’t think he’s eligible til the 24 draft
It would be funny if his name was Dick. LOL
We can trade away our 2023 and 2024 1st round draft picks for a slew of 2025 1st round draft picks and draft Arch Manning. lol
This isn’t exactly confirmed and could have been an accident, but I’m gonna believe it happened just as presented North of Kyiv..

“Russian troops reportedly attacked their own commanding officer by running him over with a tank after many in their brigade were killed amid the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.”
Yeah, been hearing a lot about that one. They identified him by name in several reports.
RIP Taylor Hawkins – Foo Fighters drummer.
Yes. Awful.

_______
Enough for me to notice #82.
I heard a rumor earlier today that I can’t validate at the moment but thought it to be very interesting if true: it would appear a great many Russian troops are communicating with one another on unsecured radio and internet channels. A lot of their plans/moves are being intercepted, even by journalists and citizens of Ukraine.
IF this is true, WTF is up? Is it intentional or are they just mindless millennials being mindless millennials? That’s a good way to get yourself killed in battle… or if ya survive, to be sentenced to death for treachery as Putin watches.
Phelon, have you heard anything about this, man?
There seem to be a lot of Russian troops that don’t want to be doing this. It would be like American troops invading Canada. WTF?!!!
There’s a lot of stuff that isn’t making much sense in this war… and all I’m seeing is the typical American politician (both sides of the aisle) pushing for WWIII.
I would advise AGAINST trading DeVante unless we get a deal we can’t refuse… which IMO, isn’t going to happen. Such a deal would need to include a 2nd rounder this year for me to pull the trigger. But again, that’s just me.
It’s funny how we — by merit of trading for and then extending ‘Reek the Cheetah — have reset the WR market. DeVante was already a decent bargain for us, even though he’s healthy seemingly half the time. Honestly, he’s a real bargain for us now. He’s the redzone threat we still need… him and Gesicki.
That would be for everyone on the team!
Everyone is for sale! You might not like the price!!!!!!!!
Like I said: IMO… as in, if I were GM. We’ll see what happens!
The issue with DeVante is how many targets will he get? He doesn’t play STs and he’s costly as a #4 WR and 5th or 6th option overall. Preston Williams could replace him much cheaper. Similar sized targets.
I don’t see more than a 4th round pick for him if traded.
I’d keep DeVante, then! Again, that’s just me.
MF13 I’m not believing anything I’m hearing right now!
Who can you trust???
You’re a sharp cat, Wyoming! I don’t trust anything I’m hearing right now, either. You can, however, trust me when I say I’m hearing a “rumor”. Who knows what’s up, right?
A “rumor” is just that: so who knows?
Hill, Waddle, Gesicki and Wilson are going to see a lot of snaps. Then you have our RBs and other TEs. How many snaps does Parker get? Many of us are fans of his but we know his durability issues his entire career. He definitely has value in the league but I think his time is done in Miami. 4th or 5th round pick to gain $5+M in cap space makes sense. Can’t justify his salary. New offense. Gesicki and Wilson are the bigger targets. Williams is the depth. It’s a business.
The trade for Hill changed everything.
You may be correct, Tim. If it could help us to sign JC Tretter, for example, perhaps it would be worth it. I’d still keep DeVante, though.
Think about it this way. He would likely be inactive if we’re at full strength. We didn’t franchise Gesicki and sign Wilson for 3-$23M+ to not play. This trade could happen during the draft if not sooner.
I dunno, man… I’m conflicted! DeVante has bailed us out SO many times in the past when down and distance truly mattered… he’s ‘Elastic Man’. However, I do see where you’re coming from.
My calculation shows about 4.9m, have seen 3.9m out there too, but there’s some bonus that’s in the gurantee, that I believe his new team would pay
Wyoming,
What make you of Chad Muma, bud?
If we didn’t have Baker he would be great!
He’s a high motor effort guy!
I’m looking for a ILB!
I’m about to look at his tape very soon (not tonight). I’m digging his measurables, stats, and think he could make a difference for us at face value.
IF we can land JC Tretter (that would be reason to trade DeVante for NO less than a 3rd round pick), we might be able to land your guy Chad Muma.
If we can’t land JC Tretter, I’m ALL ABOUT drafting Alec Lindstrom @ 102… just like you.
If things stay as they are, if there is a good ILB prospect with our 3rd that would be good. We could use another young LB to compete with the vets. But we brought the band back so not sure it’s a dire need. Our biggest issue was not stopping the run. We were tied for 14th in the league. Our defense was on the field too much because our offense was not very good.
On paper, our offense changed for the better in a matter of weeks. 🙂
I’m trying to find a way to land a decent Center AND a decent MLB/ILB between the Draft and FA.
I hear ya, Tim! Yes… our Offense should very much help our Defense this year.
M13, I hear ya about another Center, I think we’re all on board with that. I think ILB is being somewhat thought of as if that guy is the key to the defense, Baker is the guy in big spots usually in nickel and dime. Teams play with 3 WR most of the time.
I’m not worried about the defense at all. We’ve got a lot of talent and young players still getting better. These guys have been playing in the same scheme for 2-3 years. That’s the one area of the team where continuity is really good.
If the offense on paper performs up to expectations, our defense is plenty good to win a championship. 🙂
Oh, I’m with ya, man! I just feel that we can get even BETTER through the Draft and potentially make a move or two more via FA.
We’re never trying to stop getting better, ya know? 😉 🙂
I’ve my eyes on a certain prize in this Draft class: Matt Araiza, P, San Diego State. It’s not just about his booming, legendary, and multiple punts that have gone for 80+ yards… dude can hit FGs from 50+, should ANYTHING happen to Jason Sanders (injury).
I’d be more than happy to spend a 4th rounder to acquire his services, knowing that STs are 1/3 of the game… Araiza would be a true game-changer for us should we ever stall on our 25 yard-line with 3-and-outs.
The consolation prize (BBMike has spoken highly about him, and he’s right, per usual) is PSU’s Jordan Stout.
For me?
Araiza: A++
Stout: A+
Can’t go wrong with either one as a Punter, but one (Araiza) can additionally play the position of a long Kicker.
That is where I am. Actually those 2 would be my target with the UGA punter as a consolation prize.
No… I’m not willing to spend a 4th rounder on Jordan Stout.
Oh no! Didn’t mean that. Just meant those would be the first 2 I would target. Miss on Araiza then target Stout later. Miss on both then just make sure you get the UGA guy.
Wyoming, I thought Muma was an ILB? I think he is a bit slow to play OLB in the NFL but love his motor and a sure tackler on top of that.
I’ve got to hit the hay! BBMike, good to see ya this evening… wish we had more time to discuss the Draft, Bro!
Have a good one!
And you too, Tim! Have a good one, gents.
Let’s look at the draft this way. Who needs to be replaced where there is a void or weakness? Our draft right now is about need/depth because BPA isn’t quite that obvious starting at the end of the 3rd round.
We do need a punter and they are important. Just hope we don’t have to use him a lot this year. 🙂
Tim, we need a punter and that is about it as far as a need because we don’t have one.
For me, it’s about where we need to upgrade through the draft. IMO, it’s ILB. I mean, how many times are we going to fill the position with 1 year contracts. Even though it is the same players, that tells me know they need to upgrade that position or else we would see longer contracts.
Next would be Center. Though, I think they may and go get a Center first since we are set at ILB for the season and only have Deiter at OC. I just got a man crush on Chenal. lol
Who needs to be replaced: Eichenberg, Jackson, Kindley and Dieter
Not really replaced but find upgrade and/or backup for Deiter
M13, while you are checking out LB’s, look at ILB Leo Chenal from Wisconsin. He is that monster in the middle we all would love to have. His combine numbers – “Chenal measured in at just over 6’2″ and weighed 250 pounds. He would go on to post a 40.5″ vertical and 10.08 feet in the broad jump. Chenal also ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds–all of which ranked among the best at the linebacker position.”
He is considered a late 2nd to late 3rd. I would be willing to move up to get him.
The knock on him is in coverage. He allowed 19 rec on just 21 targets. He is a down hill run stuffer and blitzer. That’s how he was mainly used. He had 18.5 TFL and 9 sacks from the ILB position. He is very tough for OL to handle when shooting gaps and TE’s/RB’s can’t block him.
Don’t know who this dude is but does a decent breakdown on Chenal. Plus, he is a Dolphins fan.
Does anyone else think Chad Reuter is a total moron?
I hate that bloke nearly as much as the midget Rosental and his ex boss, the super duper idiot with his big mouth, Florio.
Three of them haven’t got a football braincell between them.
I love that someone on the blog used bloke in a sentence. I am truly serious when I say that. I love that we have bloggers from Australia, England and Canada here

The web can be a wonderful place. Loved to see that prison visit. Give the kids some hope at least. Our AFL players do similiar things. Any little bit always helps.
I see that Grier attended Texas A&M pro day.
Now who would he be there to see?
TBH every one of these guys is a high quality player.
OG Kenyon Green @ 6’4 330?
DT DeMarvin Leal 6’4 283?
TE Jalen Wydermyer 6’5 260?
RB Isaiah Spiller 6’1 225?
DT Jayden Peevey 6’5 319?
S Leon O’Neal 6’1 210?
EDGE Michael Clemons 6’5 263?
ILB Aaron Hansford 6’4 236?
This last guy is rated mid 5th round, and all the others are rated higher than that.
Actually, I think that Hansford guy looks like a steal. He has a high ceiling but needs coaching.
He was a WR in high school and ran track.
Went to A&M playing WR till he got over 230 and made the switch permanently to ILB.
Could be he was there to check out Green and Siller. We hadn’t traded for TH at that time.
^
This sounds like BS to me
What do you think?
https://twitter.com/unathanmckinnon/status/1507585108882165765?s=21&t=e_Nvie54Dv5NFkcBXzS8QQ
If true, we don’t need him. You can find a WR who can do close to what Deebo will give you. What TH gives you is rare.
He probably wants top money. Don’t blame him but would rather have TH than Deebo.
It’s all ego. He just wants to be paid the most in the league.Greedy buggars.
^^
We can’t even think about acquiring and giving up draft capital and paying for another top WR. We already blew our load. I have nothing against the move we made getting Tyreek, but generally those types of moves don’t usually pay off.
Trade Parker for him 😃
I agree with all of you above.
We had to do what we did insofar as snagging Chase, Connor Williams, and Ced in the tampering period, as they were all in demand and also exactly what we needed.
Meanwhile, we worked behind the scenes reeling in Armstead on the slow, because as he said, this is it for him and his career, so he wanted to be sure to get it right.
Then all of a sudden, Tyreek bubbles free, so then Boom we needed to snatch Hill at hyperspeed or risk losing him to some other team.
… …
So now maybe we need to sit back and catch our breath (which the whole league seems to normally do after the first 2 weeks of FA).
Maybe we should just chill till the draft, then play our cards to max that.
… …
And really, I’m good with just playing this hand (incl Rooks) for a year
to see where our next needs lie.
… …
We’ve got a bunch of new coaches and a new O to install, so getting too many new players could result in chaos like we saw on our OL last year.
So I’m agreeing that we do not want to pursue deebo as he would be redundant (and maybe inferior) to Tyreek, although I’d’ve loved to get him if we had not already gotten Hill.
All we need is a Punter.
We should take a ILB in the 3rd because there will be good ones left then, but a Center after that is not as highly rated as Dieter, so what’s the point?
… maybe instead of a worthless iOL, we should double up on ILB in the 4th, take the Punter in the 5th, then find a hidden gem @ CB and a Safety late to groom to replace Rowe and play STs.
Unless we trade Parker and a 3rd to move up and get Linderbaum.
haha it’s like a f’n candy store
I must research next year’s OCs.Dieter is sufficent for this year. I wanna draft Troy Andersin ILB from Montana State. Unless we clear enough to reach agreement with JC Tretter.
We can easily clear cap space, but for some reason they still haven’t put Armstead’s contract in yet
13.3m under now
Going to bed.GoodNight all.
Is Marjorie Taylor Greene really as stupid as what she says or does hate not have to make sense?
She’s right
5.55 for gas here, why? Because the gas comes from CA, where they’ve got the gas so doctored up it cost a fortune, and the gas has ethanol in it amongst other things, so if you don’t run the gas through within a month it turns into gel
All this electric car BS and GND is why we pay too much for gas, they want us on non clean electric, if that ain’t hypocritical don’t know what is
Did you even watch the 8 second clip? I was talking about what she said in it.
Do you think Mayor Pete and his husband are threatening to go in the girls’ room?
Do you think she was talking metaphorically
If it was metaphorically then it was a straight up homophobic slur. Not cool in my book at least.
agree
agree with Stanger’s original post I mean and also his last reply
The D was pretty good last year, just lacks someone to stop the run, when it becomes a problem
Keep hearing we were 14th against the run, so it’s not a problem
We lost to Tenn, because they ran all over us and we couldn’t do anything on O to combat it
Why not draft someone like Chenal and give him that role, he could be the run specialist
agree
BTW – Not that NFL.com’s scouting reports are the end all, but those that were/are advocating us to get C Alec Lindstrom – It seems like he’s what we can’t use, a guy who doesn’t move well and struggles in an outside zone blocking scheme. I mentioned that G Cole Strange is a potential guy but he wouldn’t likely be able to unseat Deiter this season, because he hasn’t actually played center, but he has practiced snapping in college practices. Still, that’s a long way from calling out protections and making line calls and actually snapping during the game. Maybe they can get him ready for next season though, and that would be acceptable. I think we all realize that there’s only one draftee that could possible unseat Deiter and that’s Linderbaum. No guarantee of that either, although the most likely.
Deiter will be better with better players around him
Tua doesn’t need a lot of time on every play, just would be nice once in a while
I hope so, that was my vision from the start, that everyone would be better with some solid next to them. I guess we have to figure who plays RG, but if big Robert Hunt is there, and Connor Williams is at LG, I would agree.
If there comes a time where we need MTG to “Save America”, we’re fucked! She’s an absolute fucknut!!!
Maybe so, but she’d do a better job than the current WH
I don’t have to tell you that I’m not fond of anyone in the WH or part of their cabinet or anything about them, but MTG is so far out there she actually scares me.
Be careful or she will sick the gazpacho on you
LOL — MTG is comedy gold. Maybe cause of all her success they’ve targeted the jewish space lasers on her.
agree
If this isn’t the stupidest duo on air…
Anything with skip bayless will make a run for that crown
Maybe this is our target in the 3rd
Watching spring training, Mets vs Cards. Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer both throwing today for the Mets
Wonder if the big ape is watching Cards vs Mets
We got a single against deGrom in the 1st, so it’s been a fantastic showing and the Cards can go home happy, lol.
Haha! Scherzer up in game 2.

Tim,
I meant now that we don’t have any picks in the top couple rounds we may see them put together a package to get back into the first. I didn’t want to make a trade when we had our original picks. It’s a different situation now.
agree
“Free-agent receiver Jarvis Landry, cut earlier this month by the Browns, had yet to find a new team, one that satisfies his contractual expectations.
Landry, we’re told, had hoped to get a contract in the range of $20 million per year.”
Landry was set to make just under $15 million with the Browns this season before being released.
2021
52 rec, 570 yds, 2 tds
2020
72 rec, 840 yds, 3 tds
20 mil per year? I’ll take some of whatever he’s smoking.
not worth more than $8M any more.
Cards with 2 singles in 2 innings against deGrom- domination…
I’ve never seen deGrom look this bad. Mets should pull him before it gets ugly…
Hudson doing his best deGrom impression…it’s not very good, I thought maybe he was doing Chris Webber or Madonna (two notorious chokers)…
Spring training is boring. I usually don’t start watching baseball games until they are 80 or 90 weeks into the season…
How many weeks do they play🤪
Sometimes it feels like the season is 2 or 3 years long, lol.
Mike Masala on Parker’s trade value: “If they got a third, they’d probably be lucky. It feels more likely that they could receive a fourth or fifth-round selection.”

To Tim’s reply… Rip Tayler Hawkins ☹️
Bader 2 for 2 with an RBI against deGrom- deGromination
How many good drives did we have and points did we score against the Titans?
Kong – I love watching deGrom pitch. You can see how much he enjoys it and how engaged his catcher is. I love seeing him shake his head when he misses his spot by a couple of inches. Perfectionist.
He’s amazing. I’m only watching the Cards game today because he is pitching against us
Kong – is Woodford a reserve pitcher?? Bourbon joke 🥃
Ha! That would have went right by me, lol
If we’re willing to use 2023 draft picks to get back into this year’s draft to help improve this years team to go for it, then what we did by trading for Hill doesn’t really change anything. It’s about making the 2022 team the best it can be.
It also makes the 2023 team better too. Those draft picks already have a year of pro experience and hopefully playoff and more experience too
But we’d be trading a guy who would go this year in the first for one who will be a first rounder next year. I figure with what they’ve done we have at least a 2-3 year window on this.
“go this year in the 2nd…”
Why is it all about this season? They will hold the draft in 2023. And not like we are a top-6 team. 25-1 shot to even make the Superbowl.
It’s not just about this season, but we didn’t make these moves to not go for it this year. Any player we trade up for will still be on the team in 2023.
But going for it this year doesn’t mean we have to trade away all our picks in 2023, especially when we are a team who are a 5-1 shot to win their division.
You Mets fans have to be excited to have picked up Scherzer. If you can get into the playoffs with those two guys healthy, there isn’t a better 1-2 in the league.
Certainly very excited. Not sure the lineup they’ve cobbled together is going to be lots better than last season but they do have a lot more team speed and a much improved defensive outfield and infield. Of course with deGrom you just hope he can stay healthy
Stanger, nobody knows what we are as a team yet. The Bengals were not favorites to go to the Super Bowl last year.
Couldn’t that be said about every team every year? I’m just not a hope and a dream kinda guy.
I guess but you said it’s not like we’re a top 6 team and used odds to make your point. The AFC is going to be really tough but we’re trying to be in the mix.
Stanger – what’s more valuable, a 2022 1st RD pick or a 2023? After you answer that, tell me why, and then you’ll get what Tim is saying
A first in 2022. Now tell me which team is going to trade us a first this year for 2023 first. Chart value is a 2nd.
It will have to be more than just the 2023 first, but it could be that 2023 1st and Parker. I’d do that for Linderbaum
If Linderbaum falls. Parker is worth like a 4th. I’d do that. He doesn’t fall will take more.
And am actually expecting us to walk out of the draft with only one of the 2023 firsts. Signing Armstead and Tyreek accelerated the time frame, but doesn’t mean we have to spend the entire 2023 draft like it was a credit card.
I wouldn’t trade a no. 1 from next year unless we are getting Lindenbaum
Just the fact that you said this shows that it’s not crazy to do it. I agree on Linderbaum but there may be a different player they want. The future picks are assets, just like the player we would take this season if we traded them. Picks are only as good as the players you get with them
I don’t think there are too many players that fit that bill. Lindenbaum is a unique talent that fits a need and is compatible with McDaniel’s scheme. I really don’t see anyone else in the draft that I would do this for
Tim
We need those 2023 picks in case the team they built doesn’t go as planned in 2022
I tend to agree with the exception of Lindenbaum
I would not trade for a center
You can get solid centers in day 2 and day 3
You don’t have to trade all of them. The way this team has been constructed, it’s likely a 2 year plan and then we’ll have to revise a lot of it anyway.
Didn’t know he was this good
I would not trade either of next years number 1 picks for a Center.
Why not if we are all in now? It’s a glaring need
I wound prefer to maintain the flexibility we have next year by having 2 firsts. I also believe a Center can be had in a later round.
I also do not believe that the need is glaring, JMO.
This OL still needs improvement for us to win
Trading 2023 to get back into this year’s draft is just an idea by us fans. The team may not be doing it. But if they do we can’t stop them anyway. 😉
No we can’t stop it, but I can complain, until I realize they know more about building a team than I do, lol
Pig,
Are you a Hurricane BB fan?
