Dolphins are ALL IN

I wish I could adequately share my excitement with all my friends and readers here. I hope by the time you finish reading you can feel it through my writing. It’s not that this team is the front runner for Super Bowl LVII, it’s that we’re actually in the running. It’s that our team has made a commitment this season acquiring assets to be a legitimate competitor in the AFC. Last week I was taking in all the moves and thinking to myself this team got a few nice players, a collection of adequate players but nothing exceptional. I felt we needed some top level talent. What a difference a week makes! We signed via Free Agency the top OT on the market, Terron Armstead formerly of the New Orleans Saints. Yes, he’s a LEFT TACKLE, and Tua is left handed, which means Armstead won’t be protecting Tua’s blindside. Doesn’t matter, we needed a high level player on the O-line and just thinking of Connor Williams and Terron Armstead on that left side is exciting. Both are excellent run blockers. Then the blockbuster dropped, and it happened so fast I couldn’t believe it. I’m getting rifled with texts from friends and fans of other teams letting me know that the Dolphins are in the running for WR Tyreek Hill. Who expected anything like that? BOOM! He’s here for the next 4 years for $120M. What???

The Miami Dolphins offense is going to be known as the LEGION OF ZOOM

So friends, as disappointed as I was last week, I couldn’t be more optimistic about our team. The totality of all the moves make it clear we wanted speed on the field, and with newly acquired Raheem Mostert, Tyreek Hill added to Jaylen Waddle, that’s some legit horsepower out there. You can read all the negatives about giving up all that draft capital and paying exorbitant amounts of money to a smallish WR, but F all those know nothings who write and say those things. The Raiders are brilliant for giving up loads of draft capital for Davante Adams and paying him, but the Dolphins are desperate. You could easily make the case that Tyreek Hill is as good or better than Davante Adams. Alright, so in reality, it all comes down to the prevalent belief that Tua just ain’t it, just isn’t good enough. I don’t think there’s a player in this league, possible league history who is judged as unfairly as Tua is. I can’t say whether he’s a top 10 talent at the QB position but please judge the man by what he had to play with. Worst O-line in football, a revolving door of injured receivers, no run game, and the proof of all that was how much worse and established NFL starter, Jacoby Brissett performed in Tua’s stead while he was injured. There seems to be no perspective at all when judging young Tua and I just hope with all my heart that this kid makes them all look stupid. For the most part, he can’t really win, because if he succeeds this season and the team wins, the new weapons will get the credit and Tua will just be a game manger surrounded by great players and a great HC. I can only pray they say that because we’ll be winning.

We all knew the offense was the unit that needed some TLC, and the Dolphins apparently agreed. While we managed to keep the defense intact, props to the Dolphins FO for making that happen, they really dug in to fix the offense. So just how does Tyreek Hill fit in with this offense. Just like in KC, just get him the damn ball. I don’t care if it’s a screen pass, a jet sweep, a 5 yard pass, 10 yard pass or a 50 yard bomb, just get him the ball and good things happen. He’s that dangerous receiver that absolutely must be accounted for at all times. You think Jaylen Waddle is excited? His 9.8 YPR is going to go up nicely with Hill in the lineup. You think Mike Gesicki is excited? BTW, both of those aforementioned receivers may see less targets, but I can almost guarantee you they will be making more big plays. Last year Will Fuller, AKA The Invisible Man was supposed to be the guy to take the top off the defense. That was the bottle rocket that went pffffffffffffffffft! It was such an unbalanced attack, it was the Penguin Show, Waddle getting 104 receptions with the next closest receiver being TE Mike Gesicki with 73.

The ball is going to be spread around a lot, and I’m sure WR Tyreek Hill will get his share of targets and receptions, as will Waddle and Gesicki, but remember all the RB’s we brought in here. First, Chase Edmonds, who’s averaged between 7-9 YPR, and our own Myles Gaskin who was one shy of 50 receptions. Raheem Mostert isn’t really used a receiver often but he’s so dangerous in space and finds angles and creases so quickly that he may get the ball more here in this offense. Ah, but keep in mind, we hired Mike McDaniel, run game coordinator. Mike loves to run, and although we don’t have a feature back per se, we have some guys that make big plays in Mostert, Edmonds and of course Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

OK, as Jen Psaki would say, let’s circle back to the O-line. Y’all know I felt we needed two quality guys, and I made it clear I wanted interior guys, expecting our talented young OT’s Austin Jackson and Liam Eichenberg to be reclamation projects of O-line Coach Matt Applebaum and Frank Smith. Instead, the Dolphins simply got the best OL available in Free Agency, LT Terron Armstead. Earlier and preceding the Armstead deal, the Dolphins picked up Connor Williams. Williams must be ecstatic that he’s going to be playing next to Terron Armstead. I don’t know if Michael Deiter is going to be our starting C, or if we look to the draft where we have significantly less capital, or possibly at post June 1st cuts for our new center. The right side of the line has yet to be determined but most definitely includes OL Robert Hunt. Whether he remains inside at RG or moves out to RT is still up in the air. One thing we know for certain, in possibly a symbolic move, is that Jesse Davis will NOT be the RT in 2022. If it were me, I’d leave Hunt at RG where he’s flourished, and make an open competition between young tackles Austin Jackson, Liam Eichenberg, Larnel Coleman and Robert Jones. Or as some have speculated here, maybe big man Solomon Kindley moves to RG and Robert Hunt is the new RT. All possible, but my thinking is that Solomon would have to be in tip top shape to play in this athletic offensive line scheme, where lots of movement is the plan. You have to move to fill a hole or gap, and you can’t be tardy or the play is blown up. I think Austin Jackson has a good shot and as I type that I can see M13 cringing about Jackson on Tua’s blind side. Eichenberg had mentioned last season he’s very comfortable at RT, so this competition should be a good one, and I feel we have enough knowledge there now with Applebaum at the helm, and with a couple of other guys with O-line experience to lean on.

Have we now increased the talent level on this team? CHECK! Have we brought in some game changers, playmakers? CHECK! Have we addressed the O-line? CHECK! The only negative I can muster right now is that I probably won’t watch Day 1 and 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft. It’s usually one of my favorites, until it actually happens and then most times I’m grumbling WTF under my breath, or actually screaming it. We still own picks #102 (RD3), pick #125 (RD4), pick #158 (RD5) and pick #225 (RD7). If we decide to look for competition at C via the draft, OL Cole Strange could be an option. Zion Johnson struggles to move in space so although he has some pop in his blocks, my thought is we’ll be looking for a more athletic mover like Strange, who has played mostly OG, and has only practiced snapping and hasn’t actually played C. He would be a guy that couldn’t take over immediately, but perhaps a year or two later. We could grab in an inside LB and I know most of you here love Leo Chenal. The big backer may not make it to pick #102 but I wouldn’t mind it if he ended up here if he did. We could also look at RB but I think the top 2, Hall and Walker will be gone, so we’ll be looking at some lower tier players. If we’re looking for a bigger back with a tough running style to complement all the smaller, faster guys, Zamir White is that type of guy.

Oh, back to that defense. So we basically re-signed everyone, the defense comes back intact, including the depth. ILB seems to be the spot I’d choose for an upgrade, I love our D-line and and I don’t think our LB is an issue, but I’d love another playmaker next to Baker inside. Chanel is a big, muscular thumper who can motor, but he’s not a good cover LB at this juncture, which means he probably won’t be. As you all know, I’d love Bobby Wagner, but I feel like our cap space is getting tight, but there always seems to be ways to manipulate that and make things work. Wilkins, Davis, Ogbah, Van Ginkel, Wagner, Baker and Phillips make up quite the front 7. Maybe Wagner will see what we’re building and more inclined to join at a friendlier price. Roberts is a fine 2 down LB, and he’s made some big plays so I don’t consider it a need, more a want. Despite trading away lots of draft capital, we’re not done building, we still have some free agency and the draft, and then after the draft the post June 1st cut downs, which always nets some choice players. Enjoy the build, I know I am!

Another way to go if we are ok at ILB
is to get the bruiser back from Ga Zamir White and push off whoever is last on the RB depth chart. He could add a smash mouth element we don’t have on the roster.
    6′ 214 ran a 4.4 might be gone by #102 off that 40 time
“Loves to play the game with elevated physicality.
    Creates with power and elusiveness.
Processes movement and cuts back accordingly.
    Absorbs contact like it’s nothing.
Lateral cuts come easily for being a power back.
Can obliterate lesser tacklers or the uncommitted.
Vision to find a pathway to open field once he hits second level.
Drags tacklers with him to fall forward.”
    … …
    also
It feels like to me that Gaskin is not viewed highly, as they resigned Ahmed but also picked up 2 backs that play like Gaskin. (Edmonds and Mostert) Gaskin lost his job to Duke last year.

Whatever as I wave him off. Thought we we’re gonna talk football not media narrative.
    Show ‘em all Tua

  11. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
Orlovsky basically said what we’ve talked about here. Run the ball, hopefully in creative way, and build your passing game off that with not just the speed on your roster but…I think more importantly…the small area quickness these guys have. If you can create even a little bit of time and space for guys like Waddle and Hill with misdirection, disguise or clever scheme, it opens up everything. They’ll make plays AND create opportunities for plays for other guys. Hitting the deep ball isn’t the driving force, it’s the culmination of doing everything else right. Now, we’ll see if they can execute. Offenses like these don’t come together overnight. Like I’ve been saying, they take precision and a lot of practice.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. Coach McD has said it over and over. We’re going to coach coach coach it up until we do it right. At least we have an aggressive opportunistic defense that can help us get through some growing pains and tough games on offense. But when they get it, it’s going to be fun. Too much talent not be productive on offense.

  12. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I think it’s fair to question what sort of QB Tua can be. He’s still a young, developing player. I just think the stuff from the media is, as always, over the top and really not even accurate. I still question whether or not he’s the answer at QB but not for the reasons everybody seems to keep talking about. But hey…we could be talking about why the price of oil is going down! Lol

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think it’s been unfair for a lot of reasons with Tua. People act like hip surgery is no big deal. It’s your friggin core. Last year he had to deal with some other bumps in the road but he played his ass off down the stretch. This year he’ll be 2 years removed from that surgery and working with a much more talented offense and a HC that believes in him. That’s a big deal.

Tua has good mobility, good pocket presence, excellent accuracy and plenty of arm to get the job done. I think he shuts everyone up this year. 🙂

  13. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
I think we saw the injury impact him in year one. He didn’t look the same as he had in college. I’m not so sure it had a lot to do with last year but you never know. I thought Tua claimed he was completely healthy and recovered before last season.
    ***
Playing hard isn’t enough. He’s gotta prove he can run an offense like this and make the right plays….just like anybody else. The QB has to be the reason you win 4-6 games a year….and that may be low these days. He’s only in year three, but he’s gotta start doing a bit more, to me. Just my opinion.
    ***
I get how we’re assuming the offense is being built, but in the NFL your QB has to make plays if you’re gonna hang with the big dogs. I’m cool with giving him this year to prove he can or show enough to move forward with him. We’ll find out…just like we’ll find out if this OL can compete. Lots of question marks right now. That’s why you play the games.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think he looked much better in the 2nd half but the broken ribs and finger slowed his progress early on. It happens, even the great QBs in the league have had injuries.

We’re going to find out what he’s capable of this year because he will be given every opportunity to succeed without the trade noise and nonsense.

  29. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I hated those PFF LB rankings. We could miss out on the top 10 picking at #102 if that were to hold up. I fuess that is what we should expect with #102 which is basically a day 3 pick. We either need to trade up to fet a promising one or take the best OC at #102 and then the best available ILB at #125 like Micah McFadden. There are some others rated higher than McFadden who will be there but they are all “light”, weighing in the 220’s. That don’t spell run stuffer to me. I will have to check more of them out anyway as that maybe what we are left with. I may even take a BPA or safety at #125 if the LB’s are depleted.

  30. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

There’s really no reason to take a ILB who is rated lower than Elandon Roberts, because we have really good depth at that position.

  31. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I’d rather take the insane punter higher than we should just to make sure we get him, because we do not have a punter on the roster at this time.

  32. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Center is another matter. Taking one as high as possible would give us competition for Dieter, depth in case he gets hurt again, and a backup who could learn and possibly become a starter.
The guy must have upside though. The highest ceiling possible.

  33. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I would trade up for Linderbaum, but I think the FO likes Dieter too much to bother with that.
But there are a couple different ILBs worth trading up for.

Troy Anderson should be there @102. Sign Tretter in the week. Take another ILB later along OC such as Tom or Fortner. P in the 5th. drafy done.

  35. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

So to upgrade the roster with the draft picks we have left means maybe we take BPA at CB, because the depth we have there in Elijah Campbell or Trill Williams or Javaris Davis might be surpassed even by a Day 3 guy.
Or we take a Big Bruiser RB since all of our guys are small.
Or a flyer on some WR who falls into the 7th. Just in case they could replace P Williams or Ford at WR5 or 6.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

They seem to like Trill, doubt anyone taken on the 3rd day is going to come out of the gate running and take a spot.

Trill kind of did that last year and it got him a spot on the PS

It’s a tough transition position from college

      • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

        They do like Trill.
        however
The 3rd day includes the 4th round.
A well chosen 4th rounder should be able to take a spot from a UDFA
who is the #53 guy on the roster.
PWilliams for example or I Ford who was a 7th, neither of whom runs a 4.3 like Velus Jones or Bo Melton.

  36. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We still have some wiggle room with the cap, I expect another signing in the 5-7m avg per year category

  37. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Checking Over the Cap I don’t see any more spots to fill, we have maybe 4 in the top 51, that likely don’t make the 53 Cethan, Little, Redwine and Cracraft and maybe 6 not in the top 51 that might Ferguson a lock, Ahmed, Jones, Trill, Larnel, and Javaris

Seems other than P and backup C, both of which will be in the final 53, we’re set

Draftees in the top 3 picks likely make it, one of which should be a P and one a C

    Only upgrades left, maybe Wagner?

  38. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

What a difference a year makes, last year our top 3 picks were great and we needed them to be

This year its like what draft?

    Why not a P in the 3rd?

  39. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
In this case, ILB, P, and competition at or a plug and play backup for Center.
After that, CB depth, WR 5 and 6, and Bruiser-back RB.
Unless a can’t miss EDGE prospect falls to us to back up Ogbah, those should be our focus IMHO.
After all, we gotta call out names when it’s our turn.
Wow having a stacked roster foinf into the draft sure feels good.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We have versatile players on the DL, when Ogbah goes out we have Wilkens, Seiler and Phillips to slide over there and maybe even Butler and Davis, don’t see a need on the DL or how anyone drafted can crack the 53

      • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

We don’t actually have a DE on the roster other than Ogbah except for Daeshon Hall.
We have good guys behind Wilkins at DT, but Phillips is listed as a LB and van Ginkel is too light to be a true DE.
        … …
What happens if Ogbah gets hurt?
Just saying that a hot young pass rusher surprisingly falling to us would be BPA over more depth to battle it out @ a stacked position.

  40. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think when we are drafting for first time in 3rd round, you are drafting more bpa than actual needs

There is always a balancing act here
But drafting a little lower in the draft I think sets up more incentIve to give more weight to bpa

So, if we are looking at LB, Center and even Running back (we don’t really need a RB) in the 3rd round, I really think the issue is who do you grade higher rather than what do we need more

That Houston game was the first time in the history of the franchise that we beat the Texans. We were destroyed them in the first quarter, scoring more points than we normally did in a game. https://www.si.com/nfl/dolphins/news/miami-dolphins-assorted-tidbits-on-new-wide-receiver-tyreek-hill

There’s this perception that Tyreek Hill is a “take-the-top-off” the defense wide receiver, but the stats reveal that’s not who the prized #MiamiDolphins acquisition really is — and that’s actually perfectly fine for Miami.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Good to know he’s a short to intermediate receiver, more than deep threat, but it’s his threat of going deep that allows him to cutoff a route and be wide open

I put out something similar the other day, after seeing a breakdown of his plays

They didn’t just say let’s trade for one of the best WRs, they said he fits what we’re trying to do and would be a great addition

Paying someone like Tannehill or Cousins big money isn’t the same as paying Tyreek, he’s worth it

  57. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    Here’s a good sleeper pick @ ILB
    Troy Andersen
“It is hard to find linebackers who are big, fast and strong with outstanding instincts and awareness. That’s why scouts were excited about Andersen’s potential even before his combine workout. However, after watching the 6-3, 243-pounder blaze the turf with a 4.42 40-yard dash and pop jumps of 36 inches (vertical) and 10-foot-8 (broad jump), coaches and scouts are intrigued by the Montana State standout’s potential as a run-and-chase defender on the second level. Andersen’s movement skills and explosiveness are coveted in today’s game, with more teams opting to attack via the pass. As a long, rangy speedster with thump power and ball skills, Andersen could pose problems for opponents attempting to attack the middle of the field. With another opportunity to show scouts his range and agility at his April 4 pro day, Andersen could rise into serious consideration as a top-50 pick.”

I really like the idea of taking a center to develop in the 3rd or 4th round this year

Give Deiter a shot to earn the starting position, plan on replacing him if he doesn’t

Getting a center in the 3rd round is much different than getting a Wr or pass rusher in the 3rd round, you can find starters at that position later in the draft

That’s my highest place so far, but to be fair our ribs and tritip had the scores for a top 10 finish…another reason I’m working on the chicken, lol.

    ————————————–
That is what I was talking about yesterday. We have our LB’s resigned and they know the system. We could draft Clark and let him get healthy. No need to rush him in there.

As far as Memphis Center Parham, dude is super athletic and has great mobility. I had seen those numbers before “6’2 285” and thought he was just too small and lacked power despite his athleticism.

I just checked Parham’s combine results and he measured in at 6’3 and 311. Then he ran a 4.92 40 and his 10 yard split was up there with the fastest also at 1.74.

If I had known he was much bigger, he would have been on my list. He is now!

    Thanks!

  80. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I believe it was Tim who brought it up recently: the Eagles and we have great relations in terms of trading over the last decade. Remember when we traded for Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso, just as an example… not to mention last year when we traded up with them?

Well… they’re looking for a boundary WR to help Jalen Hurts, and it sounds like this could be Center Jason Kelce’s last year before he retires. What IF we were to trade DeVante Parker (<- that KILLS me!), Michael Deiter, and say a 3rd round pick (either this year's or next year's) and some change to the Eagles for their THIRD 1st rounder of this Draft (R1P19)?

That would put us in position to draft Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa, if we have that much conviction in him. What do y'all say?

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And yes, I do realize it would likely take a 2nd rounder (not a 3rd rounder) to make it happen.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

That could happen but I would not trade Deiter at this point and put all the chips on the rookie. Still need someone who could back up at OC.

Eagles are someone to think about trading up with. I had thought about that for trading up for a WR before we went out and got Hill.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Seems we really like Deiter (and reportedly, many other teams who have been calling us to trade for him). I believe you’re right, man. Deiter is probably just coming into his own, and the hope would be that he can be that guy for us this year.

  81. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

M – the funny thing about trading Parker and getting something in return for him doesn’t kill me in the least. In fact it would basically be the 2nd time in his career where we got what we hoped from him. I like him, and he’s a talent when healthy but if we’re being honest he’s been much more disappointment than he’s been productive. I would do that move, especially if our staff felt Linderbaum would be a big upgrade on our line.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’ve got SO much respect for the talent DeVante possesses, man. He’s one of the best WRs the league over when… HEALTHY. I get it, and I should be willing to move on.

If it makes us a better team overall, I suppose I’d be willing to make such a trade.

  82. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

M – I feel like we gave Parker as many chances as we could, and odds are he probably plays here this season. I don’t think we’re focused on Linderbaum although I’d be excited if we were. We may be fine with Deiter or maybe we can pick up a starter still in FA after June 1st. BTW, I was disappointed we didn’t get Wagner, but I didn’t find out until I got home, so no cussing at work. 😁

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

My friends keep taunting me with Brady to Miami rumors. They just can’t understand how I’d rather make the playoffs and lose with Tua than win a Super Bowl with Brady as our QB. I do not want Brady on our team and I for shit sure wouldn’t give up a fucking thing to get him here

  84. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The thing with Parker is I don’t see the touches for him at his cap. Hill, Waddle, Gesicki, Wilson, Edmonds and Mostert. Where does Parker fit in? You can’t pay him $8+M to be inactive or get 1-2 targets here and there. I think we’re trading him. No idea with who, how or for what, but I think it will happen.

    • Wyoming85's avatar Wyoming85 says:

Think Ervin! 3 or 4 targets a game for big gains! TD’s! first downs!

I don’t give a shit what his “cost” is!!!!!!!!
Like everyone else on the team!
All are for trade at the right price!

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

But he misses games or plays at 80% or leaves a game with some injury. For me Parker is either part of your offense or he has no value due to durability issues and he doesn’t play STs. You can’t carry a 4th WR who doesn’t play a role other than when needed. That’s what guys like Isaiah Ford and Preston Williams do on the cheap. A 4th WR has to play STs. The same with #3-4 RBs.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I agree: I think it’s going to happen… whether anyone likes it or not.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I agree Tim, I could see him used in a trade up from #102. That could be for any good player not just an OC or ILB.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah, teams that didn’t have the WRs high on their board fall to them where they wanted them, look to other options. Teams know Parker can play, but they also know he’s not always available. I see a possible conditional pick for Parker from the 2023 draft. If he plays a certain percentage of plays and meets a criteria, maybe a 4th to 6th round pick. You get some cap relief and get some draft capital from a guy who’s not really in the plans moving forward. Parker is entering his 8th season.

  85. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

M13, Did you ever check out ILB Leo Chenal? 6’3 250

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Now that cat there is a THUMPER! Love his highlights (thank you!), but I’m not seeing any plays in coverage to warrant a first or second round pick.

This is JMO, but the only way I’m drafting him early is to supplant Jerome Baker, and I’m not sure that’s what we need to be doing right NOW.

If we could find a guy like Chenal (THUMPER!) in a later round or even as an UDFA to augment/spell Baker, do it… but Chenal is going too early and he’s not worth trading up for. Again, JMO.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’d sooner kick the tires on proven vets like Joe Schobert (came from Wisconsin, and former ‘man-crush’) or Reggie Ragland on the FA cheap. And who knows… now that Brian Flores is gone, perhaps KVN would be willing to come back to Miami.

  86. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

  88. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    BBMike,

Just wanted to let ya know that I’m not crapping on Leo Chenal: he’s a future STUD, to be sure! I see what you’re seeing, and it’s NICE! I just can’t see drafting a guy in the 1st round (that would be Chenal) to replace Jerome Baker, to whom we just gave a hefty contract. And the cost to move up into the 1st round for somebody to replace Baker isn’t necessary at this current juncture, IMO.

I feel we can find a thumper to augment/spell Baker without having to spend future draft picks to move into the 1st round, that’s all.

I’m going to be searching for that guy, my guy!

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Baker is playing OLB now or so I thought. Chenal would not replace him. He would be in the middle and would replace Roberts and the like. That said, Chenal’s weakness is in coverage. He is a downhill run stuffer and blitzer. Does ok in zone coverage though. I don’t think he will be a 1st rounder, think mid 2nd.

All that said, I am still real interested in Brandon Smith and his versatility. I think he could be very impactful.
