2022 Miami Dolphins Draft Picks

LB Channing Tindall – Georgia 6’2 -230 (RD3 pick#102)

With the Dolphins first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Dolphins selected at #102 (3rd RD) LB Channing Tindall. Tindall was an explosive player for a fine Georgia defensive squad, but not a primary player. He was never a starter, albeit on a team loaded with talent and the best defense in college football. None of this matters now, Tindall will have to earn playing time here for the Dolphins defense, which is also stocked with talent, but his quickness and explosive speed could get him some snaps quickly. When you watch Tindall’s highlight reel, his suddenness really shows up, he closes on the ballcarriers so quickly and takes a very quick route to make the stop. Elandon Roberts is a thumper, but he’s limited as far as running sideline to sideline to make tackles, and really can’t cover a running back or TE. This is where Tindall may get some opportunities. Roberts is excellent plugging holes and shooting a gap into the backfield, but in space, his speed is a negative. Tindall can blitz, cover and make tackles sideline to sideline, much like his ILB mate #55, Jerome Baker. I can see these 2 forming a nice inside duo.

WR Erik Ezukanma – Texas Tech 6’2 209 (RD4 pick#125)

The Dolphins second pick in the 2022 NFL Draft was surprisingly a WR, Erik Ezukanma from Texas Tech. Ezukanma was one of the most productive WR’s in Texas Tech history finishing with some heady stats, 138 receptions for 2165 yards and 15 TD’s. He’s known for excellent ball skills, not so unlike the receiver he may be replacing, DeVante Parker. He doesn’t have the speed DeVante had as a rookie, running a mediocre 4.55 40, but he’s known for making very difficult catches in traffic. Unfortunately, DeVante’s worst ability was availability so we can only hope Ezucanma can flourish here and stay healthy. (Pronounced Eh-zoo-comma)

EDGE Cameron Goode – California 6’3 237 (RD7 pick#224)

With their 3rd pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, all the way in round 7, the Dolphins selected California OLB Cameron Goode. Goode is a little undersized for a 3-4 OLB so we’ll see if he can impress early on and somehow earn a roster spot. Goode was expected to go undrafted, but the Dolphins must have seen something in this kid they liked, so we’ll have to wait and see exactly what that is.

QB Skylar Thompson – Kansas State 6’2 219 (RD7 pick#247)

With the Dolphins final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Dolphins selected QB Skylar Thompson of Kansas St. Thompson’s senior season was his best, he played in parts of 5 seasons. He had his best TD:INT ratio with 12 TD’s and 4 INT’s. With Teddy Bridgewater firmly entrenched as the backup QB, Thompson can only hope to land on the practice squad while showing some kind of hope for the future.

In addition to our 4 draftees, the Dolphins signed a number of UDFA’s as well. Here is a list, although I can’t say for sure this is the most up to date list.

Miami Dolphins

Kellen Diesch, OL, Arizona State
ZaQuandre White, RB, South Carolina
Blaise Andries, OL, Minnesota
Kader Kohou, DB, Texas A&M Commerce
Verone McKliney III, CB, Oregon
Ty Clary, OL, Arkansas
Tommy Heatherly, P, FIU
Tanner Conner, WR, Idaho State
DeAndre Johnson, DE, Tennessee
Braylon Sanders, WR, Mississippi
Jordan Williams, DT, Virginia TEch
Elijah Hamilton, DB, Louisiana Tech
Ben Stille, DL, Nebraska

Besides our 4 draftees, and the undrafted free agent signings, I’d be remiss not to include the biggest piece of our draft haul, none other than #10 WR Tyreek Hill. His talent should take this offense to new heights, and make our young 3rd year QB’s job a lot easier. This offense will be much better than the 2021 version and Tua will be a big part of the success here. I look forward to watching this happen and very much look forward to shutting up his detractors. Hill, Waddle, Gesicki and our group of scatbacks should make it very interesting. It will be hard for any of our draft picks to make a huge impact in 2022, and I guess that’s a good thing. The roster is certainly better, as we added lots of talent in free agency and trades, and now tried to improve our depth with the draft, although we re-signed a lot of guys that will be the depth, but at least with our first pick Channing Tindall and our 2nd pick Erik Ezukanma, they bring something am little different to the table than we currently have.

    Herd,
It’s okay. I do hope you understand that I wasn’t questioning a woman’s right to choose. I tried to be clear on that. I disagree that it’s fair, but it is the practical choice. I simply wish we did more to include fathers in the process. If I get a gal pregnant, I would try to do everything in my power to protect my child. Maybe it just saddens and angers me to realize that I really don’t have any power. Maybe I’m just feeling what women have felt for years in many areas, and I don’t like it.

    • Krishna says:

      Kudos…

    • Krishna says:

I responded to you pre-page turn if you care. Have no desire to bring it forward.

    • Tim Knight says:

I’ve been through D&C abortions and it’s really sad when you wanted to welcome new life. 3 potential children that were miscarriage babies including twins. It was a really tough time for my wife. It messed me up for quite awhile.

It was unreal to see two women outside of the clinic praying the rosary holding signs against abortion when they had know idea WTF was going on in there. It took a lot of restraint on my part not to tell them to fuck off!

Abortion is a very emotional time for women. Men too. The majority of women are not having abortions like it’s no big deal. I’d say 90% of the time it’s a really sad time. Empathy is what is needed. Keep religion out of it. It makes it worse.

      • Krishna says:

I’m not going to share stories, but will only say, it’s a woman’s choice and whatever that choice is, the contributing man needs to man up.

      • Krishna says:

        I agree with you.

      • Tim Knight says:

Krishna, we both wanted all of them to be born. But my wife made the final call biologically, not to abort by decision. It just didn’t happen. Wasn’t meant to be as they say. I’m very sensitive about this topic. My view is never tell the female what she should do. It’s not always easy. Sometimes they’re heartbroken.

Government and religion stay out of it. You don’t know what’s happening here.

  2. Tim Knight says:

M13, you knew what it was the moment you heard it and the music in the different scenes are amazing.

  3. Tim Knight says:

We’re going to see Hill, Waddle and Ezukanma in the running game too. Jet sweeps, pitches, reverses etc. The identity of our offense will start with trying to be a dynamic running game. Lots of movement and throw off of that.

Things change, this was 1930 through WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars. Different time. Bad times. Too much war consecutively. 😦
    ———-
VERY much agreed on that, Tim. I hope the lesson was learned, but it hasn’t been.

But hey! Let’s get into WWIII with Russia while we’re at it! I mean, if George Soros, Barack Obama, GWB, FJB/LGB and Hunter, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Mitt Romney, and most radical leftists are for it… why not?!! I mean, it’s not like they have private interests ($$$ laundering) to protect in Ukraine, so let’s just listen to them and go out with a HUGE BANG to end the world!!! HAHAHA, FUCK THE WORLD!!! LOL

Yeah, the more things change, the more it remains the same.

I’m a man of PEACE… and PEACE through strength.

    • mf13ss says:

ANYWAY… I got off track. I LOVE the music of that era.
You spoke of wars past, and I’m speaking of CURRENT war.

  5. Randy says:

    Tim,
I lost a child as well. That was almost 30 years ago. It still haunts me to this day. I’m sorry for your family’s losses. Mother or father, it’s something you never just get over.

    • Tim Knight says:

Ditto, brother. As a family with my stepdaughter who was 10 at the time were thinking of names. Then we had to tell her twice over 2 years it’s not going to happen. One of the saddest times of my life.

  6. manitobafinfan says:

Tua, Gesicki, and a few others at the Panther game …

  7. Wyoming85 says:

    SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!

    Your a brave man Randy!

  8. Wyoming85 says:

    I’m very sorry Randy!
    That is a sad thing!

  9. Wyoming85 says:

    to all!
    If you can’t feed’em, Don’t breed’em!

  10. Wyoming85 says:

    Damn were did everyone go????

  11. Wyoming85 says:

I think the center left side of the OL is OK?

Do we have the right folks to man ( can I say man in that context?) the right side????

  12. Mike E. says:

Holy fuck! Huge win for the Mets tonight. 7 run ninth inning to beat the Phillies 8-7

    F1 ROCKS MIAMI

Congratulations….Garfinkel threw Ross around at 130mph….lol….

….that might be a way to get rid of Ross, OD….think about it….

  15. Krishna says:

2nd F1 in America after ATX. Next is Las Vegas…

    • steveccnv says:

Used to watch Indy500, when I was a kid, not much on TV then, but now too boring, because it’s really hard to pass and even harder with a Grand Prix, but in person racing is great and watch Nascar occasionally

Going to Daytona500 in 2024, sister/husband live on the beach there

Haven’t been to the LV races, but did get to the track for qualifying, right over the garages, Danica Patrick and a few other drivers were there in their garages after qualifying

    • Krishna says:

Not a race car driving fan, but one of my favorite books, “The Art of Racing in the Rain”, was about a race car driver as seen through the eyes of his dog.

Would love to COA here in ATX just once for the experience! Lol.

      • sb7mvp says:

I’ve seen the movie they made about the book.

      • Krishna says:

I read that book to Mrs. K., actually we read twice, the second time when the movie came out so we could “remember” the book vs the movie.

After we saw the movie, I never “saw” Mrs. K. again. We celebrated her BD after the movie with her grand kids and then that night was the beginning of the end. I’ll never forget it.

  16. naplesfan2010 says:

    Warren Sharp

top-10 red zone QBs in 2021

    1. Tua Tagovailoa
    2. Josh Allen
    3. Jalen Hurts
    4. Lamar Jackson (tie)
    4. Tom Brady
    6. Ryan Tannehill
    7. Jimmy Garoppolo
    8. Kirk Cousins
    9. Aaron Rodgers
    10. Teddy Bridgewater

    • sb7mvp says:

Now we need to get more trips to the redzone.

      • The Flying Pig says:

That’s all about first down plays

Maybe in 2022 we can count on the offense to not to run the draw play out of the shotgun 10 times a game on first down

    • steveccnv says:

Because the element of throwing downfield has been removed for most QBs, so it gets tight and they aren’t accurate enough with ball placement

Tua doesn’t change his style in the redzone, so no shock like other QBs

      • naplesfan2010 says:

        true and true
I think one thing that helped is that while we did have Parker and Gesicki who were quite good at jump balls, boxing out, and 50/50 catches, we did not have a “favorite guy” … a go to guy that the D could eliminate and ruin us in the RZ.
Ford, Hollins, Waddle, Grant, Gaskin, Ahmed, Brown, Laird, even Wilkins all caught TDs in the RZ (I think).

    T.J. and Derek Watt

    Cam and Connor Heyward
    Carlos and Khalil Davis

  18. Mike E. says:

Naples – saw some grumbling on twitter about the F1 taking away lots of parking for Dolphins games and tailgating. Dolphins fans weren’t happy about it.

    • naplesfan2010 says:

The article said that the entire thing would be dismantled and removed immediately after the event, except for a bit of hype-style scenery pieces.

      • Mike E. says:

Oh wow, I had no idea. OK, well then that’s that. Nothing to fret about. I figured those people were from FLA and knew what they were grumbling about. Apparently not! 😛

  19. steveccnv says:

Was thinking the other day, when the Allen vs Tua first 20 game comp was posted, that Allen had an elite identity he could hold his hat to, then got weapons and took off

Have seen several of these stats where Tua either is at the top or close, believe now that he has an elite identity of his own and now has weapons

When things get tight Tua sometimes makes mistakes, reduce those mistakes and he’ll become the QB we thought we drafted

Tua bit as a pup, with his opening drives where he was flawless often ending in TDs

He has what he needs to succeed only thing that can stop him is himself

  20. naplesfan2010 says:

Tua threw 15 TDs in the RZ to only 1 pick.

  21. naplesfan2010 says:

The Arizona game is the game from which I derive hope that Tua is the man.

    • steveccnv says:

      Agree

Coming in on a nationally televised game against Ravens last year, like a seasoned vet, would be 2nd

  22. steveccnv says:

    Schedule

The one thing here, though, is that we probably wouldn’t expect the Pittsburgh Steelers’ visit to Hard Rock Stadium to be a prime-time game because logic says the NFL certainly doesn’t want a spotlight on former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores’ lawsuit against the league and a handful of teams, and that pretty obviously will be a hot topic when the game is played.

One national television game where the Dolphins certainly fit is the Thanksgiving Day game at Detroit.

  23. naplesfan2010 says:

Tua’s best 5 games in terms of yards thrown were all losses.

      Cin game we won

Buff game passing yards were in garbage time and he threw 3 picks lots of yards, because we were way behind

Atl game behind and 2 horrible picks

Jax game Flores FDed it up with the bad 4th down go for it

      KC game got way behind

What does it all mean, Tua can throw for lots of yards, but it comes with more risk, and he’s not suited to play that style

  24. naplesfan2010 says:

    Mike E
Don’t know if they’re just trying to convince us that the football side is not compromised, but here’s the quote:
“Their task was simple: Turn a grass and asphalt [football stadium] parking lot — “thin air,” Epp called it — into a sprawling [F1 racing track] campus that you’d never guess was temporary.

Yes, temporary. Starting Monday, virtually all of it will be torn down.

Dolphins fans have to park somewhere, after all.Organizers plan to dismantle everything except for the pit and paddock building, which holds garage stalls for the teams and cost Ross a $45,000 penalty because it was built over a sewer main. The structure might be used to house racing displays for fans during football season. But at least for now, everything else must go until next spring.”

  25. naplesfan2010 says:

I also think Tua looks much more jacked than he did at first.
Of course he was a kid, coming off rehab and atrophy after the hip injury, and many skills guys are slim and slender coming out of college because of the body profile of their position group.
But it is good to see that he has hit the weight room, and it has worked.
He’s at least 217 now, but buff, which is a packed 6’1 frame.
That makes him thick through the thighs and also a bit barrel chested to take the punishment.
He’s significantly heavier per inch than almost every DB that’ll hit him.
Tannehill is the same weight, but he’s 6’4.

    • Rockphin says:

as long as he doesn’t get muscle bound and have it effect his throwing motion that is great. As you probably know “arm strength” isn’t only in the arm. There is a lot of core power that goes into a throw. I hope we have heard the last of the weak arm rhetoric.

    • steveccnv says:

      Tua at the combine

      . #Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa

      Height: 6-0
      Weight: 217
      Hand: 10 (left), 9 7/8 (right)
      Arm: 30 4/8
      Wingspan: 75 2/8

      Long arms, big hands

  26. naplesfan2010 says:

I need to correct the above as we beat the Bengals in that game 19-7. Joey didn’t play.
That was the game with the 5 ejections, Parker, Howard, and Hollins for us.
We got 406 yards of offense in Tua’s first game back after the thumb injury.
We moved to a 8-4 record, but could only go 2-2 to finish and missed the f’n playoffs.

  27. steveccnv says:

I like Tua drinking and dunking, when he completes 80% of his passes and 0 picks

Against Buff, because they put so much pressure at the LOS he’ll have to throw downfield more

  28. steveccnv says:

Multiple outlets had Diesch going in the third round. Last season he had three games where he graded 87.8 or higher against Stanford his grade was an insane 95.3.

While he has small arms for a tackle, the Miami Dolphins seem to look past his deficiencies and saw the great footwork he had sliding in pass protection.

Didn’t know he had great footwork, OZB anyone? Making him more valuable to us than most teams

  29. steveccnv says:

Some of these stories about our UDFAs, they seem to think an RB, OT, and 2 DBs have a decent shot of making team

Talent seems to be there, if they want it bad enough…

  30. Mike E. says:

    NEW BLOG UP!!!!

  31. sb7mvp says:

I’m really ready to see this team in action so we can start putting to bed most of the concerns we have. I kind of wish we were on Hard Knocks so we’d have more insight, but McDaniel doesn’t need that distraction in his first year.

I want this o-line stealing people’s bikes and snatching chains
Running backs that can cover 30+ yards in an instant
Wideouts catching the ball in stride and taking it the house
Gesicki Mossin’ and truck sticking opponents like he’s Techmo Bowl Bo Jackson
Tua handing out touchdown passes like Oprah giving away cars
Boyer’s defense crushing our enemies, seeing them driven before us, and hearing the lamentation of their women.
Let’s get this top of the division playoff spot and never look back.
